I've been thinking about voter suppression since yesterday. Specifically about ID requirements to vote, because I got a notification in the mail yesterday that my license expires on my birthday and it's going to cost $129 to renew. And according to the DOL I can get a reduced fee card for $25 but it's unclear if this is a license or just an ID card. When I look around the DOL website it refers you to the department of social and health services but a search of their website turns up NOTHING about this program so I can't figure out if I can get a license for a reduced fee.
Not only that, but there's two types of ID cards in Washington, regular IDs and "enhanced" IDs. An enhanced ID is required for re-entry into the US at land and sea border crossings. Starting in 2025 it'll also be required for domestic air travel. Even if I were to get this discounted card, which may or may not be a license, if I want it to be an enhanced ID I'd have to pay an extra $7 for each year it's valid. Washington does 6 and 8 year ID cards. So if I want to be able to go anywhere by plane, I am paying at least $67 for an ID card that, again, I cannot tell if it's actually a license or just an ID.
I really wish a percentage of that $129 went towards a fee waiver for enhanced driver's licenses. I would gladly pay for that. Because this is outrageous. I could get a passport for that much money.
And you know, to me, if I just needed an ID to vote and nothing else, $25 is doable. But to some people it's not. The most vulnerable people in society shouldn't have to choose between eating and being able to vote.
Requiring ID for voting is a form of voter suppression that affects the most vulnerable in our society. The people who need the most help. Not to mention the fact that voter ID laws disproportionately affect people of color.
Expand voting access! Enable voting by mail! And while we're at it, incorporate ranked choice voting!
If you want to support efforts to expand voting access, vote.org is a bipartisan independent charity organization working on that front. They score highly on charity navigator. They also have an easy tool to double check that you are still registered to vote because there's a history of people's registrations being purged. So it's good to check and I recommend you do.

It's fire season. Let's talk.
So, it's fire season here in Alberta. Came early, of course. People are still recovering from last year, and the fires that raged through the off season.
So, let's not be upset when all the smoke comes. People closer have it worse. Wear my KN95 masks, respirators, get your home an air purifier. Donate if and when you can to anything but the Red Cross.
If you're in an area that frequently sees fires, please pack your emergency kit now. You need AT LEAST 72 hours worth of food, water, and medication for EACH member of your family, including your pets. I suggest up to a week if you can. If you have a vehicle, make sure your lights all work, make sure your emergency kit is in there, and your registration and insurance.
Your emergency kit should include and home/tenant insurance, pictures of things you want back/would want replaced (like xboxes, tvs, etc). Make sure it's up to date. You want health info for each member of your family, and copies of every single important document for them. This includes birth certificates, health care cards, health insurance cards, sin numbers, etc.
If you have pets, you want to have documentation of vaccinations, and please have your animals up to date on their vacinations and dewormers.
If you do not have a vehicle, then you need to contact somebody around you and talk about an emergency plan. Will they be able to get to you in time, what will you be able to take with you, etc.
If you live on a farm and have to evacuate, please ensure your animals have an escape route. Whether that's you or an open gate.
Most importantly, take care of eachother. Don't throw your cigarette butts out the window, don't flick your ashes, and don't have a fire if you're not allowed to in your area.
... but if you want to set our premier on fire.... I'm joking. Relax.

I’m confused. Why would he get deported? He’s married to (presumably) a US citizen already. Not sure if I missed something?
Well, the simplest explanation is that everyone who immigrates/emigrates to the US has to fill out paperwork to stay here. Doesn't matter who you are, who your family is, who you're married to, where you're from, what money you have. Everyone fills out the paperwork.
Being married to a US citizen only affects the type of visa (Spouse of US Citizen) you get and which application (Form I-130, the Petition for Alien Relative) your sponsor fills out to start the process.
The longer/more detailed explanation of the process, and the background for the lawsuit about Harry's visa application, is this:
Tumblr media
(Apologies for how small the text is. I didn't want it to be a multi-page thing.) I'll describe it below the jump.
But essentially, Harry's process to become a legal permanent resident through his marriage to a US citizen is:
Sponsor/Meghan submits Form I-130 to the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), requesting approval to bring her spouse to live with her in the US.
USCIS reviews the form and will approve (left green circle) or deny (left red circle) the application. If they deny it, that ends the process. They can try again later. If they approve it, then:
Sponsor/Meghan pays a bunch of fees and a visa case is opened.
(The big giant square text) More paperwork and documents are submitted. Meghan and Harry do this together. (I'll explain this in a bit.)
The Spouse/Harry has his immigration interview.
