how I think different members of the chain would sneeze because I’ve fully lost my mind
wild:
before the calamity, he was one of those people who suppress their sneezes, mainly so that he could stay silent. anyone who saw him sneeze would hear a small sound and see him violently jerk with the force of the sneeze, and that was just it.
post-calamity, though, he fully embraces his loud sneezing. rumor has it his sneeze is louder than the roar of a lynel, and flora once joked that he could defeat ganon by the sheer force of it. the chain hates it. every single one of them is put on edge by loud noises, so every time wild sneezes all eight of them have a flash of panic as they all reach for their weapons before they realize, ah. everything is fine. wild just got some dust in his nose.
they all hate it, but they don’t try and tell him to be quiet. he’s an unstoppable force that will not be silenced again
wind:
he screams “ACHOO” with every sneeze. he’s competing with wild to see who can do it the loudest, but so far wild’s still winning. wind’s isn’t a scary as wild’s is, because while wild’s is sudden and ear-shattering, everybody within a ten mile radius knows when wind’s about to sneeze because of the fact he goes “ah-ah-ah—ACHOOO” every time it happens. he does it on purpose because he thinks it’s funny, and is currently running in first place on the Most Obnoxious Sneeze list. he takes pride in his position.
time:
time is third on the Most Obnoxious Sneeze list, after wild and wind. he’s got one of those loud dad sneezes, and every time it happens he groans as if he’s shattered all his bones and says something along the lines of, “that was a doozy.” if he sneezes multiple times in one day he’ll start counting them, and every time he goes, “unbelievable. fourth sneeze of the day!” there are multiple groans from the chain. everyone thinks that’s just How He Is, but in reality he’s just being a little shit and takes great amusement in the fact they all think he’s some old man.
when they get to time’s hyrule, malon plays along, acting as if it’s just time’s old age catching up to him. in private, however, the both of them are in hysterics at how seriously the entire chain believes it all. they’re both little shits. will the chain ever know?
four:
he’s one of those people who sneezes about fifty times in one breath. the number of tiny, quick sneezes depends, but they’re always in intervals of four. sometimes it’s four sneezes at once. sometimes it’s eight. sometimes it’s sixteen. the chain’s impressed and a little concerned, and at one point legend makes a comment about how it sounds like he’s multiple people sneezing at once. four just laughs it off (perhaps a little too hard?).
legend:
bunny sneeze. that’s all. he’s got the tiniest, and quite honestly the cutest sneeze out of all of the chain. for the longest time he tried to hide it, because he knew exactly how they’d all react, but alas, one day it was a little too dusty in one of hyrule’s caves, and it had to happen eventually.
obviously the entire chain had to comment about it (read: make fun), and it only stopped when legend’s face became as pink as his hair. wind made some comment about how he was grateful legend wasn’t an annoying sneezer like the trio currently battling for the title of Most Obnoxious Sneeze, which resulted in a large argument about who was truly worthy for the title, which changed the topic quickly.
and if there are still a couple of muffled laughs every time legend sneezes, he guesses it is kind of funny. but only kind of.
sky:
he legitimately just sounds like he’s coughing. wheezing, even. nobody knows whether or not to say “bless you,” because they don’t know if he’s sneezed or if he’s just got something in his throat. sky thinks it’s funny and will say “no ‘bless you’?” after he coughs sometimes, just to be a little shit and confuse them. they all hate it, because how are they supposed to be polite if sky calls every sneeze a cough and every cough a sneeze?! sky thrives off of their distress. he is the original link, after all—where do you think the others got it from?
hyrule:
they have never heard him sneeze once in his life. he’s so incredibly quiet with it that everyone thoroughly believes he just can’t sneeze. maybe it’s a fairy thing, who knows, they don’t want to be rude! in reality he just needs to be quiet to survive in his hyrule, so his sneezes are a lot less earth-shaking then some of his brothers’ sneezes (hint, hint). still, he doesn’t correct their assumptions. they can handle a little mystery solving, can’t they? plus, he’s a little curious to see how long it will take for them to find out the truth. and seeing them tiptoe around it is a little amusing, too. maybe he’ll even start giving them false clues—would they believe him if he said that fairies didn’t breathe through their noses? that fairies don’t sneeze because they use their wings to breathe?
yes. every link is a little shit, in case you couldn’t tell. hyrule is no exception.
twilight:
sneezes like a dog. sometimes it just sounds like he’s hacking. his head shakes like a dog’s when he sneezes, too, and he is 100% made fun of for it. “did the ghost of that wolf pelt possess you, rancher?” “been spending too much time around wolfie?” post-wolfie reveal it makes a lot more sense to the chain, but pre-wolfie reveal it’s the funniest thing ever. he’ll sneeze when something’s too strong-smelling or at random moments when sneezing really doesn’t make any sense, and he’s been given the title of “awkward sneezer” because it always happens at the worst time. it’s happened mid-battle before—but really, who can blame him? wild’s bokoblins were putting WAY too much seasoning on their food!
warriors:
his sneeze is normal. too normal. so remarkably normal that the rest of the chain are determined to find out how he does it. what does he mean, that’s just how his sneeze has always been? it isn’t too loud? too quiet? too canine or feline or any other type of -ine? is he really sure he’s a link, if his sneeze doesn’t sound like something even ganon would fear? he has a sneeze, it’s just so…basic.
warriors just shrugs and says that maybe he’s the only normal one among them. out of all nine, maybe he’s the only sane one. the chain knows this isn’t true.
what they don’t know, however, is that warriors is a master of deception, and that he goes to sleep at night with a smile on his face at the knowledge that the chain will never, ever know his secret…
his sneeze is louder than wild’s.

i’m debating getting skyward sword for my switch. do you recommend it?
i’ve watched a friend play for a bit and I love how story driven it seems, but I have also heard from some others that the controls are annoying? but I’m thinking that only applies to the original release? unsure
Okay, so first of all about the controls: on the switch, you can choose between motion controls or no motion controls. In my opinion, motion controls are more fun, but the switch joycons do have calibration issues and will become awfully uncalibrated after a while of playing. At least that’s what happens to mine.
Playing without motion controls is absolutely not a bad idea, but some of the buttons can be a bit clunky (for example, to move the camera you have to hold in two buttons whereas in motion controls mode you can use one).
