told you so
yangyang x reader, fluff
summary: you like yangyang and ten tries to convince you that he likes you back.
a/n: soooo sorry that it’s been so long LOLLL but hopefully i’ll get back into writing now that it’s summer ^^
Tumblr media
“give me one reason why i should believe you.”
ten frowned at you. “what? you don’t trust me?”
“of course i trust you, but how do you know for sure? i don’t want to risk it.” you slapped ten gently on the shoulder when he continued to frown at you. “don’t look at me like that, it’s not going to help your case.”
ten erased the frown from his face and rolled his eyes, flipping onto his back with a loud groan. “my two babies like each other and are too stupid to realize it. you guys drive me nuts.”
you laughed and threw a pillow at him. “shut up. and we’re not your babies. i’m not your cat, weirdo.”
***
both you and yangyang were busy college students, but even then you two always made time for each other. whether that was rushed lunches in the quad, or childhood movies at each others dorms at 2 am. you considered him your closest friend, and he considered you his own. you basically already acted like a couple, the only thing that was missing was the label (and kisses, of course).
ten wasn’t sure if the two of you were scared, oblivious, or stupid, so he settled with assuming that you were all three. even mark could see that you two liked each other, and he was slow to pick up on things.
when ten decided that convincing you wasn’t going to work, he turned his attention back to yangyang. yangyang held a bit more confidence than you did, but ten knew it would diminish the moment he found out there was the slightest chance that you liked him back.
it made ten want to slam his head into a wall.
“yangyang, why would i lie to you? do you think i want to see you humiliate yourself?” ten sighed, clearly very frustrated.
yangyang shrugged. “i mean, i wouldn’t be surprised.” at this, ten rolled his eyes. “but seriously there’s, like, no way y/n likes me back. she probably likes mark, or something, and you’re trying to fool me.”
ten took hold of yangyang’s shoulders and stared him dead in the eyes. “if i’m wrong about this i’ll buy you food for a week.”
yangyang drew back from ten and raised a brow, saying, “either you’re serious or way too into a prank, dude.”
ten hung his head in exhaustion, sighing. “oh my god, i can’t stand this anymore. forget my deal, you’re stupid.”
yangyang pouted as ten walked away, slightly offended by his comment. “rude,” he grumbled under his breath.
***
yangyang bounced his knee up and down, his gaze continuously flickering back and forth between the clock on the wall and his paper. the two of you had planned to have lunch together since you hadn’t been able to hangout for the past few days, and yangyang was insistent on being on time. he wasn’t sure why, but his hands seemed to be sweatier than usual and his heart couldn’t help but skip a beat at the thought of seeing you again.
he shook his head as if to get himself to stop thinking about you, mumbling to himself, “god, what is wrong with me?”
he nearly jumped out of his skin when a mutual friend of his, jaemin, tapped on his shoulder. jaemin stared at him in amusement and took a small step back. “my bad, didn’t mean to scare you. you okay?”
yangyang chuckled awkwardly and said, “yeah, sorry, i just spaced out. what’s up?”
jaemin leaned on the desk in front of yangyang casually. “you’re friends with y/n, right?”
yangyang tensed at his question, fearing where this conversation was going. “uh, yeah, why?”
“do you think you could get me her number?”
yangyang blinked at him before quickly clearing his throat, realizing he had been staring like an idiot. “...can’t you, like, get it from her yourself?”
the corners of jaemin’s lips curled up into a small smile. he shrugged, saying, “i could, but asking you saves me the trouble.”
yangyang sat there stumbling over his own words before directing his attention to his classmates leaving the classroom. using this as his chance to escape, yangyang stood abruptly.
“i’ll get back to you on that...eventually. i got to go, so...bye!” yangyang said to jaemin, flashing him a fake smile before dashing out of the room.
yangyang couldn’t help but feel uneasy at the thought of jaemin having a crush on you, but he tried his best to convince himself that wasn’t the case. whether it was because he was nervous or because he didn’t want to be late, yangyang picked up his pace and sent you a text telling you that he was on his way.
you sat patiently on the grass under a tree that you and yangyang had unofficially called your “spot”, jumping when yangyang fell into the spot next to you. he was panting slightly, but still had a bright smile on his face.
“did you run? why are you out of breath?” you asked while laughing at how he tried fixing his hair.
“didn’t want to keep you waiting, i guess,” yangyang huffed out. your cheeks warmed up at the comment, making you look down in embarrassment. to distract yangyang from seeing your flushed expression, you turned to grab the food from your bag.
just like any other time that you two would have lunch together, you cracked jokes and took stupid pictures, enjoying each other’s company for as long as you could. moments like these made you forget that you and yangyang were just friends, which meant that the reality check at the end of the day hurt a lot more.
“hey, do you know jaemin?” yangyang asked suddenly.
“na jaemin?” you nodded at yangyang and said, “yeah, he might be in a class or two of mine. why?”
“just curious. what do you think of him? is he, like, cool or anything?” yangyang asked nervously. he turned away and mentally slapped himself. you sound so stupid right now.
to his relief, you replied, “i don’t know him very well, so i wouldn’t know. he seems quiet.”
yangyang hummed in reply. you chuckled and nudged his shoulder. “what? you got a crush on him?”
yangyang rolled his eyes playfully and scoffed. “oh, shut up.”
you laughed before checking your phone and sighing. “shit, i gotta get going. sorry to cut it short, yang.”
yangyang waved you off and stood up, offering you a hand to pull you up which you gratefully took. “no worries, i’m glad we got to do this today.” he almost melted when you shot him a smile.
“me too. see you later, okay?” you waved him goodbye as you walked away.
yangyang sighed and shook his head as soon as you left, the thought of you and jaemin refusing to leave his mind. he grumbled to himself, “grow a pair and confess, yangyang, come on.”
***
“well, now i’m sure he doesn’t like me, ten,” you said into your phone as you laid on your bed, facing your ceiling.
“what? why?” ten’s voice rang throughout your small dorm room.
“he kept asking me about na jaemin, i think he’s trying to set me up with him, or something.” you frowned at the thought.
“no! he is definitely not trying to do that.”
you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. “how would you know?”
“because i told jaemin to ask him for your number. i thought that yangyang would stop being a pussy and confess but i can tell that didn’t go as planned,” ten said. you could almost hear his sheepish smile.
had ten been here, you would’ve strangled him. “why are you so invested in my love life?”
“y/n, without me you don’t have a love life. be grateful that i’m even trying to help you out here.”
you couldn’t help but laugh.  “well you’re not doing a very good job.”
“and you are? excuse me, but you’re just as much of a pussy as yang,” ten laughed through the phone. “quit pissing me off and tell him you like him already before he comes crying to me about how he thinks you and jaemin are going to start dating. i gotta go, louis turned on my stove and might burn down the place.”
you laughed lightly. “alright, talk you later. and keep your nose out of my business!”
after you hung up you sat on your bed and stared blankly at the wall of your dorm. typically you tried not to listen to ten as it only ever got you in trouble, but you decided that maybe this time he was right. if he was going through all this trouble, he couldn’t have been lying, right?
right?
***
much to ten’s dismay, he seems to have been right about yangyang and his whining.
“no, like, you don’t understand. he totally likes her. and he’s na jaemin. there’s like no way she wouldn’t like him back! i would have a crush on him too, bro.” ten shook his head at the way yangyang sat glumly on his bed, combing his bangs over his eyes.
“do you ever listen to what i tell you? i have been telling you for several weeks that she likes you. you and your idiotic self,” ten said while shoving his shoulder to get his attention. “and if you don’t listen to me this time, i will make sure that her and jaemin start dating just so that i can see you writhe in pain.”
“that’s so low, dude,” yangyang mumbled into his pillow which he had shoved his face into.
“low like your game with girls. now go get her flowers and confess!”
***
“she liked tulips right? come on yangyang, you should know this,” yangyang mumbled to himself. in his hands was a bouquet of followers which he has just bought you as well as a bag full of a few of your favorite things.
he was tripping over himself as he walked over to your dorm, his palms sweaty and his throat dry from anxiety. before he could open the door to your dorm complex, he stopped and stood at the base of the stairs.
“does she even like tulips? should i go back? oh my god, can i shut up and go?” yangyang argued with himself.
before he even had the chance to turn around and bail, your voice had called out to him, making him freeze.
“yangyang? what are you doing here?” you asked.
he turned around to see you with a large stuffed animal in your arms and a small bag that was similar to the one he was holding.
“y/n! oh my god!” yangyang wasn’t sure of what to say or do but he could see your gaze flickering from the flowers in his hands back to his nervous gaze. he saw the corner of your lips curl up into a small smile and felt his worries slowly ease away.
“i’m guessing ten talked to you too?” you chuckled, making your way towards him.
yangyang laughed nervously. “um, yes, quite aggressively too.” he held the tulips in his hands out to you. “i got these for you. you do like tulips, right?”
you smiled and nodded. “of course i do. you know me so well,” you teased. you handed over the stuffed animal to which yangyang gladly took into his arms. “i remember you talking about how badly you wanted this one from the store so i went and bought it for you.”
