What? I’ve definitely been writing this entire time. What do you mean? I didn’t take a break for too-tired-to-even-exist reasons. I’m definitely not going to be going a bit slower with this stories, because honestly I Am Still Fairly Tired.
Anyways, this is a really like... exciting story for me!! This is another one of those kinda stories that I had the entire plan for, but just never got into actually writing. I’ve been planning for something like this to happen for months. Literal. Months.
Description: In the midst of a morning stroll, Amandine is bumped into by a rather... interesting stranger. Yet, even from the first, there is something... unsettlingly familiar about them.
_________________________________________________________
She didn’t know what to make of the man before her.
This stranger was so hauntingly familiar. Amandine knew she had never met him before. She was good at faces, yet this one was… had she not still been staring so intently, there would have definitely been a deepening frown on her face.
“...just remembered, I never mentioned my name.” One hand ran through almost-black hair, and he smiled. “But where are my manners? Bumping into a stranger, and not even introducing myself! Averoux D’amboise,” he said, with a half-step back into a bow.
It took her a few moments to pull away from the overpowering feeling of familiarity. She knew that name, and she knew that face, yet from where? “Amandine,” she replied with a bow of her own. “Forgive my forwardness— we haven’t met before, have we? For some reason, I…” she trailed off, arms crossing. “...nevermind. It must be my mind playing tricks on me.”
Averoux’s eyes furrowed for a moment. One eyebrow raised a half-second later, leaning forward towards her. There was a frown on his face as he said, “That makes two of us, then. How strange.”
There was plenty strange about their encounter already. One that Amandine had been pretending not to notice was how similar they looked— had she seen herself and this stranger side by side, as a random bystander, she would have assumed of some familial relation. Yet that wasn’t…
Even then, from what she had been told by her aunt, before...
It didn’t bear thinking about. Amandine shrugged with a far more tense smile than she meant, “A funny coincidence if there ever was one.” Another half moment to look around, as if thinking of something other than the strangeness occurring before her, before, “I believe it’s about time that I take my leave. May the Fury watch over you.”
“...Wait.”
Amandine stopped at his side. She glanced over with a raised eyebrow, watching Averoux slowly turn towards her with a narrowed gaze, clearly searching for… something. She shifted her weight slightly, and stole another glance to the way she’d been going. Then with an even breath turned directly towards him.
Averoux’s expression was far less dignified for several moments as he seemed to spot whatever it was in her face he looked for. “Were you adopted into your family?” One half of a second and he added, “Rude, yes, and I absolutely beg forgiveness— yet I can’t shake that feeling. Nophica as my witness, I am not crazy.”
For some reason, she highly doubted that. “I advise that you explain yourself, before I lose my patience,” Amandine said with a slow reach towards her staff. Her fingertips brushed against it at first, before finally wrapping around its length. “And deliver you to the Temple Knights in pieces for your questionable act.”
Normally, she wouldn’t make such threats towards someone. In the middle of the day in Ishgard, no less. Yet something about the encounter seemed far too off. Perhaps it was the still-remaining sense of familiarity. The only time she blinked was when her eyes started to burn.
And still, the living enigma of an Elezen before her didn’t so much as flinch. If anything, the light violet stare seemed amused. He cracked a smile— hardly an echo of the polite-yet-distant smile of one talking to a stranger they’d just met. It took every ounce of Amandine’s self-control not to wipe it off his face with a whack of her staff.
“I’m going to say I’ve struck a chord.” The worsening state of her glare apparently confirmed it for him. Averoux’s tone quickened, racing words like an excited child, “Allow me to take a guess— you are… roughly 25, yes? And you were when you were adopted…” he took half a second to count on his hands, numbers mumbled under his breath, “...Approximately 2?”
She didn’t reply. Just raised a brow.
“I’ll take your suspicious glare as a yes.” He glanced at her hidden hand. “I would… also appreciate it were you not actively reaching for your weapon. I have no intention of causing you harm. Nophica— once again— as my witness.” When she didn’t move, he only sighed. “...Very well.”
“I would appreciate it if you could get to your point. I have far better to do than listen to the ramblings of a madman.”
“I am as sane as they come, my good lady.”
“I would sooner believe a coeurl say it doesn’t intend to make a meal of my bones,” Amandine said through gritted teeth. Perhaps it was a show of her lacking sanity, to be entertaining the fool for so long. Or a telltale sign that she spent far too much time around people— or, more specifically one person— who always believed the best of everyone.
There was that smile again. “What good news for us both, then. Last I checked, I am no coeurl.” Before she could even react, Averoux nodded. “I’m afraid it only gets more convoluted from here. Should you like to hear it, then I have a story to tell. I think you would benefit from hearing it in full.”
