Aras pov is probably the closest we will ever get to a Zuko POV. Her mind is dark and toxic and full of mental illness that makes someone feel bad for her (& some don’t) but unlike Zuko,,, Ara did HORRIBLE things to someone on purpose and Zuko was just forced to be a victim over and over again.

Zukos bending (or lack of) will continue to be a hurdle for him… I’m not saying he is a permanent nonbender but he won’t be back to full strength anytime soon. (Ha and azulas coming)

Ara & Jet are two wild cards right now because both have a BIG shock coming to them (one lost an arm & the other lost the only person left she trusted)

Yeah, that is pretty much of a given. Orihime wants to protect her friends, but something happens to her powers and she feels horrible about it, she has real flaws that any girl would have.

Espadas, Just the Espadas. More specifically, Ulquiorra Cifer and his Ressureccion looks like a genuine devil in Bleach.

4. If you count Isshin and Ichigo, then yeah, we have that. They are a perfect duo. Legit hilarious and Isshin actually loves his son and will protect him.

5. Yup! Cyan Sung-Sun

6. Yeah it does have that with pretty much every character in this show, even the jokey characters like Asano Keigo. There are hundreds of videos just talking about these characters.

7. Ichigo gets his ass kicked like every arc, at least. Not to mention, the internal battle that he has with his inner demon, both literally and narratively. This guy has more layers than an onion.

8. Pick one. You want angsty antagonist? Coyote Starrk. Angsty protag? Ichigo. Angsty female character? Rukia Kuchiki. Angsty side character? Uryu Ishida. It is filled with angsty characters.

9. Rukia, Yachiru, Yuzu, Karin, Nel, Toshiro, Momo, pretty much, anyone that won't kill you, but knowing you, you will adopt all of them.

10. Renji FUCKING Abarai, this boy is the most hilarious boy on the planet and I love him for that.

I think another kinda confusing thing about Joel and the date is how comfortable he was with Jan during the bar outing the last chapter.

Like, he didn’t shy away or look uncomfortable with her touches and even just excuses it away with that she’s just a bit drunk.

And even as just a reader/outsider, it kinda makes you go “hmm…” so actually being in that situation as the reader (confusing lmao but just seeing the reader as an actual character kinda thing) I can’t imagine how confusing that would be for her, especially after everything.

I know she definitely has her flaws and problems and has done some things wrong but seeing everything from her perspective, I just can’t help but feel for her. And be mad at Joel. All of this is just so hard and confusing for her and he just adds and adds to it. What did he think she would feel like? He has sex with her and immediately afterwards tells her he’s going on a date and the next day she sees them together with Jan being all touchy and everything. Like, to me, that would be a huge fucking hint to get lost! To forget all about him and try to move on!

Now, I’m trying to not be super harsh on Joel but he was being a bit of a shithead in that bathroom. I don’t wanna think he’s a stupid fuckboy that doesn’t care because there’s clearly a lot of feelings there from his side and I really want to give him the credit that he’s not that much of an idiot. (I know they’re both technically free to do whatever they want but this feels a bit like a Ross “we were on a break” situation lmao! Like yeah technically…. But it’s obvious it would be shitty?) I like to think that Joel is pretty emotionally mature and I hope he does get to prove that to us because right now… it doesn’t seem like it haha!

I am so glad the reader opened up like that, even if it was in a bit of a rage. I think her emotional reaction definitely shocked Joel a lot and I hope he realises that there’s also feelings from her side but that these kind of feelings are harder for her to deal with. I think Joel loves a lot and he loves very freely so it’s easy for him? It’s comfortable for him. But that’s not how it’s going to be for everybody! I’m very curious to see how this will continue with them. If Joel is gonna be honest about his date and if reader will tell him the actual reason for her injury and if they’re both just gonna admit there’s feelings and actually talk! And eventually Tommys reaction too! I feel like he’s gonna absolutely kick himself for setting up that date for Joel!

I’m very excited to read more hopefully soon! I’m really liking this and really loved the last chapter a lot! (I’ve reread it like 4 times now lmao!) much love to you!

Can confirm: he is in fact not a stupid fuckboy! He's just dumb, like we all are sometimes. I think he has great emotional intelligence and he's a mature guy with life & love experience, but that doesn't mean he's perfect and won't make mistakes.

That's exactly what is happening!!!! Joel and reader are soooo different when it comes to expressing love / feelings!!! That's why reader was so shocked and hurt by the fact that Joel is going out with someone else. He's always been so open and comfortable with expressing his affection for reader and now she's super confused.

Do they enjoy poetry?

Yeah, Mark is. A softie romantic at heart. (Deep in the heart. Very deep. But there!) 

But even with that he really only likes specific poetry… he likes poetry in nerdy historical ways; he thinks Roman poetry in Latin is soooo much better than other stuff. I imagine early in his graduate studies he spent a long time reading Roman poetry, specifically romantic ones haha. I think no one really knows exactly how much he likes it, though Sampson probably at least saw him reading or mentioning it once. He was probably close to sharing more before the relationship went bad. It's possible Sampson figured out he liked it when he was spying on him, without his knowledge. It's a very very guilty pleasure. 

Has a chance encounter ever had an unexpected effect on them?

Uhhh lots of small encounters have had large effects on Mark…. I’m trying to think of an answer to this question that is interesting but also not just restating his backstory. Ok. OH yes I thought of one. Sleeping on this helped cause i was STRUGGLING last night.

Fairly early on on his kindred existence, he met a gargoyle in the chantry. Mark had no idea the origin of gargoyles, their history, or how they were treated, and this particular gargoyle was very young. His name is G. Because he was so young (existed for like 5 years) he was childlike in many ways and had a unique perspective on things. Mark was nice to him, because like, why not, and so G became his friend. Flew him around even.  