I personally think it’s an entertaining game. In my own experience, it’s rather slow paced (but that might just be bc I’m dumb) and yes, story heavy, but at least I don’t see it as a problem. The characters are generally lovable, if that’s something you care about, and while I haven’t progressed very far it seems like the items you get and the bosses are pretty solid??
In the end of the day, I do recommend it :D I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea though.
Edit: Oh, and yeah, as I mentioned in that other post, I generally find the more technical parts of the game more difficult than they should be. Again, throwing stuff. Or hitting an enemy when they only have one specific vulnerable spot. But progressing story-wise is also not always the easiest thing - you have Fi, of course, who can give you “hints”, but they mostly consist of repeated dialogue such as “You are currently in the earth temple. There is a 95% chance that Zelda is somewhere here. Oh, you don’t know where to go? I recommend looking around.”
So… I have had to use tutorials several times..

Adding to The Backlog: Christmas Sale Pickups.
This is the time of year I pick up the most titles (which I then work on for the rest of the year.). And why not? Everything is on sale! I actually budget for this time of year.
It’s “Tales From The Backlog” not “We buy nothing until I finish the backlog”. The backlog will never be finished.
So let’s go over what I got! Links for everything will provided. As I find people are more likely to engage if the work was already done for them. Me included. This is not necessarily a suggestion list. If you want to see if any of these games are actually any good follow my blog. But I do think it’s interesting to show people what kind of gamer you are, the games you’re attracted to, their difficulty level.
A gamer’s library says a lot about a gamer, in my opinion.
For Playstation 5:
Goodbye Volcano High:
youtube
TLDR: I put this one first because if you don’t see any of the other games on my pickup list, I AT LEAST want you to consider this one. This was the only Playstation title I picked up on sale (It is also on Steam). This is pre(historic)-apocalyptic coming of age visual novel with killer animation and music. I’m surprised I don’t see folks talk about this one more. It’s maybe the most stunning looking visual novel to come out this year. (At least at a glance)
Which is a hefty claim considering titles like Jack Jeanne and Virche Evermore: Error Salvation dropped this year. I can’t WAIT to play this one.
For Nintendo Switch:
Roots of Pacha:
youtube
I came back around to this one. It looks like Stardew Valley but with cavemen. You don’t see cavemen touched on a lot anymore so it seems different and interesting.
Wylde Flowers:
youtube
This is one see that keeps popping up in conversations and videos as a great cozy game. It’s supposed to be really good. I’m honest enough to admit that it being on the Apple app store as well as Switch makes me REALLY skeptical. But I’ve seen enough gameplay where I’m willing to take a chance.
Coromon:
youtube
I enjoy Pokemon-like titles. I don’t think we get enough of them. I love Pokemon. And you’ll be seeing my update on how I feel about Scarlet/Violet’s last piece of DLC the Indigo Disc here pretty soon.
However Pokemon is so domineering on the market that a lot of these smaller collector games get unnoticed. This seems to be a very unapologetic Pokemon-clone much like Monster Crown. Which is fine by me.
Nexomon + Nexomon: Extinction bundle:
youtube
Another very obvious Pokemon clone. But it’s obviously prettier than its Coromon counterpart. (Kinda wish the names were more unique.) I have nothing new to say here.
Monster Sanctuary:
youtube
Pokemon… but it’s a Metroidvania. $3.99. I swear the theme wasn’t intentional they just all popped up on sale at decent prices.
2021 Moon Escape:
youtube
This is from the same people who did Traumatarium. I did a review on that one a few months back. It’s on sale for $2.49. And this ISN’T my cheapest pickup for this year. The gameplay reminds me of Zelda or Star Tropics. But I don’t know much about it other than what the trailer already shows us. But also it was $2.49. It’s okay with me if it’s just okay. Not all games have to be 10/10.
Mythic Ocean:
youtube
I have a soft spot for ocean games. Even the more spooky ones like Subnautica or Dredge still have this serene element to them. Mythic Ocean is no different. You apparently help a pantheon of gods find themselves. Which in turn those choices shape the world around you. Sounds simple, short, and cute. It looked a bit explorable too? We’ll see. I’m unsure about that part. It’s on sale for $1.99. And this was my cheapest pickup this season.
For Steam:
Sonic Forces: Overclocked (Steam version REQUIRED for this)
I have, in no uncertain terms. Have played this game. I 100%ed it even. I like the game. Played better but I still like it.
HOWEVER. I haven’t played Sonic Forces Overclocked. Which requires the PC version of Sonic Forces!
This is a FAN MADE incredible mod that blows the original game out of the water apparently. This is, perhaps, my most high priority game purchase of the YEAR. And it’s only $10 to buy Forces right now. This is literally a no brainer.
youtube
Slay The Princess:
youtube
I felt like videos on this one sprung up seemingly overnight on Youtube. I watched someone play the demo and it was an awesome looking game. A horror visual novel about saving a princess is a neat little premise. This one was barely on sale, but I see myself playing this one soon because of the hype. The full voice acting is great.
Magical Diary: Wolf Hall
Tumblr media
The original visual novel Magical Diary: Horse Hall was a game a friend showed me back in high school. Pretty innocent and cute. When this dropped in 2020 I was surprised the game got a sequel at all. The thing I remember most about Horse Hall was that there was a route where you could date Professor Snape. That wasn’t his name but… it might as well have been.

