My fandom5k requests/prompts (all MDZS variants)

Request 1: MDZS novel

Characters/Pairings: Cángsè Sǎnrén/Lán Qǐrén/Wèi Chǎngzé (MDZS) Character: Lan Qiren (MDZS) Lán Qǐrén & Wèi Yīng | Wèi Wúxiàn (MDZS) Lan Qiren/Nie Huaisang (MDZS) Lán Huàn | Lán Xīchén & Lán Qǐrén (MDZS)

Prompt:

I would love some Lan Qiren-centric hurt/comfort or darkfic, though with a happy (satisfying?) ending. Just about any pairing would be good! I typically prefer canon-divergence plots, but whole shift AUs other than mundane modern AUs are also OK (if they're cool).

General LQR notes: I like him with both good aspects and bad: he's rigid, hierarchical, and conservative, often kind of boring, with a temper he can't always control, but I read him as someone who genuinely loves his nephews and wants them to be happy, who is a good teacher when he's given a chance to be, and who is always trying to do the right thing. Personally, I tend to headcanon both LQR and LWJ as being on the autistic spectrum with a special interest in Lan rules, but you don't need to go with that. Feel free to go wild with backstory or sidestory here (for instance, in canon he is very good with the sword and trained LXC and LWJ; feel free to lean into that, or lean away from that! give him something else he's good at! give him additional character traits or hobbies or whatever that were only not mentioned because they weren't relevant to Wei Wuxian's journey!) ALSO: feel free to give him any relationship you want with Qingheng-jun and the whole getting married

However, please do not portray Lan Qiren's devotion to his sect rules as being wrong or something he has to overcome - he is following the instructions for being a good person left down by his ancestors, they are important to him, and the idea should be treated generally with respect; even if you want to have him disagreeing with one of the rules, it should be in a specific context, not "everything I grew up valuing is wrong actually". Similarly, his dislike of WWX should not be treated as "oh because he's conservative he's homophobic and that's the only reason he dislikes him", but based on his experiences with WWX and what WWX has done.

H/C: I would love, love, love something where LQR gets hurt and someone has to rescue him, but in a way that is centered around worrying about and caring for LQR. I've seen too many "WWX rescues LQR with his demonic cultivation thereby forcing LQR to admit he's not that bad" scenarios! or "LQR is hurt but the other person is so worried about him that the entire fic is now about the other person's trauma about people they love being hurt"! Do not want! Give me "wow guess I really do care about LQR" and "ouch LQR has been through so much I never realized I want to give him good things"!

Suggestions: - LQR gets captured and tortured after the burning of the Cloud Recesses or during the Sunshot Campaign, and either needs a rescue at the time OR never really had time to deal with the aftereffects of that and needs help after - something based on him coughing up blood and falling into a coma in canon when he heard WWX's bad flute music? is he super sensitive to sound? was he hurt by something in the past to cause it? something happens in post-canon that aggravates old issues he had? bad memories? - the hurt doesn't have to be something physical, could be emotional - something when he was younger and suddenly a parent to two kids and leading a sect? something about being unappreciated or undervalued? Darkfic (interpreted as "dead dove" style "I am reveling in bad things" fic, NOT angsty/sad/bad end): Similar to the above, just darker, I am fully here for "character is obsessed with LQR and is willing to do anything it takes to make him theirs" plots.

Suggestions: - CSSR and WCZ decide they've seen enough and it's time to kidnap LQR and teach him a new set of rules - NHS gets hold of the ability to hypnotize people, decides to fuck with LQR for fun, then ends up developing feelings - LXC, being old enough to see more of the dynamics between LQR and his father/his mother, decides he loves his uncle so much he's willing to destroy everything else to ensure his uncle's happiness (and maybe has a very twisted idea of what constitutes happiness) - WWX in a full Yiling Patriarch Dark Emperor AU who after marrying LWJ grows fond of the rigid rule-abiding uncle that LWJ brought along and decides to get to know him better? - Gangster AU (fantastical/not modern)? LQR as the only non-gangster Lan with LXC taking care of him? mob princess NHS deciding he wants his old ethics teacher? new mob boss WWX deciding the best way to deal with DA!LQR is to parent trap him together with his mob boss parents CSSR and WCZ?