Mark later found out  more about how gargoyles were seen, (badly, like unfeeling servants) which is fucked but of course didn’t make Mark less friendly with G.

Then, the battles with the Sabbat happened. Mark and G fought in the war; Mark willingly for status, territory, and also cause he thought the Sabbat were fucked, and G, cause he was forced to guard the chantry. This traumatized G and also he got injured so Mark didn’t see him for awhile. A lot of gargoyles died.

Mark looked around for him and that’s how he found the gargoyle barracks which are. Bare bones and sad. He saw  more first hand how they are treated now.

Mark is planning on looking into this more and trying to help the condition of gargoyles. This is kind of a big thing cause its the first thing he sees in kindred society that he thinks he could make better on a larger scale. God speed Mark. I hope Julius doesn't tell him to stop.

Do they learn from their mistakes?

He isn’t one to make the same mistake twice, when he can help it. Mark likes learning, remembering information, logic, etc. He is also trying REALLY hard to like, be successful, so if he trusted the wrong person or was careless, then he definitely learns from that. He’s recognized now that he is somewhat easy to manipulate/gullible, and so is trying REALLY hard to get past that, but that’s hard to fix quickly. And he’s kind of set in his ways - larger character flaws - the repression, paranoia, and general stand-offishness - ain’t going anywhere anytime soon. 

So basically like, mistakes caused by external issues or  miscalculations - yes he will learn. Mistakes from internal causes? He’ll learn only up to a point, and probably won’t identify their root issues.

aw, thank you soooo much <3! man, also those are two excellent questions. i apologise in advance for the long answers.

11) Have you ever amended a story due to criticisms you’ve received after posting it?

so: the short answer to this is no. at least, not that i recall. it may have happened when i was writing fanfiction at a younger age, but i honestly don’t remember if it did. i have, however, sometimes amended things in a story after posting it, but it’s always been because of a flaw that i saw or something that i wanted to change, rather than something someone else wanted to me to change.

i actually regularly do that. if you’ve been reading castles from the start and have recently gone back, you’ll notice small changes here and there. but that’s just me suffering from edititis (which i have dubbed as the constant will to edit and keep editing shit until i die. if i ever published a book, i think i’d still feel the need to go into bookshops and scribble changes into them). in castles, though, i’ve never (and don’t intend to) change anything major. it’s a couple of lines, maybe a scene, small stuff. however, in my previous long fic, children (not potter), i went back a couple of years later and rewrote the whole thing. but that was because i wanted to do that, not because someone else asked me to.

this, of course, aside from the obvious ‘oh, you wrote “lay” instead of “lie”’ or ‘oh, you put two p-s in “apologise.”’ i sadly don’t have a beta for most of my work and whenever someone points out a typo i get embarrassingly annoyed at myself cause god, i spend hours and hours proofreading these and there’s always typos that get through the cracks. it drives me nuts. but of course, if i get a comment pointing one out, i’ll obviously go back and change that.

this being said, i don’t necessarily rule out changing something on the basis of a comment in the future, it would just have to be something i agree with. this is a rather complicated topic for me actually because i do have a knee jerk reaction to criticism which i think is maybe different from most authors. i’ve seen in the past a lot of people on reddit or elsewhere complaining about authors getting very defensive/angry at criticism. i have the opposite flaw: i genuinely think everyone who criticises my work is right. so, my knee jerk reaction is to people-please, go back, and change the thing that made this person unhappy. i’m fighting constantly against that knee jerk reaction, trying to trust myself and my narrative choices haha. in a way, i do think my knee jerk reactions is quite a good thing because it clearly means i listen to people and don’t think i’m better than them, but i’ve recently come to terms with the fact that it also has a downside. i very quickly question myself, think everything i write is shit, and lose the will to write. i have alluded to this before but there is a reason why there was a four-month gap between chapter 8 and 9 of castles.

the way i’m learning to deal with this is two folds: first, i try to remind myself that everyone is contradicting themselves and there is no way i can make everyone happy. in castles, i have people in the comments who don’t want harry and ginny to end up together. i have people who think ginny should be ‘punished’ for dumping harry in chapter 3, and people who don’t. i have people who love the foreshadowing i do and my use of time in a non-linear way, then recently got a comment saying that person hated it. so i try to remind myself that i’m the captain of this ship and in the end, i need to make decisions lol.

second, i also frequently go back and check in with myself. when i got a lot of criticism about harry’s characterisation a couple of chapters ago, i went back and re-read the whole thing to make sure i still stood by what i had written. and, i think, while i didn’t at that point, if i had come out of it thinking i needed to change x, y, or z, i probably would have. i think that’s one of the gifts you have in fanfiction: interactions with your readers and the ability to go back and change things you don’t like. so it’s not like i’d completely rule out changing something after posting, it’s more that i’ve checked in and felt there was no need. it doesn’t mean it won’t/can’t happen in the future.

comments and criticism do influence future chapters though. like, i’ll read something and think: yeah, that’s a fair point, or here, that’s a good idea, and take that on. for example, i think that had i not gotten certain comments, i would have written harry’s reaction to ginny’s letters as a lot less ambivalent in chapter 9 that i ended up doing. i might have reached the same conclusion in the end and it didn’t influence the overall plot, but criticism and comments do have an influence on future developments, yes. not all of them, but some of them.

