#I never got the impression that this was because he was more mentally ill than other people on the train.

Infinity Train isn't the best counterpart to Last of Us on positive representation. Remember the only explicitly Neurodivergent character in Infinity Train became a villain and died brutally on screen?
No, I don't remember. But what I do remember is that the entire core concept of the show is basically "a train that puts people through magical therapy." And so I remember that nearly every lead character is clearly dealing with some form of mental illness or another. I don't need every character to be explicitly diagnosed onscreen to know that the show is chock-full of neurodivergent characters, so I'm quite genuinely not sure what you mean. Have I missed something?
#like correct me if I'm wrong but i recall Simon's inability to see other living creatures as fully alive came from a place of entitlement#and i didn't see it as an accident that it was the white boy who was ultimately unable to break free of the power it gave him#but like. I don't know how a neurodivergent person can watch season 2 and come away with#the idea that MT is somehow a neurotypical character written by a neurotypical person#and in season 4 the guys fight a monster that is the literal embodiment of depression. am i missing something?#what does simon have? i don't recall him explicitly stating a mental illness or difference. maybe I've forgotten#but like. all the characters are mentally ill. for some of them that is why they are on the train!#having all of them state an official medical diagnosis would not only be distracting but impossible in some cases#mt doesn't have access to mental health services how could they know??#simon was a mentally ill person who got so fucking sucked into the comfort and power of cultism that he was lost and it was a tragedy#I never got the impression that this was because he was more mentally ill than other people on the train.#just like how people who get really into conspiracy theories are not doing it because they are mentally ill.#illness might make them more vulnerable to brainwashing but there is a DRIVE that has to be there too.#and very often that drive is a kind of hatred and insecurity that cannot be reasoned with. it is a tragedy. a very real tragedy.#original

Ellie what the fUCK ARE YOU DOING
Camboy Leon? Huh?? You’re gonna drop that and not elaborate? Didn’t realize you were such a PRUDE /j
I would pay so much money to see this guy’s onlyfans, it’s not even funny anymore
(It’s worth noting that I’ve been having an absolute existential crisis every time I think about dick. Leon’s dick would probably cure all of my chronic illness; both mental and physical)
stands over you menacingly :) camboy leon you shall have teehee <3 dare me to expand this into a full fic ehe
(cws: camboy!leon, masturbation, voyeurism, piercings, pining, work crushes)
Tumblr media
Leon who works with you at the DSO and, for a special agent, seems pretty neutral. he's stoic but has that dry sense of humour you love, puffing out teasing comments here and there whenever he has the chance. he's admired by everyone but never has any girls on his arm, never dates, never does more than purse his lips in secrecy when the guys boast about their sexual exploits. but even so, his tight-lipped response to anything like that gives him more charm–up until people finally start letting it go in favour of bigger, juicier gossip. but you never do, because even though you're just an intern, you can only dream of what it would be like to have a man like Leon. scratch that, you really just want Leon, because he's the whole package in your eyes even though you can't imagine him ever even sparing you a glance.
but one day, months after the Graham rescue mission, your night gets a little….lonely. Leon's been the talk of the office for weeks since he got back, with everyone swapping stories about his exploits and feeding you so much delicious fodder for your wildest fantasies about your work crush–and one day, hoping to try and pry him off of your mind, you click around the web for a bit until you stumble across an explorer page for a new, adult website.
obviously the curiosity gets to you when you spot the directory of public users, each and every one offering "services" for interested viewers–and you scroll through it for quite a while, searching through the names and checking out a few clips until you come across one that really catches your eye.
blondie.scott → new video available!
his profile photo is cute–it's just a cropped photo of his fingers throwing up a peace sign, although it's positioned over his lap where you can clearly see a dark, thick outline in his light-coloured sweatpants. clicking over to his video list, you've got an impressive library to peek through of free videos he offers, with only a few at the top being locked behind a subscriber paywall. the first one you click on looks pretty tame, but even so it has you sweating as the video buffers and you nearly end up shutting it off completely.
but because you're just too curious, you wait for it to start. and when it does, you get an eyeful of this smooth-chested, rough-voiced, absolute adonis of a man touching himself while the camera records it all from the neck down. he grips his cock with tight, long strokes that feel so needy–and it's pretty too, thick and ruddy at the tip and always glistening as he rubs his precum up and down the shaft, occasionally swirling his thumb round the slit to draw a buck from his hips and a groan out of his throat. being shirtless as he does it with his boxers tucked up underneath his hips, your mouth goes dry at the sight of two shiny barbells of silver nestled by each of his plush nipples. piercings. whoever this guy is, he's bold. and he's just….to die for, c'mon. and you can't even get the image of him cumming out of your mind, the raspy whines as he cusses up a storm and the frantic twitches of his cock while it spurts rope after rope all over his hand…your sleep is restless that night, because every time you close your eyes you can only see that handsome stranger fucking his hand like you wish you could get fucked. it's been so long you feel like a virgin at this point.
after that first video, you're hooked. before you know it, you've made a habit of watching this blondie guy's videos and you look forward to cracking open your browser at the end of a long day, especially when things get extra hectic at the DSO. often you're stuck at your desk for long stretches of time then, and after awhile it becomes so routine you slip up a bit and watch some of his clips when you're left alone in the office, drowning in a sea of paperwork when it's late enough at night that nobody else would even consider coming by. it's pretty easy to cover up, but even still some of his videos just rile you up so much you end up leaving a wet, sticky spot in your chair that you're forced to scrub off before your coworkers come in the next morning.
that doesn't mean the site is erased from your computer, though. it doesn't mean it's not accessible just because you've got a passcode to unlock your desktop. and if a certain somebody–who knows your birthday and has a bit of a thing for you–were to take a peek and see what you've been busy watching…well, he'll be quite pleased that you've got such good taste. and maybe he'll make a video just for you, just to hint that he knows your little secret just like you know his.

love all your thoughts on eridan so much!! ive had erikar as a passive concept in my head since i started slowly rereading homestuck, bit i never invested as much thought into it...it makes a LOT of sense.
very curious on your thoughts on eridan and nepeta, if you have any? i dont really see much around of the two of them and how they may act around each other (most likely because, iirc, they have basically no substantial interaction in the comic....) but its a concept ive twisted around in my head a little.
Hahah, one of my friends is a Nepeta roleplayer, so we have hashed this OUT. Basically, I think if they talked a bit more, under the right circumstances, they might try pitch for a bit, but resolve to normal friendship. TL;DR, at the end of the day, they just don't really have anything to particularly hate about each other, or to particularly love, but I think they'd make for really good friends actually, if Eridan gets his shit together and Nepeta comes out of her shell a little more. She might wind up having to play auspice for him because... he has a lot of problems... and as a Heart player, with more proximity to him, she'd realize "oh, wait, he's not that bad, hes just mentally fucking ill," and there are people on the team who would not give him that kind of grace.
Flushed is pretty canonically off the table - despite having hit on her several times, Eridan seems to have accepted the rejection, and Nepeta herself comments that it always came off as "cr33py and insincere", which it probably was - he's clearly not over Feferi, and has a kind of "please god anyone would be fine I just don't want to be alone" vibe. Nepeta is definitely looking for more sincerity than that, and although Eridan's Type is very much cheerful, bubbly, nice girls (what he thinks Feferi is), I think they're pretty incompatible overall.
His antics and Emotional Issues would probably be super taxing on Nepeta long-term, he'd wind up in a million fights with protective Equius (Eridan is a crazed murderer even just objectively), and he's really not a particularly kind or pleasant person.
Meanwhile, although he's basically willing to go along with anything that'll get him attention, I think he'd be very puzzled by Nepeta's expectations that he do Romantic Things, or otherwise adhere to certain romantic tropes and social norms, which he can't do; when this inevitably leads to hurt feelings, his response to perceived danger is "fight," so he'd probably end up making it worse. So! Flushed is flushed. Down the load gaper, I mean.
Trying on pitch, I think if Nepeta was already a little bit out of her shell - say, Equius has died, or she's otherwise locked in a SGRUB dungeon with him, or something like that - she and he would come to blows over Eridan's performative casteism. Nepeta's the anti-casteism troll, after all, and if she's worked up enough, she's quite spirited and opinionated, and Eridan is down for anything, so it would be something I can absolutely see forming.
Actually, hilariously, when my friend and I RP'd this out, Nepeta wound up with a pitch crush, and Eridan wound up with a FLUSHED crush, because he was THAT BAD at differentiating between good and bad attention. Nepeta was totally floored, she was like, dude i was calling you stupid and terrible??? how the fuck did you interpret that as FLUSHED??? and eridan was like i dont know... maybe... i might have mental illness......
The problem is, I don't see their pitched dalliance lasting, for two main reasons - the first is that Eridan wouldn't hate Nepeta long-term, even if he can work up some caliginous energy because he's desperate; she's too genuinely nice and kind and he loves nice and kind people. Similarly, Nepeta wouldn't be able to hate Eridan the more she got to know him - since he's kind of the least casteist highblood, despite his initial impression, she would lose her fundamental reason for opposing him, and would instead start going "oh god, hes so traumatized, he's like that because he's really messed up inside."
The second is because I think they're dangerous for each other, physically. Eridan is a volatile highblood with severe emotional problems and a bodycount in the thousands, and Nepeta is very reckless in the face of danger; I can genuinely see them going a little too hard and Eridan getting a bit of a highblood buzz and winding up severely injuring Nepeta, which he would feel completely fucking terrible about, and then not allow himself to ACT like he feels terrible about it. Even if they stay in the relationship, it would kill his vibe, since when he isn't on an outright murder spree, he doesn't want to hurt his friends ("wwhat kind of friend wwould i be"). And that's not even factoring in how much EQUIUS would flip out over it.
I also don't think Nepeta is particularly equipped to deal with Eridan's problems, even if she does recognize and sympathize with them more than most on their team. Although she'd have more success than others, I think it'd leave her exhausted, because Eridan is exhausting. A Heart player obsessed with true feelings and sincerity and genuineness is just a bad match for the kid who's 90% façade.
So, ultimately, I think they'd resolve to really good friends, and Nepeta might wind up being a middle leaf for Eridan in an auspicetism situation, since Eridan... tends to draw aggro, and Nepeta at least would care about him enough that she doesn't want to see him get killed (even in the comic, as Nepetasprite, she expresses sadness that Eridan is dead, although she doesn't seem to know about his murders).
Eridan is also a roleplayer, lest we forget, and if Nepeta is able to draw out rare flashes of genuineness, they do have a bunch in common - she could commiscerate with him over the thrill of the hunt (although she'd have to be careful not to get too into the weeds about the, uh, Troll Murder aspect), RP with him (in a safe environment), or gossip about romance. They're both pretty painfully sincere people at their core, so while I ultimately don't see them being particularly romantically compatible, I do really love the idea of them being close friends. If only Eridan didn't always make things Fucking Weird.
And also since I really love pitch FefNep, Nepeta becoming friends with Eridan would help fuel her hate dates with Feferi - ":33 < do you even realize how messed up killing lusii fur YOU left him???" "W)(at would you )(ave preferred, t)(at my lusus went )(ungry and krilled everybody? 3X0"

