i’ve seen a few gamingmas wishlists and, as i’ll probably wake up around when the first video goes up, i thought it’d be fun to share a few of my wishes and expectations and have them blown out of the water immediately lol
what we know
-we already know that charlie mcconnell is playing lethal company with dan and phil. lethal company’s a popular indie horror game in early access right now: the description on steam says “A co-op horror about scavenging at abandoned moons to sell scrap to the Company.” and i think pj is also jumping in on this one?
-i’m so confident about the sims being included here that i’m putting it in “know” instead of “guess”. it’s ongoing, the new house is built, dil and dalien were prominent on the promo poster…it's not a big swing. holiday devan wedding???
what we can guess
-since we had halloween baking for spooky week, christmas baking for christmas eve seems likely? i would say the day could be variable, but if baking happens, i’d put good money on it being the last video.
-i’m not convinced that the promo poster is accurate as to what will happen, but dan and phil did specifically request the details included. so here’s what i see:
tetrimos, so maybe tetris? i would enjoy tetris 99 or something
the golf hats, a bag of golf clubs, maybe floating golf balls? probably golf with friends, as anyone could guess
ddr pad??? ddr seems hard to bring back, but i discount nothing and i would love it. (including it is big nostalgia bait either way. they're so sentimental!!!)
we covered dil and dalien/the sims already, but i would feel weird not writing them down lol
the switch, which could have a lot of interesting console-exclusive possibilities: zelda, mario, animal crossing? ring fit adventure would be hilarious and a good dan vs. phil
huggy wuggy, so maybe more poppy playtime. i wouldn’t have thought that likely since we’re done with spooky week, but we have confirmation on another horror game, so why not? i know what the next chapter looks like and the puzzles could be fun. maybe dan would finally exit his chair from jumpscare
this isn’t expectations or guesses or anything, but shout out also to phil’s plushie and the announcement moose
-i feel like they have a mini roblox series now, so maybe something on there? my main pick would be bee swarm simulator; they usually have a holiday event, and it’s a really solid game
what i want
-all my favorite games, which would include: co-op stardew valley (which would be another good switch option), hades, unpacking. maybe unpacking most because they could do the whole thing this month pretty easily.
-skimming my steam to see some other games that i think would be interesting: disco elysium (probably not youtube friendly, but i can dream), another crack at dream daddy, alan wake 1/2 or control, phasmophobia, wobbledogs, oxenfree 1/2, gone home, arcade paradise, inscryption, the hitman series, iron lung, death stranding. out of these, i want wobbledogs (deeply silly) and gone home (gay) the most.
-i really want fan mario kart tournaments brought back. i suspect it won’t happen this month because they’ve got a lot on their plate, but i played them the last couple times they did them, and i would love to make it into their round just once. but even if i wouldn’t (as is likely), it would just be nice to play with fans again!
-i hope there’s a couple other random collabs and indie games i don’t know/haven’t thought of. i liked the surprises during spooky week!
-i’m gonna share some of my thoughts on this bingo card because it covers a lot of my wishes, too:
golf with friends (likely, as i said)
mario kart booster courses: with the booster levels, they could do an entire rainbow road dan vs. phil. tell me that doesn’t sound good
stardew valley (really want, as i said)
sims 4 (pretty much guaranteed)
deltarune: the unfinished sequel(ish?) to undertale. as someone who was a huge fan of their original undertale let’s play, YES PLEASE
baldur’s gate 3: majorly popular dnd franchise video game. i started playing it this week, and it's delightful, but it's a lot of game. it would be a great collab, though!
stray: cat game!!! i own this and i got stuck on a part before i could finish. if they played, that would give me the kick i need to get back into it.
cult of the lamb: popular indie game with the streaming set because it has great twitch integration. i would enjoy watching them play, but i would enjoy it more if they did twitch streams later and played it there
it takes two: popular two-player indie game where you play as a married couple, i believe? i would enjoy watching this, but i admit, some of what i’ve heard about the game doesn’t leave me too interested in watching it specifically
untitled goose game: CLASSIC. oh man. chaos puzzles as a goose in a small english village? you can do this one two-player, too. and it’s good on switch.
spider-man: interesting inclusion! i’ve heard the game is good, but if it’s a new-to-me let’s play, i prefer indie games.
a board game: i wouldn’t be surprised if heartthrob with celebrities or whatever shows up lol. but this would be another good collab opportunity
among us: yes yes yes. mostly because i could watch it with my nibling lol. definitely a collab game; i wonder what size of party they could put together
minecraft (redo): could be interesting! i find minecraft so boring, but it would definitely get them views, and they always make things good
festive baking (likely, as i said)
-here’s my biggest wish: another festive day in the life. i don’t think i need to elaborate on that.

I love t swift and I love byler
What Taylor songs do u think represent byler?
did you read my mind i was just about to make a post talking about this thank you for giving me an excuse to do it.
DOROTHEA!!!!!!!! NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THIS ONE WHEN THEY BRING UP TAYLOR BYLER SONGS BUT ITS THE PERFECT ONE!!!!! its literally about losing touch with a childhood best friend after they move like come ON!! its the epitome of best friends to lovers. it sounds like its to will from mikes perspective.
the song opens with, “hey dorothea do you ever stop and think about me? when we were younger down in the park honey making a lark of the misery”
“making a lark of the misery”: shes talking about making light of the trauma they endured in order to cope. this could be applied to them continuing to play dnd even after facing the monsters in real life.
“you got shiny friends since you left town, a tiny screen’s the only place i see you now and i got nothing but well wishes for ya”
el’s lies in her letters probably made him think that will also made a bunch of new friends. “a tiny screen’s the only place i see you now”. shes referring to social media posts on phones in this line but since its the 80s this could be applied to mike looking at old photos of them or maybe even will’s old drawings that he still has up in his basement.
“this place is the same as it ever was but you wont like it that way”
i think this line is saying that objectively their town is the same and has the same people but it just doesnt feel the same since she left. this sounds like what mike said to will. “max, lucas and dustin, theyre great. its just hawkins, its not the same without you”.
“its never too late to come back to my side, the stars in your eyes shined brighter in tupelo”
this lyric can be applied to how will isnt as happy in california as he was in hawkins with mike and mike is telling him that he missed him too.
“hey dororthea do you ever stop and think about me when it was calmer”
“when it was calmer” could apply to them missing times in their childhood before will went missing and before they knew anything about the upside down.
“are you still the same soul i met under the bleachers well i guess i’ll never know”
this lyric is about losing touch with each other and not knowing if they’ll be the same after. “i feel like i lost you… but i think it’ll be easier if we’re a team”.
this song is wlw and makes present day references but other than that its WEIRDLY accurate to s4 byler. i bet there will be even more to connect it to after volume 2. i love this song so much.

Pride Question Day 10: Write a letter to your younger self.
Hey, buddy. I don’t know how to accurately tell you this, but the signs were there. Whether it was when you lip synced to Britney Spears and Macy Gray at six years old, or started practicing flute in 3rd grade when most boys your age were taking sports (intramural soccer league was still fun, though).
When you were diagnosed with depression in sixth grade, it hurt. My goodness, it hurt. You remember distinctly it was when you couldn’t laugh at Cartoon Network anymore. It hurt to see humor but feel nothing. And yes, this was caused by the fact that sixth grade is designed to make or break people, and if any amount of mental instability is present, you are cast to the winds, forever that weird kid. By the way, challenge classes are for the most part a scam. If you want to challenge kids, have them learn about pertinent American history or financial stability.
