PHANTOM THIEVES OF HOPE - A Danganronpa X Persona 5 Story.
Coming soon...
[Additional Details below...]
//So uh...yeah...Hello Tumblr audience/Survivor audience.
//I apologize for the lack of updates today, and I guess I should let you know that I had a job interview today which took up most of my time. I didn’t want to prioritize the blog over my own wellbeing so I ducked out today.
//But in return, I’ve decided that today will be the day that I unveil my next big DR related project, being Phantom Thieves of Hope.
//Now that I’ve finalized the party for the Persona 5 X Danganronpa AU, I got inspired by the work I put out and decided that I will create an entire fanfic storyline for it.
//I considered doing this for Murder Drones too, but since Murder Drones isn’t finished and not all the secrets have been revealed yet, I need to put that on hold, but given that I love Danganronpa and love Persona 5 just as much, this was something I was super excited to do.
//This story will be where all my other storyline projects are, and will be posted on WattPad. However, depending on how people like it, I’m considering letting it be my first ever Archive Of Our Own fanfic too.
//These will be posted on the fic itself once I upload it to the website, and I will be posting regular updates for it here on the blog as well, but if you’re interested to read it for yourself, there are some guidelines and important information below that I will list for you if so desire to read it:
Tumblr media
#1: The story takes place in it’s own original timeline focusing on Danganronpa’s characters.
//To make it easier to understand what I mean by this, this is not a crossover that features characters from the Danganronpa series ONLY. It’s not a story where the Ultimate’s meet the Phantom Thieves, or where the Phantom Thieves steal the hearts of some of the Hope’s Peak students and characters.
//Take Dreams of Acedia for example, which features Joker as well as the cast of Omori. This isn’t like that.
//Instead, the story will feature the main protagonists of the mainline Danganronpa series as Hope’s Peak Academy students, all of whom change the hearts of the rotten people around them in hopes of averting many of the tragedy’s that were displayed within the core series.
//As for the setting, it’s within the same timeline as Danganronpa 3′s Despair Arc, with a few changes. For example, to canonize the V3 characters, they are first years in Hope’s Peak, while the 78th Class are 2nd Years and the 77th Class are third years.
//As for the DR3 class, they are also students at Hope’s Peak, but part of Class 77B instead.
#2: The plot follows similar story beats to the original Persona 5.
//The story is primarily told from the perspective of Makoto, who takes Joker’s place as the protagonist in the story.
//Any and all similarities between this story and the original plot of Persona 5 are more than likely intentional, as I based the original game’s plotline and story beats off of this one.
//For example, there are 8 Palaces in the story, Mementos is relevant, the team gets acquainted with the other world after meeting a weird cartoon animal, and Makoto has his own fair share of confidants from all 5 iterations of the series that he can meet and greet and grow from.
//Obviously it’s not a copy/paste, since the characters will need to have their own conflicts and stories, but the similar progression of plot to the original game is intentional.
#3: This fic is UNNASSOCIATED with any of my other works/the works of others.
//Whether or not Survivor is the first of my stories or the only one of my stories that you’ve checked out or not, it’s important to know that DRSurvivor’s plot and characters are completely separate from PToH. The same applies to all of my other Danganronpa-related works, including ReCaptured and ReProgrammed.
//In summary, this means that Kuripa Kurafto is NOT present in this story. Nor are any of his friends or any other OC’s from this blog, like Matta or Uchui.
//And yes, I know that I made an artwork of him, but that was just because the original art was made for the followers of this blog, who would KNOW him.
//The story however, WILL feature original characters that I’ve created. For example, the third Palace ruler (who shall not be named) is
//Of course, it also goes to say that anyone else who has made a fic like this, and any similarities between the two, are purely coincidental.
//Some of you may know of a story on AO3 by JustRookie called Danganronpa X Persona: Mirrored Selves. I will state right now that I take no influence from JustRookies’ story, and all the writing in this fic is purely mine own.
//I ain’t no Madarame.
#4: The story is based on SPECIFICALLY Persona 5, not the rest of the series.
//Which effectively means that any integral aspects of games 1 to 4 won’t be
//Persona 5′s style specifically is what I’m going for here, with the Phantom Thieves and the masks.
#5: There will be shipping and romance elements in the story, but not as many in Survivor.
//Just to manage your expectations, much like with Survivor, there will be some personal ship and romance elements in the story, most notably Naegiri, Saimatsu and Tokomaru, but only the far latter will really come into play with the main story.
//Also, as for Hajime, this story will be more Hinanami geared than Hinazumi.
//This isn’t really important at all. I just know that I a lot of you like the pairings in this blog and I want to manage your expectations.
Tumblr media
//That’s all the important information that comes to mind. If anything else comes to your mind and you want to ask about it, feel free to do so through the ask box.
//As things stand right now, I have currently almost finished the first Palace of the story, and I hope sincerely that you all check it out.
//I have been experiencing a bit of writers block with ReCaptured lately, so I’m taking another break from that and focusing on this and Survivor in the meantime. I will also be working on PToH during my break following the end of the current arc.
//And I would just like to say I’d appreciate it if you read the story. You’re all such an amazing audience and I really want to show you more of what I can do.
//Thank you for lending me your time, and stay tuned, fellow thieves~

Since I don't think we share any other fandoms, Danganronpa it is!
1.) the character everyone gets wrong
There are so many, since I suspect the reading comprehension of the average Danganronpa fan is subpar. (If I haven't blocked you, then this jab isn't at you, dw.)
But Mikan is the most glaring. People take her defense mechanisms at face value, and write her inner monologues the same way as they write her dialogues. No way is she consistently that nice. She knows shes a doormat. I perceive that Ch3 is closer to her true feelings than 99% of the fandom thinks, even if Junko undoubtedly makes her worse.
2.) a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
I'm not really that into the PWP aspects of fandom, but pre-sauna scene lines heavily imply that Taka is the top here. You'd think that'd be the fandom default, but nah.
Also, bottom not equal submissive, but most bottom Kokichi fics are WILDLY OOC. If he bottoms, he's bratty and a pillow princess not "uwu soft boy".
3.) screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
There are so many, how can I possibly pick one.
DRV3 spoilers ahead, since idk if you've played that.
hmm. Danganronpa isn't pro incest since Kiyo's backstory is made up by Tsumugi. Okay then, explain Dr3 Mukuro. Explain Leon's FTEs. Explain the multiple pretty heavily implied ships where they call each other siblings. (Looking at you, Soapies and Ishimondo.) Explain why Kodaka CHOOSE to have Tsumugi pick that specifically for his backstory.
4.) what was the last straw that made you finally block that annoying person?
I cannot stand a lot of the people that headcanon Chihiro as trans (I do too, I just dislike the other fans) and act like its fucking canon, when it explicitly isn't. Is it a highly trans-coded narrative? Yes. Is it squicky to some people for that reason, yes. Are people being transphobic for enjoying what actually happened in canon? No you dumbass.
5.) worst discord server and why
OKAY, I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THIS IS STILL A SERVER SINCE IT WAS IN 2021, BUT I ONCE ENTERED A SERVER WHERE CHARACTER DEATH WAS ON THE BLACKLIST. I WISH I TOOK SCREENSHOTS. IN THE CHARACTER DEATH FANDOM.
(A shitton of Danganronpa servers have problems with blacklists, actually.)
Then there was this other time, where I campaigned hard to have a part of the server where people can talk about blacklisted material, since over time that becomes 99% of ships and characters.
And then the server decided that kinnies and people with DAs have the right to not have shit mentioned even in that section of the server. Goodbye!
I'm otherkin too. If you can't stand people talking about you, stay the fuck away from the fandom. Y'all are entitled little pissbabies, and if you tell me what I can and can't write (asking for better tagging is understandable) I will write it to spite you.
6.) which ship fans are the most annoying?
Komahina, 100% Tenmiko is a close second. Yes, its semi-canon. People are still allowed to enjoy other ships w/o being homophobic.

naegi’s bad luck works at the meta-narrative level it’ll always keep him alive specifically to keep making him suffer -> his victory over junko being from the fact he was a normal ass dude wasnt his bad luck, but rather everything that followed was, with him becoming the most wanted person on the planet by the future foundation and ultimate despair -> his continued survival is the literal wrench in the works because of how unpredictable he is -> kamukura agreed to help naegi for two reasons: to see which is stronger between hope and despair following DRAE -> kamukura managed to find a future beyond that-> also agreed to honor nanami and save her classmates specifically because he knew her once and she made him feel -> nanami was also unpredictable as an individual because she brought out kamukuras humanity after hinata gave it away even though that should have been impossible -> kamukura never properly coped because hopes peak dehumanized him and thus when naegi offers him the chance to take back his humanity he accepts-> all of this is bad luck in the sense that naegi saved the people who caused the tragedy and suffered dr3 for it -> kamukura saves him back in hope side but at the cost of revillainizing his classmates (more bad luck)

super anti-komahina salt
and this is to go further beyond
I saw a komahina fan post a write-up and it just irritates me so I want to break it down:
“If you think Komaeda is batshit insane or that his character is only about his obsession with hope and you interpreted Hinata's feelings about Komaeda as just hate of course it wouldn't make sense. Except neither of these are true for their characters.”
This is the basic surface-level narrative Komahina fans argue against, and fair enough, it’s a massive generalisation. But this argument also just irritates me because it implies everyone who doesn’t ship them do so because they don’t understand the characters well enough.
“long story short Komaeda's obsesses over hope as a coping mechanism, because it's the only thing he can cling to.”
I can agree with this in a way, but in my opinion I don’t think he’s so weak that it’s impossible for him break free from that mindset (during the game) if he really wants to.
“Komaeda doesn't like Hinata because he thinks he is talented and above him, Komaeda says he loves all ultimates but it's not real love. His love for Hinata is different. In the SDR2 drama CD he mentions that he loves Hinata because he tries to understand him.”
I can agree with this. Although the Drama CD is literally just the Free Time Events, I don’t think it’s some kind of ‘gotcha’ like people think it’d be.
But also keep in mind, yes, Hajime tries to give Nagito a chance and doesn’t immediately run away screaming because scary person he can’t understand, but Hajime also doesn’t particularly act more saintly than all the other kids towards Nagito after Chapter 1. Nekomaru and Kazuichi seem to at least try to hear Nagito out before they punch him in the face. Mahiru seems like she was the first one to consider giving him breakfast. Hajime tries to stop Akane from attacking him after the Chapter 1 trial, but mostly because he’s resigned to the fact it won’t change what he did, and he then changes his mind and gets pissed off when Nagito decides to taunt him about his amnesia in response. And it’s Sonia who finally settles everyone down. So yes, Hajime tries to understand Nagito, but in the actual plot itself that’s not a special trait unique to him.
It’s only ‘unique’ if you choose to do the Free Time Events, and the Free Time Events...are basically not canon. They’re more like a what-if scenario the player chooses to view, and the dialogue was written from that perspective.
As in, maybe it’s canon that they’d interact like that if they spent time together on the island, but it’s not canon that Hajime does and wants to do that during the story. Because you can do them for everyone.
“And they reach a mutual understanding in DR3 because the two of them are more alike than Hinata would like to admit.”
Um...
Well, this is why DR2.5 is bullshit
I agree they’re similar, but I think both of them knew this from the very beginning. It’s not exactly a reason for reconciliation and forgiveness. The fact they have similarities is the exact reason why Hajime is so upset at his betrayal, and snaps back at Nagito every time he brings that up. So I don’t know if that’s really a good reason to explain why they’ve forgiven each other come DR3.
“Komaeda doesn't see himself as above untalented reserves either, because in 2-4, after realizing the truth about Hinata he says that they are the same, stepladders for hope. He was lashing out at all the students for being despair. They are similar, because they both share the same views that talent is everything.”
And then Hajime gets his character development for the rest of the game all so he can realise talent isn’t everything. So...?
“Now from Hinata's end, a lot of people seem to miss this about him, but he is someone who denies his feelings when they get inconvenient, he is called a tsundere by monokuma”
I guess this is a diss against the surface-level people and people who are like “but the text literally says this”. But even then, the game literally shows Hajime’s inner thoughts. If he’s conflicted about things, the text generally shows that too, even if it’s with a careful inclusion of a ‘...’
So I don’t think we should take that trait as an excuse to literally ignore what the text says.
He was felt pumped when Komaeda was out of critical condition, but he thinks "why do I have to feel pumped, oh well best not to think about it"....because Hinata likes to avoid facing things that inconvenient him. Hinata finds it hard to trust Komaeda and doesn't play along with him, because he is afraid of getting caught in his pace, and not because he hates him and thinks he is better off dead.
This part literally read like a high-schooler’s english essay, and maybe this kid actually is a high-schooler, tbh. Because that is one big leap from “Hajime finds it difficult to deal with his feelings” to “since Hajime finds it difficult to deal with Nagito, it means he doesn’t hate him”.
