I like imagining she was very particular about the armour placements #and had a chest piece added because yknow. right over the heart might I add #originally I wanted this to be more angsty but halfway through I was like wait this would completely miss the point #in my mind the armor isn’t just ‘I don’t want you to die again’ but also ‘I want to keep you safe as best I can’#in her diary she was like links armor is wearing down so you know what? HELLO ANON I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO ANSWERING THIS ASK SINCE I GOT IT (im going to assume you mean byler fics since that is my most recent specialty🫶):

a cruel summer with you by the amazing @campbyler is by FAR one of my all time favorite fics. never in my entire four year fic reading career have i read something that obviously has so much love (and lore) put into it. if you haven’t read it already (or interacted with their blog, which i highly suggest!) this would be one of my first picks! (anything by suni or thea or andi is guaranteed to strike you speechless, though, so definitely check them out as authors, too!)

take a little moment (find the right words) by my lovely friend @astrobei is definitely also in my top all time bc i am SUCH a sucker for college aus it’s not even FUNNY. anything by suni is a banger, honestly, but this one specifically nails the miscommunication/idiots in love trope AND has rotund ducks. what is not to love.

a body in motion (also by @astrobei) is one of the best and most visceral mike character studies i have ever read. i’ve read it twice and the playlist has a permanent place in my spotify library. i don’t think i need to say any more.

sleeping with the lights on by singingseok is another mike character study that tore my heart from my chest and made me watch as it picked it apart and sewed it back together. okay. it’s SO good i highly recommend it for sure!

literally anything by @parkitaco is going to be fantastic, but three of my personal faves are the gaps and the silence, the windows of this love, and you were bigger than the whole sky because apparently i love sobbing into my pillow in the middle of the night. it’s healthy sometimes.

the strawberries are dying by my favorite doopel @lighthouseas is PERFECT if you’re looking for a unique take on byler with a historical spin <3 im a SUCKER for historical aus as well so this great depression fic was so incredibly perfect hehe

landslide by chamb3rs is. it’s so good i don’t even have words. it captures the spirit of senior year of high school so well, especially now that i’m in it lol. anyway, i’ve read this one twice and will continue to read it again for the rest of forever <3

and lastly, if you’re looking for spiderman aus (which i LOVE), look before you leap by lumism, the higher i climb, the farther i fall by @andiwriteordie, and mike wheeler’s guide to falling in love with a superhero by @smoosnoom are all wonderful perfect places to start 💗

benny was also like incredibly abusive to yes man and kept him trapped in that shitty side room. it’s no wonder yes man genuinely loves the courier regardless of if they make decisions he likes or not after being liberated from benny. courier must be an angel to him

I think incredibly abusive is a bit much.

Like Benny was not kind to Yes-Man but he was not particularly cruel. If Yea-Man was let out of the room then anyone could’ve asked him anything and outed the plan, leading to him and Benny being exiled at best or killed (permanently in Yes-Mans case) at worse. Yeah, it was Benny’s fault he was like this but it was probably the only fail safe to keep House’s systems from tapping into Yes-Man, by giving him no code to reject commands the only way to influence him would be in person. House can’t do that.

Also liberated makes it sound like you are treating Yes-Man like an equal when you’re just treating him slightly better than most would treat a personalized Mr. Handy bot. Benny isn’t nice to him, didn’t give him a real name, but he definitely loved Yes-Man, more like a science project but that was his thing y’know? Robots with personalities like him that aren’t common in the Mojave and are considered odd. Benny already did a lot more than someone who’d just mistreat his creation by allowing him to be passive-aggressive in the first place. He let Yes-Man think which a big step from most AI programs in the Mojave.

I think the issue is Yes-Man genuinely appreciates the Courier for getting the plan in motion but that wasn’t a lack of Benny. He had completely different circumstances than the Courier that didn’t allow him to be as bold. Yes-Man learns to love the Courier because they come to rule Vegas and he sees them as competent and the next logical leader now that Benny is no longer his primary overseer.