Amandine let out a sigh. “Do you need a formal invitation to tell this story, then? Speak. While I’m still foolish enough to stand here and listen to this nonsense.”
“One specifically in cursive, if you please, with a lovely floral border,” he replied with a bare nod. There was a smirk now, instead of a smile. Amandine was about to clobber him half to death already, yet that made the idea of it so much more tempting. Whether by his own realization of her ever-withering patience, or just an observation of how she shifted her grip behind her again, Averoux cleared his threat. “23 year long winters ago— or, near enough not to matter— there was a family. Disillusioned with their life in the Brume, and tired of the near constant eyes of Ishgard’s wealthy gazing down at them, they left.
“A mother, a father, and two siblings…” He trailed off there, and the look in those light violet eyes seemed far too intense. “A boy and a girl.” At that, Averoux turned away, and began pacing. Amandine’s eyes never left him as he moved. Measured, even steps. “Where their footsteps went was anyone’s guess. Only one thing remained certain: it was away from Ishgard, and that was enough for them.”
Amandine would have crossed her arms, were one of them not already occupied with her staff. “Heretics in the making, I would guess.”
Averoux stopped and smiled at her. He said nothing of her comment, only pausing long enough for the stop to be noticeable. And then, he continued pacing again. “This family, they were slaughtered. Likely by Dravanians, given locale. Any soul with an understanding of the creatures would assume the tale ends there. However,” he said with a dramatic turn back to her, “By the will of Halone or by some other deity, the young boy was spared this fate— just barely.
“Awoken some time later in a new place, where the sunlight poured abundant into every window and the whisper of the elements was in every crevice to those who could hear it. And there he stayed with a lovely little couple of farmers who did all they could to make this child happy. Nophica Herself had sent them to be this child’s aid that day, and they were diligent about their work.”
“What good fortune.”
Either he didn’t notice the sarcasm in her tone, or he just didn’t care. Averoux nodded with another smirk, “Good fortune, indeed. Yet there was one thing they could never give to this child: his family back. They found, quite quickly, that he remembered it. He remembered this loss, and despite their greatest effort, they simply couldn’t replace that which he lost. Even then, they lived a happy life together, for many long years.”
That certainly wasn’t what Amandine expected. She couldn’t help the small amount of pity that flashed across her face. “It sounds as if these people in your story met a tragic end. I would offer my condolences.”
“Oh, hardly. They still lead a comfortable life at home. They let their little boy go when he reached his nineteenth winter to finally fulfill the one wish they couldn’t for him. He enlisted in the Archer’s guild, learned all there was to know, and then set off with a single mission. He was going to find what had happened to his family, for he was certain not all of them had perished.”
Even since the story had begun, Amandine’s feelings about it hadn’t been the brightest. Yet as he continued explaining, she’d slowly been getting more unsettled. Whatever conclusion there was to be had from this, the sinking sense in her gut said she already had a feeling of what it could have been.
“So he went. For years, he searched. Through the chaos of the Calamity, through the legendary end of the Dragonsong War, all of history was happening, and still he stayed firm in the past. There was nothing more important than this, in his eyes. Nothing.
“Yet, on the eve of another unsuccessful year of searching… he gave up. To spend his life searching for those who were already dead… it was time to accept it. And so he did. And was left without a purpose.”
Averoux stopped again. His shoulders raised in a long sigh, dropping only at the exhale. With that, he turned around again, yet not in the pattern he’d taken. Instead, he went to stand in front of her again. “And that was where he remained. Drifting, wandering, taking odd jobs and leves to make ends meet until his tracks returned back to the place it had all begun: into Ishgard.
“And what else did he meet there, except a hauntingly familiar stranger, who was the striking image of his late mother. So much so, in fact, that he was so taken aback by the sight that he walked right into her without even realizing.” Were it not for the intense focus she had on not acknowledging the sudden nausea, Amandine would have already followed up on her promise of clobbering him.
It felt like several minutes had passed before she actually felt like she could breathe again. “If I’ve been following this winding story correctly,” Amandine began with a very forced calm in her tone, “Then I am your sibling.”
He nodded once. “I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”
Halone forgive me, this may be my stupidest decision yet. She took her hand off of her staff, and crossed her arms. “Then I am sure you will not refuse this most simple of requests,” she said, and let her arms fall to her sides. “And rest assured, I would be glad to help, should you be willing to accept.”
His answer was already obvious, even before the words left his mouth. “I accept, then. This is the closest I’ve come to hope in a long, long time.”
“Very well.” Amandine smiled. “Prove it.”

