Here's how Hilda/Johanna and Phinium/Lydia can still talk to each other!
With the last fairy mound dissolved, how is this possible?
It begins with the watchtower crystals.
Tumblr media
They allow the users to glimpse into the human world and observe specific individuals. They appear as silhoutted shadows to the targets. The observers can be seen, as shown in the ending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, Victoria Van Gale has used these crystals in order to send out radio broadcasts back home. It's how Hilda knew about her father's stowaway state in the first place. Victoria has decided to stay in Fairy Country and there's no doubt she'll interact and get friendly with the locals, and that could include Phinium and Lydia.
Tumblr media
See where I'm going with this?
Imagine...
Hilda remembered her promise to listen for Victoria Van Gale on the radio. As she set up the radio and listened, she heard about Van Gale's efforts to fix Fairy Country (and weather reports, of course). She thought, it was nice to do this without cracking ciphers for her disappeared dad or something.
One day, Phinium and Lydia used the crystals to check on their grandchild, and they saw her listening to Victoria's broadcasts. Getting an idea, they approached the former mad scientist and asked for a "special segment."
Hilda was sitting by the radio again when she heard a message.
"Before I sign off, a special shoutout to a dedicated listener: Hilda! If you're listening, as I know you are, I've been asked to invite YOU and your family to inspect your room for peculiar shadows. Your grandparents have a message for you."
Hilda turned on the lights and saw her grandparents' shadows. Overjoyed, she brought Johanna over and didn't give much context (it's a surprise!). As Johanna sat confused, they hovered by the radio as one final dialogue from Victoria came out before they'd hear very familiar voices:
"Thanks to these watchtower crystals, we can hear your replies—it's like a phone call! I'll see myself out, as I pass this over to Phinium and Lydia!"
The radio crackled as Hilda and Johanna looked at the shadows of their family that came before them, while Phiniun and Lydia looked at the illuminations of their family that came after.
You can imagine the conversation that transpired :)

If you Think about Johanna's life is tragic.
She gets sick
Her parents make a deal they have to give her up just to make her well
Then in return they give themselves up for her
Johanna sees's them leave and has her mind wiped form all the times they did she together
She goes years without knowing her try history
Until she does she REMEMBERS EVERYTHING and it is so heartbreaking to see this happy family ripped apart but Lydia and Phinium did it for her so she could live her life.

Unable to get out of Nowhere Space in time, Hilda is flung through the portal Victoria van Gale created. On the other side, she wakes up in a place unlike anything she's ever seen, and meets a girl who, just like her, is trying to find a way home.
This is the most ambitious fic I've written in a long time; my own take on The Fairy Isle, where Hilda finds herself lost in Fairy Country, and doesn't come home alone <3
Art by the incredibly talented @foolsfrogg <33

I see your into star wars and it was really into it a couple of Years ago and was obsessed for some time. (I have not caught p on the newer stuff sadly there was so much coming out and not enough time) But i figured I would pop in and share and Idea i have.
A Hilda Star Wars AU
Its kind of been in the back of my mind for a month.
Hilda (Maybe a Jedi) I really have only partly thought of it,
I know for sure i would have Kaia as a Jedi....
But i was also thinking of an idea that maybe Johanna is in the Darth Vader role.
Tildi is like a Yoda.
Just come to share some part of my Idea.
OOH
OKAY
SO I HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN THINKING ABOUT A HILDA/SW CROSSOVER
I've posted a little bit about what it might be before, and I see your Jedi Hilda, and I raise you: Mandalorian Hilda who has, in fact, just passed her verd'goten (I'm not going to go check the Mando'a website but I think that's the word) and is trying her level best to befriend Frida, padawan to Jedi Master Tildy :) (Kaisa was Tildy's padawan as well and is now an archivist)
I think character substitutions are cool, but I've honestly just gone with wholesale character integration, and I think it would be especially fun(ny) if the basic events of Hilda took place during the Clone War, so now there's a chaotic little Mando running around during all the other chaos. The other parts of this that have really been sticking in my mind is Hilda force-befriending Commander Fox as well as armorer Astrid :D

