Deku x reader- Minecraft millionaire

Fluff

A/N: I use Xbox so these are Xbox controlls but feel free to change them as you see fit

Izuku sat on his bed flicking his eye's from the facetime with you to the screen in front of him continuously holding the right trigger on his controller and chewing his lip. "Wait what level do you find diamonds?" he asked glancing at his coordinates in the corner and you jumped around the world trying to escape a creeper "Fuck i'm gonna die! i'm gonna die! please NO!" you yelped and decided it was time to dig a hole in the ground and block it off. "Sorry, what did you ask?" you look at the phone propped up against your laptop and chuckle at Izuku's face scrunched up in concentration "uh, what level do you find diamonds" he repeated not taking his eye off the screen filled with grey stone blocks and dot's of black for coal. "12 to 14, usually 13 is like the best place"

You answered uncovering the hole you had dug in just as a creeper passed over you and fell into your 3 by 1 grave. "NOOO!" you screeched as the green mob flashed white and you tried to jump out of the inescapable hole for a final moments peace but to no avail. The unmistakable sound of a muffled explosion and the respawn screen, lighting your face up red and you let out a fake cry. "Did you die?" he asked despite the obvious answer. "Yeahh" you answered with a heavy sigh and respawned at home, grabbing a spare wooden sword and jumping over to the spot of your death. If nothing else you'd get a lot of dirt?

Izuku muttered about hitting his head off every block and you snickered "I mean at least you learned your lesson about digging straight down" he huffed and flailed his arms creating a cold air around him "it wasn't my fault no one told me I shouldn't dig straight down!" he had a point, yes, but still you had presumed that even he would know such a basic rule "I know, I know" you say nearing the site of the explosion and start sprinting ignoring the band of mobs chasing you.

"HOW IS MY STUFF STILL HERE. IT WAS LITERALLY NEXT TO ME?!" you yelped in surprise but ran around the area gathering your stuff and spammed the Y button, automatically gearing up and switched your sword to your hotbar along with your enchanted pickaxe and cooked chicken.

"Maybe the minecraft gods granted you... something?" Izuku laughed and popped out of his mine running to his furnace and dropping in a stack of Iron. "(y/n) I hear you need some cobblestone" Izuku said running to your house across from his and down the basement to your storage area. You groaned begrudgingly trying to fend off an army of spiders who had made it a personal goal of theirs to off you. "Izuku please don't contribute to the cobble chest. I'm begging you. I don't need more cobble" you whined sprinting away with 5x more Xp than you originally had. "Do you have lapiz?" you asked raking through his chests to find the blue material.

Izuku opened the chest almost full with cobble and finished it off with 12 more stacks, leaving one or himself. The green achievement bar popped up at the bottom of the screen "Chestful of cobblestone" and you clicked your tongue pushing your hands together like a prayer in front of your mouth "IZUKU. I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD I'M GOING TO BURN YOUR COBBLE. STOP GIVING ME COBBLE, THAT GOES FOR ALL THE REST OF THE BOYS TOO!" your shouting could be heard throughout the dorm and some of the other minecraft players snickered to themselves.

Anytime, they had a stack or so of cobble, they would put it in one of your chests and it became a running joke for them to go "Hey (y/n) I heard you needed more cobble" and shove it in the chest despite your begging them not to. You had 3 chests of cobble but never got the achievement because you had burned the first 2 chestfulls before they could finish it off.

"Yes I have lapiz just give me a sec" he answered after your threat and jumped over to you. Meeting in front of your pumpkin farm you were jumping on. "If you fall you're gonna trample your crops" he said and you shrugged "that's what I have a diamond hoe for duh" you say in a bragging way as if having a diamond hoe of all things really just showed your wealth. You jumped off the pumpkin successfully not landing on your crops and spun around in front of Izuku as he threw lapiz at you "Is this what it's like to be a stripper" you chuckled and Izuku snorted at your joke. "Okay that's enough" you say, stopping him from throwing anymore and bouncing off to your enchantment table.