PART 1┇PART 2┇PART 3
ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ
1997 - first day of grade one
It was your first day of grade one. Surrounding you in the school yard, there were parents crying as they sent their children off into the educational institution for the first time, embarrassed children begging their parents to stop crying, and teachers talking to parents. The principal came out and called for everyone to find their new class using the lists on the wall. Walking over to the lists with your parents, you found your new classroom. Sending a nervous smile to your parents and giving them one last hug, you entered and found your name on a desk.
Once you had taken out your crayons and were colouring contentedly, a boy sat down beside you. Jaehyung his name card said, not that you could read it given you were in grade one.
“Hi! I’m Jae,” said the boy with a big, goofy smile on his face.
“My name is y/n,” you said, remembering how your mother taught you to introduce yourself. “Do you want to be friends?”
Let’s be best friends!”
“Forever?”
“Forever!”
2002 - last day of grade five
“...and that you be as successful in middle school as you were here,” your principal finally concluded. With the end of her speech, names were called for people to come on stage and collect their diplomas. When that was over, awards were handed out along with a few more speeches. Finally, finally, you and the rest of the graduating class were released into the waiting arms of your proud parents and relatives.
“Y/n!” A voice called and you turned to see Jae sprinting towards you, family in tow, stopping to catch his breath once he was in front of you. “We did it!”
“Only seven more years to go,” You grumped, wishing you could be free from the hell that is the school system.
“Oh, don’t be such a sourpuss,” Jae teased, lightly poking you. “Where’re your parents?”
“They went over to the food tables.”
“Oooo! There’re snacks!”
After eating your fill at the snack tables, you and Jae wandered off towards the climber in the corner of the school yard. Climbing on top of the monkey bars, you and Jae sat next to each other, laughing about something that happened in grade three.
Talking a moment to pause, Jae asked “we’re still gonna be best friends in middle school, right?”
“Of course,” you replied without hesitation, thinking it was silly for him to even think of you two not being best friends. You’ve been best friends forever! Your house was his house, and vice versa! Your families knew each other, and your moms were basically best friends, too! Of course you’d still be friends in middle school! What a stupid question.
“Just checking to make sure you won’t ditch me for someone else.”
2003 - November of grade seven
“Why are you friends with a boy,” your friend Kira asked, standing with you in the school yard. “Don’t you know boys have cooties?”
“He’s my best friend, and he doesn’t have cooties,” you replied. “That’s just stupid.”
“I just think it’s weird.”
“What’s weird,” Jae asked, walking up to you and Kira. “You ready to go?”
“Nothing,” you respond, picking up your lunch box. “Lets go.”
Walking home together was the norm for the both of you. Jae’s house was far away and his parents worked late, so he would come to your house, do homework, eat dinner, and hang out with you and your family until one of his parents or his older sister could pick him up.
“Kira says boys have cooties,” you explained to Jae, sitting in your living room, homework spread out around the two of you.
“That’s dumb,” Jae said, distracted by the paper in front of him. “What’s eight times four?”
2004 - October of grade eight
It was around this time when everyone in your class had a “boyfriend” or a “girlfriend” and was having their first kisses. You, on the other, had no such thing. Unsurprisingly, neither did Jae. “I’m waiting for someone special,” he would say every time one of his friends asked. “I just don’t like anyone enough to kiss them.”
Strangely, his statement hurt you. What about you? Were you not special enough for a first kiss? Am I that unkissable?
You decided to ask him.
“Am I unkissable,” you asked him one day at lunch.
“No, why’re you asking me,” Jae replied, looking up from his sandwich.
“It’s just - no one seems to want to date me,” you said, crestfallen. “It made me think that maybe no one wants to date me because I’m unkissable.”
“Listen, all of these ‘relationships’ last less than a week and the guys are just trying to get laid.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah,” he said taking a bite of his sandwich. “If it means that much to you, I’ll be your first kiss. If you want, of course.”
Well. That was unexpected.
2005 - grade eight after winter break
