Do you have any fic recs where WWX's characterisation in particular really shines? Preferably longer ones, but shorter ones are fine too.
Thank you!
I do have some recs! I'm usually a bit more picky on LWJ's characterization than WWX's, so more of my fics are once where LWJ is standout, but I am sure some of them will delight.
First I would recommend glitteringmoonlight and Rynne for being incredibly consistent across many stories, both short and long.
As for individual fics, here are some of my favorites where WWX is super stand out.
WWX's Birthday Oneshots
A bunch of little prompts all celebrating Wei Wuxian in some way, so it's a glory of different points in his life.
A Glimpse of Past Glory
Wei Wuxian gets challenged to a duel by a ghost.
fish & wild geese
More LWJ centric, but WWX is fantastic in it, this is a farming au I still like.
make this chaos count
More CQL WWX than MDZS, but he still retains his depth of character. Is smutty, but not the whole fic, so easy to enjoy even if you're not the smut type.
CSI: Gusu Edition
Same goes here; he's a little more CQL than MDZS, but oh is he fantastic in these stories, brilliant and kind and funny.
Four Parts Honey and One Part Vinegar
Back on more MDZS styles, here he is post canon being fantastic and confusing the juniors.
shadows in the sun rise
Lan Wangji is cursed and Wei Wuxian takes care of him, definitely a more introspective look, but as we all know, LWJ can get in deeper than anyone else.
The Guests of Cloud Recesses
Wei Wuxian solves a little mystery in the Cloud Recesses, features him being fantastic both in the flirting and the guidao sides.
feel better love
Incomplete, but lovely! Features both MDZS and CQL WWX and that rare balance of an author who can write both rather than an arrangement of the two.
Letterless
Foxxian and Dragonji, where it captures a lot more of that young-twenties level flirting that most authors seem to struggle with. Also has a smut scene near the end, but a lot of story around it.
And not to toot my own horn too much, but I would recommend checking out some of my own fics if you haven't already, over at Admiranda. Wei Wuxian is one of my favorite characters to write and I haven't had a single complaint yet!
I hope this gives you some good reading material!

- Chapter 6 -
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mistress Wen,” the boy with the gentle smile who called himself Meng Yao said, bowing. “I’ve heard so much about you.”
Wen Qing did not especially want to talk to – anyone,  really, but she really didn’t want to talk, least of all, to a boy some seven years her junior, from another sect with everything that entailed. But just over his shoulder, she could see that Wen Ning was smiling, his cheeks almost bulging with the force of it, as he spoke with the other children, making friends for the first time in his life, and she supposed it was in her best interest to make friends as well.
“I’m not planning on staying, you know,” she told him, just in case, and he nodded agreeably. “I’m a prisoner of war.”
A very comfortable prisoner of war. Who may or may not have put up very little fuss about getting captured when her supposedly secure carriage escort had gotten raided by the Nie sect, especially when their sect leader had recognized her by sight on first meeting and bowed politely instead of taking her head off at once as she might have expected. He’d even asked after her brother’s health – Wen Ruohan hadn’t done that once in the entire time she’d known him, and still less after he’d abruptly gone mad.
And he had, in fact, gone mad.
There was no other way to explain his behavior.
One day he’d been fine, scheming and vicious and narcissistic the way she’d always known he was but also cautious and thoughtful, set upon a slow and inexorable scheme of domination that would see him eventually claim all that he desired, and the next moment he was – very nearly unhinged. He saw himself as the rightful master of the cultivation world, just as he always had, except now it was as if he had had safely it in the palm of his hand and then had it snatched away from him, rather than anticipating a future prize to be eventually savored; he was frustrated and so, so angry, lashing out at all around him.
His sons had loved the idea of attacking the other sects – Wen Xu was old enough to plan out battles, the son of Sect Leader Wen’s previous wife, while Wen Chao, who was still young but old enough to tear off the limbs of small creatures, couldn’t wait to torment the children that had shown him up in achievements, stealing the accolades that he viewed as belonging to him.
They were still young, she’d told herself, and didn’t know better, could still be educated into something like kindness and compassion, but she’d also known that that wouldn’t help them if the other sects defeated theirs - that was the problem with war like this, where there was no room for mercy. What idiot would permit them to live long enough to seek vengeance for their clan?
What idiot would allow her and Wen Ning to live, assuming the same would be true for them?