You also learned that sixth grade is when the terrors come loose. Some of the absolute worst of human nature can be condensed into one calendar year of education. That’s when kids learn from their parents the most, and that means homophobia. You’re got called gay and kids played playground games with names that upset you. It should upset you. You’re weren’t “sensitive”, and you’re weren’t a “crybaby”; you knew this is wrong.
All the while, you got fed a steady diet of “let’s not talk about the gays” from your parents. You had two uncles who just wanted to show the world what they meant for each other who will eventually get married. You weren’t stupid, and you weren’t blind, but ultimately, looking back, I think high school was a defense mechanism.
There you were, online charter school, with no one around but your parents. Of course your views would reflect the world around you. Youth group also does that to people. You said you’re “politically incorrect”, but what does that really mean? It just means you were trying to be an adult. An edgy, stupid adult.
Community college was easy, but it was the first time you realized maybe you aren’t the new hotness. Maybe you should do better. Just maybe.
It wasn’t until university where your whole life stretched out ahead of you that you realized something. There’s something called LGBT, and it basically means that other than straight and gay, there’s a whole host of interesting things you can be. Crazy, I know! So while you shuffled on your way to classes, just remember that towards the end of your college career, you found femme men attractive. V E R y attractive.
And then comes the end of 2015, where you tell yourself, “I think I know what I am. I’m bisexual.” You still like women, and you know it, but you wouldn’t mind dating a man.
So, where are you now? Kinda wishing the world would cool it’s jets and take care of racism, like why are we still entertaining the whims of racists. Also, a plague!
In all seriousness, the next four years will be difficult. Really difficult. But here’s the thing. When you manage to dig yourself out of this hell and find the strength to tell the world, “You don’t dictate me, or my sexuality,” that is what true power sounds like. That is what real strength looks like.
Im proud of whatever your doing, be it showing off to the world, surviving, coping, using defense mechanisms, or coming to terms with who you are. Right now, things could be better. But you now have the capability and the strength to show anyone that you are more than your depression and anxiety. You are an accomplished musician with several albums released. You are a caring and nurturing friend to those around you. You love your godson. You enjoy DnD and animation. You think Legend of Korra shouldn’t be trashed (shout out to LoK for giving you the world bisexuality). You still practice your religion but know that the dogma does not influence your views. You like men more than women now, but you don’t mind dating either. In fact, you’re good to date anyone regardless of gender! And yes, there’s this neat little thing called pansexuality, but for the record, you like knowing you’re bisexual. It’s the label you fought for, and no one can redefine what you are. Shout out to the pansexuals tho.
You also have a loving friend who wants to take you on a date for the first time, and he’s the same one you’ve had eyes on for two years. You are bisexual. Be proud of that. You’ve earned the right to be proud.

“Is it alive?”
I am a huge fan of True blood. I also have some degree of face blindness (as in sometimes, in some situations, I can’t recognize my own parents, or I mistake a stranger for a family member). I obviously know who Joe Manganiello is, and yet, when I first saw his face on today’s GMM, I thought to myself, oh, another celebrity guest I’ve never heard of. Until I heard his voice, and saw his name on the screen. Is it a bad excuse for not recognizing him, that I've mostly only seen him without his shirt on (and with a beard)? Once I saw past the hoodie and shaved face, I was a little starstruck. (I mean, even though I just recently wrote a rant about how all famous werewolves are male and it makes no sense, I have absolutely nothing against Alcide. He carried his canine heritage, and his fur, with honor.)
Tumblr media
Talking about fur, is it just me or has Link appeared to be particularly fluffy in the head region recently? Is he growing his hair out, too? Rhett’s hair surely seems like it has lost the battle against gravity today, but maybe it’s just because for once, they have a guest who is almost as tall as he is...
Also, are they having some kind of “wear your bff’s clothes” week at Mythical? I could swear Link has worn that blue and pink shirt before, and the rust coloured shirt Link is wearing today looks more like something Rhett would wear (if my memory serves me, please correct me - but if I’m wrong, they definately should wear these shirts the other way around, too).
Today’s episode is the second edition of the amazing game of What’s on My Mask?, and just like the previous time, the true star of this game is the Mythical art team. Yes, the masks are weird, but they are also pretty cool and awesome.
Tumblr media
Well, I can’t honestly call Larry the Cable Guy mask cool. I was quite surprised by how long it took Rhett to figure his mask out, but his thought process was a delight to watch. And Joe carefully explaining him that the mask is not something like in the Silence of the Lambs was hilarious. “Put the lotion in the basket.” I wonder if Link has seen that movie? At least he seems to get the reference.
Tumblr media
It took a while, but Rhett finally managed to get from the Sausage man (through Kevin Bacon - Bill Worker - did he actually guess Mall cop? and the Cable Pasta Guy) to Larry the Cable Guy. I think even Link’s Walmart method might have gotten there faster. Let’s go to round 2.
Tumblr media
Joe’s mask is like something from a steam punk nightmare. Very cool, but also pretty scary. Not only because I hate vacuum noises and they absolutely freak me out, but somehow not seeing his eyes through the mask makes this worse. I do wish they’d tilted the camera just a tad more, because the awesome mohawk of vacuum parts is barely visible.
Of course, Link managed to confuse Joe completely with his hints. I mean, yeah, technically you probably use a vacuum to clean your books, but that is a far stretch (I should probably vacuum my bookshelves at some point soon). For once, Rhett was doing the right thing trying to steer Joe’s thoughts away from anything Link said, and since he is starting to look a bit angelic with his long locks, Joe saying it feels like having the angel and the devil on his shoulders is pretty accurate. But how very L.A. is it that after Rhett says this is something you’d take into any room, Joe’s first guess is a bong, and not, say, a vacuum cleaner? Was this the first time in GMM history that Link actually used the word bong?
Tumblr media
Once the cleaning appliances were out of the way, it was Link’s turn to guess.
Tumblr media
The doll head mask Link wore in the earlier version of this game is iconic, but so is the ant farm mask. I’ve never had an ant farm, but if I’m not completely mistaken, it must have taken a while to get the system running, with all the tunnels and everything. And, there are trees and houses above the whole thing! I was dying watching Rhett and Joe follow the ants slowly creeping toward Link’s hair, while Link was perfectly oblivious to what he was wearing. I wish we’d been able to see his expression when they talked about the potential danger involved. His shoulders look worried.
Tumblr media
“Is it alive?”  “Yes.” “Is it contained?”  “No.”
A few questions later:
“Are they gonna remember me?”
This sweet little man is worried about possibly traumatizing the poor things on his head. He is handling the situation surprisingly well, and somehow, he doesn’t panic quite as much as with the orbee in his ear as with an ant. The mask does get a little foggy, though.
In GMMore, the guys try to guess which Dungeons and Dragons creatures are real and which are not. I’ve never played DnD, probably mostly because I live in the middle of nowhere and there can only be so many geeks in one little town. I’d actually love dressing up in a costume for a game night, but the sad truth is, I have trouble finding anyone willing to even play Scrabble with me. I’d like to try DnD though, so far everything I know about the game is based on Stranger Things and iZombie, and now, GMM. Who would have known that the game has actual embassadors, and that Joe Manganiello is one of them?