"I can't believe you had 4 extra diamonds and you made an enchantment table and a hoe" he sighed grabbing all the iron from his furnace and spinning to the crafting table to make a new pickaxe and a bucket for milk. He was determined to make a cake just as much as getting diamonds but there was a lack of cows due to bakugo's anger issues when he was in the server. "What would you even have done with them!?" "I COULD HAVE BOOTS (y/n)!" he shouted back and you purse your lips. He could have had boots...

"Okay well I'm sorry I'm rich and have full diamonds" you shrug and he looked up from his controller looking straight forward pinching the bridge of his nose "your a bitch" he laughed and started back down his mineshaft complaining about the steps hitting his head again. "You love me really" you chuckle and he rolls his eyes with a smile "yeah I know" you glance at the facetime and smile, 8 hours, 29 minutes 43 seconds you'd been on a call just playing minecraft in the server you ran for "the lads" as it had been dubbed.

"OOH IZUKU I JUST GOT FORTUNE 3 ON MY DIAMOND PICKAXE!" you exclaim, celebrating by jumping up and down. "Sweet! You're gonna have endless coal!" he laughed and you punched the air excitedly "so much Xp!" "we have an Xp farm" he retaliated and you pouted "Let me be exited" you whined and he awed "sorryyy" he said dragging it out for effect and you huffed "better be."

Izuku's inventory quickly filled with cobble, coal, and iron again, the occasional redstone for Xp and fuck gold, gold sucks. He stumbled into a cave, a platform of stone and on each side was a pool of lava. But Izuku's eyes lit up and he gasped "OH MY GOD!" he shouted digging through the wall to get to the prize. "WHAT!" you shouted back, busy breeding the chickens and throwing eggs in the overcrowded pen. "Sorry but some of you guys have gotta go" you muttered brandishing your iron sword, specifically named "the chicken killer" since you didn't want to waste your diamond sword on chickens. "DIAMONDS!" he shouted back building a platform around the edge of the lave he could walk on and building under the diamonds for safety.

"OH OH MY GOD WAIT THERE AND I'LL MINE THEM FOR YOU!" you say abandoning the chickens and jumping over to his house again. "wait why. This is my moment I've literally never found diamonds and you're gonna take them from me" he asked looking at the phone, your face twisted with concentration. "Because I have fortune 3 and I can make 8 diamonds like 24" you said. "can I mine these ones and tell you when I find more instead I want to mine my own first diamonds." you stopped at the entrance jumping up and down in frustration "okay fine"

As Izuku ventured further into the cave earning probably half a new chest worth of cobble he shouted for you. "I found more diamonds." you immediately sprang into life holding the left stick to go down quicker. "Okay yeah this is really inconvenient" you agreed about bumping your head on the way down and landed at his shaft. "Uhh which way am I going" you asked. "Left" he said. You followed the trail of torches and Izuku's name tag that got bigger the closer you were eventually running into the same square as him. "Move back I can't see" you instructed and he scooted backwards.

You swung the enchanted pickaxe collecting the aqua gems and throwing them at izuku. "That's like 20 something," you said, shrugging at the phone and running off back home. "That was 28" he said running after you to finally make his full iron armor and tools "I have 33 in total" he grabbed sticks from his unorganised chests that you despised and for the first time, made diamond armor in minecraft.

"Oh my god he's wearing BLUE! It doesn't match your colour scheme" you cried shielding your eyes and looking away. "Sorry (y/n) let me just dye my diamonds green real quick" he said, throwing an emerald at you and you feigned shock. "A MIRACLE. TRULY"

"Okay I wanna enchant it" he said following you to the enchantment table. "We do have those enchanted books if you want something specific?" you said but he shook his head "nah i'm doing it old fashioned" he said standing at the enchantment table and taking his time going through, enchanting each item with its purple iridescence.