As a result, Wen Qing had been much less enthusiastic about the whole project, although after her uncle had made an example of the few generals that dared to protest his decisions she was very quiet about her lack of enthusiasm. It didn’t mean she agreed with anything he was doing – that wasn’t new, she hadn’t agreed with anything he was doing for years now, but she’d gotten used to closing her eyes and shutting her ears, but nowadays it was much worse than before. He was acting as though he’d already finished all his carefully-laid plans – the ones he’d previously recognized were necessary as a foundation for the strike he would be ready to make in five or ten years, the one-shot-kill domination of the cultivation world – and nothing, seemingly, could be done to convince him otherwise.
Not even the risk to his precious sons.
The Fire Palace was full of new people, and new things, too, and if Wen Qing ever found out what sick, twisted mind had come up with those torture machines…
“Of course you’re a prisoner, Mistress Wen,” Meng Yao said smoothly. “I am merely acting as a prison guard. Would you like some lunch? Or a bath, or some rest…?”
She narrowed her eyes at him. “You’re not a servant,” she said. “Your clothing is too fine for that.”
“I’m a disciple of the Nie sect, a new one,” Meng Yao said, and she thought he almost sounded surprised about that. “That doesn’t mean that I can’t see to your comfort.”
Wen Qing looked again at Wen Ning, who was now being lured onto the training field and a bow pressed into his hand by excited youngsters. His cheeks were bright red, a sure sign that someone was complimenting him – probably the Wei boy, the Jiang sect’s ward, who was waving his hands around very enthusiastically as if he were trying to sell Wen Ning whole and entire, clothing and crown thrown in for free. The other children seemed just as enthusiastic, though, excluding perhaps the Lan sect’s second young master who mostly just looked harassed but continued to linger as if he were hoping for even more harassment.
It seemed…exhausting.
“A bath would be nice,” she said, giving in with a sigh and wishing, not for the first time, that she wasn’t one of the oldest of her generation. Wen Xu was older, yes, but he obviously wasn’t here, and most of the Nie sect that were her age would be away to war soon enough if they weren’t already. She foresaw a great deal of babysitting in her future. “And then, perhaps, a conversation with some relevant individual to pass along important battle information that I definitely wouldn’t have access to, being a humble and unimportant doctor?”
Meng Yao grinned at her.
“Oh, I think something like that can be arranged,” he said cheerfully. Probably more than he would be if he knew half the information she had to offer was completely insane – for example, her uncle had gotten terribly fixated on demonic cultivation of late, claiming that it would allow a single man to take down a battalion, except he had no idea how to make any of it work. She hoped he never figured it out. “The more the merrier here, Wen-jiejie, and I think we’re all of the opinion that the sooner this war is over, the better. Wouldn’t you say?”
“You’re not the only one who thinks so,” Wen Qing said tartly, not sure if she appreciated the intimacy or not. At least it boded well for her future survival, and Wen Ning’s... “Part of my uncle’s insanity has been his – quite frankly – ridiculous conviction that he needs to kill all of you specifically before you, and I quote, ‘threaten to shoot down the sun’.”
What madman would target the sun?
Maybe they should, though, she thought, and not as unwillingly as she’d always believed she’d be if it ever came down to it. Wen Ruohan might be her uncle, her patron, the one who pulled her up into the sky, and she’d always been resigned to the fact that if he was shot down, so would she; the knowledge had paralyzed her, forced her to be indifferent to his crimes. But the Nie sect was treating her as if she were still Dafan Wen, just different enough to be left out of the dirty water Qishan Wen was splashing all over her surname – through war, through domination, through the attempted kidnapping and murder of lots of innocent children...
Maybe it would be good for him to understand what it’s like to be made a target.
“I like that,” an unexpected voice behind her said – it was the Nie sect leader again, looking unusually boyish without his war-armor and with a smile on his face instead of a scowl. She abruptly wondered how old he was, and how much he’d suffered collaterally when it had been his father who’d been the target instead of her uncle; it hadn’t been something she’d thought much about before. “If there was ever a need to shoot the sun down, it’s now, with Wen Ruohan equating himself for it…it’s like aiming at kite flying in the sky that’s in desperate need of deflating. We could call the war the Sunshot Campaign.”
“That’s ridiculous,” Wen Qing couldn’t help but scoff. “What’s the likelihood that something like that catching on?”