USCIS will review the visa case file and make a decision on whether to approve or deny the visa request. If they deny the visa, then depending on the justification for denial, the Spouse/Harry may request a waiver or he can submit additional documentation for further consideration. If the visa is approved, then the Spouse/Harry is given approval to travel to the US and once he's here, he gets permanent residency - aka "the green card."
Now, getting back to the giant text block and the "more paperwork" requirement. In this phase of the process for a spousal visa, the couple must provide:
An affadavit of support from the Sponsor/Meghan (this basically says that she has enough income to support Harry and they won't need government assistance)
Supporting financial documents (probably tax declarations)
Harry's passport
Additional photographs of Harry
Form DS-260, the Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application from Harry (this is Harry's application for residency)
Harry's birth certificate
Their marriage certificate
Harry's military records (the US requires anyone with military service in any country to submit)
Harry's police certificate (information about whether he has been arrested or charged with crimes/what kinds)
Harry's Medical Examination form (which sometimes is done after the interview)
Form DS-260 is the big one. It basically asks the immigrant (Harry, in this case) about everything in his life: his childhood, his work history, his social media accounts, where he's lived, his family of origin, his children, previous travel to the US, medical and health details (including history of substance abuse. communicable diseases, and vaccination record), criminal history, security and background details, and social security.
If you're found to have lied about anything on this form - for instance, something pops on the background check that isn't disclosed or your answers in the interview are inconsistent with what's reported on the form or your social media tells a totally different story - it's grounds for your application to be denied and, if you're already here in the US, you to be deported.
This is what the DHS/Homeland Security lawsuit is about. The DS-260 has a question about drug use. The Heritage Foundation (the plaintiff in the case) is suing DHS to find out what Harry reported about his drug use on the form and in his medical history because historically, the US does not allow people with drug addictions or past drug use into the country. After Harry's admissions in Spare that he's basically a functioning addict, the Heritage Foundation assumed that Harry said "no" on the drug use question (which would be a lie) and they want to find out if he was given special treatment because of being Queen Elizabeth's grandson. (I also suspect the Heritage Foundation wants to find out if Harry has a regular passport or is traveling/living in the US on a diplomatic passport as well.)
So going back to your original question, yes, Harry can still be deported even if he is the spouse of a US citizen and even if he is a permanent resident. All the marriage to a US citizen means is what forms get filled out and what supporting documentation is submitted. That's all; there aren't any other protections involved in being married to a US citizen.
But there is a benefit to immigrating via a "green card marriage" - if you come to the US on any other kind of visa, the requirements are much stricter and the waiting period for eligibility can sometimes take much longer. Particularly on the latter, the US actually has requirements on how many people per country can immigrate/travel in a given a year, even if you're sponsored by a business or a friend or a family member (eg a brother or uncle). So some people end up waiting years to move to the US; that's just the demand on the system. But with a "green card marriage," you get to jump most of the queues and your waiting period for eligibility disappears in an instant. You can literally begin your application to move to the US the day you get engaged to a US citizen or the day you get married.
But you still have to go through all the hoops and fill out all the paperwork anyway. No way around that. No matter who your grandmother is.
Now for the part that makes all of this even more complicated: COVID.
A lot of rules government-wide were relaxed because of the COVID national emergency. One of the areas in which a lot of rules, standards, and regulations were relaxed is immigration, which caused an enormous backlog of paperwork and cases. Why? Because we're the goverment, y'all, and we move at slower-than-glacial-pace. In March 2020, we still processed a million things by hand on actual physical paper. (Remember, I'm a fed. I've got horror stories for days about this.) So part of the issue with everyone going home is that the paperwork didn't come home with us. It just kept stacking up and stacking up and stacking up in the office because we were still using paper systems and there hadn't been enough time to automate processes or digitize systems when we were ordered to work from home on March 16th. (Particularly in the DC area, talks/plans to send us all home started literally the week before, on March 9th. That was zero time to do anything but scale up the VPN and give everyone a laptop so whole entire agencies can work from home - because remember, before March 2020, it wasn't a thing for us in government to work from home.) So in June/July 2020 when the local stay-at-home orders were finally lifted, we all went back to the office to huge backlogs of paperwork and casework. Backlogs that were still growing by the day, and backlogs that needed to be handled quickly. As a result, there were a lot of decisions made to just "rubber-stamp" everything as quickly as possible. In DHS/USCIS, that meant citizenship and visa applications weren't as closely reviewed as they may have been in the past because the bosses were telling us "just get it done" because the Trump Administration was breathing down everyone's necks to deliver results that they could use in his re-election campaign.
