My answers are so long, so I am putting this under the cut @wonderwolfballoon! Also I just noticed your Daniel icon I SWEAR I’M NOT DRAGGING HIM TO BE MEAN!!!

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?* My biggest IDGI ships for CK are probably Elimetri or Kiaz. I’m not here to yuck other people’s yums or anything, but I do think there is something to the idea that Migueli isn’t popular because it’s a ship predicated on mutual respect for one another. Kiaz has the obvious enemies to lovers vibe and I just generally don’t sail those ships. Elimetri has... its problems, IMO, most especially around the idea that Demetri has to like... save Hawk from himself? Idk. I just like romances that I feel are based on love and mutual respect and not ...tropes.   I am also not a Lawrusso shipper although I have a lot of those on my dash and you all are great! Again, not yucking yums! Daniel just makes me want to head butt him too much to pair him romantically with anyone 😂 I don’t even want his wife with him. He needs to self reflect~   4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*   I once saw someone ship Amanda and Anoush and I noped out of that so fucking fast I almost tripped over myself. I’m not sure if they’re popular. I just think some people feel the need to get Amanda out of the way to sail their ship and stuck her with Anoush which... no. Just no. Let Amanda be a messy single queen with a martini hobby, thanks!   5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*   Not in CK. I’m lucky because I pretty much stick to my little Migueli bubble and I’m okay with that? Lmao lord knows the Squad on my dash is all about the DISCOURSE™️ so idk if I just don’t feel the need to get sucked into the wider ship wars because we have good healthy debates, but so far, so good.   6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?*   I never hated it... I just didn’t have many feelings on shipping with this show in general at first. Then I was in the CK tag one day and I saw Migueli fan art. Then I discovered @afurioushawk‘s falconry series and it was all over for me after that! So fandom DID make me love a ship, just not one I hated.

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why? Oh boy. How much time do you have? In some instances, it’s a good thing season 3 happened because otherwise, this would be a multi-page essay on the problems with race and class privilege as it pertains to Sam LaRusso and just some... generally not nice comments about Demetri that I’m conflicted about because I’m not sure if the writers are intentionally trying to write him a specific way and it’s just not translating to me or what. But season 3 revamped both of their images with me a lot. I’m way more flexible in terms of Demetri, but lmao I was the number one Sam LaRusso hater for a minute there (or maybe number 2, I can think of at least 1 other person who was in that boat with me back in like... August/September, but I won’t call them out because I don’t want them to get hate...) However, I have grown a bit in my opinions of Sam, and even though I still think she’s responsible for a lot of shit she NEVER gets held accountable for, I also think that’s a reflection of the adults around her too, and this includes my otherwise unproblematic queen, Amanda.

But honestly, my most hated character (other than the obvious villain that is Kreese) is Daniel. No matter how handsome Ralph Macchio looks in cable-knits, because Daniel has always been a sanctimonious, shit starting drama king and I say that about KK Daniel too. I’m not saying Daniel was the ~true villain~ or anything, or that Johnny was innocent -- I can only drink so much Red and Yellow Kool-Aid -- but Daniel’s always been annoying to me as a protagonist, and turning him into a smarmy wealthy car salesman who is also a class traitor did not do him any favors in my book. I will say, I also like Daniel more in season 3 than I have in previous season, but since he is the adult, I will be mad at him longer than I will be at the kids, ya feel?

10. Most disliked arc? Why?   Johnny’s entire season 3 storyline. The sheer level of REGRESSION at every turn drives me bonkers. It’s like watching him go through all of the stumbling blocks of season 1 all over again, but without the “he’s learning! He’s going to make mistakes!” free pass that I was willing to give him the first time around. He regularly jeopardizes Miguel’s recovery and it’s played for laughs. He fucks up on every level with Robby. He spends most of his time running away when things get hard or too real. He drops the ball completely with Hawk, and like, not to put too fine a point on it, but a lot of Hawk’s issues are because Johnny put Hawk on this ‘flip the script and be a badass’ path and then offered him no guidance for how to walk that path and instead left him in the hands of Kreese. And then he has the nerve to go to Hawk and basically be like “I made you what you are!” lmao yeah Johnny, you sure did, that’s why he’s breaking peoples arms, hoss. And then all of the nonsense with Ali and Carmen, like... if you were planning on teasing KK fans with Ali and him getting back together, why write her as married in the first place? Why even tease the idea of Carmen and Johnny until after you were sure what you were going to do with Ali as a character? Instead, they do what they did in season 3 and it makes him look like a colossal jerk. So yeah. Literally every choice they made with Johnny this season, I hated.