“thank you, i love it.”
the two of you looked at it each other for a moment before breaking out into bright smiles that you seemed to be unable to control. yangyang hesitantly took your hand into his own before brushing a strand of hair out of your face.
“i really like you,” he said softly.
“i know,” you laughed when he frowned and rolled his eyes. placing a kiss on his cheek you said, “i really like you too.”
“is it okay if i kiss you?” yangyang mumbled. you nodded excitedly, but before you could share your first kiss, yangyang’s phone buzzed.

have you confessed or not i have jaemin with me right now
yangyang scoffed at the text making you furrow your brows in confusion. “who is it?”
“just ten. come here, i need to send him a picture of us.”
“for...what?”
“for proof!”
“proof? proof for wh-“
“i’ll explain later, just come here.” yangyang wrapped his arm around your shoulder and pressed a kiss to your cheek, catching you by surprise. “and....sent! now back to that kiss...”
you shoved him at the sight of him wiggling his eyebrows making him laugh. “just shut up already.”
“if you say so,” yangyang sang.
you both smiled into the kiss, knowing that the both of you had been waiting for this moment forever, giggling when you finally pulled away. yangyang caressed your cheek gently before pulling out his phone to check ten’s reply.

public ShortComings right now right now right now right now ri
LMAO I HAVE SUMMONED CONSTELLAJ WITH MY DASH REDEMPTION ARC KLSADJSALKDJALK anyway heres the episode idea under the cut!!!
Tumblr media
the premise/start of the episode is similar to its canon counterpart. danny needs to pass an important physical exam and is paired with dash as a fitness buddy to help prepare for it. however, instead of jack just blasting phantom, a ghost, and an innocent bystander outside the house with the shrink ray and promptly fucks off to not deal with the consequences of that, the shrink blaster is introduced early on to danny as a prototype still in the works. it is then left in the lab until it is needed later and the set up for the actual fitness buddy stuff comes into play.
the real deviation from micro management happens when skulker attacks the duo. danny randomly shouts to scatter in opposite directions to throw the ghost off as a thinly veiled excuse to have a place to transform and promptly bolts...... except dash doesnt run in the opposite direction like he was supposed to. danny gets to a secluded area and starts slowing down, like half a second away from going ghost, before being pushed by dash to keep running with skulker following close behind.
while still running for their lives, danny is just like???? why the fuck did you follow me i said scatter????? to which dash promptly says “dude that ghost was definitely chasing you and there’s no way you can out run it, you would’ve been toast.” to further prove the point, danny is unable to shake dash off his tail and actually is struggling to keep up in human form, to the point where dash is practically carrying him while occasionally tossing him ahead to force him to run without falling behind.
danny, realizing that he wont be able to turn into phantom anytime soon, decides “okay change of plans, we’ll do this the human way” and steers dash towards the direction of fentonworks to get ghost weapons instead. they eventually hit the lab and danny starts grabbing ectoguns and starts blasting at skulker who is putting up quite the fight. dash, seeing the struggle, tries to help too. he grabs some guns of his own, but being more unfamiliar with the tech, he grabs a lot of duds or stuff not fully loaded. in his frantic panic, one of the guns dash grabs ends up being the unfinished shrink blaster.
before danny can stop him, the blast goes off but instead of shrinking only the target, it malfunctions and hits everyone in the room and a couple of weapons here and there. the shrink explosion knocks everyone back quite a bit so they’re far away from the gun and idk some bullshit about jack coming in to be like huh that’s weird and taking it somewhere else. shrunken shenanigans ensue.
if danny couldnt get away to transform before, he DEFINITELY cant now (how is he gonna explain disappearing and then having a mini phantom show up lol). so he an dash are stuck together. they grab all the tiny weapons they can and set off, having tiny happenings and that all along the way similarly to canon. the only difference is danny more discreetly using his his powers and covering it up by saying it was fenton tech. it leads to some funny stuff and danny trying to badly lie through his teeth.
this episode builds on both dash’s character and how his view on danny starts to change. this event is sorta the kicker to his whole redemption arc in the nasty reboot timeline, having moments/seeds somewhat sown before this but never full on sprouting until this moment. dash has seen danny hold his own in a fight before, but only in teams, with his friends, and behind weapons (i.e pirate radio) up until this point. as their weapons start to lose ammo and supplies (and, unknown to dash, danny’s powers) dash starts to REALLY see how resourceful and charismatic danny is on his own. all other possible factors are removed here, its just pure, unfiltered, human danny fenton baby!
even when dash has his breakdown similar to canon, the kid he picked on for years still extends a hand and helps him out of it. even when the goal seems so far away like they’ll never make it, danny tells him to press on and keeps moving forward. even when they’re at their wits end and dash cant for the life of him figure out a way out of the situation, danny still!! somehow!!!! does!!!!!!! all these little moments make dash start to fall in love appreciate the skillset and merits danny has all on his own. (theres also like themes of danny learning how to properly balance/maintain both of his lives and learning he has valuable skillsets as fenton too instead of being a useless half in this reboot. dash’s validation is a small part of what encourages danny into realizing his worth. because, hell, if your bully thinks you’re doing alright then thats gotta mean something, right?)
the climax of the episode is when danny is backed into a corner by skulker with no ammo, no powers, and no significant physical strength. but even so, danny decides to go off the deep end by launching himself at skulker and starts smacking the shit out of the ghost with nothing but an empty ectogun and blind gremlin rage.
Tumblr media
(exactly like this lol)
in the struggle, danny is doing surprisingly well (which dash absolutely notes in awe) but then at one point, skulker points a weapon in prime position to shoot danny without him noticing. dash panics and rushes to pull fenton off of skulker, but danny, upon realizing what dash is doing, takes opportunity and latches onto skulker’s head trying to pry it off with dash’s combine strength (much to dash’s confusion).
Tumblr media
basically, danny manages to rip skulker’s fucking head off (dash is horrified until danny shows him the actual ghost and how his body was just a suit) and sucks up skulker into a spare thermos. the two then use the suit to jet pack them up onto the welding table in the ops center where jack had been tinkering with it.
the shrink blaster had its final fixes implemented in it now, with a reverse switch as well, so danny and dash easily changes back to normal. they share a bit of a moment, similar to phantom and dash in canon. but instead of dash ruining the moment this time, its danny who simply states “well the adrenaline has worn off so i should probably tell you my leg is most likely fractured” before collapsing onto dash. at some point during the tussle with skulker, danny’s leg apparently got scrunched pretty hard to the point of being broken but danny was being too feral in the moment to react right away.
(again, as stated in a previous ask, my shitpost jock protection squad au took various elements from this plotline in the reboot so there will be overlap but its not canon)
because of the broken leg situation, danny is unable to do the test but is allowed to retake it once he recovers. of course, this means dash is still danny’s fitness buddy. this gives an excuse for them to be stuck together for a little longer and so the redemption process begins!!!! (even if danny’s leg technically already healed after a day or so lol)

Blackberries (Adrinette April) Day 27: Naps
Or see it on AO3: Blackberries
--------
“Wait, you know what Adrien’s words are?” Nino said, looking surprised.
“Of course I do. We compared words when we were kids,” Chloé said, folding her arms across her chest. What she was saying was true: Adrien remembered that moment well. He had been disappointed at the time to see that Chloé had the words ‘excuse me, you dropped your cell phone’ written across her chest. More distinctive than most, but still no where near what he had first said to her.
‘Chloé hasn’t found her soulmate yet, right?’ Marinette thought, her eyes flicking around the room to track the rest of their classmates’ reactions.
‘Not as far as I know, and I’m positive that she would’ve told me if she had,’ Adrien thought, following Marinette’s glance. Mostly everyone looked somewhere between surprised and curious at Chloé’s outburst, and he realized that it was a good thing Lila had already left. There would’ve been a lot of fuel added to the fire had Lila still been in the room.
“Why didn’t you say so before?” Alya demanded.
“I didn’t think I had to considering that Adrien himself told you all that Lila didn’t say his words,” Chloé said. “Or did you forget about that?”
Alya opened her mouth and then closed it before looking over at Adrien. “Umm…”
“Wait, so you and Lila really aren’t soulmates?” Rose said, looking disappointed.
“No,” Adrien, Chloé and Marinette all said in perfect unison.
“And you’re sure you’re not just saying that because you’re worried about your father?” Nino asked. “Because Dude, we’d all do whatever was necessary to help you if that was the case.”
Adrien sighed, more touched by that than he wanted to let on. “Nino, I am absolutely, 100% sure that Lila Rossi is not my soulmate. I don’t know what Lila thought she felt, but I have never felt anything towards her. And before anyone says anything, my father did not put blocks on me,” he added sharply, shooting a glare at Max. Max had the decency to look a little guilty, considering that he was the one who had suggested that in the first place.