i saw this one post circling tloz twitter about link and i just think it’s so absurd. warning for some small totk spoilers. this is a big post because tloz is my special interest atm and i have things to say
people are berating the devs for botw/totk for not giving link enough personality or outstanding attributes to his character, or “putting his exuberance in his personality in the wrong places” (i.e. link’s excited gestures and expressions when cooking, excited over the pony points in totk, generally any small bit of narrative that is not drawn toward the central plot versus his near expressionless face, stoic demeanor whenever zelda is in a cutscene with him in it) and i actually think, whether it was intentional or not, it’s completely understandable why link’s character acts the way that it does.
this is the direct link to the twitter post in case the screenshots are difficult to see. no hate to op i will just write my opinion on my own blog because twitter is ruthless and stupid about people who don’t believe the same things as them lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know the devs aren’t trying that hard when using link’s century-long sleep + amnesia as a focal point to his character arc, but they should, because his entire personality in these two games literally is justified because of this. he’s one of my favorite reincarnations aside from oot and twilight princess link, because i feel as though the absence of this lore behind everything is even more reason to further his development and understanding of him as a fucking character.
i headcanon link as neurodivergent, for many reasons, but i will only mention this as a small point in the overarching reason but anyway
these small scenes where link’s personality show through while interacting with people who do not directly interfere with his trauma, and have nothing to do with zelda and/or ganon/calamity, because there is no traumatic influence that would make him feel as though he has to hide what small bits of his own inner self that is left
in these scenes where link is with zelda in present botw and in his memories on the slate, link is silent, blank face. in reality, for someone suffering from amnesia, and autistic, this will be the blueprint for this character to go, “hmm, i really don’t know anything about myself right now. but these pictures and glimpses of my past are the only way i can understand who i was before this happened. so i will only act on the behaviors i understand from memory.”
totk link seeing zelda outside of his tiny bits of memory irl, and people are angry that he’s not expressive enough in the game? he just reunited with the person he is sworn to protect, and he’s supposed to feel all lovey-dovey, happy-feely?? I would assume link must think that zelda hates him, tbh, because we don’t GET this conversation in the game, all that link understands is the weight of his own responsibility and his own fuckups
this silent suffering knight is not link’s character. this is not his personality. this is the person that he thought would best suit this situation, much like how many neurodivergent people can quickly read a room, and chameleon themselves to best fit the people around them, and make them happy. the bits and pieces we see when link is not directly interacting with people associated with his past and trauma are the glimpses into his true self imo
link doesn’t try to bond with any of the other characters outside of the ones in the linear plot probably because he doesn’t fucking know how to. almost all of the memories in botw (i haven’t played totk yet but i know at least 50% of the plotline) link is either practicing fighting, guarding zelda, or just being zelda’s silent guide and companion, because yes, that’s his job, but that is also the only persona that makes sense to him.
he wasn’t given his position to make friends with every other person in the game, screw the devs just because link got excited over the damn pony points apparently
in botw link very obviously doesn’t have any grasp on his own personal identity and the role he plays in the fate of humanity because of his memory loss, the fact he is thrust into this world that has essentially forgotten of his existence is pretty fucked up
do people really expect a switch in link’s brain to go off and for him to suddenly assimilate this strong, knightly bravado, now with 1000+ unique expressions, just because zelda gave link very small bits of his memories back? just because he can see her face to face now? hell no. amnesia and trauma responses don’t work like that
botw/totk link had NO backbone on how to move forward in his own character arc, because the only people that new about his existence other than zelda and the elders of the hyrule regions, were dead. like. would link really be smiling and excited around zelda and everyone else after the fact?
OP in the tweet had mentioned that SS link behaved much differently than botw link does, he had life and was much more excitable and had complex emotions written on his face. well. obviously. because this is not the same link as SS link, they are in a different life path whereas SS link was not killed and then preserved for 100 years with all of his memories forgotten. SS link was still a young adult, a child even, he had fun character traits and cute expressions because could still enjoy life in skyloft and be a kid before fated responsibility and demise hit. like, at least oot link had a second chance at his childhood, botw/totk link was probably thrust into responsibility before he could even fathom what types of roles he would need to play when he grew up.
link remains silent and because of this, probably masking his inner emotions
he doesn’t know or think that anything other than his vow of silence is the best option. he’s probably terrified of fucking up again even if it means just expressing verbal or physical concern, sadness, joy--literally any emotion. i really can’t think of this link having any other thought processes other than this one. he isn’t a silly, mindless child. he’s an adult, or at least was forced to act like one before he was ready.
anyway thank you to anyone who read this :> i write fics if anyone wants to indulge a shameless self promo after i word vomit/defend botw link

Ranking every Ganon/Ganondorf based on Appearance
Hey folks!
Those who know me well know that Ganondorf is one of my all time favourite video game characters and I am SO excited to see him return in “Tears of the Kingdom”. In that spirit, I thought it would be fun to do a personal ranking of every major Ganon or Ganondorf appearance in a Zelda game.
Notice how I said “major”, because quite frankly there are a lot of smaller Zelda games out there and I don’t have time to look into every single one of them to see if the G man had a cameo or not. This won’t be a complete list, just complete in terms of my personal knowledge and the games I am most familiar with. Also, friendly reminder that this list is my opinion and I’m not trying to offend or change anyone’s mind.
Let’s go!
Tumblr media
Ganon from the CD-I Zelda games - 1/10
I had to throw this one in here just for fun. It’s no secret that most of the characters in these games look absolutely god awful, not just Ganon himself. He looks like a weird, swamp monster that’s a cross between a dog and an ogre. Whenever I see this image all I can think of were those hilarious Youtube Poops from way back in the day. It is truly a silly design that fails to even remotely represent such an evil and intimidating character.
Tumblr media
Calamity Ganon from Breath of the Wild - 3/10
Gosh, I just know I’m gonna piss people off with this one. I’m sorry, but I just don’t like this design at all. Like, what am I even looking at here? He looks like a Christmas tree crossed with a pirate skeleton or something. The only reason why I gave him a 3 is because at least he is somewhat intimidating, unlike the last entry on my list. I know I haven’t actually finished BOTW, but that doesn’t change the fact that I find his design to be pretty uninspired and confusing, at least from what I’ve seen.
Tumblr media
Original Ganon from the Legend of Zelda -  5/10
Although I’ve always preferred Ganondorf to Ganon, I will say I actually dig this design quite a bit. It really gets the point across that he is a powerful baddie and will hurt you if he gets the chance. It’s a good look, it’s effective, and oddly cute in a weird way? Especially when you see him in the game as a bundle of sprites that resemble a bright blue pig. Ultimately it’s just not as threatening or aesthetically pleasing as some of his other reincarnations.
Tumblr media
Ganondorf from The Wind Waker - 6/10
Now we’re getting somewhere! While this is far from my favourite design of his, you have to admit it goes in a pretty creative and unique art direction. This version of Ganondorf feels rather large and imposing, especially since he towers over the characters of Link and Zelda who are literal children. I love the small details like his brooch and sandals. When I look at this image, I’m left with only one burning question...why did they make him so god damn CHONKY?