16) How did you come up with the idea for Giulia? (there's got to be a She Lives AU/Case Fic pls I'M BEGGING YOU) <3

aw, jules. that’s also a very interesting question. so, for her i feel like there’s two things.

first, there’s her function in castles as harry’s work partner. i won’t lie, that was sort of born out of a reaction i’ve had to many other post war fics that always rang a bit wrong to me. in a lot of post-war literature, when harry joins the aurors, he’s just partnered up with ron. and i always felt that was weird because… they’re both newbies!! they need a more experienced partner, someone to teach them shit! and, so once i’d decided that, i sort of started digging into who that partner could be and what he or she could bring to the story.

i very quickly decided she’d be a woman. first because the only other auror character was robards and i wanted to balance it out, and also because she comes in at a point where harry is actually more comfortable with the women in his life, than the men. there’s a very weird post-war dynamic with the weasleys with a lot of the unspoken ramifications of losing fred, of everything that he hid from them regarding the war, as well as his relationship with ginny. his relationship with kingsley is … complicated, and at that point, he doesn’t really trust robards. he feels much closer to hermione (who is also on the outside of the weasley dynamic) and i just think that in a weird way, the relationships he has with women in that part of castles are a lot more honest than what he has with ron, for instance. so, i also wanted giulia to be part of that.

on that same note, the one thing that i knew when i started thinking about her is that she’d be honest, no-nonsense because at that point in the story, it was what harry needed. he’s navigating blind in the middle of a storm for most of the first half of castles and i think he needed someone he could trust and who would be honest with him. everyone around him is trying to protect him but harry’s always preferred having the information just laid out in front of him - i wanted giulia to provide that. it was also particularly interesting because, as he says himself at one point, she is the only person in his life who hasn’t known him for years, and who hasn’t been through it all with him. and, then he’s paired up with this person and told: you have to trust them with your life. and, of course, that doesn’t work like that. and so i wanted to giulia to be honest and no-nonsense because that inspires trust.

and then… there’s what every writer in the world will say, which i appreciate is very frustrating if you’re trying to come up with a character formula: she just shot off the page. i have no explanation for it. the main character who i had planned and for whom i had an extensive backstory was mia, not giulia. then, i started writing her with those two things in mind and she went from being a work partner who was going to appear in a couple of scenes to, well, giulia. that’s the part i can’t really explain. i remember writing that first scene where she meets harry in the patrol car and jokes about him trying to change his appearance and i was like ‘ohhhhhh who is this?’ giulia basically stole the show and wrote herself. i had very little hand in it. which, when you think of her character, is incredibly fitting. i had to dial back mia’s story (although, i’m now developing it for the next couple of chapters so it just got moved rather than deleted) because giulia just took so much space. it’s one the joys of writing where a character you thought would be minor just takes on a life of its own. and, the whole thing about her being gay (and sort of a player), and her slytherin past, and her relationship with harry all just became strangely self-evident. i wish i could say: ‘oh, i had the idea for giulia by doing x, y, z’ but it really wasn’t intentional. i had a baseline but she created herself.

obviously, then, she did end up filling a very important role of having harry understand that the guilt he felt over the things he’d done during the war shouldn’t plague him forever (‘you’ve done shit things, do better,’) but that was a role i gave her after she shot off the page, not before.

regarding her death, that’s sweet. i’m still sad we lost her. i was writing her for chapter 9 and just felt sad. this being said, it’s kind of hard for me to think of an au in which she doesn’t die because she always was going to die. from the very first time i wrote her, i remember i wrote the chapter from the moment harry meets her to the end of chapter 4 in one sitting. and there’s this line she says which is: ‘we’ll all die and fall into oblivion but you won’t’ (when she’s trying to get him to talk) and i remember writing that sort of instinctively, stopping and thinking: oh shit. she dies, doesn’t she? and, once i’d thought it, i couldn’t unthink it. it was set. and, i remember getting a tonne of comments from people who loved giulia at that point and biting my tongue because i knew, i always knew she was going to die. that too was self evident because in the end, harry has got to learn to stand on his own, she can’t always be there to tell him what to do. and, obviously, that becomes clearer after she dies, in chapter 9 where he’s just found out about ginny and he’s trying to figure out how to feel but all he remembers are bits of conversations that don’t really help.

and, like, she’s far from perfect. she’s impulsive and can sometimes be a bit too honest. and, while a lot of the things she tells harry about sexual assaults are correct, the way she teaches him also sort of backfires because it’s so prescriptive he feels terrified of doing the wrong thing and ends up, for most of chapter 9, doing nothing. and, generally, i tend to think she was the right person to teach harry at the right time, but her style of teaching would have completely backfired on most people. like, ron wouldn’t have taken to her. at all.

but man, i really miss writing her.

Okay fuck it, I gotta give in, I gotta watch through Supernatural. AFAIK, it's all on Netflix; at least I saw it on there in passing. Going into this, is there anything I should be aware of? Are there any episodes I should skip, any seasons? Should I start from season 4? I know the basic plot and concept, and I know it's very monster-of-the-week. But aside from me highkey shipping Destiel already, that's all.

Well my first piece of advice would be

but uh, let’s fucking ~GO~

If you’re actually jumping into this hellhole (why why why) don’t start at season 4. It’s tempting, but seasons 1-3 are some of the best shit in the whole show, also having context for Sam and Dean’s characters, and their relationship with the supernatural up to season 4 really highlights how fucking wild the introduction of angels is in the show. it’s basically a complete paradigm shift.

I would recommend you watch seasons 1-5 basically as is, though if you’re in a rush, season three is kinda skippable as long as you read a general synopsis. This is the original arc of the show and it shows. A friend of mine, @sammwinchestersdimples​ has said she’d have been fine if the show had ended there, and I can totally see her point. After season five things start to get... uhhhhh... not as good. THAT BEING SAID some really amazing seasons come later, and you’d get nowhere NEAR the Full Destiel Experience without them. What REALLY sucks is that all the seasons have good moments in them, so even if the seasons are generally bad, they’ll have episodes of GOLD. But fuck it, here’s a season-by-season breakdown.