14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom? People who hate Tory are not valid, sorry not sorry.

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change? I would have kept Miguel entirely out of Tory and Sam’s beef. Or at least not directly inserted him into it like he was with the kiss. I know the writers thought it was necessary to push Tory to the point of inciting a fight at school, but I am just so exhausted over girls being unable to fight about anything but boys. Also I would bring Aisha back.

20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?   I am probably biased, but I still maintain it’s Migueli. Look, Miguel stood up to Kyler for Eli and Demetri both. Hawk joined CK because he saw what it could do for some skinny nerd who was getting his ass kicked. And he took to CK, really took to it! Even flourished before he started getting mixed messages. And he and Miguel were pretty much inseparable after that. They coordinated their wardrobes ffs. Hawk dubbed him El Serpiente and no one else calls him that — it’s Hawk’s nickname for him. Miguel confides in Hawk only secondary to Johnny, who is like a father to him. The entire Coyote Creek exchange shows they can fight and disagree but... well, to use the cliche, they don’t go to bed angry, you know? They’re square the very next day. Hawk is the first person at Miguel’s side when he gets kicked over the balcony and the LOOK he gives the second floor where Robby is? That boy is out for blood immediately to avenge Miguel. So much of his s3 behavior is fueled by that need for vengeance because MD is wholly responsible for what happened to Miguel. And Miguel is so confused and betrayed by Hawk’s shift in behavior, and yet still holds out hope that Hawk will see through Kreese’s BS and come with him to The Dojo I Refuse to Name. And when Hawk does make that deflection finally, he shows up at MD with Miguel. There’s so much more that I know I’m missing but whether someone ships them or not, that is a tried and true love and respect for one another, a willingness to fight for and defend one another that you don’t often see in TV friendships... or even in most tv relationships. And I just think that’s the best ❤️

22. Popular character you hate?   Daniel, hands down. I mean... I don’t even necessarily hate Daniel, you know? I just think it’s really, pardon the pun, rich that a guy of immense wealth and privilege can’t get a therapist or turn to his far too patient wife for help with his existential crisis over his high school bully opening up a karate dojo to make some money and help a kid who is getting the crap kicked out of him. I get that Daniel’s narrative is necessary for the rivalry, but it does nothing to make him sympathetic as a character.

23. Unpopular character you love?   Tory, definitely! Everyone hates her and then there’s me and the Squad over here banging away on our Coors Banquet cans yelling TORY RIGHTS! Seriously she catches so much flack for a teenage girl who is... the sole income provider for her family? At 17? While caring for a sick mom and a little brother? And fending off a creepy landlord? Tory has it so rough and then she meets a cool girl at her dojo who asks her to hang out at some fancy ass country club which is probably the nicest place Tory has ever been in, and then she gets talked down to and accused of being a thief and has another girl lay hands on her, only to find out that same girl is her new boyfriend’s ex and... ugh. I HATE that Tory gets shit all over when Tory and Sam wouldn’t even have beef if Sam had apologized to Tory as she SHOULD have. Tory isn’t innocent, but damn, I’d be pressed too.   My other unpopular character I love? Nathaniel. Seriously that kid is THE best. He’s a literal child but is out there like I WILL FUCK YOU UP, even though he’s MD. Honestly, his Cobra Kai energy is so ferocious I won’t be surprised if he moves back to CK eventually. Anyway, I love him. 

26. Most shippable character?   Miguel, hands down. It’s because he’s so affable and sweet overall. And because his hair is so fluffy and pettable that no one can resist touching it. I like to imagine that one day he and Hawk are talking about their hair and Hawk makes a joke about how Miguel’s mane is getting so long that it’s going to be bigger than his own, and then he reaches out to ruffle it and internally has a bisexual meltdown because oh no IT’S SO SOFT AND NICE. But uh... anyway, yes. Definitely Miguel.

I’m chill with male and female matchups!! I’m about five feet tall, have fair skin, and blue-grey eyes. I have fairly long wavy hair that reaches by hips, but I’m growing it out to be much longer! I prefer comfy clothes that keep my skin covered as I’m kinda self conscious. I like really any pastel colors, particularly blue and pink. I’m female and use she/her pronouns!