Oh, and here’s a little tid bit of information regarding the word fartlek - which the guys try to define for the wheel ending. It’s originally Swedish, and means speed play (not the drug, but actual rate at which you are going kinda speed). Fart means speed, and lek means play. I do prefer the definition the guys came up with, though. It reminds me of a similar measure for distance used in Finnish Lappland, poronkusema, which means the distance between the times a reindeer needs to take a break to pee (they can’t run and pee at the same time). Apparently, this distance can be up to 7.5 kilometres.  And this concludes the informative part of this post.
I do wish people still played more games without electronic devices. A game like Dungeons and Dragons leaves so much more room for imagination than a pre-directed video game, and the artwork shown for the real creatures is amazing. My problem with video games has always been that things get too intense - which is why I usually just make crossword puzzles instead. I wonder if my poor heart could take the excitement of DnD?
What a fun episode this was! I’m always impressed at how comfortable the guests seem to be on GMM. When you compare GMM to any regular talk show, they do so much more background research to make sure they have something that fits what the guest is interested in, and it shows. When the guests are having fun, it makes it so much more interesting to watch. I do hope Link gets to visit Joe’s house one day for a game night.

Veronica opened the door to the common room, balancing her bottle and the extra books that hadn’t fit into her bag anymore in her arms. She was already late and felt awful about it but the lesson had dragged on for longer than she expected and until she had found her way to the common room where the meeting for the Book Club, she was way too late.
As she rushed into the room, she wasn’t faced with a group of people discussing books but instead five guys sitting around a table decked out with papers and pens, a screen of some kind of screen separating a part of the table from the rest. Veronica stopped dead in her tracks. Her bottle finally won the battle against her and dropped to the ground.
“Ah, sh- Um, sorry, I thought the book club was meeting today?”
She stopped the bottle from rolling away with her foot, clutching her books to her chest.
The guys couldn’t be any more mismatched. One of them was dressed more fitting for some nightclub or fashion show than a common room in an university. His dark hair was framing his face, the eyes standing out thanks to a generous amount of kohl accentuating them. Another one of them was dressed somewhat similar but yet not at all because he looked like the complete opposite of the first guy with his blond hair and bright blue eyes. The other three were all dressed more “normal”, even if the guy with the brown hair was wearing a knitted sweater vest which was not something she would have thought to see anyone wearing at this age and day. The last two guys had dark hair, one long and curly, the other short and straight, neatly combed.
Veronica couldn’t even guess what they were doing here.
“Yes, originally, but Mary Austin asked us if she could have Tuesdays instead of Fridays, so we swapped days. So it’s the same time, just a different day.”
She stopped for a moment, mentally going through her schedule and grimaced when she realized she wouldn’t be able to attend any meetings because she would be in class then. Veronica sighed and blew a strand of hair out her face.
“Alright, sorry, I’ll be off then. Thank you.”
The next bus that drove into the direction of her apartment was coming in an hour. She could find something to do in this hour, though. There was always something to do after all.
“Oh, don’t let us chase us away!” The guy with the long black hair said. “Sit down and get comfortable if you want to.”
The university had many common rooms all over campus so she could find another one to do whatever she was going to do to pass the hour but the room was big enough for them and her without getting in each other way, even if it wasn’t the biggest common room around. She nodded thankfully and finally got rid of the things in her hands by putting them down on one of the two other tables. The curly haired guy got up and picked up her water bottle, holding out for her.
   “Thank you.”
She settled down at the table, rummaging through her stuff to find her notebook, searching for something to do to pass the time. The year had just started a week ago and there were no essays to write yet, no presentations to prepare just now and so she was stuck with flipping through her textbooks.
It wasn’t really interesting nor what she had hoped to do with her day. Still, it was way better than wandering around campus without having anything to do.
The guys were going back to whatever they were doing, papers rustling and pens scratching, pages being flipped. She wished she had brought her headphones but they were most likely still lying on her bedside table. They weren’t loud at all but she felt as if she was intruding something despite having every reason being here.
“So, I was thinking about a druid.”
   “Again?”
Somebody laughed then and more joined in and Veronica looked up shortly. The guy with the short black hair was shaking his head but also smiling as he grabbed a book, opening it on a marked page.
“Okay, druid it is. Which race? And keep in mind, we’re doing a pretty combat heavy campaign. Just for your background and all.”
She still had no idea what they were talking about. The brown haired guy had noticed her staring. He was smiling, though, and Veronica blushed, quickly looking away.
Her mother had always told her staring was rude and she should never do it. Manners had always been the most important thing to her and Veronica had grown up with her breathing down her neck to make sure she was the proper and polite daughter she had always wanted. Even now, after moving out and starting her own life in London, her mother’s words rang after her and she found herself correcting her behaviour to please her mother despite her not being here.
“-because I’m always the one who has to do heavy hitting! The only one! Because you guys alway want to play rogues and mages and shit.” The blond one complained. “Maybe I want to play a mage for once!”
“Do you want to play a mage?” The guy with the long black hair asked, propping his elbows onto the table and resting his chin on his hands.
   “Fuck no!”
“Why do you complain about it, then?” Curly haired guy asked.
Veronica had been re-reading the same page for a while now, too distracted by the guys and intrigued by what they were doing.
“Hey, do you want to play, too?”
It was the brown haired guy who called over to her. It had caught the other guys’ attention, too, and they looked back and forth between them.
“I have no idea what you are doing.” She admitted.
“Dungeons and Dragons.” All of them answered, the words quickly becoming a jumble of sounds but it was somehow still clear enough for her to understand what they were saying.
She had a vague idea what that was, only from some throw-away mentions from TV or some people she had been hanging out with but she had no real knowledge about it. She told them as much. What followed was an explanation- admittedly, a bad one because everyone starting talking all over each other and kept interrupting- but Veronica got a better idea of what it actually was. Not a good one but it was something.
“We could always need another player. If you want to, you can try it.”
Veronica looked back to her textbook. She hadn’t comprehended anything from the page- hadn’t even tried to if she was being honest- sighed, then closed it and got up. They made enough space for another chair and cleared off a little bit of the table.
“I’m Jim, by the way.” Short, straight black haired guy introduced himself. “And those are Freddie, Roger, Brian and John.”
   “My name’s Veronica.”
As it turned out, Dungeons and Dragons- or DnD as they kept calling it- was way more complicated than she ever thought it would be. Her head was spinning with all these options for races and classes and many other things Jim was explaining to her now.
“It’s alright if you don’t understand everything just yet. You’ll get there with time.” Freddie assured her.
Veronica didn’t even know if she was going to take the time she might need to understand everything. She hadn’t anticipated this at all. Her day had started out with her firmly believing she was going to joining a book club, not doing this. She had planned on joining some kind of club at university because it would help her making friends with people with similar interests outside of her classes. But since she couldn’t join the book club now, she might as well find something new. If this new thing in question was this, she didn’t know yet. It might as well be.
“Okay, easy thing first: Which race do you want?”
   “Uh, elf maybe?”
Jim flipped through a book- the rulebook, she was told- and when he found what he had been looking for, he pushed it towards her. She read over the part he pointed out to her which explained to her how elves worked in this.
“There are also half elves, just on the other page.”
She hummed absently, already busy reading. Jim seemed to be happy with that and went back to talk to Freddie about his character idea. It helped a little bit so Veronica understood somewhat more and afterwards she read the text about half elves, too and decided she liked them way more. Jim was still busy with Freddie and she waited awkwardly, holding the book open at the page.
   “Did you pick something?”
John had noticed her looking like she didn’t have a clue what she was supposed to do now. It wasn’t far off from the truth, honestly. She felt kind of lost in the midsts of all this. There was just so many things and Veronica had no idea where to even begin.