Season 6 - This is the first... “eh” season. There’s a lot of character choices made in this one that I don’t like. The plot also doesn’t quite seem to know what to do with itself and it has no real main villain... or I guess it has a twist villain? This is also the season where they start chucking in the typical “no homos” you get when a show is queerbaiting, so they can point to the no homo bits and claim the queers are delusional.

Season 7 - The absolute WORST season, imo, is season 7, and it features Cas the least out of all the post season 4 seasons. You can tell the writers genuinely tried to write Cas off here. Not to mention the main plot is completely stupid. HOWEVER this is the season where we get golden things like Cas showing up to Dean’s prayer naked and covered in bees, and the episode where Charlie (best girl) is introduced and Dean subsequently has to flirt with a dude because she, a lesbian, cannot. (Wow so straight, Dean)

Episodes Not To Skip:

6x03 - A good Cas/plot episode (spot the famous destiel quote)

6x04 - A good all-round episode, also Jackles directed it so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

6x09 - This is one of the Batshit Episodes. Definitely watch.

6x10 - On the one hand, Cas episode. On the other, no homo, megstiel episode. Your choice.

6x11 - Good episode.

6x15 - THE ULTIMATE META EPISODE. Sam and Dean are teleported into Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles’ lives on the set of Supernatural and it is so batshit.

6x17 - Jolly good episode, and nice destiel content.

6x18 - Time travel episode, which is always fun.

6x19 - “Baby in a trenchcoat.” ‘Nough said.

6x20 - The Man Who Would Be King is the destiel episode. It is infamous in the fandom, and for good reason. It’s not just a good destiel episode, but one of the best episodes in the series. With banging lines like “Freedom is a length of rope. God wants you to hang yourself with it.” and “For a brief moment, I was me again.”

6x21 & 6x22 - The last two episodes are kind of must-watches after TMWWBK, trust me.

Episodes Not To Skip:

7x01 & 7x02 - follows on from s6 final. You don’t wanna skip.

7x05 - Good general episode

7x06 - Again, good general episode. Sets ups plot for the season.

7x08 - Ugh. So the A plot for this episodes invoves Becky, the insane, stalker, fandom-insert character, roofie Sam into marrying her (and it’s heavily implied they have sex - and it’s treated as a joke despite being LITERAL RAPE). BUT this is the episode where Garth is introduced and Garth is fucking amazing. So. IDEK.

7x10 & 7x11 - Plot important.

7x12 - Time travel episode! See if you can catch the bi!dean moment ;)

7x17 - Cas is back! Or is he???

7x18 - GARTH EPISODE

7x20 - CHARLIE!!!! WATCH THIS EPISODE!!!!

7x21 - Cas episode. It’s... interesting.

7x22 - The tagline for this episode is “Sam and Dean seek out an Alpha” 😭. It’s a Cas episode.

7x23 - If Cas weren’t in this episode I’d say skip it.

Season 8 - A fantastic season. If The Man Who Would Be King is the destiel episode, season 8 is the destiel season. When you watch this, DM me so I can RANT about all the amazing destiel this season. It’s also, again, a great season in general I remember watching it as it was airing it was soooo good. You have the arrival of the Bunker, you have Kevin and Charlie being awesome, some nice sprinkles of batshit episodes, BEST BOY BENNY rocks up in all his glory. Fucking epic season. Only downside it Sam’s character takes a bit of a dive. I’d recommend you watch through all of this season.

Episodes To AVOID:

7x13 - I literally pretend this stupid fucking episode doesn’t exist. Basically Dean impregnates a woman with Super Pregnancy and she has a daughter who becomes an adult within hours and then dies. The end. Everyone hated it. Man fuck this episode. Of course it was written by Buckleming.

Season 9 - Sadly, after how amazing season 8 was, and how spectactularly season 9 was set up, this season is a disappointment. It’s an ok season. It’s not bad, it’s not good, it’s just a bit all over the place.

I was going to give you the normal episode list to not skip, but looking through, most episodes this season should be watched for one reason or another. Either they’re Cas heavy, they do some interesting character building, or they feature one of the awesome side characters like Charlie or Jody.

This season is probably the height of the war in the writers’ room about destiel. Some writers want to no homo the whole thing and back way off, while other writers want to lean into it hard. So in the same season where SPOILER Cas loses his virginity to a random reaper woman and Dean kicks Cas out of the bunker to fend for himself, you also have Cas’ fatal flaw used as propaganda against him by Metatron being that he’s "in love” with humanity Dean. /SPOILER Whatever you do DON’T SKIP THE FINAL FEW EPISODES. TRUST ME.

Season 10 - Haha oh dear. This season is likely the biggest for wasted potential. You saw the end of season 9, right? You go “HOLY SHIT YES LET’S DO THIS” and then they do... season 10. They really became experts at setting up an awesome season only to fuck it up in delivery, right? Again, not a bad season, per se.

Episodes To AVOID:

9x05 - In which Dean wants to fuck a dog. I am not joking. I wish I were. Basically a spell-gone-wrong makes Dean doglike. it’s weird. it’s batshit. Not the good kind.

Season 11 - Season 11 is a pretty good season! They tried to give Dean a female love interest but Jackles said  ✨No✨ and played Dean as brainwashed and uncomfortable the whole time and I love him for it. Of special note this season is the episode Baby (11x04), which is my favourite episode in the series! It’s funny, it’s heartwarming, it’s weirdly shot. I love it! We also get casifer this season which is awesome! Some episodes are skippable, but they’re generally good episodes.

Episodes NOT to Skip (ignore the 10 year special):

10x01 & 10x02 - Great episodes, Dean in this is *chefs kiss*.

10x04 - *sighs* Fan Fiction. A 200th episode that is simultaneously a love letter to fans and laughing in fans’ faces. I’ve never liked this episode for the second-hand embarressment of it all, but you should watch it and see if you like it.

