I loved what you did! Can I request a Part 2 of the Female Tanjiro Reader? (Reader and God plan to get married soon, but God likes to already call himself Reader’s ‘Husband’) Reader’s God Opponent has 2 younger brothers who are the God of Dreams and Nightmares and the God of Revenge and their father is a God of Destruction, Battle and War (I rewatched Infinity Train, and I’m feeling a LOT of things 😭) Only Zerofuku is platonic and he’s basically adopted by Reader and Nezuko (Wholesome Trio)

Anyways, the God of Dreams, out of anger his older brother was killed, demanded Reader to fight him (She refuses because she understands that he’s grieving) however he uses his power over Dreams and puts Reader under his spell and kidnaps her while she’s unconscious along with Nezuko (Goll saw this and ran over to Husband to tell him that God kidnapped Reader and Nezuko)

Anyways, this God taunts (Husband) that killed his brother by asking him if he should he make her dream about the slaughter of her entire family or should he bring her father ‘back to life’ all while laughing sadistically since if they try anything to him, Reader will never wake up (However, thanks to Nezuko’s Blood Demon Art, Reader wakes up on her own) with the God forcing Reader to fall asleep… only for her to wake up over and over again the second the God puts her under his spell, which he loudly proclaims the insanity of her indomitable will to commit suicide over and over again as not even a god would do that, so she must not be a human but a monster

Reader, enraged at this God, screams in pure rage for God to stop putting words in her family’s mouths, as they would never ever say things like that as she finally had enough and decapitates him and goes over to her husband… only for her to push him out of the way to take the stab to her side from the other God, the God of Revenge

(Husband) is very worried for Reader, however Reader begs (Husband) to spare God and save him, which honestly angers him and asks Reader why should he spare God, when he was clearly not going to spare her, and he deserves to die and that they ripped off his leg (Only for Reader to say that God then suffered enough, as he’s grieving and that as long as she doesn’t die, he won’t have her blood staining his hands)

However, the God of Dreams, furious that he lost to a human, is starting to disintegrate, loudly wishes that he could’ve killed her if he had the strength right now as he’s reaching towards her to try and strangle her and calls her a “worthless, ugly woman” and finally dies

Only for their Father to come in and try to kill Reader, which (Husband) crushes their arm that was aiming for Reader and darkly demands why they went for his wife, who is severely injured, tired and needs medical attention, only for him to state he despises the weak, especially humans, and that they should all die, especially Reader, since she’s a human, thus she’s a ‘weakling’ (This very much pisses off Husband, as he wants to murder this God)

(Husband) fights, but isn’t paying much attention as he’s more concerned over Reader, his precious wife, thus he gets injured and God starts running away since they notice other’s are coming over

However, neither expected Reader to run over and throws her sword directly through God’s Stomach, demanding for him to come back and face her ‘Coward’ and Reader finally snaps screaming at his running form calling him a ‘Coward’ and that she’s a Human, but she still fought her opponent, even though he had the clear advantage, but he’s also a coward for leaving his only living son behind to save his own skin, and that (Husband) won, because he save and protect her and Nezuko (Husband is very touched and amazed by his wife’s words)

Sorry if this is a lot, I’m just feeling a LOT of things after watching Infinity Train (I thought it wouldn’t hit me so hard, was very wrong 😭😭😭)

-You hadn’t known this amount of happiness in your life since before your family was killed, you were so happy with (Love), who you were now living with and engaged too (except Zerofuku who became your younger brother).

-Nezuko adored (Love) and you did too, completely happy to be by his side.

-It had been months after Ragnarok and Valhalla was thriving with life, gods and humanity now working together, as intended when humanity first was created.

-Goll had seen a man approach you and Nezuko, and she knew this god was one of the God of Dreams, introducing himself as the younger brother of the god you were forced to kill in your match, demanding you to fight him, so he could avenge his brother.

-He was stunned when you refused, bowing your head deeply to him, “I apologize, but you are angry because you are grieving. I did not want to kill him, but he gave me no choice and the tournament was a fight to the death.”

-His hand shot out, grabbing you over your eyes and you instantly slumped into his arms, fast asleep before he picked you and Nezuko’s box up and took off with your body.

-Goll was quick to run to (God), screaming that you had been taken and instantly he had ran out the door, following Goll’s instructions on where you had been snatched from.

-He was able to find you easily as this god who took you was sloppy, leaving a trail, leading to a massive grassy field.

-He had a wicked smirk on his face, looking down at your sleeping body, Nezuko hugging you, shielding your body with her own as he looked at your partner, “She killed my brother~ I wonder if she would like sweet dreams of watching her family be slaughtered~ or maybe her father returning to life~ what do you think (Love)?”