When you went back to school after winter break, you were absolutely dismal. Not only did you have to go back to this hell, but you haven’t spoken to Jae for two weeks. Over break, you had been with family and Jae had been in Buenos Aires, so keeping contact was a little difficult (though you did receive a postcard).
Walking through the doors of you classroom, you spotted Jae instantly. Upon seeing you, your best friend stood up and yanked you into a bear hug, crushing your ribs and lungs.
“Jae-can’t-breathe-“ You spluttered out, him releasing you from the bone-crushing hug.
“How was your break,” Jae asked.
“It was okay. I got your postcard!”
“Did you like the picture?”
“It was really pretty. Where was it taken?”
“Plaza de Mayo. You’re prettier, though.”
Hold up. Jae, your best friend since forever just said. That you, y/n, are pretty. Prettier than Plaza de Mayo, one of the most beautiful places you’ve ever seen.
While you processed his statement, Jae handed you a rather large gift bag with colourful tissue paper stuffed inside. “This is for you.”
Shaking yourself out of thought, you took the bag from him and pulled out the tissue paper. Inside there was a wooden box.
“Open it,” Jae encouraged. “It’s not cursed. Probably.”
Shooting him a weak glare, you reached in a pulled the box out of the bag. The box itself was the size of a small shoe box and made of a dark hardwood. Practically buzzing with excitement, Jae urged you to open it. Proceeding with caution and curiosity, you lifted the lid and peered inside, a jumble of random trinkets meeting your eyes.
“What’s all this,” you ask with a laugh.
“They’re things I found in the markets that reminded me of you,” Jae explained, cheeks turning a rosy colour.
Pulling out a small wooden fish, you ask why it reminds Jae of you.
“Remember when we went fishing and you caught a fish? You cried so much because you thought you’d killed it even though it was still flopping around!”
“Oh yeah,” you admitted, bashfully. Pulling out a smaller box covered in red fabric, you asked what it was.
“Open it,” was all Jae said.
So you did. Sitting inside on a cushion of the same red fabric, lay a necklace with a gold chain and a gold charm of half a heart. Gasping, you gently extracted the delicate jewelry. “Jae!”
“It’s a friendship charm,” Jae explained, bringing the other half of the heart out of his shirt. “I have the other half.”
“Why?”
“So we can always be together.”
2005 - November of grade nine
“What’re you doing this Friday,” asked Cody, the guy currently in front of you, attempting to ask you on a date. He was okay looking and somewhat popular, but you just weren’t interested in him at all.
“I have plans.” You did not have plans.
“Another time, maybe?”
Boy he was persistent. “I’ll let you know when I’m free.”
“Oh, okay. See you around, then.”
Thank god he’s gone, you thought, walking to your next class. Taking your seat, Jae plops down on the connected table, smile on his face.
“What did Cody want?”
“I dunno. He asked if I was free on Friday.”
“And?”
“I told him I have plans.”
“Do you?”
“Pft. No.”
“Okay. Cool. See you.” Jae hopped off your desk, still smiling and shooting you some finger guns.
That’s weird, you thought. Usually Jae stayed at your desk until the teacher told hime to move. Maybe he wants to hang out on Friday.
Friday came and you and Jae made the trek to his house (his tv is better).
“So, wait. You never got your first kiss,” Jae asked, completely shocked. “I thought - what about Matthew?”
“Nope,” you said, popping the p. Matthew had been your “boyfriend” for two weeks in grade eight. Jae had been right about the guys just trying to get laid, so you dumped his ass before you’d had the chance to kiss him.
“If you’re ready to take me up on my offer from grade eight, it still stands,” Jae said, ears turning bright red.
“I mean,” you said lost in the thought that it might not be so bad to kiss him, but worried it would affect your relationship.
Jae leaned in and, not seeing an objection from you, gently pressed his lips to yours.
Once he pulled away, you remembered how to breathe and briefly wondered when you had stopped walking.
“Sorry, I just thought that-“ Jae started to say, you cutting him off.
“Don’t apologize. I didn’t hate it, and at any rate, I should be thanking you for getting it over with.”
“So we’re still friends?”
“No.” A worried look crossed Jae’s face. “We’re best friends.”
2006 - September of grade ten
“What’re you doing this weekend?” Jae’s voice asked over the phone.
“Literally, nothing,” you replied, bored with your own mediocrity. “I kinda wish I’d made plans or something.”
“Well, do you wanna come over and maybe have a two day sleepover? My sister’s staying at her boyfriends and my parents are going on a mini vacation to a beach resort or something, so we’ll have the house to ourselves.”
“Oh! That sounds really fun, actually,” you respond, looking forward to long awaited time with your best friend. “What should I bring?”
