1991-2024

It was tough enough to write a small blurb on facebook and it's taken me another few days to be able to write something here, but we lost dear Bug on Sunday. Even though he was 32, he was outwardly happy and healthy, it was sudden and heartbreaking and I miss him so much. I've spent over two thirds of my life with him (20 years) and it's so hard not seeing him in the paddock any more.

I was a clueless kid with equally clueless parents when we bought him, he carted a tiny me around pony club gymkhanas and itty bitty 50cm jumping events, we grew older together and had an amazing career with 2 national titles, I think 5 or 6 state titles, 2 saddles, and way too many smaller achievements to list.

He taught me so much about the importance of a good partnership, how to go fast (and more importantly, how to slow down that engine lol), how to win and lose graciously, and how to save precious time in jump offs. He also let me know if I was getting too cocky and would always strike me down a peg if I wasn't on my game. He taught me that there's never enough purple shampoo in the world for the Dirt King. We knew each other so well that at times it was like we had a telepathic connection.

He showed me just how much heart can be packaged into a little grey 13.3hh pony.

I'm grateful I got so many wonderful years with you, I love you and thank you for everything, Bug 💔

Buddy Daddies Ep 10 Speculation/ Predictions

the mood for this ep already looks so sombre I’m so unprepared..

I’m assuming from this shot that kyu does end up telling/ hinting to kazuki and rei that they’re in danger and that shigeki has asked for info.. which will obviously make them reflect on whether keeping miri with them is the safest thing for her moving forward

- or they’ve told kyu about misaki coming back and he gives them some advice they don’t want to hear… potentially something that contradicts his previous ‘don’t regret it’ advice now he knows they’re in danger but can’t betray the organisation …

which is obviously something both of them are gonna take really hard (from the looks of the trailer especially kazuki, though he wears his heart on his sleeve)

we also know that misaki makes a return in this ep. miri looked so happy to see her which really tugged on my heartstrings ahah

we know that she’s come to pick up miri and take her back from the episode synopsis

it seems that misaki is invited over for dinner from miri eating the hamburg steak and kazuki and rei sitting next to each other rather than opposite like they usually do (edit: its confirmed by the episode synopsis that she comes over to discuss)

I think this interaction with misaki, seeing miri happy in the presence of her mom for the first time AND potentially knowing that their family is in danger is gonna make kazurei reflect (spiral) on what the best course of action is… we know misaki is the one to intimate she wants miri back and they can’t really say no to her birth mother ..

I also think the reason misaki wants miri back is because she’s ‘made it big’ in her career and is moving out of japan- hence her posh new clothes and haircut and the ‘specific reason’ mentioned in the synopsis, this is also where the title ‘lost at sea’ could come into play

however I also have a theory that misaki is lying and has been paid off by the organisation to take miri back .. which would explain the fancy look and the sudden turn around in maternal feelings (though if she knows she’s gonna have a better life she may be able to offer miri a better childhood than before, since her life is no longer ‘ruined’ by her)

which brings me to these shots

we can see the family are shopping for miri again, and their bags and items are with them when they arrive at the funfair (you can tell by the rainbow lights and the final shots in the trailer with kazuki and rei)

this seems odd to me as buying miri a bunch of stuff and then having to lug it around the fair doesnt seem productive

which is why I think they might be giving her a final send off with lots of gifts and a fun day out 💔, they may not have a lot of time before the organisation closes in on them and they have to send her back to misaki..

you can tell they’re in the ferris wheel here which also makes me think they might be ambushed and the episode will end of a cliffhanger - thanks to the scenes from the op (though rei is dressed in his assassin wear in that)

I can’t fathom the anime making misaki come back without a genuine reason/ ploy considering the central themes of the show are about found family and how they set up that some people just don’t want to be parents … though I hope that if my organisation theory is true misaki isn’t doing something irredeemable bc they set her up as a victim and I would hate for them to do a 180° on that

and considering how many episodes are left and the focus on them truly being a family last ep, it seems too soon to definitively say that miri should live with her mom that is what’s best for her

edit: I also saw someone say that kyu may have been the one to send misaki as shigeki would just kill miri which I also think is a very likely scenario!

Oopsie, I guess I had this one posted over on the blog, but it looks like it never made it over to Tumblr. It’s not a story, but a history/backstory timeline on Jordan and Colette and their 10-year “relationship” (= hot & cold co-parenting partnership with occasional benefits?).