“I don't think Komaeda is a fundametally bad person but is shaped to be what he is because of his luck cycle. In his last FTE, Hinata asks what Komaeda would do if didn't have his luck cycle, and his answer was something along the lines of " a normal life, devoid of hope and despair". And we get to that his innermost desires is to live a normal life in the OVA, and his character song zansakura zanka.”
He can also just decide to not believe in his luck cycle.
Also, in the OVA, he’s embarrassed by that inner desire and tells World Destroyer he hopes no one saw that maybe he wishes for a world without talent.
Like his desire to be a good person is so hidden that he doesn’t want people to know.
“Hinata even mentions Komaeda isn't trying to trick anyone for selfish reasons in his report card, so it's a shame to see so many people attribute all of Komaeda's actions to malice just because of what Hinata thought of him in chapter 5 because it wasn't clear what Komaeda's reasons were at that point.”
Okay, a few things to unpack here:
Just because Nagito is doing things ‘for the greater good’, doesn’t mean it’s not also selfish. Hajime isn’t going to say that because Hajime doesn’t realise that. You can’t exactly trust him with being able to articulate everything about a character’s worldview. Izuru would. He probably does in Chapter 0. (And that’s why he seems disgusted by him).
Also, there’s “maybe Hajime is a slightly unreliable narrator because he tries to avoid thinking about difficult things”, and there’s “actually, the majority of how Hajime views Chapter 5 is unreliable because he didn’t know for sure if Nagito’s plan was malicious or not, it was just his gut feeling”.
What about the video message after Chapter 5? What about having to spell out ‘KILL US ALL’? What about Chapter 0 showing how in the real world Nagito had completely lost it? It’s not like the game was trying to present Nagito as any little bit more sympathetic after the trial. If anything, every piece of new info reinforced that mindset Nagito was filled with malice, up to the ‘fake Makoto’ saying that he somewhat understood him. The fake Hope made by Junko to trick them.
If you compare Chapter 5 in 2 to Chapter 5 in V3, you can see how the positioning is different. V3 does the “the villain tries to make himself look the worst he can in the mind of the heroes when in reality his real intentions were different” a lot better. More flat-out intentionally - the protagonist kind of literally giving a monologue about how the character was morally grey and even at the end there they couldn’t say they knew their true intentions. But also it’s just not as...sinister as 2-5. No ominous chanting, no dismembered limbs, none of the characters feeling completely out of their element and terrified. I think it’s text that Nagito is supposed to be villainous in Chapter 5 and even past Chapter 5.
So...
I can at least understand where Komahina comes from, but god it annoys me
Unpacking it like this, I can see it’s not even fair to argue back a lot of it - the stuff people are saying do make sense and are arguing against kinds of people I have seen.
Besides, I’m not arguing Komahina ‘can’t be canon’.
My view is just I think Hajime deserves better than a character like Nagito, who never repented for his actions on-screen or even gave much of a hint that he wanted to repent for his actions.
And that it’s still easy to argue that Nagito is a bad person even with his trauma.
Not everyone who calls Nagito an awful person is an idiot who doesn’t know how to read text past the surface, you can still make a nuanced take with that conclusion
for god’s sake

Hello This is kinda weird put I remember reading a good write-up on Miu that like Toko and Mikan she has low self esteem and never really had any friends so she literally doesn't know how to interact with people Plus she's in a situation were she can get killed in any SECOND so add these factors and I think that somewhat explains her lack of empathy and her just constantly being on edge She's in a situation were anyone she gets close to can end her life What do you think about this? Thanks
Hi anon, I don’t think it’s weird at all! Miu is actually one of my favorite ndrv3 characters; I love her to pieces and I agree with this analysis a lot! I believe she gets a lot of flack for being a female character who’s crass and rude and not very empathetic, despite people often idolizing or making excuses for male characters with many of the same traits.
To this day I still somehow see misinformation spread about Miu and used to call her things she isn’t, including blatantly untrue claims like “she forced herself on Kiibo” (which, I cannot make it more explicitly clear how much she does not do this). I’m not saying anyone has to love Miu or consider her their favorite character, I just think she gets an unfair deal sometimes.
It’s been a long time since I got to write a more in-depth analysis of her, so I’ll share more of my thoughts under the cut! Watch out for spoilers as always.
Miu having low self-esteem isn’t just a headcanon or a fan theory; it’s pretty much canon. Despite constantly acting arrogant, loud, and abrasive, Miu is absolutely desperate for validation and attention from others. For as haughty as she likes to act, she backs down almost immediately whenever someone so much as snaps or glares at her, clearly afraid that she’s somehow said the wrong thing or made someone mad at her.
In my opinion, she’s completely unaware of how she comes across to others. She wears her emotions on her sleeve and has no filter whatsoever, and this combined with her desire to be respected and praised for her talents means she’s very difficult to get along with.
I’m not making excuses for her actions; I still think some of the things she says about other members of the group are pretty terrible, and I do, to some extent, simply think she’s not really the type to empathize with others. But I do think part of it is that she’s just completely unaware of how she sounds or comes across to others. She has no understanding of social cues, or what it means to “tone it down” in order to better fit in with other people.
Obviously, it’s not like the other characters are at fault for getting fed up with Miu sometimes or not wanting to spend time with her. Like I said, she’s incredibly loud and abrasive and nearly impossible to please, especially as she’s quick to make fun of others or get mad if she thinks they’re wasting her time. But it’s somewhat… sad, in a way, to see how desperately she does want someone to spend time with her and acknowledge all her positive traits, like being an “amazing gorgeous girl-genius.” She really does strike me as someone who has probably been alone most of her life, and her inability to understand social cues or realize how she sounds to other people means that she never learns from her mistakes or gets any better.
This is part of the reason I actually really love her interactions with both Kiibo and Kaede.
I find it touching that she and Kiibo have such a consistently good dynamic even in the middle of the killing game. In the same way that Kiibo is one of the only characters openly sad after Miu’s death in chapter 4, Miu is perhaps the only character who doesn’t really look down on Kiibo for being a robot; instead, she thinks he’s the coolest person she’s ever met precisely because he’s a robot. And I think there’s a lot to be said too about how both of them are characters that really struggle with understanding social cues or fitting in with a group.
Meanwhile, Miu’s FTEs with Kaede are perhaps the closest we ever really see her get to making a friend or getting included with the rest of the group. I absolutely love how much Kaede refuses to back down whenever Miu is saying something horrible or mean or gross, and how she always puts her foot down whenever she crosses a line. When Miu tries to “compare chest sizes,” Kaede just flat-out punches her for it, leaving Miu baffled and confused, but also with a better understanding of personal boundaries.
Kaede always feels like she’s trying her hardest not so much to put up with Miu, but to understand why she acts the way she does, and puts a lot of thought into what she could do or say that would make Miu want to become more of a team player or open up to people more. The rare moments where Kaede praises Miu and Miu becomes genuinely flustered and taken aback are further proof of how much Miu really wants validation and has no idea how to go about asking for it without coming across like a total weirdo, so I have a big soft spot both for those first few FTEs with Miu, as well as some of their interactions together in the Talent Development Plan.
It’s also interesting that you should mention Miu’s fear of being killed at any point in the killing game as a big reason for why she acts the way she does. I bring up the fact that Ouma has very clear signs of paranoia and a fundamental inability to trust others a lot in my meta—and Miu is no different. In fact, the biggest reason chapter 4 plays out the way it does is because both of them are incredibly paranoid and mistrustful, terrified of getting killed, and this causes what could have been (and was, for a time) a very powerful alliance between them to completely fall apart into pieces.
If I had to draw parallels between Miu and another character, it wouldn’t be any of the other “pervert” characters in DR, or even any of the other inventors/programmers. It would be with Maizono.
Chapter 4 of ndrv3 is, in my opinion, actually incredibly similar to dr1 chapter 1: both Miu and Maizono ultimately make the decision to try and kill someone out of sheer desperation to confirm the state of the outside world with their own two eyes, and both of them ultimately have their own plan turned against them and are killed in the end. Where Maizono’s strongest driving force for wanting to get out no matter the cost is sparked by the sight of her own motive video, Miu’s is sparked by the fear that the outside world may be a total wasteland, and the knowledge that she could actually do a considerable amount of good with her talent.
It’s absolutely correct to say that Miu didn’t trust anyone else. She and Ouma both collaborated together for a time—we don’t know how long exactly, but it’s clear that they were at least working together for a while given the sheer number of inventions that Ouma commissioned from her and provided designs for. The fact remains that the two of them were this close to putting together a plan to take down the exisals so they could escape with everyone else… but again, sadly, both of them were far too paranoid for this plan to ever actually work.
Miu’s biggest problem with the plan as Ouma proposes it is that she simply doesn’t trust anyone else. All the clever inventions and plans in the world won’t pull through if even one person decides to double-cross them or simply put self-interest first. And it’s worth noting that she’s kind of right here, considering Tsumugi was very much still part of the group at this point in time and absolutely would’ve sabotaged their plan using any means possible. So in an interesting turn of events, Miu decides to put her self-interests first and commit a murder in order to escape, because she suspects everyone else of wanting to do exactly the same thing.
Overall, Miu is a deeply flawed individual. She’s loud and rude, demanding and hostile, incapable of recognizing her own mistakes, and deeply paranoid and mistrustful of others. But all of these things are very much the reason I love her. Again, she’s not for everyone. No one has to like her.
But I find it interesting that other male characters who have the same or arguably worse flaws (flaws usually stemming from misogyny, including Souda stalking and harassing Sonia for the entirety of sdr2 with no change in his behavior, or Teruteru who straight up threatens sexual assault both in sdr2 and dr3) often have tons of people willing to defend them and somehow justify their actions, while Miu gets painted as irredeemably bad or has her moments with Kiibo completely skewed out of context.
In any case, these are my thoughts on Miu’s character. I hope I was able to make myself clear! I don’t think that she’s a “poor misunderstood baby” or anything like that by any means, but I do think she’s incredibly interesting and complex, both because of her flaws and because of how undeniably useful her talent was to the group. For someone who was so adamantly against being a team player, it’s amazing how much Miu’s inventions are vital to saving everyone’s lives in most of the game’s trials. Thank you for the fun question, anon!

Dangan Persona AU
Palace #7
Ruled by Makoto Naegi.
Captive is Mukuro Ikusaba (held captive in cell; will be executed for her crimes in the alternate reality if not rescued in time; picked very much the worst day to dress as Junko).
Shadow manifests as Makoto but wearing a creepy long black cloak, like he is the judge, jury and executioner (which he is), who turns into a 4-armed angel, one wielding a shield, the other a huge revolver (like truth bullets), and the 2nd pair holding up the weight of the world’s hope on his shoulders as a shining globe that seems to get heavier as the battle progresses. It’s also immune to Curse skills, which is rather unfortunate because that’s what everyone was betting on it having since Lincoln (and therefore Makoto)’s weak to Curse skills.
Palace is Hope’s Peak as ala the first game but much more pastel, with the walls instead draped in soft silk, light shining down in jarring contrast to the giant metal plates over the windows. It gives everyone the creeps, especially when the 2nd half starts with much more blood and gore appearing on the pristine sheets and floors.
As a little peep to the next palace, this is also where they get a glimpse of a Shadow Nagito. The original had gotten curious and just barely went a bit into the Metaverse. He managed to get out right away, but not before causing his shadow to be spotted tending to a strange memorial garden of class 78 before vanishing.
Finally after frankly too many puzzles, they arrive at the midway point of Mukuro’s show trial at a near exact replica of the red door to the trial grounds. They open up and find the elevator, but what is much more relevant is the metric fuckton of Junko photos and Monokuma memorabilia all over the room, almost all of them horrifically destroyed in rage, aimed at the faces in particular. Since Mukuro was dressed as Junko the day she got abducted (Junko had a scheduling issue and made Mukuro dress as her for class, even though no one else really bought it), this makes everyone rightfully very nervous and reluctantly head down, despite the sick feelings roiling in everyone’s stomachs, because they’re not gonna like this. And nope, they didn’t like it at all.
They came out to see the trial already underway, 2 large stands loaded with masked figures to the sides of the room and a high circle of 15 podiums surrounding Mukuro, chained into a kneeling position as the Judges gazed down upon her. The party looks up to see them, and finds something rather strange. On one side are 9 funerary portraits on raised poles, with the 6 judges in black robes in front of them, all focused on Mukuro. The Judges are cognitive versions of the DR1 survivors, all looking much worse for wear (cognitive Hiro looks exhausted, cognitive Hina is silently sobbing with a funerary portrait of Sakura in her hands, even cognitive Kyoko looks like she was in mourning), with Shadow Makoto in the center as the chief Justice. It’s right at the ending of the trial, and Mukuro is declared guilty for conspiracy to end the world, to the disgust and horror of the crowd.
Mukuro tries to argue, saying that this must be a mistake, they have the wrong person. Shadow Makoto tells her that no, they know full well who she is, Mukuro Ikusaba (full name, no honorifics). He continues, telling her, in no uncertain terms, all of the crimes he knows of from the alternate timeline committed by the Ultimate Despair. “And to prevent that from occurring, we must tear the despair out, root and stem. Junko would be nothing without her little cronies, after all. What better way to end this right now than by her dearest sister’s death, leaving her powerless?” Then the Shadow has her trapped inside of a cage and sent down to the dungeons to await her execution, before the party can help her.