10x06 - Pretty good episode.

10x07 - Jody AND Donna! Fantastic episode!

10x08 - Dadstiel rears his ugly head. I fucking love how Cas adopts two (2) kids over the course of the series and in both cases Dean eventually goes “ah fuck, I guess I gotta co-parent this thing”. Also we get some KILLER destiel this episode. hey go on a DATE and Cas tells Dean he’s a good person ^_^

10x09 - Good episode. Much destiel.

10x10 - Charlie episode!

10x11 - Teen!Dean! Need I say more?

OK so I just had a look, and you really just need to watch every episode from this point in the season on. Enjoy!

Season 12 - Another example of a TERRRIBLE season, is season 12. Season 12 is also one of the most destiel-heavy seasons in the show. You see the issue? Like, it’s got a stupid plot that makes no sense and has no fucking cohesion, but you also FINALLY have the writers going “fuck it” and all in on the destiel. After this point Dean never has another non-Cas love interest and vice versa, they stop giving us whiplash from baiting and no-homoing. IF the conspiracy theory is true, and the end of the show is shit because of executive meddling, this season is the one where the writers decided they were gonna push for destiel endgame.

I gotta tell you the truth, I skipped this season in my rewatch, so all of my memories are from years ago when it first came out. This seson was the last that I watched live (for a reason). Should you skip it? No. But I’m not well informed enough about this season that I can point out what episodes you should or should not watch.

Season 13 - Congratulations! You’ve reached the point where the show’s gotten consistently good again! (just in time for most of the audience to have already left lol). We start off with SPOILERS Dean mourning Cas like he’s lost the will to fucking live. I’m talking complete despondence, praying for Cas to come back, lashing out in anger at everything, one of the darkest points we’ve ever seen him at on the show, then pulling a 180 and being super happy the second Cas comes back. /SPOILERS They also introduce Jack, who is the SECOND child Cas decides to adopt and Dean ends up co-parenting (Sam too). In fact, Jack is explicity Sam, Cas, and Dean’s kid.

Season 14 - Another good one. My only issue is where they decided to take the plot at the end of the season. I’d recommend watching it all, regardless.

Season 15 - And so we’ve come to the end of the line. This season was... well it was actually pretty good. It started off with what we hellers lovingly refer to as the “divorce arc” where Cas and Dean have a big blow up, and Cas leaves, but that ends with Dean praying on his knees for forgiveness and a nice hug. Honestly this season you can cut the tension between the two of them like a knife, and you can tell Misha and Jensen were doing it deliberately.

I’d say watch up until 15x18, then you decide what to do with the last two episodes. If you want you can watch them to understand just why people put their conspiracy theory hats on, or you can send me another ask and I’ll rec you some post 15x18 finale fics! There’s one fic that’s a replacement for 15x20 written in script format that is particularly good.

Anyway that’s it. It’s kind of left me a little sad, to break down the show in this way. Especially coming up to season 15 nd remembering all the wasted potential. Honestly if you do decide to watch the show, good luck. I hope you enjoy it. I’m also glad you never had to be put through the bullshit false hope that came about after 15x18.

2.) Who is your favourite fictional character and why?

Ohh this is a tough one! I think my fav fictional character of all time would be Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took (yes, the four main hobbits from Lord of the Rings). Because they embody what unconditional love, friendship, loyalty and faith are to me. They weren’t perfect, they had their flaws and challenges, but they always stuck by one another in the hardest of challenges and to me, they couldn’t be any better. Lest not forget how amazed Merry and Pippin were at the fact they wouldn’t be getting second breakfast or elevenses on the road to Mordor lol. And J.R.R. Tolkien is another one of my favorite authors as well, can’t believe I didn’t mention this last night!

3.) What do you order at a café?

Usually, it’s either some kind of espresso/very strong coffee with a few shots of espresso tbh, or a chai tea/English/Irish tea if they have it, sometimes a mint/lemongrass tea if I’m in the mood. I have an awful coffee/tea addiction lol.

6.) What does your dream home look like?

Definitely slightly large, brick, lots of windows for natural light, lots of plants/woods/landscaping, and an eclectic boho farmhouse kinda style. I’d like a lot of acreage for a homestead too; a garden, livestock, etc. would just be so cool to have honestly.

10.) Do you have a favourite classic novel?

I couldn’t think of this last night and idk why but hands down Lord of the Rings. I read it atleast twice a year haha

14.) What is your opinion on poetry?

This world wouldn’t be the same without it! Poetry opens a little window to the soul for everyone to peer into; it’s a good way to vent and release feelings, it expresses things that would otherwise be unexplainable, it’s a constructive way to cope with feelings/emotions, poetry is a blessing in this life. I love reading/writing poetry honestly, it’s a wonderful outlet to have especially in this heartbreaking world we live in now.

writing/describing hands

Absolutely love how describing someone’s looks can completely change their image in my head.

But,

It’s so easy to go too big or small, or just go with the wrong “flaws”. If you give some collected, suit-wearing guy dirty fingernails, I will assume he just burried a body and since that might not be what you’re going for, I have some tips. You know, from someone who will obsesses over every word that people write and why they chose that one.

So, like I said, dirty fingernails on a clean person will inmeadiatly give you a mysterious vibe. True, not necessarily murder, but definetly... something. Though, remember that your character, if you write in first person, will probably not notice this unless this someone is activily picking them or if they’re really into fingernails. Dirty fingernails usually seem slightly more masculine to me, but that might be personal. Things like coal, oil and other dark stuff usually take some of the “I just burried a body” away, but can also be used to create the same personality just as easily.