“Snacks, clothes, toiletries, parent permission, and a will to live!”
After asking your parents, who easily agreed because it was Jae, and waiting not so patiently for Friday to arrive, you were walking up the steps to Jae’s house, ready for three days of fun with your bestie.
Ringing the front doorbell, you heard frantic footsteps approach from the other side of the thick wooden door. Swinging open with a loud cry of “y/n!” and a bone-crushing hug, you were pulled inside, barely waving “bye” to your parents.
“C’mon in! The parents are gone, the sister has left, and you, my dear y/n, have arrived to casa de Park!” Jae exclaimed, already wearing his favourite yellow pajama bottoms.
Shortly following your spectacular arrival, you and Jae were sprawled out across the living room floor in your pajamas, surrounded by blankets, and happily munching on the pizza dinner Jae’s older sister had ordered him before leaving (”Jae, aren’t you lactose intolerant?” “It’ll be fine, probably!” it was not fine).
At one point, you decided to build a blanket fort in the living room to continue watching your Disney movie marathon in the utmost comfort and eventually fall asleep in. While Jae was building said blanket fort (”Aren’t you gonna help, y/n?” “Nah, someone’s gotta chose what we watch.”), you were looking through his collection of Disney movies, deciding on The Lion King. Following the blanket fort construction, you made an executive decision to get ready for bed, not that you would actually sleep.
Brushing your teeth in the upstairs bathroom, you reflected on your movie night thus far. 1) The Lion King was not your favourite Disney movie, The Little Mermaid being your preference. 2) Popcorn is the food of the gods, ‘nuff said. 3) Jae was acting strange. Whenever you tried to snuggle against him like normal, he would shift away or make an excuse to get up.
Lost in thought and washing your face, you didn’t hear the sneaky footsteps of your best friend coming up behind you. Jae, taking this opportunity to scare you shitless, did so by tasering you with his hands and yelling “boo!” at the top of his lungs.
Shrieking, you whipped around to beat him for being an ass. Jae ran off yelling “you can’t hit a guy with glasses!” repeatedly, running and hiding from your rage all around the house.
When the two of you finally made peace and were settled in the fluffy comforts of the blanket fort, you went back to your Disney movie marathon until you fell asleep, Jae finally letting you lay your head on him and snuggle closer. You fell into a deep sleep, legs intertwined with your favourite person on the planet.
2008 - March of grade eleven
By now, you’ve had a long-term boyfriend. His name was Jordan and he was absolutely perfect in your eyes.
Jae hated his guts.
Whenever you had, time you would invite both of them over, only for Jae to ask if “Jordy boy” would be there and cancel if he was. As you and Jae spent less and less time together, an odd void began to form in your heart. Wether it was from missing the company of your best friend or something else you hadn’t quite figured out yet, it still hurt to not have Jae around you.
After a few months and a “long distance relationship” over winter break, you and Jordan broke up. Jae, being the amazing and caring best friend he was, saw how devastated you were and spent more and more time with you, seemingly to forget your months of negligence.
Secretly, Jae was happy you and Jordan broke up, deeming him an unacceptable guy for you to date (”He smells like Axe body spray.” “His locker’s a mess.” “I don’t like the way he talks to you, like he’s looking down on you.” etc.) and wanting more time with just the two of you. Not to mention the fact that he may or may not like you as more than a friend. He never made a move on you, concerned you wouldn’t reciprocate, and instead tried to put a limit on the physical affection between the two of you.
2009 - grade twelve graduation
“...you will go forth into this great, big, beautiful, blue Earth and make a difference! I wish you, our future, all the best on your chosen paths in life. Go forth and have no fear!” with the end of the principal’s speech, the crowd of gathered parents, the graduating class, and other family and friends erupted in cheers. Caps were thrown into the air, friends embraced each other, families yelled words of congratulations.
In all the ruckus, you and Jae were clinging to each other, crying tears of joy into the other’s shoulder.
“We did it,” you whispered, trying not to let out more sobs.
“Only university left to go,” Jae teased, recalling your primary school graduation seven years earlier. You gently hit his arm, which was still encircling your body.
Still intertwined, you exit the school gymnasium with hopes and dreams for a once distant future, fulfilled at last.