The rest of the palace works in a similar way to the first half, but everything goes into straight up horror movie territory. Like they were creeped out before, but now it was fucking all sorts of terrifying. It’s pretty much an amalgamation of all of Makoto from the other timeline’s trauma and survivors guilt from the first game. This part of the palace also has a bunches of minibosses that they have to fight through in the second half because holy crap, those things are fucking horrific. The minibosses are all the souls lost to the killing school life and it is very much not pretty. Sayaka covered in blood impaled with knives; Leon tied to a pole, pummeled to a pulp, chucking bloody baseballs; Chihiro with his head bashed in, using a mess of cables and screens to interact with the world; Mondo as a hellish biker that seems to be melting; Taka the terrifying sergeant with his head bleeding; Hifumi with his head bashed in as well, using his horrific Junji Ito-style magical girl drawings for attacks; a thing so burnt and smashed up that they could only identify her as Celeste because of the twin drills; Sakura as a silent warrior, constantly coughing up poison and blood. Even a makeshift “Mukuro”, hardly able to move from all the spears through her body. Holy crap, did that freak everyone out and make them very glad when they next saw their friends again at dinner because they’re alive!
The time limit this time is because Shadow Makoto, while being a twisted mess of repressed anger, sadness, and misery, is also fundamentally a good person and doesn’t want to kill Mukuro before she had even done anything, even though he knows that she’s guilty as sin of conspiring to destroy the world and everything in it (in the canon timeline). That’s actually where the party comes in, because by the time they clear the palace, the Shadow had finally decided that it was now or never and he needed to do this now. When they rush in to stop him, that’s when the boss fight starts.
The fight is genuinely hard as hell and the Shadow isn’t holding back. The attacks are all similar to the various minigames from DR1, just with a Persona flair. Makoto’s providing as much support as he can without being able to control his own persona, with the Shadow lashing out every time that Makoto offers his emotional support. Eventually, they notice that the giant ball of hope is getting heavier to the point of nearly crushing Makoto, who’s holding up the globe like Atlas holding the sky. His Shadow’s about ready to cry, begging the others to stop as Makoto encourages them all to keeping fighting and to not give up now. The battle only stops when they finally get Makoto to confess that he’s not always the bright ball of sunshine that they think he is and that even he needs help sometimes. With that resolved, the shadow returns to being Makoto’s persona, now instead of Lincoln, he is Logos (basically the closest to Jesus as I can get without making an even bigger mess in the MegaTen universe)
[Holy shit, I feel like I wrote a whole novel here! I’m ending this here, good night!}
---
Mod: The design for Makot's shadow is so flipping awesome. It’s so fitting for Makoto considering that he’s the main speaker during the class trials (cause MC and all) and this is literally a trial his shadow is holding, with the shields and revolver in each hand. Though my favourite is him holding up the worlds hope like Atlas with the sky, cause it’s still my favourite part of his character development that he admits in the DR3 anime that he’s sometimes really overwhelmed with always having to be positive as the Ultimate Hope but still keeps it up for ever (and as entertaining the anime was, it was one of the only good things it did story wise, but that’s a different topic altogether...)
The palace must be so disturbing for the party, cause up until now every palace was basically a fantasy place representing something of the person’s life/personality. But now they are in a twisted and later on gory version of their own school, and still don’t know anything of the past timeline. But things are starting to get unravelled now. Though most disturbing must be the memorial garden for their very much alive friends. The fact that the survivors, who were not among the memorial photos, are the judges who look like they experiences something very awful and traumatic. Not to mention the tons of destroyed Junko photos
That the minibosses are the victims in an all horror like fashion, where I’m imagining something along the lines of DR3 anime with Makoto’s despair hallucination, must be so brutal cause these are literally the “corpses” of their friends that are attacking them, who are in this timeline alive and happy
I can only imagine how hard it must have been for everyone to see how Makoto’s shadow actually is, which is basically being overwhelmed with all the support he has to give all the time. Cause everyone does lean a lot on Makoto (not that leaning on people is bad, but there is a limit how much one person can handle, even for Makoto)

I decided I wanted to try one of those DR Ask meme’s, but I decided to do it a little differently and I’m just gonna answer all the questions.
This one is made by @muzumi-san but I didn’t repost theirs because I don’t want them to directly see my shitty opinions.
1. Favourite game?
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. It just had the best characters, best plot twists and best trials in my opinion.
2. Favourite Protagonist?
It depends. If it’s in terms of writing, Shuichi. Otherwise, it’s either Hajime, or Kaede.
3. Favourite antagonistic character?
Kokichi is my favorite in general of the three, but as an antagonist, I like Nagito more.
4. Favourite character?
Kokichi Ouma. I know, he’s a fan favorite and you’re probably sick of hearing him get talked about, but dude, he’s just great.
5. Best girl?
Mahiru Koizumi.
6. Best boy?
Gonta Gokuhara or Gundham Tanaka.
7. Favourite class trial from all the games?
For Game 1, it’s Case 2. I love the twists and use of the Red Herring aspect in regards to the locker room. For Game 2, Case 4 is my favourite, but Case 5 is the better one in terms of mystery. For Game 3, Case 4. The fact you have to rely on video game logic to solve the case is really neat.
8. Least favourite character?
Without a doubt, Yasuhiro Hagakure, for several reasons that I’ve stated previously.
9. Least favourite class trial?
Game 3, Case 3. That whole case was just bullshit after Bullshit.
10. What would be your Ultimate Title?
Ultimate Animator, like Mitarai, but you know...Better.
11. Favourite cast?
As I’ve already mentioned, Danganronpa 2. My least favorite member of that cast is Akane, but even her, and the more disliked characters like Teruteru and Hiyoko, I love all of them. They’re all great.
12. Favourite Danganronpa 3 character?
Seiko Kimura. She’s such a fun character who I think deserved better.
13. What’s your opinion on the Danganronpa 3 anime?
I fucking hate it. The only episodes of it that I actually consider to be good, are the first two episodes of Despair Arc, and the final episode. The characters and cast genuinely piss me off half the time, especially Juzo, Munakata and Ruruka, and the writing was just generally shit throughout the entire thing.
14. What do you think about Danganonpa 1 anime?
I actually think it’s alright. Video Game anime’s tend to not be as good as the games (unless it’s Persona 4′s animation, which was actually awesome) and the same goes for Danganronpa. The game is generally more enjoyable than the anime, but the anime wasn’t bad all things considered.
15. Your absolute OTP?
SAI-MAT-SU! SAI-MAT-SU! SHIP-THAT-GETS-SHIT-ON-TOO-MUCH! SAI-MAT-SU! SAI-MAT-SU!
16. Your absolute BROTP?
I guess Sakuraoi? I get why people ship them, but Sakura is one of the characters who canonically has a boyfriend, and I just think they make really good friends other than girlfriends. No disrespect for anyone who likes them together though.
17. Do you have an OT3? Which one?
I’m not crazy about my OT3′s, since they’re mostly two characters who are romantically involved, with a third wheel/wingman on the side, but yes, I do have at least one for each game. For the first game, it’s Chishimondo (Taka, Mondo and Chihiro) for the second game it’s Sonsoudam (Sonia, Gundham and Kazuichi) and the third game, it’s Tenhimiangie (Tenko, Himiko and Angie)
18. Favourite rare ship?
There’s a ship I like called Nagiseiko or Komamura, which is Nagito Komaeda x Seiko Kimura.
19. Who do you think is an underrated character?
There are quite a few, like Nekomaru and Mahiru for instance, but I absolutely have to say Mondo. He has arguably some of the best characterization among the DR1 cast, and he’s my favorite killer in the first game purely because of his backstory and motive, and how he reflects upon the second case’s whole theme, and yet nobody seemed to focus on that importance. God Speed, you wonderful JoJo reference.
20. Who do you think is an overrated character?
Please don’t hurt me when I say this, but absolutely Chiaki. Many can chew me out for liking Kokichi, who in himself is overrated, but for a deuteragonist, Chiaki really doesn’t do an awful lot until Chapter 4-5
21. Favourite voice actor?
In terms of performance, either Derek Stephen Prince (Fuyuhiko and Kokichi) or Marieve Herington (Celeste)
22. Favourite talent?
Ultimate Detective. Shuichi and Kyoko are both really cool.
23. Favourite mascot?
Monokuma, duh! Compared to Monomi and the Monokubs, neither of them have shit on him.
24. Favourite Monokub?
1000% Monodam. All of them suck, except for him. (And Monotaro’s fine for the most part, but Monodam will always be the best)
25. Least favourite mascot?
Mono-fucking-phanie.
26. Favourite execution?
Leon Kuwata’s, the 1000 Blows. As they say, you never forget your first.
27. Least favourite execution?
Mikan Tsumiki’s, Bye Bye Ouchies. For reasons I don’t think I even need to state.
28. Favourite unused execution?
I really like Kazuichi’s unused execution that involves the drill.
29. Which character should survived in your opinion?
If we’re talking characters I wanted to survive, then I would’ve loved to see Chihiro make it to the end of DR1. As much as I love the importance of his passing, I really wanted him to get out alive and unscathed.
30. Which character would’ve deserved to survive?
In each game, there’s at least one character I think should’ve deserved to make it out alive. For the first game, it’s absolutely Taka, for the second, Hiyoko, even though I’m not strong on her, and for the third game, Ryoma, for the same reason everyone else thinks he should’ve lived.
31. Is there a character you think who shouldn’t have survived but did?
Yasuhiro did basically nothing to contribute to the class trials, or the overall progress in figuring out the mysteries of the academy. He never pulled his weight, and for some reason, he still managed to live through the killing game.
32. Least favourite protagonist?
I love her, but Komaru. She just doesn’t reach the same level as the others.
33. Character with the best clothing?
Celeste absolutely nails the gothic lolita style and it fits really well with the type of character that she is.
34. Best character design?
Gundham and Celeste.
35. A character who should’ve got more character development?
Kirumi, without question. She’s arguably my least favorite in the V3 gang purely because of her lack of development. She deserved better writing than what she got.
36. Character who looks amazing but you don’t like?
I love Ruruka’s design, but I hate Ruruka’s character. The same goes for Sonosuke Izayoi, who looks badass but got no development.
37. Favourite minor character?
For the little screen time he got, I vibe with Taichi Fujisaki.
38. Favourite eyes?
What? Uh...no preference?
39. Smartest murder plan?
Gundham’s plan in the 4th case of the 2nd game. He used pretty much every aspect of the funhouse to pull his plan off, and I love it.
40. Favourite culprit?
Gundham Tanaka, for what I’ve just mentioned, plus his motivation, and overall character.
41. Person you’ve never expected to become a culprit but they became? (Doesn’t include Chiaki)
I guess Mondo, Peko and Kiyo from each of the games. They all exude the energy that they COULD kill someone, but the chances of them actually doing it don’t seem that high, and yet...
42. Honest opinion on Tsumugi Shirogane?
I thought she was boring character at first, even after she was revealed to be the mastermind, but I’ve come around since then and I respect her as a villain a lot more. Being the only villain in the game who’s not directly tied to Junko, that at least gives her a bit of uniqueness.
43. Describe Monaca Towa in 3 words!
Piss Baby UGH!
44. Describe Nagito Komaeda in 3 words!
Extremely Entertaining Character
45. Unpopular opinion?
I think Hifumi Yamada is a pretty decent character overall. His Free Time Events, while awkward, were quite enjoyable, and he conveys the strong message that appearances aren’t everything. He’s aware of how different he looks compared to everyone else, but to him, it’s what’s on the inside and what he can do that matters.
46. Unpopular headcanon?
I don’t really have many major headcanons, and I have none that I would consider unpopular. I guess I’ll say “The V3 cast have a group chat in a Non-Despair AU that they meme the shit out of.”
47. A headcanon you have about a character?
In the ask blog that I run, Mikan and Ibuki are an item, and after they become one, Mikan discards her bandages and dyes a highlight in her hair. I live for that, so I guess that’s my answer.
48. Favourite OST?
If we’re talking about a game soundtrack, then either Danganronpa 2′s, or Ultra Despair Girl. If we’re talking about my favourite song in the whole series though, then my favourite is the opening theme to Future Arc in DR3, Dead or Lie.
49. Favourite mini game?
I don’t really have one. I have minigames that I like, and Minigames that I hate (looking at you “Improved” Hangman’s Gambit) But I guess I like Scrum Debate in concept a lot.
50. Favourite game design?
V3 is the most aesthetically pleasing DR game.
51. Character you thought you were gonna dislike but loved in the end?
Maki was such a piece of shit in my opinion at the beginning of V3. Of course, the development she gets reprimands that amazingly. I WOULD say Tenko, but I hated Tenko when I finished V3, and it was only after a short time later that I really turned around on her.