DNW: no adultery/infidelity, no permanent limb/sense/memory loss, no unhappy ending for characters (it can be "bad end" as long as it is satisfying - i.e. original LQR would be horrified but current version LQR is OK with it), no LQR bashing, no character bashing generally, no generic modern AU (only specific AUs OK), no Lan sect rule bashing, no "Madame Lan did nothing wrong/did something justified and was unjustly imprisoned for it"

Request 2: MDZS Donghua

Characters/Pairings: Lan Huan & Lan Zhan (MDZS)

Prompt:

I love the Twin Jades - the way they love each other, the way they understand each other, the way LWJ is allowed to be a little spoiled in his way, the way LXC wants to make LWJ more friends. They have their shared trauma with their parents, but they each take away fascinatingly different meanings from it. They're so much fun! especially in the donghua, where we get to see them fight side by side in such a beautiful, flowing, coordinated fashion - love that, would love to see more of that.

Notes: Please write them having a good relationship with LQR (especially in donghua-verse, where we see him backing LWJ up against a sect elder and helping LWJ recruit people, talking with LXC as an equal when he returns from Qinghe in season 1, etc.) Also please do not write the Lan sect rules as something wrong or bad that they need to overcome, or as something they feel trapped by, but as a tradition that they've been raised in and respect, and voluntarily as adults choose to continue carrying on and passing down. For what it's worth, I headcanon LWJ (and LQR) as being on the autistic spectrum with Lan sect rules as a special interest, which must have been super interesting for LXC, but don't feel like you have to go with that.

Honestly, for this one, I'd really love a genre shift AU of some sort (but NOT modern/mundane AU). The donghua is so vividly designed, I'd love to imagine the aesthetics carrying over to another setting. Suggestions: - pirate AU - space opera AU - mob bosses AU (fantastical, not modern) - cyberpunk robots/sentient ship AU - historical non-magic setting AU - everyone is a dragon AU

As for plot, anything will do - slice of life, procedural/case solving, interpersonal drama, hurt/comfort, whatever! Just as long as LXC & LWJ continue to love each other and be good brothers to each other. No darkfic for this one, please.

DNW: no bad parent LQR, no Lan sect rule bashing, no "Madame Lan did nothing wrong/did something justified and was unjustly imprisoned for it", no adultery/infidelity, no permanent limb/sense/memory loss, no unhappy ending for characters, no character bashing generally, no generic modern AU, no permanent breach of relationship between LXC and LWJ (or with LQR)

Prompt:

Now that it's over, he finds he's not willing to give up the one person who supported him in all that time. - JC had only one acknowledged older male role model/authority figure approve of him and like him better than WWX, ever, and that fact has just been there rotting away in his brain for years until he decides to take matters into his own hands - mob AU (fantastical/not modern)? emperor AU? reverse sugar daddy AU where someone is paying for LQR (in canon setting!)? - some other character of your choice/LQR, same idea

I will NOT age up Minors for NSFW asks. So don't even ask for a Minor character aged up for NSFW. SFW is fine.

I like writing smut typically, but i like writing other things too. Im an adult, so drug/alcohol related asks are completely fine.

I will NOT write for- Bathroom related kinks, abuse of any kind, hyper anything, and dead dove content.

I very much prefer to avoid such content, so please don't send me anything like that.

and the way that the child’s eyes light up with each song that you sing

makes Sizhui’s heart swell so much

that he can’t help but lean over and place a gentle kiss on your cheek

it startles you

a happy surprise

when you turn to look at him, still bouncing the little boy in your arms, you’re a little winded by the pure look of love when your eyes lock

you find yourself gravitating to him naturally, though this time you place a kiss right on his nose

it is clear that you both want to kiss each other very much

but there was a child,

and said child, sat in the middle of you both, has his hands covering his eyes, ears red just like a certain Lan

Lan Jingyi

the giggling around you is what makes you both break away from the kiss

first out of curiosity

then settled embarrassment

even as a senior disciple now,

Lan Jingyi was not as intimidating as his title

especially when he was caught kissing you

“jie-jie and ge-ge sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g” the young Lan disciples sing song in a circle around you, making faces and laughing as Jingyi huffs and tries to get them to settle down

the blush on your face is high and red,

you can’t help but take your long robes and cover your face with your hands

at the sight of you, Jingyi simply laughs louder,

can’t hide the smile on his face

he ignores all the teasing and pointing from the younger disciples to take you into his arms,

to let you hide your face in his chest

wrapped so tightly in his hug does little to help the redness on your cheeks

but you don’t leave his arms anyways

Jin Ling

the taste of the hawthorn candies is sweet on your lips,

and Jin Ling’s hand is where it cradles your face

and clearly kissing on the sidelines of a marketplace is not really the place to be

but Jin Ling couldn’t help it,

not when your lips were shiny from the coating of the caramelized sugar

not when your eyes were lit up little a child at the very first bite

not when you looked absolutely adorable

“ge, is that how you’re supposed to eat the candies?”

