you post so many pieces like this, but your newest is the latest in the line of your vaschete art that rewrites my brain in the best possible way. I struggle a lot with shame and self loathing and neuroticism in general, and seeing in every expressive bit of gesture how much Vasco just... *sits* with Machete and loves him *while* he's upset. Loves the upset version of him and will be there loving him until he's ready to be calm and open again! this sounds hyperbolic but it literally makes it easier for me to love myself and be patient with myself when my nastier inner voices are really active. so thank you for your gay catholic dogs they are sincerely improving my life.

MY GIRLS ARE FINALLY ON AIR
Disclaimer: not a native Thai speaker, still learning 🙏
Ongsa and Sun
At first, Ongsa wrongly assumes that Sun is older so she calls her พี่ /phi/, speaks respectfully and wais her:
Tumblr media
ขอโทษค่ะพี่ /khaaw thoht kha, phi/
Then they settle into these pronouns:
☀ Sun: เรา /rao/ -> Ongsa (calls her เธอ /ter/ once when she asks her name)
🌐 Ongsa: เรา /rao/ -> Sun
-> เรา /rao/ is an informal 1st pers. pronoun that pretty much all the students in Ongsa's class seem to use
Later, when they're texting, it takes Ongsa entirely too long to catch onto the fact that Sun thinks Earth is a guy because-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
คุยกันมาตั้งนาน เรายังไม่รู้เลยว่านายชื่ออะไร /khui gan maa dtang naan. rao yang mai ruu loei waa naai cheuu a rai/ -> นาย /naai/ is a male 2nd pers. pronoun
While we're talking about their texts, the subs have this weirdly mixed up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1 - ฝันดีนะ /fan dee na/ = lit. dream well/good dreams, 'Sweet dreams' 2 - ราตรีสวัสดิ์ /raa dtree sa wat/ = formal, 'Good night' 3 - Similarly, Sun's มอนิ่งนะ /morning na/ is a more informal 'Good morning' compared to formal อรุณสวัสดิ์ /a roon sa wat/ or polite สวัสดีตอนเช้า /sa wat dee dtaawn chaao/
When Ongsa isn't gay-panic hiccupping, she's actually really clever and witty! I'll get to her ig posts in a second but there's also this moment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ยังสวยอยู่เลย /yang suay yuu loei/ สวยจะ หมายถึง ซวยอ่ะ /suay ja- maai theung- suay a/
The difference in pronunciation between these two words is just the tone - สวย /suay/ (rising tone) means pretty vs. ซวย /suay/ (middle tone) means unlucky
from.the.earth__
Tumblr media
ถ่ายรูป ด่วน สี-ขาวดำ /thaai ruup duaan see khaao dam/ = urgent/express black-and-white photography caption: ยกกล้องมาถ่ายแทบไม่ทัน /yohk glaawng maa thaai thaaep mai than/ = almost didn't raise the camera in time to snap this
Tumblr media
caption: เงา-เหงา /ngao-ngao/ = shadow-lonely -> เงา ๆ /ngao ngao/ is an expression that means indistinctly, faintly
The difference in pronunciation is, again, in the tones - เงา /ngao/ (middle tone) means shadow vs. เหงา /ngao/ (rising tone) means lonely
Tumblr media
caption: ว้าว! ปลาทับใจจัง /wow! bplaa thap jai jang/
I love this SO much omg It's a pun on ประทับใจ /bpra thap jai/ = impressed, but also a visual pun!!
ปลา /bplaa/ = fish + ทับ /thap/ = placed on top of + ใจ /jai/ = heart
Tumblr media
caption: สู้ ๆ นะ เป็นกำลังใจให้ /su su na. bpen gam lang jai hai/ = Fighting! Rooting for/encouraging [you]!
Another visual pun! This one's only funny if you know what peaches are called in Thai: peach = ลูกท้อ /luuk thaaw/ - but the word ท้อ /thaaw/ in there? It means discouraged!