52. Character you thought you would like but disliked in the end?
I guess Angie? She was pretty annoying even before I outright disliked her, but then the whole third chapter brainwashing thing happened and I’m like, “this bitch suck for real!”
53. Favourite game end?
Danganronpa 2′s, and I don’t wanna hear all the “Ugh, the anime bullshit, ugh!” From a writing perspective, the second game just had the most enjoyable ending.
54. Least favourite game end?
I guess Danganronpa 1′s but even that wasn’t too bad. I have incredibly mixed feelings about V3′s twist ending, but I’ve grown to accept that it happened and there’s not a lot I can do about it...
55. Favourite love hotel scene?
Kaede’s. J-Just Kaede’s...That scene gives me the right amount of serotonin that I can keep going with my day.
56. Best free time events?
Hard to say, but I really liked Taka’s. Most of the FTE’s in Danganronpa tend to be pretty nice (unless you’re Hiro), but for him, I loved learning about the circumstances behind his family, how it corrolates with why he acts the way he does, his spite against people who call themselves “geniuses” and why they suck, and everything about his character just hits right.
57. Character who should’ve lived longer?
Kirumi or Ryoma.
58. V3 Pregame! headcanon?
“They aren’t evil creatures with a pessimistic look on life!” Seriously, why the hell do people headcanon the pre-game V3 cast as evil and masochistic bastards. Sure, their look on life was very cynical and pessimistic, and some of them wanted to join V3 for the money or the fame, but that’s just basic human nature and desire. That doesn’t mean everyone in V3 was an inherently bad person before they joined Danganronpa. They aren’t the remnants of despair for fucks sake.
59. Favourite moment?
Shuichi’s final stand in V3 really showed his growth in character, and his refutation “WE’RE GONNA END DANGANRONPA!” gave me goosebumps.
60. Saddest moment?
Gundham’s Execution made me cry, and I almost shed tears in Peko’s final moments. My answer therefore, is those two.
61. Character who looks like the love child of ???
Shuichi has always looked like the love child of Makoto and Kyoko or Makoto and Mukuro. I don’t have any parental headcanons though, and prefer to think of Shuichi as his own character.
62. Describe Mikan Tsumiki in 3 words!
Needs Love Mending! She’s an emotionally broken girl who needs love to heal her fragile heart.
63. Describe Kyoko Kirigiri in 3 words!
The Best Deuteragonist. By that, I mean out of all the characters who are most relevant to the plot alongside the protagonist and antagonist (which includes Chiaki and I guess Kaito too) Kyoko is the best one in my opinion.
64. Which character seemed like they were gonna be a culprit but they wasn’t?
I honestly expected Sonia to kill someone several times in DR2, but she ended up making it to the end. I’m not disappointed though, and I’m glad she never ended up snapping.
65. Who did you never expected to die but they died?
Kaede, no doubt about it. C’mon, she was set up to be the protagonist and then she got executed falsely. Rantaro also surprised me honestly, as did Fake Togami in Game 2.
66. Describe the last trial from V3 in 3 words!
An Absolute Clusterfuck. Not the bad kind, mind you, but Jesus, that trial was long and confusing.
67. Which character would you never want to meet in real life?
There are several honestly, but I’m gonna narrow it down and say Junko. Anyone who meets her is doomed to have their life ruined.
68. Which character would you like to meet in real life?
I relate to most of the weeb and dorky characters, so I guess either Hifumi or Non-Evil Tsumugi.
69. Choose one character which you would take with you on a trip.
Mikan would be handy to have around in case I get injured while on a hike or something.
70. Character you would have a sleepover with?
I don’t feel any sort of attraction to her romantically, and I tend not to for fictional characters, but Kaede is someone I’d really want to hang out and be friends with.
71. Character you can relate to?
Makoto, and I know that’s the whole point of his character, but even though he’s kind of basic and lacking in any significant personality, I still like him a lot.
72. Character you can relate to but you dislike them?
I sympathize with Kiyo’s plight, and how he suffered a lot of emotional abuse from his sister, but with his final moments and how much bullshit came from it (particularly the implied incest subplot) I just couldn’t feel anything except eagerness when I watched him die.
73. Character who deserved better?
Than what they got, I guess Taka.
74. What do you think of Hiyoko Saionji?
If she had survived the game, she’d have been recognized as great a character as Fuyuhiko, since she would have had time to develop. Unfortunately, her lack of growth thanks to her death relegates her into just being “that bitch from Danganronpa” In general though, I don’t dislike her at all, I’m just not as strong on her as I am the rest of DR2′s cast, or DR’s cast in general.
75. Describe Gonta Gokuhara in 3 words!
The Best Boy.
76. Favourite research lab?
The research labs are a cool concept that I really wanted to see more of in things like Fangans. I think my favorite is either Shuichi’s or Kokichi’s.
77. What do you think of the fandom?
Honest to god, I feel more comfortable in the DR Fandom than I do any other Fandom I’m a part of. We have cringe, toxicity and the same old jokes, yes, but other Fandom’s I’m in, like Persona and My Hero Academia, have the same on a whole other level. I think the majority of the Danganronpa Fandom truly does genuinely care about the game series and I appreciate that.
78. Favourite random/unnecessary scene?
The Man’s Nut scene in Danganronpa 2 was god damn hilarious. I never ever really thought the Peeping Tom scenes in each game were wholly necessary and just existed as cheap fanservice, but the Man’s Nut scene is SO damn funny!
79. Which character has the cutest design?
Chihiro is the most adorable bean in the universe.
80. Hope or Despair?
I have no real preference, but I choose Hope because I like to think I’m not a bad person.
81. Could you be the Ultimate Lucky Student?
Probably not. I dunno.
82. Favourite chapter?
DR2 Chapter 4. The funhouse chapter hit differently.
83. Least favourite chapter?
DR2 Chapter 3 and DRV3 Chapter 3. The former primarily due to the Despair Disease and Nekomaru’s death at the hands of Akane’s stupidity, and the latter because of reasons I’ve already mentioned, particularly Angie’s Student Council.
84. Which character do you easily forget?
Pretty much half the Danganronpa 3 cast. Particularly Tengan, Izayoi, Gozu and Bandai.
85. Could you be a Dangan Protag? Why?
I’d love to be, but I’m not as quick-witted or inquisitive as the likes of Makoto, Hajime and Shuichi.
86. Favourite Anthology chapter?
I like a lot of them, but the one where they all make chocolate is really cute.
87. Describe Peko Pekoyama in 3 words!
She’s pretty cool. There’s not much to say about her. Even if she is the one who killed Mahiru, a character I love, she’s a lot more important to the plot than many realize, especially in regards to Fuyuhiko’s subplot.
88. Describe Mondo Oowada in 3 words!
Completely Underrated Marvel. Just refer to Question 19.
89. Least favourite Danganronpa 3 character?
Pretty much any of them that aren’t Seiko, Ryota, or Yukizome. I’m gonna say Juzo though, because of his whole bullshit that Junko used against him, and how the tragedy is primarily his fault.
90. Do you like Junko?
Not at first, but I like her a lot more as a villain now. She wasn’t that fun in the first game, but was better in the second.
91. What do you think of Monokuma?
As far as game mascots go, he’s alright, however, the more the series goes on, the less relevant he becomes. In V3, he serves no real importance, and the game may have been just as good without him, leaving us with just the Monokubs. I hate the Monokubs, but that’s primarily because their existence just takes Monokuma’s importance away. V3 would be so much better if we had one without the other, either way around.
92. Least favourite Monokub?
*Heavy breathing* Mono... *Heavy breathing* Fucking... *HEAVY BREATHING* PHANIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEE!
93. Did you like the Monokubs?
Not for the most part. Monophanie and Monokid suck, and I hate them both. Monosuke sucks for similar reasons, but he’s just kinda...boring...Up until the whole incest imagery in Chapter 4′s trial, Monotaro was actually ok, and had some really funny lines, and as I’ve mentioned, I love Monodam a whole lot, since he was the only one who had something close to a character arc.
94. Did you like the Warriors of Hope?
I guess? I do feel bad for most of them, but at the same time, they can be really annoying. They ARE just kids, so I get it, but still. Masaru, I really didn’t care for. He was arguably the most annoying, and Jataro, while I felt bad for him, wasn’t much better. Kotoko was pretty fun in the end, and Nagisa was a really well written character with a strong morality to him. Monaca is a pretty sinister villain too, but I don’t like her as much as Junko and Tsumugi.
95. What do you think of Gundham Tanaka?
HE IS EXCELLENT AND I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! Also, as I’m writing this, it’s his Bday, so happy Bday to Gundham Tanaka.
96. Who’s an overrated character you dislike?
I said Chiaki was overrated, but I don’t dislike her. I guess people like Kirumi too much considering how little development she gets overall.
97. Overrated ship which is your NOTP?
Komahina, do not test me on this. Everywhere I go, I see that ship that I know, from analyzing Nagito and Hajime’s relationship throughout the series, is incredibly toxic and would never realistically happen simply due to Nagito’s nature, and the way his FTE’s end means nothing to me.
98. Outfit you dislike?
Everyone’s always saying that Akane’s design sucks, and while I’m not too concerned on it overall, I do completely agree.
99. Your absolute NOTP?
Komahina again, and I guess JunkoMikan.
100. Opinion on all the Protagonists!
Makoto is relatable as hell, and I sympethise with him a lot. It’s quite fun to play as him in the first game, because he reacts more regularly to the characters in a way that most people probably would. I love Hajime’s reactions, and his backstory. I’m not too fond on most of the memes around him, like Organe Juice and the 91cm Titties, but in general, his reactions to things and the way he tends to call out his classmates is pretty entertaining. As I mentioned, Komaru, and I guess Toko, are my least favorite protagonist(s) but I still care about them both greatly. Komaru is as relatable as her brother, and UDG gives Toko the character development she so greatly needed in Game 1. Kaede is amazing, and is a character who gets too cussed out by people both in the game, and outside of it, and her death was super relevant, and an amazing twist I didn’t see coming. She’s just awesome in general. Shuichi, while Kaede’s death did upset me, he was an equally great protagonist, and I loved watching his growth throughout V3.

with age comes wisdom ( or at the very least, entirely unneccessary celebrations )
Characters /  Pairing: Fukawa Touko / Naegi Komaru ( focused ), Syo / Komaru, Warriors of Hope
crossposted on ao3
Notes: happy @tokomaruweek week everyone!! i love these funky wlw so i am going to try and have some stuff up this week, but i probably won’t manage to do the whole week / i'll go back to do the ones i miss afterwards? we’ll see.
for today i decided to combine the birthdays + warriors of hope prompts.
i’m also just ignoring canon’s timeline bc god knows i did not want to figure out that bs sorry dr3 ily but i dont love you that much just know it is somewhere post sdr2 / pre dr3 probably?
i also use they/them for syo ( nonbinary hc ) and while there aren’t any specific trauma mentions, given the group of characters this revolves around, there’s refrences to the fact they have shit lives. and some lighthearted murder jokes and self-deprication?
Summary: nothing says happy birthday quite like babysitting her ( favorite ) group of brats
It’s just her luck that this would happen— a coincidence for sure, but that doesn’t make Touko any happier about the whole thing.
This is the situation: they don’t usually see the ( former ) Warriors of Hope much. The kids stay on their side of Towa, and her and Komaru tend to stick closer to the adults. The adults are the ones that need to be kept under supervision, in her opinion. Not that the kids are blameless, but is there much reasoning with brainwashed kids? No. Of course not. Are the adults also practically brainwashed and hard to reason with. Yes. Would this all be easier if Future Foundation was involved? Yes. Yes it would, but for obvious reasons they are not ( they have all agreed to omit some information from public record for the sake of those involved, and right now Naegi’s stunt with the Remnants have Future Foundation’s attention away from them ).
Sometimes Komaru takes some of the things that they get over to the kids because things are rough enough as it is, and Syo will go with her because they can keep the Monokuma off their tracks better. Or you know, because Syo is generally more helpful to Komaru when it comes to things like that. She’s not jealous.
Allegedly— Touko does not know this for a fact herself since she hadn’t been fronting, and only learns this second hand while she is in the middle of typing up a report to send back to the foundation— Kotoko is the one to bring it up, casually handing off some of her share of the cookies Komaru had made for them, to Jataro. An early birthday present, she had said ( pointedly ignoring Nagisa, who’d pointed out she had given Jataro the ones he hated ), before turning to Komaru to ask if they could throw a party. A small one. With no murder, because that would be ‘totally not adorbs’. And no adults, because they stink ( it goes unsaid that Komaru and Touko themselves are the clear exception to this rule, which is some kind of progress, supposedly ).
That seemed like a fairly reasonable request, according to Komaru, who’s only response was to ask when his birthday was. And then accidentally lets it slip that hey, that’s the week that Touko-chan’s birthday is! And that’s how Touko finds out that apparently, she’s having a joint birthday party with the kids because Masaru managed to turn a party into a competition, somehow? Touko has no clue what that actually entails, because Komaru refuses to elaborate.