the little girl’s voice is genuinely curious, pointing at the sight of you and Jin Ling, lips locked near the candy stand

the taller boy cringes, pats the little girl’s head as he takes her hand to lead her away

“no, that’s how adults eat them”

Ouyang Zizhen

Zizhen’s lips had always been a distraction to you

but when he’s kissing you,

it completely makes you forget about everything else

it’s the loud gagging noise near by that makes you break away from Zizhen’s lips

even then, he still chases after your lips naturally

and you have to catch his face with your hands to get him to open his eyes again

you both turn to the side to see none other than your younger cousins,

when the six year olds meet your eyes, the boys proceed to make even more exaggerated puking and grossed out sounds

and you huff at them, ready to go and give them lecture,

when your boyfriend’s arms wrap around your waist,

hold you back,

hold you close

his breath is warm where it tickles your neck,

“let’s go somewhere a little more private,”

and you can’t help but follow

May I request a MDZS scenario with Nie Mingjue, Jin Guangyao, and Lan Xichen with a soulmate darling where injuries are shared, but only darling is soulmates with the trio not them with each other? (Like if NMJ and JGY get injured, darling gets those injuries but they don’t get each others’ injuries, and if darling gets injured then they all get injured? RIP darling gets the worst of it here haha) Also if possible can it be of how they found out about it?

Of course!! I’ll test out my new format here with more than one character scenarios.

In the topic of soul mates, I want to rank them based on how interested they are to find out who their soulmate is, least to most is Nie Mingjue, Lan Xichen, and Jin Guangyao. Starting off small and then working up, I think that Nie Mingjue is interested but it’s not his top priority you know? His soulmate doesn’t get hurt often, but he does. This man loves a good spar and war so please get health insurance because you’re gonna need it. The most you’ll get hurt would be maybe a small trip here and there, but you? Abdominal pain, broken limbs, etc. If you don’t die from the physical pain, you’re dying from mental exhaustion cuz wtf. Lan Xichen would probably be the one who rarely gets hurt, but when he feels your pain he’d pray that you’re safe and sound, hopefully the pain is only temporary. When he gets hurt, he’d do all he can to treat it asap because he doesn’t want you to suffer more than needed. Jin Guangyao though. . .nah he’s a menace. The moment you’d get hurt and he feels it, he’d question the source of your pain. Then he’d return it ten-fold. You burned your hand on a pot while cooking? Poor you :(( and here Jin Guangyao is currently dangling his arm over an open flame hoping you get burned more.

It would be funny, I can see them being in the same room as each other and all of the sudden one hisses. Nie Mingjue turns to Lan Xichen with concern as does Jin Guangyao. Nie Mingjue has a high pain tolerance so he didn’t notice it. Jin Guangyao did, but he didn’t think much about it, until Lan Xichen mentions, “sorry, just light stinging on my finger.” Funny. . .that’s where Jin Guangyao felt his pain. . .he’s about to get scientific. He’d conduct experiments where he causes himself pain to see if anyone feels it. Nobody does so he thinks it’s just a coincidence until a few weeks later he feels a stinging on his knee. He sees Nie Mingjue massage his knee, a curious Jin Guangyao asks and he responds with, “nothing just knee pain.” Oh? Interesting. Going along with trying to find his S/O, he’d try his best to be observant. Taking into accounts the pain levels and location from your side. He’ll try to find your profession and locate you. When he has his suspicions, he’d injure himself to see if you react. If you do then he got his S/O, but then he’d hurt you. On accident of course he has a face to maintain and then he sees that Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue also react, interesting.

He’d probably tell Lan Xichen about his findings and what he makes of it. After believing and seeing it, they both sit Nie Mingjue to tell him the news. Finally, all three of them have found you, their soulmate. They would agree to share, one having you a week/month, they’ll work out the technicalities later. Since they can feel your pain, they’ll have to be careful about what they do to you. Jin Guangyao would probably hurt himself just for you to feel it, Lan Xichen would soothe your pain, and Nie Mingjue would want to be your protector because he can’t have you in pain that can affect him can we? Also anon, does this apply to sex or nah because. . .that’s gonna be funny. . .

Hey! Hope you're having a wonderful day! This is a question just out of curiosity, but what are the top ten works on your to be written list?