Hey hey
Hey
Johnny Silverhand's not cool
Johnny's disabled. Johnny had a military issued chrome forced onto him. Johnny treated himself like shit and probably smelled like shit too for it.
Do you think he got therapy for it? No I don't mean mental therapy I mean physical therapy, for the arm, I mean do you think he got physical therapy for a metal arm shoved onto a wound (I don't expect the wound was taken care of anymore than what was strictly practical no of course not), no no he wasn't given therapy, he wasn't given time to adapt, his trauma at losing a trustworthy friend on the field was just stacked with the trauma of just being weaponized even more before being put back on the field for a fucking pointless war, so that means-
I mean you know about amputation? No? No, right, of course not, it'd be weird, right? To know about amputation and implants and prothesis and the psychological impacts in detail you'd need to have read up on it, pretty obsessively at that, too, that's not normal, normal people don't do that, what kind of weirdo has hyperfixations about that because of OCD right? Right.
Well amputations are so fucking traumatizing even if they save your life. Of course they are. It's a part of your body. Your body is not supposed to see its insides and it's not supposed to lose parts either, your brain can't actually compute that, like let's say, cutting your nails?
They put a metal arm on him like cutting nails, they didn't care, he wasn't a person to them he was a tool.
He never got physical therapy for it. He never went to have it recalibrated or maintained. Why would he? I don't even think he knows what model it is. Do you think they bothered telling him? Do you think they gave him a little booklet for "how to take care of your new implant"? Ahahahah of course not that'd be so fucking silly and kind and thoughtful. Of course not.
Johnny needs his addictions. Do you think he has prescribed medicine for the chronic pains that the arm causes him? No of course not. Do you think he started drinking and taking Lace because it was fun? Because it was cool? Because he was gonna be a rockerboy? And he wanted to impress girls.
In the real world, as of 2020, the first cause of mortality in the USA is opiates, and the main demographic is white men, aged 30 to 60, roughly, a large amount of those men war veterans, cumulating psychological trauma even prior to the addiction, even prior to the army itself, cus the majority of people who join the military do it to escape poverty and a dysfunctional household. It's a well oiled machine because at worse they go back to the motherland and die quietly of OD or something else, or best case scenario they have kids! And some of those kids are boys, and out of middle class recrutes, a good part are from military families!
It's a system that works just as designed really.
America, abuse and neglect of your chronically ill and chronically in pain is part of your DNA currently.
Johnny's not cool. He runs hot, he's a fucking spoonie who ran out of spoons before he even joined the military so now all he's got is knives. Knives knives nothing else nothing but knives. Johnny's a man overheating on constant, he's been dying for years, he likely has fevers from his port inflammatory's issues due to neglect, he doesn't know how to take care of himself, he wasn't taught, it's not expected of him, no one in his entourage sees him as what he is, do you remember for one second someone treating him like he was disabled and needed accomodation?
Disabled people whose chronic pains are not given the deserved care are most likely to develop the hardest addictions to cope with it, with the physical pain, and the psychological consequences- namely, psychosis, psychosis is a common consequence for having your pain ignored because this kind of neglect breaks your psyche at its core, at its sense of self.
Johnny has all the symptoms of a man in pain but because American soft power made drug abuse cool people think he's cool for drinking and fucking and killing and coking himself up until he blows himself up. Johnny's not cool, he's a tragedy, he's hurt, he's self-medicating, no he's not going to go cold turkey because he loves Kerry or because he loves your V, love isn't going to fucking save him, if you just erase Johnny's addictions because you think love fixes that honestly fuck you, because I'm tired of people just treating addiction like a bad spot to bleach out of sight, like it's got no roots and it's got no continuation, to no longer need self-medication Johnny would need reparation and better treatment, especially if he's brought back with that fucking arm, why do people not get that he didn't reclaim the arm, he let it take over, for fuck's sake he canonically blames all HIS bad deeds on The Hand, that's not reclaiming, that's self-sabotage.
Johnny dies like a pathetic pawn in Blackhand's plan, and even among people who were supposed to be his own, he's not seen as anything but a hero or a monster. No inbetween. He's not a man to them. He's something to workship, and if he doesn't grant them miracles he's the Devil.
What a load of bullshit.
Fuck, Johnny's not cool. Johnny needed help but didn't even want it because he was so full of violence and hatred he killed himself. But he deserved better nonetheless.