-You instantly stirred, Nezuko’s nails biting into your skin, her Demon Blood Art giving you the strength to overwhelm his own powers as you started to thrash, seeing your family being killed over and over in front of you.

-(Lover) tried to attack the god who immediately put you back to sleep, “Touch me and I’ll make sure she never wakes up!”

-You kept forcing yourself awake and he kept forcing you asleep, quickly growing enraged, “You monster!! Is your will that strong that you’re willing to die?!”

-With a war cry you were able to snap wide awake and managed to lunge, grabbing his head and headbutted him hard, cracking his skull, “SHUT UP!!” his head fell back from the blow, his neck instantly snapping.

-He fell to the ground, dead, while you were panting hard, Nezuko clinging tightly to you before you set her down, turning to see (Love) rushing towards you.

-Your eyes widened, seeing him there before you instantly froze, running towards him and you were quick to leap in front of him, taking a sword right through your midsection, taking the blow for your lover.

-(Love) turned in horror as you fell, seeing a God of Revenge, the brother of the god of dreams and the god you killed in your match, had been the one to attack you, furious that you killed both of his brothers and nearby was another god, their father, a god of destruction and war.

-(Love) instantly attacked him, pulling him off of you and went into a frenzy, violently attacking this god, ripping one of his legs off as well as one of his arms.

-He only froze when he heard you calling out to him, begging him to stop, not wanting him to kill another for you, you didn’t want his blood staining your hands.

-He dropped the broken but alive body of Revenge, not happy to let him live as he was going to kill you, but for you, he would do anything.

-Destruction then ran forward, aiming his hand to strike you down in a single blow but (Love) was quick to catch it, snapping his arm in half in fury as you coughed up blood, “Why would you go after my wife (big sister) when she’s injured?!”

-Revenge just snickered, “Humans are weaklings! They shouldn’t be allowed to live! They should have never won Ragnarok!!”

-(Love) instantly charged, the two locking up in battle, your love taking a few hard blows, as he was focused more on you than the fight, worried about you while Nezuko was hunched over you, crying that you were hurt.

-You heard voices and you saw other gods and humans, warriors from Ragnarok, rushing towards you, after Goll had sounded the alarm.

-You looked up at (Love) and Destruction who leapt back, seeing others were coming and he was quick to turn tail to run, leaving Revenge, who was calling out for him, begging him to not leave him behind.

-Like a surge of energy flew through you, adrenaline, you had shot to your feet and rushed at Destruction with your sword, “Don’t run you COWARD!!” and with your final word, you ran him through his midsection, shocking him but he was more enraged at you calling him a coward.

-He fell back as he tried to turn on you as you glared harshly down at him, “You call yourself a father?! Your child is hurt and crying out for you, why didn’t you help him?! That’s why (Love) is better than you! He’s at least doing his best to protect Nezuko and me!!”

-He glared hard up at you, “You dare speak to me like this?! You’re just a filthy, ugly, weak human!!”

-He started, meeting your eyes, seeing you look down at him with pity as (Love) came over, sweeping you into his arms, hugging you close as the other warriors made it to you and the injured gods.

-Hercules- Scolded you for being so reckless when you went after Destruction, while peeling you an apple to feed to you while you were, once again, in the infirmary, Nezuko fast asleep on you lap. You said nothing as you knew he had been worried about you but was angry that you had taken the hit meant for him, his body would have been able to withstand the blow, scolding you that you got injured for nothing. Once he was done venting, he fed you the apples, making you smile softly at the sweetness of them before he pecked your forehead gently, telling you to not make him worry anymore.

-Jack- Had been quiet, more so than normal, his silent tell that he was upset as he sat beside you in the infirmary bed, Nezuko lounging across your lap as his arm was around your shoulders, keeping your head on his chest. You were fretting, worried he was mad at you before he finally spoke, “Don’t ever do anything foolish like that again, Y/N. I can’t bear even the thought of losing you.” You smiled softly, tilting your head up and pecking his cheek, “I’ll try my best.” Your promise made him smile softly before he pressed a kiss to your temple.

-Thor- Guarded you fiercely while you were in the infirmary, as he knew those other two gods, who attacked you, were being treated here as well, but once they were better they would be immediately locked up to face punishments for their crimes. You were holding Thor’s hand, feeling it tensing under your grip as he finally looked at you, giving you a soft smile, seeing that you were going to be just fine.