"What did you get?" you asked, jumping around him excitedly and he hovered over each item. "Respiration on the helmet, projectile protection and unbreaking, wait I got unbreaking as well?" he asked looking at you through the facetime "it does that sometimes" you shrugged and he raised his eyebrows and hummed with the newfound knowledge. "Those on chestplate, protection on the jeans-" "leggings" "whatever, and feather falling on the boots" he said putting all his armor back on and going over his tools "efficiency on the pickaxe, efficiency on the axe, unbreaking on the hoe, unbreaking on the shovel, and fire aspect on the sword" he said stabbing a chicken that immediately went up in flames. "Roast chicken for life!" you cheered.

"Okay you have your full diamond now come to the nether" you said standing in the swirling portal and Izuku whined. "Literally what for!" he asked standing next to you despite his disinterest and the loading screen popped up. "For that Xp, gotta get that nether quartz" you said jumping to a clump of nether quartz and letting the green spheres fall on you watching the bar go up. "(y/n) What's the bridge for?" he asked walking over to the bridge ignoring the magma slime jumping toward you.

"What bri- AGH FUCK NO NO YOU CUBE FUCKING BITCH THINK YOU CAN JUMP ON ME LIKE I'M SOME WHORE WHO DO YOU THINK I AM" (A real thing i've said playing minecraft with my friends) he turned around just as the magma divided into 4 then each of those into another 4 until there were none. "Don't go on that bridge you will absolutely die" you warned and he backed up onto the bridge anyway. You were surprised he even made it halfway before a ghast needed to tell him his place and shoot him right into the neon orange below. "YOUR FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT"

Kaminari, bakugo, and kirishima all joined the call loading up minecraft not expecting to get an earful of your abuse to Izuku who was crying into his controller "I FUCKING TOLD YOU NOT TO GO ON THE BRIDGE BECAUSE A GHAST WOULD KNOCK YOU OFF BUT WHAT DID YOU DO. GO ON THE BRIDGE. I LITERALLY JUST GOT YOU THOSE DIAMONDS ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME YOU BROCCOLI. I WASTED MY FORTUNE BUFF ON YOU."

You loved him really. But you would never be taking him to the nether again.

So this idea has been floating around in the back of my head for over a year now, but I never got around to doing anything with it until the other day when I drew up some designs, and now it’s become my procrastination project, these pages are so fun to do!

But yeah, I wanted to do something which was like, snapshots from Taako and Lup's spellbook, full of my headcanons about them as kids, an excuse to get all expositiony about how I think magic works, and just a chance to write sibling dialogue because that's always fun

Taako mentions in episode one his spellbook is actually just a copy of "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Elves", so I took that and ran with it, the twins found a copy of that book and turned it into their spellbook by writing and doodling all over it. It's sort of part encyclopedia, part high school diary, and part mutual memo board, and I've got so many ideas for this so I'll definitely make more pages when I get the chance, but have these for now!

Remind me - who's the one conjuring food out of thin air or fixing your damn outfits every time you rip them? L: Yeah but can you set a bad guy on FIRE??? Didn't think so XP T: Actually yes. L: that's just cuz you know my spells.

First page: Message Components: Copper Wire. Easy enough to find, doesn’t need replacing, could wear as ring? (Taako has later crossed this out and written over it “Earrings work better.”, there is a doodle of both a wire ring and wire earrings here)

We learned this off that old guy in the... that merc caravan near the west coast? When we were about 40, I think. He was cool, couldn't speak so basically used this for everything, had a lot of great notes about non verbal spell casting (see page 13). Anyway it's basically instant telepathy which is like, hella useful in a bunch of situations. L: Like that time you got your ass stuck in a cave [crossed out by Taako] T: Never happened.

Message is pretty intuitive, point and think. Just be careful to direct it at the target and not broadcast your thoughts to everyone in the area. L: It was ONE TIME!!!

Second page: Mending Components: 2 lodestones. This is a problem - they’re hard to come by. Never did get my first set back after the Ravenpoint militia confiscated them. L: Yeah, cuz you stole them. T: Not important.

