I didn't know that the anxiety trait gave colonists panic attacks. Aw, poor Vu. At least Candlelight was there to help calm her down.

Irwin wants everyone in the colony to have a good time, which is all good and well, except that the food we're binging on is only edible by about three colonists. Everyone else is gonna be living off tea and coffee for two days.

We all headed down to the riverside for the feast, which was very eventful and lovely (well, lovely for some people- Candlelight couldn't walk for a few days, but that's what she gets for getting into a fight with someone who is actually capable of melee combat).

Why does nobody want to take the only colonist I actively dislike?? I don't want to deliberately accidentally get him killed, but it's getting to the point where I think it might be my only option...

she says he won't let her get a dog, which is fine, because they're in an apartment, and that's the kind of thing people say about their partners. he won't let me get a dog. and you're at a dinner party and you tilt your head a little to the side just like that dog he won't let her get, because is this the thing that's going to upset you? you don't know every corner of their relationship, she could be joking, they could have had so many healthy conversations about the dog, right, and maybe she's not letting herself get the dog because of money and time and whatever. but, like, she did say let

and she wants to move away from his hometown and he wants to stay and then he tells you with a wink and a conspiratorial stage whisper don't worry i'll convince her and she laughs about it - so clearly this is something they laugh about. but you do just stand there and stare at him like what the fuck, man. you can't say what you want to say which is why do you get the final say on everything because they're both obviously aware of the other person's stance on this and have obviously had private conversations about it and what are you going to do about it except make a scene and then he'll be mad at you and call you one of those bitches behind your back and she'll cut you off, which is a loss that doesn't feel worth it just because he makes you a little skeeved out every 3rd comment

and they both agree he just isn't the type to get flowers which is fine because everyone shows love differently, and are you really gonna judge someone based on their sense of individual relationship responsibility? maybe he's constantly cleaning her car and writing her poems and making her furniture or something. maybe she doesn't even like flowers and this is perfect, actually. and no you couldn't date him, obviously, ew; but like, she tells you she's happy. you almost send her a tiktok that says don't be 25 and the cool girl that doesn't need anything, you'll hate not getting flowers at 30, but that's like, starting drama & you shouldn't start drama needlessly.

and you're a little older than her but not so much older you can pull the whole trust me on this one babe thing and besides that wouldn't have worked anyway (when does it ever) and besides you have trauma so you and your therapist both agree that you're always looking for a problem even when there isn't one. and you tell yourself that just because you see them for 15 minutes every month does not mean you can identify every single red flag based on a single shitty half-joking(?) comment

and besides, what are you going to do? she says i actually wanted another stand mixer but thankfully he stops me when i'm about to spend too much money and you're standing there like are you okay? is this normal? is this just something people say? and again - what are you going to do?

to your therapist you try to language it - it's not, like, any of my business. but sometimes, doesn't it feel like - you should do something. there's got to be something, right? you've tried dropping little hints but they sail right through and you've tried having a single serious conversation and she got upset because why does it matter to you, yes it's different but we're happy, it doesn't need to make sense to you and you're like. really unwilling to push a boundary about it anymore; because the truth is that you know logically it shouldn't matter to you, as long as both parties are happy.

and besides, you've been wrong before. it's just... like, every time you see them both, something else happens, some kind of shiver down your spine like do you even hear each other when you talk. it's their strange, bickering orbit. just the way he's on his phone through dinner or watching sports instead of helping in the kitchen or, fuck, another one of these little throwaway comments he makes about we'll see about that, babe. she laughs when he calls her passions stupid shit and meanwhile she gets him tickets to see the knicks and he tells you well at least she's smart about something and still! it's none of your business.

I am full fucking steam ahead with the arranged marriage fic this week and having a blast. It's an absolute anachronism stew of, like: fantasy geography! but also a default assumption of sexuality in this world being bi/pan/mspec rather than straight! but also arranged marriages! but also internet!—world-building is my nemesis so we are one hundred percent just rolling with it, okay? Okay.

“Good afternoon, Queen Mary,” he says, rehearsed and careful. There’s a time and a place for his usual brand of irreverence, and even Alex knows this isn’t it. “Your kingdom has offered me such a warm welcome.” “Yes, they have.” Mary doesn’t exactly seem thrilled about that, which is rude. Alex is a fucking catch, actually. “It would appear that my people are excited for this wedding to go ahead. But are you? Does the prospect of finally being married to my grandson please you?” And how the fuck is Alex meant to answer such a direct question without kicking off a whole international incident? He can’t tell the truth, but neither can he bring himself to say what he knows she wants to hear. After a long, terrifying pause in which Alex is sure the entirety of both their families are staring at him, waiting for a response, he finally manages: “Our betrothal has been overlong, Your Majesty. I will be pleased to make Windsor my new home.” Mary purses her lips. “Indeed,” is all she says in reply, a clear dismissal and a sign for the receiving line to keep moving.