So there's speculation now that Harry's visa/immigration application is one of those cases that got "rubber stamped" to get through the backlog. And part of that speculation is an attempt to understand when exactly did the visa paperwork get processed and whether there was undue special treatment in doing so. Was he part of the backlog that was grandfathered/rubber-stamped into the US? Or was his application processed before that?
Because if his application was processed before he moved here in March 2020, well, then the Sussexes aren't telling the truth about where they lived or what they were doing. Reason being that typically on a spousal visa, you usually can't already be living here in the US when you apply for it. You apply from your home country and come to the US only once your visa request has been granted.
So did the Sussexes apply for Harry's visa when they were living in Canada, starting the process as early as November 2019 when the BRF forced them into a vacation and panicking in February 2020 when COVID started closing borders? In that case, did the Sussexes apply diplomatic pressure to expedite DHS's review of Harry's case so they could be in the US before borders closed? Or did they say "screw it" and moved to the US without waiting for a decision and then applied diplomatic pressure to have Harry's case approved retroactively?
Or did the Sussexes apply for Harry's visa much earlier, when they were still living in the UK/working as full-time royals? And if that's the case, then did they really go to Canada like they said they did, or did they just hide out in the US for a bit so Harry could pick up his green card, and then they traveled to Vancouver/Canada for New Year's?
Or - perhaps the more tinhatty scenario - did the Sussexes apply for Harry's visa right after the marriage, at the earliest opportunity Meghan could've filed the paperwork? In which case, their secret honeymoon could really potentially have been a trip to the US so Harry could claim his green card.
Option 3 is incredibly farfetched. We know the Sussexes can't keep their stories straight so I feel like if that's what had actually happened, there would've been holes poked into their "fleeing to Canada" narrative already.
I probably lean towards Option 1 (they exploited COVID to move here) but Option 2 is pretty plausible too.
Anyway, that's a ton more than you/anon probably expected. (It's a whole lot more than I expected to write about too.) But hopefully this clears up some confusion about what exactly is happening with Harry's immigration status, why it's possible he can still be deported, and sheds a little light on the Homeland Security lawsuit.
Edit: added some clarification (see bolded part under the flowchart)

The Perfect Girl - Dave Miller/William Afton x Female Reader

Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a large turnout for the candlelight vigil.
Former classmates. Members of the community. Your mother. Employees at the mall. William Afton remains at the edges of the crowd. Stares into the flame until his vision goes blurry. Thinks about you tucked away in his pizzeria. All his. Only his. His own.
Your car was finally discovered earlier that day, outside of town where he’d abandoned it. Wiped clean. No evidence he’d ever been inside of it. Purse found inside, apparently intact, no contents missing. Driver’s license. Social security card. Health insurance card. Credit card. Car insurance and registration. Makeup. Cash. There’s a film crew present doing a brief recap of the story of your disappearance. Interviewing your mother. Several others. They don’t ask the one person who knows what really happened.
He has to be extra cautious when returning to see you. There are so many people around. He actually leaves and comes back. Still waits to make sure he’s not being watched or followed. Slipping back through the mall entrance that’s been long forgotten. Winding through liminal spaces. Back inside the restaurant. Now back inside the room with you.
***
It’s late when your captor returns.
You’d fallen asleep on the couch, barely making it through the opening credits of the movie you’d put on. The cell phone is hidden behind the refrigerator, tucked on the floor just within reach but securely out of sight. You can tell William’s been outdoors; can feel the cooler autumn air still clinging to his body. You sit up, making room for him.
He still sits close. One arm curling around you. Possessive. His fingers are cool against the bare skin of your shoulder.
“How was the vigil? Did it just end now?” You glance at the clock. Nearly 3am.
“No. I left for a bit. To make sure…” You nod your understanding. No chance he was followed, then. Your location still a secret.
“Is my mom alright?”
“She’s being brave for the cameras. Behind the scenes, too. Optimistic you’ll be found.”
“Cameras?”
“The local news station was here. Doing a little blurb to refresh people’s memories. Hoping someone might suddenly remember a detail that had gotten overlooked previously. There aren’t any, of course.”
Afton sounds so confident. “You’re cold,” you say, the fingers absently stroking your bare shoulder making you shiver.
“So warm me up.”
