---
He genuinely couldn't tell when exactly it happened. His plan was to set up the exchange program, have humans and angels join the demons in harmony, or at least an attempt at it, here in the Devildom. He wanted them to see how well demons could get along with other beings, and see how well the humans and angels would do along side them. Peace between the three realms was his ultimate goal; though he never foresaw how hard he would fall.
MC was a unique human in their own right. He found them incredibly charming and for some reason, he couldn't help finding himself constantly trying to be at their side, helping them study by any means or listening to them talk about their life in the Human Realm. He used excuse after excuse to get them to come over to his castle, until they finally told him that they would love to just be around him if he sought their company. They were friends after all, right?
Hmm. 'Friends'. Something about that word felt bitter on his tongue; but he accepted it with a smile and would have them over for tea and to chat, walk around the castle's garden and pick flowers for them, or even wander around the Devildom together, getting wrapped up in the shenanigans of the brothers that would leave the Demon Prince howling with laughter at their antics.
He loved every minute he got to spend with MC, and seeing them enjoy their time with him just as much made his chest swell with happiness and pride. Though, that feeling ebbed away with each passing day as he knew the school year was coming to end soon.
He would have to say goodbye to MC. He couldn't bring himself to do it; and he finally accepted why.
He was madly in love with this precious human.
A week before he knew it was going to be time for them to leave, he asked them over once more for tea. He asked Barbatos to fix their favorite, both tea and sweets that he knew they enjoyed. He had gotten a bouquet of their favorite flowers, and a document he was silently wishing they would agree to sign for him.
When they arrived, he was practically vibrating with excitement and nerves, dressed casually enough that MC giggled and teased him for not looking so princely. He simply smirked at them and shrugged, "I am allowed to be a normal demon from time to time, don't you think?"
"I suppose, though I'm surprised Barbatos let you get away with it, Dia," they teased in return, using the nickname that always made his heart flutter. They only ever used it when they were alone with him, and that made it all the more meaningful to him; made him feel as if there was a special place in their heart for him.
He lead them to his office where their usual tea time would be held, and he pulled out their chair for them, before sitting in his own. He poured their cup first, earning another surprised look from MC. "I gave Barbatos the day off. So...we could spend some time alone, if that's alright with you."
Their smile seemed to beam and they nodded. "Glad he gets some time off," they remarked with the glint of a tease, and Diavolo gave a rueful smile in return. "I know I ask a lot of him, but he is my most loyal subject. He helps me keep the Devildom from falling apart."
"I know, I meant no harm, just teasing," they assured him, patting his hand with their own. He subconsciously turned his hand to grab hold of theirs, freezing when he noticed the motion; but they didn't pull away. Instead they laced their fingers with his and he felt a warm crawling up his neck all the way to his ears.
They sat like that for a while, drinking tea and talking about how things were going in RAD and in the Devildom. It was peaceful and serene, a moment Diavolo wished would go on for eternity. But of course, the subject came up of MC having to leave...
A deep frown came over their features and they sighed, running their finger around the rim of their cup. "To be honest with you, Dia...I really don't want to go home..."
He perked up at this. They continued. "I genuinely love it here. I enjoy my time with the demon brothers, there is always something outrageous going on with the lot of them," they added on a laugh. "I feel...so much more welcomed here than I do at home. The Devildom feels more like my home now."
Diavolo felt as if his heart was going to burst. He pulled his hand away from theirs for a moment to pick up the papers he had placed at his side. MC looked at them quizzically, before furrowing their brows as they looked him in his golden eyes. He swallowed the lump in his throat before handing them over to MC.
"I know I have asked a lot of you this year, forcing you here to begin with; but I have one more thing to ask of you. This is an agreement I would like you to sign..."
They stared at him for a few moments before looking over the papers, brows slowly beginning to rise as they finished reading it over. "An ambassador? For the Human Realm?"
He nodded, smiling hopefully. "You would be allowed to live in the Devildom as a human ambassador, and would visit the Human Realm along side me when we need to attend meetings. It would give you a reason to...permanently stay here. That is, if you would agree to it."
Their mouth was slacked open a bit as they looked between him and the document. He felt the twinge of fear in the pit of his stomach, worried they were going to decline, until he was tackled by MC, wrapping their arms tightly around his neck in a gripping hug.
"Yes! I would love more than anything to do this! Dia, this makes me so happy!" They just as quickly pulled away from the hug, dashing over to his desk to grab up his quill, and sign the document immediately.
He couldn't help the deep laugh that escaped him, as he stood next to them, taking the document from them once signed and placing it on his desk. "Thank you for agreeing to this, MC. It makes me incredibly happy that I can count on you to help me further things here in the Devildom."
He stepped up to them once more, taking their hands in his. His face became rather serious as he let out another sigh. "But, I have to admit I lied to you." They startled, concern all over their features. He continued, "I actually have one more thing to ask of you."
He pulled them closer, a hand coming up to cup their cheek and his thumb brushed across their bottom lip. He watched the flush form in their cheeks, and he felt his lips curl into a soft smile. "I would give anything to have you by my side, MC. But as my partner, my love, not just the ambassador to the Human Realm. I am in love with you, MC."
Their eyes widened once more, darting all over his features as if searching for a hint of this being another tease. But when they sensed only the seriousness of his words, their features softened and they returned his smile. "I love you too, Diavolo. I have...for a very long time it seems."
He whispered their name softly before leaning forward and pressing his lips to theirs. One hand continued to cup their cheek as the other splayed against their lower back, pulling them close to his chest. They pulled away from each other, both breathing heavily as their noses touched. MC gave an airy laugh as their hand came up to brush his dark red bangs from his eyes.
"I never though the Demon Prince, future Ruler of the Devildom, would be interested in a mere human."
He chuckled, brushing his lips against theirs once more, as he wrapped his arms tightly and possessively around their waist.
"Well the Three Realms are full of absolute surprises, wouldn't you agree?"