No problem whatsoever! Sorry it took a while, those were a lot of characters! But it's okay!

Batter, Elsen and Guardians with a Cyberpunk Cyborg Reader

Batter:

The second Batter looks at you he will be in awe. While he is not a stranger to machinery, that in the OFF world is rather primitive in comparison to what you have on your body alone. He doesn’t mean to be rude, but he stares because it’s something new and fascinating.

When you tell him about your machine and robotic parts, he will be enthralled. While he doesn’t know what most of what you’re telling him means, he will still take mental notes to remember everything you said. Your capabilities, your strengths and weaknesses. Deep down, he wants to know what your cyberparts feel like, and what it feels like to be a cyborg at all.

He really likes your aesthetic, it truly makes you seem like something out of this world. He’ll see you as a being from a far better and stronger world, one that isn’t nearly as corrupted as his. You were partially made of metal, and metal is known to be pure. It’s one of the important elements, the first among four.

To some degree, even if he doesn’t know it, seeing you being this progressive makes him feel a bit safer, even if you’re not a fighter in the slightest. It gives Batter a sense of being guided by someone who has seen both past and future and knows exactly where to go, even if you’re more on the goofy side. It’s just a feeling he can’t shake off.

Elsen:

At first they’re gonna be a bit terrified, seeing something so unlike them, so modern. Were you dangerous? What could you do? Were you here to cause even more damage among all the chaos that already befell these lands? Even so, they wouldn’t really say anything at first, silently watching your every move instead. Despite it, your colours somehow did draw them in. You were so incredibly pretty and interesting to look at.

And when they realised you were on their side instead of against them, one would finally muster up the courage to talk to you, asking questions about what you are. Gradually, more and more would approach you, carefully touching your metallic parts, trying to figure out how they worked. Apprehensive as ever, but they’ll warm up to you.

And when they see how strong you are, they’ll ask if you have any special powers as well. If you do, then you can show them and watch their tiny faces light up with wonder. But even if the only thing you can do is emit a bit of light they’ll be excited. You’ll have a horde of them surrounding you at all times.

Like Batter, it makes them feel safe, knowing you’re more advanced than them makes it seem like you know what you’re doing. Your capabilities and knowledge make you seem like a higher being to them as well, but not as much as it does to Batter.

Dedan:

Dedan thinks you’d be a perfect worker with how strong you look. You could do any hard physical labour with ease in his mind, even if that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. While he will scoff if you turn down his demands to work in the smoke mines, once he sees your purifying capabilities, he’ll let you work as his assistant inspector.

He’s not one to waste too much time with asking you questions regarding your body and how it works, what’s important is the fact that it does what it’s supposed to. You must have been some being, some experiment from zone three, he thinks, and leaves it at that. He doesn’t need to pry too much into your personal life.

On the nights he does feel ever so slightly soft, he might take a closer look at you when you’ve fallen asleep in your office from doing so much paperwork and purifying. After a moment of considering what he should do, he’d give in to the curiosity he tries to ignore so much and touches your arm, wanting to know if you can feel the sensation. You stirring awake satisfies him, and he merely tells you to go to bed. It’s his way of saying “I care about you, you’re gonna hurt your back sleeping like that”, Dedan just can’t say it.

Japhet:

Probably at least somewhat well versed in what you are and how you work, he has read plenty of sci-fi and science books. Therefore he has at least some knowledge on cyborgs and recognises you as one immediately. It somewhat excites him, seeing one in person, alive and well, but instead of interrogating you regarding what happened to you, he’ll ask you about the world you live in and if it’s a dystopia, like most books depict it.

Will nerd out and make several comparisons between your world and the likes of that of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. He’s read so many novels, it’s hard for him not to. Might also have watched a movie or two, but the original books are always better. You can listen to him go on a tangent for hours why movies like Blade Runner simply aren’t up to his standards. It’s just as easy to shut him up, though, by showing him something cool you can do, even if it’s just increased jumping height.

Enoch:

Enoch, on the other hand, will ask only a few questions, before welcoming you with open arms. To him it’s more about how you can benefit him, and that you can easily do by keeping everyone in check. You’ll seem like a high-tech friend to the sugar addicted Elsen here, no matter how scary you might seem to them.

Would love to study you, to see how you work himself, but he can restrain himself, you wouldn’t be of any use to him broken and torn apart. Instead he will offer you what he can gather in regards to technology, even if it’s not particularly up to your standard of tech, you can still use the metal and form it into whatever it is you’ll need. Circuits, screws, metal plating, it’s rather versatile, actually.

Eventually, Enoch will get attached to you, though, because you’re just that unique. There’s nothing and no one like you in the world, so while he simply wanted to take advantage of your being at first, he will, after some time, do what he can to keep you with him for as long as possible. Whatever you need, it’s yours.