There’s not much shockingly new information here—most of this has been mentioned or discussed in one place or another, but some of it may have been easily overlooked or lost in the mess. It’s something I wrote for my own purposes as I was drafting, but I thought maybe some of you might find it interesting to read? Or not? Carry on as you like, lol!

Can you even imagine a time when Colette was carefree and happy? They were such babies. 💔

So it’s June 2078 when Jordan and Colette meet at a college party. He is 18, fresh out of high school, and invited by some friends (he didn’t go to college himself). She is 21 and about to start her third year of studying for a business degree where she intends to be super successful and rich. They begin dating (screwing) casually but often. The relationship is fun, but very superficial.

October 2078 — Colette gets knocked up with the twins. Jordan is instantly freaked out, especially a couple months into the pregnancy when they learn that it’s twins. Their short “relationship” ended right away. Colette was put off by his immaturity, and Jordan was put off by her pressure. Colette thought long and hard about abortion, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Spring 2079 — With great effort, Colette completes her third year of classes while pregnant. She keeps in touch with Jordan, but their correspondence is only to discuss their impending parenthood. She’s already written him off as a deadbeat, but she keeps the line of communication open because she figures her kids should know their dad. Even if he’s useless.

June 2079, Felix and Milo are born. Jordan is not there to witness their birth—Colette didn’t invite him, but he also didn’t ask to be there. He meets the boys when they’re a couple weeks old. He only offers to take them when his dad is available to help because the idea of being left alone with two newborns scares the shit out of him!

When the boys are 4 weeks old, this story takes place.   

Fall 2079 — Colette puts her degree on hold, being a single mother to twins. She has to focus on working to support them by herself, trying to find babysitters, having no family of her own nearby. Her family is alive, but unhelpful. Colette is the prideful type who won’t beg for help from them, and so she would rather do it on her own. She doesn’t have much help from Jordan, but she has his dad. Jordan is 19 and still waffling between jobs. Jordan’s dad sends money when he can.

Spring 2080 — Colette (23) is nagging Jordan to get a better job, then his father also starts to imply he should get some steady work. Jordan (20) feels burdened by the pressure of it all and that one stupid mistake when he was barely an adult should ruin his whole life, so he flakes out to go traveling.

Colette keeps in touch with his dad while he’s gone, who still sends money to her when he can and enjoys taking the boys when he’s not working. Mick doesn’t think she’s a nice girl, but he’s sympathetic to her situation, having raised Jordan as a single dad. And he feels responsible for the trouble his son caused her.

If there’s any truly new information I realized while writing this timeline, it would be how close Colette was with Jordan’s dad, and how much he contributed when she had nobody else to rely on.   

Summer 2080 — Jordan discovers credit cards, which they hand out too easily to young adults. He goes backpacking in Europe. The gear and hostels and restaurants and plane tickets are very expensive, but the adventure is too tempting to say no. Especially when huge responsibility looms at home. He works odd jobs to keep up with the minimum payments most of the time, but the debt is racking up.

2080-2081 — he comes home occasionally, and he attempts to see the boys when he does, but Colette is pissed that he’s off adventuring while she’s stuck looking after twins by herself and trying to build a career. She wants more committed involvement from him, but she can’t afford a lawyer to enforce child support or a custody schedule.

Winter 2082 — Jordan is home and traveling intermittently. While he’s backpacking in California, his dad dies. He hears about it from Colette. He’s 22, Colette is 25, the boys are 2.5. Jordan inherits what little equity his dad had in their home, but it isn’t much and it’s soon wasted in trying to keep up payments.

Summer 2082 — He can’t keep up with the mortgage payments on his own, and the house goes into foreclosure. He has really fucked up everything, and he feels lost and completely alone. The boys turn three. He doesn’t have a real bond with them—they knew their grandfather more than they know their dad. But in his desperation, he reaches out to Colette because those boys and Colette are the only family he has left in the world.

Fall, winter 2082 — As it turns out, Colette is working in real estate now. She sees an opportunity here. He wants to know his kids, and he needs help selling his dad’s house and doing something about his debts. Colette is clever and money-minded, but she also needs help. She wants consistent involvement from him so she can return to school to finish her business degree. He moves in with her platonically and becomes a stay-at-home dad, and Colette helps make his money problems go away.

This little drabble takes place. 