( Also, at one point before leaving, Komaru had tried asking Jataro if there was anything she could get him; to which he’d remarked, “A new mask?”
...Yeah, Touko can’t blame her for not knowing what to say to that, even if Komaru had spun it as not the most self-deprecating thing he could have said, which was an improvement? She personally disagrees, but whatever )
Here, she should point out the obvious fact that she does not want to really celebrate her birthday, let alone have a party for it. Because those kind of things lean so far into the zone of things Touko doesn’t really know how to handle, that it makes her close to uncomfortable. And if— if she had humored herself in imagining how she would ideally spend her birthday this year; quite frankly, it would be very quiet and boring and only with Komaru. Not with a group of ten year olds. Ten year olds that she might think of rather fondly, but ten year old brats all the same.
( It’s not like she has any alive friends: if Touko acknowledges the other survivors, justifiably they are too busy with more important matters to fuss over a birthday. They aren’t kids anymore. Some of them hadn’t ever really been like normal kids to begin with, but that’s besides the point )
“Look at the bright side,” She starts, and she bites back a snide what bright side and remark about how that’s all Komaru’s good at ( it’s not. She’s more talented than she gives herself credit for ). “None of you probably have really positive memories when it comes to birthdays or parties, so even if it isn’t the greatest, at least the bar to please should be pretty easy to clear!”
Touko thinks she probably gets the point she is trying to make here, but Komaru’s complete and utter lack of tact doesn’t make for the best delivery. “Are you trying to...to make me feel bad? S-So sorry my life was complete sh-shit growing up.”
“No! That’s not what I meant at all!” Komaru pouts at her. “Does that mean you’re not interested in having a party?”
It’s not like she’s so cold-hearted and selfish that she’s going to say no to that. Well, no, that’s not quite true, Touko might be just that; but it doesn’t really matter either way, because Komaru gives her best kicked dog impression, so she says ( a less than enthusiastic ) no, she doesn’t mind, yes you can have a party; even if she thinks she’ll probably regret that choice.
Okay, if you are to be honest with herself, some part of Touko that never got to be a normal child doesn’t entirely mind the thought of a party, even if it’s...not the most ideal scenario, the impractical fantasy situation that lives in her head. But if she says that aloud, Komaru will either take it too seriously, use it as an excuse to celebrate things more often, or something else that probably has consequences that she doesn’t want to think about. And also admittedly because if she says it aloud, she has to acknowledge it, and maybe she doesn't want to get her hopes up over something as stupid as a party.
( There’s also the fact that, deep in her extremely repressed memories of Hope’s Peak before the tragedy, she does remember parties. Birthdays. Celebrating things with her classmates, if somewhat forcibly so. She has no desire to remember those things, so those feelings remain repressed with most of her trauma )
It’s easy to not acknowledge any of that when she has to deal with the sudden onslaught of a headache that is Syo forcing themselves into their shared headspace, hand rubbing at her temples. Not trying to co-front, she can tell they aren’t trying to snatch control from her ( for now ), just forcing her to pay attention to them. It works, even though Touko has told them to not do this specifically because of how irritating it is for her.
I could scare the kids into cooperating? It’ll save us a headache and a half! Syo offers, maybe too eagerly. Their ideas of scare and cooperate are probably different from her own. Still. She also knows Syo is aware of more than they are letting on, given that they had been present when this conversation had occurred, but she doesn’t think she’ll get much out of them in that regard.
No. Touko tells them firmly. It’ll be counterproductive, Komaru won’t let you do that, and they’re all traumatized enough without you adding to that.
Boo, you sure about that? Consider it a birthday gift from me!
No. She repeats herself sternly, and she feels them withdraw a bit after that. Ugh, Syo hasn’t had a chance to front much recently, now that she thinks about it. Since they usually only take over when she’s in danger, and she hasn’t really been in ( as much ) danger now that things are starting to calm down. Well, relatively speaking. Syo is probably just looking for an excuse to be allowed to front, since it’s probably rough going from being very present to rarely getting the chance to be out: akin to going cold turkey on an addiction. That’s not exactly her fault ( or theirs ), but maybe she’ll ask Komaru if she’d be okay with hanging out with Syo more, if only to placate them a little, before they try something more drastic.
“Everything okay? That was Syo, right?” She hears Komaru ask after a few minutes, and Touko rubs her eyes and blinks. “You looked a little frustrated.”
She considers telling her the truth, but no point in getting her concerned over nothing. She’d like to figure out what she wants to negotiate with Syo firstm so she’ll leave that conversation for another time. “Fine. They just...ugh, just wanted to make sure I was okay with it.”
“And you are okay with it, right? You aren’t agreeing just because I asked?” Touko thinks she begged more than she asked, but she’s pretty sure Komaru will only sulk if she brings that up.
“I wouldn’t let you if, if I was really opposed to it.” Probably. She...trusted Komaru, or something like that, so she figures she’d probably be more honest with herself and not mentally torture herself by putting herself through something she has no interest in. “But...what are you even planning on doing to celebrate? I can’t im-imagine we’ve really got much around here that we can use for a party.”
“Ah. Uhm.” Komaru looks a little embarrassed at that. “About that. I was kind of hoping you and Syo might help pitch in. You don’t mind, right?”
You’re hopeless, she wants to mutter, but—
Yeah!!!! Syo wakes right back up upon being mentioned, no sense of self awareness at all, much to your annoyance, but it’s not like you completely disagree with the feeling that is shared between you two.
“You— You really bit off more than you could chew, hm...? Good thing this wasn’t supposed t-t-to be a surprise.” She quips, leaning over to peer at the paper she’d been making her notes on. “We’ll help, just tell us what we...what we need to do.”
“Thank you, Touko-chan! And Syo too!” Komaru sounds somewhere mixed between grateful and relieved, and casually plants a kiss on her cheek as if it’s no big deal—
She said my name last, so the kiss was for me! She knows Syo is intentionally trying to provoke her and get a rise out of her ( yeah, a rising sense of jealousy ), but puts that aside for the time being because Komaru’s blabbering on like nothing happened.
“I know we probably won’t have the whole day to ourselves to do whatever—” Correctomundo, Dekomaru! “— but I’ll make it up to you on your birthday, okay? We’ll do something that you want.”
“You don't...there’s no need for that.” She forces out between gritted teeth, trying to ignore the flustered feeling in the pit of her stomach, chewing around a fingernail ( what an unattractive sight to follow that ). “Because— ugh, don’t repeat th-this, okay? What I want to do is spend time with...with you. That’s all. So don’t go...you don’t need to go out of your way trying to do s-s-something over the top. Stick to being normal.”
“Really? You’re sure?” Komaru sounds a little uncertain, but happy enough to pull her into a hug, despite her grumbled complaint. “Oh, but Syo has their own birthday, don’t they? So I should probably ask them what they want as well, right?”
“Don’t make me repeat m-myself. It’s embarrassing...” Touko huffs, but lets herself be held against her side, just for a moment. It’s nice, though she won’t admit it ( it is better than any real gift that she could receive ). Syo is kind enough to back off long enough to let her have this moment. “You can ask them later— focus on, on what you need to plan.”
By something short of a miracle, they are able to pull together a party that is not a complete disaster, even if Komaru probably has a point when she says the bar to clear is a pretty low standard for all parties involved. The closest she has to an actual concern is the very narrowly avoided fight that almost breaks out when Masaru and Kotoko fight over which one of them should give their present first— which is apparently the competitive aspect of the party? It’s probably meant to be heartwarming, if it were not such a foreign thing to Touko. Which Nagisa is quick to put an end to: because this is how they would treat Monaca, which is not inherently healthy, and she’s glad that at least one of them can recognize that fact now. Jataro spends the entirety of the fight trying to hide behind her long skirt and, relatable kid, and rubs the top of his head while Komaru tries to both scold them for fighting and appease them because they’re, well. Kids. Who still need to learn some things and have time to unlearn things.
So yeah, it’s a good party— for not being on her actual birthday, she’ll consider it one of the better memories Touko has associated with the day. The start of many, she’d like to hope.

Would you be willing to share how you might rewrite Yukizome, Sakakura, and Munakata to make them likable characters (if not ppl Bc there’s a big difference)???
ahhhhhhh this ask got me so stupidly excited that I was like wavin my hands around. I think about how to rewrite their characters OFTEN. very often. I’m gonna go with likeable character over likeable people because I think they work better where they’re actually not that likeable people.
The one I think about the MOST is Munakata. He was SUCH wasted potential and I partially blame the medium for that (a single season anime is too constrained for future, it needed more time and care to be a proper story). But Munakata is actually so close to being a compelling character but they made some MAJOR mistakes with him. This ended up getting really long and more like a 3 page ADHD ramble essay. SO IM VERY SORRY to anyone who cannot read this but TYTYTY if you did because these ideas make me very happy! Oh it’s only about Munakata btw because of how long it got
The thing about Munakata is that he is designed to be a foil to Naegi. In fact a majority of dr3 future FOCUSES on this foil dynamic. It is Naegi’s hope vs Munakata’s hope. The World’s hope vs The FF’s hope. And more importantly it is True Hope vs Corrupted Hope.
This is a fantastic concept...so why didn’t it work in canon? I think that the biggest most glaring issue with Munakata’s hope is his logic. Munakata is meant to be a logical man, although with corrupted morals that lead him astray. Yet in canon his logic is laughably infallible. For example as a major figure in the FF and someone who wants to spread hope....why would he tell Naegi to kill himself? More importantly why does he continue to try and slaughter Naegi? The issue here isn’t from the fact that he wants him dead but from the fact that he is under the IMPRESSION that this entire game is being broadcast to the world.
Think about this for a second. In Munakata’s eyes he is going to kill the Ultimate Hope, an international symbol of a better life, live on TV. He doesn’t just want to kill the Ultimate Hope..he wants to do it BRUTALLY as a MAJOR FIGURE OF THE FF. IMO this should have happened later on as the game furthers the emotional turmoil in Munakata’s head and he eventually snaps and gives in to the desire to kill Naegi despite the fact that this is live. And then there should be CONSEQUENCES for that. I wanted so badly a realization where Munakata realizes that he is hurting the Ultimate Hope in front of what he believes is the entire world.
Another issue with Munakata’s logic is saying things such as...implying that the HPA KG was...just a game. I mean...people DIED. it's not hard to see how wrong that logic is. you can't say “this is the real world now” when what Naegi experienced WAS the real world. I think that this could be fixed through a bit of world building. DR3 Future is rather isolated from its world. We don’t really know much about the world and its dynamics. I think it would make perfect sense if the general public viewed the HPA KG as a tv show, they got numb to the sight and even those untouched by despair had a hard time connecting that these are REAL people suffering. With this previously established Munakata expressing that the KG was not real would make a lot more sense and play into his corrupted idea of hope.
There is also Munakata’s connection to his other friends. Now I’ve talked about this before but the game was clearly designed to BREAK Munakata and Naegi. This way the FF would die, both the FF and World’s hope would be broken, and upon seeing this Mitarai would have no choice but to deploy his own forced hope. So it makes perfect sense that Yukizome’s death would break him (in fact if she hadn’t died in that way, her NG code was designed to be Munakata’s fault). But something about it felt...superficial. Again I think this is the mediums fault but it almost feels as though Munakata just forgets about Yukizome until later. I think they should spend more time establishing his pain and what he has lost and why this pushes him to kill. In his eyes if she can die then nothing else matters. It should be THE breaking point, not the first push. I do like the betrayal he feels towards realizing she had despair but it needed more time to fester.
And his relationship with Sakakura also felt weak. In all honesty it was hard for me to feel as though they were ever friends. Sakakura is written as though he just follows Munakata like a loyal dog and Munakata just orders him around. Establish their relationship more! Why are they such good friends? Why is Sakakura important to him? And more importantly why did Munakata decide to cruelly gut Sakakura knowing he was about to confess? This is because he believed that Sakaura was despair and that his confession was more manipulation, but they didn’t show this well at ALL. Munakata just comes across as a major a-sshole who does not care. I also personally found it distasteful that when changing his heart Munakata only seemed to cry for Yukizome. I understand that was his love interest but Yukizome at the end of the day killed herself. Sakakura however was an unnecessary betrayal he took into his own hands AS HE HIMSELF KILLED HIM. He should have more guilt over that! Not just in that moment where he runs to Sakakura, but ahead of time as well! Maybe even DURING his rampage they could have shown him having moments of guilt but he is so absorbed in the idea that all despairs have to die that he doesn’t even realize he has become despair in the name of hope.
A BIG weakness on Munakata’s part comes with interacting with other characters. He is a man who should know how to take charge, lead, and doesn't know what to do when things are getting too crazy even though he THINKS he does. Munakata is heavily flawed, OBVIOUSLY flawed, but many of the interactions with him are as tho his rampage isnt a big deal. There should be reasons for this! Why do people trust Munakatas guidance so much? I dont know! All ive seen from him is that hes insane! Maybe even pieces where around others hes a lot nicer so you can understand why they follow him, even though hes ready to gut Naegi alive with a flaming katana. His interactions with others feel like the writers just wanted to see the next big evil thing they could think of, but for Munakata’s character this doesn't make sense because he was appointed a high status in the foundation for a reason. Maybe even have people say they disagree with some of his methods but at the end of the day he gets the job done!