You lean to kiss him. Even his lips are cool. He’d been outside a while. Maybe not so confident, then. Hesitating. Your tongue spears his mouth. Warm inside. Your fingers on his cheek. Rough stubble. Settling into that mess of hair. You’re already throbbing. Straddle his lap, the links of the chain clinking with the movement. Your hands now fiddling with the fly of his pants. He moans into your mouth and you answer in kind. His cock released, hot against your skin. “Please fuck me, William.” You beg against his ear. Lav at his neck. There are pajama shorts and panties to contend with. The shackle. He’s too impatient. You hear the snick of the pocket knife on his keyring opening. Tearing through the thin material barricading you from him. Clumsy sawing drags of the blade, not his usual artful handling. Desperate to get at you. The elastic waistbands give him the most difficulty. He curses when he knicks his thumb in the process. Shifts slightly to line you up with his erection. You sheathe him slowly. Hands resting on his shoulders trembling. Bloodied thumb pressed against your bottom lip. Your eyes flutter closed. Let it slip past your lips. Sucking. You finish your descent. He’s fully inside of you.
You bend to kiss him again. The taste of his blood still lingering. His tongue greedy for it. You raise and lower yourself. Grinding down. Bouncing. Fast and then slow. One hand cupping your ass cheek. “William…” You say his name over and over. What will your reward be this time? What do you dare ask for? Fresh air. A chance to use the phone. Just a quick call to emergency services. Let them trace it.
Is that really the only reason you’re doing this?
The pendant of the gifted necklace lying against the base of your throat. Your hand wrapped around his. You’ve no idea how it’s gotten there. He’s meeting your hips now. Moving faster. His eyes locked with yours. “Do it.”
You frown. Your pelvis hesitates mid motion. Does he want…?
“Do it,” he says again. He hasn’t stopped pummeling you.
He’s asked for this before. Your fingers tighten. You feel the movement of his Adam’s apple. The forced swallow against the pressure you’re exerting. The thin hiss of air exchange through the compressed passage. Your body dropping down onto his. Struggling for air yourself. Your arm shaking with tension.
Your fingers relax. Your face drops into the crook of his neck. A heavy rasp of air. He’s stopped moving. You’re still impaled. “I can't do it, I can’t hurt you.”
“Why not?”
“Because. I’m not violent,” you murmur, your face lifting so you can see his features.
He tucks a swathe of your hair behind one ear. “You are when you let yourself be. That’s the only difference between us. Restraint. Inhibition. I know you so well. Better than you know yourself…” His mouth on yours. “There’s another reason you won’t hurt me, isn’t there?” He kisses your neck and you shudder. “Isn’t there?” Firmer now. He expects an answer.
You nod.
“Say it.”
“William…”
“Why are you so afraid?”
“Because I’ve given you everything else. I’ll have nothing left if I…”
“You’ll have me. You have me. A decade ago I would never have forgiven…What have you done to me, to make me feel…” You kiss the rest of the words away. Grinding against him again. “Come to bed with me and let me fuck you properly.”
You climb off his lap. The sudden absence of his cock buried inside you already leaving you aching. Clothes discarded along the short path to the bed. You’re pressed down beneath him on top of the comforter. Back inside of you. As if you’d never been parted. A hand knotting in your hair. His mouth on your throat. Your fingers on his scars. Hot breath huffed against your skin. Little pleading noises escaping you. Half formed words. Nails digging into flesh. Knees pressing into ribs. A shake of muscles. You can’t withstand the battering any longer. Melting against him. His shuddering breath. Body dropping down, his weight on you. Making it hard to breathe. That molten flow deep in your core. The taut frame nearly suffocating you relaxing, stilling, depressing the mattress beside you instead.
Facing each other. Still on top of the covers. Respirations normal. The little firing of nerves less frequent, less intense. “What do you want?” His voice quiet.
“You.”
It’s only half a lie.
***
The roof of the mall the next evening. The first fresh air you’ve inhaled in months.
William keeps you tucked inside the shadowed stairwell. Still cautious. Bound to his wrist. You can see the stars. The autumn air is welcome. You've been gifted some new clothing. Weather appropriate for the coming months, although the pizzeria interior is always climate controlled. Maybe this wouldn’t be your only trip outside. If you were good. If you could convince him…
The phone is in your pants pocket. Turned on. Ready to use. If the battery lasted. If you had a signal. And then what? You’d have to toss it and hope it wouldn’t break. It would be better if you could somehow convince him to sever the ziptie. But why would he? Especially after what had happened last time. The agony of the indecision tortures you. Did you want to be restrained even more? Go back to having him not look at you, not speak to you? Not touch you…
In the end the mobile device goes unused. You can’t risk it.
You’re brought back to your confinement. Afton doesn’t stay. You don’t ask. You hide the phone in the same place as before, checking the battery life first. A warning to charge the device. The screen goes dark.