Ahhh, I love this blog so much, I don't have enough words to describe this fuzzy feeling that I get inside every time I see an update notification, thank you for existing! Also, if it's not too much trouble, can I ask for some headcanons for the juniors when their so has a habit of surprising them by peppering kisses all over their little adorable faces all of a sudden?
hehe hi~
aww, thank you so much! you’ve giving the fluffies just reading this
and such a cute request, i’ve played around with your idea a little bit; i hope you all enjoy!
cheers
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Lan Sizhui
you can’t help but kiss Sizhui the way that you do
that is
kiss, kiss, kiss, & more kisses
all over his face
he was just
so darn cute
too cute for you to just sit and stare at
Sizhui would always laugh, a little bit breathless at your actions even though you were the one that was kissing him
he’d rest his arms around your waist, leaning down to a reachable height for you to wrap your arms comfortably around his neck to kiss away
and when you’re done, or at least when he finds a pause in your kissing attack
Sizhui would tug you into his chest, wrap his arms tightly around you
(you almost couldn’t move, just wiggle around)
and place one solid, lingering kiss at the crown of your head
it’s not as many as the kisses that you pepper all over his face
but it is one that feels
almost equal
to the love that you give him
each and every time
Lan Jingyi
he’s just like a human dog
peppering kisses from Jingyi would be slobbery and slightly annoying
because this probably be his favorite way to annoy you
but you’re laughing in his arms as he places kiss after kiss all over you
from the top of your blinking eyes
to the edges of your laughing mouth
and he’d especially like the press big long, obnoxious kisses on your cheeks
and when you’ve finally had enough
by either wiggling in his arms and keeping your (slightly wet) face away
or landing a solid hand over his lips
he loves watching the way that the smile lights up your eyes
and the pink tint of your cheeks
when you stare at Jingyi
you can’t help but fall more in love
and you love most
the feeling of his wide smile
behind your hand
Jin Ling
he’d always splutter whenever you suddenly pepper kisses all over his face
because when you do you tend to squish his face in between your hands and kiss him at every possible place on his face
there is no order
it is just kissy chaos
and although he loves it when you surprise him with kisses this way
he’ll never
ever
let you know
(because what if you kissed him even more!
how would his heart take it???)
anyhow, he’ll make an effort to ‘put up’ with your kisses very moodily and grumpily
but afterwards when you’re finished,
and still hold his warm face in your hands
you can feel his blush under your palms
and it makes you want to lean in and press even more kisses against his skin
but he does the favor of leaning in to capture your lips
now it’s his turn
Ouyang Zizhen
there is a meticulous way, that Zizhen likes to kiss you
especially when he peppers kisses along your face
he starts first,
at the tip of your nose
loving the surprise that he catches in your eyes whenever he does this
then puckers his lips and begins to circle upward, from your cheekbones, around your eyes,
he lingers right at the corners of them,
likes the feeling of your eyelashes just grazing against the side of his own face
one slobbery kiss he’ll place on your forehead, sometimes, just because his prankster side shows up
and one peck at your chin
and then
the tease he becomes
is towards the end
where he circles
every
single
place
besides your lips
and you have to be the one to catch his face at just the right angle to finally get a taste of his lips
but the chase that you both partake in
is so so worth it
when your lips finally meet

Do you think it is a certainty that Jiang Cheng DID hunt down to torture and kill Demonic Cultivators regardless of innocence, or do you think that the rumors are probably exaggerated and he maybe only did it the one time or never at all?
The insomnia times are upon me, so here we go:
a) In the show, I don’t think there’s really any grounds to think it’s true. You can certainly read it in if you want to! Jin Ling has a line that could be alluding to it. But I don’t think, based on show canon alone, it’s a natural inference.
b) in the book, I don’t think we do know, and I think that’s part of the point. The story is in large part about the impossibility of knowing the whole truth of someone else’s experience. Wei Wuxian is misunderstood and scapegoated; he misunderstands in turn. We’re in his head for most of the book, and he (and the narrator) actively mislead us on several occasions. Jiang Cheng is pretty consistently the subject of that narrative bait and switch! Wei Wuxian tells us that being struck with a discipline whip is shameful, and reserved for severe transgressions. He adds that he’s never been beaten with one but Jiang Cheng has, and that no matter how desperately Jiang Cheng tried he couldn’t erase the scars. This gives us an early impression of Jiang Cheng as a person who committed a terrible transgression against his sect and then was unwilling to live with the consequences of his actions. Later on we find out that that initial impression is wrong, and Wen Chao was the one who beat him after he was captured. At the end of the story we learn that not even Wei Wuxian knows the whole truth, and Jiang Cheng has those scars because he gave himself up to be tortured so Wei Wuxian wouldn’t be. We don’t get the full story, and then we find out that Wei Wuxian couldn’t have given it to us anyway.