There is another major missed opportunity here and it's why Muanakata wants Naegi dead so badly in the first place. The remnants. Hiding terrorists in the apocalypse is a PERFECTLY valid reason to want someone dead and think they're a bad guy! But I think since Naegis initial arrest was already so hostile and violent we get the sense that the FF is simply just...crazy.
And let’s think about what Munakata WANTS from Naegi. He does not just want Naegi dead he wants something worse. He wants Naegi to suffer first. He thinks that Naegi doesnt understand his own personal pain. He thinks that because Naegi protected the remnants he must also not care about the suffering the remnants caused. He wants Naegi to feel despair and then die. This is important to his corrupted hope. He thinks the suffering must be shared in order to understand who must die, but he is creating a cycle of pain. Tie this back to the broadcasting issue. He wants Naegi to break for everyone to see. I think..and this is just a concept..I think it would have been a great idea for Munkata to force Naegi to watch the despair video so that he has no choice but to understand.
AND themes are majorly important to Danganronpa. And I don’t think its a stretch to say that there are parallels between Munakata and Naegi. In fact I would say that there are aspects of the og trio in this new trio. I think it would have been really cool if they showed how our favorite trio could have ended up if they had been corrupted as well. But the parrellels dont stick strongly. I think it would have been cool to show a past where Munakata’s idealism lies more strongly than Naegis. As the student council president there was a time where he himself had to use his words to solve problems. Perhaps he learned that sometimes his words made things worse. Munakata does not have Naegi’s talent of emotional intelligence. He is a man of action over words. So he interprets this as WORDS being the problem rather than understanding he does not have these skills. Especially when the apocalypse breaks out, it becomes all action over words. So he sees Naegi who is all talk as a genuine threat who will let everyone die through his “weak ineffective” idea of hope.
Another parallel could be drawn from the fact that they both have hope based careers. Their job is too keep things hopeful. Maybe Naegi stays safe doing public broadcasted speeches, while Munakata is on the field weeding out despairs. This would cause Munakata to feel as though Naegi is doing no real work yet getting all the credit for being a savior.
Munakata constantly complains that Naegi does not know true pain. But he and we as an audience have followed Naegi through his entire process of trauma. We know he is in the wrong. But what do we as an audience know about Munakata’s suffering? We are shown almost nothing! There are some implications, but for how intense he is implications are not enough. We need to see his suffering. We should see how he has witnessed death. Yukizomes death is not nearly enough for this because he talks as though he has suffered for years. How can we as an audience understand that when we have never seen it? How can we understand Munakata when he is outright denying Naegi’s trauma that we KNOW existed with no proper justification for his reasoning?
I also believe that Munakata should have died. It actually upsets me a bit that he was PLANNED to die but didn't. He should have died protecting Naegi after all that suffering and relentless brutality he offered him. Munakata again is a man of action over word, and protecting Naegi with his last breath is the perfect way to show how in the end he changed. Especially when all he wanted initially was for Naegi to die. I find that much more satisfying than just…...walking off to who knows where.
So lets recap some changes. Munakata needs a proper display of his past traumas and his relationship with Sakakura and Yukizome. Munakata needs a proper display of his work relationships and the respect he has earned. Munakata needs to fall into corruption at a better pace, and have geniune reasons for his illogical attacks on Naegi. Munakata needs to care more for his friends. Munakata needs to deal with the turmoil of wanting to hurt Naegi while he believes the world is watching. Munakata needs to die for Naegi
This has gotten long...and I still have things to say. There is so much to make Munakata a good character. Future had a lot of potential and is amazing for a rewrite concept. As for Sakakura and Yukizome since this has gotten long feel free to ask for another round of this individually when asks are open again! If you read all of this somehow….TYSM

YTTD 3B SPOILER + RANDOM THOUGHTS
NGL, if yttd gonna make canon ending is on reko/kanna route, Then I'll say this: ---------------------------------------
Its "Your Brother's Turn To Die" lol. Everytime they give us the choice to spare someone lives, it always between brother and sister. 2 times already. So if that route gives happy ending, then maybe its unfortunate for every brother here lol. Or also can be "Men's Turn to Die" Since there is like 12 characters that has been alive at the very start of the game, then i'll count those . The other chara that died early has been fated to be dead from the start and player dont really get to interact with them or get attached to them (including kugie). From those 12 ,there are 8 males & 4 females Excluding sacrifice/non candidate : 4 victims. All 4 of the dead one is male. Mishima, alice, sou and qtaro. Including non candidates: 7 victims. 6 males (+Joe, kai) & 1 female (nao) Based on the stats, its as if the male (especially adult) chara is kinda.. easy to kill?? (Ngl i've been reading many manga and many of them are really reluctant to kill fem chara compared to how many men (important chara too) are dead in their series.) Its too early to speculate that yttd will have "happy" endings, nankidai can turn things around, but the way kanna/reko route gives off, maybe they will escape? Either all of them alive or atleast there's one more death. And the one who didnt faced death (as a route) yet is only sara, keiji, and gin. So i think final part, they will be in danger. If they really gonna give happy endings with more survivors, i dont really think they will kill the mc, sara. Kanna and reko is already dead in the other route, so given that how positve that route is, i'm unsure if they really want to kill them again. So whats left is keiji or gin. (Male again, if thats it, maybe it can be a bit predictable on this part). Unless nankidai want to make it equal chance for every chara to be dead (not impossible since 3 dummies can be alive). Idk if keiji can be dead, but if keiji died, then all of the casts that left as the survivors, is kinda underwhelming. (Reko, kanna, sara, gin) Despite the least number of living participants is female, most of the survivor is also female at this point. The alternate route sou/alice left sara as the only female there lol. And this route is also where every sister die. (Oh well sou/reko is still the same tho) Looking at real sou behaves in the game, he panicked/frustrated when gin or keiji almost die. Yes, not only gin. When meister said he will execute keiji, this is his reaction: "No! he cant die like this!... I have to...."
He have something in mind that he can do to save him. Maybe with collar things. He also shows that he get really frustrated when reko/alice dies for a moment, too.
He should've been satisfied, or atleast dont show any behaviour that will interfere with their execution since it benefit him, but he did, while being panicked even though he consistently tried to show cold or indifferent treatment to everyone the whole time. I dont see any reason why he dont want them to die because he want to kill them by his own hand or he want to kill sara first before everyone else. There is not much to gain if he want to make sure if everyone else live before sara dies, his real personality is not like that.
He might actually have time to make the plans compared to when he got executed at chapter 2. His opinion on sara is unknown since he contradict himself on keiji (he said he will kill anyone who killed kanna), but maybe he still hates her or she is the one he least care about from all of them. If you play sou route, you'll get the feeling that the main antagonist is not him anymore, but more like sara. We dont know if she'll managed to get sane back again or not, so the obstacle is sara + less one survivor. I think if people gonna get killed anyway, maybe the one who will likely kill everyone, directly or indirectly, subsconciously or not, reluctant or not, is not sou anymore, but sara, unless she really snapped out of it. Or the less one survivor might affect what will happen.
And please dont confidently said this one will never have anything good, this is impossible, there is not even tiny bit of positive events in this route game etc. You are forcing your own mentality into this. The one who decide that is nankidai, if you can never anticipate the plot twists in the game, how can you be so confident in other things? But still, i dont really have much faith if this route will lead to happy ending either. There might be good things happening, but as a player i cannot see the lights whether its a good ending either. Both route has ups and downs. Unless they DR3 it. Either way, we dont know if this game even have a truly happy endings, given the theme itself.

ALRIGHT THE 3 MAKOTO AU'S I HAVE RIGHT NOW THAT IM CURRENTLY WORKING ON ignore that i said id reblog and explain i have like less than 10 followers whoops and im really excited about these aus okay and im on mobile RIP read more option
Fic one: it's an AU called New Neo World Program and what happens in it is that Makoto and his class and 77 and 79 and Komaru, Natsumi, Yuta, Ryota, and Yasuke are trapped within the digital world, and is forced into a killing game by AI Junko.
Outside of the NNWP, Jin Kirigiri is doing all he can to find the missing kids and keep the families and friends from finding out, as well as find who's responsible while having a constant live feed of the game hacked into his computer screen. The Warriors of Hope, the Student Council, and a few dr3 characters are involved in this side.
Extra tidbits of the AU: the NNWP is created by Chiaki and Chihiro, and they created Usami, Alter Ego, and Alter Chiaki to be in the world
The monokubs are involved
The protags of the games and Zero are main focus (while makoto is the main main focus because his role in this story is so big you cant take it out and have the same story trust me his fake out deaths here are legit freak out worthy)
Real Junko in this AU is Ryoko, so lore on AI Junko is simple and spoilers. Each character in this story is used and each have a good amount of screentime, and I am a huge multi shipper so even though I write ships in this au and also like, relationships in this au can totally be read into okay? There's a lot of that too lol
I'm afraid if I say more I'll spoil some real big reactionary moments so 👀 totally don't make me accidentally spill them 👀
Fic two: an AU that is currently called Makoto Harem Au because I have not thought of a good name for this yet. It's set in a non despair au at Hope's Peak and of course Makoto is the protag in this and the au's pov is solely his except when Plot Appears that he can't know about. Instead of it being a multi chapter story it's actually a collection of stories/oneshots that are self contained content even though they allude to each othet sometimes. This is a crack au with angst too whoops.
Extra tidbits: Since this AU is non despair, I had decided that Makoto can remember the canon timeline, has photographic memory, and suffers greatly for it
There are major differences in characters and their reactions to certain things due to this au being in a non despair world and this au is mainly crack, so despite the traumatic moments I may put in here it's meant to be something to laugh at too
There are relationships present but they're mainly background and it's a makoto harem they're not important though they are implied - not heavily, but enough to figure out if you think about it
Relationship dynamics everywhere with everyone
This AU is legitimately either crack or angst no inbetween
Fic three: An Au called Class Despairs where Junko despairs all three classes instead of just 77 and kills Chiaki, Makoto, and Shuichi to do it. Somehow, though, they survive yet they still find their friends despaired, so they are forced to do other things before they can try and save their classmates.
And what are those things, pray tell? Save the families and friends of the despairs (and their own too) before Junko makes them kill them, find a base of operations so when the world crumbles they have somewhere to hide out, and plan to survive in a practically apocalyptic world.
Extra tidbits: the au is actually called 3 Class Despairs vs 3 people of hope but Class Despairs sound better
The reason this au spawned is because my friend and I were like huh, in the other two classes, who would resemble Chiaki for them - and got Makoto and Shuichi respectively.
That au were also one shots where the three actually died and small bits of despairs living their life.
The group the 3 make is called Ultimate Hope not because they want to rival Ultimate Despair, but because they're a beacon for the people and the people started calling them that
None of the despairs know the 3 are alive, their location, or who's in UH respectively because of codenames and hidden faces
UH is allies with the Future Foundation, but since they have clashing ideologies, it's a thin line and the FF has publically labeled them enemies so what can they do oops.
Yes Towa City does play a part
The killing game that gets broadcasted in place of class 78 is the student council.
Makoto is leader leader of the group, as he is the most outspoken and the one the people and others recognize the most.
This fic is set into arcs, so it's... a really, really long story...
And uh, that's about it I suppose! I do hope you all liked reading this as I tried to keep the most important parts in while leaving the big big spoilers out among other things. Though if you do decide to risk me spoiling I will gladly and impulsively give out details whoops ahah...
Anyways, sorry to those having to scroll all of this, I really did try to keep it short!!

It’s so close to Valentine’s Day! And with my V-day asks and submits finished, I wanted to share a little more of a romantic headcanon for Sonia (maybe?).
This post is all about dancing.
In short, it really seemed logical to have Sonia be a great proficient when it comes to dancing, particularly ballroom dancing. While my version of her does subvert some traditional princess interests and values (her canon already starts with this, considering both her interests in the occult and freemasonry, and her opinions regarding to wealth hoarded by the few), dancing was one of the ‘royal standards’ I really wanted to keep for her.
Aspects of her character as well as promotional art (especially around the Danganronpa 3 anime) show that Sonia herself is pretty active and fit. While some of it is likely due to simply maintaining her health, she has to be in pretty good shape to be able to complete things like mandatory military training and strategy (and handling that rocket launcher, even if it’s in the OVA and therefore a departure from canon events entirely). But there’s also the various art used in the DR3: Despair endings featuring her in relay races, or skiing, or simply playing on the beach. I never saw her as someone physically weak or delicate from all of this. And while I’ve got headcanons for her to be skilled in things like horseback riding and shooting, sports often populated by those of higher socio-economic classes, dancing holds a very special place in Sonia’s heart.