---
First Date with Diavolo
He would be nervous like a teenager going out for the first time, worried and wanting to make sure everything was perfect for you
He will take you to all his favorite spots in the Devildom, telling you all the stories he has about each one specifically, and hoping to make a few more with you there
There is a large garden towards the outskirts of the Devildom, and he takes you there to see the are flowers that only grow there, sharing his knowledge about them all with you
Will take you shopping as well and buy you a brand new outfit plus some new jewelry if you are into it; he will not take no for an answer lol
Will take you the carnival towards the center of the Devildom, and play as many games as he can to win you all the plushies and gifts he can get for you
Loves the alone time with you on the Ferris wheel and pulls you close when you are both at the very top, overlooking how beautiful his kingdom looks from way up high
If you allow him to, he will kiss you there, holding you close and tight
When the outing for the date is coming to an end, he will actually escort you back to the castle, where Barbatos has fixed dinner for you both; dishes from the Human Realm that he knew you would enjoy
Expect to be taken to his balcony where he will have a record player set up to have romantic music playing for the two of you, as he asks you to dance right there on the balcony
He'll pull you close and shower you with compliments, and even kisses especially
Once he knows you must head home, he will transform into his demon form and fly you to the House of Lamentation, letting you cuddle against his chest as he carries you, hoping you enjoy the view of the Devildom from his arms

the added songxiao scenes in cql kind of crack me up because jc is so mad through them. wwx brags about night hunting with lwj even though they're from different sects? jc starts fuming and tells him to never come back home. wwx talks to xxc about bssr? jc looks like he's about to burst into tears. jc can't stand the thought of wwx being anything but his emotional support shixiong.
JC is such a fucking baby about the added songxiao scenes. “Waaaaaaaaah, WWX has met people who are actually nice to him, he’s going to leave me for a life that makes him happy, how dare he! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah!” He’s just throwing a fit every time WWX shows any sort of interest in anyone. And CQL really turns that up to eleven; you’re right, WWX asks his shishu about his mother’s master (...I’m sure there’s a term for that but I don’t know it) and JC looks like he’s about to cry, like WWX wanting to know about something his mother would’ve told him if she’d lived is an outright betrayal. Hey, maybe JC wouldn’t worry so much about WWX leaving if he gave him literally any reason to stay! There’s a thought!

“Arc… Arc… vs Arc… and Nikos… ugh… why are there three of you?”  The combat professor scratched his head as he stared at the names on the board.  “Whatever…”
Jaune did not like where this was going, they had only been here for a few weeks but he’d seen just how good Pyrrha was.  Okay, well he could tell right away after her first fight with Nora.  He just kind of hoped they’d be together… ‘Not together together!  Just on the same team… right that’s what I meant!’  Yep he definitely didn’t think she was super darn awesome, or really pretty, or super badass or anything like that!  He also didn’t notice her well toned arms and legs when they were training, nope!  He’d never pay attention to things like that.
Of course… he couldn’t help but pass glances to her now and again, she was really awesome.  Though… he doubted he’d have a chance, and honestly he needed to concentrate on himself… right… he didn’t want a repeat of before.  Turning towards the professor he waited for the actual teams.
“Ugh, whatever, boys versus girls.”
Both Lie and him stopped, “Uh… sir, could we uh… could you reconsider?”
“No!  Now get your stuff and get up there!”
Both boys turned towards one another, “Oh no.”
Lie and him weren’t terrible by any means, heck they were in the upper half of the class!  But, well… Nora and Pyrrha were at the very top constantly competing for first place.  And there was talk about Pyrrha actually competing in the upcoming tournaments!  The trio had opted out of it, they didn’t really want the attention and honestly speaking they didn’t want to be in front of a crowd.
“Hurry up!”  Both boys sighed, relenting to their future domination. That was till they were both pulled into a powerful hug.
“Yes!  I can’t wait to fight!  It’s going to be a ton of fun!”
Jaune loved Nora, she was his wonderful sister after all.  But, well… he wasn’t sure he could agree with that last bit.  Though he didn’t really have the heart to deny her answer as she continued to squeeze the two boys together.
“Nora I think they get the point.”  Pyrrha’s gentle tone caught his ears.
“Okie dokie!”  Nora let them go at the behest of her, in her own words, besty better than the resty forever!  Honestly despite his obvious… not so obvious, crush on her, he was just happy that she got along with Nora.  Like he said he loved Nora, but she had a lot of energy, a lot of energy that caused a lot of people to think she was stupid or dumb, well they always got what was coming to them.
“Still, this should be a grand fight!”
“Right right!  Grand.”
“Yes… Grand.”  Lie’s response was far less enthusiastic than his own.  Both boys however gave way, once they gathered their things adjourning at the arena.  The girls had already been prepared, Pyrrha had her own specially made weapon.  “It seems they’re taking us seriously.”
“Yep… I wish they wouldn’t!”  Jaune didn’t like where this was going!  He had seriously thought about how they’d handle the dynamic duo, but every single idea and thought was always just crushed by overwhelming prowess and might.  “Well nothing left but to do it then ya?”
Lie simply nodded, they would have to take this one step at a time after all.
The moment they lined up with the girls the professor started the count down.
“Alright!  3...2...1… GO!”
Hopefully this wouldn’t be too terrible.
“This is terrible…”
A week earlier.
Charles couldn’t believe what they’d run into, he was starting to truly and fully believe that him and his wife were harbingers of doom… or at the very least ones that came in the aftermath of great destruction.
“Who would do this?  This wasn’t a grimm attack… they don’t just set fires to homes!”  Jeanne didn’t like this, not at all… they’d been on a mission when they’d seen the smoke rise into the air.  When they got to the small farm they’d found the home razed to the ground, if only they’d gotten here sooner!  She clenched her fist as the air around her began to warp, her aura flared wildly, the ground cracking beneath her feet.
“WAAAAAAAAAH!”
In an instant she cooled off, “Did you hear that?!”
“Yes!”  Both husband and wife turned towards one another, in an instant they were off, the ground cracking beneath their feet as they made their way towards the sound.
In an instant they found themselves in front of a Cellar, wasting no time they dug through the debris blocking their way.