Tumblr media
Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time - 7/10
Honestly it’s really hard to find anything wrong with this design. This was the first time we ever saw a human version of Ganondorf, and it’s inspired all of the other versions since then to some degree. He’s imposing, he’s threatening, he’s powerful, and it shows. I love the brown tones mixed with the white/blue/red cloth that’s scattered over various points. I think the only problem I have with this is the weird cod-piece situation that’s going on. And why did they make his ears so big and goofy?
Tumblr media
Ganondorf from Hyrule Warriors - 8/10
Now THIS is more like it! I never played Hyrule Warriors, but boy do I sure love this design of Ganondorf. The blue and gold tones, the giant boots, the luscious red mane that’s free to blow in the wind. This is a look that just screams power and strength, with a touch of grace added in for good measure. Ganondorf looks delightfully mean here, like he’s thinking about how much he’s going to enjoy smashing your face into the ground.
Tumblr media
Ganondorf from Tears of the Kingdom - 8.5/10
This new look hasn’t even been out for a week and I’m already so in love with it. I’m really enjoying the Samurai inspired design, with the man bun, tattoos and more skin shown than any other version I can think of. I know it’s on trend to talk about the thirst factor, but it definitely is there. Ganondorf’s potential for sex appeal is long overdue, and judging by everyone’s reaction I think I’m correct in that. Similar to Link and Zelda’s designs, I feel like this look has taken a bold new turn without straying too far from the original design of the character. I can’t wait to see more of him!
Tumblr media
Ganondorf from Twilight Princess - 10/10
Here he is; the man, the myth...the absolute GOAT. In my opinion, Ganondorf’s design PEAKED with Twilight Princess and no other design has even come close to this level of perfection. Part of this might be my nostalgia talking, or the fact that this is my favourite Zelda game. But according to some other folks online, it looks like I’m not the only one who is obsessed with this look. Just looking at this image you can feel the anger, the power, the dominance. I love the colour scheme, the hairstyle, the cape, the fingerless gloves. There was so much thought put into every detail and it really shows. Perhaps 11 year Sam was ahead of her time, but I thought this Ganondorf was sexy as fuck back in the day (and tbh I still kind of do). At the end of the day, this look has everything you’d want for the King of Evil.
Thanks for listening to my ramble, folks. I hope you got something out of it. What’s your favourite version of Ganon/Ganondorf? :)

Ok, so Im using a doodle I drew of Cloud just to represent video games in general.
I finished Xenoblade2. It was on my list of games to entertain me while my husband was deployed. Honestly thought Id make a bigger dent in that backlog but alas, my spouse has been gone for 9 months and I only played 1.5 games. I started Zelda:totk prior to him leaving and it took me half his trip and 220 hours to finish. Been playing XB2 since finishing Zelda. Well, I lie I haven’t been counting Disney Dreamlight also which has an absurd amount of hours on it too.
Other games on my list to play are Octopath Traveler 2, Xenoblade 3 and possible Red Dead Redemption 2 (my only one for the ps4)and I had another possible for the switch also. I didn’t necessarily want to play XB2 and in fact the internet suggested to skip it but I felt guilty having played 1 and skipping to 3, so I gave it a try. For the record, my spouse returns home within the month and I’m not making it through my backlog.
So I have thoughts about XB2. In a way I don’t know if it was as bad as the internet says it was. Probably seems ok because I haven’t played 3 which is apparently one of the best modern jrpgs so my opinion will probably change. My biggest gripe was traversing the map. I enjoy a good, open world and stumbling upon hidden nooks and crannies but this game did not make it easy to get to certain locations. I was trying hard not to google information but sometimes I had to just to get to some of these tunnels. Particularly in Gormott. Nothing pissed me off than trying to get around main Gormott area and then if you weren’t just lost the game punished you by having random level 90 monsters swoop down and murder you. I guess the murder isn’t exactly new. XB1 had similar but exploring was so much easier. It may have also been a switch problem but keeping the character in auto run was a challenge itself. I almost quit this game because of it. Rex would be in a sprint and then get stuck walking stupidly slow.
That reminds me too of the controls. It took me a long time to get used to opening the correct menu. I kept accidentally opening the settings/save screen instead of the main menu or the map screen. Also on the world map I would keep accidentally opening up controller help button. This is fine except they don’t make it super easy to back out of them. You have to click through multiple screens. Again, some of this might be because I was pushing certain menu buttons for Zelda for so long it took a while to get used to backwards controls.
Other control problems were my fault. I do not want to read a manual to play. I don’t like tutorials. I feel like the buttons should always be obvious. I did not read any instructions. It took me far too long (90 hour mark) to realize if I press start, a chain attack would occur. I learned this while trying to pause during a boss fight, which I don’t even know if you can pause still. Also, around the 120 hour mark I learned that each blade had little mini quests to unlock power ups. I just assumed you used them to level them up. I never actually clicked around in the screen (which also had stupid controls) lmao. /failgamer/. This one’s kinda annoying because I had to run around the world again to excavate and open all these chests I couldn’t before because nothing was leveled lol.
All of these things were very frustrating when trying to set and perform regular quests and missions. Some of the quests were very vague and difficult to follow without a guide.
Then we have the story and characters. The giant boobs I could ignore as they usually come with jrpgs but the story and characters lost my interest almost immediately. The gameplay being more fun despite being clunky. I honestly don’t know if I could name every character. The final boss was also just meh. I don’t necessarily need a challenge but he was no more amazing than any regular fight. I felt nothing when the credits rolled.
I will say I liked the atmosphere of the game and the voice acting except for tora. Dude..shut up..the mini game tiger tiger wasn’t so bad either. Thought that was going to be painful but they were pretty lenient.
Overall I think it was maybe just under Tales of Arise. I played SEs Harvestella last year and XB1 and 2 are both far superior than it. I wasn’t expecting to get almost 140 hours in this game tho and I didn’t even complete some of the side quests. I tried to go for completionism but I just couldn’t get lost on the maps anymore.
I’m considering dropping immediately into XB3 but the new FF7 is about to come out. I don’t know if I should get invested when I’ll have to stop in the middle to play another game. I won’t be able to play ff7 until my husband comes home next month tho because he has the ps5. I also never got to play ff16 and I’m considering baldurs gate…all the cool people played it already tho and I’m behind.