Finnish sapphics, 1800s
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A post that was originally made in honour of lesbian visibility week in 2023. Gives you insight on eight Finnish sapphics who were born in the 1800s. Original post can be found here.
Tumblr media
Isa Asp (1853–1872) wrote about 100 lyrical poems, and is known as the first woman Finnish poet. She became known as the "Sappho of Finland" and is considered to be Finland's first lesbian icon. Lydia Lagus, whom she met at school, was her muse (see for example "Laula, Lyydi!").
Tumblr media
Vera Hjelt (1857–1947) was a feminist (known both nationally and internationally), social reformer, and a pioneer of occupational safety and health. She was Scandinavia's first woman vocational inspector. She never married and lived in various collectives with women.
In 1912 Vera met Victoria Heikel to whom she starting writing, as she herself named them, "love letters". Although part of their correspondence were destroyed by vera, enough letters remained for the after life to understand the nature of their relationship. After a trip with Victoria she wrote 12 poems dedicated to Victoria, one of them named "I röda rosenår" (eng. in red rose years) could loosely be translated to this: "in the heart's red rose year / i bewitched forget how / the seconds flies / when love dawns / and tenderness all life's longing rules". It's believed that "rosenröd" (eng. rose-red) was a symbol for love between women. Additionally, in Victoria's obituary Vera returns to this symbolism writing: "You were a rare radiant sunshine child, […] let us remember you vividly, as you were in your warm happiness, -- in red rose years."
Tumblr media
Ester Helenius (1875–1955) was a Finnish artist. She never married but shared a home with suffrage activist Göta Salovius for 30 years. After Ester's death her niece found 2 unsigned poems, dedicated to Martta Helminen (with whom she spent time with in Paris in the 1920s).
Tumblr media
Anastasie Mannerheim (1893–1978) and Sophie Mannerheim (1895–1963) were daughters of Finland's marshal. Both never married, and lived with women. Sophie lived with Alexandra "Alix" Demidoff-Depret-Bixio, and bequeathed everything to her. Alix was also buried next to Sophie in paris.
Anastasie lived with Olive Rooney, whom she met during her time as a nun at the Golders Green monastery. During a visit from her father, she introduced olive as her "petite amie" (eng. girlfriend). They first lived in Brighton and then in a nursing home where they shared a room.
Tumblr media
Astrid Joutseno (1899–1962) was a pianist. She lived with her life partner, violinist Kerttu Wanne, in Paris until the 1950s at which time they built a house, that still exists today, in Finland. They also composed music and went on tours together.
Tumblr media
Hilda Käkikoski (1864–1912) was a writer, teacher and member of Parliament. She lived with activist Fanny Pajula 1889–1895. She also had relationships with other women, for example Hildi Ennola (Hilda's buried alongside her), Frances Weiss, Hanna Masalin and Helmi Kivalo, that continued until her death.
Tumblr media
Edith Södergran (1892–1923) was a poet, and one of the first modernists within Swedish literature. Biographers have erased her potential romantic love towards fellow Swedish speaking Finnish writer Hagar Olsson, and deemed it as intellectual. However, after Hagar's first visit Södergran wrote a series of poems about sisterhood in her third poetry collection (Rosenaltaret). Additionally, in her letters to Hagar, Edith begs Hagar to visit her again. Edith also gave Hagar a ring that she would carry all her life, and she wished to be buried with it.
Moreover, Södergran's poems have lots of lesbian elements (e.g. longing & love between women), see for example "I believe in my sister" from Rosenaltaret (1919): "I have a sister. / the elf-girls wove her silk garments, / the moon virgin sprinkled dew on her breasts…/ she is delightful".

Just finished Hilda and I NEED MORE!!!
I won't spoil anything (yet) but 3 seasons and a movie just isn't enough! There's so much you can do with this show that I want more of it! The ending was great and I was satisfied with it but I at least need another movie or 3 more seasons. Then I'll be fully satisfied
Okay spoiler time!
I fucking LOVE The Pooka!
Tumblr media
Such a lil guy of mischief and if they ever came knocking, I'd happily give them what they want.
Tumblr media
Astrid is so awesome, I love her. The fact that she was going to sacrifice herself for Joanna was so sweet!
Tumblr media
She finally did somethings good. I still don't like her but glad that Victoria Van Gale sort of redeemed herself.
Tumblr media
I'm so upset that Phinium & Lydia will never see Joanna again. But at least they can watch over her and Hilda.

Thinking of Astrid meeting Kaisa…. Miss “I’ve always been an admirer of the craft” receiving in her house her beloved niece’s new partner, and it’s a straight up witch. Not a witch the way that Anders was an ‘adventurer’, though. This one is sweet and kind and modest and genuinely so worried about making a good impression on Astrid, it’s utterly charming. Thinking about her seeing the way Johanna and Kaisa play off of each other and remembering her brother and Lydia. Thinking of her inviting Kaisa to philosophical discussions about the nature of magic and enjoying how well spoken she is and how she always cites her sources, at the same time that she never talks down to Astrid’s own opinions. Thinking of her seeing the easy familiarity between Kaisa and Hilda. Thinking of how relieving it would be to Astrid to see how utterly smitten Kaisa is, to know for sure that Johanna wouldn’t be left behind by this one. Thinking.