“He’s also not lying because of Marinette before anyone bothers to use that as an excuse,” Chloé said flatly, staring Alya down. “Believe me, if that were the case, I’d be the first to support anything that makes Adrien and Marinette break up.”
‘You know, I don’t think that’s so true anymore,’ Adrien thought. ‘Chloé likes you.’
‘I can’t believe I’m admitting this, but I’m starting to like her too,’ Marinette thought back. ‘Turns out a little mutual hatred over someone goes a long way.’
“I’m not willing to let anyone see my words,” Adrien said, because he was pretty sure that Alya was gearing up again to ask for just that. “It’s too risky. If my fans caught wind of what they were –” He cut himself off and shuddered. He had seen other celebrities far bigger than him fall into that trap, and it was always disastrous. People had even gone so far as to tattoo words on their bodies just to make themselves seem like a celebrity’s soulmates. Some of his fans could be a little too dedicated.
“No one is going to ask you to do that,” Nino said, shooting Alya firm look. “We believe you.”
“Good. Then I think it’s time that this stupid rumor was officially dropped,” Chloé said. “Because if it gets back to Gabriel Agreste, then it’s going to cause a lot of trouble for Adrikins.” She very slowly looked around the classroom, pinning each of their classmates with a cold glare until they squirmed and looked away. Alya was the last person that Chloé made eye contact with, and Alya held out the longest but eventually even she dropped her gaze.
“I also think everyone owes Adrien an apology,” Marinette spoke up.
‘Mari!’ Adrien thought. ‘That’s not necessary!’
Naturally, Marinette ignored that and added, “Adrien told everyone that Lila wasn’t his soulmate, but all of you assumed that he had to be lying. You took the word of someone you barely know over your friend and now those rumors have spread through the whole school, which isn’t fair to him.”
“You’re right. We’re sorry,” Nino said.
“Sorry, Adrien,” Rose piped up, looking guilty, and everyone else murmured their apologies too. Alya sighed.
“Yeah, I’m sorry too. I guess I got caught up in the idea of having three soulmate pairs in one class,” she said. “Lila must have been mistaken.”
“Yeah… mistaken,” Marinette said, and Adrien could see the way that she exchanged a glance with Chloé.
“It’s okay. But I would appreciate it if you would set everyone else straight too. Chloé’s right. If any of this got back to my father, he would be very upset,” Adrien said. “Frankly, it’s a miracle that he hasn’t heard yet.” Or rather, that Nathalie hadn’t heard and spread word back to Gabriel.
“We’ll spread the word at lunch time,” Alix said.
“Thank you,” Adrien said, relieved. He really hoped that this would be the end of people believing Lila’s lies – well, at least when it came to the two of them being soulmates. He wasn’t optimistic enough to think that this would be the start of people realizing that Lila had been lying about everything.
“You know,” Chloé began.
“Chloé, don’t,” Adrien said instantly. Naturally, she ignored him.
“Rossi owes you an apology too,” Chloé said stubbornly. “She helped to perpetuate that rumor even after you told her that you weren’t her soulmate. I even heard her telling people that Marinette was forcing you to lie.”
“What?!” Alya exclaimed. “You must have misheard her. Lila wouldn’t do that.”
Chloé looked very much like she was going to tell Alya exactly how far Lila had already gone, but Madame Bustier chose to walk into the classroom at that very moment and, unaware of the topic of conversation, told them all to get out their math books. Adrien couldn’t decide if he was glad for their teacher’s timing or not. He really didn’t want to see Alya and Chloé get into a fight over what Lila had done so far. It was enough for him, for now, that their classmates finally believed that Lila wasn’t his soulmate.
‘You’re too nice sometimes, Adrien,’ Marinette thought.
‘I’m not being nice. I just don’t want to see Chloé get in trouble,’ Adrien thought back as he pulled his math book out. ‘She has no proof that Lila said that, and people will be naturally skeptical to believe her just because it’s Chloé saying it and they know what she’s like.’
Marinette paused, then sighed. ‘I guess you’re right. Everyone is still too willing to give Lila the benefit of the doubt. I can’t wait for the day more of her lies blow up in her face.’
“Okay class, I’m going to start with attendance and then we’re going to move right into your math homework,” Madame Bustier said. “Now let’s see, who –”
“Holy shit!” Alya blurted out suddenly.
“Alya!” Madame Bustier said.
“Sorry Madame, but there’s a new akuma!” Alya sounded much more excited about the news than she really should have. “Please, could I –”
“No,” Madame Bustier interrupted, holding up a hand.
“But – ”
“We’ve talked about this, Alya. I can’t keep letting you leave class just to film akumas,” Madame Bustier said, sounding exasperated. “If you got hurt, the school be held liable. And no, I don’t care that Ladybug eventually heals everyone.”
Adrien glanced over at Marinette. Their eyes met, and they really didn’t need a telepathic bond to know what each other was thinking. Marinette stood up.
“Madame Bustier, Lila didn’t come back to the classroom and now there’s an akuma. As class president, I volunteer to go find her and tell her about the situation!” she said, making a dash for the door.
“You shouldn’t go alone. I’ll go with you!” Adrien said, leaping to his feet and following.
“Marinette! Adrien!” Madame Bustier shouted after them. That was shortly followed by a loud crash and a scream. Chloé’s scream. Adrien slowed.
‘No, don’t. If it’s the akuma, we can’t help her the way we are,’ Marinette thought, grabbing his hand. She pulled him along, heading for the art room. At this time of the morning, it would be empty. They ducked inside and Adrien pulled the door shut.
“Oh dear, this is really bad,” Tikki exclaimed, bursting out of Marinette’s purse.
Plagg emerged from Adrien’s pocket far more slowly, yawning. “Ugh, I was having a good nap,” he whined. “Must we?”
“Yes, we must,” Adrien said tersely. “Plagg, claws out!”
“Tikki, spots on!”
As the green and red lights faded, Chat looked at his partner. “I’ll say one thing. It’s really nice to not have to make an excuse to separate to transform,” he said, thinking back to when they’d faced Animan. That had been really frustrating.
Ladybug smiled. “It sure saves a lot of time,” she said. “Now come on, Chaton. Let’s do our thing!”

Patton knew he couldn't stay here anymore. As he stared at his reflection, eyes narrowing down his wide chest and hourglass shape in this pink dress, he felt his chest compress in and out uncomfortably. Nothing would ever make this bearable.
"Patricia! What is taking you so long in there?!"
His mother's voice was shrill and frustrating. She would never understand. She refused to listen when Patton ever told her anything about how he felt.
"I'm coming, mother."
Patton heard his mother huff on the other side of his bedroom door.
"If you make us late for Alice's wedding, you will regret it." His mother threatened. She stomped away and down the stairs.
Patton touched his reflection in the mirror and sighed. Time to go pretend again. Patton shook his head, plastered on the biggest smile he could, and slipped on his shoes as he left his barren bedroom.
×××
Patton stared out of the window of the car as it bounced down the country road. His cousin Alice was getting married to her fiancee Julia today. Patton was so happy for them. His mother on the other hand…
"I don't know why Alice dated all those men her life if she was just going to marry another woman." His mother said to his stepfather.
The man shrugged. "Must be true love."
"Ha! That's hilarious. Julia just wants Alice's fortune, I'm sure. My sister left her daughter comfortable for life. Everyone has been wanting a piece of that pie." Patton's mother laughed.
Patton glared daggers into the back of his mom's head. Nobody more than you, you stuck up bitch.
"Patricia."
Patton glanced up to meet eyes with his mother's in the rearview mirror, not moving his head.
"Yes?"
"You better not screw this up for me. No mentioning of any of that nonsense you told me last night." She said, her voice laced with malicious intent. "You're my daughter. I raised you for the past fourteen years as such. Who knows what will happen if the rest of my family finds out I'm raising a tranny?" Patton clenched his dress in his left fist so hard his knuckles were white. "I will not be disowned because of your selfishness. You will love the body God gave you or so help me…"
"Martha, please let it go." Patton's stepfather interjected, cutting the tension.
"No, Chris. She needs to learn this tranny fad going around now is just that: a fad. Nothing more. It won't make you any cooler to pretend to be a boy." Martha said, slowing the vehicle and turning into a driveway.
Patton could see a large party set up in the distance. The huge field was full of people. One area full of chairs and the other full of tables and Patton could see one full of food too. His mother pulled the car to a rest next to a few others and she got out quickly, opening the side door next to Patton.
"Did I make myself clear, Patricia?" She asked, staring directly into his eyes.
"Crystal." Patton agreed, stepping out of the vehicle past his mom.
"Good." Martha closed the door and walked towards the party alone.
Patton took a deep breath. A few months ago, he would've cried. His heart would've been torn apart but his mother's words were so common they really didn't affect him much anymore.
"I'm sorry, Pat." Chris came up behind him with his hands shoved in his dress jacket pockets. "I… I disagree with her but there's little I can do."
Patton shrugged. "It's alright."
Chris leaned over. "There's a change of clothes for you in the car." He whispered.