   “Yeah, half elf?”
It sounded more like a question, her voice trailing up at the end and she searched for any sign that she was doing something wrong.
“Alright, solid choice, do you need help with the classes?” He asked.
   “Yes, please.”
John chuckled lowly and tugged on the book so she would let it go and turned a few pages.
“Do you want something that’s more combat, heavy-hitting, or more range or maybe magic?”
She looked at him helplessly, shrugging and John smiled and nodded. Veronica chuckled, feeling somewhat embarrassed. It was stupid because she knew nothing about DnD so of course she had no idea about anything, really. There was nothing to be embarrassed about because why should she know stuff about something she never dabbled in?
He didn’t seem to hold it against her- because there was nothing to hold against her, she told herself- and started explaining the classes to her. She tried following it all but it was a lot. Thankfully, he didn’t mind when she asked question after question, willing to explain things several times. He really went into the details, spelling out the pros and cons of all classes for her.
“I guess I’m playing a fighter. Someone has to be able to do some damage.” Roger said, shrugging. “Hey, Deaks, pass the rulebook real quick, I want to check something.”
John rolled his eyes but did as he was asked.
“I can play a damage class.” Veronica said.
She kind of sold herself to joining this group. This game sounded like fun and Fridays were the only days she really had time for any clubs activities. The university had many clubs and she had chosen the book club because the timing had just been too good to pass up. She adored reading and doing so with other people and exchanging thoughts sounded like fun to her. This wasn’t reading and she didn’t understand this at all yet but it had something that intrigued her.
Roger grinned at her.
“Oh, look, someone who wants the party to survive for once! I like her already, you all can suck it. Veronica is my best friend for this campaign now.”
Freddie and Brian rolled their eyes at the blond but in a fond way, giving themselves away with their smiles. Jim was looking like someone who was used to this whole spiel and happy yet looking already done. She had no idea what the correct reaction to this was so she just smiled at Roger and then turned back to John.
   “I guess, I’m a damage class then?”
“Rog, give back the book, we have to talk damage classes!”
Roger laughed and winked at Veronica, making her laugh, and gave back the rulebook. John flicked at his nose, missing by a mile but the blond waggled his eyebrows and blew him a kiss which only made John chuckle lowly as he shook his head.
“But only because it’s for Veronica!”
In the end, she went with a cleric of the light domain. There had been so many things to choose from- domains, armor, weapons and all these little extras- it made her head spin. All of them helped her, giving her tips on what she should choose but leaving the ultimate decision up to her, even if it was something they wouldn’t suggest her to choose. Afterwards, she listened to the others creating their characters.
Brian was playing as an elf druid with a badger companion Nobody seemed surprised by that- in fact, Jim said it before Brian could and the curly haired man blushed before clearing his voice and agreeing, continuing on as if nobody had said anything.
They must be friends for a while already, Veronica assumed.
John made a human artificer and it was only thanks to Jim passing her the rulebook to read that she understood what John was saying. She understood what fighters, rogues and rangers and all these things were- she wasn’t stupid and read a lot of fantasy books- and it wasn’t too hard to get the gist of some more specific classes but she had never heard of an artificer before.
Freddie’s character was a tiefling bard which seemed fitting for what she had gotten from Freddie’s personality so far. He obviously had put a lot of thought into his character’s looks, too, going on for a while to describe the exact shape his horns had. It was somewhat adorable, seeing how excited he was as he gestured wildly.
Roger played as a dwarf fighter because- in his words- it was the best combination of all and he had expected to be the only heavy hitter on the group. He did shoot her a thankful look, though before going fully into the description of his character.
Jim, who was their DM as it looked like, then told them about the setting of their game and it was then that Veronica knew she wouldn’t miss the book club all that much. By the time Jim was giving out sheets so they could build their characters backgrounds, hours had passed and she hadn’t even really noticed.
After this, they rolled their stats which were explained to her in detail and Jim helped her where to put what stat where. She didn’t quite get what the numbers meant exactly just yet but she was assured she would with time. There was a lot of more maths and adding numbers to the character sheet they had gotten.
“We’ll meet again next week for the first actual game but please tell me about your backgrounds at least on the day before. Veronica, can I add you to the group chat?”
She gave him her number and was quickly added to a group chat with the other guys. She saved the numbers into her phone and so did they.
“I can send you some links that explain things, if you want me to.” Jim offered as they packed their things together.
“That would be useful, thank you.”
Jim smiled at her and Veronica smiled back. They said their goodbyes and she gathered her things again, carefully putting her papers between the pages of one of her textbooks so they didn’t get crumbled.
Freddie, Jim and John left in the same direction as her and they kept an easy stream of chatter between them. Veronica couldn’t help but smile as she listened to them, occasionally joining in with her own short remarks. Freddie hugged her when they had to part ways, Jim and John waved after her.
She didn’t even mind having to wait another twenty minutes for her bus.
+++
   “Make a persuasion check.”
Roger groaned but grabbed his die, shaking them in his hands before letting it roll. Veronica watched with one hand clamped over her mouth, her face hurting from laughter. Freddie wasn’t fairing much better as it looked like, his shoulders shaking with mirth. They exchanged a look, both of them breaking into a new fit of laughter that infected Brian and John, too.
“Uh, 13?” Roger said. “Is that enough?”
He shot them a quick look, desperately trying to keep it stern but it only lasted about a second before he started laughing, too. Jim was the only one who was halfways composed but he was also giggling as he went through his notes.
“Alright, then.” He said, clearing his throat and slipping back into his DM voice. “The guard looks kind of weirded out by you, eyeing you up and down, but eventually nods and lets you all pass.”
Jim then launched into a description of the town and Veronica quickly composed herself and made some notes of things she thought might be important.
John, who was sitting next to her, opened a new bottle of water and when he noticed her looking, he offered it to her first.
“Thank you.” She murmured, not wanting to interrupt the DM and took the offered bottle.
   “You’re welcome.”
+++
Roger, Brian and John were waiting in front of the lecture hall and Veronica smiled when she saw them, squeezing past other students.
“Hey, Veronica! How was class?” Roger greeted her, pulling her into a half hug.
She hugged Brian, too, having to go on her tiptoes to be able to wrap her arms around his neck and then she hugged John. It might just be her imagination but she thought maybe the hug lingered just a little bit longer than usual.
“It was nice. A bit boring.”
They had planned to take advantage of the good weather, holding this week’s session outside in a little secluded seating area. It was probably a stupid idea and they all knew it but the idea had come up and they kept joking about it and now they were doing it.
It proved to be an awful idea because it was windy and the table was way smaller than they thought it would be and they basically were sitting squished together. Nobody could sit next to Jim- for obvious reasons- so they only had one measly bench to sit on.
John’s thigh was pressed up against hers and she could feel the warmth of his skin seep through the fabric of her skirt. She couldn’t move without brushing up against him. It made her blush madly and she just hoped it could be played off as coming from all the laughing.
Veronica had no idea when this little crush had started but it was a thing now and she didn’t know what she was supposed to do with it now. Sure, John was nice to her but he seemed like the guy who was nice to everyone. She wasn’t special in this regard. She wasn’t special at all, in fact.
There was absolutely no reason for him to like her in any other way than a platonic one. Which was fine. She could live with that. Maybe. If John would just stop moving and knocking their arms together. It wasn’t his fault and Veronica felt bad about getting a little bit frustrated with him because he wasn’t even doing anything.