I’m kinda quiet and introverted, but I do have moments where I break out of that shell around my close friends. But I am often tired out after spending long amounts of time with people face to face (not so much anymore because of what’s going on rn) to a point where I’m physically exhausted. But I love making people laugh with stupid jokes and pictures!! I really like doing research and learning about new things. I get frustrated really easily and wind up in tears because of it, on top of being really emotional and sensitive. I am a big fat horse person, and always have been. I’m really creative and spend most of my time working on something within the fantasy-genre, whether r be a fic or an OC. Kinda hopelessly romantic, even though I’m super inexperienced :clown: I’m a big sucker for it and by no means am I ashamed. wearing comfier and longer clothing really helps in the zora domain too since it's so damp and usually kind of cold

if you're ever around other people and your social battery starts to dwindle, mipha is pretty in-tune with reading body language and will either coax you into something quieter or make up an excuse to get you away and relaxing

she loves your hair and constantly wants to play with it and learn different hairstyles that would make you look pretty aw

mipha's calm nature would keep you grounded i think and idk i feel like would just compliment you :)

if you get stumped about something you're researching about, say, you can't figure out where to find a certain plant in hyrule and you need to help purah with research, your frustration can usually get to the better of you

you sometimes hole yourself up and push yourself to figure things out, but mipha can usually get through your walls and help you back to reality

she'll talk you through your frustrations and get you to breathe and organize yourself so things are a bit easier

if you want her to, she'll even help you with your search for whatever you're stumped on!

you can break tension with a little joke you insert into the conversation, and mipha really appreciates that about you because she often clams up (no pun intended lol) when things get tense

like if there's a particular conversation between her and her father that went awry regarding her safety or something, you can lighten the mood of the room substantially with a small insert

you really try your best with her own frustrations as well

during the calamity, she fought to keep you by her side and under her protection

you also aided in the research portion of dealing with the calamity, so you were a valuable asset alongside robbie and purah

mipha would no doubt lay down her life for you, and she treasures you for all you're worth (which is a lot!)

she was never really a horse person herself, but she adored the way that you gushed about horses and their care as well as stories you had about your experiences with them

often she would accompany you to the nearest stable so that you could see the horses and get to ride them around

she knew that that was a safe space for you that you loved, so if you ever felt down or upset she would make a point to go to a stable and let you hang around it for a day

don't even get me started on your adoration for the dogs at the stables because the way you act toward them just makes mipha's little heart go brrrr

mipha loves you inside and out and would never trade you for the world! (because you're her world hehe)

Why I like Them/Why I don’t

Her introduction is her punching Jerome in the face, how can someone not love her, omg.

I mean, we know nothing about her which maybe makes it harder to relate to her but I just think it makes her more intriguing. Like, what about her parents? Her Father apparently left when she was little, but what about her Mum?? When did she meet Jeremiah? Why the fuck did she pledge her life to him? Please, she’s a badass, why is she hanging around with him???

(Also where the fuck did she learn to fight, did she teach herself? Was she doing some kind of martial arts? Was she trained as a spy or something?? What is her past?????)

And then we have her going from a proxy to being Harley and like....once again, there’s no explanation as to why. I just enjoy thinking scenarios for her, wondering why she turned out the way she did and I am going through her tag daily, looking for some Ecco centric stuff - or even Eccomiah stuff that focuses on her a little (but she’s part of the female characters who get sidelined for Wayleska, just like Selina, which...I ship too! It’s nice! But sometimes I wanna have her tagged in a fic where she actually has a role aside from being mentioned once).

(Also I am a hypocrite and I hate when Selina is being pushed aside or forgotten when other Bruce ships come to play but I have some Selina/Jeremiah wips where I’m like ‘Bruce who????’ ahkdhaskjd, sue me for loving girls).

Also, Ecco is simply adorable and I saw her shake her head to rattle the bullet inside it and was like: Baby

(If Jeremiah won’t treat her right, I definitely will).

Favourite Episode/Favourite Season

She has so little episodes where she features, but she’s a delight in every scene she features in.

Favourite Season would probably be Season 5 because she has a bigger portion of screentime there and she’s Harley instead of Proxy or Mummer and while both of those personas are awesome (and fear-inducing), she’s a lot of fun crazy and unhinged.

Favourite Episode is Ace Chemicals, I’d say. Not that she has a big role in it (that would probably the scene where she fights Selina) but she’s interacting with Jervis there and that scene not only is my header but also made me ship them (and caters to my bisexuality alsjsadnln).