Patton's head snapped to him with a big smile. "Really?"
"Yeah bud, I got you something from the store the other day. I think you'll like it." Chris winked as he walked away.
Patton glanced around looking for his mom but she was long gone. He dashed to the back of the car and opened it to see a small bag from Macy's, the opening tied shut with a blue string. Snatching it up, Patton shut the car door and ran inside the nearby house. He had never much cared for parties and besides, Alice was probably inside and he really wanted to see her.
"Patricia!" a voice caught him mid walk upstairs. Looking down he saw his Uncle Dave, Alice's stepfather. "Come here and give your uncle a hug!"
Patton did as he was told and hugged his Uncle. He was a nice man-- Patton knew that for sure. Dave had married Alice's mom shortly before the cancer returned and had been there for his wife all throughout the hospital stays. Patton remembered seeing him crying next to her in the hospital room, holding her hand and wishing he could just take all of her pain. He truly loved her.
"You look so adorable, Patty!" Uncle Dave said as he spun Patton around. Patton giggled. "Alice is upstairs so I assume that's where you were heading?"
"Yes sir." Patton said which resulted in Uncle Dave messing his hair up. "Hey-!"
"No need to be so formal, champ. Head on up and see her. She's missed you these past couple of months." Uncle Dave said. He winked and headed through the doorway towards the back side of the house.
Patton scurried up the stairs and heard more talking, realizing it was coming from the farthest room. He knocked gently and a voice called out, "Who is it?"
"It's… Patt-" he cleared his throat. He didn't know who was in this room. "It's Patricia."
The door flew open so quickly and before he realized it, he was swept into someone's arms, seeing nothing but white zooming around him. Once he regained his bearings he was pulled away from the person to see Alice staring right back at him with a huge grin on her face. Her makeup was half completed and her blonde hair was pulled up away from her face.
"Alice!" Patton cried out happily, hugging her again. He felt tears pricking at his eyes but he forced them back.
"Hey, Patton…" Alice whispered into his ear.
The dam broke.
Patton began sobbing into her shoulder and he tried his best not to get anything on the beautiful wedding dress. He heard Alice ask the other two women in the room to give them a little bit of time and they left. Alice pulled Patton away from her, wiping his tears.
"How's my favorite little cousin?" Alice said, more speaking about favorites than actually expecting an answer. "My most masculine, handsome cousin?" She said sincerely.
Patton rubbed his eyes and sighed. "She told me no, Alice."
Alice's face when from calm to irritated in the blink of an eye. "Of course she did." Alice stood up and Patton swore he heard some expletives fall from her mouth but she shook her head. "Forget about her because I have a proposition for you, Patton!"
Patton stood up, clutching the bag in his hand. "Yeah?"
"My stepfather's nephew wasn't able to make it today due to another emergency. I need you to be the ring bearer!" Alice said with a smile.
Patton clasped his hands together. "Really?" He said surprised. "Um but I'm wearing a dress. Ring bearers don't wear dresses…"
Alice pulled at the bag in his hand. "Why don't you see what Chris packed for you?" She winked.
Patton raised an eyebrow curiously before sitting the bag down and opening it. Inside was a neatly folded dry cleaned tux with a blue flower tagged on its pocket. Patton gasped as he picked it up, his jaw dropped.
"Why don't you go change?" Alice pointed to a door in the corner.
Patton quickly ran into the bathroom and the dress was off immediately. The tux fit perfectly and the shoes were so good, shiny too. Patton really liked looking at his reflection except…
He pulled at his long blonde hair and sighed. The tux hid his chest and wide hips but what could he do about the hair?
Alice knocked on the door and peeked in, gasping happily. "Aww, Patton! You look so cute!!"
Patton smiled but it was half hearted. "But… my hair…" he trailed off trying to hold it up like it didn't exist.
Alice giggled before turning to the door. "Maisie?" She called. A girl came into the room, holding a pair of scissors, a brush, and a razor. "This is my little cousin, Patton. He's needing a makeover."
"Dude! Going through a change? Let's do it!" Maisie said, grabbing a chair leaning up against a wall. "Whatcha want?"
Patton took a deep breath ignoring the screaming voice in his head that sounded an awful lot like his mother. "I want short hair. I want to look like a boy."

Chapter 32: Chill Lofi Beats to Panic To
It’s that final few weeks before graduation and I’ve slowed down a bit. I’m on track to graduate and the only final I need to worry about is the one in my hero class. Plus with my Labyrinth test coming up, training is a must and is to be squeezed in as much as possible.
-Hero class, Gym-
“Okay class today will be a little different” Aizawa announced “today Miss Palma is going to take on all of you one by one to test her agility” he holds up a timer “it will be timed, the fighting rubric is the first one out of bounds or unable to fight marks time” he motioned to Palma to step into the ring “your position Miss.”
“Thank you sensei” I walk into the circle “Who’s the unlucky first?”
“Heh, It’s Bakugo” Aizawa checked the list “step in there.”
“Remember our first time in the ring?” Bakugo reminisced “and you whooped my ass clear across the floor?”
“How could I forget?!” I get into fighting position “no holding back now, I want an honest fight.”
“I will” he sneered as he got in his position “because I’m gonna win this time!”
Time started and in 30 seconds, I got him pinned to the ground.
“...And that’s time” Aizawa clicked on the timer “great work out there.”
“Dammit!” Bakugo growled as I lifted my foot off his back “defeated again! Guess that’s why they call you the undefeated.”
“But you’ve improved greatly” I said as I extended my hand “thank you for the fight.”
“Heh, shut it American-san!” he snickered as he grabbed my hand to hoist him up.
Everyone else’s fights ended under a minute, proving my power and agility.
“Last fight, Shinso” Aizawa announced “please enter the ring.”
“Oh Hitoshi, Hitoshi” I sighed “it’s been a while since we tussled.”
“Heh sure, a while” he laughed “guess last night was a while ago to you huh?”
“HEY! Watch it!” I blush and get in position “lest you want to get ya ass beat in more than one way.”
“Oh?! Is that a promise?” he gets in his position “I’d love to see you try.” Once the timer clicked, I dashed forward and try to get close enough for the copy. “Hey here’s a concept, What color is your underwear?”
“Check your bedroom floor” I said without missing a beat, knowing his plan to get me in his control.
“Too clever of an answer” he tries to dodge my attacks, barely evading “okay then riddle me this, Kiss me.” He grabbed my arm and pulled me in.
“That’s my line!” I shake myself loose “getting bold are we?!”
“I learned from the best” he smiled “isn’t that right?”
“Why of cours-” I froze in place, I fell for his trick!
The class gasped “I can’t believe it!” Momo broke the silence “she’s finally going to be defeated, after so long.”
“Come on Palma-san!” screamed Kirishima “you can snap out of it!”
“Yeah! Fight your way out like you aways do!” Mina stood up to chant “Palma-san! Palma-san!” Most of the class followed suite.
“END HER REIGN SHINSO KUN!” Mineta and Kaminari screamed “SHINSO KUN! SHINSO KUN!”
“Why don’t you come here and give me a kiss” Shinso commanded her “before I send you out of bounds.”
The chanting increased as I got closer to him, just before kissing his cheek, I broke out of the brainwash and slapped him. “HA! Didn’t think I’d do that huh?!”
“Dang it, so close too!” he rubbed his cheek “you play a very sneaky game kitty.”
“Look at this kitty!” I lifted my shirt and a bit of the front of my pants to fully flash my breasts and part of my crotch, away from everyone else’s eyes. He freezes in place, at the mercy of my command. “Why don’t you walk toward that line?” I pointed to a line and he walked right up to the edge “Oh this so much fun! Do that little cat dance Hitoshi!” he does the dance and I pull down his pants to show everyone is cat boxers “When I kiss your cheek, take one step forward and you’ll be out of my command.” I kiss his cheek and he obeyed the last command before realizing what just happened.
“AYAH! How could I give in like that!” he turned red as he fumbled to pull up his pants “I knew you’d embarrass like this too!”
“Hehehe aw I’m sorry I went a little over board with the commands” I put my hands together “forgive me? please Hitoshi?”
“I can’t stay mad at you!” he got soft and hugged her “you’re a little cutie, kissy wissy baby wayby cuddle bug! Yes you are!”
“Hitoshi!” I blushed “this is so cringe! Please sensei, what was my time for that?”
“2 minutes and 24 seconds” he checked the clip board “and that makes Palma-san the undefeated streak record holder!” he clapped and everyone did the same “for 3 straight years, no defeats nor forfeits in any of our sparring training.”
“Aww thanks yall” I said as Shinso let go “though you didn’t defeat me, I’ve seen you improve greatly with every spar, thank you for constantly improving yourselves despite the high chance of defeat.”
We did more training and the locker room talk was a buzz. “Hey Palma-san” spoke up Jiro “what was with that dialogue with Shinso?”
“What do you mean?” I said as I took off my shirt.