Alpha, Aylin, and Luna
🔝 Alpha is Ongsa's older sister: พี่ /phi/ (used as a 1st pers. pronoun) -> แก /gae/ (informal 2nd pers. pronoun)
👽 Aylin is their cousin, in the same grade as Ongsa, and speaks pretty curtly, almost like someone would on two-way radio: she doesn't use any pronouns apart from this once-
Tumblr media
แกกำลังบุกรุกที่ของฉัน /gae gam lang book rook thee khaawng chan/
Omitting pronouns is possible and not uncommon in Thai but doing so constantly, combined with her monotone speech pattern, low voice, and mostly a lack of ending particles, it does stick out! It doesn't really come across in the subs tbh (apart from including the way she refers to people as humans = มนุษย์ /ma noot/):
Tumblr media
ไม่ต้องแคร์ใคร /mai dtaawng care khrai/ = Don't need to care about anyone.
🌙 Luna, Alpha, the two bullies, and Mawin all seem to be in the same grade because all of them use the impolite pronouns กู/มึง /guu, meung/ (=I/you) amongst each other - how very fun to finally hear some GMMTV girls talk like this :D
I love Alpha and Luna teaming up to beat up scold these two dipshits:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alpha: พวกมึงสองคนแกล้งน้องกูออ /phuuak meung saawng khohn glaaeng nong guu aaw/ Mawin, trying to defuse: พวกเธอใจเย็นก่อน /phuuak ter jai yen gaawn/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While the girls are furious, the guys are clearly fearing for their lives, wai'ing endlessly 😂
Lastly-
Sarah Salola
Tumblr media
I gasped when I saw her name in the credits!! She's this handsome singer-songwriter with a lovely voice who's queer herself - she's talked about her sexuality and style before (interview is in Thai) but this Valentine's she revealed her partner :)
Here's a cover of Nont Tanont's รักแรก (First Love) she did with Jan 💕
youtube
Needless to say, I can't wait for her OST and the accompanying MV that's surely gonna be super cute!

Ackerman watched as Penelope opened the pantry and kept herself busy. Gathering three red apples, a wooden bowl, a knife. She washed the apples in the clear water bucket before she gestured for him to take a seat before she sat down across from him and got to work with apple peeling.
Ackerman sank slowly down onto the seat across from her and watched silently for a moment. When she spoke it made him jump in shock. Her voice was thick from sobbing, her eyes locked on the slowly rotating apple as the peel pulled away from it.
"So now what happens."
"Well," Ackerman started and then folded his hands nearly and sat them on the table top. "I suppose that's for you to decide." He watched as her apple stopped moving in her hands for a moment...then another....before it started again. "Going unpaired is not terribly uncommon. But I understand it wasn't the future you had in mind for yourself..." His eyebrows were shaved like his head, but he felt the skin move to furrow his brow. "Honestly, what was he thinking. Pulling that stunt like that. It's very unbecoming and improper."
"So I'm not going to be sent away?"
"Sent away?" Ackerman choked, "Heavens no! Being unpaired isn't grounds for exile, Penelope!"
"Not for being unpaired," she corrected, "for fear I might..." She trailed off and Ackerman grimaced, he could see where her mind was taking her.
"But you're not...right?" He asked, watching her intently as she laid the long curling peel on the table and began slicing the apple expertly and placing the slices in the bowl one by one.
"No. Yes. Maybe." She shrugged, "I feel like I'm falling from a cliff blind folded. I can't see what's coming next. How to prepare for the landing. When I will land. I don't know what to do now. "
They both fell silent for a while, sounds of birds filtered through the closed windows, despite the attempt to shut the world out. After a while, Penelope picked up the second apple and began peeling it as well.
"It's understandable to feel that way." Ackerman sighed heavily and took a slice from the bowl and turned it over in his hand. "It was my understanding that you were over the moon about being paired and couldn't wait for your Union Day. I'm sorry that he made your rejection such a horrid spectacle at the last minute." He took a bite from the crisp apple and chewed in thought as he tried to covertly watch her reaction.
Since she kept peeling the apple without stopping, he continued after he swallowed. "To tell you the truth, out of everyone in that building. I think it should be said that you were the only one who behaved appropriately." He turned his apple slice over again and sighed heavily. "And the group that deserves the blame includes me. I apologize. As Temple leader I should have reacted quicker and put a stop to the ceremony so this could be settled in private."