***
William finishes his security guard shift and lingers in his customary hiding spots until he’s certain the coast is clear before he returns to his restaurant.
Eases down into the swivel chair before the monitors on the security office. His eyes immediately focus on the displays for your room. You’re reading. Or at least you appear to be. He doesn’t see you turn a page. Notices the glint of your silver necklace. The wicked silver wink of the butcher knife on the desk in front of him. He reaches for it, rocking back in his chair. Point pressing against the new scab on his thumb. Not hard enough to puncture, just testing the sharpness. He already knows the blade is ready, freshly prepared after his most recent kills. Knows all about the secret you have stashed away. He’s the one that had placed it on the bathroom sink, after all. Another test. Another slim opportunity you’d wasted.
He wonders about that. Why you hadn’t at least made the attempt. Fearing his ire, perhaps. Of course he would’ve had to punish you.
But you were so good at finding the mercy in him.
The security guard realizes he’s bleeding again. He’s pushed too deeply. Or the knife is sharper than he’d thought. A little of both, perhaps. He rises to his feet. Rolls the handle of the blade in his palm. Leaves the room and enters yours.
***
You look up from the page you’d been stuck on, the same paragraph read repeatedly without comprehension. The door remains open behind William.
You notice the knife immediately and shrink back a little against the cushions of the couch. See the blood dripping from his other hand.
“William, what happened?”
He realizes where you’re staring and shrugs, unconcerned. “Cut myself.”
“You’re not going to put something on that?” You’re thinking about grabbing some napkins from the kitchen cupboard, already moving off the couch. He watches you, making no move to take the paper offering. “William…”
“I’ve been thinking about the other night. When you said you could never hurt me. You could, though, couldn’t you? If the circumstances demanded it. If it was your only chance of escape.” He sets the knife on the counter. “If I gave you one fair chance. Would you take it? Would you abandon me?”
“William, I don’t—”
“—Why didn’t you use the phone last night?”
You suck in a deep breath. Christ, he knew. He always does. When will you learn? Your heart races. “The battery was practically dead, I didn’t think it would even work.”
“You brought it with you, though, didn’t you? Intending to use it.”
It was useless to lie. “Yes.”
“So why didn’t you?”
“I just told you…”
He lifts the knife again and the argument dies in your throat. “You still don’t understand. After everything I’ve tried. It doesn’t matter how many rewards or punishments I mete.” The older man advances towards you. There’s nothing but the kitchen counter and cabinets at your back. He reaches for your chin, lifting it firmly. “I’m going to unlock your restraint.” Kneeling now. Your entire body is shaking. You don’t know what’s happening. You don’t think you’ve ever been this afraid.
The metal band releases. He tosses it aside, standing once more. Blood still leaks from his wound, pattering to the floor. “Take this.” He uncurls your fingers from their white knuckled grip on the edge of the counter. Presses the handle into them. “You only get one chance at this. Make it count. Your best bet is here,” he taps the side of his neck. “Quick thrust to sever carotid and jugular. A little slower for the axillary here,” he lifts his arm, gesturing to the hollow beneath. “Right side here for the liver is another good choice. But you should go for the throat. A quick end if your aim is true.”
“I’m not…I’m not doing that. Any of that.” There are tears sliding down your cheeks.
“Why not?”
“You know why not. I told you I’m not like you.”
“Not like me? Not crazy like me, you mean?” A bitter smile. The backs of his fingers drag through the salted tracks staining your face. “Don’t waste this opportunity. There won’t be another, I promise you.” His thumb dragging across your bottom lip. The bloodied one. A final mark upon you.
Your grip on the knife tightens. You hesitate. You can’t do it. Impossible. He has you trapped here in more ways than one. He knows it. Not just the restraints. Not just the threats. There was more preventing you from leaving. His influence over you too strong. Breaking you down steadily over the months. You hadn’t even been consciously aware of it before now. Every uttered consent. Every desire. You were his.
Your last chance to flee. A window of opportunity shutting. Hurting him wouldn’t be enough. Running would never put enough distance between you. There was no escape. He had to be the one to let you go. And he never would. Not unless you forced him to. An idea comes to you. The place where you could bury the blade that would do the most damage. Not inside of him. Inside of you. That which he treasures the most. The most damage you could inflict.
“Close your eyes.” You don’t want him to see what you’re attempting, trying to prevent you from doing this.
He nods in understanding, obeying. Those long dark lashes laid over smudged skin. So calm and accepting. You reverse the blade. Position it on the left side of your abdomen. You’ve no idea how lethal the placement is, just paying attention to Afton’s impromptu anatomy lesson and steering clear of any of those dangerous zones.