But ff7. Rebirth has sparked a resurgence in an old obsession.

Tears fo the Kingdom speculations
The last trailer hadn’t managed to make me as excited as this one. Not remotely close. The freedom this game promises seems incredible, and, what’s better, seems that will be kind of managed alongside a more relevant story.
1. Sidon being King? = things happening in hyrule?
In the past game it seemed that the story mostly revolved around descovering what had happened in the past which, given the fact that Link had lost his memories, kind of makes sense. But I’m all excited for the fact that it seems this game will have a story you progress with. What do I mean? Eventhough we can not be certain, I read someone that pointed out Sidon was wearing his father’s crown. As I rewatched the trailer, I tried to take notice of that, only to find out something even more interesting. In the firtst clip we see of him, while fighting alongside Link, he does not seem to be wearing it. However, in that last scene where Riju, Sidon and, presumably, Teba’s son are together (I don’t know his name in english), he does. That lead me to think that, maybe, it has something to do with an event that will occur during game. This may imply that maybe in this time we’ll see more stuff going on around us and the characters as the game progresses, something that was kind of lost in Breath of the Wild.
2. Hylia or Zelda
I can not decide who is meant to be the girl with the green eyes and the not-at-all-hylian traits. I’ve heard it may be a transformed Zelda. Is not crazy to think so as we can see on her neckalce a glowing gem that could very well be the one they pay special focus on, a few scenes back, on her hands. However there’s a part of me that thinks it just means that both Zelda and said character (could be Hylia as it has also been speculated) will play an important role and be connected somehow. Remember that Skyward Sword Zelda is meant to be the reincarnation of Hylia. Does someone know actually how much similar to you needs to be a reincarnation? Is it... mandatory? If it were, it could be a very good explanation on why they look alike.
This leads to another (and bigger) question:
3. Who is the one on the wall carvings?
Three figures pop into my mind. The green-eyed girl, the misterious one that speaks with Zelda, and that first creature. The size makes me think that figure speaking with zelda could be a choice (plus, they don’t show its face. Could it be for a reason?). Anyhow, the first creature we see shares undoubtedly some traits with the one of the carvings (Specially the eye on the forhead, the really long ears with a very similar decoration, and, maybe, the fact that seems the least human-like). But what about the blonde one? Is it Zelda? Is it Hylia? If it were her, is it ever Hylia the one in the carvings? Is it another deity? Is it even a deity?
4. More lively hyrule
In my opinion, one of the most exciting things about the trailer was that the people of Hyrule seem to be more involved. Not only we see Link carrying some of them in a carriage (he seems to have crafted, or at least fixed), but also we are presented two other important scenes: one were we see some hylians, along with a goron, a gerudo and Link, looking at somewere... But are they ready for something?. And, a second one, that features a buch of hylians on the field fighting against some bokoblins. Plus, Hyrule seems to be actually getting rebuilt.
5. What’s with Teba?
We see Riju, se see Sidon... but Teba is nowhere to be found (Nor Yunobo, but it’s something else what shocks me). Somehow, we see a little not-so-little orni that (I’ve searched for a picture to make sure) seems to be an older version of Teba’s son. (We can asume he has grown I guess). Does the absence of Yunobo and Teba, and the appearance of Teba’s son imply that not all “descendants” of the champions will have an important role? Or is it just that we haven’t seen all yet?
6. Companions?
It is said by a voice I have not recognised that Link won’t be alone. All this while showing a scene of Sidon and Link fighting in what seems to be the lands above. Are we facing the return of some kind of companion figure, but this time, it’s more than one? The fact that we also see Link in various scenes with Teba’s son makes me think of this “companions” as punctual companions, which is most likely, as we also see Link wondering most of his time alone.
We could also mention what seems to be the return of the dungeons (or some kind of similar type of mazes), the new items, abilities, attires...
NOTE: I have not seen any of the leaked content (nor I want to) so, if something here is wrong because of my lack of information, my apologies.
( apologize also for any kind of typo. Enlgish is not my mother tongue)

Video Games for Regressors
DNI: NSFW, K1nk, Anti-Agere. More is on my carrd which is located on my profile description.
this is all just my own opinion and experience on what helps me regress, fun to play while regressed and so on. you are valid for not liking any of these games or having a contrasting taste! everybody is different and that’s okay! :D
Stardew Valley - USD$14.99 (Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, PS4/PSVITA, Xbox One, PC/Mac/Linux [Steam]) this one is my favorite go-to game both in and out of regression!
Minecraft - Prices vary USD$6.99-29.99 (Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, PS4, Xbox One, PC/Mac/Linux) A very popular and classic game, if you get scared easily while regressed, there are different game modes to where there are no mobs!
Slime Rancher - USD$19.99 (Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC/Mac/Linux) This game is so underrated! I play this all the time and has truly become one of my favorite games! There are a few hostile creatures in the game with no way to turn them off though. :[
Grounded - USD$29.99 (Xbox One/Series X/Series S, Microsoft Windows/PC [Steam or Xbox Shop]) I don’t play this game a lot myself but it’s very fun if adventure/survival games are your thing! Big warning though! This game is centered around bugs, many bugs are hostile and are very big. It gives a warning for arachnophobia at the beginning as well.
Lego games - Prices Vary (each game varies to PC’s and Consoles.) this is a very broad range of games but they are some of the best games I played when I was younger! You can find them on different console stores or steam.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons - USD$24.99 (Nintendo Switch) A very popular and easy going game. I know a lot of regressors enjoy it so I had to include it!
Ooblets - USD$29.99 (Xbox One, Microsoft Windows) I’ve been following and playing this game for a long time and it’s very enjoyable! Nothing scary happens either which is nice! :D
Pokémon Games - Prices Vary (Nintendo Consoles) I don’t see a lot of regressors talking about how good Pokémon is to chill and relax so I’m here to do it! Watching the show or playing it is extremely fun! You don’t have to know how to do anything to play or start watching either, so it’s okay if you don’t know a lot about it! I can always pick up from where I left off even with my memory issues! :]
Terraria - Prices Vary USD$5-10 (Nintendo Switch, PS3/4/VITA, Xbox One/360, Android, iOS, PC/Mac/Linux) super fun game! Ive had this game longer than any other one listed, while I don’t play it much, its fun if it’s your style! :D
The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - USD$39.99 (Nintendo Switch) while this game can be very fast paced at times, it’s extremely fun! I haven’t played much of it yet, but I watch a lot of people play it and it’s very cool! :D
If you want to add more, go ahead and comment for others to see as well! Have a wonderful day you lovely people!