“What…”  Once they’d opened the doors they’d found a young boy who appeared to be the same age as their twins.  “Oh god…”  Jeanne winced at the terrible wounds on his chest rising up to his neck.
“No… not again.  What do we do?”  Her husband’s words sunk in.
“We...  we have to take him… see if he has family?  Find out who he is…”
“P...please… help him…”  Their eyes snapped towards a younger woman.  They hadn’t noticed her before, but… but she wasn’t going to make it.  The clear indications of severe wounds present on her body, scars and gnashes… the seasoned hunters almost looked away.  “Please… he has… no one else…”
“Hold on don’t ta…”  Charles stopped as he drew closer, “...She’s dead.”
Once more they let the silence seep in, “We… we have to take him.”
Her husband stood there for a moment, “Alright…”
They would bury the woman, and they would take the young boy home with them.  The young man who they would later learn the name as Oscar Pines, the young man that would later be known as Oscar Pines Arc.
Jaune had been wrong, he had been terribly terribly wrong!  This was worse than terrible!  This had gone downright ugly!
His legs buckled at Nora’s powerful swing, the arena beneath his feet cracked.  “SERIOUSLY?!”  He knew that these things were supposed to be made of sturdier stuff, and he knew that if he hadn’t been pumping aura into this metal sheet of a shield it would have caved right in.
“AHAHAHAH!”  Her body was surging with dangerously high levels of electricity.
“Your semblance is so unfair!”
“Says the walking living aura generator!  Now on your knees my favorite minion!”
“NOPE NOPE NOPE!  LIE!”  In an instant Lie pulled himself away from trying to defend from Pyrrha, pumping his aura into his legs he dashed over towards his manic sister, his palm colliding with her waist sending her flying.  Unfortunately she was able to stop herself from getting ringed out by smashing her hammer into the ground beneath them.
Jaune’s hand swiped past Lie as he continued after Nora, in a single burst he’d filled his brother’s Aura up once more.  WIth a burst of strength his own Aura began to refill, only to stop a Pyrrha peppered him with dust rounds.
“Really Pyrrha?!”
“Sorry!  But I can’t let you do that!”  She was ever the fighter after all, so he knew she wouldn’t just let him recharge.
“Fine!”  Putting up his shield he dashed forward, allowing the bullets to graze past it or hit less important targets, like not his head.
Upon reaching her, he did what he did best, he attempted to ram his shield into her face.  Only for her to deftly avoid him, his shield flashed black as she attempted to nudge it away.
Ever since her fight with Nora, she’d apparently been using her semblance a lot more, taking the time to really practice with it.  Or at least that’s what she’d told them anyways.  Which was great and everything!  But it made her really frustrating to fight, so he did what he knew he could.  Pumping more aura into the shield he was able to overpower her attempt at control.
“You really do have a lot of aura!”  He would have blushed at the comment if not for her shield attempting to ram him into the face.
He didn’t have many options, he couldn’t really avoid it, he wasn’t exactly the fastest person, so once more he did what he thought he could.  “ACHA!”  With a might slam he hit her shield straight on with his empowered forehead causing her to pull back in surprise.
“Jaune!?”  Her worried tone was apparently warranted as that blow nearly knocked his lights out.  Aura could do a lot of things, but when he messed up, well sometimes his brain couldn’t really handle the rumbling.
“I’m okay!”  Straightening himself he attempted to swipe at her midsection, only for her to parry the blow using her blade.
“Good!”  In that moment he felt her aura wrap around his blade disarming him as her knee hit him straight in the gut.  Thankfully his Aura protected him, but that hadn’t been her goal.  In the moment that he instinctively buckled over she’d applied her aura instantly onto his shield and pushed him straight out of the ring.  “Sorry!”
To his surprise Lie had already been there waiting for him.  “Did she golf swing you?”
“She golf swung me…”
“Nikos and Arc win!”
The boys could hear the cheering from the crowd, their own egos slightly wounded as no one really had expected them to win, not even themselves!
But, well that didn’t matter in the end, “YOU GUYS DID AMAZING!”
Pink and Sapphire eyes glanced upwards, meeting emerald and turquoise.
“She’s right you know.  You had gotten our aura’s rather low.”
Both boys turned towards the monitor at the same time, they’d managed to get both Pyrrha and Nora down to about 60 percent.  That may have seemed like nothing, but well, when most people couldn’t drop them even a single percent?  It wasn’t a bad thing.  “Huh!  Hey look at that, we got you guys down another 2 percent this time.”  A part of him did want to have a little snark though.
“That we did.”
“Yeah!  You guys are improving!”  Nora pulled everyone into a tight hug, her arms wrapped affectionately around her family, Pyrrha included.
“I agree you’re both improving at a remarkable rate.”
Neither of the boys could really deny it, while it felt bad to lose, well… well at least they knew they were getting better and that wasn’t a bad thing.
“Alright… well how bout… we go get cleaned up and then we can go to Saph’s house.  We could have a sleep over?”  He turned towards Pyrrha, “If you can come of course!”
“Oh!  Yes, my parents should be fine with it.  They quite like your sister.”  Pyrrha’s warm smile caused his chest to feel oddly pained.  Right, gotta concentrate on getting better.
Pyrrha parted ways with them wanting to get ready and prepared for the oncoming sleepover.
Once they’d gotten home after getting ready, they’d noticed extra sounds coming from the living room.  “Saph?”
“MY BABIES!”  In an instant the three Arc siblings were pulled into one powerful hug.
“MOM!”  Nora was the only one to return the powerful hug meeting one with equal strength.
“Hey kids… we got something to tell you.”  As their mom dropped them they eyed a small figure behind them.  “Meet Oscar… Oscar Pine Arc, he’s your new little brother.”

First chapter preview:
Chapter 1
"Eff you! Eff me! Eff the world!" She shrieked with her lungs, hand pointed at the sky.
"I wanna hold guns and look cool in suits! I wanna be pardoned by university to become a boss! I wanna have a gang while playing background music!"