-Loki- Pouty baby, making you feel guilty for worrying him as he scolded you, but you knew that’s how he showed he cared as he yelled at you for taking the blow meant for him. He couldn’t’ fight your big watery eyes, “I didn’t want you to get hurt, Loki.” He turned, hiding his blush as he knew he lost against you, but he was quick to crawl into your arms, hugging you tightly, feeling that you were still there, still alive.

-Hades- Pampered you while scolding you at the same time. Fluffed your pillow before calling you an idiot for taking that sneak attack blow meant for him, fed you grapes while telling you that he could have dealt with Destruction running but you did it yourself and put more strain on your body. You just let him vent and yell, as in hindsight you knew you had been a bit reckless, again, before you opened your arms, wanting a hug and you held him close, running your nails across his scalp, making him melt into you and relax.

-Poseidon- Had tried going after Revenge and Destruction more than once, for hurting you and making you cry, despite them being in the infirmary as well. When he returned after another failed attempt, a steaming lump on his head from Zeus, he immediately crawled onto the bed with Nezuko and you, pulling you into his body, pouting. You patted his head gently, doting on him as his grip tightened, remembering your words, you praise that he was a better man because he had defended you, it made him happy.

-Buddha- Hugged you while laying on the bed with you, squeezing you gently, happy that you were alive and well. He looked up at you, popping his chin up on his hand, “You do realize that I could have dodged that blow that you took for me right?” you blushed cutely, but smiled softly, “I didn’t want you to get hurt, my love. I wasn’t thinking clearly.” He hugged you, a smile on his face, hearing your words that made his own face flush red.

-Zerofuku- Cried alongside Nezuko, one on either side of you, hugging you around your neck, upset that you had gotten hurt protecting your little brother. You doted on both of them, instead of resting like you should have been, wanting to take care of them both as it was your fault that they were crying. Once Nezuko fell asleep, you turned your attention to Zerofuku who sniffled softly, trying to calm down, “Did you really mean that I was better than him?” you smiled, opening your arms to embrace him and he hugged you instantly as you pecked his forehead, “Of course you’re the best! You were so brave trying to protect us.” He beamed warmly at the praise.

Rationally I am aware that this bracket is Not That Serious. For fun, even.

This did not stop me from accidentally putting together an entire campaign video and essay for Lake. She's butch butch, in the way that was incredibly important for me to see on TV, and seeing her in the bracket made me legitimately really happy. I wanna share the butch Lake highlight reel with the participants who haven't heard of her before and don't have time for 1 1/2 hours of television over a Tumblr poll!

So I present to you all: An organized highlight reel (of lots but certainly not all) of Lake's Butch Moments, plus a bonus essay. The people should be properly informed about their candidate options before they vote!

She really does deserve a win, despite not being one of the "iconic" options. She's one of the best butch characters I have ever seen, and I'm damned picky about what I call butch representation. She's not just gender non-conforming--she's the main character of an entire season about her struggling against systematic oppression and asserting her right to exist no matter how many times she's told she's not a person. She faces police brutality, she faces dehumanization, she faces constant bias, she faces being systematically discriminated against in favor of a gender-conforming girl and a boy, she faces being told that she doesn't even exist, and every step of the way she defiantly asserts: I am a person, I am not the feminine girl you want me to be, and I am going to keep living no matter what.

And she's just so deeply butch even beyond the big sci-fi metaphor-driven narrative about oppression. She's cool, she's strong, she's kind and thoughtful but she doesn't take any shit. She loudly criticizes toxic masculinity. She's brave, she's scared, she's tough, she's silly, she's angry, she's loving, she's loud. She contains all the multitudes I recognize and love in other butches. She's the sturdy person her friend can lean on when he accidentally steps in mud and needs to lift a foot to shake it off. She blushes and stammers when a group of pretty girls compliment her buzzcut. She's got massive boots and a DIY'd tank top. She hates cops. She gives hugs that could break backs. She's eking out an existence in a world that explicitly doesn't want her.

Lake is honestly something special. Infinity Train was the only time I've ever gotten into a completely mainstream and fairly popular show and then, out of nowhere, received an entire season explicitly about someone like me living my experience. I know that Sailor Uranus and Mo and Jess Goldberg and all those characters are iconic, but I'd legitimately place Lake in the same tier as them in terms of quality of representation. I cried the first four times I rewatched her season because of how familiar it was. Infinity Train is a sci-fi show, but it's primarily about people being people, and its depiction of Lake's gender non-conformity (addressed primarily through a very literal sci-fi metaphor in which her being made of metal acts as a handy stand-in for gender non-conformity whenever her appearance is being discussed) is painfully, wonderfully, recognizably true to the butch experience. She's the bracket's baby butch--both a relatively newly made character and canonically young--and she deserves a win to welcome her into the ranks of famous butch characters.