The most useful spell I know. In this line of work, things get broken. Clothes get torn. Sisters set fire to everything. L: Hey!! >:( T: You gotta be able to fix your own shit.

Technique for this one - So, you're channelling this through two lodestones, right? Lodestones come in pairs, and they always want to be together. If you let them sit next to each other they'll snap together, and you gotta pull them apart. It's this energy you use to fix whatever got broke, channelling the transmutation power from things that want to be together, into things that don't, like the two sides of a ripped piece of cloth. You gotta be careful though, think about what it is you're fixing. If you just let it snap together like the lodestones, it'll all fuse into a huge nasty mess. You gotta guide it. Imagine like you're holding a lodestone in each hand, and trying to put them together without making a noise. Or actually try that, you have the lodestones. Now imagine that but with the thing you're fixing. If you can swing that, you're golden. And don't try to fix a person with this spell, you'll fuck them up real bad. L: seriously, don’t :(

Hi anon! Thank you so much for your inquiry! Note that these based on my personal opinion, and what's best is up to you!

I'm assuming you already own a computer of some sort, but I'll also list some art programs for your phone/tablet too if you wish to start there!

Both are around the same size, any tablets I saw that had a lower price than this were rather too small. The only downfall when using one of these though is that these do require lots of time to get used to, because you gotta get hand-eye coordination intact.

Here are some free art programs! There is no free trial for any of them, but there are a few exceptions for some that I will list!

Medibang Paint Pro (Mobile and PC) It's a fun and easy to use program! They even have some tutorials if you need them. You can get all the accessible brushes if you make an account. There are some in-app purchases, but I don't really use them.

IbisPaintX (Mobile) This one has LOTS of brushes and materials to choose from! Easy to learn and also has a bunch of tutorials on it. The only downfall is that you gotta watch and ad if you want all the brushes without paying. It has an expiry limit everyday of 18 hrs per ad watch.

Krita (PC) A very customizable program! Quite similar to Photoshop in terms of some of its interface and functionality. A bit harder to get used to, but still easy enough to use!

Oh right! and here are stuff I use! I use a Huion Kamvas 13 (2020), it was within my budget but using a pen tablet is still way better for your wallet and health. I got it because it works with my workflow more. FINALITY in progress

My television faces my drawing board, but I like to have amusement while I work, especially when doing things like color. So, I've got an old laptop on which I watch dvd's set up next to my graphics computer. If I watch on my graphics computer while working, it drags Photoshop.

Warren Ellis and I started working on Finality way back in 2016, but I got too sick to continue for awhile, and it had to go on the back burner. As I'm doing the color here, I realized the lead character in Finality is a dead ringer for Elisabeth Moss, lead actress in The Handmaid's Tale! She'd be perfect in the role, too!

I shoulda finished up this batch of pages last week, but it just wasn't a good week. Made solid progress though.

And this week, there will be more cookie baking, I owe JMS and John Cassaday and a lucky Patreon supporter a big batch. I baked plenty this weekend, but the fam was here and they ate most of them!

OK, I ate some.

Anyway, Finality premieres next month on LineWebtoon!

I was having the worst time with the color, constant crashes, but finally invested in more RAM which, thanks to the advice of my peeps, I got from OWC Computing. They also have handy instructional videos.

I have an old fashioned Mac Pro Tower, which is considered by some to be the Alfa Romeo of computers: ancient, but highly customizable, can handle four hard drives, and in a decade, I've never had a major problem. I haven't even come close to using up all my memory. I'm really happy with it. I'm thinking of investing in SSD hard drives next year. I just did a major clean on my unit, blowing out dust and everything. I feel very responsible, and happy that I got something that lasts. I loathe the disposal nature of most tech, it's so wasteful.

I had to get a new tablet for my current laptop (my old one wouldn't work with the new OS,) so I should be able to color no matter where I am now. I think it's hilarious you can get graphics screens that you can draw directly on for the same price as the old Intuous!