c) based on what we know of the justice system in Ancient Magical China it is actually Jiang Cheng’s job to decide whether demonic cultivation is legal or not in Yunmeng and what the penalty should be if it isn’t. Capital punishment is very normalized in their society. There is no separation of powers. Jiang Cheng is the guy you call if your neighbour is terrorizing you with zombies and also the guy who has to decide what the punishment for terrozing your neighbour with zombies is. I would not be surprised if it is both extremely illegal and bad for your health to terrorize your neighbour with zombies in Yunmeng. On the other hand, per b, I would also not be surprised if the situation was considerably more complicated, because Jiang Cheng is a very conflicted and not always particularly stable person. I do think the idea that he’s hunting people down for using innocent inventions is pretty unlikely. If Lan Qiren is down with the juniors using the spirit attracting flags, they do not count as demonic cultivation, and I’d imagine most things in that category don’t either. The demonic cultivator with the lowest body count we meet is Mo Xuanyu, and he summoned what he may well have thought was the vengeful spirit of a mass murderer, bound said spirit to slaughter his family on pain of his soul being destroyed, and then turned him loose on the rest of the world. I support him, but it’s a public safety issue and I can admit that.
d) I also think he probably hits demonic cultivators with Zidian, because Zidian dispels possessions. That would a be pretty easy detail for a non cultivator to miss, and we know how the rumour mill works in their universe.
e) Honestly I should have just answered with this, but: Jiang Cheng didn’t kill anyone, because Jiang Cheng isn’t real, and you should enjoy whatever version of the character is the most fun for you. It’s 2020 go to wild and find your bliss where you can. You want to imagine him brutally torturing people to death? I hope it brings you joy. You think he has been saving and rehabilitating demonic cultivators because he couldn’t save his brother? You have more textual support than the the wedding clothes scene did after the narrator went on about how eternally at odds Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian were, but Jiang Cheng still showed up with soup and Yanli and nephew naming rights. Go wild!
f) fic where the juniors abolish capital punishment end feudalism and establish a utopia.

The Irwin Agenda Chapter 1
Summary:
Lan Wangji is pleased that his brother and Wei Ying seem to be getting along like a house on fire. Lan Xichen is most grateful for Master Wei’s help. Lan Qiren is just happy that for once it seems like Wei Wuxian is keeping out of trouble and is optimistic that Gusu Lan has finally managed to tame the beast. Unfortunately, he should have learned not to count his chickens before they hatched… and he really should have been focusing on taming a very different sort of beast. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13942581/1/The-Irwin-Agenda
Chapter 1 - Lan Xichen starts a project.
Disclaimer: I do not own MDZS/The Untamed.
--------------------------
“Ah Wangji, there you are.”
“Xiongzhang. 😲 What are you doing here? Is something wrong?”
“No no, nothing at all other than, you know, the obvious. I’m sure you don’t need to hear all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down.”
“What?”
“Nevermind.”
He cleared his throat, “Anyway I really came here to look for Wei Wuxian.”
Wangji blinked, indicating surprise.
“What does brother need with Wei Ying?”
“Hmm let’s just say I need his… expertise.”
Wangji’s eyes widened almost imperceptibly. “Brother isn’t thinking of….”
“Don’t be silly Wangji. I would never.” He’d leave the demonic cultivation and zombie best friends to Wei Wuxian, thank you very much. No, Lan Xichen needed him for a different type of expertise.
“Sect Leader Jiang visited the other day with Sect Leader Jin. He mentioned something to me and I need Wei Wuxian’s expert opinion.”
“You saw Sect Leader Jiang?” Wangji said, surprised once more.
“Indeed. We had tea while the kids were out doing whatever kids do when the adults aren’t watching. ” Technically they were young adults but, semantics.
Wangji’s mouth pursed slightly. He always looked like he’d bitten into a lemon whenever Sect Leader Jiang was mentioned (or present).
“Does Jiang Wanyin not know that brother is in seclusion?”