"It's not really your fault." She said quietly, then heaved a heavy, shaking sigh. "He had this planned out; I fear. He wanted the spectacle. He can't speak in front of a crowd to save his life; he always forgets what he's going to say unless he practices it before hand." She scoffed and shook her head. "That's why I just left. I knew there was nothing to work out, in the end. He planned this. He put effort into remembering what he wanted to say. He wanted her, and he wanted it to happen this way." She lowered the apple peel to the table with the other and looked up at Ackerman. "So, who am I to stop him, or try to insert myself where I am clearly not wanted." As she spoke, more tears fell from her eyes. "I just wish I didn't feel quite so lost." She put down the knife and wiped her eyes with her free hand.
"You're not lost," Ackerman reached out across the table and put his hand on her cheek. "You just had an awful thing be done to you, and you're hurt. It will take time to heal. Don't rush yourself on anyone's account."
"People will talk." She sobbed as more tears fell and wet his hand. He got up from his seat and rushed around the table to kneel by her chair.
"They will. And I'm afraid there's nothing you or I can do to stop them. I truly wish I could Penelope. You are not at fault for this and you, if anyone, are the victim here. Other people are not your concern right now. Your concern is your how heart and future." He took the apple from her hand as it looked as though she was going to drop it any second and felt her lean against him and sob into his shoulder. He cradled her head and stroked her back gently. "I wish I could take this burden from you, truly." He said softly as she blubbered into his purple robe. "But it your hurt, and sadly, I don't think even the gods can mend a broken heart overnight."
Her sobs became louder, and her shoulders trembled as she cried into his shoulder.

Will we see Casual Geographic Soni doing a video on the Garchomp line, since she has Pike ?
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "Today is a special day because we're going to talk about Gible."
Tumblr media
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "So, the first thing that you would notice about Gible is their big mouth. Their mouths are large and definitely for biting, which is pretty obvious. What isn't obvious is that their stomachs are small in turn, so you don't need to feed them much food to make them full."
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "As you can tell, their big chompers are definitely going to hurt if you're dumb enough to go near them or their holes. Granted, you can't really avoid them either, but if you see a hole in the ground and decide to stick your head down there, that's on you."
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "I should also mention that Gibles will bite their Pokemon Trainer for the sake of showing affection. Sure, it's pretty scary when you're not used to them, but Gibles, when you earn their trust and care for them, are protective and will do what they can to protect those under their care."
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "Although they're powerful, they're also pretty clumsy because of it. Think of someone who doesn't fully understand their powers and then hurts themself in the process. It's a very cute trait that most people don't expect from Gible."
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "Granted, don't think this little one will stay little forever. Far from it. Gibles evolve twice, once into Gabite, and the final time into Garchomp."
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "Gabites' scales are actually used as traditional medicine and it's quite effective for illnesses with the old texts. Although, don't take any of the shiny objects in its cave or its holes; otherwise, you're in for a reckoning. That's not including the final evolution and what it can do."
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "They can fly at speeds that rival jets- something that you can tell by appearance alone. Its sheer power and speed make it a deadly opponent, and that's not taking into consideration the fact that a trained one is even more versatile than a Wild one due to its exposure to many uncommon threats outside its natural habitat. They are fighters when threatened, as any Pokemon is liable to be if threatened."
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "Back home, there's a famous Champion who uses Garchomp on her team and was heavily feared for years. Even after all these years, she's still one of the top trainers in the world, and rightfully so. Many are in awe of her skill because this Garchomp is her strongest Pokemon, and rightfully so given that it was her Starter Pokemon."
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "What's this person's name? Ah, that's something that I can't say, but I will say this: Never underestimate her or her skill because you will sorely regret doing so."
Tumblr media
Casual Pokegraphic Soni: "If you ever come across her, you might find her chilling out near the beach, some local ruins, or if you're ever lucky to see someone challenging her to a battle, then you'll understand her strength."

So I have rewatched the pilot episode of Hazbin Hotel more times than I care to admit. And every time I watch it there is a line Alastor says that really sticks out to me. Like a window into an aspect of who he is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene is one of the very first we get of Alastor following his warning. To which, I think, makes it both important and actually quite telling. For multiple reasons.