“I’ll cast fireball against the owlbear.” She said when it was her turn in combat.
John gave her a thankful smile as his character had been quite knocked around by the monster which was now distracted by Veronica’s character. She smiled back, ignoring the way her heart fluttered.
+++
Veronica had no idea what time it was, she only knew it was late and she was tired. They had assembled at Freddie’s and Jim’s apartment, sitting on the floor around the new battle map Jim had bought for a weekend full of dungeon crawling.
She couldn’t feel her left leg below the knee. It had fallen asleep about an hour ago and by now she really didn’t want to stand up, dreading the inevitable pins and needles that would bring.
Roger yawned loudly, almost knocking into Veronica as he did so. Jim followed, then Brian and John and then all of them were yawning.
Veronica slumped a little bit, closing her eyes for just a moment while Freddie charmed his way into the hearts of the noblemen. John’s shoulder proved to be a pretty comfortable pillow for her head.
“Ronnie, hey, we’re done for today.”
She flinched, sitting upright suddenly and groaned at the stiffness in her neck. Blinking blearily, she looked up at John.
   “Did I fall asleep?”
   “A little bit.”
A blush rose on her cheeks and she rubbed her neck, awkwardly clearing her throat. John smiled at her. He got up with a low groan and held out a hand to help her up. Her leg didn’t appreciate it and she winced, pinching her calf and immediately regretting it. She hissed and squeezed John’s hand.
   “You okay?”
She nodded and let go of him with an apologetic smile, carefully stepping over the miniatures and the battle map. She stretched, frowning when her spine popped loudly.
“Oh, I heard that.” Freddie said, face contorted in empathy.
Veronica laughed quietly as she squatted down again to help cleaning up the room, grabbing the empty chip bags and used cups and brought them into the kitchen. John followed not long afterwards, carrying several plates.
“Where’s the dishwasher?” She asked him.
“They have none. Just put it in the sink for now. We’ll take care of it tomorrow.”
The idea didn’t really appear to her, she would rather take care of it now but she also didn’t want to do dishes now at all. So she only nodded and put the cups into the sink and threw the bags in the trash. Brushing off some crumbs from her shirt, she checked the clock. Just past three in the morning. She groaned.
“Ronnie, you get the sofa!” Jim yelled from the living room.
   “Thanks! Appreciate it!”
She could faintly hear Roger mock-complaining about her being favoritized and she rolled her eyes, barely suppressing a grin.
“I’m glad you could make it.” John said.
He wasn’t directly looking at her, rummaging through the fridge instead but he glanced at her quickly.
   “So am I!” She admitted.
There had been so many essay deadlines and presentations she had to deliver in the past week and Veronica hadn’t been sure if she could come. Honestly, there was still a lot of things to do but she decided she deserved a break.
“We probably would have died without you.”
She chuckled and knocked their shoulders together.
   “You would have.”
“We are very cocky today, aren’t we?” John gasped, his wide grin betraying his hurt and betrayed voice.
Veronica bit her lip, unable to not smile back at him and then shook her head slightly. She also didn’t know where this suddenly came from. John was chuckling and pulled out two cups of yoghurt from wherever they had been hidden inside the fridge.
   “Late night snack?” He asked.
“Yes, always. I get the spoons, you hide the food from Rog.”
+++
   “I can’t buy them.”
She stared at the dice displayed in front of her. They were beautiful, yellow with white in a marble effect and Veronica really wanted them.
“Why not?” John asked, effortlessly looking over her shoulder.
“I didn’t came here to buy anything.”
That was true. John had asked her if she wanted to go to the comic book store. He said he needed a certain color for a new miniature he was painting and she hadn’t seen any reason to not come along.
“Just because you didn’t plan to buy anything doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to buy anything.”
Veronica turned her head to look back at him over her shoulder. He looked amused, a grin tugging on the corner of his mouth. She looked back to the dice and bit her lip.
“I already have a pair of dice.”
She did. Right after the first playing session, she had ordered the dice she needed. It was a simple pair, just simple black dice and they were nice but they weren’t pretty like those were.
“Yeah, and? Have you seen Freddie’s dice bag? He has so many dice! Probably more than any of us combined. Brian has quite the collection, too.”
He wasn’t wrong. Freddie had a huge bag that was filled with dice of all kinds of colors. He had borrowed her some until she had bought her own. She shrugged.
   “I don’t need them, though.”
   “But you want them.”
Veronica made a frustrated sound. She did want them. They were pretty. But she didn’t need them. John sighed, then chuckled and reached around her to grab the dice.
“If you won’t buy them, I’ll buy them for you.”
She grabbed his arm quickly and held it tightly, eyes wide as he shook her head.
“No! I can’t let you do that. I don’t need them, I’m fine.”
John leaned in a little bit, smiling at her before he let his head fall against her shoulder and sighed.
“Buy the dice, Ronnie. If they make you happy, buy them. Or let me buy them for you.”
He quickly straightened up again, easily pried her fingers from his wrist and pushed the dice into her hand. She contemplated it for a long moment, then sighed and nodded.
“Fine, I’ll buy them.” She grumbled.
His grin was wide and he squeezed her shoulder. Veronica blushed and clutched the bag of dice in her hand as she followed John to where the paints were displayed.
+++
Veronica straightened out her skirt and fussed over her hair for a moment before grabbing her purse and rushed downstairs.
John’s car was already parked in front of her apartment and he was standing next to it, dressed in a nice shirt and pair of pants. Veronica’s heart sped up a little bit. She smiled, blushing when he returned the smile.
   “You look very pretty.”
Her cheeks felt hot already and she absently brushed over the fabric of her skirt. He had surprised her when he had asked her for a date after one of their play sessions. It had been embarrassing how long it had taken her to form an answer but John hadn’t seemed to mind much. His face had been bright red but the relieved smile when she had said yes had been adorable.
“You look good, too.” She said, gently fixing his collar.
John drove them to a small but nice restaurant, holding open doors for her and asked before he took her hand. The food was good and she had worried they wouldn’t have anything to talk about but that wasn’t the case. They were chatting the whole evening and Veronica didn’t want it to end. John seemed to feel the same, drawing it out and only asking for the bill only when he really couldn’t hold it off anymore.
“Do you want to go for a walk?” She asked.
   “Yes, please!”
There was a park not far from the restaurant and John took her hand again- asking for permission again- and they walked along the pavel paveway. Veronica listened to him ramble about his latest engineering projects and it was fascinating even if she didn’t really know how most of it worked. John probably didn’t understand much about her curriculum classes but he listened anyway and asked questions nonetheless.
At some point, they could not make any pretenses anymore and had to go back to the car to drive home again.
“I’d really enjoyed this evening.” Veronica said.
“Me too. Can- May I take you out again?”
She nodded, bit her lip and tucked her hair behind her ear. Would John try and kiss her? She would like that, she thought.
He didn’t kiss her, instead he got out of the car to open her car door and help her getting out. He did press a chaste, almost fleeting kiss to her cheek after bringing her to the apartment door.
“Thank you for the nice evening.” He mumbled, a dark blush spreading over his cheekbones.
She chuckled, ducking her head slightly and squeezed his hand, their fingers still laced together.
“No, thank you. See you tomorrow for the game?”
   “Wouldn’t dare to miss it.”

I get Kit saying that he owes DnD for his career but they may have sank his career with the handing of his character in S7&8. It seems like more people are blaming him for his character being ooc then they are blaming anyone else for the same (right or wrong).