For one, it’s one of the few ‘traditional princess interests’ that she’s actually good at and enjoys. She’s polite, caring, kind, and a stickler for good etiquette most of the time, but she’s not particularly good at things like music and art. Sonia can play a little piano (but nothing complex), but her drawing, painting, sewing/needlework, and singing skills are awful (and uh, let’s not bring up her cooking and cleaning skills either). What she lacks in artistic/culinary/cleaning skills she makes up for with languages, books, a sense of adventure and exploration, and a lot of physical activities.
Thus, especially in historical verses, her family’s main method of making Sonia appeal to the nobility and regular people alike is her ability to dance. She’s graceful and can commit steps to memory well, but mostly why Sonia enjoys it is the ability to socialize with and get to know others.
In pretty much all of her verses, Sonia spent most of her childhood growing up alone with only her family, the Castle staff, tutors and teachers, and a few friends her parents deemed ‘acceptable’ to interact with the princess. So most of her hobbies are things she enjoys and can do in the company of others (reading aside. Truthfully, reading is pretty much her only solitary hobby. Though she’d rather not mention much about her romance video games unless she’s around someone she trusts). Physical activities, watching films and TV shows, they’re all things she prefers to experience with other people and in turn, she feels less lonely. Dancing is one of the few interests that overlap both with what Sonia gravitates to and what her family approves of, so plenty of time and effort is devoted to teaching the Princess of Novoselic appropriate dances, both for formal occasions and to keep her in shape and happy.
What counts as appropriate? In modern verses and verses that fall in the DR canon, that’s pretty much the ballroom standard: Waltz (or slow waltz), Viennese Waltz (though Sonia would refer to it as just the Waltz, considering she’s from continental Europe), Foxtrot, Quickstep, and Ballroom Tango. She’s better at some than others (mostly due to more frequent usage), particularly both waltzes and the foxtrot. Most of her peers would likely only know the slow waltz and one other, if they felt particularly inclined (or their families did). But Sonia and her family see dancing as another form of language, to communicate and understand other cultures when, on occasion, words aren’t enough. That ballroom tango has come into use especially on official visits out of the country.
In Historical AUs, particularly ones that take place before the 1920s or so, Sonia would definitely know the waltz and slow waltz, and probably more traditional dances before standard ballroom dances were decided upon. That said, she’s probably attending more formal events that require dancing in those verses to begin with.
And while in a modern verse she doesn’t need to be ‘presented into society,’ her eighteenth birthday often acts as an informal version of that very thing. Her birthday often coincides with Novoselic’s masquerade ball (a glamorous take on their traditional harvest festivals and celebrations in October), so that particular birthday tends to be a big deal for her and her family and requires Sonia to perform an exhibition dance of sorts for the guests to signify her entrance into adulthood. Likewise, she’d also be invited to be part of le Bal des Debutantes during the appropriate age range to participate, which has its own headaches (a lot of planning, a lot of press, a lot of figuring out who the heck will escort her, etc. It’s mostly an event for charity but it’s a high society event for charity that attracts the wealthy and possibly titled around the world. It’s an invitation-only event and the opportunity to wear unparalleled couture and jewels, and be positioned as a young philanthropist and important on the social scene. Basically: Sonia’s family would badger her until she accepted the invitation).
Finally, there would be a concentrated effort to keep Sonia away from the Latin dances. They don’t usually apply to the sorts of social events Sonia’s meant to engage in, and her family doesn’t approve of, ahem, how sexy they’d make the Princess of Novoselic look in the eyes of others. Dances that appear to be too sensual, bordering looking like having sex on the dance floor? Definitely a no-no for Sonia (which means there’s room to teach her such things, if your muse is so inclined).
With all that in mind: Ball thread, anyone?

Because I Finished Binging Persona 4 Golden About A Month Ago And I’m Still Not Over It:
Tumblr media
So hi everyone. Yes, I still exist. No, I’ve not become Cryptid 2.0 just yet. (If we’re being perfectly honest I probably should have put that on the last Mod answer I did. Oh well.)
Anyway, this year has been... well you all know. However, there was at least one golden ray of hope amidst the sea of despair.
As the title suggest, I’m of course referring to Persona 4 Golden’s port to Steam.
Tumblr media
I LOVED this game. Absolutely adored it. And it clearly wasn’t just me; the response this port got has seemed to catch Sega’s attention. We can only hope, but I think this may mean more ports in the future. About time.
Now, obviously after playing this game I got to thinking a bit. Specifically, what if the Persona users ended up in Hope’s Peak? What would their ultimate titles be? How would they interact with other members of the DR cast (not including DRV3. Still haven’t played it, know all about the plot but not enough about the characters to figure out interactions here)? So, I’m going to go over that right here, in the first of a... okay a many many part post.
Yeah, I know, kinda a let down that I can’t have it all at once but as I was writing it up I realized that this was going to end up being huge. I couldn’t do it all in one post. I thought that maybe I could then divide it by game and have three posts, but as I finished doing just two members of SEES I realized that wouldn’t work either. There’s just too much to write about. So, due to this, I’ll be doing a single post per character and when it comes to relationships with canon characetrs I’m going to try and limit the amounts of characters to just 3 to 5, depending on how much there is to say.
Anyway, without further ado,
Presenting: SEES, the Investigation Team and the Phantom Thieves as SHSLs/Ultimates!
(The title isn’t exactly amazing I know.)
Group 1: SEES
Part 1: The Protagonist(s)
Makoto Yuki/Minato Arisato/Hamuko Yuki/Minako Arisato:
SHSL Luck/Ultimate Lucky Student: I figure this makes sense for all the Wildcards. In Makoto’s/Hamuko’s case specifically, we got the fact that they survived the car crash that killed their parents, we got the fact that they were ‘lucky’ enough to end up in the Velvet Room and be a Wildcard and ‘lucky’ enough (or unlucky) to be caught up in the Dark Hour insanity. Plus the ‘luck’ of being able to find meaning to life again with SEES.
Alternative SHSL/Ultimate: -While I was hoping to do this for all the Wildcards, we happen to run into a major issue from the start. Simply put, it is VERY difficult to think up an alternative talent for these two due to how their Social Links and personality choices are. None of the clubs they join can really be argued is ‘their’ amazing talent and unlike Yu they aren’t exactly the most... sociable/friendly of the Wildcards. At least Makoto isn’t given his portrayal in spin-offs and other media that give him his own voice and just general dialogue options (I’m pretty sure there are more harsh ones for him than there are for Yu). I can only assume similar for Hamuko. And as much as I kinda want to, SHSL/Ultimate Savior only works if they aren’t actually around and are busy being a door. Plus the people who decide on that wouldn’t know that they’re busy being a door. So yeah, gonna have to leave this one empty sadly.
Unlike Makoto’s hilarious stream of Lucky/Unlucky incidents and Nagito’s own INSANE cases, Makoto and Hamuko are rather... ‘normal’ for Lucky Students. In fact, one would think they’d be reserve course students. The truth is very few people besides themselves even realize the full ‘depth’  to their luckiness. If anyone else even. I have no doubt the Steering Committee is quite annoyed about this and questions if the raffle messed up somehow this year. In addition, this means that there is a LOT of enmity from all sides towards these two. The Reserve Course despises them because these two are basically just them just having been lucky enough to win the raffle AND NOTHING ELSE. On the other side, there are plenty in the Talent Course who look down on them even more than a typical lucky student. And it doesn’t help that at least in Makoto’s case he would likely not bother going to far out of his way to try and bridge any gaps with these people.
Major relationships within the DR cast: From the get-go we know that as Wildcards these two are potentially limitless in ideas for interaction with characters and forming relationships. Bearing that in mind, I think there are a few very specific characters they’d have some connection to: -Hajime Hinata: As stated above, the ‘luck’ that Makoto and Hamuko have is very different from the typical lucky student’s and they don’t even seem to fit the ‘ultimate’ moniker. As such, I could seem them gravitating towards Hajime due to simply feeling like they really don’t belong here, even more than Makoto (Naegi) and unlike a lot of the reserve course, Hajime just doesn’t seem like the type of guy to really fault them for winning the raffle. Bonus in Makoto’s (Yuki) case as he just drips sarcasm and bit of apathy and I imagine he’d get along well with Hajime’s own personality.  -Sonia Nevermind and Gundham Tanaka: Assuming a full crossover with personas, the full collective unconscious and such, both Sonia and Gundham would have a very similar fascination with these two. Sonia’s interest in the occult would make her very interested in any Wildcard and the tarots that they inevitably would have her draw if she tried (like Igor). While that may be slightly interesting to Gundham though there is a far more pressing matter for him. Because if he does have some supernatural connection there is no doubt in my mind he’d somehow catch on to these two harboring death and be very interested in it. -Junko Enoshima: Junko is... difficult to figure out here. On the plain surface (or in a crossover without the supernatural bits of Persona) there’s no reason Junko should have any special interest in these two over anyone else without having very special knowledge that not even freaking Itkutski seemed to have. On the other hand, should Junko find out about their wildcard and how it works she would be keeping a VERY close eye on them, realizing that she cannot leave them be since their S.Links would be far too dangerous against despair. And then there’s the giant elephant in the room. Should Junko discover that the two are harboring the literal manifestation of humanity’s desire for death there is no way in hell Junko would ever ignore that. And considering the BS Junko is able to pull, I could conceive it possible that she would somehow find out. As such, I would put it like this. If Junko never finds out about their ‘gifts’ she wouldn’t care. If she found out about the Wildcard somehow and what it meant (I don’t know, Nyarlothep decides to be a bit more involved in his bet with Philemon and pushes Junko in the right direction) she’d be very on top of them, perhaps even actively sabotaging their abilities to form S.Link or trying to break them, thereby inflicting a decent bit of psychological damage to them and thinking that could drive them to despair (which I don’t think it could since Makoto at least would be far too apathetic to really be in despair but that’s a bit up to interpretation how such things would affect a wildcard). Should she find out about Death, then all hell breaks loose as she would try and probably team up with someone like Ikutski to make The Fall occur for the ultimate final despair. Because not even the Tragedy was the absolute end of the world. The Fall though? That’s game over. -Nagito Komaeda: Nagito is yet another difficult option. If he knew what was really going on with them he would probably worship the ground the step on, even moreso than most ‘Ultimates’. However, he doesn’t have a reason to (though with his BS luck who knows, he may accidentally stumble onto all the secrets). Without knowing, we get into a problem. Nagito already looks down on himself as not being a ‘real’ ultimate. So, how does he look at other lucky students? I need to sit down and watch DR3 and see if there are any major interactions between him and Makoto before Makoto becomes the Ultimate Hope and see how he treats him. Even if he does treat him well though, Makoto at least has very obvious cases of good/bad luck even if it isn’t on the level of Nagito’s. These two though? It would be near non-existent. And that maybe enough to cause Nagito to despise them, perhaps even more than his disgust towards the Reserve Course. These two won the raffle and yet show as much ‘talent’ as a reserve course student? I could see him looking at it as a bigger mockery than the reserve course itself. As such, there would for sure be something there with Nagito but I can’t be certain if it would be a decent relationship with another lucky student or an animosity that’s the worst we’d ever seen from him.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc: What’s their Classpects?
Hello welcome back to “What’s their Claspects” where i (Rage/formally Time) look at pieces of fiction and try to find out the Classpects of the Characters.
Today we’re looking at Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc to find the Classpects of the cast, we’ll skip over backstory only characters & monokuma (Monokuma would likely be a first guardian in homestuck anyway) (Also this gonna be very long)
Makoto Naegi: Muse Of Hope
Alright so i think this one is very clear to see why I’d think this, Makoto isn’t one to act & instead is one to cause others to act for him. Him almost dying near the end of the game is what brings the group together to stop Junko & all Makoto had to do to cause that was trust in Kirigiri. As whole Makoto tends to lead others to hope but doesn’t force it, there’s only one time he leaned into an active role which was in SDR2 which we all know how that almost turned out for him, His plans & ideas work best when he’s not being active & instead helps others. Makoto is a very good example of a good Muse Of Hope. (Though you could make a case for him being a Light player)
Junko Enoshima: Lord Of Rage
Ah yes the queen of despair, of course she is the opposite Classpect to Makoto, though had Makoto fit something like Witch of Hope better I’d still give Junko Lord Of Rage, she is by far one of the most active people in Danganronpa, often making people serve her so she spread her despair farther than she’d be able to on her on. I’d very much say the people who serve Her remind me of Lord English’s followers by making it harder to deal with the Lord and by bringing more people into the fold. Junko mainly fits the parts of Rage to do with negative emotions also She could also fit Mage/Seer of Rage due to her analytical prowess.
Kyoko Kirigiri: Knight Of Heart
Kyoko’s childhood caused her to hide away her heart & feelings making her the cold but thoughtful young women we meet in the first game. She like other Knights hides the part of herself tied with her Aspect, she acts like the things around her don’t brother her & acts stone cold but behind that she’s a very emotional person who sometimes boils over & shows how she’s feeling. (Like when Alter Ego thought the headmaster could be the mastermind) Kyoko also mainly acts to serve others, working to keep everyone alive without caring how that could hurt her, (like making her seem shady to the others) she acts for other’s wellbeings way more often then for her own gain, even when letting Makoto take the fall was for the greater good of the group instead of her own good.