Also I have a fanfic in the works based on that scene because you cannot tell me that Jervis isn’t all heart-eyes over her.

(In my heart, every single villain adores Ecco and hates Jeremiah and they put up with him for her - but they’re all just quietly waiting for her to leave him lmao, they got the chocolate and roses ready, just in case).

Favourite Line

The only Ecco lines I have in my head are ‘Our cover is blownski’ and ‘She got me, Daddy’ and the last one made me fucking nauseous to listen to within the circumstances (I mean, deep fry Jeremiah? Really? No.) so I don’t have a favourite line I think.

But she also doesn’t talk much ashkhks, she either doesn’t talk at all as the mummer or let’s Jeremiah monologue.

(She’s probably more of a ‘Do it’ instead of talking about it girl and I stan her).

Ecco is very much shippable with everyone and I’d read anything about her (pls I’m desperate).

(Also she deserves to be treated like a queen by someone to make up for the awful way Miah treats her in canon, so am I gleefully imagining scenarios of her leaving him and finding someone who treats her right while he’s cursing everything and feels miserable? Maybe).

All the girls! Like Ecco and Ivy and Bridgit having meetups where Ivy and Bridgit keep telling her to dump her trash boyfriend askhjafbska

(But tbh, I can see every duo I’ve listed as an OTP as a Brotp too and vice versa. I mean...., you should like your spouse as a friend too askdkjdbkb).

Idk why, but I can’t really warm up to Ivy/Ecco (which is basically Harley/Ivy), but maybe that’s precisely because it would be like Harley/Ivy and I’m not really a fan of those two.

(I also have to admit that I enjoy Ecco a lot more than Margot Robbie’s version of Harley Quinn).

Headcanon

Umm...idk? I kinda thought about her being russian? But I think that’s quite a popular thought, I saw some people mention it before!

My headcanons usually change to adapt the current au I am thinking about but a hc I keep in most of them is that Ecco was pretty straight to the point before she became Harley and that she isn’t one for social cues. She’s blunt.

(Which for me mostly means that Jeremiah pre-spray tried to flirt with her and she just. Didn’t respond to any of it. Not because she isn’t interested but because she doesn’t think much about Miah offering her things like sleeping in the guest bedroom. Makes sense, he works late and she’s within reach in case he needs anything, while he overthinks everything and basically offered her to move in with him lmao).

Unpopular Opionion

Idk if that’s unpopular but she’s a really good Harley Quinn version (I think all their villain versions are very good? Like, they also have the best joker version(s), Gotham knows how to entertain me).

A wish

Please, whoever’s in charge, drop what the writers would’ve done with her if Gotham wouldn’t have been cancelled, I am curious.

Was she meant to die and be replaced at one point to show how Miah is actually looking for the ‘finished’ Harley version, like it’s alluded to in the finale? If she’s not his forever companion, would she have betrayed him at some point? Or if she is supposed to be Harley, would she have teamed up with Ivy at some point?

Would we have gotten more scenes of her interacting with other villains? Would we have seen a bit more of her past or maybe a flashback scene of the shooting?

(I don’t think so, they probably would’ve kept her an insignificant side character but an enby can dream).

Also, if I’m already wishing, someone release the cut scenes involving her.

Whelp, it's the first full day of the time change, I'm drunk, Louis’s gone full sbb with tonight’s shirt, Robbie's just gone, Simon’s coming down from last night’s coke binge, and Lilo’s coming for my ass, so let's just cut to the chase on episode 20, shall we??? I’ll stop tagging poor @newleafover and@justlarried every single week because they're, like, YEAH, OKAY, JEN, WE FUCKING GET IT, lmao, but for everyone else who isn’t watching, come tell me why you aren’t because I’m baffled. If you love Louis, this is like a mainline drug hit straight to your heart; if you hate Simon, this is like a mainline drug hit straight to your heart. Simon’s a parody of his former self (he literally copies everything Louis does at this point, only terribly), and Louis literally owns this show, so do you have some sort of hatred for Dermot (if so, fuck off/do NOT interact)? I mean, look at this minx:

If you’re busy, I get it, but if not, educate me (privately or on anon) because I'm curious. I can’t track Simon’s decline linearly from previous years (he’s as irrelevant to me then as he is now), but here in front of us all, exhibiting the “duality of palpable envy and fake closeness” as @horsegirlharry puts it, the entire spectacle is FASCINATING, especially if you love Louis. Anyway, tonight is mostly filler, but just like leftover Halloween candy, we can keep on snacking until the next holiday, so shall we?