“It was awfully” Jiro was making a suggestive face “flirtatious, even for one of your iconic taunts.”
“I’ve just upped my taunting is all” I took off my shoes and tossed them into the locker “I had to or it would’ve been hard to evade his questions.”
“How did you know he does that little dance?” asked Uraraka.
“I can see his window from my window very clearly” I chortle “the things he’s not aware of at 3am!”
“Don’t hide it Palma-san” Momo said as she turned to face me “it’s clear that you and Shinso have a thing for each other.”
“Yea, I mean, you two have been awfully close since you woke up from your condition” Jiro stated “and I don’t know what kind of friends casually kiss and do baby talk like that.”
I felt all the girls’ eyes on me as I stopped buttoning my shirt and got visibly sweaty “It was just a kiss on the cheek no big whoop!”
“Oh yea? If it’s nothing, kiss one of the other boys on the cheek” Mina crossed her arms “kiss Bakugo on the cheek, you’re all buddy buddy with him! do it.”
“You know what, I will!” I huffed as I finished getting dressed “I’ll walk out there, get his attention and give the most platonic cheek kiss you’ve ever seen!” The girls hurried to see me do the thing. I spot him along with the other boys that were talking to each other about something “HEY BLASTY!”
“YEA?!” Bakugo yelled back.
“IMA GIVE YOU THE MOST PLATONIC BRO PECK OF YOUR LIFE!” I matched his energy as I stomped toward him.
“I’D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY!” he growled as he squared his shoulders.
As I bumped his shoulder and leaned in for the cheek kiss, I chickened out and growled “OH! I can’t fucking do it!” I stepped away from him “I’m a big ol’ softy and I can’t just kiss some dude I don’t have feelings for.”
“Urm, what-” Tokoyami tried to call me out of our escapades.
“Shut ya beak Toko!” I squinted loudly at him, then shifted my gaze toward Todoroki “Shoto! set me on fire! do it!” I got in a T pose.
“I can’t set you on fire, you have a date with Shinso later.” Todoroki bluntly said and the girls immediately squealed.
Shinso stepped forward, blushed and defeated “They interrogated me too” he sighed as he held my hand “it’s all true, we’ve been dating for nearly a year now and I wanted it to be a private matter but I guess I was also a bit heavy handed on the flirty taunts.”
“Yea, can’t believe everyone had to find out this way” I squeezed his hand “I guess the word was going to get out eventually.”
“I ship this so hard!” Hagakure squealed
“Please don’t-” Shinso and I started to say but was cut off by another squeal.
“Your ship name is the Control Duo!” she hopped and clapped “because you can control anyone with your brainwash and you can control anything and any quirk with your telekinesis and copy! The perfect combo!”
“That’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever said about our relationship ever” Shinso and I said in sync “do you see why we kept things secret?”
“They even synchronize! Why aren’t we like that?” Kirishima said to Bakugo.
“Ugh, want warp outta here?” I groaned
“Yes please! I just wanna eat in peace.” Shinso said as we did our little ‘chest bump to teleport’ thing to warp us to the classroom to get our packed food.
“Man I wish I had a girlfriend that’d transport me out of situations” Kaminari sighed “they’re so lucky to have fallen for each other, they oddly make a cute couple, don’t you think Iida-kun?” he turns to where Iida was standing but he wasn’t there. “What the? where did he go?”
Iida was at the 2nd floor of the school, looking out of the window to see the couple eating under the tree in the patio. “What does he have that I don’t” he sighed in defeat “she’s too good for him, my turn will come next!”
Time passes and it’s 2 weeks before graduation, preparations to move out were on their way for the couple.
-Hero Dorms, Sunday evening-
“Shinso, what’s with the boxes?” Iida said as he passed by Shinso’s room and stopped “move out day isn’t until 4 days before graduation.”
“I know but I’m getting my stuff ready because, well” he motioned for Iida to come in and close the door “Don’t tell anyone but I’m moving in with Ita in this nice house in a protected community.”
“What?” Iida whispered
“Yea it’s hard to believe but it’s a great place and it’s close to where I’m going to be placed to work” he stuffed his books in the propped up box “she offered me to co-habit with her in July and of course I said yes. We officially move in the day after New Years but I’m getting a head start on packing so I can have things ready to go.”
“So what about the days leading up to the move in?” Iida questioned
“We’ll be staying at my parent’s house until then” he placed the last book in the box “they’ll finally meet her! And then we’ll be living together” he sighed “I can’t wait to just wake up in our shared bed and have her next to me, every morning, forever.”
“Forever? Are you planning to marry her?!” Iida chopped as he asked.
“Marriage? Nah, I don’t like putting labels on us” he scoffed “we’re just forever partners, besides, we haven’t had that talk yet so who knows.”
“Right, well I’ll leave you to your packing” he turned to leave “I wish you the best on your move in.” Once he got to his room, his mood changed drastically. He wasn’t nice and patient Iida, he was jealous and bitter Iida. “How could she not ask me? I’m never going to get my chance if he moves in with her! I’d never disrespect her like that, I’d marry to proclaim my love for her!” he mumbled to himself “She deserves better, she should be with me!” This resentment grew and grew as the days went by until finally he couldn’t contain it anymore.
-Move out day, Sunset-
“Oh wait Hitoshi” Palma stopped walking before remembering what she’s been meaning to do “I need to invite Tenya.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for you in the commons area” Shinso said as he saw her stamper off to Iida’s room.
She knocks on the door “Who is it?”
“It’s me, Ita”
“Come in!”
She opens the door to see a nearly cleared out room “Oh dang, you’re almost done” she closes the door behind her “wanna take a break and come with me to the carnival at the school?”
“The carnival? Oh the intel one!” he exclaimed “I’d love too, let me just put on my shoes.”
“Cool! I got my little squad of you, Mimi, Jin, Hitoshi ready to go and-”
“Wait, it’s not just us?” Iida stopped reaching for his shoes.
“Well, no, I wanted to go as a group so I can have one last high school memory with yall before I leave to take my exam in 2 days”
“Then I won’t go if Shinso is going too”
“Why? What’s wrong?” she got suspicious “you’ve been distant lately, did something happen?”
“It’s just that” he tightened his fists “you’ve been hiding things from me like you don’t trust me! How can you call me your friend, chosen family, if you don’t tell me everything?!”
“What are you talking about?!”
“About you and Shinso moving in together!” he raised his voice “do you not trust me with that?”
“How am I supposed to tell you anything if you’re always busy?!” she clapped back “you’re my friend and I won’t disrupt your time to get things done to tell you something because I want us to converse about it when I tell you.”
“Well, then maybe we shouldn’t be friends!” he exploded whatever he had pent up.
“Tenya what are you-”
“Put some respect on my name! Last name to address me Palma-san!” he loomed over her with anger in his eyes, clearly not himself.
“Let’s talk this out, please tell me what’s wrong” she pleaded “this isn’t like you and I’m scared, talk to me.”
“There’s nothing to be said here!” he turned to finish packing “leave or I’ll throw you out.”
“I’m not leaving until you tell me what’s wrong!”
“You’ve always been the disobedient one” he picked her up, opened his door and tossed her out like rag doll before slamming his door closed. The noise got the attention on everyone in the hall and commons room.
“Palma-san!” Tokoyami rushed over to her side “are you alright? what happened?”
“I don’t know” she was in shock “Tenya just threw me out of his room when I tried to talk things out.”
“That doesn’t sound like him” Shoji said as he picked her up “I’ve never heard him yell like that to you, what did you say?”
“I just asked him to come with me to the carnival and it escalated from there.”
“Babe” Shinso said in a monotone voice
“Yeah?” she responded and froze in place.
“Stand up and come here” he commanded as she walked into his arms “I’m going to take care of things here, don’t worry about us.” He commanded her until they were at the carnival. Palma couldn’t enjoy herself because the argument was still fresh in her mind. “Hey, don’t sweat it babe” Shinso comforted her as they rode the ferris wheel “give it time and I’m sure he’ll own up to what happened.”
“I hope so” she loosened up and sighed “because I don’t get why he got so hostile” she put her head on his shoulder “thanks for keeping me together.”
“No problem love” he rested his head on hers “soon we’ll have better days, together.”
-Labyrinth test day, End of the school day, Hero Wing-
“Oh this just in class” Aizawa paused his lecture to see the text on his phone “Miss Palma passed her exam, unscathed.” The class exploded in cheer and sighs of relief. “She’ll be back tomorrow before the end of the school day to take her exam, please contain your congratulations until she finishes her exam tomorrow” Aizawa puts his phone back on the table “now back to what I was saying...”
Shinso peers behind him to see Iida staring at the empty desk between them, that was really bothering him, especially since Iida hasn’t apologized. After class, Shinso confronted him in the hallway.
“Iida-kun, may I have word with you?” Shinso got his attention by blocking his way.
“What can I do for you?” Iida fixed his glasses, glaring back at Shinso.
“You can start by apologizing to Ita” Shinso crossed his arms “you have some nerve to treat your friend like that.”