He frowned, “Wangji, you may not like him, but he is a sect leader. You ought to show due courtesy. Besides, I invited him.”
Lan Wangji was stunned. Why would his brother, who made it a point these days to avoid as many people as possible, take time from seclusion to have tea with Jiang Wanyin? He knew Xichen wasn’t in full seclusion, he’d come out for the banquet and other events important to the clan, but on a day to day basis the seclusion still stood. Which was why he was surprised Xichen was in the Jingshi to begin with, let alone looking for Wei Ying. Now he hears he’s been having tea with Wei Ying’s insufferable ex-shidi? What was the world coming to?
“Don’t look at me like that,” said Lan Xichen, “I’m perfectly capable of taking guests if I want to. And not all of us share your feelings about Sect Leader Jiang.”
Well, he could acknowledge that as true so he said nothing.
“Anyway, do you know where I might find Wei Wuxian?” continued Lan Xichen.
“Wei Ying is probably with the rabbits,” answered Lan Wangji. It was normal when he was busy with paperwork that Wei Ying would find other ways to amuse himself. The juniors were away on a night-hunt so the next best bet was the rabbits as Wei Ying was not currently occupied with any inventions.
“Thank you Wangji, I’ll see myself out.”
------------
Wei Wuxian was indeed with the rabbits. His stubborn donkey was unhappily chewing at a patch of grass next to him while the rabbits cowered away from the both of them.
He perked up upon spotting Lan Xichen. “Brother in law, what brings you here!”
“Well,” he said amused, “I might be here to relieve your boredom.”
Wei Wuxian sprung up excitedly. “What do you have planned?”
“A-Yuan said that you once managed to raise lotuses in the Burial Mounds.” “Yes, did you want me to help you grow some here?” It would make sense that Lan Xichen needed his help. Neither the Burial Mounds nor Cloud Recesses had the right environment for lotuses to grow. What Wei Wuxian did was ingenious and altogether unheard of. The Burial Mounds was inhospitable to life in general although, even if it wasn’t, lotuses wouldn’t have grown there; but Wei Wuxian made it happen. He could certainly make it happen here too in the cold, mountainous Cloud Recesses.
“Well you’re on the right track! But...not exactly, ” said Lan Xichen.
----------
“Right well, I understand what it is you mean now,” said Wei Wuxian. He inspected the drawing. Lan Xichen had worked diligently to capture what he envisioned on paper. The problem now was making it happen.
“Do you have a place where we could do this?” enquired Wei Wuxian. He was so intrigued. If he could pull this off he would be impressed with himself. It would take a large area and it would be a lot of hard work.
“Yes, I believe I do. The back of the Hanshi has a lot of forest. I was thinking I could clear a big enough space. Nothing will go to waste either because we can use the wood from the trees to fence off the area.”
“Great,” Wei Wuxian said, clapping his hands decisively, “Let’s get to work then!”
--------
Lan Qiren was pleased. It had been a whole five months since Wei Wuxian had caused any sort of disturbance. And he was actually rising in the morning with the Lans now! And eating their food! Wonder of wonders!
He still was unabashedly clingy towards Lan Wangji but that made Wangji happy so, as much as it irked Lan Qiren to see their shameless displays, he would tolerate it...as long as the other rules were followed.
Lan Qiren always suspected his nephew was slipping alcohol to Wei Wuxian, though he could never prove it, but these days it appeared that Wei Wuxian was surprisingly sober most of the time. Lan Qiren didn’t even get a whiff of alcohol! For the first few weeks of this newfound adherence to the rules he was in a state of heightened panic. He kept waiting for the other shoe to drop with each day that passed without any of Wei Wuxian’s shenanigans. But as the days went by he started to relax.
He attributed this change of behaviour to his first nephew, who Wei Wuxian had been spending a lot of time with lately. Wangji was blinded by love and so he indulged Wei Wuxian too much, but Xichen had a clear head. He must be acting as a good influence on Wei Wuxian. He hoped this behaviour continued. It was a sign that finally, finally his days of peace might return permanently.
Xichen was interacting with people again (well, only his immediate family and for some reason, Sect Leaders Jiang and Jin… but still, it was more progress than some people made in an entire lifetime --looking at you Qingheng-Jun 😒-- and no, he was not bitter at all, whatever would give you that idea?). Wangji  seemed happy in general (as opposed to him moping around for the past 13 years in mourning clothes). And Wei Wuxian, that feral little gremlin, was actually following the rules!
