throws up my hands in mock resignation but also a hint of frustration Okay Valentino is a cool villain I guess
He's like. Genuinely unsettling. Wish the show struck a better balance with his character sometimes (like sometimes when he's onscreen I have to skip over because I feel queasy and sometimes he's so unsubtle he feels more like a prop than a guy who's going to be a Huge Deal in s2)

if dorian didn't show up, do you think louis would have shot minnie?
I do. I know some people think either he wouldn't have or he would've missed so that's why the writers had him shoot Dorian instead, but mmmmmm no, I don't personally think so. I like to think that if he had taken the shot, his shaky hands would've caused him to shoot her fatally.
Mostly because I'm already so normal about the fact that of the Ericson crew, Marlon and Louis are the only ones with a body count. Well, that we know of, but shown to us in the game, at least. Plus, we know it's Louis' first kill.
Like yeah, Clementine and AJ become part of the crew and they have bigger body counts, and if we're counting indirect kills caused by actions, then Tenn has a count... and I guess everyone has blood on their hands for blowing up the boat... but I'm talking about killed directly with a weapon like....... I lied, I'm not normal about that at all, Louis and Marlon are the ones who have killed someone in Louis' route. I'm also not normal about the fact that Louis kills Dorian and then even as he's clearly in shock, he tries to go with Clementine to get AJ, and then later on when they talk about it, he says it feels like bile but not quite and he's glad he has it in him to do it.... listen, listen, listen... I'm obsessed with that.
Anyway, so if Louis shot Minerva, I think he would've accidentally killed her and can you imagine? He's already enough of a mess after killing the woman who pinned him down and tried to cut his finger off [or succeeded] but he knew Minerva, they were friends before the twins were taken. Even Violet couldn't kill her even though that would've been the smarter thing to do, and we know thanks to meta knowledge that killing her would've saved lives, but Violet couldn't, and I don't think Louis would intentionally either.
Speaking of Violet, if Louis killed Minerva, I hate to think about what that would've done to Vi. I think she might've actually left at that point, like what was planned before it got changed to her being burned. I don't think she would've attacked Louis over it, though, like yeah she attacked Clementine in the cell but Louis? I don't know, but I don't think so just because it's Louis and he'd be a mess about it anyway.
Though if he did kill her, it would be a neat parallel to draw... y'know, because Louis forgave AJ for killing Marlon even though he was pissed and heartbroken, and Violet was annoyed with him the entire time... but could she ever forgive Louis for killing Minerva? Y'know? We already have a similar parallel with AJ shooting Tenn, but still.
If Clementine killed Minerva in that moment, though, then I could see Violet attacking her since in her eyes, Clem proved her right.
So yeah, I get why they added the Dorian kill to his route. It adds another compelling element to Louis as a character, but we also need Minerva alive for episode 4; Louis can't kill her, he can't miss, and he's not going to stay with her because we need Violet to stay on the boat and him to be on shore for all routes.

fuckin uuuuuuuuuuh sorry if this is a hot take or anything but “ai art is theft and unfair to the ppl who made the original art being sampled” doesnt suddenly become not true if the person generating the ai art is disabled
and its also possible to hold that opinion WITHOUT believing that disabled ppl are in any way “lazy” or “deserve” their disability or “it’s their fault” or any of that bullshit
i get that disability can be devastating to those who used to do a certain type of art that their body no longer allows in the traditional sense. but physical and mental disability have literally NEVER stopped people from creating art, EVER, in all of history. artists are creative. passionate people find a way.
and even if a way can’t be found…. stealing is still stealing. like. plagiarizing an article isn’t suddenly ethical just bc the person who stole it can’t read, and being against plagiarism doesn’t mean you hate people who can’t read.
the whole ableism angle on ai art confuses the hell out of me, if im honest. at least be consistent about it. if it’s ethical when disabled people do it, then it’s ethical when anyone does it