This is the first time I didn't but a Wacom product. I went with an XP-Pen. It was so much less expensive than a Cintiq (and I bought one with damaged packaging which saved me even more money,) that even if I have to replace it 3 times in the next 3 years, it will still be cheaper than a new Cintiq.

I got the 15" model which was probably a little too big for comfort while traveling, but there is a 13" model which costs just under $300.

I don't really see a major difference in the quality between the XP-Pen and the Cintiq. The color isn't as true, but since my laptop has a retina screen, I can just look up to that while I'm working to compare.

I read a lot of complaints about it, such as the claim the pen scratches the surface, or it stops working after a few months. But I read complaints about every brand of tablet. I don't intend to use mine for major work, only for travel, or for when I am sick working in bed, or on a nice day when I can work sitting on the porch. For a travel unit, the price is worth it. Not losing days of work while traveling or sick means it pays for itself.

I'm used to Wacom, and would probably buy a Wacom if I had money to burn right now, because of the tech support. But I had no problem with setting up the XP-Pen or getting the drivers to work. Others complained they did, I simply didn't.

My only complaint is that it seems I have to hold the pen at an angle I don't love to get it to work on the screen, but I had the same complaint about my Intuous. I reset the pressure sensitivity, and that seemed to help, but there were no instructions about how to do so! It took me about a half hour to suss it out.

I've always been vaguely terrified of being without my big graphics computer, wondering when the thing would go home to Jesus and leave me high and dry. I mean, ten years is a long life for a computer. But now I have a mini-work set up that is just as effective for travel and for backup if my big unit needs to go into the shop.

I've also now got Adobe CCS on my laptop, so I guess I'm pretty high falutin' and modern now.

Have you seen the original 13-inch 2015 Surface Book, or its 2018 followup? Then this new version is going to look and feel very familiar. In fact, you’re likely to be underwhelmed by the design. That’s not because it’s bad, but rather because it’s the same. It’s not unusual for Apple to release three samey-looking MacBook Pros in a row, or for Dell to do so with its XPS line, but those laptops come out every year. The Surface Book, Windows’ laptop-tablet hybrid, has retained the same design language since 2015.

That jumped out, because this is an ambitious device that combines the full power of a laptop with the detachable portability of a tablet (oh and double batteries). It’s even one of the few detachable 2-in-1 Windows systems that makes more sense as a laptop.

The Surface Book 3 is certainly luxurious — its terrific build quality is evident from the moment you touch it. Yet seducing buyers with a sexy new design is clearly not Microsoft’s plan. Instead, it’s hoping brute power is enough.

You get a 10th-generation Intel chip no matter what configuration you buy, a nice boost from its predecessor’s 8th-gen CPU. The range starts at $1,599 (AU$2,649, £1,599) but that variant comes with just a Core i5 processor and integrated graphics. You’re far better off dropping extra to get an i7 chip and, more importantly, an Nvidia GTX 1650-Max Q graphics card ($1,999, AU$3,399 and £1,999). This is an improvement over the Book 2’s GPU and Microsoft also offers models with 32GB of RAM ($2,499, AU$4,129, £2,449), double the Surface Book 2’s amount.

The Surface Book 3 isn’t cheap. But though it asks a lot from you, it gives a lot too. A detachable screen makes it both a laptop and a tablet, particularly helpful for creatives when paired with the Surface Pen (which disappointingly isn’t included, it’s an extra $99). It provides welcome gaming and video processing power that’s unusual for a laptop of this size. And, least sexy but perhaps most important, it’s an excellent clamshell laptop, with a particularly comfortable keyboard and a beautiful display.

Still, as good as a laptop as it is, it’s prohibitively expensive for those of you who are simply looking for a laptop to send emails, create spreadsheets and watch Netflix on. But if you’re after a 13-inch laptop with power typically reserved for machines 15-inches and up, or if you’re a fan of the OG Surface Book or its successor and have specific need for the extra power offered here, the Surface Book 3 is a delight. If gaming is your main thing, however, we have a running list of excellent gaming laptops under $999 you should consult.