Jordan falls into fatherhood quite nicely the second time around. 

Also at some point in about 2083, he and Colette resume their sexual relationship. (Not gonna call it romantic, it was pretty purely just sexual—roommates and co-parents with benefits?) They’re both lonely, and neither of them have dated since they were first together (Colette because of being a single mom to twins, and Jordan because he’s terrified of getting someone pregnant again), and living together makes it easy to fall into again. They’re older and much more careful this time.

Summer 2084 — the boys turn five and start kindergarten, which frees up Jordan to find steady work. He starts working maintenance at Coolidge House County Inn.

2084-2085 — their relationship at this point is complicated, hot and cold, and likely codependent. She wouldn’t mind marriage as a financial benefit, but she wants to keep an open relationship (though when she’d find the time to date other men is another story). He doesn’t want that and doesn’t want to marry her, either. The sex is good, as far as he knows (he was a virgin before he met her). She can be bossy and cruel, which he tries to brush off (tries and sometimes fails). She reminds him constantly of how he ran off when the babies were little and how she fixed his whole messy life for him when he came back. He refuses to aspire to more, as she demands. He feels both indebted to her and also caged by these debts he will never repay and ideals he will never meet. But she was the only one who knew his dad, and they’re something of a family. He has become attached to his boys, finally, and the family they’ve made is not trivial. He enjoys not having to worry about things like bills and taxes. He doesn’t want to rock the boat.

Summer 2086 — Maria starts working at Coolidge House. It’s love at first sight for her, but he will remain oblivious for a while still. 

2087 — Maria’s crush continues to grow into what she will call “an impossible and tragic love.” Jordan notices finally, thinking she is adorable, warm, and obviously beautiful, but far too precious to be a romantic option for him. She is a widow and single mother, and she needs someone more reliable than he has known himself to be. He adores her, but he doesn’t want to bring his chaos into her life. So they become friends, and the friendship is easy, nourishing, and fun. He loves going to work because she’s there. Bonus, Colette likes the extra money, although she still nags him to aspire to something more.

January 2088 — their first real story on the blog. Maria is 26, Jordan is 28, and Colette is 31. 

July 2088 — my sweetheart stories begin.

September 2088 — boxes and squares stories begin.

five times afraid:

One:

“Bruce, you need to breathe. Please, I need you to breathe.” Y/N tried to keep her tears at bay as Bruce clutched onto her harder. Her back hurt from how she had hit the floor when he all but collapsed on her, but she pushed the pain down and ran her fingers through his hair instead. “C’mon, please, breathe with me.”

She knew the first anniversary of his parents death that he spent away from Gotham would be hard for him; that was the whole reason she had flown out to visit him at his college for a week. He had been fine for the first two days, a little more reserved than normal, but she was expecting that. But she had not expected to wake up on the actual anniversary and have him burst into tears the moment he set eyes on her.

After that he had started having a panic attack and would have collapsed to the floor if she had not caught him. His breathing was still ragged and uneven and it terrified her.

“Please, just breathe with me.” She cupped his face and rubbed her thumb along his jaw as she exaggerated her own breaths.

It took a while, but eventually his breaths started to even out as well, and then he was just sobbing into her shoulder instead. But she could deal with that, as long as he just kept breathing.

Two:

Bruce did not know what to do with the small kid who was currently crying into his t-shirt. He could deal with hardened criminals, drug dealers and the literal worst of the worst without fear.  But having a recently orphaned eight year old clinging to him, sobbing his heart out terrified him more than he wanted to admit.

His first reaction was to call for Y/N, but she was out catching up with a friend from college and he really did not want to deny her the chance to talk to someone other than him, the kid or Alfred. It had also taken Dick so long to warm up to him that he did not want to just pass the kid off to someone else and end up back at square one.

So he took a deep breath and tried to think about what his parents used to do when he had a nightmare.

He had a vague memory of his mother holding him in her lap and singing Yesterday by the Beatles. Bruce was not very confident with his singing voice, so he started humming instead, gently rocking the kid just like his mom used to for him.

Three:

Y/N’s hands would not stop shaking as she reached out and took Dick’s hand in both of hers. She could barely hear what Leslie and Bruce were saying behind her; something about a baseball bat and a fractured skull and wait to see if he wakes up.

She wanted to run her fingers through his hair like she always did when he was hurt or scared or needed her, but the bandages wrapped around his head stopped her.