Hello!
I haven’t read any recent interviews from Kit but if he does feel that way I can’t blame him. At the end of the day, it was D&D who adapted the books and they played a big part in making it all possible. Not that he owes them everything because of it, but I could see why he is grateful towards them.
It’s tricky with Kit and D&D. They did a complete disservice to his character in the last 2 seasons but particularly in the last 2 episodes of the series. They made Jon the mouth piece of every Dany Stan that was looking to take up arms with excuses they’ve been regurgitating for years now. Once his storyline merged with Daenerys, Kit/Jon took a backseat much like Tyrion/Dinklage did by the end of season 5. It’s a shame, and I wish D&D hadn’t played favorites with their actors and the characters when it came to Daenerys.
I wouldn’t say they sank it. Kit is a talented actor with a background in a crazy famous show so I don’t think he will lack any job offers. However, as an actor they did really take away a lot of opportunity this season for Kit to portray Jon like he never has before. There was so many huge moments for Jon this season like the parentage reveal and being the heir to the Seven Kingdoms. Instead all of that was overshadowed to prop up or push Daenerys arc. Kit has worked his ass off and he was downgraded in his own arc. His POV completely blocked from us and we never got to see the impact the reveal had on him.
We don’t really know how he feels. Was he mad at Ned? Understood? How does he feel about Rhagaer? Lyanna? Was it fear that kept him Daenerys or her being his aunt? Does he feel any more a Stark? Targaryen? Will he keep his name? We don’t know because we never got to properly explore his inner conflict and thoughts. This isn’t even the first time they’ve done this. Jon died in season 5 and after his resurrection in season 6, he comes back the same. That could have been erased from the storyline completely and would have made no difference in who he was as a person. Even Beric got to talk about the effects dying had on him.
They’ve been tampering with Jon’s character since season 6 but it was only in season 8 had they made him unrecognizable to the audience. The same man who defied a king to end needless suffering excusing the mass genocide of thousands of women and children. Only deciding to take action when his family had been brought up and his constant reassurance that Daenerys was “his queen” is an on going joke but unfortunately an accurate summary of the complete butchering of his character.
I do not fault Kit at all. He gave his everything (like the rest of the actors) these last 8 years playing Jon Snow and he deserved a better conclusion to this character.

August Media Madness
Well, August may have sucked for me personally, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t keep track of all the media I consumed this month! And spoiler alert, I watched a lot of movies involving adorable talking bears. Although, I have a feeling that as soon as the fall television premieres start, I’ll be watching a lot less movies.
July’s media
Movies!
Dear Evan Hansen
Thank you bootlegs. This isn’t a movie, but I didn’t want to make a separate category for plays when I’ve only seen one this month. Anyway, if you haven’t heard of it, Dear Evan Hansen involves an incredibly anxious teenage boy who is tasked by his therapist to write motivational letters to himself. Unfortunately, Connor Murphy, an angsty boy who goes to Evan’s school sees one of the letters, takes it, and promptly decides to kill himself, with the letter still on his person. Everyone ends up thinking he and Evan were friends and that this letter was a suicide note that Connor wrote to Evan...and a beautiful fake gay relationship friendship was born. Call me basic as hell, but I’ve watched this show twice now, and listened to the soundtrack more times than I can count, and it’s turning into my favorite musical. There are so many important messages in it, and it takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. Every character does good and bad things, and no one is blameless or innocent...except maybe Zoe Murphy. If anything just listen to the soundtrack. 10/10
Tumblr media
Night on the Galactic Railroad
Cats...on a mystical train...This seems like the kind of movie they would show you in film school. Very dull plot and characters with the themes being the main takeaway. What even is the plot of this movie? Darker, grittier, furry version of the Polar Express? Incredibly boring slightly more religious version of Over the Garden Wall? I just kept watching it because the main character looks like a cat version of Kagayama Tobio in middle school...cat-gayama. 4/10
Paddington
An adorable bear from South America travels to London and gets into all sorts of trouble with an English family. It’s very charming and sweet, and the aesthetic in this movie is on point, like Wes Anderson directed a children’s movie. This is one of those movies you hear about where everyone loves it, and you think it can’t possibly be that good, but then you watch it and you were wrong! So wrong! 10/10
Paddington 2
Naturally. This time an adorable South American bear goes to prison, and his family tries to clear his name. Again, A+ aesthetic and imagery, but I think I preferred the plot of the first movie a little more because everyone was all together. 9/10
Christopher Robin
Do you like Winnie the Pooh? Do you like jaded adults finding happiness in their lives again? Do you think the movie Hook had a good premise but was extremely long and kinda boring and could have been a better movie with a little tweaking? Well this is the movie for you! Christopher Robin has grown into an overworked adult, and his old friend Winnie the Pooh inadvertently helps him reconnect with his wife and daughter (and also his inner child) just by being the sweet, clumsy, dry humored bear we all know and love. I was so skeptical of this movie at first, and I was absolutely blown away by how funny and meaningful it was. 100/10
The Road to El Dorado
Two lovable Spanish con men named Miguel and Tulio are accidentally swept away on a journey to the fabled city of El Dorado, where everything is made of gold. Once they reach the city, the locals believe they’re gods due to an (un)fortunate series of coincidences, and the con men try to keep up the charade with the help of the best character in the movie, Chel (who I’m pretty sure caused an entire generation of lesbians’ sexual awakening). This is one of my favorite animated movies of all time and one of the reasons I wish Dreamworks would go back to their 2D animation days, where the visuals and music were just as stunning as 3D movies are now. This movie is a classic, and I desperately want a sequel! 10/10
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
When Lara Jean thinks it’s a good idea to write 5 secret love letters to 5 boys that she’s had crushes on over the years, everything is fine until her little sister mails the letters to all the boys (because even a 6th grader knows Lara Jean is lonely and emotionally stunted as fuck). This is a Netflix original movie that was adapted from the book by Jenny Han...which I haven’t read, but now I really want to. Overall, this was super cute, but I wasn’t really crazy about the boys. They weren’t horrible people or anything, and they never pressured Lara Jean or made fun of her for being “innocent”, but they were just kind of bland. I’m much more interested in the other boys we didn’t see in the movie! But the family relationships were so heartfelt, Lara Jean’s fashion sense is AMAZING, and the acting/casting was awesome. 8/10
Tumblr media
Summer Wars
I...don’t even know how to describe the plot of this one. A teenage boy named Kenji goes on a country holiday and pretends to date an acquaintance of his in order to impress her enormous family...but it’s really about an AI that becomes sentient and wants to mess up the world through this universal internet program called OZ that’s kind of like a mashup of Facebook and Second Life...but actually no it’s about family sticking together and using a Japanese card game to save the world…but apparently it’s got the same plot as the Digimon movie because they’re both directed by Mamoru Hosoda. Yeah...
Guys, I have a confession to make...this has always been my favorite Mamoru Hosoda movie. Everyone falls all over themselves saying Wolf Children is the best Mamoru Hosoda movie, and that’s great for them but it doesn’t even come in second for me. Summer Wars means a lot more to me personally because I come from a big extended family, and when I first saw this movie, I was blown away by how accurate the family dynamic was. There are so many characters, but everyone has their own personality. Not to mention the music makes the summer atmosphere so on point. And I’m not going to lie...I bawled like a fucking baby the first time I saw this movie. So anyway, I like Summer Wars more than Wolf Children, thanks for coming to my TED talk. 10/10
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Unappreciated researcher Milo Thatch goes on an expedition to find the lost city of Atlantis.