4, 14, 22?
Hi! Sorry it's taken me so long to answer this one, thank you for the ask 😊. It was a lot of fun to do, but warning, it will be salty, so do please come back and read later if you're not in the mood for salt right now!
4) Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
Zelink. I actually have that tag blocked, although some of my favourite content creators (like the fab wanderingnightinggale) are Zelink shippers, so I look at all their stuff, but for the most part I dislike it. Link had a fiancee, zelda hated link and only started liking him after he protected her and looked hot, it just feels very shallow. Could I see it working after the calamity? Maybe. Before, absolutely not. It would take a lot of manoeuvring for me to see it working out.
Erasermic is also a big one (I have that tag blocked too!). That is the most popular and accepted MHA/BNHA ship and I am not a fan. It’s one of the many non-canon ships that feel a little out of place for me in bnha. They're friends, that’s all. One of them actually finds the other rather irritating, and they barely interact at all. Even with all the manoeuvring in the world I couldn’t see it working.
14) Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
BHNA is waaaaay too h*rny. Smut and 18+ images and stuff like that, if you like it, that's good for you, and the occasional bit here and there, is fine because you can avoid it, but you can’t for BNHA… like most of the characters are children and I still have to block tags because of how dirty they are (with children). The cute fluffy stuff and the non-romantic stuff is adorable, I just wish I could get to it without wading through ... spicy ... content.
Ahsoka is overrated and Anakin doesn’t get enough sympathy, but that's star wars, and just gets me a little sad when I think about it.
22) Popular character you hate?
Again, the fandom will come after me with pitch forks, but, Ahsoka Tano.  The world bent to her whims, she survived palatine, Darth Vader, order 66, leaving the Jedi, Darth maul, general grievous, had special white lightsabers just because, and laser gun proof bescar armour, and is a super cool badass who can survive anything ever and is also a child and… just stop breaking the suspension of disbelief please. Everything's just a bit oversaturated with her now. I used to like her, but too much of a good thing can make you not like the good thing, you know what I mean? When she was a Padawan she was unreasonably powerful, but she didn't have all of this world breaking stuff added so it was ok. So, I don't hate her... most of the time, but I do try to avoid content with her in it too much 😅
I hate to say it but Zelda…  BoTW Zelda has ruined every other Zelda and Link interaction in every other game. I just can’t help but see this toxic unloving person. I have been hurt by people like that and when playing as Link, I was a little upset by some of their interactions. I like the Fanon BoTW Zelda, but the actual lady… not for me. I get the fact that she’s been hurt and she grows as a person, and that is amazing, but it takes a lot of willpower for me to enjoy her character. If you love her though, please do! She’s great at overcoming her problems and her upbringing was the reason for her bitterness and unpleasantness, and when she succeeds despite her difficulties, all power to her.  I haven’t played AoC, so maybe she’s better in that? Again I don't hate her, but I do have moments of intense dislike of her. She's amazing in some regards, but I think, like Ahsoka, I've just seen a bit too much of her now. I do try my darnedest to like her and understand her though, because I don't really like disliking a character, and I think at first the reason I recoiled is because her most popular ship got in the way of my OTP (which is a really poor reason to dislike a character), so I'm trying to do better by her. 😊
Hope that wasn't too salty and answered your questions! Have a lovely day everyone! :)

This was 2022
What did I do in 2022? The year in review, from me to you.
2022 has been eventful for me. I got a new job and seemingly a new chronic illness?? So it’s been up and down. As far as my hobbies go w/r/t this blog, things have been a little slow, perhaps due to the aforementioned factors.
In my capacity as a scanlator of video game comics, I did publish that holy grail manga that I’d been longing for: the comic adaptation of the 1993 Super Mario Bros movie. There was also the Famicom Manga mini-comic for Zelda 1. And that’s it. I’ve been gradually working on a Diddy Kong Racing 4koma volume, which might be released next year but at the rate it’s going I don’t want to make any promises. My filehosting account being taken down was a setback for making my work on comics available but I managed to get all of it up in various places, in particular maintaining my page on Mangadex. Also, recently my incredible spouse has helped me establish my own website! It’s a work in progress (and not really ready for public viewing just yet) but I wanted it primarily as a convenient way to browse my scanlations as well as a hub for my other hobbies. This Tumblr is not going away, I just felt I needed something more permanent.
I’ve continued creating pixel art cast portraits and posting them here as well as on DeviantArt. This year I did some Zelda, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings along with a few shows, as well as updating the big Donkey Kong collage (now up to 327 characters!).
Podcasts? Just a few. 1 new episode of the Donkey Kong Arcade Era Power Hour with Gibbon, and 3 Eurovision commentaries. I kept a consistent streaming schedule, with 48 almost-weekly streams of various retro and indie games. Doing these makes me happy, and I covered a few queer-themed Itch bundles, cracked DSiWare emulation, continued delving into Donkey Kong fan works and bootlegs, and explored the fringes of Sonic and Lord of the Rings games, among many others. The streams are all archived here.
In my regular gaming habits, I did a big bonanza of Lord of the Rings-adjacent games. This was really interesting and culminated in a month spent in the still-running MMO originally from 2007. Aside from this I played the modern Doom games, a selection of cat and primate games, all of the 2D Dimps-developed Sonic games, more Picross, and some cool LCD and self-contained game units (more on that in the new year as well). I’ve also just hacked my 3DS in the last few days, which opens up possibilities for some region-exclusive titles becoming available to me.
And now the awards show. “Best not-Donkey Kong game”: Marsupilami: Hoobadventure (also wins “best post-launch update” for adding a new free world). “Best open world”: Lord of the Rings Online with the surprise upset; in my hot take opinion, Elden Ring would’ve been better without an open world...! Middle-Earth: Shadow of War was also a runner-up. “Most improved sequel”: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King console game. After playing The Two Towers for the first time this was a big step up. Runners-up are Shadow of War again, Anodyne 2, Sonic Advance 2, and Sonic Rush Adventure. The Toejam & Earl games were too different to compare fairly. “Best co-op game that we haven’t finished yet so I haven’t reviewed”: Darksiders: Genesis. Runner-up is Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga. The “Thoughts and Emotions” award: Anodyne 2. Runners-up are Stray, Elden Ring, and Gibbon: Beyond the Trees.