Rue Bennett x Fem Reader
Summary: You become Rue's rebound from Jules; you are aware from the beginning that this wasn't a serious relationship. However, what happened in your bed with her seemed pretty momentous.
Word Count: 2k+
Trigger Warning: Smut and Drugs
<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Ever since you first saw Rue, you knew you were going to get close with her. She was a beautiful mentally ill druggie and what could you say, that was your type. You guys really gravitated to each other because of your issues. It's easy to be with someone who is struggling the same as you because you don't have to explain things that are unhealthy yet normal. It was nice not having someone judge you for your depression room or wanting to rot in bed. Not to mention drinking or getting high with someone who wasn't doing it to post online. It's not like you didn't know that this was toxic, you just didn't care. Both of you had people in your life that lectured you daily. People who were always gazing at you with disappointed eyes. You were each other's escape from that, and that meant a lot to the both of you.
You met her when you were skipping class in the bathroom smoking. She asked you for a couple of puffs off the blunt, which you gave her. You complained about how teachers would seem to pick on the kids whom they knew didn't pay attention. You asked if she wanted to ditch with you and she was more than happy to do so. You walked the 30 minutes to your house, Rue asked you if your parents would be home and this is when you told her your mom had died. She didn't say much about her dad dying but she did let you know. There was no need to explain because you both knew what it was like. Like a mutual agreement not to acknowledge each other's suffering. It was the first time you'd ever snorted a pill. You were nervous, like super scared but she talked you through everything which made you feel comforted. You turned on Jersey Shore and laid in bed together, just zoning out. You had a swamp cooler that directly faced your bed, which made the room ice cold. This brought you two closer underneath the blankets.
After taking a nap, Rue FaceTimed her mom to show she was at a friend's house. You sat at your desk with your laptop and pretended to be working on homework. This made you both burst into laughter once she hung up. Your dad came home from his 16 hour shift and greeted you before going to bed. You shared the burger king that he brought home for dinner. When Rue lit the blunt in the middle of eating, you knew she was going to be a bad habit. The one time you did that in front of someone they called you disgusting for doing so. When she did this so nonchalantly, it really left an impression on you.
"I think we're going to be great together," you said, stuffing your face with the golden fries.
"Are you sure about that?" she asked to take a drag before taking a bite of her burger.
"If you let us be then yeah," you said, taking the blunt from her.
Ever since then, you two were pretty much inseparable. It was definitely weird at times; once, you were walking down the hall hand in hand with Rue and passed Jules. It made you feel bad, especially because you knew that they were together when she was sober. It made you feel inferrer a bit, like Jules got the real Rue. You never brought this up to her, because you didn't want to scare her off. You also were doing drugs with her so it felt a bit hypocritical to say anything about that.
You were sitting in the cafeteria with Rue, picking at your lunches. You were trying to finish a math assignment that was due next period. Rue was drawing things like bongs and weed flowers, knowing it would distract you because it had to be raised. She kept laughing when you would playfully scold her for doing so.
"It's just a piece of paper," she would taunt you.
"iT's jUsT a PiEcE oF PaPer," you would mimic.
She laughed and continued until you finished the last equation and raised the last doodle. You kissed her on the cheek and she hung her head down giggling to herself. You practically huffed half a cart down in the bathroom before entering the cafeteria. She pulled your chair closer and nudged you with her shoulder. The bell rang shortly after, you got up and threw both of your trays away and started walking towards your class. Rue pulled you by the arm into the bathroom, the one with the scratched mirror behind the E-building. None of the girls used it to actually go to the restroom because they couldn't examine themselves obsessively in the mirror. She helped you sit on the edge of the sink, resting each hand on either side of you.
"And where did you think you were going?" she asked.
"5th period," you responded rhetorically.
"Why don't we go to your place and uh, have some fun? she stated more than asked.
"You won't get in trouble?" you asked.
"I'll think of an excuse letter," she said, giving you a kiss before helping you down.
You guys took the bus back to your place, neither of you wanted to walk the distance. Once you were home you went back to your bedroom and cranked the AC on. Rue complained about the icebox of a room you have which made you laugh; there was no way you were turning it off. You went to your closet and pulled out your half drank bottle of Kirkland vodka. You went into the kitchen and grabbed a tall glass and filled it with ice before heading back into the room. You pour a good amount of alcohol into it, letting it chill for a minute.
"You're so high maintenance, why don't you drink it out of the bottle?" she asked.
"Well sorry if I don't want my entire chest and throat burning after the first shot," you said, walking over to her and kissing her forehead. When you walked back to strain the liquor into the shot glasses, she followed.
"Seriously this seems excessive," she said, wrapping her arms around your waist from behind.
"Quit your bitchin' and take this with me," you said, turning around and handing her the tiny glass. You quickly cheer and both tip your head back.
You pull away from her and go digging in your backpack, grinning from ear to ear once you feel the plastic baggie. When you pull it out, you show Rue she matches your grin. It was two tabs of acid that had a faint picture of the Rick and Morty logo, barely visible due to the discolorations. It didn't take long to kick in, well it did but due to the second and third shot it didn't feel that long. You were both giggling and dancing with each other around your room. Knocking each other over every once in a while, landing on the bed. You would quickly recover once a song motivated you both enough to start dancing again. You were feeling light, like your head could lift you off the ground. Rue kept running her hands through your hair which would make you shiver. Rue kept wanting to do a line but you eventually found another way to distract her.
The last time you fell on the bed you ended up face to face, rubbing each other's foreheads together. She kept running her hands down your arm and the exposed skin on your side. She kept mumbling about how soft you were. Hearing this come for her was making your stomach flip. Somewhere between cuddling and rubbing against one another you start to make out. She was laying on her back and you were straddling her. You were holding her head in your hands as you kissed. She quickly sits up which catches you off guard. You pull your tee-shirt off and get slightly embarrassed when you are reminded of the fact that you didn't have a bra on. She stared at your chest for a while before taking your nipple into her mouth. You let out a moan and let her pull you as she let her back fall against your mattress. You pull away and tug at her sweat pants, she takes the hint and helps you take them off. You smirk and take your shorts off, you start grinding against her. You hover back over her and start to give her a hickey on her neck. She starts playing with your chest as you do this. This made it harder to kiss her neck because you were moaning so much.
"Fuck you look like a pornstar," Rue said flipping you over and shoving her hand into your panties.
She started playing with your clit, using her middle finger. You bury your face into her neck and let out a couple moans. If she already thought you looked like a pornstar so you might as well sound the part. You were completely soaked, this was the first time you'd ever done anything like this with rue. The sexual tension between you had been building for so long, that even hearing her voice sometimes made you melt. It was nice to have a sexual experience with someone and not worry about how you looked or came across as. She continued to stroke you, arched you back and buckled your hip up every once in a while. You tried kissing her but you were in such a state of pleasure that your lips were just pressed together slightly. It was like she was trying to eat your moans. You pull away from her right before your climax.
"Do.. you wanna, uh.. 69?" you asked, trying to catch your breath.
"Yeah but only if you're on top of me," she said.
"You're sinister for that," you said, getting on top.
"And much more," she said, smacking you with what felt like all the strength she had.
When you started eating her out, you were pleased to feel that she was just as wet as you. You were kind of worried that she might not be as into you as you are her but that thought quickly left. You start flicking your tongue slowly, slowly increasing your pace as she did the same. She penetrated you with her fingers which made you gasp and press yourself onto her face. When you did this, she smacked your ass with both hands causing you to squeal. You tried to keep your rhythm but you were finding this hard because of how close you were getting. You were full on riding her face and fingers at this point. You could tell that Rue was getting close because he rhythm was becoming spotty. As you started to cum, you could feel her clit harden slightly. This was just enough encouragement to keep going instead of sitting up and going full cowgirl on her face. You both rode out your orgasm before you fell back next to her on the bed.
You grabbed your tee-shirt and wiped her face off before doing the same to yourself. You both looked over at each other and couldn't help but burst out laughing. Not because it was awkward, more likely from the drugs that were still in your system. You both change into different clothes before cuddling back in bed. Rue had fallen asleep for a while while you played with her hair. You noticed some of her curls sticking to her neck because she was so sweaty. You grabbed a hair tie and pulled all her hair into a bun. Every once in a while you would plant a kiss on her forehead or nose. She was holding onto by the waist, you woke her up to ask if her arm was losing circulation from being underneath you.
"Don't wake me up to ask stupid shit like that again," she grumbled. Right as she finished the sentence, there was a hard knock at the door which made both of you jump.
"Dinner's on the counter!" your dad shouted through the door, when you both looked over and saw the panicked expression on each other's faces you both started laughing.

gallavich daughter gets diognosed with borderline personality disorder
They walked into the dark, gloomy office dimly lit by the fluorescents that were all too familiar. The couple had started to sense something off with their daughter, fearing the worst. They immediately got into the car and set off, Y/N with them. She didn’t know exactly why she was going, she had just thought they were being precautionary because of her dad’s mental illness being genetic and all that. She wasn’t worried about being bipolar, recognising all of the symptoms early on, only having a few insignificant ones. (but that wasn’t uncommon with growing up in a place like this).
You see, Y/N was adopted 7 years ago, making her 6. Her family was okay, not much better than the others in this town but not all bad. That was until they found out her brother had gotten into a car accident. He had always been the golden child of the family, so her parents went mad. They resorted to what everyone else in this city did, drugs. Her dad was a recovering addict, and it sent him and her mom into a downward spiral. Someone saw them, worried (knowing that they had a young kid) and reported it to DCFS.
She was in a group home for about 6 months, being a shy little girl and not talking to anyone. That was until two scary-looking men in big black uniforms walked in. She was starstruck. They walked over to the front desk and she ran to them, tugging on their uniforms with a big smile, trying to impress them so that they would take her home. It had worked. The next day they took her back to their shabby two-bedroom unit, and as soon as she walked in, it was a home. Their home. Now, back to the current situation.
Y/N was sitting in a waiting room chair, watching her dads walk up to the front desk, worried looks on their faces. She had been acting out recently, being closed off and getting into more trouble than usual. They tried to do their research, thinking it was nothing. They found out that all her symptoms could lead to borderline personality disorder. She had recently been getting bullied and it takes an event to set off.
They sat down in a bland-ass room, Y/N sitting in front of the desk, biting her lip. “Okay! Hello Mr and Mr Gallagher-Milkovich, what can I do for Y/N today”? The doctor said way too enthusiastically.
What joy does she get from telling people they have life-changing mental problems? “Umm, just an evaluation,” Ian said quietly, almost unsure about what they wanted. He didn't want to mention that they might know what she has, not wanting to come across eager for this situation, because he wasn’t, neither of them were. They knew that if she had this disease, that it wasn’t medicated like Ian’s, that there was no cure. “Okay! That’s all good, but we normally have the parents leave for this part of the appointment, so we’ll send someone out for you when we’re done”.
Mickey’s heart dropped, he didn’t want to leave her, he had been with Ian to the doctors countless times, never being asked to leave. He knew how stressful these appointments are and couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t want their daughter to be accompanied during an uncomfortable session.
The two men stood in fear and anxiety, not excited for what was to come. All they wanted was to be with their little girl.
“Gallagher-Milkovich? Y/N’s finished her appointment and we need to talk to you,”. Their hearts drop. That only happens if something bad is going on. They rushed into the room with Y/N there, looking at them scared. She obviously didn't know yet. “After today's consultation, and looking at Y/N’s medical records we sadly have to diagnose her with something called Borderline Personality Disorder. We can recommend specialists and therapists, but at the moment there isn't any known treatment other than therapy”. Mickey zoned out for the rest of the conversation.
No, he couldn’t go through this again. At least Ian's disorder is treatable, what was he gonna do with Y/N’s? He could see Ian listening intently, not knowing how he could bare listening to the conversation. Y/N looked scared. Of course she did, being diagnosed with a very life-changing disorder would make you scared. Mickey, who was standing behind her pulled her into him, resting his hands on her shoulder. Y/N was silent, even when she was asked a question, she wouldn’t answer.
They understood why, of course. Even the doctor did, never directly pushing for an answer. Once their appointment was done, they slowly walked out of the building and to the car. Y/N sat down, still not saying anything to her dads. Ian was trying to talk to her, but it always came out in mumbles. She understood why they were so uncomfortable.
I’ll make a part two to this with headcannons <333