Byakuya Togami: Page Of Light
Byakuya was probably the hardest in this set to figure out but here it goes. Byakuya tends to avoid being the acting when he can help it, he tends to try to have others to serve him be a butler to serve him or the others knowing about Jack to make sure she doesn’t do anything to him. Byakuya tends towards the part of the Light Aspect about knowledge & fortune not so much on the luck part, the knowledge Byakuya has tends to be used by him for mainly his own gain though he is willing to work towards greater goods as long as he cares about it.
Toko Fukawa: Rogue of Doom
Alright so this one is more about DRAE:UDG as in the first game Toko was kinda role playing as a Knight due to trying to serve Byakuya but within Another Episode we get to see Toko act without Byakuya around. She tends to act for others instead of herself & often the way she helps hurts others, like with always around Byakuya it did keep him safe in the killing game but it kept him in a role where his bad side would show more along with making it harder for the others to deal with Jack. Within Another Episode Toko in a way steals Komaru‘s fate to become another Junko and gives that fate to Monaca to help Komaru along with the city & Byakuya. now Toko fits to doom to a t when it comes to personality being a very gloomy person.
Jack: Thief of Life
Unlike Toko Jack is very upbeat even though she’s one of the darker characters in Danganronpa. She tends to kill for her own gain (trills & the like) without caring what that will do to others (like Toko having to deal with the guilt) as a Jack tends to take what she wants without caring for others. Though once she starts showing a better side to herself that can be caring & protective of people other then Byakuya. Like Meenah (who shares a classpect) Jack can be very rude & uncaring at times but also can be loyal and protective.
Aoi Asahina: Sylph Of Blood
Hina is besides Makoto is the friendliest of the students, often trying to include people are were shy (like Toko & Chihiro) in group activates, which definitely falls in well with how often Sylphs act like they know best when it comes to their aspect. Like other Sylphs Hina takes a active role in protecting her Aspect/with her Aspect, when she thinks the group has caused the death of her best friend she jumps to act to kill the group.
Yasuhiro Hagakure: Seer Of Breath
Yeah Hiro’s a Seer, it just makes too much sense with who he is, he’s someone who already has seer powers so really all i needed to do was find his Aspect. Hiro was probably one of the more selfish students in the game, trying to trick people to try to get out of debt & being a bit of a coward. He also was very laid-back & didn’t get too overly close with anyone, not to say he didn’t make friends but unlike the others he didn’t seem as close with everyone.
Sayaka Maizono: Bard Of Heart
Sayaka did a lot to be an Idol including things that don’t really match up with the her we know in-game (like that modeling we see in dr3), Sayaka also used feelings in her murder plan, had it worked out Leon & Makoto (Plus everyone else) would’ve been screwed due to Leon being into Sayaka & Makoto caring & trusting her. Now why Bard instead of Prince is meanly Sayaka’s goal wasn’t really to destroy nor did she act well actively instead her plan relied on others to act/destroy instead of herself.
Mukuro Ikusaba: Prince Of Time
Mukuro’s life made sure she would be a killing machine. Since she was a kid the road she’d walk would lead to killing. Like other Time players she is very determined and is willing to do what it takes to get her goals done, & like other Princes tended to be the loner on her path though still very loyal to those they stayed close with. A in-canon case of her fitting this role would be all of IF (I’d say Mukuro was also kinda role-playing as a Knight) (Also you could make a good case for other classpects like a Muse of some kind)
Leon Kuwata: Maid Of Mind
Alright so think less the logic part and lean more into the choices. Leon at the start of the Game (along at the start of him going to Hope’s Peck) Leon wanted to change his talent just for a girl he didn’t even seem to very close with, like other Maids he started out relying on others for his Aspect and in the game he doesn’t get past this point, i think had he had the time he likely broke of the idea of having others decide what he’d be, hell tbh he seems like he’d try to just not be an Ultimate anymore so he’d be able to enjoy whatever he’d pick to do with himself instead of being told he has to do it.
Chihiro Fujisaki: Knight Of Void
Chihiro acted for other’s well-beings above their own, being the one to make Alter Ego who helped save the students. Like other Knights Chihiro hid a part of themself, though unlike other Knights no one have guessed Chihiro was hiding anything, in a way hiding in plain sight. Chihiro served the group using the secret of Alter Ego to do it.
Mondo Owada: Witch Of Rage
Mondo tends to be a victim of his own anger problems more then anyone else, (like other Witches who tend to suffer at least a bit from their Aspect) said problems harder to deal with then they already were. Like other Witches Mondo isn’t happy in the role he plays but keeps playing it.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru: Sylph Of Mind
Like cannon Sylphs Taka is very pushy about his Aspect, mainly he knows best when it comes to justice, (which likely at least a bit tied to Mind) He tends to try to act as a leader to others even though there are people who’d likely be better leaders. Like other Mind players Taka seems to have a hard time having healthy relationships with people even though he wants to.
Hifumi Yamada: Heir Of Space
Tbh wasn’t fully sure what to give Hifumi mainly cause Danganronpa tends to turn fat characters into jokes but anyway here’s my best shot. Hifumi is for sure a passive player i mean the guy only does things when he’s told too, so the guy ain’t an active player, now as a guy who didn’t have any friends and dealt with that by making things that screams Space player like a lot. Hifumi was always away from people & didn’t have people to be close with, he was surrounded by Space all the time which did help him live for quite awhile, had he not close with anyone he would’ve been safe
Celestia Ludenberg/Taeko Yasuhiro: Mage Of Void
Celeste is the queen of lies so of course she’s a void player all i needed to do was find the fitting Class. Celeste like other Mage’s caused a lot of other people to get caught up with her aspect, her lies over took all of the 3rd Class Trial & with said lies she was able to make Hifumi do things he otherwise wouldn’t do. Also like other Mages her own Aspect hurt her a lot, her lies only made her feelings about her true self worse.
Sakura Ogami: Muse Of Blood
I’ll keep this one short. With her sacrifice the rest of her classmates came together which was something that without her wouldn’t have happened, she was someone who was protective & strong but the she used her Aspect fits best with a Muse.

if ur ships in danganronpa could translate into quadrants from homestuck, what would they be? for example, naegiri be moirails, sakura and aoi fluctuate between pale and red, etc. doesn't have to be clear cut, cuz quadrants get messy lol. mostly curious about what ishimondo would be like, i'd imagine there'd be a lot of switching quadrants between them lmao.
ANON UR SPEAKIN MY LANGUAGE
in fact i had to put this under a cut bc it got SUPER long sdfsd
I think Makoto would be like Kanaya. He’s The Auspistice(TM), whether he wants to be or not. Everyone just assigns him to being in the middle of everything. Eventually he’s able to convince Mondo and Taka to find someone else to ♣️ their relationship, so that winds up falling on Chihiro.
For the record, hard agree on Makoto ♦️ Kyouko. I do ship them romantically, but my hc for Kyouko is that she’s aro. I think Bykauya would be kinda Eridan in that trying-really-hard-to-be-someone’s-kismesis front. Like he’d try to be Kyouko’s even though she tries to indicate she’s not interested, then he’d be really spades for Makoto after awhile - although I don’t think that Makoto would really feel that way back. If I were going to go so far as to complete a Homestuck AU, I’d think he’d be one of the human kids, actually. So he’d be extra weirded out by the trolls dragging him into their romance stuff. I think Byakuya would also try and make himself have black feelings for Junko and failing that just try antagonizing everyone else in the class to find something that sticks.
(I really like the idea of him trying to do that to Mondo and Mondo being weirdly offended bc he’s already dedicated himself to a kismesis.)
Kind of obviously, Toko would have an unrequited Flushed Crush on Byakuya (but since I don’t really ship that I wouldn’t keep that a thing, I’d probably have Toko move onto Makoto’s sister but I haven’t played UDG yet so I’m not sure where I’d go with that?) and Mukuro would have one on Makoto. The latter would feel forced into being her sister’s Moirail...I like Mukuro more than to ever write her staying like that, lol. I kind of like Makoto/Mukuro/Kyouko as a ship, so maybe Mukuro and Kyouko being pale or red? I’d probably have Kyouko’s actual kismesis be Celes. And I don’t think there’s anyone in in the class I could see Celes having as a matesprit, although she’d probably string along Hifumi so she can use him. She’d probably decide Makoto is her moirail because I could just see Makoto being everyone’s fill-in option for whatever quadrant they have missing.
Sakura and Hina would absolutely fluctuate between pale and flushed, and people probably would think it’s weird that they don’t look to fill either quadrant elsewhere. I think they’d be like the Rose/Kanaya of the group.
Soooooo I think Chihiro would be Mondo’s moirail, their friendship does kinda have a Nepeta ♦️ Equius feel to it (and I do ship Chihiro ♥️ Makoto so that works out too). I also kind of ship Taka and Makoto, so I’d probably have it be like, Taka is like the second closest Makoto would have to a moirail after Kyouko and he doesn’t mind that Taka has the pale feelings for him because he doesn’t really force it on Makoto.
I don’t have any Homestuck reactions saved anymore so I can’t remember who had this reaction? My gut instinct says Karkat, BUT I seem to remember someone having a reaction image where they just had the quadrants symbols were just rapidly looping because they couldn’t figure out what they were feeling and I think THAT is Taka & Mondo’s relationship.
I actually think it’s kind of funnier if it starts out with them like insisting that they don’t even have caliginous feelings for each other, they just flat hate each other, and everyone is just like “.......okay,” about it. But like once they admit that’s an actual relationship they have they don’t really act like that’s the quadrant their relationship is in because Taka’s weirdly happy about it. They actually schedule time to antagonize each other and whenever someone points out that’s kind of counter-intuitive, Mondo should just go bother him NOW, that’s what’s most inconvenient, he’s always like “what the fuck no? that would be rude. i’m not gonna do that we have a relationship here.” So everyone even in the vicinity of this bullfuckery is confused.
Eventually they wind up having a heart-to-heart because Taka’s clearly not feeling being annoyed/being annoying and that bothers Mondo and he’s not sure whether that’s something he can/should bring up or not, and when they actually talk it out Mondo’s like “oh SHIT what quadrant is this” and has to like. Break moirails w Chihiro for a bit because he doesn’t think he’s supposed to have two and he isn’t sure what quadrant this qualifies as and he’s sitting there with the rapidly vascillating quadrants in his head all day every day.
I think Mondo’s like Karkat in a way (ig in part bc i hc him as a Blood player) so i think he’d have that whole “you want her in every quadrant like a desperate fool” conversation with himself that Karkat has w/himself about Terezi, probably right around the time Taka realizes that he doesn’t find Mondo as irritating as he used to and he’s probably looking at one of the lighter quadrants, if not both of them. So Chihiro has to auspistice or something like it again, not because they run the risk of killing each other but because they are both just so very stupid with emotions that they can’t really have a proper conversation about what’s going on.
I think after that though they’d probably have a relatively stable grasp on their relationship being flushed and drifting into more pink or black areas occasionally.
SORRY that got long! Also I don’t have a ton of ships for sdr2, but I’m kinda thinking  Sonia Gundham Akane, Gundham Fuyuhiko Imposter, and my default for Hiyoko is /
Also that kinda makes me wonder how Mechamaru would work out, you know, since there is a canon mech version of a character in Homestuck. Would that mean Souda programs Mechamaru to be ♥️ for him?
The only other real opinion I have is Juzo

After The Starship Hope is complete, I recommend going for it! This anon initially read the idea with hesitance because Nagito fans can get kind of, well, let's just say "intense" about Hajime/Chiaki pairings. But you already had Hajime and Chiaki get married and have Kaede as a grandchild in the backstory of Starship Hope, and you didn't get hate mail from Nagito fans. So if anyone can pull off the idea you're proposing, you would be the awesome and popular writer to do it.
//Y’all are too gracious with your compliments. I always see issues and complications with my writing that I wanna go back and fix ^^; But it does seem like I’m doing something right if over 400 people have decided to follow me. All of your support really means a lot to me ^^
//Speaking of which, I already have a lot of ideas for both Hajime and Chiaki, who will of course be our protagonists. One of the biggest criticisms I’ve seen against DR3 (that I personally disagree with but still) is Chiaki being a precious cinnamon roll who did absolutely nothing wrong. I want the chance to expand on everything and give her more depth.
//Like, there’s so much about Human!Chiaki that I feel hasn’t really been explored much: her background, her family, how came to be so invested in gaming, why she was so averse to making friends at first, etc. I see it all as an opportunity.
//Contrast her with post-canon!Hajime, who still bears the mental and emotional scars of the previous timeline, but still sticks to the words both she, her AI counterpart, and their other friends told him. Wrestling with the guilt for everything that he feels responsible for, the desire to try changing the timeline for the better, and even his want to slow down and enjoy the past world he can finally be part of again.
//And that’s all just some ideas I have for improving what DR3 gave us.