Thanks for reading, and see you next year!

WWE 2K24 Cover Star Cody Rhodes Shares Zelda Opinions And His Most Anticipated Games Of 2024
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/wwe-2k24-cover-star-cody-rhodes-shares-zelda-opinions-and-his-most-anticipated-games-of-2024/
WWE 2K24 Cover Star Cody Rhodes Shares Zelda Opinions And His Most Anticipated Games Of 2024
Tumblr media
This past weekend, I traveled to Tampa/St. Peterburg, FL, to attend WWE’s Royal Rumble and to play WWE 2K24 at a special preview event. You can look for my hands-on impressions and video footage of my gameplay on Thursday, February 1. But while I was there, I had the chance to chat with one of 2K24’s cover stars and the winner of the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, Cody Rhodes.
The “American Nightmare” is a lifelong gamer and professed Zelda fanatic (fun fact: during his early WWE run in ‘07-’08, his wrestling boots sported the Triforce logo). So I decided to forgo any wrestling questions and spent the few precious minutes I had with Cody getting his take on Tears of the Kingdom, how Majora’s Mask stacks up compared to his favorite Zelda game, Ocarina of Time and asked what game he’s most looking forward to playing in 2024.
Game Informer: I know you’re a big Zelda fan, so I gotta ask: did you play Tears of the Kingdom, and if so, what do you think?
Cody Rhodes: Yeah, I went right through it. So I feel like Breath of the Wild and Tears of Kingdom are one game because they’re so huge. Like, you don’t ever need to play another Zelda ever again if you’re playing Tears of the Kingdom. I mean, just with the Depths, hunting all the damn Lynels down, and the Lynels just get harder as I get older, which makes me feel like I’m out of touch with gaming itself. But I really liked the story. We wanted more story with Breath of the Wild, we got some of that story with Ganondorf. But they did the right thing in terms of [realizing] “they still want more. Still want more.” And I just think we’re in a kind of golden age of the games that I grew up loving. Metal Gear Solid and Zelda, you’re seeing remakes, you’re seeing remasters, potentially an animated or a live-action movie. To me, I can’t ask for a better thing because we gave all this energy as fans to it, and it can still continue on, you know?
GI: Yeah, for sure. I’m playing Majora’s Mask for the first time for a video feature for my website. Is that a favorite of yours? I know you’re a big Ocarina of Time fan, but where do you land a Majora’s Mask?
Rhodes: So Majora’s Mask is a masterpiece. I get mad at it because people try to say it’s better than Ocarina of Time. I feel like they’re also one game, but Majora’s Mask for what it did with the cycle, the three-day cycle, and things changing with the night and day, there’s still some games in this era who aren’t getting that right. Like, it had a Red Dead-level nuance to it for a Nintendo 64 game. Love Majora’s Mask.
Tumblr media
Myself and Cody (rocking a trademark expensive suit) hang at the WWE 2K24 event. Side note: his loafers were incredible.
GI: I don’t know how much time you have to play games now, but do you have a game that you’re looking forward to coming out this year or anything that you haven’t gotten to in your backlog?
Rhodes: I’ll jump forward and say 2K24 for sure because I’ve only gotten a little bit of a taste of it and have been amazed. But the big one for me is [Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater]. And then, hopefully, I wonder if we’ll get a Metal Gear Collection Volume 2 because I know a lot of people want to see Metal Gear Solid 4 playable on modern consoles. So here’s hoping.
WWE 2K24 launches on March 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

I finished the main quest for Tears of the Kingdom, rolled credits and got my little epilogue scene, and my final thoughts are... meh.
If that sounds familiar, that’s because the blunt truth is the game never changed from my first and second impressions. It shares the same exposition five times, it’s blatantly obvious not much is going on story-wise and the presentation, lovely as it is, can’t hide that. A majority of the plot is bad, and I don’t feel the need to sugarcoat that opinion for an otherwise good game.
(While none of my complaints are unique, there are probably hundreds of blogs and comments criticizing  the same things I am, I will say, maybe unpopular opinion: I don’t mind the Sheikah tech being basically erased and replaced with Zonai stuff, and other little retcons throughout. All my problems with the structure is from treating TOTK as its own standalone game and story.)
I don’t even hate the main quests most of the time, it’s pathetically easy to skip the bits I wasn’t liking each time. In some ways the town stuff is a massive improvement over BOTW and fun to play and interact with this world. The dungeons and even getting to those places with a companion are neat little sequences. But I cannot emphasize enough how actually completing dungeons and being ‘rewarded’ with essentially the same (far too long) cutscene is such a deflating experience to what I was just enjoying. I don’t how to briefly explain it, but I feel like new Zelda games have this problem where I’m not really a part of them anymore as a player, I’m just supposed to sit there and accept that Link is The Hero the universe revolves around. It’s weird and boring and I hate it every time!!
LOZ games have always been game first, with narrative being a far second priority. And I’m an easy to please lady, I genuinely love BOTW and HWAOC because they’re simple and don’t waste time dressing themselves up as anything more important than they really are. I expected TOTK to be on that same level just with a different gimmick. But even with those reasonably low expectations, the story feels like it’s the brainstorm session of a plot that lucks into making a scene or thread I like, but spends a lot of time saying nothing. Most of it fell flat for me, and the worst part is I can see how even just a few punched up sentences here and there could have a domino effect to better emphasizing what I think the main quest is thematically trying to say. You certainly can’t make Ganon’s terrible dialogue worse.  The basic shape of a decent story is there, it just desperately needs a second draft to reach its potential.