1-100 also 😘
Honestly I deserve this payback. This is gonna take forever to answer.
1: when you have cereal, do you have more milk than cereal or more cereal than milk?
More cereal
2: do you like the feeling of cold air on your cheeks on a wintery day?
I don’t know what winter is I live in Texas

I use literally whatever I have in my hand at the time, paper clips, snickers wrappers. There’s no cute bookmarkes It’s all dog ears and trash.

In large quantities and in many different ways. Coffee, black with some sort of flavor. If not that then just coffee and creamer, no sugar. Tea is usually chai or black just with milk.
5: are you self-conscious of your smile?
No! And No one should be! Smiles to me are the most attractive thing about people.

I have my notes on my phone and in it are about 807 entries ranging from random shit like a single word “zoo” with no context or explanation. Entire novels that I was writing and gave up on the last chapter, also conversations with no context between characters that I made up that have no names. Also, recipes for stupid things like Mac and cheese balls, ideas for artwork/stories/products. Essentially nothing is finished. I also have around 10 sketchbooks that have never been completed.

It’s name is Chicky and it’s actually I think supposed to be a stuffed duck, but I was 2 so I called it Chicky. Fun fact, my mom and everyone would ask me if Chicky was a a boy or a girl because I would call it he and she interchangeably and usually just Chicky. And my response would always be. “It’s just Chicky” and then they would ask “but is it a boy or girl?” And my three year old self was just like “??? Are you not paying attention? It’s a Chicky” so yeah I was fighting gender normatively at a young age, I was a pretty woke 3 year old.

49: do you like buying CDs and records? what was the last one you bought?
I like the aesthetic of record players but I do not have the patience to actually go out and buy one, pull out a record, and put it on to listen to the music. 1) because I’m all about instant gratification bc I have like no self control so if I can play it in two seconds on my phone then why would I go through all the trouble of a record and 2) I rarely like all the songs from an album. My music taste is all over the place so even if I like a band I like maybe 3 of there songs and they’d be from different albums.

In all groups of friends I’m usually the vodka aunt.