Honestly the Courier and Yes-Man are closer to a exclusive business partnership by the end of the independent route if we go by the general answers. The Courier can be as nice or as mean to Yes-Man as they want and Yes-Man does not see the Courier as flawless or an angel just the next logical step in a plan. Of course, depending on what you do or headcanon, their relationship can be much more complex than that but on a even ground between all of the options, Yes-Man and the Courier are means to an end to each other.

A popular theory before New Vegas had the current fandom it did and developer commentary was that Yes-Man was going to betray you at the end of the independent route. Lying that he’d just upgrade himself to only listen to you so you wouldn’t stop him. Some people still follow it despite it being debunked while other love the idea he genuinely only wants to listen to you.

It’s all up to interpretation my dear. I personally don’t think Benny was cruel to Yes-Man not more than he is to another Chairman. He’s a robot, of course, to Benny and that has its own connotations on how he was treated but I digress. The Courier is far from an angel or saint to anyone but I do like the idea that there’s a fondness from Yes-Man. Lee so how they can be so illogically efficient rather than what they’ve done fore him.

#yes man is also oddly violent and I love it that he probably is revved up about you letting him kill things #but again it’s complicating and I see to see everything from a truly objective lens from all parties #cause we don’t know how Benny treated Yes Man outside his program and his rather positive comments on the securitron #Yes Man cannot just roam like Victor can and I’d say how house treats Victor and his girl bot are much more abusive #speaking of interpretation I need to make a post about Boone and the military industrial complex cause I feel like too many people are #missing the point of his character and quest like he’s been groomed and abused by the military industrial complex and he’s only like 26 #he’s been there for years he’s not innocent but please in need a nuanced take on him that isn’t just he should’ve known better #I’ll get on that eventually #fallout #fallout new vegas #benny gecko #benny fnv #courier six #the courier #yes man fnv #ask #anon

No content, just something I thought upon when thinking of the movie (something that is on my mind so very often.)

Just, thinking of Leo, when he’s separated from everyone and everything, being completely silent. Even being so horrifically beaten as he was, even being in a true nightmare scenario, he is silent in his suffering. Smiles through it, even.

At the moment where it would have been more than justified to make any noise, he stays silent.

have 2 ask… what’s ur rendering process??? because like idk if this makes sense but your work always looks like if someone drew with oil pastel colored pencils and i have NO IDEA how u do that shit 😭😭 sorry if this is like. a lot to ask i’ve always been so curious

i usually start out w a rough sketch and lay down base colors under it and when i’m ready merge the layers and start painting it and adding detail ! sometimes i even just paint over the sketch on one layer

i do this with most of my stuff becasue it makes it easier to bring together the lines and color in an interesting way and also easier to like. redo a face or something without having to go back and forth on each layer.

and for colors and shading i just experiment with colors and diff hues. go crazy use a bunch of varying hues and shades for shading and lighting instead of one chosen color. putting a slight hue change/jitter on ur brush also adds a lot to the piece. and when i render if it’s more stylized i just go in with fun shapes and scribbles and lines!!! sometimes a color choice looks really weird up close but really good once ur finished. just go crazy and experiment is my advice.

#layers are a lifesaver at times and i definitely use them like crazy but also making urself use no layers is a very good exercise #it’s why i like ms paint so much lol #i don’t have the brushes k use rn sorry…. maybe i’ll share later if i remember #also i don’t remember where i get most brushes i download them then find them one day years later #but the reg airbrush with pen pressure is VERY GOOD!!! use airbrush #and i use clip studio paint #☀️🌈🔥#asks #maybe i’ll go more in depth about how i pick colors someday …..

dracula daily literary analysis: mina’s introduction

around the time in which dracula was written, the concept of women and womanhood was being redefined and revolutionized - so much so that there was even a name for this phenomenon of female power: the new woman.