The sound was shitty last night for two (2) people (who, I might add, weren’t all that great regardless), so the fake judging was held off until tonight, which means we have to watch all of these performances AGAIN, and I’m drunk and I love you, so that’s a no from me.

Nile Rodgers is here for Robbie, and Simon stands up when he’s introduced to pretend that he isn’t a racist, but as usual, his read on the rest of the room is wrong, so it’s just as pathetic as anything else he normally does (I’d say take a sip every time he looks to Louis for guidance, but you’d be trashed at the 20-minute mark, so you’re welcome).

GOD, I hate Jimmy A so much, and me as both Louis’s facial tics when he has to applaud him (which, huh, line up exactly with how he looks when Simon calls him his buddy) and Dermot when he does this awkward side grab instead of his normal hug (Dermot’s like the cat who hisses at shitty people):

Liam is introduced as the X Factor’s very own, and really? REALLY? Because wow, he’s so much more than that, but I’m in the crowd screaming so loudly for Liam that it only serves to make Jimmy A’s performance seem extra stupid (tl/dr, he kills it):

If I were a giffer, I’d capture Dermot’s flirty leg kick as he says hello to Liam’s team, while Liam waves first to Louis and then to Nile, and godddd, I would kill a man to know what these three talked about in Ihbeetha. Somewhat related: I like learning that Dermot’s fave is Dalton (same), but come on Liam, Brendan??? Whut.

Time for the ridiculously fake final judging, and me as Dermot saying good luck to everyone while looking directly at Louis’s team. Even the editors make it clear for stupid people, I mean, choose your mentor:

FOR FUCKING ONCE, both Ayda and Louis’s teams are safe, so they share a ~moment that I can’t properly convey in full but that warmed my cold, dead heart to its very core:

And apparently, there is a god, so the shitty boy band is immediately out, woo hoo! My highlight is Dermot saying, “Guys, it is so, so difficult to come in to this show and get together as a group and try and gel in the time you've had,” and meanwhile all of us been knew that the biggest band in history actually did it, but let’s cut to Louis’s reaction when one of them says that it’s not the end for them (spoiler: it is):

The final sing off is Acacia and Aaliyah vs. Molly, which, why? I get Molly, but A&A only get stronger week by week, and yet Danny’s still hanging on?? God, is this show racist. Anyway, I love that Louis’s the only one tracking A&A while they work the entire room, and how Dermot telegraphs Molly’s impending loss by introducing her with a somber, “Singing in what could be for the final time on the X Factor,” yep, WE GOT IT.

To nobody’s surprise (if they can track an edit), Molly’s out, and Simon tries to pretend that he’s Louis by taking responsibility for her shitty song choices (as he should because he IS responsible), but it’s very flat and insincere…her ouster is the only time that he’s actually physically near her (he never attended rehearsals, compared with comrade Louis’s who seemingly tirelessly canvased the rest of the house). In the flattest monotone, Simon announces, “I demahnd a recount,” and Dermot says, “Yeah, that’s not gonna happen,” as he tries to flood Molly with the physical reassurances she needs via hugs (Simon tries to chat with her in the background like Louis did with Armstrong a few weeks back, but no, it’s so off, fail):

Robbie’s Awakening Part 7

(Crap I think it’s part seven. I’ll check after posting lmao. I can’t believe we’re on part seven now. I thought I was only going to post one part and no one was going to like it but now everyone loves it and it makes me so happy! Anyway, enough me, the fic):

Marvin knew it’s good that Robbie is remembering things, even if the memories aren’t with him. And he knows he shouldn’t be growing jealous of Chase, but he can’t help it. He has been working with Robbie for three days now, trying to say things that they used to speak of together. Anything to trigger his memory. And then Chase comes in for five seconds, says five words, and Robbie is remembering so many things they had done.

He leads the zombie to the car, trying his best to get over his ridiculous jealousy. Robbie remembering things with Chase could lead to him remembering the things he did with Marvin. He helps Robbie into the back seat this time and Henrik climbs in after, needing to reattach the arm.

Chase takes the driver’s seat before he could and so he hops into the passenger’s seat. As they pull out of the driveway he glances into the backseat to check up on Robbie and Henrik.

The doctor had pulled out the medical needle and thread once more and Marvin begins to wonder if that’d be enough. Then he pulls out a miniature and medical staple gun as well and the magician has to look away because he has such a light stomach. These past few days have been hard on him with the eating of flesh, body parts falling off and all of these medical procedures.