Now. Do it now. Don’t think. Just do it.
You grit your teeth. Shove the knife inside of you.
The pain. Unlike any other. A gasp. William’s eyes fly open. Frowning, not realizing what is happening. You collapse and he goes down with you, preventing your head from striking the concrete. You can feel the blood soaking through your shirt. His face above your wavering vision. The realization. You’d beaten him at his own game. You’d won.
***
You awaken to the bright lights inside of a hospital room.
So. Your gamble had paid off. You’d managed not to inflict any lethal damage. You’d finally escaped Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria.
William had brought you here. Surrendering. Letting you go.
He could come for you again, you suppose, the temporary relief smothered with this realization. But for now, you were free. You were safe.
Your wound really fucking hurts.
You find the call button to summon a nurse. Other staff follow. You’re told you’ve been out for nearly a week. Left outside the ER. Injured but no weapon found. A call that is traced to a very confused looking homeowner nearby. You know William won’t have left prints. Surgery. Sutured back together. Your mother is called. The police don’t allow much time before you’re questioned. And this is where you find yourself lying about your captivity. Stating you were driven somewhere. Far away, in the van a long time. Blindfolded. The sound of water. A young man’s voice. The lies spill from your lips easily. The authorities seem convinced. Your mother is anxious for you to be discharged.
You wonder if she’ll ever let you out of her sight again.
***
You’ve only missed one semester of college.
They allow you to begin in January. Your classes are shuffled around to accommodate you. Courses for first years will now be handled during your second year instead. You’re something of a celebrity. Constantly pestered with questions. The occasional journalist seeking a story. Your account never wavers and interest fades with time, like the healing laceration on your stomach.
You find yourself looking over your shoulder frequently. Imagining footsteps that aren’t there. You leave class one evening and fumble with your car key, struggling to fit it inside the lock. That nagging feeling that you’re being watched persisting. The hairs on the back of your neck lifting. The parking lot is emptying. There are a row of trees beside the building. The feeling intensifies. You cease your struggles and let the keyring dangle from your fingers. Tuck your backpack over your shoulder and step onto the mulch bordering the curb. Weaving between hedges. Nearly to the trees now. Cloaked in shadows.
You know the sound of William’s breathing as well as your own. Drawn towards him like a magnet, you find him. He’s dressed to match the night. Dark shirt, dark jacket and pants. The only lightness that pale skin of his. Visible in the brief moment the moon peeks from behind the clouds before becoming shadowed once again.
You shift the weight of your book bag. Finally ease it off of your shoulder, letting it drop to the carpet of pine needles and leaves.
“Why didn’t you tell the police about me?”
A valid query. Why hadn’t you? Why were you keeping the pizzeria and its murderous owner a secret? Preventing justice for all of its victims, yourself included?
“I don’t know.”
“I think you do.”
“Are you going to take me back?”
“Do you want to be taken back?”
“No,” you say softly.
A grunt. “You could have died. Stupid, what you did.”
“I was dying already, William. Just at a slower pace. I couldn’t stay there any longer.”
“Do you ever think about me?”
You swallow thickly. “All the time.”
“Is any of it fond? Or is it all bitter, tainted…You’ve no idea the emptiness you’ve left behind. The sheer ache…”
You move forward, wrapping your arms around him. Surprising you both. His arms finally settling around you, the stiff awkwardness melting.
“It wasn’t stupid, what you did. It was brilliant. Something I hadn’t anticipated.” There’s a note of pride in his voice.
“Please don’t hurt anyone else. Promise me you won’t. I’ll never tell anyone about what happened, just…”
A heavy sigh. “There are conditions for everything, aren’t there?” He combs his fingers through your hair. “A price to be paid for the things we desire.” Pushing gently against your face tucked against his chest. Lifting it. His lips finding yours. So warm contrasting with that winter air around you. Your hands linking behind his neck. Pulling him tighter. That familiar heat stirring your insides. The kiss becoming wetter, more frantic. Gasping breaths when you finally part.
“What do you want?” He’s trembling in your arms.
“You.”
It’s the truth.

{Name} - A Sociology, Applied Science and History A level student. Known as Childe's younger sister, {Name} has been failing her classes for a long time with no real care towards it. Due to this, she ended up being thrown into an extra curricular class without her consent.
Venti -  Music, English lit and Sociology A level. Being the student head of the Anemo house should bring a lot more responsibility. However, for him, it does not. (Maybe that's why four of his house members are also in ALS with {Name}) Him and {Name} met one night at a party around a friends house since they both ended up blacking out and getting an ambulance called on them.