C'mon, vote Lake so she can proudly show off her new crown to all the older, more famous butches in the poll. They'd be proud of her. After all the time she's canonically spent being unfairly stuffed into boxes, she deserves a little recognition for what she actually is: hands-down one of The Best Butches you can find in any media.

Shows to Watch/Get Caught Up On:

There aren’t any anime in the Spring 2023 season that appeal to me, so I’m going to use this time to catch up on some (mostly) Western TV shows and animation series.

I do also end to dig into older anime at some point or another, but those are a lot harder to locate (most of the time) so require some more energy in finding them. Something which I don’t really have right now. Anyway, I’m just making this list to ensure that I’ll actually watch these shows. More potential for actual initiative.

Also, if you notice that there might be some series that I might like, based on these shows, feel free to drop recommendations in the comments!

The Fire Hunter: I need to rewatch this from Episode 1. It’s the only anime here. It’s based on a Japanese novel and had some really excellent world building in the first two episodes.

Bee and Puppycat: I remember watching episodes of this series when it was still a Youtube series. I love, love, love the colors in this series and just the soft style of it.

Proud Family: Louder and Prouder : I remember this show when I was a kid. I didn’t watch all that much of it, since it aired around the time I was really starting to get into anime (2001, I was 11). But, I remember enjoying it when I did watch it. I also love everything I’ve heard about this reboot.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: I hadn’t realized that this was based on a Marvel comic, but I LOVE the visuals and it just looks so interesting and cool!

Dead End: Paranormal Park: The lead character for this series is trans and I’ve heard great things about it. I’m also partial to paranormal, supernatural, light horror stuff, so this seems like it will itch that scratch.

Willow: I need to rewatch the movie first, I haven’t watched that movie since I was a kid, but I remember liking it a lot. I also just remember Warwick Davis as being a part of my childhood through Willow, the Leprechaun movies, and even in HP.

The Mandalorian (S3) : To the surprise of probably no one, I find Grogu precious and adorable and am a sucker for cold hardass gets given kid that then softens them up. It’s just way too cute a combo, so I’ll be checking this season out too.

The Owl House: My friend knows Dana Terrace (they had some class together, iirc), she’s also from my home state, so I feel I need to watch it not only because of that, but also because I have enjoyed a lot of what I’ve seen in the show. So, I want to finish watching this one. I know it is well beloved and that is likely for a reason.

Infinity Train: I watched the first season of this show when it first came out and I LOVED it. But, it wasn’t easy for me to watch, and that ended up being what made watching the rest of the seasons a lot harder for me. I want to watch the other seasons that came out for it though. It was such a wonderfully creative show that explored some great themes.

Amphibia: This one has interested me for a while and supposedly is quite good. So I want to give it a watch (especially now that it is finished, iirc, it’s easier to binge watch that way).

Hilda and the Mountain King (TV Movie): I watched the first and second season and I really enjoyed this series. It’s very character focused and I love the fantasy elements of this series. It’s all very magical and also kinda has a Welcome to Night Vale vibe about it, but child friendly. Since this is just a movie, I should be able to watch it quickly.

Tbh, I've never watched Adventure Time. It's been on my list but I'm not sure if I can get into the art style and the lot. What appeals to you about it? I really like Infinity Train, Steven Universe, She-Ra, Batman the Animated Series, and Gargoyles if any of those similar enough? Oh. And The Owl House.

OH BOY I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY

this is gonna be my first time I don’t ramble in the tags cause I want to include everything and not leave anything out!

Ok ok ok so I didn’t think I’d like adventure time either. I just watched it for the first time this past year and ever since I’ve been obsessed with it! The entire universe is just so good. I’m amazed it’s a kids show. There are just some parts and episodes that get trippy and super DARK but most of it is a happy go lucky show

And then there’s MORE! There’s Adventure Time: Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake 😍😍😍

Which again I was very skeptical about cause Fionna and Cake weren’t my favorite episodes in adventure time but they did an AMAZING job with it.

I’ve been rewatching Adventure Time cause there’s just so much to it? They’re only 10ish minute episodes but they jam pack those episodes my dude it’s crazy what they fit in 10 minutes.

Some episodes are super fucking random and make no sense and other episodes (usually towards the end of the series) are actually about the story. And it might just be because I’m usually smoking or high when I watch it but I don’t fully remember everything that happens. Some of these episodes I’ve rewatched and it feels like a brand new episode????