For Robbie, however, he can push those weakness aside.

It takes them about thirty minutes to get to Chase’s house. These minutes are filled with Chase rambling about how wonderful his kids are and how much Robbie will love them again. Also Robbie attempting to speak but failing every time and Henrik chuckling at the attempts. Marvin stays silent, listening to Robbie’s attempts with a small smile.

They eventually pull into Chase’s driveway and Marvin gets out to help Robbie out. The zombie stumbles a moment and he graces himself to catch him but Robbie catches himself with one of those stereotypical zombie groans(like in minecraft) and begins to sniff at the air. Marvin half wonders why he does that but then he remembers it’s probably his way of seeing. At least, he guesses that.

Henrik steps out of the car and moves to the front seat, bidding everyone goodbye before driving back for Jack’s home. Anti would be getting there soon.

Marvin glances over at Chase’s house and is impressed. He’d actually never been here before. Chase normally brought his kids to Jack’s and didn’t like people coming to his own home. Probably because of Anti, which is totally understandable. That’s the exact reason why Marvin hasn’t told anyone of his secret house in the countryside he uses as an escape and place to create new potions and such. It’s small, but it works.

Chase’s house is one that is in a row of connected houses, stairs leading to the door with a small space for both his car and a tiny area for a flower bed and grass. It’s a light brown color and it’s actually quite cute.

Marvin grabs Robbie’s hand and this seems to scare the zombie a moment before the hold is returned and he can’t help but smile. At least Robbie still seems to trust him and feel most comfortable around him. He should be staying just because of these two facts, not just because he knows how to “control” him. Which is true, to an extent.

They reach the door and as soon as Chase turns the key in the lock it flies open and three kids coming running out, flinging themselves on Chase. “Dad!” They cry in unison, not noticing the two visitors.

Robbie’s muscles tighten and his nostrils are smelling at the air heavily and saliva is dropping in his mouth. Marvin readjusts his hold on the zombie and makes sure it’s tight enough to hold him back because he’s always like this around new people, it seems. Even if he doesn’t want to be. Maybe it’s the new scent of flesh or maybe it’s because he feels the need to be defensive. Either way, Marvin knows he can’t let Robbie especially attack the kids.

Chase pulls away a moment later and motions to the two visitors. “Kids, this is Marvin and Robbie. They’ll be staying with us for a while,” he informed. “Please introduce yourselves… but don’t get too close to Robbie.”

It’s a necessary precaution Marvin is glad Chase is setting.

The tallest of the three kids steps forward first, a large grin on his face. His hair is also dyed a shade of green and it falls a little bit into his face. “Hi! I’m CJ!” He introduces and reaches a hand out. Marvin smiles in return and takes it with his free hand.

“I’m Marvin,” he said in return. He then motions to the zombie he has to hold. “And this is Robbie.”

“He looks kind of funny,” CJ remarked and chuckles when Chase tries to smack the back of his head, but he ducks just in time. “He does! He’s got purple hair!”

“You’ve got green hair!” the little girl behind Chase points out and CJ runs at her and she runs off with a loud laugh.

The remaining child watches them run off before he shrugs and looks up at Marvin, crossing his arms over his chest. “I’m Steve,” he informed and Marvin has to admit that for a young child he sounds deadly serious. “The girl that just ran off is my idiot sister named Cindy.”

“I’m not an idiot!” Cindy called from the other side of the driveway before letting out an “oof” when CJ tackles her to the ground.

“Though, CJ does have a point,” Steve continued speaking before Marvin could say anything. “He does have a different appearance than the average person.”

Marvin sighs heavily. Yes, these are children, but their remarks about Robbie are still getting to him. In fact, he can tell that they may even be bothering the zombie. His eyes are locked on the ground and his head is more lowered than usual, shoulders more hunched.

“He looks fine,” Marvin told Steve, moving the hand from Robbie’s hand to wrap his arm around the zombie’s shoulders, pulling him in closer. Robbie glances up at him, or, he would if he weren’t blind, but doesn’t push or pull away. In fact, he seems to lean into Marvin like he enjoys the half hug. “People can look different from the “average”. I do, your dad does, no offense Chase.”