Hu Tao - Criminology and law, forensic science and math A level student. Her and {Name} met when she heard Zhongli and Childe were dating. Hu Tao literally tracked her down in a study period and scared the living day lights out of her.
Yoimiya - Physical education, Sociology and Psychology A level student. Yoimiya is a netball girlie (you cant convince me otherwise) and-- after a teacher sat them together in the hopes {Name} would somehow improve in sociology --the two of them became fast friends.
Xiangling - Food Science, Dance and Health and Social care A level student. Her and Yanfei are in {Names} registration and always are the ones dragging her in in the morning to get signed in .
Yanfei- Criminology and Law, politics and history A level student. When {Name} joined the school, Yanfei was the one in charge of showing her around. {Name} has stuck to her like glue since.

Master List
Hiyaaaa~
Here's a few notes to clear up any confuse to anyone who isn't aware of what sixth form is <3
First, Sixthform is the last two years of high school in the uk where you gain important qualifications for University (aka College). In Sixthform, you can pick between 3-4 course to do, varying from pretty much anything. You also get Study periods where you are supposed to do work for lessons, although no one really does. You also can wear no uniform in most sixthform with a few restrictions. (Office wear n that)
Second, in british schools, you have houses. They change from school and their importance also changes. For some its literally just something that people are sorted in for sports day and insert days. In my school, you had assemblies based on your house and-- outside of sixthform --it also changed your school uniform slightly. Like you would have a different blazer and tie. In this SMAU, the seven houses are of course, Anemo, Electro, Geo, Cryo, Pyro, Dendro, Hydro.
Third, for my sixthform at least, you were given a lanyard with a card that you could use to open gates around the school. This prompted late mornings (pretty much mornings where you had no lessons so you didnt need to come in until your first lesson) and pretty much leaving when you liked.
Lastly, registration is pretty much home room where you get told what's going on and get signed in.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask <3

WRITING UPDATE ✍️✍️✍️
Hello! No new Muscle Memory chapter today (my apologies) but here is some of what I've been working on today!
Gonna keep updates here to keep myself accountable and for anyone who is interested to know what's up :)
A snippet from my latest chapter of Things We're All Too Young To Know:
“Did I do something wrong?”
“No, buddy.” Buck promises, wiping a tear off Christopher’s cheek with his thumb. “Y-you did the exact right thing. You called me. You got help. That was so brave and so smart.”
Buck has a feeling that if Christopher had called a family member, this might have gone very differently for Eddie.
Christopher sniffles. “Dad said if anything terrible ever happened, it’s your job to take care of me. So I thought…”
Buck’s heart stutters. Christopher knows. Christopher knows and he thought… He thought the same thing Buck had thought… And well, of course he did. Of course he’d been afraid that… Christopher knows better than either Buck or Eddie. He knows that parents die.
Buck shifts so he can lean forward and hug Christopher.
“It’s my job to take care of both of you, okay?” Buck says. “And I will. I-I always will.”
“Promise?”
Buck takes a moment to think before deciding on his next move.
Then, carefully, he offers Christopher his pinkie.
“I promise.”
A snippet from my upcoming chapter (chapter five) of Muscle Memory:
Being pulled over without a proper license or registration has made Buck hyper-aware of a lot more that could go wrong in his life right now.
If he gets hurt in some freak accident - you know, like a lightning strike, tsunami, revenge bombing, or hell, even choking on a piece of bread - he probably doesn’t have health insurance. He literally can’t put himself in danger. Can’t put himself in harm’s way. Because he might, what, be thrown out from the hospital? Left to suffer and die? God, he hasn’t had to worry about this in  years.
His passport is fucked.
His gym membership pass is fucked.
His library card is fucked.
Everything is fucked.
And Bobby doesn’t care about him.
And, finally, a snippet from my upcoming Whumptober probject:
“What are you doing up?” Is the first thing Eddie says the moment he walks through the door.
Buck rises from his spot on the couch.
“No, no,” Eddie snaps his fingers. “Sit.”
“Not a dog,” Buck says, crossing the room to get to him. “You okay?”
Eddie sighs. “My shoulder is killing me. Bothered the old wound. Otherwise, I’m good.”
Buck leans forward and kisses his forehead. Eddie wraps his arms around his waist, pulls him close, and sinks his forehead into Buck’s shoulder.
“I hated it,” Buck whispers into his hair. “Watching you fall on the news. Not being there with you. I hated it.”