Oh happy day!
He went to class with a pep in his step.
His students were noticeably happier as well because Lan Qiren in a good mood could only benefit them. He even removed the no interacting with Wei Wuxian rule from the wall, which is the one most of them broke constantly! The students rejoiced. Things were peaceful in the Cloud Recesses. Life was good.
----------
Lan Wangji was a happy man. He was married to the love of his life. His brother was getting better day by day, and got along well with his husband. And his uncle seemed like he’d finally come around to Wei Ying. He felt touched the day Uncle removed the rule forbidding interaction with Wei Ying. He knew that his uncle did not like him, even before the whole Yiling Patriarch thing. But he didn’t forbid them from living in Cloud Recesses. Sure he was not pleased that Uncle wrote a rule against Wei Ying on the wall, but it didn’t stop the juniors from interacting with him anyway and really only served to give Uncle some peace of mind that he did what he could to stop Wei Wuxian from “corrupting” the kids. Uncle needed to feel like he had some semblance of control so, aside from his initial protests, Lan Wangji did not fight him down on it. It wouldn’t stop him from giving Wei Ying a happy life anyway, so let Uncle have his rules.
Lan Wangji knew that his brother supported his relationship and that was enough. He couldn’t help but admit though that Uncle’s support meant a lot to him. He wondered what prompted the change of heart, since Uncle had had a grudge against Wei Ying since their school days and wasn’t the type of man to change his opinions that easily. He wasn’t so brave yet to ask him about it though for fear of ruining things, so he just accepted it.
Wei Ying himself had not noticed a thing. He was busy helping xiongzhang with his project. It was taking a long time because they had to do everything from scratch. Wei Ying didn’t have time to spare. He was matching brother’s schedule so that they could work together more efficiently. He didn’t even drink his favourite Emperor’s Smile these days because he didn’t want to lose focus. Even the food! Usually Lan Wangji would have enough time to make Wei Ying breakfast because...breakfast was usually lunch . But now Wei Ying got up to match the Lans and so he ended up eating breakfast with them too so as not to wait for a meal to be cooked and waste time. He was so tired at the end of the day he didn’t even complain about it, he just fell into bed at 9pm and that was that.
It really cut into the time they had together since they were both so busy but it was for his brother, who had stood by him after Wei Ying’s death for all those years and allowed him his freedom to go ‘where the chaos was’ as they said. He even helped him hide Wei Ying even though he thought Wei Ying was guilty. If this was what would help brother recover his spirits then Lan Wangji would not protest.
In fact, this little project of theirs helped his brother and Wei Ying to become closer. Rather than just accepting Wei Ying, his brother was actually forming a friendship with him. He even told him to call him Xichen-ge. He was impressed with Wei Ying’s ingenuity and grateful that he was going out of his way to help him when he really didn’t have to.
And as much as Lan Wangji loved Wei Ying, he still wasn’t much of a conversationalist, with Wei Ying doing most of the talking and himself, the listening. But with xiongzhang, Wei Ying found someone who was willing to debate with him and could easily carry a conversation. And brother found a friend who he could rely on. After Jin Guangyao’s betrayal, he thought that brother would never befriend anyone again. He may not ever be as close to Wei Ying as he was with Jin Guangyao, but it was a start.
Unfortunately, there was one downside to the project.
Somehow, the person who gave Lan Xichen the idea was *ugh* Sect Leader Jiang. What this meant was that the man in question would make frequent visits to see how it was coming along, providing them with insights as well. It irked him because Wei Ying and xiongzhang had insisted that the project was a secret. They promised they’d tell him before anyone else when it was completed and they’d asked him to cover for them and not let anyone on to what they were doing in the meantime.
Being a dutiful husband and brother he respected their wishes. It would have been fine if Jiang Wanyin had not been in on it. It chafed that he could not be there helping Wei Ying but instead it was Jiang Wanyin. He did not protest because Wei Ying still valued Jiang Wanyin and he would not do anything to upset Wei Ying, but that didn’t mean he had to like it. And since the project seemed to have helped Jiang Wanyin and Wei Ying reconcile, he was sure once all the work was done and Wei Ying wasn’t too tired to socialise, that he’d be forced to interact even more with the man, which he was dreading.