Not sure if any of this makes sense tbh

It’s honestly not like any of those shows but I kinda think it’s in the same ball park? It’s like if those shows were from Cartoon Network.

I’ve watched She-Ra, Owl House (I’m on the last episode and I don’t want it to end!!!!), Gravity Falls (which if you haven’t seen you DEFINITELY need to watch cause it’s on the same wavelength as owl house and has some of the same voice actors) and also really like Harley Quinn the animated series (if you’ve heard or seen that) and love all of them with my whole heart 🫶🫶🫶

1000/10 recommend at least trying a few episodes! Like I said they’re only 10 min and man oh man they are so good!

I will say that I binge watched a lot of them and now the ending song will be stuck in my head for the rest of my days. Also I got very very annoyed that they were so short and went by so damn fast!

BuuuUuUuUuUt when they came out with distant lands and fionna and cake I was THRILLED cause they are longer episodes and they go more into the story of the universe of adventure time and the characters.

#oooOoo I’ll have to look up infinity train and gargoyles!#I’ve never heard of those 👀#I’ve tried Steven universe but I just didn’t really get into it #I’ve been watching Hilda and that’s super duper good too #kinda reminds me of over the garden wall #which is also a really really good show if you haven’t seen it #I’m trying to think of all the reasons why I like adventure time #maybe cause it’s just not like any other show I’ve seen?#I love love LOVE all the characters and the thought that it took to make all the characters #like they are so intricate #and they’re soooo many of them #it’s a magical world and I wish I could live there 😤😤😤😤#I think that’s what I look for in shows #finding a comfort show where I can kinda disappear and pretend I’m there for a bit #fuck reality #I’m gonna go be a princess and kick ass with Finn and jake #flame princess is probably my favorite #but I also love princess bubblegum #I think she was EXCELLENTLY made and designed #not to give anything away but usually in most shows (especially to kids) the main princess is all sunshine and rainbows #and her and the main dude have a love thing going on and all this and that #but this is just so different #also also love how some episodes are just incredibly random and not even about Finn or jake or any of the main characters #they go into a random candy citizens life like root beer guy #just such such suuuuch a good show and whoever designed it is a genius #don’t get me wrong it’s a trippy show alone #but also the intricacies through the universe and all the shows is just A+++++++++#if you ever try it lmk what you think!!#and obviously if it’s not your thing it’s not you thing! I have a few shows that I would like but the art style throws me off #ask

breezy anon here - thanks for much for your answer! I absolutely agree that the SA is in-character for lsp, but I think my opinion of the episode was colored by 1) how horrifically uncomfortable I was while watching it 2) assumptions about the writing that I haven't really examined since I always skip breezy on rewatches and 3) how much younger I was when watching (1/2)

I think I also had a knee-jerk reaction to SA in kid's shows but you're absolutely right, it shouldn't be taboo, it's been referred to before, and the writing had a lot of strong points. thanks for sharing your thoughts! I probably still can't watch that episode again and I never liked lsp and finn scenes after it, but I can definitely appreciate the writing more now. my dislike of the new magic system remains, I'm afraid, but that's just personal preference and I see your argument for it as well

gonna try to respond to this point by point:

that episode makes everyone uncomfortable! it’s supposed to! i would absolutely never rewatch it for fun. its awful to watch. but it’s necessary and good

I can understand why thinking “this makes me uncomfortable” can equate to “so it’s bad” if you think disliking something means it’s bad. but also, interrogate that belief. just because you subjectively dislike something does not make it qualitatively bad, just as subjectively liking something does not necessarily, automatically make it qualitatively good.

I would not consider AT a kids’ show, and I say that as someone who watched season 3 of infinity train w my baby brother. but I’m not letting him watch AT until he is 16, because I think you have to be at least 16 to truly understand and appreciate it. watching it too young is how you get opinions like “these characters are flawed and therefore this show is bad” which is a take i see about this show constantly???? like seriously, if you go into AT expecting a kids’ cartoon, you are not going to get it. it’s like if someone watched utena and was like “I enjoyed all the magical girl hijinks until they brought incest into it out of nowhere wtf is this garbge?!?”

finn repressed the memory of lsp doing that to him, so there was no reason for him to treat her differently considering he literally. didn’t remember that. obviously that doesn’t make what she did ok, but it explains why their dynamic didn’t change.

it’s fine to dislike a component of the show, but I must reiterate that it’s not “new” magic. it’s a natural expansion of previously established lore that has been a part of the show since s1. mad bc they won’t let u into wizard city arent u