can you elaborate your thoughts on 'the bear' show? i keep seeing it all over my dash and it looks interesting but i wanna know what to look out for since you said the politics isn't handled well.
having now watched all of the second season—a major problem sticking out to me is that the show can’t quite decide what tone it wants to strike. in season one, you had these dream sequences intended to communicate carmy’s [in]ability to process his feelings about michael, spliced with an otherwise v realist tone—but the show never really leant into either consistently using a surrealist external world to represent something internal to a character or going straightforwardly realist. season two has, eg., a moment where syd sees the text on the rapidly generating tickets change from table orders to like “fuck” over and over, and, like—it’s the same thing again, it’s the use of an obviously not ‘literal’ physical space communicating the mental headspace of the character whose perspective we briefly occupy, but, like, the show can’t quite commit to the tone that this slightly trickier technique demands, so it just feels awkward and clumsy and like a cheap way of communicating a character’s internal state. i thought the bit in season one where carmy dreams he’s on a cooking show that goes horribly wrong was really tonally effective and an excellent segue into the rest of the episode, but, like, they just kind of pull this conceit out when they need it and ignore it when they don’t. and i wish they’d try to do more with it! shit or get off the pot.
the dialogue is also just … pretty weak at points. there’s a lot of like, characters launching into anecdotes as a technique of exposition, which … i can put up with once or twice, but when it just keeps happening, i can’t help but think of it as lazy writing. season 2 also seemed to spread itself far too thin; we have different episodes dedicated to different secondary characters, which if handled well could be effective—the idea is that they’re a team, that everyone contributes something and everyone has to pull their weight, and we spend time with each individual before seeing how it all comes together at the end. that did kind of half-land in the final episode, but on an individual level, the episodes just weren’t tightly constructed enough for any one storyline to feel complete. tina and marcus in particular felt … underused, underdeveloped, i feel like i barely have more of a sense of their characters than i did at the end of season 1. marcus’ episode especially felt incredibly flat; we learnt (through Dialogue Exposition) about his relationship to his terminally ill mother, which i think worked well enough, but other than that, the process of learning new baking techniques felt half-assed and lacked any real tension, will poulter’s character was completely forgettable. glad we got some pretty shots of copenhagen, but like, what was the point.
ideologically it sucks lol. there’s a chef who’s fired for doing drugs which the narrative is v much fine with, there’s pithy comments about people coming into the restaurant in groups and buying one thing so they can sit around, there’s … just no real sense of the ways in which restaurants are classed spaces, service work is a denigrated form of labour, hospitality is a v abusive industry … richie’s episode in season 2 focuses on him learning some nauseatingly bootlicky hospitality shit as a barometer of Character Growth to the point that i was laughing when i watched it because i couldn’t take it seriously at all. (there’s a line where a manager says that serving fine dining guests can be compared to looking after people in hospital in terms of the level of care you bring to the job … i guess that’s why they call it … Hospitality … and i was just sat there cackling. like, be serious.) there’s just no drive to interrogate the hospitality industry & how the impression of servitude and deference is built into the world of fine dining and what that means, no serious criticism of restaurant work beyond carmy’s flashbacks to chefs being abusive to him that become a discursive dead end when the show doesn’t develop them to tackle the nature of fine dining itself.
my final big problem is that it’s very thematically flimsy. the conceit of the show is that carmy has to interrupt his career as a fine-dining chef to come and work at michael’s v modest sandwich shop whilst emotionally processing his suicide—so it seems pretty clear to me that this would play with tensions between the culture of fine dining and that of a failing sandwich shop, right? like, clashes when the fine dining chef tries to bring fine dining techniques to the new place, in the end we all learn a valuable lesson about what we can all teach each other or whatever? and season 1 does do this, but even at the points where it seems to want to criticise the fine dining industry, by season 2 it seems to have pretty definitively joined the war on fine dining on the side of the fine dining. there’s not really a drive in season 2 to interrogate what it means to turn a neighbourhood sandwich shop into a fine dining establishment; how do regulars feel about this? what about the locals who might now be priced out of it? what about the question of gentrification? none of these are ever really brought to the forefront. in season 1, we got the sense that carmy’s fine dining world was sterile and alien where it wasn’t actively abusive, and the sandwich shop allowed him to escape that world—so why aren’t we asking questions about what kind of restaurant culture is really valuable, what really makes for good hospitality? even in a show that obviously doesn’t want to ask serious questions about restaurants under capitalism, there are all these little channels of negotiation that season 1 seemed to set up only for season 2 to let them drop.
so, yeah. i’m not convinced the show really has a strong sense of direction. season 2 felt very all over the place, and seemed to want to juggle so many things at once that it ended up not really landing any of them.

I literally can’t stop thinking about Young Royals S3
I have always been fascinated by Wille’s relationship with his parents, or lack thereof. Specifically his mother, because until this season, his father was little more than a cardboard cutout. In S1 I strongly disliked Kristina. In S2 she seemed to be trying a little more, though her efforts were specifically aimed at achieving her own goals for Wilhelm, not his. In S3, I once again dislike her, but I feel bad for disliking her.
Because truly, her grief, the extreme psychological and physical manifestations of losing a child that she is experiencing, is all completely valid, and within the spectrum of what is expected of a parent who has lost a child. I feel sympathy for the physical and mental health problems she is experiencing, and I think it’s OK for her to be experiencing it, to take a step back to deal with it.
What I don’t think is OK, however, is expecting her 16 year old son, a first year HS student with his own history of mental illness, who is also deeply grieving, to take over all of her responsibilities. Yeah, they don’t really mean for him to take over everything, because he’s a kid and still in school, but they’ve also really stepped up the pressure on him without offering much additional support (Farima offers some, she’s the most present adult in his life this season, and really the one who seems to know him and care about him most of the adults on the show). They ask him to start a foundation and support a cause, but neither of his parents show up to support him in doing that, even knowing that he has sometimes extreme anxiety regarding public speaking/public appearances. They don’t walk him through the process or offer guidance, just constantly remind him that he’s expected to step up, and may have to fully take over within a year or two, and send Farima to deal with him (which in my opinion is much better that Jan Olof, because Farima actually seems patient with Wilhelm and to know how to handle his emotions with sensitivity).
While I’m mad at Kristina, despite her legitimate grief, I’m more mad at Ludvig, I think. Yes, he also lost a child and is grieving, but he’s holding it together enough to support his wife, so why isn’t he offering any of that support to his son, even when said son starts reaching out more, and clearly wants to talk?
I also think this is all complicated by the fact that Wilhelm didn’t have a good, close relationship with his parents to begin with. Kristina was harsh and dismissive of him even before Erik died in season 1. If Kristina had only started neglecting Wilhelm, putting excessive pressure on him and comparing him to Erik after Erik had passed, I would be a lot more forgiving. But I get the impression that Wilhelm has always been compared to Erik, has always been made to feel that he isn’t good enough in comparison and needs to be more like Erik, and his parents have never made much effort to understand him. I think he often only got attention when he was in trouble, and toddlers and teenagers are similar in the fact that if their negative behaviors are what get the attention the desire, they will keep doing that as long as it is reinforced that negative behavior leads to attention. His outburst at them in episode 5 had been building a lot longer than the few months since Erik died.
I think his parents both desperately needed to hear what he was shouting out them. I think that shouting and getting angry and destroying things wasn’t the best way to go about getting them to listen, but as discussed above, I think it’s the only way he really knows how to get their attention. And yeah, the timing isn’t great, when his mother is suffering so much, but Wille is suffering, too, and he has reached his limit. It seems like a relatively little thing, to get mad that his parents talked too much about Erik on a day that’s supposed to be about Wilhelm and that his mom didn’t feel up to sticking around for cake, but that was really just the final straw on a long history of trauma, turmoil, and emotional neglect, the last Jenga block being pulled out before the tower toppled.
(Admittedly, this is young royals, it’s a show about Wilhelm, and we viewers have come to love him over the 3 seasons, it’s his struggle that is being portrayed, so of course I’m on his side and want better for him rather than siding with his mother even though I do feel some sympathy for her.)
Anyway, I will probably keep reflecting on this aspect of the show for a lot longer. Maybe I’ll even feel some inspiration to write fan fiction in response. We’ll see where it goes.
I also have a lot more thoughts about August, and about Farima of all people to share at some point.