“How can you talk to me about her when you knew I loved her first” Iida clenched his jaw “she was mine and you took her away from me! I don’t even see why she’d choose you over me!”
“You hurt her because of her choice?” Shinso raised his voice “she told me you made it clear that you’re friends and nothing more.”
“She’s the literal love of my life” tears formed in Iida’s eyes “I had plans with her, I was going to tell her how I feel but it’s hopeless now” he takes slow steps forward “I’m a better man than you! She deserves better!” He shoves Shinso.
“Why hurt her then?!” Shinso regains his balance “I won’t fight you Iida-kun, but she has made her choice and as her friend, you should respect that!”
“Easy for you to say” Iida huffed “you’re the one that’s going to wake up to her everyday!” he throws a heavy punch to Shinso’s shoulder, escalating everything into a full blown fight. They didn’t get away with this, though, Nezu and Aizawa had them separated until graduation since it was their first offense and very close to graduation. Everyone knew about the fight by the dinner time, including Ita. When she came back and did her exam, she was terrified of Iida and even more confused on why he’s like this now.
-Graduation day, in the intel dorms-
“Look at us!” Mimi exclaimed as she watched me smooth over my now short, curly hair “in our country’s traditional wear, we did it!”
“I’m just excited to final be not be responsible for those twinks!” I joked “can’t wait to just live my wildest, domestic life with Hitoshi.”
“To think we’re going to be living in the same community” Jin said over his garment fastening “what adventures are going to await us after this!”
We finish getting ready and portal into the auditorium to get to our seats. After a lot of speeches, awards came next.
“May all of our graduating international students come up to the stage?” Nezu announced and waited for everyone to get on stage “these students came from far and wide, away from family and are graduating at the top hero school in Japan” the crowd applauded “but one of them has stood out the most, they’ve excelled in everything they’ve been given and went beyond plus ultra to help their fellow student. Not only that, but is a top 3 in their program!” Nezu motioned for Midnight to bring out the plaque “It’s none other than Itati Palma from the United States of America, Bear tamer, Commanding Officer and Talented young lady.” The crowd roared with cheers and clapping as she received her award.
“Oh geez, wow thank you UA and thank you to my fellow international student for their hard work, we did it!” I look at my plaque and smile “I have something to confess, I’m here not by choice, but by duty. I was nearly killed in my home community because I didn’t want to see my friends or teachers hurt by organized crime. And with no hero culture to save us, I put my life on the line when I should’ve fled. I’m not a hero and I’m not an agent, I am bravery that ignited the duty in the hearts of many to continue the fight back home. I work hard for them so when I do return home, we could finally put a stop to the terror that oppresses us.” I scan the room “I want all of you, future heroes, agents and business moguls alike, to make the promise that you’ll continue your fight to spark the will and bravery to make our community a safer place to live, thank you!”
More talking and naming us one by one for our diplomas later and we were finished. I saw a whole lot of that button tradition happening and cringed at the fact that I got some before. I spotted Iida walking toward the parking lot and ran after him.
“Ten- Iida! Hey!”
“Hm? Oh Palma-san” he said flatly, like he wasn’t excited to see me “you cut your hair.”
“Yeah, it’s what I do after completing something” I peer over his shoulder to see his parents and brother talking to other parents “oh sorry if I was interrupting your family time but I just wanted to say that I hope you have nice holiday and to not be a stranger and text or call me every once in a while.”
“That won’t be necessary” he turned to leave “we aren’t friends anymore, I thought I made that clear.”
“Oh I see” my smile disappeared and my heart ached from his words “maybe fate will-”
“Good bye Palma-san” he said without looking at me and walked toward his family to leave.
“Bye” I weakly waved him off but it was in vain as he just fully ignored me.
“What a jerk!” Jin exclaimed behind me “like what is his problem?! Can’t even say good bye to you like a decent human? I swear I had a bad feeling about him.”
“You okay babygirl?” Mimi put her hand on my shoulder, I didn’t respond “let’s forget him and go for a nice smoke sesh.” She carried me to Shinso and we all smoked before having to part ways until we moved in.
The days rolled by slowly, even though I was very comfortable with Shinso and being under the same house with his family, I still was hurt by all things Iida said. I know it was wasn’t like him to say all that and pick fights, it felt like it was all my fault and I didn’t know what I did wrong. Shinso was there to make me forget about all my worries and refocus on the now.
-Move in day-
“...and here’s the keys to the place” my caseworker hands over a ring of labeled keys “oh before I forget! An update from home.”
“Oh cool, um Hitoshi, will you-” I started to say but Shinso knew what to do.
“I’ll be upstairs, setting up the office space” he rubbed my back “come up when you’re done.”
“What a considerate one you got yourself” the caseworker waited for him to be out of earshot “but anyways, it looks like nothing has changed but they’ve stopped spreading their territory. Its massive but still away from your family, but just in case, we’ve put your family under a no travel lock.”
“Oh that’s not good” I worried “how come?”
“With all the activity, we can’t have your family traveling outside the upstate county in case of targeting” she pulled up photos “they’ve targeted that boy you were with, we’ve lost track of him but we’re not sure if he died or escaped. Last sighting was him running in the middle of the night with just a backpack, trying to train car jump. We suspect he caught a train heading to Los Banos.”
“To El Rancho county?! How long ago was this?” I was perplexed by that part as he doesn’t like rancho anything.
“3 weeks ago, but his family didn’t put a missing persons report on him” she sighed “I think they encouraged him to run away from the violence.”
“I believe that” I said as I looked at a security camera quality picture of him jumping onto a box car “I hope he’s alright then.”
“We do too, and that completes our update” she gathers the pictures “I’ll get out of your hair to continue moving in and such.”
“Thank you so much, I hope I hear soon from you” I handed back the picture. They left and I headed up to where Shinso was “Hey, need help with the desk?”
“Nah I got it” he said as he looked up from the printed instructions “everything okay?”
“Yeah, everyone’s fine. It’s just that my family can’t come see me for a while” I sighed deeply and crossed my arms “and one of my friends ran away from home to escape the violence, I just hope they’re alright.”
“Aw babe, come here” he stands up and brings her in for an embrace “life hasn’t been fair for you in a while but I’m here, don’t worry about the big stuff. You’re here, safe and very much loved.”
I buried my face in the crook of his neck “You’re right, I can’t keep worrying myself like this, I love you.”
The weeks turned into months, things back home didn’t get better nor worse and I felt myself have something missing from my life. But I really couldn’t figure it out.
-Downtown Sumida, after work-
“My legs are killing me!” Jin groaned “honestly, who’s idea was it to enable the quirk suppress field when my job relies on my quirk?!” we all sit at the local tea shop for some boba “but I’m happy we can finally hang out after weeks of just work.”
“Yeah SPEAKING OF WHICH! Did you tell Hitoshi about your admittance?” Mimi perked up “I nearly forgot you applied for the local university!”
“I did and he wasn’t very supportive” I recalled everything he said “we got in a fight over it because he doesn’t like the idea of me being so busy with academics that I’d hardly have time for us. He’s cooled off since then but he’s upset that it’ll change our already busy schedule.”
“Oh I’m sorry he’s being like that” Mimi said as our order came “are things okay with you two?”
“Not to air out our troubles but things aren’t that great” I stab the straw into my drink “he doesn’t want to do the things I suggest nor compromise, we had a future plans talk and he doesn’t want to marry nor own a house but kids are a maybe. Plus on top of all that, he’s been very sexually needy, it was fun for like 4 days but I can’t have him eating me out every-time I lay on the couch or rip my pants off to do me on the kitchen counter when I come home from work!”
Mimi and Jin looked at each other “So what are you going to do?”
“I’m gonna go to college and deny him of unwanted sex” I took a sip “and if he really cares, he’d respect my wishes! Because I want to do things worth-while and our idea won’t launch itself!”
“I love that, you’re making your own happiness” Jin takes a sip “also I can’t believe you’re going to make our silly little high school project into reality.”
“It’s not silly! That little robo dog is still functional after all this time!” I exclaimed “the only thing silly about it is that 3 teenagers made it out of thrift shop electronics and scraps for an A minus!”
“I’m still salty at sensei for that” Jin crossed his arms.
“Point is, we have the potential to make it into a small security companion company. With the increase of working heroes with families, this could be the mediator for their security” I put my hand over theirs “and I’m so happy to have at least you two in support on this venture. Even if there’s a chance we’d flop.”
“I hope we expand big enough to have one of those cool low rise buildings as our headquarters AND have a staff!” Mimi started to get excited “So that way things run smoothly, even if we’re not always there.”
“Woah one step at a time Mimi!” I giggled “for now, lets focus on step number one, credentials to start such a thing.”
“To us, and the future of our success!” Jin raised his drink.
“TO US!” we dinked drinks and laughed.
I got home later with slight dread that Shinso was going to say something about being out a little past than promised. “I’m home.”