One of my favorite things to think about when it comes to modern fantasy type stories is wonder how the supernatural elements may have influenced myths, legends or aspects of history. In a world that seems just like ours, there are so many little butterfly effects that things like magic or mysterious tech could have caused.
Infinity Train has a bunch of these. The Train picking people up would have definitely influenced history, but I like to think about how the existance of the Mirror World would have influenced things like the existance of vampire stories.
As seen with Tulip at the end if Book 1, if a Reflection ever left their post, their Prime would stop showing up in mirrors. If just a few reflections started to go rogue in the right time period, and people notice thier absence, coming to conclusions based on religious stuff and superstition, then all of a sudden you've got people being wrongfully accused of being a vampire. Over time, stories spread, and a case of a handfull of runaway reflections leaves the common story of vampires not appearing in mirrors.
A similar situation could apply to ghost stories. A Reflection runs off after their Prime dies, before the Flecs can take them to have their memories wiped and get assigned to a new Prime. Having grown attached to the family and friends their Prime left behind, they hang around for a while, watching from afar. Someone catches a glimpse of something that looks like someone who died... boom, ghost story.
Reflection Enforcement, of course, would use this sort of thing happening as an excuse to tighten their grip and use more force to keep any rebellious reflections in line. Eventually, nobody in the Mirror World still remembers a time when the Flecs didn't just jump to sanding at the first offense.
How often do mirrors seem to come up with in stories in relation to souls and spirits? How often do mirrors get used as a way to see into or travel to other worlds? How many stories in this alternate world were directly tied to reflections trying to do the same thing Lake did?
Really fun worldbuilding stuff to think about, and that's just a small part of the series. How did the Train itself change history? What events played out differently? Did it change things for the better? Or did it just make them a different kind of bad?

my dad: *telling me i do have socialization deficits, that i need to step out more and interact with people and look like i am part of the environment and that i am "there" and present*
me, knowing damn well i have socialization deficits and feeling overwhelmed in social situations, especially when I don't feel like i fit and when I don't know the other people: ... okay
my dad: did you get upset with me telling you this?
me, dissociating so I don't start crying in front of him: ... no

Ah yes
Ye olde call out post for someone [checks notes] talking about antisemitism but not making any public posts discussing israel, zionism, or Palestine
How dare you not performatively beg to be seen as a 'good jew' and how dare you call yourself a Jew without amending a required 'antizionist' label to yourself every single time you refer to yourself
Especially in [checks notes] posts where you discuss the inherent issues or requiring Jews to label themselves as 'good' before being allowed the conditional acceptance of talking about their own experience on their own blog.
I am someone who is willing to talk about my my thoughts and feelings about the state of Israel. I've got a post in my drafts that is 10 paragraphs long that is just the contextual preamble trying to get to the point of talking about one thought I had while at a community event.
And I'm a blog with 3 active followers, and I'm at the beginning of my explorations of how all the concepts relate to me as an individual
Of course a Jewish blog with a large following might not make public posts about current events
On the other hand you could say oh but posting about it is the /least/ you could do
How do you know they aren't posting elsewhere? How do you know they aren't doing other actions?
Also
And I can't stress them enough
One of the screenshotted posts calling them out for being an eevil zionist
Was them talking about the antisemitism they experienced
While at a protest march for Palestine
Hear ye hear ye add the Jew to the block list for the crime of not calling themselves an antizionist while actively on the ground protesting for Palestine and realizing there were Nazis around them

I’ve been wanting to restrain going off about Kikaider because it’s not really that bad of a show-it has nothing horribly offensive or gross in it and it does have good qualities even if for that very reason it makes me more disappointed it turned out the way it did for me-and I know I have a few followers who seemingly like it but MAN after finishing all of the anime content and going through the cycle of “this is okay” “this sucks” “this exists” I can’t help to wonder why the anime was produced the way it was.
I don’t understand why they had a budget for 3 separate shows that came out essentially a year apart from each other that are still connected and with each one gets a improvement in animation instead of just pouring the budget into one full length show that probably would’ve looked decent. Like how was there only funds for Kikaider to get a 13 ep tv show but enough they could do two ovas? Was there seriously not enough money or investment to just make it a 20+ ep show when it desperately needed to be longer to fit and rectify all the content in the manga? Or was the first show and 01 just split up because of a new cast despite sharing the same storyline in the manga? And also why produce the crossover with Inazuman-or however tf it’s spelled-despite not making a anime for that?
The production decisions with this show confuses the shit out of me because length is generally the reason why i didn’t see as good even if the first show is at least decent and enjoyable, because even if they were doing this out of passion and respect for the author I feel there could’ve been SOME way around this.