TBP HEADCANONS ABOUT ....
{ Friend / someone they know with addiction problems / who's a bad influence }
Characters included : Finney Blake , Gwendolyn Blake , Robin Arellano , Bruce Yamada , Billy Showalter , Griffin Stagg , Vance Hopper
Warnings ! ! : Angst , addiction subject , mention of underage , physical and mental consequences of consuming , some characters would be influenced in consuming as well , crime commiting , mental illness , gun owning , aggression ( verbal and physical ) , manipulation , toxic attitudes , drugs , weed , alcoholism , smoking , no specific pronouns , etc
Author's note : if YOU or someone you know is going through some of these things help them if you can , sometimes actions are better than words , but do not let yourself or others be at risk , remember to always keep in mind that addiction can lead the person to lose touch with reality or with their emotions and will not act the same as before , so if the problem it's too big for you to handle , try to seek professional help if you feel out of control or seeking these substances more than normal or another close person of your circle , it's never late to change. End of the note .
Finney Blake would ...
Stay away from those type of people . I feel like it's easy to picture him as someone who would try to seek help for them or be in touch without difficulty with people like this but no , he lives in a constant survival mode with his father who's an alcoholic , so he knows how hard it is to keep it on when the addiction changes the person's mood and treats harshly or carelessly the ones they're close . He's not against helping a person in need as long they don't represent any danger and he's able to move on with his life , would be polite and kind in a conversation but will not befriend someone who's notoriously bad news , he's ok with fighting if it's in your defense , but constant trouble is just a no
Gwendolyn Blake would...
Not care as long as they don't treat her bad or force her into consuming as well . It's not like she would seek a bad influence on her life purposely , but if someone she met is nice and cool enough she would slowly befriend them with time . I think she would try to make the person stop consuming or at least less than normal , tell them that she doesn't like when they do it in front of her . But like I said , contrary of Finney , she's unintentionally used to it and wouldn't see that much of problem , but the second they try to make her consume as well or treat her bad she would not think twice in getting away or defend herself . She would also cut all sort of friendship if the person hurts others that are innocent , her friends or brother
Robin Arellano would...
Not care at first but would slowly start to consume as well , the habit staying with him for life even if they stop talking with the bad influence person . The person got his attention because of their fighting skills and reputation , they getting along with Robin and he would soon notice their love for smoking and drinking . At first , like I said previously , he would not care or say anything about it , it's their problem he would say , but with time he would try some just to impress the person a little , realizing that he can get even more respect from them and the school if he kept the habits . He normalized this because I believe his uncle might also smoke and drink but he would not rationalize that he's an adult and he's still in school trying to pass the year .The bad influence would make him be more irresponsible than before , this would be noticed by their family and they would scold him for it , that's when he would try to stop and moderate himself . The only way he cuts all friendship between him and that person is that they want him to do drugs , starts to mock him or hurts innocent people , that would make him back off from that person in a blink , if so person confronts Robin , he would aggressively told them to leave him alone and might be physically violent if they persist . If not , he would not see the problem in them . If so case Robin moved on from them , the damage would be already done , because he would keep smoking and drinking all along to relieve some stress , growing up with the bad habits
Bruce Yamada would...
Become addicted as well but would recover himself completely . I see him as a party type of guy and he definitely tried alcohol before but in a small amount , never getting to the drunk state until he goes to a party with strong drinks and would probably still in there because he would dismiss any danger . If pressured , I feel that Bruce would try drugs thinking it would be a one time occasion , but no . A bad game streak would make him feel on the line of being a disappointment in everyone's eyes , so in need of a distraction he goes to a party , the bad influence shows up again and tells him to take once more the substances to " feel alive " . His winning streak came back and he started to celebrate party after party , getting more and more addicted , convinced it was making him more confident and efficient on the game , but that wasn't enough , he would search outside those events and even take them before every game because he firmly believed it was the cause of his luck . It isn't until his family , clean friend , school authority or Bruce getting into a fight with a baseman for loosing where his parents grounded him , and in that time , he realizes what he had done . Later he would tell other people himself about what he been through , get himself distance from alcohol , drugs , cigarettes , bad influences , everything , focusing on the sport that he loves so much and the little simple things in life that don't need anything more to be special
Billy Showalter would ...
Try to help the person but would move on if they keep consuming . It really depends if he knows them better or not , if he never spoke once with you , he won't care , even if it's sad seeing someone's on his age consuming he would keep doing his thing . The story changes when that person is a close friend or family , then he would try everything that he can to make them understand that it's not the way , if he has the opportunity babysitting / parenting the person after a hangover , munchies , near overdose , fight , etc . But even if he wants to take care of those he cares about , if the person doesn't stop what they're doing and treats him badly or keep making fake promises of change , sadly but tired he would move on and let them be . If the person becomes clean he can reluctantly agree to come back in touch until he's sure they are out of that life for sure , if not , then he knows he tried , he's just a paper news delivery boy after all .
Vance Hopper would ...
Become addicted for life if the person doesn't get away from him . Since it's cannon stated by the actor of the character himself , Vance has a horrible home life , and he also doesn't feel safe at school since institutions back then were even more indifferent to the students problems than now , so if a bad influence told him that there's way to forget the pain , he would believe them . Toxic masculinity would push him to smoke , drink and fight even he didn't want to because that's why tough guys do , even if Vance was just a lost kid that only wanted to play Pinball at the Grab n' Go . If this bad influence invites him to the drug world , he would be scared at first to take them , although he would never admit it , but after a few tries he would become a full time addicted and might end up running away from his house , school , maybe buying guns to get more money for all the vice that he thinks he needs . Unless this bad influence moves on from Vance or back stabs him , he would stick to them and their bad habits since nobody would say anything about it , because Pin Pall Vance Hopper is the toughest kid at school , and tough boys don't cry about needing more ecstasy on their bodies or loneliness , boys don't cry . At all .
Griffin Stagg would ...
Be stucked in a endless cycle of chasing the person around in hope to save them . This person wouldn't be able to convince this little guy from taking that path on his life but sure would make him believe every fake promise of changing habits and quitting stuff , the bad influence probably knowing well how lonely and easily attached he is , so they know that no matter what they do to their body , seal to others , buy or fight with , he would stick around because they are the closest thing that he has of a friend . He would try to help them over and over , chase them around when they're gone again and again , but it never ends , he can go years like this where there's gonna be a point where Griffin accepts it and just waits for the person to come and being taken care of . Unless the bad influence moves on , he would stay by their side forever .