But of course he would endure it for Wei Ying. Sect Leader Jin was also involved somehow but the days when he visited made Wei Ying so happy that Lan Wangji could not begrudge his involvement in the project. Lan Jingyi and Lan Sizhui were also happy to meet with the young sect leader. Lan Wangji could not be upset when it made his family so happy. No, he would stay unaware for as long as they needed him to. Wei Ying was right after all, he would not be able to lie if uncle asked him directly about what they were doing. So he had to stay in the dark.
(But still, damn you Sect Leader Jiang! Why did it have to be you?.. No, he was not sulking!)

Alternate canon idea: JYL is also present at the burning of Lotus Pier, and while JC and WWX escape like in canon, she is captured early on in the battle. JC and WWX manage to rescue her, but not before the damage is done - Wen Chao rapes her and she falls pregnant. Also in the process, JC loses his golden core and is tortured like in canon while drawing attention from WWX so he can get JYL out. They find a hiding place with Wen Ning and Wen Qing, and JYL gets sent to Meishan Yu to hide (1/?)
out before WWX enacts his golden core transfer plan, so she doesn't know about it. She stays at Meishan Yu until she has the baby, worried sick about WWX who has disappeared and JC, and doesn't realize she is pregnant until it's too late to be safe to abort. She has the baby, but can't bear to mother it, and leaves it with a wetnurse to join the support group of the sunshot campaign. Canon of the sunshot campaign happens as usual after this, and JZY falls in love with JYL and proposes. (2/?)
JYL's feelings about the baby are still mixed, but she has been visiting him w/ WWX since the campaign ended, although JC refuses to join them. However, now that JZX has proposed, the marriage is very important to the future of Yunmeng Jiang and they can't have JGS's spies sniffing out the existence of the baby. WWX gets the idea to hide him w/ the Wen remnants, who haven't been taken by the Jins yet, and hides him w/ WN and WQ. JYL doesn't get to see her baby anymore. (3/?)
Then things go south. Like in canon, before the marriage, WWX discovers the Jins have kidnapped the Wens from WQ, and now he's double mad - he loves his nephew despite his birth, and takes the Wen remnants to the burial mounds where he can keep him safe. The argument between JC and WWX is even worse when JC refuses to acknowledge the baby as his nephew and help protect him. JYL can't get involved or risk the secret getting out. Canon events follow to WWX death, but before he dies (4/?)
he hides the baby in a hollow tree, where he hopes A-Yuan will be safe. A distraut LWJ, who has no knowledge of A-Yuan's origins finds him and takes him back to Gusu to raise as his son. 13 years later, WWX returns to find a lan sect junior with his sister's smile. JC also knows LSZ's origins, but keeps is secret - looking at the kid makes him rage, but he knows it's what his sister would have wanted. LWJ and WWX get together and LSZ remembers his last as a Wen, but WWX doesn't tell him (5/?)
JYL being his mother, because he thinks the kid doesn't need the horror story of his conception hanging over his head. He finds out this was a mistake when he discovers LSZ and JL kissing. He yells at them to stop, and JL yells back because how can WWX be upset that they're cutsleeves when he's married to LWJ?! LSZ is devastated WWX doesn't accept his relationship. WWX has to sit the kids down and reveal the truth - they're half brothers and so they can't be together. LSZ cries for days. (7/7)
Please excuse me while I go cry

A Hundred Minus One Day, by RavenclawLoki
What happened when Lan Wangji gets Wei Wuxian to Gusu, keeps him safe, and hides him there while Wei Wuxian is unconscious.
Can't Stop Myself From Loving You, by Surprised_by_witches
What is it about Wei Wuxian?
I AM CONFUSION!!, by Vmprbnny (2 chapters)
"So... Who is this Hanguang-jun??.." He asked hoping to open a good conversation and to make the juniors relax too. It seems like they're all about to cry.
"Here... You might need this..." Jin Ling said as he handed him an emperor smile.
'Oh you may look like Zixuan but I like you better than him'
He happily accepted it.
Or Wei Wuxian is confused as to why he woke up in Cloud Recesses...
Important Distinctions, by nagi_blue
Father arched an eyebrow and lifted his chin.
Jingyi said, “Hanguang-jun would like to respectfully state that he thinks you are a punk-ass bitch.”
“Lan Jingyi!” another Lan disciple hissed, horrified.
“He said it with his eyes,” Jingyi protested. “It’s Expression 321.”
Sizhui fished the book out of his qiankun pouch and flipped through it.