"IF I EVER REINCARNATE TO KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN, I'LL BECOME VONGOLA DECIMOOOOOOOO!"
Darkness enveloped her as she sunk deeper into the abyss, not knowing what was going on after that flash that blinded her eyes. Could it be isekai truck-kun? She scoffed at her own words, not believing a single thing that came out of her own thoughts. She felt a shuffle, then a thump as her whole world lifted in the air. Suddenly, a baby's cry chortled beside her, screaming.
What was going on? Was she being carried into some kind of ambulance? A hospital? Did she give birth-What? But she was still 19 years old and never touched a man's hand! The baby's cry grew louder, almost piercing her in the ears.
Was it even possible for her to remain conscious even though she couldn't open her eyes? She tried lifting her eyelids, but it remained glued shut, as if this impenetrable force was clamping down her eyes, telling her not to look.
A waft of air blew on her chest.
"[Papa! Look at them! Twins!]"
A woman's voice rang out loudly, but her tone was soft and melodic as the sounds of humans floated into her ears.
'...Japanese?'
"[Ah, but one isn't crying.]"
A man's voice rang out this time in front of her as she tried deciphering the words with all her experiences of watching anime for over 10 years. Crying? Did the man just say that 'one isn't crying?' Was he pointing to someone in the room?
She felt her whole world tip over before trying to flail, confusion ringing inside her mind before-
Slap!
"Waaaaaaaaah!"
'What the eff, bro?!'
She felt so sensitive-so...naked!
'Call my lawyer! I will sue you till you don't even have the freedom of speech! Lawyer! Lawyer!'
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalw!" She yelped her syllables that couldn't pop out of her mouth and tried again.
"Wawawawa-"
Something was weird. Very weird.
"[I think we've got ourselves a little weirdo from the get-go!]"
Her butt stung as she tried blinking her eyes, gasping twice and shaking her head to wake her up from this bad dream. Her vision stung the moment she did, lights blinding her as she screamed again, trying to bat away the light with her flimsy small fists. Through her blurry vision, she saw a man grinning from ear to ear before throwing her over his shoulder and patting her on the back. She humped, dry launching from the action as the woman's soft laughter rang from behind as her own eyes closed shut again.
What did she see? She didn't see clearly, but the world was so...colorful.
"[I think I have a name for this little weirdo already!]"
Name? What name? What the hell were these two strangers talking about? And why in the hell was she able to understand Japanese so clearly? And they messed up her pronouns-and-
She tried hard, fighting her clamped eyes, 'Almost there!'
"Sawada Isago! Golden dust for my career!"
Isago slammed his eyes open, blinking rapidly at the man who was now throwing his small body into the air, his golden-amber eyes completely dazzling Isago.
"Waah da dak."
His first words were swear words in English.
She stared absentmindedly out the front porch. No, he stared absentmindedly out the front porch this fine morning. The sky was bright blue while Isago glanced at the buzzing street of Namimori, a small town located at the edges of Japan. In the corner of his eyes, he saw a small bird land on one of the tree branches before someone tapped him on the shoulder.
"Isa..go! Let's play!" Tsuna smiled sweetly at his younger brother, holding up his teddy in one hand. They were at the young age of four, Tsuna being born just minutes earlier than Isago. They seemed like twins, but one preferred a shorter hairstyle than the other, and their hair was in different colours.
"Hm...sure! What do you want to play?" Isago answered like how a four-year-old should and pushed himself onto his feet. Tsuna squeezed his teddy, pondering a bit before tilting his head to the side.
Tsuna was exactly the same in the anime, with spiky brown hair and brown eyes that shone brightly in the sun, his soft features held more of some baby fat than what was portrayed in the graphics, but still, Tsuna resembled Vongola Primo.
'Definitely a descendant of the Vongola family,' Isago quirked his lips as Tsuna explained his game of hide and seek, except the purpose was to hide and find teddy.
"Sure!" Isago chirped, holding his hand out for the teddy. "I'll go first then, since you never do, Tsuna."
Tsuna beamed brightly at his younger brother, giving his teddy over before Isago pointed to a wall in the corner of the room and Tsuna plodded over, covering his eyes as he started to count down from 100. Isago smiled slightly, tip-toeing to the washroom and turning on the lights to hide the teddy behind the rows and rows of shampoo bottles in one of the cupboards.
Isago frowned a bit when he realized that he couldn't reach the board, placed the teddy on the table and walked to the toilet that was beside the sink. He stepped onto the toilet, using it as his stepping stone and slammed his small hands onto the table, heaving himself upwards. Snatching the teddy from the original spot, Isago opened the cupboard and organized the bottles as a coverup, arranging the bottles so that not even the ears of the brown toy were visible from an adult's point of view.
Isago stepped down the table, plopping quietly onto his feet before listening to the countdown from Tsuna's mouth at the number 40. Isago smiled carefully, closing the lights as his gold eyes flashed through the mirror once, and Isago made his way to Tsuna's bedroom. Mom was cooking in the kitchen and humming about dad's arrival today.
Isago had retained his father's golden eyes, and yet had a shade of mocha as his hair color. Neither dad nor mom had the hair color, but Nana assumed that it was because her predecessor's hair color was close to black in the past. In contrast to Tsuna's spiky hair, Isago had flatter hair and was long, to the point that it was possible to tie it into a semi-ponytail. He had bangs covering the front in a slanted way, almost completely contrasting to Tsuna's cute and fluffy hair. Well, not that it mattered to Isago.
What was concerning to Isago, was that he was born as a boy.
"Ready or not, here I come!"
Isago heard Tsuna call from the bottom of the stairs before his small footsteps plattered onto the wood. Isago stared momentarily at the door before purposefully closing it and plopping down on Tsuna's bed. The bedsheets ruffled, crinkling a bit and Isago stared at his own crotch.
What the heck, this was so weird to have. It was so tiring to constantly have a thing dangling in between his legs. Even though it didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable, this new addition was a very mind-blowing...experience. Manspreading was also a new thing.