One of my most hated fanfic trends is where that pre-Despair treatment by his classmates is depicted as totally okay and not them being unreasonable. It's especially noticeable in RP blogs or Hinanami fics. They'll often depict his behavior in the second half of Chapter 4 as his default characterization, and have him spend every waking second going after the Reserve Course students and doing nothing else.
Which not only ignores the context of him having been mindwiped, having his first impression of the Reserve Course being the discovery that they apparently destroyed Hope's Peak, and the real source of his anger and depression being the discovery that the class are all terrorists (while being left in the dark about the brainwashing). But it kind of misses the entire point of the whole "talented vs non-talented" theme to have the locally mentally ill kid be the sole cause of the conflict.
Like I'm not against the idea of going against canon, and depicting the rest of the class trying to give him a fair shake. I think there's plenty of friendship interaction potential between him and a number of the class (e.g. Sonia, Imposter, Mahiru, etc.). But to retroactively pretend like they were being completely fair to him and he just brought the ostracism on himself is bullshit.
I think a lot of people also miss the fact that the reason Nagito is so outright antagonistic to Hajime about being a Reserve Course Student is because he feels betrayed. He feels a kinship with Hajime due to their mutual love of Hopes Peak, the two were the closest before everyone turned on him, and he's canonically in love with him. So to find out that Hajime is actually not only talentless, but responsible for destroying the academy they both love and plunging the world into despair?
That's not to say all the rudeness is only because of anger, Nagito's actual personality is actually kind of just like that because he has a God Complex and is more intelligent than all of his peers. Any time he breaks character or looks down on someone, he is kind of a bitch, but more in a "I'm smarter than you, please stop arguing with me when you have no idea what you're talking about" way.
I really do wish people would lean into the potential relationships he has with the rest of the cast more. I don't think there's any way Chisa would have let them keep mistreating him, and I was annoyed that her attempt to explain his actions to the class (which actually did get through to them!) got glossed over in favor of the "Everybody hates Nagito" gag.
Some thoughts on potential relationships:
I personally hc him as besties with Sonia post-canon. Not only because she's the most forgiving, because I feel like the fandom makes her do a lot of emotional labor, but I think they would have similar tastes in novels and I think Sonia's own eccentricities would mean that she isn't as off-put by his weird behavior.
I don't think he would be close with Mahiru, because as much as she's caring and doesn't want him hurt, she's also just very judgemental and I think her tendency to verbally attack people would negatively impact his recovery. I think they would get along, but until she learns how to get past her trauma with her dad and stop letting her friends commit crimes, I think it's at a respectful distance.
While Mikan and Nagito are MLM/WLW Hostility™ I do also think they're friends. They like to bitch at each other, but if anyone dares insult the other they Will Destroy Them. I have always thought of them as working quite closely together during the tragedy for whatever reason, it just seems right in my brain?
I also feel like people miss the wild potential of Nagito just adopting Monica. Like, he raises her from like 10 years old until she's a teenager (I'm assuming she's like 14-15 in the anime?), Monica finally gets someone to actually take care of her instead of abusing and abandoning her, and I'm supposed to believe that they just never speak again? Also Nagito saving and caring for this child after spending his childhood an orphan who was put into dangerous situations a lot is a really great parallel.
I like to think he and Akane do a lot of their recovery at the same time because they're both pretty wasted away by the time they wake up, and they bond little by little. They celebrate when one of them moves up a weight class, but Akane recovers faster so by the end Nagito has to remind her not to break his ribs when she hugs him in joy.
Nekomaru is very helpful in coaching him through his physical recovery due to understanding the limitations of a severe health condition and his experience as a team manager. There's definitely a lot of encouragement on Nekomaru's end because a lot of physical therapy can be embarrassing when things that theoretically should be easy aren't. Basically: Akane, Nekomaru, and Nagito all end up as unlikely gym buddies?
Those are just some of my thoughts and headcanons, absolutely take or leave any of that.

could you give us some misc c!niki or c!rainduo headcanons.. missing them hours
so true anon. here are a couple miscellaneous headcanons (from the silly to the sad)
c!niki headcanons:
this is kind of a worldbuilding headcanon but i hc that some players are born to parents while others are spawned out of nowhere? niki spawned in as a kid in perfect smp and along with the other parentless kids grew up in a kind of village-raising-the-children situation. that sense of community never left her no matter where she went
she's never been very good at self-soothing behaviours, even as a kid. baking is kind of the closest thing she has and even that requires a level of focus and precision that after manberg she doesn't always have
i think she and fundy tried to give each other home piercings (nose piercing for niki, earlobe piercing for fundy) with somewhat varied results. if not for manberg they also would have discovered the stick and poke
big on gardening
she's a very poor medic - she tried to take the lead on curing tubbo's firework wounds in pogtopia but doesn't have a great sense for medicine. she had to take a lot of advice from techno which at the time she found very frustrating, as she took a while to warm up to him
her favourite baked goods are strawberry related
she also has a nigh-supernatural sense for guessing what people's favourite baked goods are on vibes alone
i think she's typically a decent advice giver but she really struggles to comprehend poor mental health in another person and in herself - she takes it far more personally than she should :( if she was a better smarter friend she would be able to solve all mental illnesses ever. makes her feel useless when her friends are suffering, and then when her own mental health deteriorates she has zero tools to detect, understand or do anything about it
part of the poor blood circulation brigade (not only are her hands freezing in winter, they are so hot in summer !! )
c!rainduo headcanons:
they would 100% do subtle dorky shit like have matching socks i think. niki has definitely knitted them at least one pair. they own l'manberg flag socks
neither of them are particularly athletic compared to their peers but they're absolute fiends in like. skipping rope competitions
they play guitar and sing together!! wilbur is a pretty prolific songwriter and she was one of the few people he'd sit down with and they'd sit there and pluck out the notes while he reworked the lyrics
in the oooold (read: pre-l'manberg) days, wilbur used to play music and sing while niki baked. he stopped doing this in l'manberg because he got too busy with the presidency, and she was never quite able to talk him into spending an afternoon on it again
they spoke very rarely in pogtopia. wilbur tended to avoid niki because he struggled to comfortably reconcile showing off how far he'd fallen with how much he'd always held niki up on a pedestal and wanted to show off his best qualities to impress her. so he just kind of avoided her. niki was increasingly hurt by this (and his abandonment of her in the first place) so she didn't really seek him out - and she figured they would be able to sort things out after the war ended and they won l'manberg back, anyway.
wilbur used to insist on showering niki with gifts on her birthday! niki is the kind of homemade-gift-bursting-with-love gift giver
wilbur picked up smoking as a stress management habit during his presidency, but niki didn't know about it until pogtopia - she once saw him put a butt out on his wrist and she ripped him a new one in front of tommy and techno and it made the cavern unbearably awkward for like three days
niki and that damn coat. okay so wilbur gave her That Damn Coat in pogtopia before the war and they were this 👌 close to being so damn obnoxious about having matching fits if they weren't going through the horrors of tragedy at the time. niki kept it in new l'manberg - she wore it pretty frequently, but it freaked a lot of people out (the memories were too fresh...), so eventually she did in fact stop wearing it in public. after doomsday, she picked up wearing it again (under the excuse that it gets cold down in the underground city, which would be super convincing if it wasn't thin and weedy. and it's not like there's anyone around to judge her anymore, is there? it's like the world's most fucked up comfort object except it provides zero comfort whatsoever
when she joins the syndicate phil and techno give her a lovely matching cloak with the rest of them, because it gets so cold up in the arctic. niki gets the postcard from wilbur after their reunion saying that he's gone off to utah and he's not coming back and she eventually (finally) burns the coat.
these got sad. umm pre-l'manberg they co-invented a cocktail so cursed that after one night of partying it was subsequently banned from all events ever. legend says you can go up to a gas station attendant in utah and say the phrase "soul sand skittle-savoy affair" and he will immediately gag

The fact that I wrote my bachelors thesis about Jongwoo and how Moonjo broke him, how Jongwoos mental health spiraled through the plot and how the creators chose to show it to the audience via audio-visual storytelling (<3) which ENDED WITH ME getting broken down by the dramas complexity, it's many meta levels and Jongwoo my beloved unreliable narrator shenanigans nobody can decipher. In hindsight it was the worst drama to analyze while I was already burnt out, anxious and depressed af during a global pandemic, but simultaneously it also was the best drama for that theme because it indeed is one of the best displays and metaphors of mental illnesses.
Already at the time I was aware of the self irony, still had a lot of fun with picking everything apart. It is now one of my comfort shows lol... even though the thesis phase was horrible and didn't end well. My profs said I had some good points and methods. But in the end I couldn't finish uni so I never presented the work and never got their full feedback. (grade was mediokre bad imo because I couldn't finish spell checks and formalities at the end which is one of the most important parts of a scientific final paper unfortunately.... and my profs were salty that I used easier to access online sources more than old outdated books but hey I kind of mainly wrote that thing for myself not for the public 🤷‍♂️ ....)
Anyways, one thing I wanted to share from my analysis: I counted the times and situations Moonjo uses "Jagiya", generally as an indicator for when he directly manipulates Jongwoo, vs how Jongwoos behavior and mental health changes over time.
Just to understand the significance of "Jagiya": Moonjo uses it kind of as trigger word but also to get this emotional trust bond with Jongwoo (despite Jongwoo says he hates it, he still feels flattered at first). He always uses it when he wants Jongwoo to do something or to think a certain way. He almost just uses it when they are alone. When Jongwoos boss and girlfriend are present in the bar scene, it's even the first time Moonjo calls Jongwoo by his actual name. With Mrs. Eom they call him (room) 303
Tumblr media
(do not reupload or use without my permission!)
Well, and based on that I looked into how these scenes were shot and differentiating from each other. Like camera work, frames, colors, effects, sound, hard cut / soft cuts, transitions etc. IT WAS A LOT, way too much I didn't anticipate going into it. I only watched it once then, to keep the impression fresh, which is adviced for movie analysis of 'scene impressions' to not delude it by your own thoughts and knowledge. BUT THE THING IS... Strangers From Hell changes a lot when you watch it again!!! You find so much more details all of a sudden, when you know how it ends.