She should have fought him and Bruce harder when they said he was going to be helping Bruce each night. She should have fought them both tooth and nail because she was not sure how she would cope if she lost her little boy.

Four:

Jason was… Jason was standing right in front of him. Y/N’s account of what happened and the security footage from the cave had been one thing, but having Jason stood mere metres away from him solidified in Bruce’s mind that his son really was back.

But the choices Jason had presented him with terrified him. He could not kill his son, Jason meant too much, it had hurt too much to lose him the first time, for Bruce to even consider it. But he could not just stand by and let his son kill the Joker either, no matter how much Bruce wanted the clown dead himself. Jason, the carefree little boy who cared so much about people, did not need his own murderers blood on his hands

Bruce took a breath and tried to figure out a way out of this.

Five:

Y/N could not stop staring at the blood on her jeans as she combed her fingers through Jason’s curls. He was leaning heavily against her and sobbing into her shoulder as she tried to console him. Was just catching up on the pod and had to chime in on ep 29. I think it’s a little unfair to say that Bella is being over the top in her depression era. Yes she is sad about Edward leaving but it goes deeper than that: it wasn’t just a boyfriend she was losing.

She is an only child with an immature, selfish mom and a dad that, while nice enough, hardly knows her. The Cullens are a large, cohesive, loving family and she wanted to join them badly. Also, now that she knows that the supernatural exists, she wants to be a part of that world badly and losing Edward also meant losing her chance at immortality. She didn't just lose a boyfriend, she lost the best possible version of her life.

Bella's depression is always going to be a hot topic, trust me bestie. G has talked pretty decently in-show about how Bella lost her entire support system. that's 100% true: she put all her eggs in one vampire-shaped basket, went full tunnel-vision when it came to edward, and only focused on that for 6+ months. but imo it's unfair to point toward charlie and renee (don't worry, I'll get into that) and shuffle responsibility onto them for the way bella spirals after edward/the cullens depart, leaving her with some vague yearning for a loving family (which, tbh, I'm not sure I see supported in canon in any way?)

friend I am so sorry to break it to you but the podcast jokes about stanning renee are not a bit. I (shannon) will always come to the defense of my girl renee dwyer because of how severely she's been mischaracterized by fandom at large. I won't get into it too deeply (me when I lie) because I really could go on all day but bella's parents being distant to the plot they way they both are is 100% by design. it's the whole Disney Mom Effect. when your character is designed to go off on adventures and have a fantastical journey, you sort of end up killing the mom (or at least one parent) so that there's more of that push for the main character to go out and make their own life! woo! enjoy your magical journey! but if you have a mom that is thoughtful, super-involved, ever-present, and/or ahem, alive, that fucks with the plans. renee isn't some neglectful monster who abandoned her daughter to go spend weekends in miami. charlie isn't some dumb sitcom dad who weaponizes incompetence to get free meals. they both love, care about, and worry for bella the way a normal parent would (and we see this in canon). now, smeyer didn't kill either of them, but honestly she pulled off charlie and renee's characters really well imo!

anyways, I agree that losing a vampire boyfriend that could have offered you infinite money or eternal life is a big L, no matter what. but the thing is, bella doesn't care about either of those things. she doesn't care about anything beyond Being With Edward (and Alice, to a lesser extent). the vampirism and cullens are a bonus perk, but she only focuses on edward. that's why we're always going to clown on her "throbbing" holes and her boring nightmares. sure, I feel bad about her complete lack of self-esteem and her self-destructive streak, but it's so hard to feel bad for her when the way she thinks about and acts toward non-cullen characters is like, uh... not great. so I am very sorry to you and the whole of your defense squad, and I wish you the best in your journey, but I don't think we'll ever NOT roll our eyes at Bella's behavior in this book 💔😔—shannon

And yet, in this moment, there's a hundred questions in his head that he cannot find an answer to. What is he doing? Why is he still a coward, dancing around his feelings? Why did he tell April he was happy being just her friend and co-parent, when they moved to Boston last year? Why did he even divorce her in the first place, when it seemed it only brought them so much pain and anguish? For someone smart, he's a fool, and he would slap his hand on his forehead (that's how stupid he feels), but April is already looking at him with concern, and he doesn't want to look even more like an idiot in front of her. Great, not only does he feel stupid, but he also thinks like a 14-year-old now.