"Isago…?" Tsuna's face peeped into his own room and giggled before skipping over to his brother. "You must have placed teddy here!"
"I don't know," Isago replied with a small smirk. "Why don't you try and find it?"
"Teddy! Teddy!" Tsuna called cutely as if the bear was able to reply back to him.
"Tsuna, if you can find it then I'll ask mom to make your favourite Salisbury steak that she only makes when dad comes home!" Isago called as Tsuna's eyes fired up intensely.
"Steak! Steak! Steak!" Tsuna batted his fists on his crouched knees and started to chant it like some kind of song. Joy could be seen all over his face as he rustled his piles of stuff in the closet, then turned over to his desk and started rummaging in the drawers.
"Steak, steak, steaky, steak-"
Isago smiled secretly, knowing that Tsuna had no knowledge of dad coming home today. Honestly, Isago didn't know what to describe his dad. A good dad? No, he left his wife basically widowed from the moment they were born. A bad dad? You couldn't say that either.
Then again, mama never worked, so it was plausible to think that the house was bought and supplied with money from dad every year. Not to mention that the house was quite large for a family of three. Dad was probably also preparing the house to be the main hideout for the future Vongola.
"Iemitsu Sawada, huh?" Isago murmured his dad's name under his lips.
There was a reason why his dad stationed his family near the unknown town of Namimori. It was probably in order to protect them from the mafia. So in the end, was he a good dad? Isago watched Tsuna's fluffy hair swish in the lights as the sound of tires echoed into the neighborhood.
Isago lifted his eyebrows at the sound, turning his head to Tsuna's open window to see a short black car parked a few meters away from the Sawada residence. Isago stood up slowly, walking towards the window and hopped onto a small step box and leaned on the wall, crossing his arms together as he peered outside.
"Tsuna, let's rank this game harder. You have exactly 100 seconds like the countdown to find your teddy, or else the promise is off," Isago turned to Tsuna who's eyes widened like saucers, gasping before throwing his hands into the depths of his drawers.
"That's not fair, Isago!" The boy whimpered as Isago started to count the numbers from 100, forcing the small boy to sweat. Inside, Isago spotted a blond head popping out of the driver's seat.
The man was wearing orange overalls that were only pulled onto his waist. His dirty sweatshirt was worn in a fashion that showed his armpit hair clearly even from far away. The sight was disgusting.
"Men," Isago made a face, recognizing that it was his father. "66...67...68...69…"
"Isago! Slow down!" Tsuna wailed and rummaged through his toy box, tears streaming down his face at the decreasing numbers. Iemitsu pulled a construction hat out of the front side, then walked to the passenger's seat, opening the door to reveal another man wearing a blue vacation shirt with pink flowers on it.
The man stepped out of the car, smiling widely at his assistant who passed him a straw hat. As if the man noticed, his eyes flashed to the window, meeting the gaze of Isago. There was curiosity and wonder that passed through the male's eyes, but then greeted the child by lifting his hat and giving a salute which Isago returned with a polite nod.
'Vongola ninth,' Isago addressed the man quickly, curling his lips at the status before turning back to Tsuna, the numbers ending with the last count of zero.
"Isaaaagoo!" Tsuna sobbed into his long-sleeved sweater, sniffing as the sleeve soaked up his snot. "I couldn't find it-I'm sorry!"
Isago's eyes softened at the small boy, hopping down from the stepping box before crouching next to Tsuna who was on his knees.
"Tsuna, Tsuna, why are you sorry?" Isago patted Tsuna on the shoulders. Tsuna threw his arm down, staring at Isago who had a soft smile on his face.
"Be-because Isago's favorite...also steak…" the young boy blew his wet cheeks and Isago chuckled, pulling his brother into a large hug. That was not exactly true, Isago's favourite was sweet parfaits rather than savory main course meals, but Nana had never brought the two to a sweets cafe so Isago had made up his preferences to match Tsuna's.
"How about this, I'll magically transform the steak onto the table if you promise me one thing," Isago patted Tsuna who blew into his shoulder. Momentarily, Isago made a face of disgust, but once thinking that they were from the same blood, a smile was forcefully plastered onto his soft features.
Tsuna also realized his own misdoings, instantly freezing before wiping his own sleeve on Isago's shoulder, trying to correct the snot, only to make it smear even wider on the hoodie.
"I'll have to change my clothes," Isago sighed before pushing Tsuna away and walking to his own room. Tsuna followed like an abandoned puppy. His two fingers fiddled as he watched Isago pull his T-shirt off, and grabbed a random sweater before pulling it over his head.
"Mm sorry Isago…" Tsuna trailed off, staring guilty on the ground as Isago's head emerged out. "I will promise anything that you want! Forever!"
'What a dangerous promise, Tsuna,' Isago's eyes glimmered before turning towards his brother. The shadows in his room casted upon Isago's face as his grin widened almost too maliciously.
"Then promise me Tsuna, no matter what the circumstance you must not harm me. If you do, then our relationship as brothers are over." Isago's hair fell over his eyes as he brushed it back, getting a clear look at the boy's small face.
"Harm?" Tsuna tilted his head curiously at the word, repeating to make sure he pronounced it correctly. "What's that?"
"It means that I will be gone from your life forever, Tsuna," Isago's voice deepen with glee at the horror that flashed through the boy's face. Tsuna's hands instantly clutched the sides of his shorts, shaking his head furiously.
"I will never harm you! I will never! Never!"
"Good," Isago walked closer to his dear brother, jerking his thumb under Tsuna's teary eyes. The young boy looked fragile and broken at Isago's words, almost as if he couldn't imagine living without Isago.
"Because I love you so much that it may serve as a double-edged sword to both of us," Isago gave little Tsuna a small peck on his cheeks, smirking at Tsuna's pouting face as his fingers clutched the edges of Isago's sweater.
"I wove you too," Tsuna buried his face into his brother's sweater, murmuring the phrase until the front door was pushed open and mama's clear voice rang through the house, calling the two boys down.