Chipped fingernails, nails with those white spots, square nails and nails with those weird pieces of skin you can’t stop pulling, usually sugest labor, but not wet, so no plumbers and working on a ship. Think about woodworking, painting (but only walls, clay and/or statues, not fabric) and metal... stuff.

Long or thin nails, long fingers, glossy nails (you know, the ones you get when you finally drink a glass of water for once) and silver jewerly have this old soul feel about them, i don’t know why. I don’t mean in a fantasy/vampire kind of way, but in a, that one kid that showed up to class because they wanted to. (No judgement tho, haha. I’m one of those people...) Think about things like lots of reading or writing, knitting and ballet. Somehow, they’d do everything in an elegant way, even the awkward ones.

Really short fingernails, whether they cut them like that on purpose (hehe) or not, or if they can’t seem to stob biting them, it will make them seem impatient. Sometimes even a little nervous and all that without having said anything else. It’s weird, but I just think it has a childish something about it (not actually childish, but child-like, if that makes sense)

Dry skin and/or knuckles, lots of skin that make your fingers wrinkly when you strech ‘m and constantly rubbing them is even “worse” than short fingernails. And again, I know it’s weird. I guess my mind connects wrinkles to dry skin, dry skin to washing them a lot, and that, along with the rubbing, to a level of nervousness so high... it’s insane. Combine it with looking at the door everytime someone walks in, a bouncy leg and an inability to sit still... just... I always love it. It can make everyone in the room, without having any connection to them, almost just as nervous as your character.

Stretching their fingers, especially after having just squeezed something really hard, shaking their hands frantically or having them relax (I’ll explain that one further ahead) can make your character seem... well, crazy. I don’t mean the “on the edge of a break“ kind, but it could definetly foreshadow something like that. Though usually, it just tells me that they thought the situation was incredibly uncomfortable. You might be able to push it to the moment right before an outburst of anger, frustration, self-blame or a combination of those. You can also insert it right before a fight, but the reader might just see it as stretching. (it would make a really annoying question on someone’s English test though, haha)

Relaxing their hands when their entire body is tense can mean soooo many things, it’s ridicoulous. Tracing someone’s skin with relaxed fingers can be both a show of power or can get the sexual tension really high, or both... But take someone writing a threatning letter. They’re probably filled with anger or at least a need for it, but still need to actually write that letter. A scene like that, can be incredibly powerfull if well written. In this case, you do have to be carefull. If you don’t describe the other physical things that your character can’t control (tapping their pen when things get really hard, rubbing their legs or hair so hard it hurts, short fuse when they make a mistake).

Holy crap, that was sooo much more text than I thought this was going to be... Anyway...

Keep in mind that I am a person who’s pretty picky and quick to get frustrated about things like these. Most people will skip over these things, but when you get things like these right (or absolutly wrong, on purpose to make the twist bigger), I don’t know, I just instantly love your writing no matter what. thoughts on reputation by lex croucher

first my non-spoilery thoughts (mostly non-spoilery. light spoilers for tone and general content): this book was so good and also SO STRESSFUL. haha. if you’re going into it expecting a light read, this isn’t it, but it’s incredibly funny (like seriously so so funny, there was probably at least one phrase or sentence on every page that gave me a little chuckle inside) and has a lot of really important things to say. and the stress does pay off for a very cathartic ending. you’re gonna suffer, but you’re gonna be happy about it etc.

honestly the two things I care the most about in books these days are if they’re funny and if they have characters that I care about. this supremely delivered on both counts. I really loved every single one of the characters (I mean, except the ones you’re supposed to hate, obviously. it does a very good job making you hate them). the third thing I care about is friendship narratives and hoo boy was there a lot of that too.

it gets compared to bridgerton a lot and I haven’t seen bridgerton, so I can’t speak to that, but I don’t think I would like bridgerton based on what I’ve heard of it and I really liked this. make of that what you will, I guess. it also gets compared to mean girls a lot and I think that’s very accurate, if mean girls as a narrative was kinder to its characters (including the plastics) and actually let characters be gay in a nuanced way. and if mean girls did a better job developing the love interest so we care about him and the romance part of the plot. similar to mean girls, if you’re going to be really bothered by secondhand embarrassment, this might not be the book for you. it’s not quite as pronounced but it is there, and I did squirm through a few scenes. this didn’t subtract from my enjoyment but it might for some people. Now time for my spoiler-filled thoughts under the cut!!

So I knew going into this that it would be too much drugs and alcohol content for me, a known prude, but that being said I thought it was handled really well and I liked that the narrative had things to say about doing things in excess / requiring that stuff to be able to have fun. and thomas’s whole thing was really thoughtfully handled.

Georgiana cracked me up the whole time with her naivety. I do think part of the embarrassment of this book for me was how much she reminded me of my younger clueless self, being inexperienced in everything and scandalized by everything. I also reeeeally related to the whole “this person is friend-shaped, be my friend be my friend be my friend”-ness of her. And I’m always a sucker for a “female character is very flawed and honestly kinda shitty to her friends but learns to be a better person over the course of the narrative” story.

I LOVE BETTY. I call being #1 betty walters fan. I get crazy when I latch onto a character, all I do is wait for them to make a next appearance and scream about it when they do. But anyway I just want to say that I loved betty from her first scene and I’m so glad george finally caught on. I was initially scared that it was going to go more the route of like, george is mean to betty in the climax and then realizes she has to apologize because she feels bad for her, but the fact that they became actual genuine close friends on top of that made me very very happy. No matter what else I say please know betty was my absoluuute favorite character, I’m obsessed with her, I would die for her, etc.

This book honestly just kept subverting what I thought was going to happen. I did not see the end coming at all, particularly with the way the jeremiah plot went. It reminded me a lot of Oklahoma (the musical) and a lot of… real life lol. but yeah it was v good and I’m proud of george.