“Nah, dude, I agree,” Chase said dismissively before looking from Steve to CJ, who is now being repeatedly punched by Cindy. “CJ! Come here!” Once the boy has run over to them Chase places his hands on his hips and gets a stern look on his face. Marvin has to stop himself from snorting because Chase is “being a dad”. “You and Steve should know better than to rudely remark on someone’s appearance. Now, say sorry to Robbie.”

CJ pulls a face but slowly turns to face said zombie, kicking at the ground like the ten year old he is. “I’m sorry, Robbie, that was mean of me,” he said.

“Yeah, what he said,” Steve agreed and when Chase sends him a glare he sighs heavily and tries again, “I’m sorry, Robbie.”

Robbie’s ears twitch and so Marvin knows he heard the apologies, he just doesn’t know if he actually understood. “He accepts your apologies,” Marvin said for the zombie, not wanting to strain him too badly with speaking. He always seems to have such trouble doing it.

“Now, let’s go inside,” Chase said and straightens his back, stepping inside, his kids following behind him much like ducklings follow after their mother. “Cindy, could you show them where they’ll be staying?”

“The couch?” Cindy quipped and giggles at the teasing look Chase sends her over his shoulder. She hops onto the first step of a flight of stairs leading upwards, holding onto the bulb at the top of a small pillar connected with the rest of the railing. “Come on, the guest room is upstairs!”

“I’ll start to make dinner,” Chase informs and pauses when he hears Robbie let out a loud and long grunt of hunger. He meets Marvin’s eyes who presses his lips together in a thin line. “We’ll take Robbie to eat later today.”

Marvin once more helps Robbie up the stairs, waiting on each step for the zombie patiently. He is getting much better at going up and down stairs, but he is still quite slow. Marvin never forces him to go more quickly, however, because he can already hear his bones creaking through his flesh with the speed he’s going now.

The guest room that Cindy takes them to is at the end of a hallway at the top of the stairs. Of course it is on the opposite side of the hall that they stand at now. It’s a reasonably sized room with a single and large bed tucked in one corner and a small dresser on the other wall beside it.

“Here ya go!” Cindy exclaimed, leaning against the door frame. Marvin smiles back at her. He’d have to guess she is around the age of six years. He’s sometimes envious of Chase… Having kids and a kind of family. He has always felt lonely in that aspect of life. Then again, he doesn’t think he could ever raise kids. “I’mma go back downstairs. Bye!”

And with that Robbie and Marvin are left to be in the room.

i wanna talk about laura cheating on shadow and what it means in terms of her morality and like what kind of person she is, but since cheating is a rough topic i’m gonna put it under a read more. please do read this if it won’t be triggering for you though because i think it’s gonna be really important to understanding my portrayal of laura! this may not be free of spoilers, but as far as i know i’ve stuck mainly to information and details we already know from the show. if i go into book stuff, i’ll put a spoiler warning

so okay, first things first: i’ve seen some stuff in laura’s and emily’s tags about laura being a bitch or a whore, etc and i’m not even gonna address that tbh but someone brought up like not condemning her for like the sexuality of it, but examining her morals. and that’s 100% valid!!! but they said like her ‘shitty morals’ or something and honestly?

laura isn’t morally shitty. she’s morally weak.

because if you think for a second laura like??? doesnt know what she’s doing is fucked up and wrong, then we are seeing two very different lauras.

and yes, she does it anyway. but that is not indicative of some like moral seed of evil. she’s lonely and sad and weak.

i don’t think robbie ever forced himself on her or really even took advantage of her because she definitely had most of her agency in the situation, but i also see so many indications that???? no part of her actually wanted to be with robbie. like as sad as it is, robbie is a complete stand-in for shadow. when she mentions being with him, she often mentions being drunk. she, as far as i can tell, drinks to ease the guilt she feels sleeping with robbie. (again, i’m not saying any of this is right, but i am saying that laura didn’t one day go ‘fuck shadow i wanna get laid’ and sleep with robbie)

robbie was a drunken mistake that made her feel special and safer and loved. i’m also going off of the fact that in book canon, shadow isn’t super expressive (which i’ll get into more later and im gonna put a spoiler warning)

i also don’t think laura’s friendship with audrey is particularly healthy. it’s 100% tenuous, probably a little high school. im certain that they don’t get along more often than they’d like to admit. of course i’m not trying to minimize what audrey’s going through (and i think the show and betty gilpin did a really good job of like portraying how much it fucks her up) but there are aspects of her personality that i could identify as seriously clashing with laura’s. i think audrey was a little more cynical, probably a bit more biting and sarcastic in her everyday life. and i think laura, before her death, was the kind of positive you only are when you’re really making an effort. laura doesn’t have a good relationship with her mom (clearly evidenced by the fact that shadow doesn’t get along with her mother. shadow meant the world to laura and if her mom was ever unkind to him i really don’t see laura tolerating that)