Okay, there are two kinds of Disney fans in this world: Treasure Planet fans, and Atlantis fans. And I will support Treasure Planet as the best underrated vaguely steampunk inspired Disney movie until you can pry my 15 year old dvd copy away from my cold dead hands. But Atlantis is pretty good too. I could write essays comparing the two and why both of them should be successful but weren’t. My main problem with it is that the characters are great, but I feel like we don’t see enough of them, and as a kid a lot of the humor went by so fast that I completely missed it. Also the glowing eyes and spirits taking over the Atlantian princess’s body freaked me the fuck out as a child. NEVERTHELESS! This really is a great movie, with extremely well developed lore and well designed characters that chills me to this day. 8/10
Deadpool 2
The merc with a mouth is back, and man there’s so much going on in this movie I won’t even try to explain the plot. I literally had to go back and add this in because I was so into this movie when I was watching it that I forgot to write it down! Even though I really liked this sequel, I think I liked the first one better, just based on how much I laughed. There was so much going on plot wise, but it really seemed to work for this movie. There were also a lot of great new characters (Domino is my favorite character of the franchise now), but since there was so much stuff going on, a lot of jokes and plot lines were sort of hit and miss. Anyway, I’m sure everyone’s seen this one by now but just in case, I highly recommend it. 9/10
Books!
The Adventure Zone Graphic Novel: Here There be Gerblins by Clint McElroy (technically all the McElboys) and Carey Pietsch
Yeah yeah, for anyone who doesn’t know I’m Adventure Zone trash okay. TAZ is a DnD podcast where 3 brothers and their father create one of the most famous campaigns in history involving three idiot adventurers going on a quest to find a missing person and getting sucked into a much larger grand plan to protect the world. This graphic novel is a visualization of the first arc. I don’t even really like Here There be Gerblins all that much, and yet here I am. Oh well, the art was amazing, and of course I already knew the story. But it was kind of hilarious to see the name changes they had to make to some of the characters and places. I was a little disappointed that the ending was so rushed, and we don’t really spend time around the moon base before The Director is in our face changing the Lunar Interlude parts but whatever. 10 dead gerblins/10
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
When a disease that only affects children kills off nearly all the kids on the planet, the survivors are left with supernatural powers and are taken away to concentration camps in order to “protect” the public. I’ve been wanting to read this for a long time, and since the movie just came out I thought it was the perfect time. This is one of those books that some people adore and some people hate. I thought it was just okay. For everything that I didn’t like, there was something to make up for it. Personally, I felt that Bracken focused on the wrong part of the story. Everything takes place years after this disease has come, and I think it would have been more interesting to see everything from the children’s points of view when this disease was first starting. I would focus on each different character as a child and how they wound up in their respective camps. Oh well, there’s way too many pros and cons  that I could delve into, but you like the YA dystopian genre then I say go for it. I didn’t like it enough to read the other two books (not yet anyway). 7/10
TV Shows!
Camp Camp
You know how there are summer camps that specialize in science, or acting, or space, or whatever? Yeah Camp Camp is about a summer camp that throws literally everything you can think of into one summer camp. If you don’t believe me, just listen to the theme song. Seriously though this is one of the best shows I’ve watched all year, but boy howdy this is not one for young children. It’s like Gravity Falls and Rick and Morty had a baby! Anyway, the characters are both surprising and hilarious. David the camp counselor (voiced by Miles Luna) is genuinely likable when you think he’d be the most annoying person on the planet, and the kids are so accurate it’s scary. Also Yuri Lowenthal is in it. And Griffin McElroy has a recurring role where he plays A GHOST! I’ve never been into Rooster Teeth stuff, but they have a winner with this one. 10/10
Tumblr media
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
After her husband leaves her, Midge Maisel gets super drunk, goes on stage, and gives a hilarious rant about her relationship at a small comedy/talent club and somehow gets sucked into becoming a rising comedian as a woman in the 1950s. It’s good. Great acting pretty funny, but Midge and her agent/manager Susie are the only likable characters. Everyone else just kind of...sucks 8/10
Voltron Season 7 (spoilers)
Okay, I know everyone had mixed feelings about this season, but I did come out liking a lot of it. It had a lot of flaws (I really thought it would be Shiro’s season, and man was I wrong), but this is the sort of thing we can’t really judge until the last episode of the series is finished. I like to think of the positives: the action was amazing as usual, HUNK IS GETTING MORE AND MORE DEVELOPMENT EVERY SEASON, I refuse to believe the team introduced Adam just to have him killed off immediately so he’s still alive in my mind, we get to see everyone’s reunions with their families, the lost in space episode was cool, and say what you want about the game show episode, but I loved it! There were a lot of good things so it was easier for me to look past the...not so great aspects of the season. 7/10
Galavant
A musical comedy mini series involving a renowned medieval hero named Galavant on a quest to rescue his ex girlfriend from her “evil” husband King Richard. But maybe she doesn’t want to be rescued. Well, that’s just the first season. It’s best to go in knowing as little as possible. I remember liking it when it first came out, and it’s still pretty cute...but sometimes I feel like it’s trying too hard. A lot of the music isn’t really...memorable, but the characters are likable so it’s still worth the watch. 8/10
Disenchantment
Speaking of medieval comedies...Princess Bean doesn’t want to get married, mystical elf Elfo doesn’t want to live in an enchanted forest where everyone is happy all the time, and Bean’s personal demon Luci just wants to watch people suffer. Honestly, I wasn’t very into this show at first, but something compelled me to just keep watching, and by the end I was totally into it! This is one of those shows where you think there isn’t going to be a plot, but then the last few episodes come up and smack you in the face! 7.5/10
Tumblr media
Round Planet
A documentary parody...mockumentary...satire...That’s really not a great way to describe it. It’s a nature documentary with funny commentary. I like nature shots and animals so I liked it, but there’s a lot of tangents and running jokes and British references that sometimes don’t land. Oh well, if you like unconventional documentaries, just watch it. 8/10
Honorable Mentions
DnDnD: I don’t think I’ve ever talked about this podcast before, but there’s a DnD podcast made by Practical Folks (aka the Drunk Disney youtube channel). It’s pretty good! I want an Adventure Zone crossover now!
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Every time I think I’m out, it pulls me back in. I finally got the DLC and spent most of this month playing this freaking game AGAIN!
The Heathers soundtrack: I finally listened to the Heathers musical soundtrack...and I didn’t love it. There are some good songs in it, but overall I’m unimpressed. And I never could really get into the plot, I’ve always thought it was really weird and over dramatic.
Legendary by Stephanie Garber: I’m about halfway through this book, which is the second in the Caraval series. And it’s pretty good! More on that next month.

Hello people, I actaully wanted to wait with introducing Baltazar, my new DnD bab, until I made him a proper reference, but I don't really have any time to draw one... so have a bunch of quite related sketches xD <3 I'll make him za proper ref later, and turn this into a sketch-dump --- Callname:Emil/Baltazar
Name: Baltazar Emil Qazir Full-Name: Baltazar Emil A'zam Duman Jaren Qazir Languages: Common, Dwarfish
Age: 25, born on the first day of June Sex/Gender: Male Height: 1,92m/6'3 Race: Human Class: Bard (Lore) Background: Entertainer/Noble Sexuality: Bard (Bi)
Favorite Instrument: Violin. Alignment/Personality: Neutral, A big mouthed Jester, friendly, optimistic, curious, flirty and a Drama-Queen. Flaws: Dramatic, big mouth and terrified of sex.