If you mean the order of prompts/requests it would be this, I’m typically working on anywhere from 2 -3 requests fics and 1 self made prompt or prompts my horny partner in crime @imill gives me😂 at any given time. I typically chose which ever ones I’m in the mood for at the time and go from there, this is bit embarrassing though. I color coded them so I can check them off the list when they’re done:

Then you also have the times where I’m just struck by thirst and a specific scenario won’t stop bouncing around in my head like a dvd screen saver and it won’t let me think about anything else until I write it😭 which is what happened with the MDZS fic. But yeah I’m mostly working my way through requests at the moment🤔

MDZS Prompts Opening Oct 1 2021

All right! I am now moved and still unpacking, but I am mostly on track to finish my current set of MDZS prompts and am therefore tentatively planning to re-open prompts on or around Friday Oct 1 2021.

Prompts will probably be open for only a few hours - an hour or two in the morning and an hour or two in the afternoon/evening (EST) - to avoid getting too many prompts, so that I can open up again in a shorter time. Specific timing will be announced closer to day of.

In an effort to have slightly fewer prompts than last time, a few rules:

Each person should submit no more than 3 prompts. Please submit them as separate asks so that I can answer the prompt with a fic directly.

If you have either a username or an identifying mark (i.e. "space anon", "3 knife emojis", etc.), I will try my best to fill at least one of your prompts, though no promises. Totally anon prompts are also accepted, but may not get priority.

I accept requests for "extras" set in existing fic universes (especially the large ones, like Spilled Pearls), but will probably not write continuations of one-shot fics. Extras can include missing scenes, alternate paths a fic could have taken (i.e. what if X happened at this time instead of Y), or completely different things happening in the same universe.

No smut/PWP prompts - I will open for those prompts at another time.

Please try not to include an entire plot outline with beat-by-beat interactions laid out (i.e. "X does Thing to A and A reacts in this manner and that makes X do a thing and then X and A have a talk in which they get over it"). I love having specific scenarios as prompts, including weird or out of the box ones, but if you lay out an entire epic length series of events, I may not be able to fill it properly.

I generally do not write crossovers (characters from source A meet characters from source B), but I do sometimes write fusions - but only if I know the source material of the fusion. Feel free to ask if you don't know what I do or do not know.

I do write non-MDZS prompts, but please ask in advance if the fandom is one that I'm currently writing in.

Writing Preferences:

I generally prefer prompts focused on the 'adult' cast - Wei Wuxian's generation or the previous generation (Lan Qiren, etc.) - over the juniors or the Yi City crew, although I'm more willing to write about the latter two when dealing with their interactions with regular cast.

I mostly write canon divergence AUs or other types of AUs (trans character, supernatural heritage, secretly-a-X, etc.). I am willing to write modern AUs if they have a specialized genre (i.e. gangster AU), but no coffee shop/high school/regular people just hanging out in an anonymous suburb fic.

I will generally not write stories about infidelity, permanent amnesia, or dwelling on completely unresolved angst. Otherwise, anything goes - I like dark prompts (dubcon, mind control, bad end, power dynamics, etc.) as much as I do fluff or crack, and I accept all pairings, including age gaps, incest, etc. Feel free to send me your weird id fic requests as well as more regular ones.

This reminded me of that one post about dropping honourifics and keeping languages separate to make the text flow smoother and I'd like to put in my two cents as an Asian myself:

I've clowned on people who use oppa and unnie with random strangers but I genuinely feel uncomfortable if honourifics aren't used the way they are used in canon text or in that culture in general. Not using them in narration is one thing, but in dialogue it just feels wrong to take them out.

Like in malayalam, "edthi" is used for your sister by girls, "oppol" by guys and "chechi" for any unrelated lady. How on earth do you get the same impact across if you just use 'sister' or an 'excuse me'?

Like imagine if you replace "gege" in tgcf with "big bro" or "Xie Lian". Boom, 25% of the spirit of the novel goes bye bye.

And then we come to the dilemma of Jin Ling's Uncle. In my family, the aunts from your mother's father's side are called "chittashi" and those from your mother's mother's side are called "ichamma". Your aunts from father's mother's side is "achammal". (and stuff like chittamma which I'm pretty sure belongs to the great aunts, I gotta research that)

If I had to write "paternal aunt from father" or "maternal aunt from father" or some shit every single time I'd quit writing instantly.

oh god it's so good to see someone that like the bad guys as much as I do, these characters are so well done that it's really hard to hate them. (and also I relate to them more than I like to admit, especially xue yang 💀) in celebration to that, can I request some friends to lovers headcanons or scenario for jgy? maybe both of them bonding over the fact that they hate jgs haha thank you so much!!