“Babe!” Shinso walked up excitedly to me as I closed the door “okay so I know I’ve been sorta a jerk to you about your future plans and we haven’t really pushed past it” he held my hands as he explained himself “I’m just a little afraid that you’ll get lost in your studies that you’ll be rushing yourself to get to other things, so I got something to ground you back on whats important.” He leads me to the living room and points to an open box on the coffee table “take a look.”
I peered in and saw an orange tabby with a leather collar looking back at me and meowed. “You got a cat?!” I nearly lost my shit in excitement.
“Yup, I adopted him from the shelter near my work” he walked up to me “he’s a little over a year old, has all his shots, no quirk and no name until I picked him up” he picked up the cat and flipped the metal tag for me to read “look.”
“HIS NAME IS BISCUIT!” I gushed and almost cried “Hitoshi! We’re pet parents, I’m literally crying!” I cry with a smile and pet the cat’s head.
“I thought you might like him” he chuckled as he kissed my cheek “he’s the new edition to our family...along with Muffins.” he said as he caught a glimpse of the little robo dog manually adjust the thermostat.
In that moment, a sort of forgot all the rough patches and re-aligned myself to be the best so I can give a good future to my expanding family.....nothing will go wrong, right?

Ingram, Jinbe, Franky @ask-oven
Igaram - Are you an early bird or night owl?
Mun: “I’m a ‘sleeps whenever there’s a perch’ kinda bird.”
Mitsu: “What she means to say is that she can’t take care of herself well enough to maintain a proper sleep schedule.” So many eye rolls from the marine.
Mun: Grumbles and glaring. “At least I actually sleep more than once every four days.”
Mitsu: “OI WHAT WAS THAT YOU SHIT-HEAD?!?!?” And thus the mun started running.
Jinbe - What country do you live in?
Mun: “Well right now I live-” Muffled sounds as Mitsu slaps a hand over mun’s mouth.
Mitsu: “Shut it mun! Haven’t you ever heard of privacy!” Muttering “Idiot americans I swear…”
Mun: Sweatdrops and says nothing.
Franky - What are some of the SUPER awesome blogs that you like?
Mitsu: “Oh god please don’t unleash the fangirl…”
Mun: “TOO LATE!” Squealing of joy intensifies. “All these blogs are absolutely wonderful people, whose content I truly enjoy seeing on my dash any time I log on! I can honestly say most of these people inspire me to continue writing Mitsu and also to improve on my art as time goes on. Despite the continual struggles I’m dealing with in my real life, I hope that they will continue to be a source of enjoyment in my life, thank you so much for being on this site and I adore each and every one of you!”
Here’s a small list of my favorite blogs! Drumroll please, introducing….
@sfregiato-tramonto - Dude, dude, DUDE! This guy is honestly one of the most interesting characters, especially once you really get to reading some of his posts, it’s just, agh! to die for!
@ask-monkey-and-dog - *FANGIRLING INTENSIFIES!* Okay but honestly the art here is amazing and this blog is singlehandedly responsible for making me adore the Borsa/Saka ship!
@ask-sir-crocodile- Is there anyone who doesn’t know Sir Crocodile? If there is, you oughta fix that right fucking now!
@ask-sanji- Out of all the Sanji blogs out there this one is quite possibly my number one favorite. And no it’s not JUST because they gave me the best green puppy ever!
@ask-super-luffy - Ask super cutie more like! All the art here is adorable and so heartwarming, and any time I see a post by them it makes me squeal in joy.
@ask-lieutenant-wendy- Wendy is bae, that is all. If Wendy was real, I would marry her. End of story.
@askthebluebeast - Oh you mean you want more aside from great art an awesome character and epic powers???? Well come right on in because you’ll adore this dude and all his daddy issues.
@marineduo - I adore Coby and Helmeppo so having a blog around that roleplays and answers asks as BOTH is simply spectacular! All the writing is top notch too I gotta say.
@smoke-em-ifya-got-em- Smoker, but as a bratty as teen, and it is absolutely as wonderful as you would imagine such a premise could be!
@ask-the-vinsmokes- I hate you for making me actually like those damned Vinsmoke brothers. And all the expressive and adorable art is certainly not helping things.
@ask-ropeman-paulie - I laugh so often because of this blog, and the art is immediately recognizable to me as well! Each time I see a post from here I get genuinely thrilled to bits for all sorts of reasons!
@ask-rear-admiral-roswell - Yes I know Sir Crocodile also runs this blog, no it is not a coincidence that I also adore it, and yes Roswell is awesome. It’s honestly great having another marine character around that doesn’t rely on a devil fruit, and this goofball seems to fit right in with the whole community.
@askrosetto - It’s hard to be a part of this community and not eventually come across Rosetto, she’s absolutely unique and fascinating, and the art is to die for and I honestly look to her for inspiration both in character creation and artistically. Things may have slowed down a bit recently, but I guarantee you that this blog is still absolutely incredible and inspiring in so many ways!
@asktheoilmarine- Luther stands apart from the crowd, and it aint just for the bright pink hair yo! I swear this character already has sent me on an emotional rollercoaster and I absolutely ADORE him!
@ask-the-hopeful-ones- Honest to god one of the first people I properly interacted with on this blog, and they are fantastic! Each character truly does feel like a real part of the crew, and seems just fresh and fun in every way!
@ask-the-innocentbystander - Lili fucking ambushed Mitsu in the middle of an emotional moment by stowing away in a random barrel and then providing blankets and hot coco. And that’s somehow the most normal part of befriending Lili. To say she’s one of a kind would not be doing her, or her art, justice.
@ask-the-marine-sheep - Not going to lie this blog is one of the first ten that I followed when I started and has been a huge inspiration to me, Nana is absolutely the cutest thing ever! SHEEP POWEEERRR!!!
@strawhatjinbe- Jinbe is JINBAE! I’ve not seen another Jinbe blog that does the character this much justice while also having spectacular artwork for him!
@ask-mitsu-the-mermaid- I found you on accident because I forgot my blogs name in the early days. I aint lying, that’s why I found this blog. Best. Mistake. EVER! Mitsu is the sweetest little mermaid, 10/10, Ariel wishes she was this good.
@ask-the-fringeheads- Duuuuuuuddddeeeee!!! Some creative ass crew right here! I don’t think i’ve gotten quite as close to anyone as I’ve gotten to this blog, and one of my favorite ships ever has blossomed because of it. Not to mention I am literally learning from this chick right here how to do art, so CHECK EM OUT!
And last, but absolutely NOT least:
@ask-offduty-borsalino- This fucker got me into this community. Without him, I never would’ve made Mitsu, never would’ve found all these other blogs, and never would’ve had the time of my life on here. So like, check out the man, the meme, the legend: Borsalino, off duty form. (Just don’t eat his pie.)

Clint/rescuer prompt: Clint growled lightly “Not that I don't mind giving a good show once in a while, but doesn't this violate I don't know, some kind of doctors' ethics or something? Or don't I rate pants?” His rescuer/jailer laughed over the small fire in the corner of the cavern that they hid in. “You've only been fully awake for less than thirty minutes and what has you worried is not having pants?” “Hey I know where my priorities are."
run the world (girls), clint/darcy
Now on AO3. (if you can, please leave a review. It means a lot to me.)
AKA the one where the Avengers are all women, and I don’t mean gender-swap (inspired by this post)
Okay, I’m sorry this took so long. The muse started out on fire but left me high and dry by the end. Also I had to tweak the dialogue a little to make it fit. :)
Darcy fiddled with her bracelet for at least the sixth time, only to be rebuked by a stern voice in her ear.
“Darcy, you need to relax.”
She huffed and rolled her eyes in response. “I’m trying, Maria. This isn’t really my element, you know. I’m much more comfortable stealing things out from under someone in the board room. Except, you know, not literally.”
Another voice chimed in to reassure her. “Which you do very well, Darcy.”
Darcy rolled her eyes fondly. “Thanks, Pepper. Is everyone listening to me suck at this undercover thing right now?”
There was a long pause. With a sigh, Darcy eyed a nearby waiter who was passing out champagne glasses. She flagged him down and huffed, “I guess that’s a yes.”
“You’ll be fine, milaya,” the Black Widow purred in her ear. “Do you remember what your target will be wearing?”
Darcy accepted the glass from the waiter with a charming smile. She took a tiny sip of the champagne. Hiding her mouth behind the slim glass, she responded, “Yeah, he’ll be the guy in a purple suit. Seems a little ridiculous to me, but at least he should stand out.”
One of the Avengers—probably Peggy—started to admonish her for not taking the op seriously when a voice behind Darcy exclaimed, “Excuse me! Are you Darcy Lewis?”
The chatter from the comm abruptly ceased. Darcy turned slowly, hoping beyond hope that it wasn’t the guy in the purple suit. That greeting couldn’t even pretend to be in the same realm as subtle, much less stealthy. She caught sight of him, and—yeah, hopefully the nation’s security was not in the hands of this lost little puppy. He was cute, in a little kid sort of way. And luckily for her, not wearing a purple suit.