The Trojan Horse has always been hilarious to me because sneaking a whole army into a city through a wooden horse they made sounds like something I would come up with. It’s ridiculous but it still worked.
60: do you like poetry? what are some of your faves?
Yes, and not to be mainstream but Edgar Allen Poe is my bro and according to my grandma we’re related to him through his cousin. It has been quite some time since I've updated.  I made it through the last week of class and I have nearly made it through finals week.  I will be going home for winter break on Friday morning and I could not be more relieved.  This has been a really exciting semester, but it has also been extremely stressful and I am ready for the much needed rest.
I was very stressed about all of the things that I had to get done this past week or so but I am happy to say that I was able to manage my time a lot better than previous semesters.  Nothing really piled up on me.  I worked ahead, used my time well, and got everything done at a comfortable rate.  I can't say that this has ever happened before since coming to college, but I suppose now is as good a time as any to get on board with time management skills
All of my final papers and assignments came together really well.  My final conducting round went extremely well.  I conducted the first movement of Haydn's "London" symphony and I was the only one in the class to receive high praise for my conducting.  My professor actually walked up to the podium and gave me a fist bump...it was kind of strange I guess but I was happy that I had done really well.
Friday our symphony orchestra performed Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony.  That was a really fun experience.  The music is so beautiful.
Jared came up and spent the weekend with me.  We had a nice dinner with my friend Hannah and her boyfriend.  I got a pomegranate margarita and it was so good.  I think my favorite flavor I've had so far.  After dinner we went back to my apartment and just chilled.  Saturday, my family got here and we all went out for lunch.  I spent the remainder of the day practicing and working on reeds.
Sunday was the big day.  My recital went very well!  I wasn't thrilled with the reed that I wound up playing on, because I had to use a bit too much embouchure to control it, which resulted in the pitch creeping up on me at times.  For the most part though, I was very happy with my performance.  It was an exciting program and the audience seemed to really enjoy it.  *If anyone is interested, I have professional recording files that I would be happy to share with you.  Just message me  My friends got me some recital gifts.  I got a shot glass and a Cher poster....I have a very fervent passion for Cher  My parents got me a big box of chocolate and Jared got me a bottle of wine and some candy.  It was a very nice day and I literally slept for the rest of that day and the entire day after.  It really is a huge relief to be done with my recital.  With the exception of one more final, I am completely done with everything!!  I just need to gouge a bunch of cane to take home with me for the break, since I don't have my own gouger.
Well, now it is probably time to report on tamas.  Let's see where we left off last time....
My tamatchi did indeed change into my beloved Ginji the following day.  It has been so nice having two beautiful Ginjis with me at once.  Both are still here, but very demanding.  Ginji Angel is 14 years old and needs constant attention.  My other Ginji is also 14 but not quite as needy.  I have a bunch of pictures of them that I have taken over the past week or so.

Here is a picture of us at a really good Chinese place that we went to.

A lot happened with the Morino.  Imotchi went into his cocoon, I believe the day after my last post.  He was in that stage for 24 hours.  I was really unsure of what to do with the temperature gauge, but I kept it on the warm side as much as I could.  Every few hours the temperature went farther in the direction that the arrow was pointing, so I did my best to keep it alternating between all the way on the hot side and one notch cooler.  My reasoning for this was just that insects don't survive in the cold...I know to get different characters you have to try different temperatures but I just went with the warm side of things this time.  Since the tama doesn't sleep during the cocoon stage, I paused him overnight.  I didn't want to wake up every few hours to check the temperature, so I figured this was the best option.  I may try to do that some time though.

Anyway, 24 hours after going into the cocoon, my little guy emerged as Minotchi!  I honestly have no idea at all how much care and missing predator attacks plays into what character you get.  I'll attempt to describe my general care this first time around:
I missed no predator attacks in the Babymotchi stage.  I would guess that I missed about three attacks while he was Imotchi.  I let the hearts drop down to two empty on either hungry or happy a couple of times, but never both at once.  I played a lot of games.  The food I fed was pretty random...I just fed what I felt like.  And then the temperature of the cocoon that I've already gone over.  I would have to get him again using close to these same methods to confirm anything.  It is in my plans to create a "How to get this character" guide for the Morino, since I haven't really seen any detailed ones around.  We'll see about this though.
Minotchi is a super cute little bug.  He mostly stays wrapped up in his little shroud, and it appears that he hangs from a tree or something.  When you feed him he comes out and it's really adorable.  I love him.

My little Minotchi left me at 9 years of age.  In reading other Morino logs, that seems to be the trend.  They just don't live long.  I suppose it makes sense because they are insects.  But it's kind of sad you can't keep them around any longer.   I hatched a new white egg yesterday and I have a 1 year old Imotchi.