A unique take

Though the Surface Book 3 is identical in many ways to the Surface Book 2 and the 2 to the original, the Surface Book line itself is unique. There are plenty of tablet/laptop hybrids out there, but most, like the excellent HP x360, are laptops at heart that allow you to fold the keyboard behind the display, making it a tablet. Others, like Microsoft’s Surface Pro and Apple’s iPad Pro lines, take powerful tablets and let you clip on keyboards. A clamshell laptop with a detaching display is exclusively Surface Book territory.

It works well, though there are trade-offs. The most conspicuous one is visual: The fulcrum hinge that connects the laptop base to the screen. I personally like it, as distinguishing features like it are rare in laptops, but many will find it a turn off. And since the display is also a fully functioning tablet, with its own components and battery, it’s much thicker than a standard laptop’s.

There are also small performance sacrifices. The Intel i5 and i7 chips used, because they live in the tablet rather than the base, are 15w rather than the standard 45w versions (Y series vs. U series). This isn’t a huge deal, but it does mean performance will be slightly inhibited for certain tasks. (This was reflected in benchmarking, where the Surface Book 3 performed well for single-core tests but noticeably worse for multi-core.) More rankling, the speaker is also inside the tablet. Not only is it softer than my entry-level, 2017 MacBook Pro, even my phone’s speakers are louder.

Screen time

Small issues like these aside, this is an exceptionally well-made device. One of the best things about the Surface Book 3 is its magnificent screen — its 3:2 ratio feels just right and (vs. the usual widescreen 16:9), with a 3,000×2,000-pixel resolution and plenty of brightness, its display is satisfyingly crisp — which translates directly into a satisfying tablet experience.

As a tablet, there are certainly areas for improvement. You’ll only get around two hours of use when using the Surface Book 3 as a tablet, a fraction of what you’d get in an iPad Pro. At 13.5-inches, it’s too big to comfortably use anywhere, anytime, a problem far more pronounced in the 15-inch model. But once I got used to the size and shape, I quickly began to relish doing my morning reading using the Surface Book 3 as a tablet. Again: The screen is exceptional.

Creatives will get the most use out of it, though again, the Surface Pen is an extra $99 (AU$139, £99).

There’s a separate battery in the screen, though it’ll only last a couple of hours.

Graphics powered up

Apart from the detaching display, the Surface Book 3 has another welcome feature that, though not unique, is rare. It’s common to get discrete graphics in 15-inch laptops, but unusual in 13-inch ones. Even then, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card that comes with all but the entry-level Surface Book 3 is significantly more powerful than the graphics chips usually used in 13-inch machines. The only other 13-inch laptop to offer that kind of graphical grunt is the Razer Blade Stealth ($1,549 at Amazon).

That’s not enough power to make it a serious gaming laptop per se. Though you’ll be able to play most games, you’ll have to reduce the resolution or detail level to get demanding ones to run smoothly. And it’s not quite powerful enough for high-end creative work, like 3D rendering. But it’s enough power to do and play significantly more on this as compared to almost any other 13-inch laptop. I was able to play Rise of the Tomb Raider smoothly in Full HD, albeit with graphical settings switched down, which is a real luxury for a laptop of this size.

Apart from its dazzling display and appreciated power, I was also constantly struck by how high-grade the keyboard is: The Surface Book 3 is far bigger than other 13-inch laptops, but the upside of this is that the keyboard is refreshingly spacious. It’s one of the most comfortable I’ve ever used on a laptop. The trackpad is a little small, but perfectly responsive. Battery life is less superlative, but still above average.

But at such a hefty price, the Surface Book 3 should be great in all those ways. That cost makes it hard to recommend to just anyone. It’s not that the Surface Book 3 is too expensive, rather that the average person is unlikely to take advantage of its many luxuries. But if you are one of those people — a creative, someone looking for a graphically capable 13-inch laptop, or just a person looking for a deluxe device to indulge in — the 13.5-inch Surface Book 3 becomes a much easier recommendation.