It was true, Tsuna was a precious little brother to Isago, even if Tsuna was legally the older one. But that didn't matter in front of power. If Tsuna stood in the way of succession, then Isago would cut off Tsuna's arms and legs to prevent Tsuna from overtaking the throne. That was how cold-hearted Isago was.
But then again, was Isago able to do it?
That's why Isago would give Tsuna the choice. He would not harm Tsuna until his own brother decided that Isago was a threat to the family and his life. He would let Tsuna break their relationship, and make him wallow in despair. As long as Tsuna loved him, Isago would let him go. But if Tsuna disobeyed, then everything will be over.
"Come on, brother," Isago gestured towards the door, stepping forward with Tsuna holding him. When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Iemitsu was grinning at both boys, arms extended.
"Weirdo Isago! TsunaTsuna! Papa is back home!"
The two boys huddled over to their papa, Tsuna waddling towards him while Isago was pulled into a large embrace, dad's hand ruffling in his hair as Isago grinned at the man. The smell of sweat and tobacco filled Isago's nostrils, instantly making him suppress a sour face at his own father. Mama giggled at the family reunion while Isago's eyes trailed to her, gesturing for a group hug.
"Oh, dear!" Mama threw herself into the group hug and Iemitsu kissed her sloppily on the cheeks, rubbing her face with fondness. It was then Tsuna noticed a stranger behind dad, smiling sweetly at the family after Tsuna opened his mouth with quivering fear.
"Oh, Tsuna! Don't worry, this is Timoteo-" Dad looked over at the grandfather figure, releasing all of us as he gestured politely at the man. "-My boss."
"Welcome!" Nana grinned, lowering her body into a 90-degree bow. "Thank you for taking care of my husband all this time!"
Isago glanced towards his mom, then followed, repeating the same words of thanks. Tsuna only stood there, confused and not knowing what to do and hid behind his mother, clutching her apron.
"Tsuna!" Mom bickered with a sigh but smiled soon afterwards. She patted me on the head as a 'good job' before apologizing for her son's imprudence.
"That isn't a problem," Timoteo said, softening his eyes at us before crouching down to our eye level. "I have to thank you for having such a wonderful father that I can trust."
'Of course, you're literally naming his son as successor,' Isago thought bitterly before pulling Tsuna out from behind mom. 'So who is it going to be? Tsuna, or me?'
Vongola ninth had to choose between the two of them because they were the only ones that would be left in the Vongola bloodline. If what Isago remembered was correct, there was more than one successor to the Vongola line, but they all died, which left Tsuna being the only one that could inherit the family.
Tsuna's hand started to quake before Isago squeezed it reassuringly, giving him a small nudge. Tsuna was still hesitating so Isago started first.
"I'm Isago, this is Tsuna, my older brother!" He deliberately said, lowering his head as Tsuna, this time, followed his younger brother's lead.
"Oh, he's the older one, huh?" Timoteo turned his gentle gaze towards the older brother and nodded. Isago pleaded that they were going to leave the throne of successor to the worthy, not the older. Isago was going to prove himself worthy, prove himself, to be a better leader than his brother.
Tsuna was not suited as a leader, maybe in the long run of taking care of his family members, yes, but Isago was more of a leader in the expanding and influential way.
'Give the role of successor to me, and I will hold Vongola to its glory. I will make Vongola the strongest in history, and it will flourish more than the past ten generations combined.'
Isago wanted the Vongola position. He wanted it desperately.
As if Timoteo could hear Isago's thoughts, the grandfather's eyes turned to the younger sibling, staring at him hard. Isago didn't move his eyes, only stared back and tried to convey the message through his gaze.
'Give it to me, I want it. I need it.'
Timoteo's gaze deepened, opening his mouth to say something as conflict passed through his face, then clamped his mouth shut. Iemitsu, sensing that something was sort of amidst, invited his boss into the house, telling the group that he was famished. Nana gasped, pardoning her forgetfulness before guiding the guest to the table.
Isago let go of the breath he held inside, looking towards Tsuna who was staring at the grandfather.

HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAYYYY to one of my coolest and bestest friends!! <333
I really wanted to write something based on your Soriel Inktober drawings, so this was inspired by day 18 - wine and mini pizzas! (and it…somehow came out a bit more angst than I thought? I’m sorry?? >.>;; ) I hope you like it and have an absolutely wonderful and fabulous birthday!!! ^w^
***
The hilarious thing is, most people probably expect dinner with the queen to be some kind of classy affair.
“No, no!” Toriel insists, laughing so much she looks like she’s about to fall off her chair as she waves the sole survivor of the family-sized mini pizza pack semi-threateningly in Sans’ direction. “I will get it in this time! Just open your mouth a little wider!”
“Tori, I don’t think it’s gonna go any.” Sans rubs at his tomato-splattered, slightly sore jaw - it hasn’t had such a workout since his last burger-eating contest at Grillby’s, but it’s still worth it. “Might be about to fall to pizzas over here.”
“But I was getting closer!” She takes another generous slurp from her wine glass with one hand and beckons him closer with the other. “Wait, I know - come over here. For the memory of his fallen comrades, we shall not let this one go to waste!”
Toriel holds out the pizza invitingly as Sans shuffles his chair across the floor next to her; she’s not so much throwing as literally feeding it to him now, but he’s not objecting, taking the opportunity to slyly nip at the tips of her fingers to make her giggle more.
“There you go! That’s a good Sansy,” she sing-songs, the way Bun always does, and Sans winces at the name, but he doubts he could hold back the grin almost splitting his skull in two even if his bone structure would let him; she’s almost unfairly adorable like this, all soft and flushed and giggly, a rare moment when she actually gets to let her fur down. Also, he’s discovering, a really touchy drunk, though he’s not making much effort to resist as she slides her paws over his shoulders to pull him half into her lap, hugging him to her almost possessively. “Thank you.”
He chuckles, and can’t resist tugging affectionately at one of her long ears as they hang down over either side of his skull. “S’no big, Tori. I get a lot worse thrown at me most days.”