(I spent most of the post-credit scene thinking “what are you talking about?” as characters conversed about something that had been brought up maybe once, it was unintentionally funny)
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but it’s just plain true that Zelda is the only character I cared about here. She’s a bit too fair maiden archetype for me to be fully comfortable with (to be fair, this is a problem BOTW has too) but she’s got the closest thing to a basic character arc in comparison to the lacking development everyone else has. A concept at the center of her story is unambiguously cool and compelling to be worth pinning a game on. Along with the main quest, there are also side quests that show she’s been doing things like commissioning a schoolhouse to be built and starting an animal sanctuary at a stable. These are nice glimpses into a down-to-earth person’s life as she genuinely cares about the present world around her, not just the big plot stuff. It’s crumbs in comparison to other RPGs but I savored them.
I could say more but I actually want to focus on the stuff I set aside to get to the credits like finding more pretty outfits, or playing indie games I bought from itchio and haven’t checked out yet. At the very least, I preordered TOTK because I thought it would be fun to play and I might finally have an opportunity to experience something before fandom osmosis spoiled stuff for me, and I got to have that, it was nice. TL;DR narrative lacking but gameplay good.

for the video game ask; 1, 2, 16, 17, 28!
1. Last game you finished
Funnily enough, I just finished playing Ocarina of Time on the Switch! In my opinion, one of the best games out there hands down. It was basically my whole childhood so I can play that game front to back no problem.
2. Game(s) you’re currently playing
Currently, it's Elder Scrolls Online, and Tear of the Kingdom. Haven't finished the second one yet cause I just keep getting sidetracked in doing all the fun little side quests and collecting cool clothes. Plus the Depths is so fucking big I wanna map it all out first.
16. A game you’d like to replay that you haven’t
I'd love to replay a Pokemon game kind of. I haven't picked one up since X and Y, and while I did get Moon and have Violet/Scarlet I just don't have the same motivation/excitement for them as I did before. But maybe that'll change in the future.
17. A game you didn’t finish but would like to get back to or restart someday
Dragon Quest 8! I got that like centuries ago when it first came out, and it enraptured me and I did all the side quests and upgrades and grinding but I stopped like right before the end(?) fight and now I can't remember fuck or shit about what to do or where to go next. I'd think I would do a restart of the game and experience it all over again.
18. Pick a series you like. What was the first game you played for it? Was it a good starting point? Would it still be a good starting point now?
Legend of Zelda baby, it's my heart and soul. It's the reason I like doing puzzle games and figuring out problems. It's a cornerstone of video games and started a lot of basic features that are staples in games now that people take for granted (like a lock-on feature!). The first game I played from LoZ was Ocarina of Time so it just continues to solidify it's special place in my heart. And I think it was a great starting point, imo. As a first 3D game I played, it got me used to moving in 3D space, careful maneuvering over thin bridges, and creative thinking. And I still think it's a great starting point, any of the games are.

Hello my doodles and darlings! I’m still in love with stories, so here’s another part in…
A Love Letter to Stories
Probably my favorite genre, high fantasy. Realm of magical, mystical creatures and cool as hell world mechanics, magic systems are my passion. Of course, other genres have magic and magic systems too, but high fantasy is where those mechanics really, truly get to shine. Fantasy may have a hint of the rules of our reality, but high fantasy truly escapes from our world. The characters are strange and, to put it nicely, much different than us. In high fantasy an elf and a human can fall in love and live throughout the centuries together via deus ex machina and it not feel contrived. High fantasy looks at all the things that make fantasy so enjoyable and says “hold my world-appropriate adult beverage”. I find that some of the best of high fantasy is when something makes no sense at all and later on makes total sense. My dear friend, the Goddess of the Bass (you can find her on fanfiction.net at ZeldaKitten, her writing is amazing and I love her. And yes, her Bass skills are up to par with her name) has, remarkably, finished the entire 38 book Legend of Drizzt series, and is very enthusiastic about my attempts at catching up with her (I’m only on book nine. 29 to go!) and sometimes gives me little spoilers that, in my opinion, heighten my experience of the series as a whole. I’m left wondering how exactly this team-up happened, or how they brought this character back into the equation, or what exactly happened to this guy?? I’m going to write a piece on why spoilers aren’t actually bad and why having a few spoilers can make experiencing a story more fun, but that’s a project for another day. High fantasy is escapism in it’s finest form. A world completely devoid of the familiarity that urban fantasy carries and far removed from the inherent realism of science fiction, high fantasy is truly the writers playground. However, it can be difficult to tell the difference between fantasy and high fantasy. I mean, they are genre and subgenre after all. How different could they really be? Fairly different. I’ve noticed that when I categorize fantasy vs high fantasy, the main difference is in the protagonist. I tend to categorize stories with human or human-like (think like Link when he has round ears (shout out to the Goddess for teaching me about the Legend of Zelda)) protagonists as fantasy and non-humans or human adjacent characters (like Kratos from God of War (I don’t play God of War but some people in my life do, so I know that’s the protagonist)) tend to get sorted into high fantasy. (God of War isn’t high fantasy btw). Apart from that it’s also about the story and the direction it takes. High fantasy frequently focuses on the differences between the races of that world and their differing or opposing perspectives, and how those differences help them be a better team and the best possible versions of themselves, whereas fantasy kinda just has them being of different races. Like a team-up of elves, humans, dwarves, and hobbits different races. Not like different ethnicities races, though I’m sure that’s happened on occasion. High fantasy works because it respects itself, its authors, and its readers to handle topics maturely. It draws you into a world of magic and beauty and allows you to see the ugly truths that lie just beyond the sparkles and glitter (I have beef with glitter, don’t ask why).
High fantasy is one of, if not my all-time favorite genre, and I’ve got some books of it that are near and dear to my heart. Some of my favorites are; The Legend of Drizzt series by R.A. Salvatore, The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein. Some I heard were good but never read/finished (and why) are; Lord of the Rings (I started but had homework so I stopped and I haven’t picked it up since) by JRR Tolkein, The Silmarillion (I had to stop like halfway through and lost the story) also by JRR Tolkein, and the Game of Thrones book series (my parents said no and I haven’t worked up the guts to ask again since) by George R.R Martin. Another book that I liked but wasn’t my favorite was Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas, which would probably be better in the fantasy category, but I didn’t remember it then, I remembered it now. I enjoyed it, and it is a good book with interesting characters and well-done tension (by my memory, it’s been a while) just not one of my favorites.
Next up, sci-fi! I don’t really read a lot of sci-fi, but I still enjoy it when I do read it.
All my love,
Jules