I really did not expect to get very attached to thomas. Usually when a book is a friendship book with romance also in there, I get very very wrapped up in the friendship parts and then only sort of care about the romantic lead. And it did start that way when george was initially obsessing over him, I kept just kind of being like “ok he’s here, sure”. But lex gave us a kindhearted emotions boy, which is honestly the best kind of boy, and he plays piano and his dad is nice and he keeps george in check about being a kind friend? Heck yeah. The LETTERS?? YES. listen my favorite book is ella enchanted and ever since then, any romance that involves witty written correspondence is automatically in my good books. also he has the benedick energy of like, unquestionably supporting women over his sketchy friends and that’s Always good.

I loved each of the friends in different ways, and I am a little sad that we didn’t get much closure on Cecily and Jonathan in particular, but I do understand why it ended the way that it did and I appreciate Georgiana realizing that these were never really going to be her People. That’s a really cool thing that I don’t see a lot in stories. Usually either they make friends for life, or it turns out that the group were Bad People and that’s why they go their separate ways. So the fact that it was like “no, I think they are good people and I care for them deeply, but our ways of life are just never going to be compatible in the long run so I’m just going to appreciate them in my periphery from now on” was a really nuanced take and something that I think is truer to reality.

Let’s Talk About Frances. Frances intrigued the hell out of me because I never knew what the heck she was going to do next. I do always love a bitchy woman with secret emotions and after the first vulnerable sleepover scene, in my mind I already felt like I knew where frances’s arc might be going. But lord I did NOT! It’s really really interesting to have a book that follows so many tropes of other stories but at the same time goes in completely different directions. I would’ve read a whole bunch more about frances and her emotions and her parents and her trauma, and I really hope jane is helping her heal from all that and also be less of a jerk to everyone, and if anyone is writing the “jane and frances heal from trauma and become better people together” fic I am soooo there. I’m glad we at least got the confirmation that she believes george, that she got the satisfaction of telling off jeremiah, that she’s living with jane, and that her parents have separated at least for the time being. But yeah I think in a lesser book, frances would’ve been reduced to like “the regina george” and not necessarily given all the nuances that she had, and I really appreciated how much she felt like a rounded-out person with a lot of her own shit going on. I am sad that she and george had to end the way they did, but again, it makes sense for the narrative and I’m glad they’re at least on good enough terms that she’s going to go to the wedding.

I do think there were some things that were left loose (george bringing up donating to the poor was never addressed again, frances’s parents are barely addressed again which surprised me after the mrs. walters bit, etc) but now that I’m finished with it and not waiting for certain loose ends to be tied, I think that’s kind of the point. that sometimes things just end without closure. sometimes you just move on from people and you don’t get to change them in the way you wanted to.

I probably have a bunch more to say but the main thing is that every single character in this book felt extremely three dimensional to me, and that is a Really hard thing to pull off and it has made me even more excited to read all of lex’s future books. Came for the humor, stayed for the insanely well-developed characters.

Let’s start with Lily

She is probably the only one who has an ok ish relationship with her parents? They’re kind of in that gray area of like not bad but not exactly good either and also she left em at age 11 to be a sword lady so she wasn’t that attached🤷‍♀️

So There’s this like training place for young sword people who want to become knights and shit to like go and train and shit It’s like boarding school but medieval and for knights I haven’t thought of an official name for it yet so if you want feel free to throw some suggestions at me

Anyway so lily be vibin and got invited to it because she’s very good and swording and she travels there and she ends up in this place just full of cishet jock dudes (🤢) and has to deal with ✨sexism✨

but she’s still super passionate about swording so she pushes through it (I have a short writing peice just of her dealing with this and then just popping off and holding a guy at sword point cuz she’s a girlboss ❤️)

and also she develops gifted kid syndrome because I have to project that onto someone

Must a characters backstory be fleshed out? Is it not enough for me to project my emotional issues onto a cool lady. She has a heart on her sword hilt. Because I designed her when I was 10 and I kept it because I think it’s cool. Fuck you. She’s a Mary Sue I admit this.

ANYWAY

basically her whole arc is about learning how you can’t be perfect at everything and healing and perfectionism issues and how people can love you in spite your flaws

I low key want to give her a dumb ass hobby like knitting or something like that and I want it to actually be super symbolic. She starts of fucking hating it and hating herself because she’s bad at it. but then slowly learns that you don’t have to be good at something for it to have worth. And so she loves it later. But still sucks at it because that’s the fucking point. But she’s improved a jus lil bit. As a treat❤️

Julia was raised in an @bus!v3 household with a shitty mom witch like I have details but i don’t wanna trigger anyone so I’ll leave those out and a dad who genuinely loved her but couldn’t,,didn’t know how to child,, so needless to say shit was Not Good for her at home and she kinda learned to put on this fake “haha no I’m fine :))” mask to survive

the only real relief she got was her granddads house where she got her signature lute and when playing said lute

She like would go out and just wander the town sometimes and try to be forgotten but someone would always recognize her and bring her back so she learned to be really good at simple disguises

She never had the courage to full on run away though, it was more like “maybe if I just sit in the town square and don’t move I’ll waste away and become bones :))” and then her dad would go out looking and she would be like damn not again

Her arc is more about learning what healthy relationships look like and also learning that always being “the happy one” or “the comic relief” doesn’t actually help.Repression is bad kids don’t do it

She’s the chaotic one™️ partially to hide the sadness behind goofy shenanigans and partially because sometimes you just gotta shove 20 marshmallows in to ur mouth. It’s self care. Do not question it.