Hunter Sylvester and Harry Osborn's younger sister headcannons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- a/n
So some background info, Y/n Osborne is Harry's sister whose younger than him by a few years (harry was 20, and this takes place in the middle of TASM 2, AU where harry never got sent away he and peter are still best friends) he is super overprotective of her
Also for the sake of this, 'Metal Lords' takes in NYC
now on to the headcanons!
Let me just say this right off the bat, you both have mommy and daddy issues
clashing but similar aesthetics
Hunter with his heavy metal rockstar aesthetic
you with your more toned down but just as fun chaotic grunge aesthetic
Both of you kept your relationship a secret from your brother
after Norman died and Harry found out that he had the same illness and that it runs in the bloodline, Hunter was terrified that you might have it as well
you on the other hand were in a horrible mental state, Norman had been cold and distant but he was still your Dad
you were just recovering from his death and now you might lose your older brother too
While Harry was trying to find a cure you were mentally preparing yourself to say goodbye to him for the last time
the night after his diagnosis Harry came into your room to talk to you
He wanted there to be no more secrets between you two
You guys spent all night sharing secrets, he told you some embarrassing stories from college, and you finally told him about Hunter
he reacts a lot better than you expected, he asks you to bring Hunter around the next day so that he can meet him
Now Hunter has never really cared about the impression he left on most people (aside from you, Kevin, and his idols)
But he really tries because he knows how important Harry's approval is to you and he wants to make a good first impression
he subconsciously ends up emulating your style because he is so confused about what to wear, he doesn't think his usual band T-shirts and black cargo pants are not super appropriate for meeting your girlfriend's multi-billionaire brother
he settles on a pair of nice black pants, a slightly baggy band sweatshirt with a white collared shirt underneath
he also goes a little overbroad by wearing the two necklaces you gave him and only wearing your matching rings and the ones you gave him along with the earrings you gave him
Hunter was definitely not what Harry was expecting, he thought your boyfriend would be more like him or hell even Peter
but he eventually warms up to him when he sees just how happy he makes you, not before politely but not so subtlety threatening him
He even convinces Peter to play along and threaten Hunter
At the end of the whole ordeal, he approves
Now, saying that you spend time together would imply that you spend any time apart
You are each other's biggest supporters, always there at every event and function
most of the time is in little cafes, hidden record stores and tiny vintage bookstores are your everyday hangouts
you both go to midtown high, but only have 2 classes together
You guys are That Couple
you know, the couple that's always together
Kevin and Emily tease you all the time (like their any better)
If there was ever a villain attack, Hunter would throw himself in front of you like a human shield.
god forbid any paparazzi even try to harass you
Hunter would get into a fistfight right then and there
you guys are THE It couple of New York
but if Harry ever passed due to his illness, Hunter would constantly spend time (even more than he already does)
always comforting you 24/7
this always freaks him out even more as he thinks there a bigger chance that you also might have the same condition
and he really can't lose you
ever
he doesn't really bring it up the, because god knows that you need recovery time
he's at the funeral, holding you as you cry
you spend the next weeks staying with him
you don't think you can face that empty house now
not anymore
taging you just in case

Terry, Kreese, Johnny, what it means to be a Cobra Kai, 'villainous values' and the love of (evil) karate father for his karate son
I've been thinking about this moment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all, ouch.
But it also got me thinking....why does Kreese feel so strongly about Johnny?
And as much as his contempt for Lawrence is motivated by jealousy, Terry's inability to see why Kreese believes Johnny is his best student (and why he loves him more than Terry) says so much about the divide in the two men's philosophy, approach and the fundamental values that drive their actions.
(TL;DR: it's his guts and heart, not what's in his head)
Terry and John could not come from more different backgrounds. Kreese was working class and completely self-made. His mentally ill mother's suicide made him a social pariah back home. His motivations for joining the army seem to have been twofold: a way of bettering himself and a genuine sense of patriotism/purpose. I think we can infer he never went to college and he was field promoted to captain. Kreese is naturally courageous, in his best iteration someone who has no fear of death or getting hurt. In his ideal form this courage is rooted in protecting someone (ie when he got his ass kicked helping Betsy.) In its worst form he becomes domineering and controlling of his loved ones, justifying any number of deranged actions as in their best interests.
Terry, meanwhile, came from money and probably was only fighting in Vietnam because his father wanted to "toughen him up" (if he's rich he could have gotten out of it so this is an extrapolation but I think it fits his character.) He even outright tells Tory that he is different from Kreese in this respect: he didn't have to scrape his way through life, but he did learn to use every advantage available to him. He is both intelligent/a survivor and values loyalty even more than Kreese does—you see this in KK3 and in the flashback of Kreese saving his life. He expects that loyalty to be reciprocated (John disappearing on him for thirty years is an obvious betrayal, John caring more about Lawrence is the nail in the coffin.) He admires the qualities Kreese has he doesn't, while secretly chafing against his friend's condescension even as he longs for his attention and approval.
Tumblr media
Kreese is unpretentious, has never cared about Terry's money (and has been borderline too proud to take it since Terry was introduced as a character in KK3) while Silver is urbane, cosmopolitan in his outlook—comparatively "forward thinking," an ambitious, big picture guy. Kreese forms deep and personal connections with students that he has "gut" feelings about and sees himself in—as much as he sees Cobra Kai as his baby and legacy, he will only get emotional satisfaction from knowing that someone he personally loves is carrying it on (though he kicked Johnny out in S2, that was only for compromising what Kreese sees as the core 'principles' of CK, and he spent all of S3 trying to get Johnny to come back and S4 focused on grooming Johnny's son to do so in his stead.) For Terry what matters is the actual philosophy and its efficacy at helping weaklings channel their fear and turn it into power (though he's not beyond connecting with a student on a personal level, e.g. Kenny.) The "legacy" is the Cobra Kai "way", carried on by the ubiquitous nature of dominating a global tournament and making dojos, not any one surrogate son figure.
Kreese is a classic macho American archetype, unironically hanging American flags on the dojo walls and going off on political correctness/'snowflakism' while Silver is buying $500K samurai swords and enjoying stolen fine art before pimping merch on instagram. Silver has intellectual pretensions and business sense while Kreese's brain is rooted in animal cunning. These two are very different types of men and villains.
So...why is Johnny 'it' for Kreese but not Terry?
Tumblr media
In S3 Kreese tells Robby the story of when he knew Johnny was "the real deal." What impressed him was not that Johnny won a fight, but rather was willing to go all-in against someone way beyond his skill level. Terry is not wrong that Johnny is not the most intelligent character on this show by any stretch of the imagination, which is something that is central to his idea of what a CK student should be, but I don't necessarily think it's central to Kreese's.
Kreese admires guts more than brains, something he does not think Terry has ever or will ever possess.
Tumblr media
Kreese compared young Silver to Johnny in the prison scene, both scared and fearful—it's clear he views them both as "his", dependents that he "made", relationships his attitude towards has ranged from protective to condescending to controlling at various stages. But the difference is that Terry will always be a follower, a number two, whereas, at least in his own mind, Johnny is a true heir apparent, someone who he can project his own legacy onto.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He cares for Terry, in his own twisted way, but there's a fundamental lack of respect. Certainly he often treats Johnny like a child, but he's also his karate son that he believes sincerely is the best and who was "robbed" of his chance by Daniel in '84. Johnny is an extension of himself in his mind, someone who has the potential to carry on the legacy and philosophy he created, which is the thing he cares about most. He really, sincerely believes it helps children, that it helped Johnny.
By his own admission, he wanted Johnny to be better than him.
And he is—in spite of Kreese, not because of him.
Nothing exemplifies this more than the parallel of the S3 finale Vietnam and S5 finale fight. Contrast this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The loss of Betsy (the metaphoric shedding of his humanity) gave Kreese the motivation to let go of all moral questions ("No mercy!") and the strength to kill Captain Turner, whereas the hope of his family, his children and need to live the rest of his life protecting and caring for them—the most primal human urge, embracing his humanity—is what gives Johnny the strength to keep fighting against all odds, people with greater strength and technical ability than him.
Sound familiar?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Johnny has become the man Kreese might've been, he has the same core values, heart and guts, as the man still buried deep within him.
Tumblr media
At some primal, deep and subconscious level Kreese sees his own best self in Johnny, even if he doesn't understand that it was through rejecting the worst of what Kreese gave him—learning from his mentor's mistakes—that has made him a better man.
That's the tragic irony.
Well, that and the fact that Kreese can only get the emotional satisfaction of Johnny understanding what he tried to do in therapeutic hallucination form.