the new woman was a feminist archetype used to describe independent women who were feminists, educated, career-driven, and sought to make a space for themselves outside of the home sphere. mina is introduced in dracula by talking of her career as a school mistress’s assistant, her hopes at getting better at stenography and typewriting, and equating herself to a journalist; mina is basically The New Woman archetype personified. yes, she still cares for and loves her fiancé, but it’s obvious that she has her own drives and goals, and that she is educated and independent.

as the book continues (and if you’d like to think about these things as you read), i think it would be beneficial to pay attention to how mina is treated by the narrative and other characters. because she is the archetype of the developing modern, independent woman, her place in the story matters a whole lot, and keeping an eye on how her power (or lack thereof) impact the narrative may just mean keeping an eye on how women were dealt with and thought of at the time

hi, I don't use tumblr often, but i when i do, i always check your account to check if you posted something. LIAB is amazing. i truly have no words. i have read a LOT of fanfics from very different fandoms and i can confidently say that Leaving It All Behind is the best one i have ever read. the world you've built around the main characters is so deep, and realistic. even though benders are not real, it feels like i'm reading about true events. you describe the horrors of war and trauma so well. i'm actually very, very impressed. i happen to be a person that suffers from ptsd and other mental illnesses and and the way you portray traumatized characters is very realistic. i know you always say that the main characters' recovery is unrealistically fast, but don't worry about that. the way you describe zuko and sokka's feelings is perfect. their recovery doesn't seem rushed. it just looks like they're adapting and learning how to deal with it fast (we have to remember that the war is still very much happening and sadly they don't have a lot of time to deal with everything that happened to them). i'm so grateful i found your work. it's truly amazing, i hope you won't give up on writing when you finish the LIAB trilogy. have a good day/night

seriously this was so kind I’m still in shock. I’m so happy you think the healing arc is realistic because I try to balance the stories pace with the characters struggles and emotions (some of them make it DIFFICULT haha) but I’m always worried it doesn’t translate well.

#This is so validating you have no idea ahhhh #I have read so many fics where the chatacter (zuko lol) has gone through extreme trauma or torture and he gets rescued or escapes #& then it’s like after a quick patch up job he is essentially back to normal #Which… no. lol. its so hard to watch time pass when things like careers and assignments exist. what do you mean im supposed to take that seriously

#I have an assignment that was due a week ago and I really really dont want to do it. I have to but i dont want to #im probably making it worse because my brain has built a wall around it so now i can’t do literally anything else until thats done. but #because I don’t want to do it I’m just kinda stuck. turns out this is what they meant when they said emotional regulation is part of #exec dysfunction.. I’ll have a thought like if I get a little bit of it done now i can get it over with. I can just submit something #and then not even 5 minutes later itll be like ugh but I have to draw all the assets out. I have to write things and make spreads ugh #and its just flopping between those two things. i hate it when ppl are like well how much time do you need to work on one thing #because BOY id love to know too. HELLO WULF my issue is that i like rambling about so many different things all the time and it makes my head explode :/ but didja know that ugm 😳i find fandom very fascinating in the sense that so many people act like it’s a permanent debate club when really it was never that serious. There’s something rlly interesting 2 me about the genuine contradiction so many people abide to when engaging with art vs other people who enjoy said art. This idea that there has to be a right vs wrong, an agreement on everything down to the smallest minuscular detail; but only YOU are the one that’s ever right. Everyone else DOESN’T GET IT. Everyone else is enjoying YOUR thing INCORRECTLY. It’s this pretentious outlook where you believe that you’re the only one capable of setting the record straight and everyone else should really be following suit. This belief that you’re important enough to warrant this sort of “I know more than you” attitude over shit that doesn’t even exist when you turn off your phone. Getting so wrapped up in it that you allow it dictatorship over your mental state and social circle. What is anyone arguing over. How are you not tired.