I see a lot of angst and it actually makes sense??? And just,, a lot of stan's stuff is really depressing, i hate the episode(s) 'youre getting older' holy fuck. I got a better job, got two little nieces from my cousins, got into book translating which was always my dream.

I mean, nothing particular comes to mind, I think I was just generally having a hard time because existential crisis and anxiety about the future and possibly a sprinkle of depression.

I don't feel like I've grown that much, but I feel like I managed to care a little less about what other people think.

That I can get a job even with an interview. I've always despised interviews and avoided jobs that required them (lots of freelance work doesn't), but this year I kind of had to do it, and even though it was awkward as hell, it worked out somehow.

I was feeling especially horrible for my birthday, so I didn't really do anything. My friend was moving to Germany around that time, so she had a farewell party on my birthday and I went to that instead of celebrating.

Would you say this past year has been a good year overall?

Well, not really. I mean, I had plenty of good moments, looking back, it's just that mentally I wasn't doing so well most of the time.

What are your goals for the new year?

Travel somewhere new, maybe try solo travelling. Read more. Write more (not just for work). Keep up with the gym stuff. Try to say yes to more opportunities. GO BACK TO LEARNING JAPANESE.

I think probably 15th or 16th July. It's kinda silly, but basically, I went to a gig with my friends and we had a ridiculously good time. My friends' brother and I were making up these weird choreographies for songs, everyone seemed to have really enjoyed themselves, the energy was just awesome. Then I was walking home early in the morning as the sun was coming out and just thinking to myself how these moments are what life is all about.

Hey there

So im in a bit of a mess and I really need some advice I dont know what to do :( I'm sorry if this isn't the place and you don't have to answer of course but I'm just so lost.

So in a nutshell my partner of 10 years has just cheated on me, we have 2 small children the last just born months ago. I'm dealing with postnatal I have been obviously depressed and not coping and apparently neglectful to him which pushed him to cheat.. somehow.. we are trying to work through this as 10 years is a long time and I love him despite being heartbroken... something feels like it has changed in me like the way i feel. I never thought he would do this.. I had unconditional love and an unlimited amount of trust for this guy ... But now that's all gone I don't know if I can get over this or move past it or build that back up.. and it's even more of a blow because I feel like and have been made to feel like it's my fault now for being postnatal and feeling like I was. This sounds so ridiculous but i dont want to hurt him if i decide to let go of this relationship i know it sounds so stupid considering what he done. Im not looking for a magic answer I know I have to make this decision on my own but it's just so hard and I dont know if I have the strength to do this again even though I love him I'm still just so broken from this. I'm just looking for advice I guess from someone who doesn't know me.. and to actually say how I've been feeling to someone who will listen.

First of all I’m so sorry it took me so long to answer you.

I don’t know if you’ve made a decision about all this already but I’m gonna answer you as if you haven’t.

Ok. So it’s completely not stupid of you to consider forgiving him and start over, marriages were made to last. In sickness and in health. Since you’ve trusted him for over 10 years and he’s never done anything like this before, it was probably a case of a “sickness” in your marriage. Of course that doesn’t make it ok to cheat, it doesn’t make it right. But it’s something you could work on if you both want to.

It’s completely not your fault either. Not at all. You’ve made mistakes, of course, we all have. But that doesn’t make it your fault. Don’t do that to yourself cause it’s just not fair. You’ve just a had a baby, your focus is on the baby now, on postpartum. Please don’t blame yourself. A lot of different circumstances had led him to cheating. But the choice was his, not yours.

I don’t know the whole story, how you found out. If he was honest or not, so it’s difficult to say. But if it was me, and we had 2 children (which in fact we do) I’d think about that too. And I’d ask Gos for guidance. And also I’d ask God to help me truly forgive my husband because if you’re gonna give it a second try, it won’t work if you don’t truly forgive him first. And God’s the easiest way out in that. In a lot of things, actually.

I’d also do couple’s therapy because that for sure will help you. Both of you.

We all know marriages are difficult and 10 years is a lot, you’ve built a life and a family together. Don’t forget about everything you’ve been through together, really think about everything that’s happened. The good and the bad. And talk it over with each other and see how he truly regrets his decision to cheat and how you feel if you could one day trust him again.

I really hope you guys can make things right again and I hope all of this turns out to be something that in the end helped you become better partners, better parents, better people.