Honestly, I've noticed a tendency where people who like the bad guys in MDZS are treated a little differently. Sooooo, not many people admit to liking them in the first place, but WE'RE HERE TO CHANGE THAT! 🙌 I totally feel that "I hate that I love you" y'know? And they are portrayed as inherently human. They make mistskes, they are selfish, but they weren't born evil, they became deranged under the pressure of society. That's why they are so relatable and just UGH. This became a rant, I'm sorry! Anyways, here is your daily dose of JGY love ❤️ Also, bonding over mutual hatred for JGS is my K.I.N.K.

Reminiscing

How very...odd.

Jin Guangyao was never one to trust blindly, or at all for that matter. Yet the more time you'd spend together, the more relenting he'd become.

A mere two years ago you were a runaway from an insignificant sect, finding solace and protection on Lanling grounds and now - his closest confidant and dearest friend along with Sect Leader Lan Xichen. No, you two were far beyond friendship. And looking back on it, he wasn't sure how it happened. What he did remember, however, was the moment he felt his heart skip a beat around you, the moment he knew you were much more than a dear friend.

The two of you were hidden away in the comfort of his chambers, you - cleaning and patching up the open wound on his forehead from the impact when his father threw him down the stairs. It was extremely embarrassing for him, how you were there to witness the peak of his humiliation, a father completely disregarding his son, going as far as to physically abuse him, the words he despised on his lips - Son of a Whore.

Yet you never showed any indignation or disgust, not towards him anyways. The nasty stare was directed towards Jin Guangshan the entire time. You'd sprinted towards Meng Yao, a metric ton of worry in your eyes. You'd stood by his side the entire time, while his father was slandering him. You couldn't do much to help, yet you stayed through it all. And the moment you'd noticed blood dripping from his head, you practically dragged him away.

And so there the two of you stood, sitting on the bed, you dabbing away the blood dripping down his forehead. And that's when he saw it - the smallest of tears in the corner of your eye, threatening to fall. They say the eyes are a window to the soul. As he was staring into the depth of yours, he realised it was true - for the first time, it was as if he'd seen the entirety of your heart reflect within them. You were never one to actively hide your emotions, but he'd always found himself questioning your motives. At that moment, though - it was as clear as it gets.

"A-Yao", you'd mumbled out his name, gently cupping his cheek. You sounded sad, angry, distressed, worried.

"You don't have to say anything.", he'd answered right back, his own hand resting on top of yours.

"One day. One day we'll make him pay for everything. He has no right to treat you like that. You're more of a man than he'll ever even dream of being. " your tone was hushed, careful, yet screamed anger. Meng Yao smiled at your words. So long you'd stayed by his side and even now you were relentless. "It won't be easy. He is the sect leader after all. He's the one holding the Jin name."

"So what? There's one of him and two of us. You re much more than you think, much smarter and much more resourseful. He won't stand a chance. One day justice will be served. Besides, I like your name much better. At least you're not hiding behind yours. "

That's when he realised - truly, he wasn't alone, not since he met you. You were ready to stay by his side until the very end. And at that moment he allowed himself to believe it. Without a second thought, he pulled you in for a gentle kiss, one you reciprocated almost immediately. You wrapped your hands around his neck, burying your fingers in his hair. He pulled you closer, resting his forehead gently on yours. You didn't need to say anything after that. This was your unspoken promise - a promise of a bright future, together.

As he stood atop his lonely throne, now proud leader of Lanling Jin, he couldn't help but reminisce about those days. He couldn't help but remember each and every challenge, every obstacle, all the pain the two of you endured together. At the end of it all - it had always been you. The only one who saw him for who he was. The only one who'd made all his walls crumble and all his masks burn. The one who loved him for everything he was and nothing more.

No, what had flourished between the two of you wasn't just love - it was respect, a mutual understanding exceeding the limit of "love". Or perhaps that's what love is.

"A-Yao, what is troubling your mind?", your soft voice pulled him out of his entrancing thoughts.

He turned to look at you - his biggest treasure, his strongest anchor and his only weakness. "Reminiscing." Your knowing smile sent shivers down his spine. You reached out and took hold of his hand, intertwining your fingers with his. Gently he brought your hand to his lips, leaving a kiss on your skin.

If this is what love is, then finally Jin Guangyao understood why it is worth dying for.