Background: (will edit this slightly later, this has been written weeks ago and isn't a 100% accurate anymore) Baltazar was born on the first day of June in the city Setus. He was the 7th and youngest son of a wealthy merchant family, having 4 brothers ( (34) Amin, (32)Kareem, (30)Jarah, (26)Gabriel, and ( and 2 sisters (Farah (30) and Iris (34) above him.  Baltazar had always been the "runt of the litter", and has endured quite some teasing from three of his older brothers. Tall but lanky, Emil wasn't strong, and always out searching for trouble. This often caused him to clash with his father, "A'zam" who really wished Emil would become more serious instead of going on about silly adventures and hanging around in inn's every night. Actually just fearing for his well-being.
As a proper noblemen's son Baltazar was learned etiquette from a young age, getting schooled by a wise old teacher (Nazim), who had years of experience teaching his older brothers and sisters. Emil wasn't the best student however and caused quite the frustration to his teacher. He skipped classes, pulled tricks on his teacher and rarely did the work he was expected to or find some kind of way to do his tasks with the least effort possible. Emil was much too busy learning plays out of his head, creating new songs or just dreaming of thinking about what it would be like to be actually free, to travel the lands, slay monsters, be a hero, to do such boring and repetitive tasks. It didn't matter anyway, he was the youngest, he would one day be married to a rich woman and that would be it. He often worried about his future, a future, which in his opinion, could only become boring. The moments he spent on stage, telling people silly stories, singing about the old legends or when he played his violin, were the moments he actually felt alive, at those moments he could feel a certain kind of power flowed through, which could vaguely be described as a warmth but different. To him, it seemed that all that they wanted to do is take that from him, make him "more serious" as he would never honor his family's name as a simple entertainer. One day Emil had pushed too far, however, he missed his teacher's lessons again and had a big fight with his father. All Emil's frustration and fear for the future came out at that point. Which ended with Emil, angerly saying that he was going to leave the city and that he would prove them that he would become worth something, he would become a great entertainer, a Hero even, his name would become known! With that, he packed his stuff and left the next morning. Quite quickly Emil found out that traveling was definitely not as easy or fun as he expected and regretted his decision quite quickly as he started to run out of gold, the city of Malukah was mostly surrounded by desert and small villages, where there was no way for him to make any profit. After traveling for days, he decided that he really wasn't ready to cross an entire dessert after having a nasty run-in with Goblins. He finally reached a cross point between three larger cities. He decided to travel between the cities, to try out work as an entertainer to earn some gold. For a few years, he played music at inns, took on small roles in plays and did some odd jobs to earn some extra gold. In these years he discovered the kind of power within himself again, a power which he studied and could control more and more each day. He learned spells, spending time talking to other bards and visiting libraries. Eventually, he learned several spells, for example, understand any language if he wanted or even heat or melt metal with the right tune or rhythm, he could even make some people do as he wished. Even though he enjoyed the entertaining, his new found powers and being able to do whatever he wanted, he realized he became somewhat stuck there, unable to grow, his running out of ideas for songs or tales. But what was he supposed to do? He couldn't go back home and wasn't confident enough of his abilities yet to go on actual adventures alone as his powers seemed mostly passive. Contemplating his options, he almost stumbled over a large cat which seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. He looked back at the table which the large black cat was laying against, sitting around it he saw what could only be described as a perfect example of a knight in shining armor drinking a large pint of... milk? and a younger somewhat odd hooded figure with a large bird emblem on his back. Emil was immediately intrigued by the curious figures and decided by them a round and started talking to them. The knight was apparently the Paladin called Adil ..., who he actually recognized by name as he had heard it before. The hooded young man was called Yashan, a Phoenix sorcerer from far away, this apparently meant he knew a lot about setting things and himself... on fire. He spends the evening talking with the adventurers and eventually convinced them to let them join their group. Extra: - Emil is a huge flirt but is absolutely terrified of sex because of a bad/silly experience. He just gets nervous about the subject and panics as soon as things become too hot and heavy. - He learned the tips and tricks about being a Bard from a bard called Rafael (The guy with the red hair long hair) - Emil used to own a tiger when he was younger, gifted to him by his brother Gabriel. - Aside from the strings, his Violin is made out of Wood, Gold, and Ivory. - He was thought to shoot his crossbow by his older brother Amin, who is good at handling most weapons known to that region. - Emil is familiar with wearing drag or being scarcely clothed on stage and used to be a part of a show in an "Entertainers-bar" for about a year. His drag is now one of his costumes next to his desert robes.

Annon-Guy: Here’s a compilation video for Amane Nishiki’s Astral Heat. His Astral does one of three things to you; it either makes you younger (Examples - Ragna, Jin and Noel), turns you into a parody (Examples - Tager as a wind up toy, Arakune as a Tarter Bug and Hakumen as Pakumen “Zea!”) or turns them into another character (Examples - Hazama turns into Kazuma Kval and Platinum turns into Trinity Glassfille). Celica and Lambda from Chrono Phantasma Extend and Naoto, Hibiki, Nine, Izanami, Es, Mai, Susano'o and Jubei from Central Fiction are not included in this video

================================================
Hope you like these. Please feel free to correct me on these. *~*~*~*~* These are cute. Not sure if it’s just me, but it feels like these play differently to a western audience. Amane’s pretty campy by western standards and deaging people to younger or childlike states might not play well with western tastes. It treads dangerously close to “effeminate/crossdressing/queer child predator vibes because the west has a really bad history of combining queer and pedophilic as evil traits in media because of the Hayes code so making your character “double bad” involved making them BOTH queer and a pedophile and that’s left kind of a bad stain on media literacy. I think it’s cute, but with the wave of anti culture going around, I can 100% see how someone could misread this (deliberately or not) as either playing into a bad stereotype or “being absolutely accurate representation of nasty filthy shippers!” I can definitely see Amane as being a character I’d main. I seem to gravitate to buff bara dad-types like Darunia or effete waifish colorful guys with femme traits. Catch me in DnD any time with a twigman tiefling bard just being tall and skinny and slutty as hell. I think Emil turning into Aster is a good way to sidestep the age issue. Because Emil’s actual “age” is hotly contested. Ratatosk, being several thousand years old and probably born either fully formed or like Corrine where his initial form wasn’t really an infant. If Emil is Ratatosk’s age, the de-aging won’t really affect him. And since we don’t know Ratatosk’s true form or at least previous form as Onshuu only shows him as humanoid and bathed in light, he can’t de-age into a previous form. Emil as a personality only existed for 6 months to a year depending on how long you think the journey in the game takes in real time. De-aging him in that sense would make him not exist, turning him to just Ratatosk. And in that case we again run into the true form problem. So transforming into Aster as being the “true form” or “parody” rather than de-aging seems like the best bet for Emil. I know realistically that Alice possibly or even probably had a happy childhood before everything bad that happened, but Zelos being self-aware about the transformation while Alice seems to actively regress to a childlike state seems... odd to me. While the game did show some characters embracing it and some wishing to return to normal, they all seemed more or less aware of their transformations. Having Alice regress doesn’t quite seem right. If anything I think it might be better if she had a toy rocking horse (or Decus doll) that she could spank with a toy riding crop. Also, and this is probably just a personal preference, but I think Richter de-aging and just sighing like “Goddamnit, puberty again?” Would be incredibly funny.