shadow was laura’s best friend, if not (by the time they got married) her only real friend. is that healthy? of course not. but it was definitely a reality. laura has people she’s friendly with. but her circle is audrey, robbie, and shadow. audrey is her best friend on paper, but they are old friends and definitely grew to be very different people. robbie is the person who knew shadow and was shadow’s best friend, so it makes sense that laura is more drawn to robbie for companionship than audrey because he is more like shadow

so now let’s think about laura who’s just lost her best friend in the entire world. it’s her fault. she doesn’t really shy away from the fact that she is the reason shadow went to prison. i can’t remember if they go into detail about what happened, but he did it to protect her. so: 1) the love of her life/her best friend is in prison. 2) it’s her fault. 3) her ‘best friend’ audrey is someone she connects with less and less every day. 4) robbie is there.

also!!!! laura is ABSOLUTELY self sabotaging. she knows sleeping with robbie will damage her relationship with shadow, and whether she is conscious of it or not, she thinks shadow is better off without her.

NOW let’s talk about that dick pic shall we?

so we see her phone, her texts to robbie seem to consist mostly of plans to meet. but he texts her that dick pic and she says DOWN BOY

i know this seems like im reaching but she is pretending he is shadow

it’s literally this big sweet inside joke that shadow is her puppy. they don’t go into it on the show which is absolutely obscene because it is the sweetest thing in the world and im gonna paste it in here for anyone who hasn’t read the book.

“When they got married Laura told Shadow that she wanted a puppy, but their landlord had pointed out they weren’t allowed pets under the terms of their lease. “Hey,” Shadow had said, “I’ll be your puppy. What do you want me to do? Chew your slippers? Piss on the kitchen floor? Lick your nose? Sniff your crotch? I bet there’s nothing a puppy can do I can’t do!” And he picked her up as if she weighed nothing at all and began to lick her nose while she giggled and shrieked, and then he carried her to the bed.“

So, yeah it’s a reach but I genuinely think Laura is just pretending Robbie is Shadow. She talks to him as if he’s Shadow, she gets drunk before she sleeps with him. She’s miserable because the love of her life is gone.

I’m not saying Laura is a morally pure person. But she’s not an inherently bad person. She did a bad thing out of desperation and emotional instability and now she’s dead and she can’t apologize because she doesn’t feel all that sorry because she can’t feel anything bc she’s dead. so yeah im not seeking to absolve her of guilt, but like she was also suffering a lot without shadow and the way she coped with it totally sucked! but i also see it as a very (tragically) human thing to do.

PLOT/BOOK SPOILERS BELOW

another thing: i haven’t read this far in my reread so i don’t remember much detail but shadow is called shadow because he is a shadow of a person. that’s why i think his race is made to be a little bit ambiguous, he doesn’t talk much, and is all together pretty passive in the book. they changed these things because a) shadow as a protagonist needs to be a little bit more relatable/engaging, b) the show would be dry without dialogue, and c) like re: race you inherently have to choose a human to play the role and that person is inherently going to have a racial identity so like that’s just how that works

this is why i identified so strongly with shadow in high school, lol. he isn’t fully himself!!! he’s not fully alive, even! so obviously that factored into laura feeling so distanced from him. all she got were phone calls, potentially rare visits where he was likely suffering a lot emotionally and thus may have been even more distant? and like that’s not his fault, but again laura is a weak person. she needs a lot of love and care and reassurance which shadow can’t possibly give her in prison. it’s not his fault, it is her fault, but shadow has sympathy for her so i ask that you do too! and like you probably do bc you’re following me but ive seen a lot of hate in her tag and it just made me sad bc she’s so complex and to just write her off as a sack of shit is totally reductive bc she was definitely like wracked with guilt when she was alive. we just don’t see it now bc she’s dead and like expressing whatever guilt she had to shadow doesn’t make sense to her because its over, she already did it. and what’s the sense in making shadow feel guilty or sorry for her?

so yeah thats my spiel im sorry it turned into such a rant. but if you got this far thank you omg! ur a star and i hope you understand laura’s nightmare of an existence a little better (at least according to me) lmao love y’all! pls go easy on my dumb zombie daughter