She snorts softly, her warm breath tickling the top of his skull, but then draws back a little, shifting positions so they’re eye-to-socket. “I do not mean for that. For - for everything. For protecting Frisk. For helping us all here. For staying with me…”
Her voice is suddenly thick with emotion, her eyes soft and tender and glistening with gratitude and - oh no, Sans isn’t nearly drunk enough to handle this. Not being manhandled onto Toriel’s lap - if he’s honest with himself, and he tries not to be, he’s probably a little too comfortable right where he is. But her looking at him like he’s some big hero, like he is the stars they’ve all dreamed of seeing for so long - it’s too much, it makes his soul ache, how wonderful she is and how much he doesn’t deserve it. She doesn’t know the half of what he’s done - what he hasn’t done, and how many times he hasn’t done it.
But she can’t know about the other times - those eyes, those beautiful eyes, they’ve already seen enough pain and suffering for infinite timelines. Just like all those times, he has to smile and shrug it off, pretend he doesn’t care as if, the infinitieth time, it gets any easier.
“Tori, c’mon, you don’t have to thank me for that. I mean, what kind of bonehead wouldn’t wanna stay with you?”
She gives him a grateful squeeze, but her smile slips for a moment, becoming more melancholy. “Many. Many have chosen to leave - and for that, I cannot blame them. But I always hoped, most of all, that you would stay. And perhaps even that someday, I would have the chance to…” Her tone lowers to a sultry purr as her hands slide down from his shoulders to slip under his hoodie, ghosting along his lower ribs, “show you how much I truly appreciate you.”
“Uhhh.” That has a different effect on Sans’ soul entirely, practically somersaulting out of his ribcage as Toriel nuzzles the back of his skull. “That’s, I mean, you don’t, I’m not - not that I - uh…” He’s a stuttering, hopeless mess, cheekbones blazing cyan and every molecule of his magic just wanting to melt into her touch, and yet - they can’t, he can’t let it happen like this. It’s Toriel, and she deserves so much better than some drunken…thing she’s probably going to regret in the morning - or not remember at all. She deserves so much better than Sans. “What I mean is - it’s getting kinda late, and it’s been great but y’know, I should probably go home and…shower.” It’s a half-legit excuse, at least, though he’s tempted to leave the remains of the dearly departed pizzas splattered all over his clothes and most of his skull at least long enough to get a few “cheesy” cracks in before Papyrus pops a joint.
“Ah.” He feels Toriel stiffen, and the loss of her warmth as she takes her paws off him is as immediate as Sans’ pang of regret as he wonders, for a moment, if maybe she’s not quite as drunk as she’s pretending to be. “Of course - my apologies for keeping you. Though I must confess, it is a little unsettling when you are the sensible one.”
At least she’s smiling again, soft and fond and with just the slightest hint of longing that’s a little painful to think about, even if it’s just the wine talking - so he won’t, grinning and winking back at her like everything’s normal. “Hey, you can’t spell sansible without Sans, am I right?”
“Provided one’s spelling is entirely nonsansical, then yes.”
They both laugh, and it’s a familiar, comforting feeling, like they’re back on safer ground as Sans moves back to his own chair and Toriel stands up, dusting stray pizza crumbs from her dress. “Perhaps going to bed would be a wise suggestion for the both of us. But I do hope that we might be able to - do this again sometime?”
She sounds uncharacteristically hesitant for a moment - almost shy - but her smile bright and hopeful as ever, and realistically, even if he’d been the kind of bonehead to want to say no, Sans never stood a chance.
“Are you kidding? We’re so doing this again - you owe me, like, twenty pizzas,” he informs her, failing at exasperation almost as much as Toriel does at looking apologetic when she giggles guiltily. “Also, next time, it’s gonna be your turn to catch.”
Her face lights up, relief as much as mischief written across her features as she nods vigorously. “Oh, yes, absolutely! My body, as I believe the youth say, is ready.”
Toriel winks, and Sans’ soul might do another triple flip jump, but it’s okay because she’s happy, and they’re still good buds, and that, he’s almost drunk enough to convince himself, is all he needs. It’s enough to see her smile, to hear her laugh, to let her assault him with pizza pockets as many nights as she wants because it’s still the best he’s eaten, the hardest he’s laughed, the safest and the most real he’s felt in too many timelines to remember.
For now, what they have - whatever they are - it’s enough.

Tae-Woo says this behavior is unsightly, but Han-Dae reminds him he, too, cried when he saw Hak during the fort battle. Hak asks where Mundok is. Gramps stayed at Fuuga to protect the city. Then Han-Dae wonders where Yona is... did they have a fight or something?
Voldo: Not at all. It’s quite the opposite, actually...
Hak: You don’t need to explain that.
Voldo: She’s your lover, there’s no need to be shy about it...
Hak: We’re not lovers.
Voldo: What?!!! You’re not lovers...?! Then what was... that...?
Hak: *That’s what I’d like to know!* Anyway, don’t tell them anything for now. They’d fuss over it.
Tae-Woo and Han-Dae still heard “lovers” and start bothering Hak about it, wondering if he made a move on the Princess. The Shin soldiers are like “what the hell is this?”, then the captain, Dai, recognize Voldo as one of the 5 Stars. Hak notices he’s quite famous, and Voldo tells him the 5 Stars are revered as the best fighters and have quite a number of followers.
The soldiers want to know why Voldo is with people from Kouka. They heard a rumor that he was siding with Tao. Voldo explains about Tao trying to negotiate with reliable persons from Kouka to achieve peace. The soldiers say Tao doesn’t know anything, she doesn’t see how cowardly and cunning Kouka is.
Hak steps in and agrees with them: King Soo-Won can’t be trusted. He won’t hesitate to use cowardly methods to achieve his goals. But he’s not swayed by piety (towards the gods) and he doesn’t discriminate. He won’t start a war just so he can oppress them. Tae-Woo notices how Hak is basically telling them to believe in Soo-Won.