I had an idea for a priest!Hob and demon!Dream au that I just had to share. I was thinking about Catholic theology while watching a ghost hunting video that involved demons (as one does), and it got me thinking. So if hell is supposed to be the absence of god, and god is supposed to be essentially the personification of love, then wouldn't the best protection from demons would be to push your fear aside and choose to love and want the best for them? Which this train of thought of course led me to dreamling.
So basically Hob is a preist who for some reason, has recently been dealing with random supernatural occurrences. Like random knocks, sometimes he wakes up with scratches, sometimes he hears footsteps in the hallway, once he even saw a shadow figure. Now to start he's pretty content to deny that anything is happening. Around the same time, this impossibly beautiful man starts hanging around I guess the church, though he never actually enters the sanctuary. Now Hob is completely baffled by this man because he seems to know theology pretty well but is unashamedly flirting with Hob and Hob is confused cause well he's a priest. This man, Hob soon learns his name is Dream, is also very scornful of religion and it's not too long before Hob gets the distinct impression that Dream is trying to get Hob to sleep with him and trying to lead Hob astray. At first Hob is a bit angry and confronts Dream about it. Dream gets defensive and says something about that Hob's god won't him from the demon that's been haunting him. Hob goes pale. He never told anyone that there'd been anything supernatural, because he seemed to be the only one experiencing anything. So he thought that he must be imagining things. How could Dream know. Dream realizes that he fucked up and leaves.
It takes some time for Hob to process the whole thing but after lots of thinking and maybe some praying cause wtf he's pretty sure the pretty man who's been flirting with him is an actual demon, he calms down a bit. Hob does a mental run through of every demonic incident that he's had since Dream started hanging around, he also thinks about his interactions with Dream. Dream just seemed so intelligent and funny. He was prone to lashing out and Hob had witnessed him say cruel things before, but Hob had been sure that there's more to him than that. After all, most cruelty comes from pain. But after thinking everything through, Hob is pretty sure that Dream didn't want to hurt him. And Hob comes to a similar conclusion as I did and that the best thing to protect yourself from a demon or even to heal the demon is to love them.
So the next time Dream shows up, Hob welcomes him with open arms and invites him for dinner at his house. Dream is very confused. Over the next few months, Dream lashes out a lot in ways that he didn't before Hob started being extra kind to him. Hob is very patient, he never forces Dream to go anywhere or do anything doesn't want to and never invites him to mass like he might have before because well, Dream's a demon. Eventually Dream accepts that apparently he has a friend who's a preist now. Which is not really something demons are supposed to do, but then again, Lucifer became the devil cause he rebelled and broke the rules, so why should Dream listen to the rules here?
About a year or so into this new arrangement, about a year and a half after they met, Dream starts to change visibly. He's fallen rather ill and is weaker than he ever was, but at the same time was also visibly happier. Dream, in one of the rare times that he talked about his emotions, confided in Hob that he was having more and more trouble returning to hell and was less and less welcomed there by other demons. Hob for his part was struggling with his chosen path in life. The stress of running a church was getting to him and most of the time he'd rather be with his friend who he had offered his home to if he didn't want to go back to hell (Dream wouldn't admit it but he didn't really want to go back). Hob was also rather frustrated with the way the Catholic church was run at times, as much as he believed in the theology behind it, there were lots of things, such as the church's stance on trans people and abortion, that he just couldn't stand anymore. He also more or less had a crush on his demon friend.
It becomes clear soon enough that Dream is losing some of his demonic abilities. Like he can't change his appearance as easily as he used to, now he's stuck between his demon form and his human form that he's had trouble alternating between (maybe also his cat form too cause imagine him stuck as meowpheus). But at the same time, he's not as weak anymore, he's in less pain than he became a demon, and the biggest difference is that he's happier. Of course he does have an existential crisis because of the whole thing and is not sure why it's happening. Hob, who by this time had basically decided that he was going to stop being a priest explains his theory to Dream. Dream being Dream of course responds with something along the lines of "I was not made to be loved" and Hob is like, "I don't care, I love you anyway" and kisses him right then and there. When Hob has to breathe, Dream admits that he loves Hob too and that he shouldn't be able to and it's against his nature and he can't change and YET he does love Hob and he has changed.
Hob soon formally quits being a priest and Dream becomes less and less demonic as time goes on (except when they have sex, Hob is certain that Dream still is part demon but only when they're having sex) and he and Dream run away together happily ever after.
Anyway, enjoy this random idea that popped into my head today
I'm getting Good Omens vibes, which is probably because the season 2 trailer arrived today! But also because I love the idea of a domesticated demon. 10/10, great trope. Especially if the demon still has a demon form. With a lovely eldritch tongue.
Also: Hob rejecting the Catholic Church and choosing love and worship and belief on his own terms? Fantastic, sexy, I love it. Thank you so much for sending this, it's a great addition to the demon!Dream saga!

AND ON THAT NOTE
trust me when i say that i love the later seasons. but one thing i will forever be salty about in the later seasons is how much they changed Sam and Lucifer's dynamic and totally got rid of their chemistry.
now, it happens after Hallucifer, because the (unfortunately) short-lived Hallucifer arc was beautiful, no notes (except that it should have lasted the rest of the show so that Sam could struggle with and learn to cope with metaphorical mental illness, just as he did in his Psychic Arc, instead of just being magically cured by Cas transferring Hallucifer to himself but...anyways).
they still had their chemistry. unlike the few glimpses we saw of Dean's Hell trauma before it was sidelined, we actually got to see Sam's trauma of the Cage and of Lucifer. like fuck we got to see Sam's hallucination of Lucifer actually trying to gaslight Sam into thinking that he was still in the Cage, confirming Lucifer's ability to create illusions of reality, which he almost definitely used to torment Sam in the Cage...basically, we got way more than just crumbs with Hallucifer.
but after that? it's like the Cage never even happened. Lucifer loses all interest in Sam, except for when he needs to use him as a means to an end (another vessel to escape the Cage, a way to get Jack back on his side), and the chemistry is pretty much gone. the only charged moments they have is Sam's vision of Lucifer touching his face and Lucifer reviving Sam in the cave.
other than that, it's like they don't have 200 years of history with each other from the Cage, and like Lucifer is just so bored of Sam that he'd rather kill him quick and easy than draw things out (except for that lame ass church scene with the whole 'one of you gets out alive'...which i have SO many things to bitch about with). the 'true vessel' thing is no longer relevant, and there's apparently no interest in even getting back at Sam for fucking trapping him in the Cage or tricking Lucifer again in Apocalypse World.
sure, you could argue that this is just part of Lucifer's character (which the later seasons pretty much ruined, imo). he's a divine entity, he lies to get what he wants (implying the "I will never lie to you, Sam" is also a lie), he only cares about himself, and humans are just insignificant little ants to him, Sam included. you can argue that once he realizes Sam won't do what he wants (after some really weak manipulation attempts in The Cage Part 2), Sam is inconsequential to him, and once he has a means of staying in Nick without the body getting destroyed, the whole 'true vessel' thing doesn't matter.
BUT DOES THAT MAKE FOR AN INTERESTING STORY???
i am a big Samifer fan and i acknowledge my bias. but come on. what's more interesting: a typical 'villain doesn't care about anyone but himself' or a villain who does care about other things. a villain who hates humanity out of jealousy and pride and all the things people say about him, but who can't help being fascinated and impressed by one human in particular -- who, in the villain's eyes, isn't even human, isn't even his own man, because he was destined to be his vessel, to be his in every single way. destined for greatness, just like Lucifer was, and just as hated and shamed and misunderstood as Lucifer felt.
the Sam/Lucifer parallels were fucking spot on and then they were just abandoned. Lucifer stopped being an interesting character and was reduced to his Daddy Issues + hatred for humanity. he made no effort to really take advantage of Cas as his vessel (for someone who's supposed to be good at manipulation), his whole Vincent arc was boring (the best scene was getting that girl to carve into herself imo), and his plan use his son to magic-fix his issues could have been a lot more interesting if he had targeted Sam from the beginning*, when he could have used Dean's hostility to his advantage and used the fucking 200 years of intimate knowledge he surely has on Sam to try and manipulate him -- or at least use him as leverage when the manipulation didn't pan out.
*"but Lucifer wasn't around to--" I KNOW. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN!
all of this isn't to say that i know anything about writing a show or what constraints/circumstances were involved, i'm just saying that taking this angle instead would have been way more interesting and compelling to me. i wouldn't have watched through every late season Lucifer scene going :/ seriously??
but i know it's also a side effect of getting invested in a character and being inevitably disappointed when they're not written exactly how u want, so...maybe it's not that deep and i'm just being bitchy.