Health Registration Card
An ABHA health registration card is a basic requirement for availing of the perks of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission. It is a platform that allows individuals and families to enroll in a digital health account, which in turn provides them with access to a wide range of healthcare services. Kulcare plays an integral role by spearheading compliance with ABDM implementations for healthcare establishments, which can be easily followed by the concerned authorities.

*crawls up from the depths of the earth*
So. 25 days away. That’s definitely by far the longest I’ve spent outside of this hellhole.
Damn, did I miss it.
Anyway! I’m finally able to stay that my apartment is 100% set and my new life in Tokyo has stabilized! Which means I’m at long last ready to come back here.
Y’all won’t believe how much has happened in this meantime, but perhaps I can give a brief summary:
First of all, moving out of Osaka was almost an odyssey. In order to rent a place here in Japan as a student, you need to prove your student status by submitting either your student ID or entrance exam approval certificate. In my case, the entrance exam results came out in the beginning of March, which gave me next to no time to find an apartment. Luckily, I managed to secure myself a place within two weeks, but there was a problem: I had to leave the school dorm that I was living in on the 26th of March, no delays allowed, yet my contract with the new apartment in Tokyo would only begin on April 1st. I also had to be in Tokyo on March 30th and April 1st for guidance and admission procedures. No, these could not be done online (Japan do be like that).
So my solution was: I would go to Tokyo on the 30th and stay at a hotel for three days until I could move into my new apartment. In that meantime, I would get myself a bed so that I at least had a place to sleep until I could settle my stuff into the new home. And from the 26th to the 30th, I stayed at a friend's place. Except my friend's apartment was too tiny to accomodate my luggage, so I packed everything into boxes and asked another friend to keep it for me. During these three days, I stappled my name and address onto the suitcases and boxes and mailed them one by one to Tokyo via convenience store delivery service.
From April 1st onward, all of my time was dedicated into learning how my university works and what the grad school program is like, while simultaneously getting my new home ready. Which meant unpacking all my luggage and boxes and putting everything in place, assembling the new bed, purchasing home appliances and setting them up, getting a Wi-Fi router, cleaning up the room and getting rid of bugs/mold, buying material for the new school year, grocery shopping for a basic pantry, etc. Meanwhile, I also had to do all the fun paperwork thing that Japanese institutions love. Had to go to the city hall, both in Osaka before moving and in Tokyo after moving, in order to get my new address on my residence card and a new health care insurance. And of course, the university also requires paperwork, as in course registration, notification of Master's thesis title and submitting a copy of my certificate of residence to prove that I now live in Tokyo. All of this took about ten days. And then classes started.
It's been a week since the beginning of the semester. I can say that I'm now fully acclimated to the university, the classes and the teachers. Finally, I can rest. And by rest I mean logging into this pit of insanity and willingly losing whatever braincells I have left.
Starting by answering the asks that I've left unanswered all this time. I'm very sorry for the delay and thanks for bearing with me!

If someone wants a baby so badly they are willing to commit fraudulent acts that could follow the kid for life, they shouldn't have a kid in the first place.
https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2024-05-06/chinas-health-body-probes-hospital-after-surrogacy-claims
HONG KONG (Reuters) - China's National Health Commission said it was investigating a hospital in the southwest megacity of Chongqing for its alleged involvement in surrogacy, which is illegal in China, after wide circulation of the issue on social media.
The incident comes after a series of official investigations last year related to the issuance of fake birth certificates at a time when China is trying to boost its birth rate.
Chongqing Angel Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital has been cooperating with illegal surrogacy agencies, a post on Chinese social media platform Weibo said on Sunday.
Surrogate mothers would use forged ID cards to give birth in the hospital and forged birth certificates would be made after the babies were born, according to the post, made by a user called Shangguan Zhengyi, who describes himself as a volunteer fighting child trafficking.
A team had been set up to investigate and verify the situation, the local Chongqing health committee said in a statement on its website on Sunday in response to the post.
"Once verified, it (the hospital) will be dealt with seriously in accordance with laws and regulations."
Chongqing Angel Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital did not immediately respond to a faxed request for comment.
The Weibo post on the hospital was one of the top trending items on Monday, drawing hundreds of comments.
"This industry always seems to have existed," said one comment by a user called Wensheng. Another user called XJ said: "This is an industrial chain, not something that can be accomplished by one person."
China said last year it would "severely crack down" on illegal activities related to the use of assisted reproductive technologies such as the buying or selling of sperm or eggs and surrogacy.
It suspended a hospital and judicial institute in Wuhan in November after they were accused of surrogacy and issuing fake paternity results.
Birth certificates are required in China for obtaining household registration and are necessary for vaccinations, medical insurance enrolment and application for a social security card.