As for the relationship between the two

The way they met was Julia was pulling one of her “haha I do not exist” shit and practicing her lute meanwhile lily is just out strolling after training finishes and Lilly is like “shit good music bro” and Julia is like “yo thanks bro” and they start meeting up every day and hanging out and there’s a ~connection~ there

I’m constantly switching between love at first sight and slowly and unintentionally falling in love until your up at two am like “FUCK” for the two

Currently Julia is love at first sight and lily is slow but that may as well switch at any moment

So at one point they’re like “I think I love you” “me too” but they can’t be in a relationship because homo of the sexual is illegal (that kinda ties into jaspers arc of like “shit we cause so much pain and suffering”) so they decide to run away together with Julia using her ol bag o disguises to mulan that shit and goes by her last name Charles so everyone thinks she is very straight ™️ and Lily has survival training so together they camp out in the woods hiding from the police robin-hood style with lily pretending to be Charles occasionally when they need to buy food and stuff

The whole thing is about different forms of self love and learning that your worthy of love and self recognition through the other but in a good way and they help each other work through their flaws what not

Sometimes I feel like It’s too trope-y because I’m aro and have no experience of my own in romance so it all just based of my friendships and tv romances sooo

8. do you have any writing habits?

i really had to think about this one 😳 for both juliet and my other fics i usually come up with one scene that’s That Bitch™️, and then i work out the rest!! i also get inspiration at the most random moments and if i don’t write them down immediately i’ll forget 😭 so i now have a page in my notes app of one-liners/sentences i randomly thought of!! i also have this thing where for some reason i don’t let myself repeat words like “using the word ‘said’ in two consecutive sentences? the auDACITY” 💀💀 so i have to reel myself back in and tell myself it’s 120% okay to do that ahdhjwd 🤡 and one of my worst writing habits is i over-embellish a lot, aka i use certain words even when they’re not appropriate for the setting/tone of that scene. for lack of a better explanation, there’s a chinese idiom called 畫蛇添足 which perfectly describes this habit, and it means to add unnecessary ornamentation to something that doesn’t need it 😭

I’m a 5’9.5 (basically 5’10) girl with dark skin, jet black hair (currently in long twists rn!!), and i’m on the curvier side (esp hips and my thighs) !! some of my favorite features are my plump lips (and i have a beauty mark on my bottom lip!), my long legs (that look so so so so good in skirts and dresses), my kempt and pretty fingernails, and my eyelashes !!! i’m a virgo (and surprisingly i get along with all the signs, i cant think of a sole zodiac sign i DONT mix well with), and i am an i/enfj (i got 51% extravert 49% intra the first time, then 50% for both the second time!! ) and i honestly agree—i’m an ambivert all the way! i often come off as cold/shy when meeting new people (one of my closest friends avoided me for a month before meeting me because i looked so intimidating LMAO), but once you get close to me i turn into a bundle of warmth and love: i will never stop texting them the <3 emoji every morning or buying my friends/s/o their favorite starbucks order when they need a little cheer-me-up.

  i’m extremely passionate about the issues and people i care about and the goals and dreams i have. I’m creative, patient, an extremely good listener, caring, a social butterfly, and extremely hardworking. my friends always told me of my heart of gold and how perceptive i am of the people around me—noticing immediately when something is wrong and trying to make them feel better.   I also love to go out and explore—whether trying out a new restaurant in the city or a newly opened amusement park or trying something new, like skydiving (or some other crazy but fun idea), trying recipes from around the world, or trying sledding for the first time! at the same time, i like really chill, mellow spending-time-alone-or-with-one-other-person activities like baking (my favorite treat to bake is red velvet cupcakes and cheddar bay biscuits) and dancing !! (i’ve been a dancer for more than 12 years!!). i can also speak more than 5 languages (including korean!) and i’m always saying random phrases (like thank you, i love u so much!, gtfo my face, that sucks ass) in a random language too LMFAOOO. i often think being a coffee/cafe lover is a personality trait (i love love love love love coffee) i also love accessories (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, rings, etc) and would die of happiness when the day i can wear matching accessories with my s/o comes.

besides being my bestfriend who i can kiss and whatnot (hehe), my ideal type is a TALL (THEY DONT HAVE TO BE but 5’9+...i’m already tall but pls .5 of an inch taller would be enough) man who has eyes for me and only me !!! they may look cold/cool/mysterious/laid back at first glance (like “i dont like u lol” or “yeah haha 🙂" to any other girls but “hi baby what can i do for u today to please the loml” with me <3)  but turn into the sweetest, warmest, cutest honey bun once i get to know them! (kinda like me)!! ALSO a man who can pull off all black outfits like those are my FAVORITE omg. he needs to have a BIG sense of humor (like i want to laugh every second i’m with him and laugh so hard that our stomachs start hurting and we beg each other to stop making jokes type of humor), fashionable (so i can learn fashion pls and wear coordinated outfits with him). i just want a boy who i could talk to and listen to for HOURS. like i would follow him into the bathroom as he showers and sit on the toilet and just listen to him talk about his day or vent to him, but also a boy that loves comfortable silence!! like just cuddling with each other or im studying, and hes working on a personal project so that just being with him makes me feel warm <3 i want a s/o who’s willing to go out and travel with me so i could take off guard pics of him and make him my wallpaper until he begs me to change it. im also not good at conflict so if conflict arises, id love a boy who knows how to talk me down and open up the room for conversation and make me feel safe and not as if im confronted or wrong, someone where we can just talk, resolve our problem, and make it up with a hug or night out!! this kinda leads to me wanting a relationship where we both help improve each other and our flaws (for example some of my flaws are callousness, taking things to heart sometimes, and not opening up easily, etc), so i’d really appreciate a relationship where my partner and i can help each other grow as people. i also love love love to cook, so i’d love an s/o that loves cooking with me and teaching each other how to cook each other’s cultural foods (i would love to teach my bf how to cook jollof rice and have a cookoff one day).