Voldo tells the Shin soldiers about Soo-Won’s army of 20000 men, and Kouka’s princess trying to stop/delay them. War breaking out or not also depends on her negotiations, as she promised Kouren. He suggests they confirm it with Kouren if they don’t trust him. Hak adds the Wind tribe is just a bunch of silly countrymen so there’s no need to be so tense around them when the war hasn’t even started yet.
In Hiryuu castle, Joo-Doh (?) asks Soo-Won if he really did stop his attack on Shin. The King explains he has to send reinforcement to the Fire tribe since they lit the beacon fire. The Sky tribe won’t be able to go to Shin for a while. Kye-Sook says they are in the process of confirming whether Sen province was really invaded or not. Soo-Won seems bothered that he has to hold back on his original plan.
Joo-Doh: Then are you postponing things with Shin?
Soo-Won: ...I can’t do that.
In Kuuto, Min-Soo steps out of Yona’s carriage and tells her he’ll go back to his castle duties now. She thanks him. The driver confirms with her that they’ll head to Sansan next. Argila says Soo-Won’s troops won’t come now so it’s probably alright to go back to Fuuga with Hak.
Yona is deep in thoughts. Now that the war is delayed, will Kouren and Soo-Won be able to reach an agreement? Is it really alright to let things as is and think everything will be fine now that the Sky tribe can’t move? Especially when the king was in such a rush to send them to Sansan?
Tumblr media
The entire Wind tribe gathered around Hak to share a meal after it stopped raining. Friendly Han-Dae brings a roast turkey to the Shin soldiers and explains their campsite is all muddy so they’re having a banquet here right at the border. The turkey is to apologize for the noise.
A Wind tribe girl asks Hak if he’ll go back to Fuuga after that, and other people are calling him too. He pretty much ignores them. It’s been 4 days and the Sky tribe hasn’t come, which means Yona’s plan was likely successful. In that case, he must hurry and go back to her.
Yotaka and Mizari arrive at the campsite. Yotaka takes in all the soldiers from Kouka, and spots Hak and Voldo among them. He starts attacking them. He expected Kouka to be at their border before the war started, but he didn’t expect to see Voldo too. So he intends to rise against Kouren by siding with Kouka?
Voldo tries to explain. If Shin goes against Kouka, all that will be left of it after the war will be ashes. Lady Kouren wants to go to war fully intending to perish alongside her people!
Tumblr media
The Shin soldiers began doubting Yotaka. Surely they can’t lose the war if Yotaka is fighting with them...? Voldo rubs it in: without Argila, the strongest of all 5 Stars, and against Hak here, how can they hope to win?
Apparently the soldiers didn’t know Argila sided against them too. Voldo adds that Kouka also has people with tremendous strength called the four dragons. Yotaka is like, “ah, the ones who caused a ruckus in town the other day...”.
Captain Dai says they weren’t that strong. They were no match for Lord Yotaka. The citizens were just exaggerating. In the end, they were just wan men.
Voldo replies they were trying to prevent war and protect them so they didn’t fight back. Suddenly... “Waaaaaaaaah!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yotaka hits him. How can Mizari not distinguish between right or wrong?! If he does that... *Ayame yells at him to get out of her way as she runs to the injured Shin soldiers.*
Yotaka: Kouka woman! Who gave you permission to cross into our territory?!
Ayame: These people could die! Aren’t they your companions?! Who cares about freaking borders in this situation, you idiot?!
She asks Han-Dae to bring her her first-aid kit (looks like she’s some kind or nurse, or is knowledgeable in medicine like Yoon). Others from the Wind tribe join her to help save the wounded.
The next page is dialogue from (probably) the Shin soldiers, saying the 2 wounded will be okay thanks to Kouka’s help. The Wind tribe is still watching over them for the night. The Shin soldiers are terrified of what Mizari did. Even Yotaka didn’t really care for the injured men. Are they really Shin’s prized 5 Stars? Did Kouren really allow such dangerous men into the 5 Stars? Is she truly worthy of becoming Shin’s ruler?
In Kouren’s mansion, Mizari is getting an earful. Neguro is shouting at him: how could he strike down his own allies before the war even started? His actions were pretty much equivalent to smearing Lady Kouren’s face with mud!
They let him do as he pleased up until now, but this time he will be severely punished. Kouren wants to know why Mizari did that. Did he pity the dragons as he was caring for them?
Mizari: Lady Kouren... Did I do something wrong?
Neguro: You...!
Mizari: But those soldiers were so weak! If we were to send them on the battlefield, they’d die in the blink of an eye. So it doesn’t really change anything to kill them now. No matter how many they are, they will die without even getting a chance to bring down a Kouka soldier or to shield you from harm. That’s the kind of war that’s about to begin, right? Weak people living or dying now... it’s all the same in the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hisa’s thoughts on the chapter:
Well, we knew Mizari was a bit crazy, but now we’ve got confirmation he’s absolutely psycho! Who let him in the 5 Stars? I mean, I don’t even want to dismiss it as “it’s not his fault, he’s a lost child who wants nothing but to repay Kouren her kindness for taking him in”. Though I do wonder what kind of life he led before joining her...
Soo-Won’s bothered by the unforeseen delay in his attack against Shin. I don’t really know if it’s because he can sense Yona is behind it, or if it’s because he couldn’t tick off that war on his to-do list and move on to the next thing before... something happens? Anyway, it’s not like he’ll let that fake Kai invasion delay him for long. As Yona suspects, he’s probably already taken measures to have the Water tribe join the Wind tribe instead. I’m not even sure he’ll send the Sky tribe to the north. And now I’m left wondering if Gulfan can act as a homing pigeon too XD
Looks like Kouren’s soldiers are about to turn against her. I really hope they don’t, or it’ll feel like Soo-Jin & the Fire tribe all over again. We know Kouren is desperate and even resorted to having children enlist in her army, but I was lowkey hoping she’d have some hidden resources to oppose and fight Kouka on equal terms. I don’t want an easy victory for Soo-Won, and I certainly don’t want Kouren launching a suicide attack with her soldiers on the battlefield. That said, it could just be Voldo’s ploy to lower the soldiers’ morale and he actually has no clue what Kouren will do.