Hilda and Jo: Together Again
(aka another fanfic idea i had even though i should be working on erikafolk)
Tumblr media
"Everything's changed, hasn't it?"
"Yes. But it's the way of the world for things to change. It wasn't for nothing. We'll always have our memories of this place."
"But that's all it is! Memories. Our house is gone. The mountain's gone. Our life here's gone. And now... Now you're gone too."
...
Rewatching the episode "Together Again" in Adventure Time: Distant Lands and finding out about the scrapped storyline for Hilda E2E8 "The Fifty-Year Night," I had a tearjerking idea for a Hilda fanfic.
Johanna dies during Hilda's late teens. What caused her death? Who knows! One thing is certain though: Hilda will never see life the same way again.
Sure, she still was the same fearless, adventure-loving girl; but her motivations for her love for adventures changed. She kept adventuring more than ever in order to distract herself from having the time to even think about Johanna. She still had David, Frida, Alfur, Twig, and all of her wonderful friends, but often she wonders how long will she live for until she dies and gets to join her mother.
It didn't help that Johanna's body disappeared. Her own daughter couldn't even meet her as a ghost.
More information:
In her adult life, Hilda became a naturalist and explorer, authoring several books about her exploits around the world. She's becoming to come to terms with her mother's death. She thought, this is what Johanna would want her to do.
Until one day, she discovered strange, magical creatures, "Skuggers" she called them. Bearing a striking resemblance to a certain fae entity, these creatures have immensely powerful illusion magic. Also a very peculiar oddity with them: they're always sighted with seemingly random individuals who just died. Hilda found out the pattern: Skuggers always look for the remains of fairy-human hybrids. Just when Hilda was getting over Johanna, she saw this as an opportunity to finally get closure about her mother's whereabouts.
She said goodbye to her friends and acquiantances back in Trolberg, only bringing Twig along for her quest to find out more about Skuggers. Although, all her attempts failed because, well, hard to fool a being capable of supernaturally fooling your very senses. After weeks of failure, she was gonna head back to Trolberg when she finally spotted a Skugger, not too far from the wall, bringing a bag of bones; it seemed like it was going somewhere. Hilda and Twig followed it discreetly and discovered a fairy circle in the mountains that was hidden by the Skuggers' magic. Unfortunately, at this point, they were found out and the Skugger sprinted along the mountainside, with Hilda and Twig chasing it. Who did those bones belong to? It seemed like she was finally gonna figure out where they stash all those fairy-hybrid remains. She's gonna see her mother again.
And then she fell.
Very high.
She landed with a thud.
And then she died.
In her final moments, she saw shadowy silhouttes, and then a very strange, colorful, yet familiar environment, before blacking out.
.
.
.
Years has passed. Hilda rose up from the ground and saw that she was transparent and skeletal. She was a ghost! Her tombstone was even there! She thought she was buried at St. Guglows, but a quick turnaround revealed gigantic mushrooms, jade-colored rocks, and a flock of white woffs in the air. She was in Fairy Country!
Turns out, Phinium and Lydia saw Hilda dying and "abducted" her with the watchtower, but it was too late to save her. They hid her body in a very remote place in the isle, where no one but them could find it.
Hilda saw that the entire island is in darkness. Shouldn't the sun never set in Fairy Country? To be honest, she also didn't expect a lot of jury-rigged radiotowers, skyscrapers, and roads. What happened to the fairies?
Yeah, Fairy Country as we know it has been transformed by years of mad science and old magic, thanks to Victoria Van Gale. She assumes de facto control over all of Fairy Country and dubbed them the territory of the "Republic of Van Galea". The Skuggers were her personal inventions, meant to exploit the island's properties where what you see is what people want to believe they are.
Those remains? Skuggers use the ghostly forms of fairy-human hybrids in order to power their illusion magic. They're locked up somewhere in the watchtowers.
Try guessing who else is a certain half-fairy ghost there... ;)
And you know how Hilda reacted to all of this? The fact she died prematurely, the fact that her friends thought of her as missing for years, the fact that Victoria Van Gale has messed up the Fairy Isles beyond belief?
She simply lit up with joy and thought, "I get to see Mum again!"
:D
(The burden of those questions will come to her later).