For starters, Alastor was honest with Charlie and Vaggie from the moment he walked in the door. This goes against any concept we have, knowing his origins as a serial killer. Serial killers, as we all know, lure in victims and evade suspicion through dishonesty (not to mention serial killers have a tendency to kill to get some sort of sexual gratification, where Alastor is Asexual so the pieces don't line up there). But Alastor is honest about his desire to watch demons fail at trying to better themselves. He is honest about the reason why he believes Charlie's dream will fail, which by itself gives us a hint into who he may very well be.
That hint is that Alastor actually has a very strong sense of justice. So much so that he feels those in hell deserve to be in hell. Not just so much that they can't be redeemed, but that they shouldn't. For this reason, he wants to see them punished- to see them "trip and fall into the fiery pit of failure."
His sense of justice may have well been warped in the same way a yandere's concept of a loving relationship is warped. And that is something else I will get to in a moment.
If Alastor truly does kill out of some concept or personal sense of justice, the story Vaggie tells of Alastor toppling powerful overlords who had been dominant for centuries makes sense. We know, from what we have seen in the pilot, the Addict MV, and some comics that the Overlords are some of the most malicious demons in hell. If Alastor cleaned house, it is very possible that the overlords he killed were far more malicious than the ones that are left.
But back on track, Alastor doesn't come off as some creepy serial killer to me. Yes, he may have been one in life but that doesn't necessarily mean he was psychotic as he is sometimes portrayed. And my reason for that is, ironically, this:
Tumblr media
Alastor straight up says, basically, "yeah, I can kill you, but I'm not going to." And this isn't the only instance of this we have.
Tumblr media
The butcher, who we know was initially harassing a demon in his shop (as Alastor saw), reaches for his cleaver to attack Alastor. Whether out of fear or maybe he gets his meat from every animal-esque demon that passes through. Who knows. But Alastor saw the butcher as a potential threat and gave a similar warning to the one he gave Vaggie.
Which, for anyone who has seen my posts before, this was the butcher's strike two. His first was getting caught harassing his customer, to which Alastor civilly intervened. Only to demonstrate his ability during strike two. His strike three was when he was caught trying to hurt and possibly kill the lamb patron.
Tumblr media
Which brings me to what may have caused this skewed sense of justice in Alastor.
In the image above, look at Alastor's face. He hears the scuffle inside, and freezes. The expression on his face is one of clear shock. It is a common theory in the fandom that this was significant for Alastor. Perhaps because he witnessed his mother, who he loved so very much, get abused. Unknown by whom, assumed to be his father, but either way this could very well be another clue.
What I personally theorize is that Alastor did witness his mother getting abused in some manner or another. Perhaps more than one. Which wasn't that uncommon in his time period, as divorce still carried a heavy stigma in society throughout the early 1900s. You were looked down upon for divorcing your spouse for any reason, with the exception of adultery, bigamy, and impotence. So his mother likely stayed in the abusive marriage because she had to, and Alastor was powerless to do anything about it until he was a grown man. But witnessing that injustice night after night likely brought about what inevitably made him a serial killer.
But who were his typical targets? I believe, not unlike how he was in life, anyone he came across that "deserved" punishment met their end by his hands. Alastor played the role of judge, jury, and executioner. This, of course, was a sin for which he was punished.
Not to misdirect, but I remember reading somewhere that in life he hunted deer. If this is true, I thought that was rather ingenious. Invite a shit person along on a hunting trip, and they have an "accident" while hunting. Never to return again. And even if he somehow got linked to a discovered body in the woods, assuming one was ever found, he can easily say it was accidental death or flat out deny it, and they couldn't exactly disprove anything he said. Especially when you consider how bad investigative technology was back then.
There definitely seems to be a method to his madness. Mind, he did try to kill Sir Pentious at the end of the pilot, and definitely seemed pleased with himself... but to be fair he was more of a threat with his machine pointed at Alastor than a butcher reaching for a cleaver or a moth demon girl with a spear. Not to mention Sir Pentious doesn't seem to care who he hurts. Even if he is an absolute dork while doing it.
But to conclude, I definitely think Alastor is a much deeper character than people think. All the characters are very deep, we have gotten a look into some of the depth to Angeldust. And I think that alone should herald some interesting depth to all of the main Hazbin Hotel cast.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