One of the Ouyang junior disciples sidled over to him and peered over his shoulder. “There really is a book.”

It's just a harmless and temporary curse. It wasn't anyone's fault, really. If anyone had a say in it, it would be the ones who got cursed. But really, they're fine and healthy and safe. In three days, everything will be back to normal.
There was nothing to worry about. All was well.
"Gege! Gege! A-Cheng hit A-Ying!"
"I did not!"
"Did too!"
Gods, help these poor juniors.
How Do You Know?, by Warrion
Lan Zhan is in pain. Wei Ying helps but his husband finds out information he didn't know before.
Death May Serve You, by Nilaic
"Now, Lan Zhan…"
A choked laugh clawed up his throat, out his mouth with the blood that flowed.
"...Why are you crying?"
Lan Zhan sat still, his knees soaked in the blood pool beneath them. The pool of Wei Ying's blood.
Pair – annoy Ya!, by Moya_Tsarista
"It is not requisite for anyone to express their emotions for each other. The way they are treating you informs you a good amount."
This was one of the Gusu clan's beliefs, and Lan Wangji had wholeheartedly consented to it.
Now that Wei Ying had revealed his wish to have him express his love, he would undoubtedly acknowledge his request.
to hell and back for you, by blumeraki
Wei Wuxian twisted his head back, and if his vision clouded he ignored it in return for reassuring Lan Zhan. Oh, Lan Zhan how I wish things could be different. Despite the way acid churned in his stomach and the thought of being in the hands of the Wens actually nauseated him, Wei Wuxian called back cheerfully, “Don’t worry, Lan Zhan! They probably won’t even be able to stand me for one night, I'll be back in no time!”
“Wei Ying. Please, come back to me.”
Lan Zhan’s voice was so raw that the tears that Wei Wuxian had been trying to hold back for so long now wasted no time as they leaped forward, cascading down to his chin.
Wei Wuxian didn’t care, he let himself go. His fate had already been sealed anyway. “Promise me you’ll wait for me, Lan Zhan.”
Lan Zhan swallowed, eyes flickering desperately across his face, to the Wens, then back to his face. “Forever. I’ll wait forever if that is what it takes to see Wei Ying again.”

The Red String, by Lisa_Telramor
Wei Wuxian's red string is a source of comfort. Lan Wangji doesn't know how to feel about his at first.
Hickeys, by Speechless_since_1998
Yanli knew her brother had a relationship.
The problem was that A-Ying didn't recognize that what he had with Lan Zhan was an actual relationship.
For her little brother, Lan Zhan was just a friend.
Hard to believe when they acted like a married couple.
Honestly, Yanli didn't understand what was holding them back: A-Ying always spoke highly of his roommate, with a light in his eye that couldn't be confused with anything but love.
And Lan Zhan looked at him as if he had taken the moon and given it to him. They were so cute, but there was no progress!
Or so she thought.

Wei Ying is napping. Lan Zhan makes sure he's comfortable.

Oh Wei Ying. He had never seen anything the colour of the fire in that boy’s eyes, a golden glowing aura that stood him out from everyone else, even when they were all dressed the same.

Bright Voice Roughly Rendered Softly Silent, by Preludian_Staves
The fight between Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian after the Fall of Lotus Pier goes differently, changing the course of events that should follow, but now don't.
Lan Wangji goes looking for the boy that captured his heart. (Also known as Wei Wuxian goes to the Gusu Lan earlier than in canon)
A Triptych Of Cloud Recesses, by highgarden
What could he say?
I think my brother has a crush on your brother and he’s being an obsessive little freak? That Wei Wuxian doesn’t understand boundaries because he loses his mind every time he gazes upon the face of the Second Jade of Lan, which also looks so much like your own face, by the way? Please don’t be offended that my brother could very well be a cutsleeve and is corrupting your perfect sibling for the worse each second they spend together?
Each passing thought sent Jiang Cheng further and further into dismay, the revulsion plainly showing on his face.

Dearly Detested: Grooms in Hate, by kokobako
The Yiling Patriarch hates Hanguang Jun, the Chief Cultivator, and the feelings are mutual. This is a well-known fact in the Cultivation World. However, everyone is taken by shock when Hanguang Jun turns up at the gates of the Burial Mounds with a betrothal proposal. The worst part of it all is that the Yiling Patriarch accepts! Why are these two men, who detest each other so, marrying each other?!
Not everything is what it seems like.