Which meant she had no time to talk to him about his superhero crushes. She asked coolly, “Can I help you?”
The young man—surely he wasn’t even eighteen—practically vibrated with excitement. “You’re Darcy Lewis, right?” Without waiting for her to respond, he gushed, “You work with the Avengers! Black Widow and Captain America, and—”
Darcy cut him off sharply, lowering her voice and enunciating clearly. “Look, kid. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m Vice President of Potts Industries, not a superhero.”
He nodded conspiratorially and winked. “Right. By day, you’re VP of Potts Industries, right-hand woman—” he snorted at his own joke, “—to Pepper Potts, who’s only the leader of the greatest superhero team on Earth.”
Darcy’s comm crackled to life. “I like him,” Pepper cooed, laughing under her breath.
Simultaneously, Peggy grumbled, “We’re co-leaders, thank you very much.”
Unaware of their reactions, the boy continued, “But everyone knows that your other job—”
A firm hand clapped the young man on the shoulder, gripping hard. “I think you’re making the lady uncomfortable, hotshot.”
It was the man in the purple suit. “You never said he would be attractive,” Darcy muttered under her breath to the rest of the team. And he was, in a rugged sort of way. He didn’t look like a rookie agent at all, as a matter of fact.
There was smothered laughter on the other side of the comm, but the guy in purple distracted Darcy by throwing her a salacious wink.
She tamped down on the attraction that fluttered in her belly and turned to the young man. “Look—”
“Peter.”
“Look, Peter. It was very nice to meet you, really. But I’m a little busy right now, so if you’ll excuse me.” She looked at him pointedly, hoping he’d get it.
He didn’t. “But this is a gala. How are you busy—oh. Oh.” He bobbed his head excitedly. “You’re busy. On definitely-not Avengers business. Right, right. Okay.” Peter danced away a couple of steps—the man in the purple suit looking onthe whole time—and then turned back and hissed altogether too loudly, “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me.”
He even waved and gave an exaggerated wink as he hurried away. Darcy rolled her eyes in exasperation.
“That’s not the tactic I would’ve taken to get rid of him, but to each their own,” the man in purple murmured, standing so close that his breath ghosted over the shell of her ear. Darcy flinched in surprise, but managed to refrain from a stronger reaction. Ignoring it, the man stepped even closer and grazed the outside of her arm with a calloused fingertip.
Throatily, he added, “Maybe you and I cold go somewhere more private and get to know each other a little better?”
At that, Darcy spun on her heel, ready to rip him a new one. At her expression, his eyes went wide and he took a tiny step back. He stuttered quickly, “Aww, shit. No, not like that. I just meant—if, you know, we’re supposed to trade—”
Darcy giggled at the transition from suave federal agent to bumbling puppy. Turning the tables, she invaded his space and purred, “Sounds like a great idea. Let’s find ourselves an empty room, shall we?” She stood close enough to watch his throat move as he gulped, and took the time to appreciate the spicy scent of his aftershave.
There was no reaction to Darcy’s flirting from the team, and she frowned in confusion. She knew better than to believe they would have nothing to say about her flirting, and was perturbed by the glaring silence.
And just like that, everything went to shit. One of the Avengers called, “incoming!” over the comm, and then an explosion rocked the mansion, rattling the opulent chandeliers. There was shouting from the upstairs balconies, and masked men started pouring down the stairs. Darcy’s companion took her hand and they fled with the rest of the crowd to escape the ballroom.
They raced down the hallways, almost making it to the main entrance before Darcy heard the telltale thump of combat boots approaching around the corner.
Thinking fast, she tugged the agent into the coat room. Sliding behind a rack of winter coats, they huddled together in silence and waited for the sound of footsteps to pass.
Once it was clear they were gone, Darcy turned and whispered, “Okay, dude. Tell me you have the flash drive.”
He raised an eyebrow at her but reached a hand into the inside of his suit jacket. “Dude?” he questioned, amused.
“Well I’m not going to keep calling you the man in purple, am I?”
“Agent Clint Barton, at your service—”
Whatever he was going to say next was drowned out by a voice in Darcy’s ear. “Darcy, I need you to get out of that building right now,” Pepper hissed frantically. “We have to go radio silent for a while, but keep your comm on and we will come get you when it’s safe.”
“Affirmative.” Darcy paused, then added, “Please stay safe. All of you.” At the agent’s—Clint’s—questioning look, Darcy prompted, “How’s your thousand-yard dash?”
He smirked at her and answered, “Not bad. You ready?” Darcy sighed and kicked off her high heels. She nodded.
Clint dashed out the door. Darcy followed, snagging her coat—a waterproof, insulated, expensive gift from Pepper—and winter scarf from a nearby rack on her way. The remaining distance was clear, and she and Clint made it out of the mansion with little fuss. He paused at the bottom of the front steps—suit already soaked through from the freezing rain—and waited for her to catch up.
Darcy got close enough to reach out and grab Clint’s hand, and—
All of a sudden she was on her back, staring up at Clint’s face as he covered her body protectively. An explosion billowed from somewhere behind them, deafening her in one ear. Then they were moving again. Clint gripped her wrist tightly and called frantic encouragements every so often.
She and Clint raced into the forest surrounding the mansion, but didn’t stop running. Darcy’s hair plastered to her face, icy and wet. Her fingers started to lose sensation, until she could barely feel Clint’s grip on her wrist.
Darcy looked at her companion in alarm; if she was numb even while bundled up in a warm coat, Clint must have been in really bad shape. Sure enough, his movements were sluggish. Even his attempts to blink away the icy rain from his vision were slow, as if he was moving through molasses.
Something had to give, and soon. Luckily, Darcy spotted an outcropping of rocks that appeared to form a bit of shelter. She steered them that way desperately.
Clint all but collapsed once they got there, shivering from the cold. Terrified, Darcy dashed back out to find supplies. When she came back, she immediately built a small fire—the light from the flames showed that his lips were almost blue.
“Strip,” she commanded, standing to take off her coat at the same time. Clint just stood there, looking at her in confusion. Worried at his lack of response, she moved over to him and assisted him in taking off his clothing—his fingers were too numb and shaky to do it himself, and his movements were jerky and mechanical. It was like he wasn’t aware of what was going on.
Once he was naked, Darcy stripped off her cocktail dress and bundled herself and Clint underneath the full-length coat next to the fire. Eventually, their shared body heat warmed them both enough that they stopped shivering. After ten minutes or so, Clint’s breathing evened out into sleep.
They lied there for approximately an hour before their tiny fire started to flicker. Darcy gingerly removed herself from the warmth of their cocoon and went to coax it into a full flame.
The absence of Darcy’s body heat caused Clint to stir and wake up. Sitting up, the coat pooling at his waist, he growled lightly. “Not that I don’t mind giving a good show once in a while, but doesn’t this violate—I don’t know—some kind of doctors’ ethics or something? Or don’t I rate pants?”
Darcy laughed, moving back from where she’d been stoking the small fire in the corner of the cavern that they hid in. “Two things: one, you know I’m not a doctor—it’s a good thing you weren’t shot during our escape or we both would have been goners. And two, you’ve only been fully awake for less than two minutes and what has you worried is not having pants?”
With a roguish smile, Clint joked, “Hey, I know where my priorities are.” The effect was somewhat marred by the full-body shiver that overtook him.
Darcy frowned, hurrying back over to him. “Alright, flyboy. Get back under that coat before you die from hypothermia.” Clint huffed indignantly, but shifted over enough that she could slide under the jacket with him. To his credit, Clint’s eyes stayed above her chest for almost the entire time it took her to shuffle under the coat. Almost.
Sliding an arm around her and pulling her firmly into his body, Clint teased, “Did you just use a Star Wars insult on me?”
Darcy stroked a fingernail across his abs, appreciating the definition she found there. Clint shuddered at her touch. She smirked. “You got a problem with that, laser brain?”
He grinned in reply. “Not at all, darlin’. I’m starting to think we’re made for each other.”
She lifted her chin at that, and caught him staring at her mouth. They were close enough that she could reach out and lick the faint stubble on his jaw, if she wanted.
Darcy met his eyes and saw that Clint had come to the same realization. He licked his lips, drawing her gaze back to his mouth. She shifted her hand up slightly to his chest and gave herself the leverage she needed to reach his mouth.
Clint met her halfway. The kiss was soft at first—mouths still chilly and slightly numb from the rain—and they took their time exploring each other. Darcy swept her tongue along the seam of his lips, and he opened his mouth to allow her in.
He groaned against her mouth, pulling her impossibly closer into his body.
Darcy’s comm crackled to life for the first time since their hasty escape. “You do realize that we can hear all of this, yes?” Wanda asked, chuckling.
With reluctance, Darcy drew away. Clint threw her a questioning look, and she laughed, “We have an audience. We’ll continue this later, flyboy.”
He nipped at her lip one last time and admitted huskily, “I’m looking forward to it.”
