TL;DR: I think Monroe's striking and chiming clocks were underutilized for truly hilarious interruptions when the hour strikes and 5 or so clocks announce it in sync.

I think we've all looked over a very important detail in Nick having stayed over at Monroe's for a time. I feel like I REALLY want someone to explore this in a fanfiction of some sort.

Monroe has several "striking" clocks in his house. A striking clock (or just clock for those who differentiate clocks as striking and timepieces as non-striking) makes sounds every hour, half hour, or can chime every quarter hour depending on the number of mechanisms.

Monroe obviously has a grandfather clock (or grandmother clock as I'm not sure the height of it) thanks to him telling Hap not to touch it. So that is definitely a striking and chime clock. Or has the potential to be as such if it's not silenced. He also has potentially more than one cuckoo clock.

Can you imagine the absolute terror of a person who has never been in a house with more than one striking clock as it hits the hour or half hour for the first time.

Now, ideally Monroe will have silenced most of his clocks. I don't know. I don't have any working clocks. I don't know how most horologists do things at their private homes. If they find the striking nostalgic or welcomed. But let's err on the side that Monroe has been living alone for a long time and actually does find a few chimes and striking nostalgic after growing up with it as his dad seemed to also be into clocks.

Let's layer this with the fact that Nick has very sensitive hearing (though I'm not sure when that happens. I could have my timelines wrong). Despite that, you're just getting to sleep at around 11pm or midnight and for some reason have been oblivious to or accepting of the chimes during the day. Or this is your first night in your friend, Monroe's, house and suddenly the first floor below you erupts in various chimes and tunes.

Can you imagine?!

I'm actually kind of astounded that this was never properly explored in the. In not one scene does any of Monroe's clocks strike despite how long everyone is at his house. I mean, if I had clocks I'd at least appreciate one of them striking.

The point is, I really want to either write or read a fanfiction where either Rosalee or Nick or Hank experiences the sound of an hour in the most unexpected way and grumpily complains to a completely and adorably oblivious Monroe.

(It would also have been a great gag if in the middle of a dramatic conversation it struck the top of the hour and Monroe patiently waits for his clocks to sound off before continuing. And Nick/whoever he's talking to is just like "Seriously dude?" And he's like, "What? ...fine! I'll silence them. Jeez! I didn't ask you to be here anyway, man!")

Welcome to the first ever Succession Dog Show

Contestants have been split into seven groups for the first of three rounds. The second round will have the same groups, with just the top three from the first round. Then the winner of each group will move on to the final round‚ which will also include special guest Mondale Roy. Also, Marcia is the judge because <3 and I say so.

In each group there are five succession characters plus three more normal dogs because I didn’t think five was enough and also I think it’s funny that it’s a possibility that none of the characters make it to the final round.

Connor and Jaskier

Just an idea inspired by a post saying Connor should be allowed to wield a sword by @celestialtoy

Connor gets sucked through a portal somehow and ends up in The Witcher (Netflix) universe. After a few missteps, he realizes he definitely needs to pass as both a human and not a complete weirdo. He trades his modern clothes for local ones with a confused but delighted tailor.

Jaskier is running from the Mountain Divorce. On his way to Oxenfurt, he has to camp out near the road. Without Geralt, the night is too cold and too empty. Then he hears movement (freaks out a little) and whistling. He goes to the road and finds a young man traveling alone. In the dark. He has no weapons, no food, no supplies.

"What are you doing out here?" Jaskier asks.

"I am walking to Oxenfurt," Connor responds.

"In the middle of the night?"

Connor looks around. The terrain is rocky, and there is little light from the moon. Right. This is not something a human would do.

Jaskier just thinks this is the recklessness of youth (which certainly isn't something he's familiar with). He invites the clearly lost man to camp with him and they travel together to the next village.

A village of mostly elves that is, obviously, having bandit trouble. Jaskier gets in their faces out of habit. And then realizes Geralt isn't there to back up his threats. Not reckless at all.

Bandit goes to punch Jaskier in his beautiful little face, but Connor intercepts. There is quite a brawl. Weapons are drawn. Connor picks up a piece of junk sword and handily beats everyone.

"Wow," Jaskier says. "That was great. Where'd you train sword fighting?"

Connor looks at the sword in his hand. "Never used one before in my life."

Jaskier and Connor decide to travel together. Well, Jaskier decides. Connor's not great at saying no. And he's lonely. He misses Hank, and he's alone in a strange world. He fiddles with his collar since he doesn't have a tie and does coin tricks to amuse locals.

But Jaskier's not an idiot. He eventually realizes that Connor doesn't eat and rarely sleeps. Even when he does sleep, it's... odd. Too still.

"You're not human, are you?"

"I... am."

"It's okay if you're not. I've got loads of friends that aren't human."

"Oh."

"You don't have to tell me. But I'm not gonna hurt you or anything."

"I'm... an android."

"Alright, so I don't actually know what that is."

"It's, I'm, a robot. Or, I don't know, an automaton."

"Oh, like a golem."

"Yes!"

"But golems don't talk. Or think. Or look like people."

"Oh. Well, where I'm from, they do."

"Are you from a different sphere?!"

"How did you figure that out?"

"Please, I am educated in the seven liberal arts, you know. And I know all the sorceresses on the Continent." And a witcher, he doesn't say. "Wait, are you headed to Aretuza to try and get someone to get you home?!"

"Yes!"

"Oh, definitely do not do that. Someone will definitely realize you're not human and will try to dissect you or something."

"Oh."

"Look, we'll find Triss or Keira or someone. We'll get you home."

And when Connor smiles at him, Jaskier knows he's in trouble.

At some point, there's a griffon. Connor takes a hunting bow from a seller while the griffon is turning for another fly-by attack.

"Uh, Connor. Connor, griffon!" Jaskier shouts as he ducks under an awning. "Have you ever used a bow before?”

"No." Connor tugs on the string and bends the bow to feel the tension in both. The griffon dives for him. He draws an arrow. He shoots the griffon directly through its eye and into its brain. The beast falls and skids along the ground only to stop inches from Connor's feet. "But it seems pretty self-explanatory."

And there's romance, because they're both suckers. Jaskier is in love with Geralt, who doesn't want him around anymore. Connor is in love with Hank, who he never quite got the courage to confess to. But they've both come to enjoy and trust each other too.

Connor gets very embarrassed when Jaskier tries to initiate something physical. He admits that he doesn't have any of the parts Jaskier would be used to seeing.

Jaskier takes this as a challenge. He helps Connor explore his own body to find sensitivities and points of pleasure. Connor, it turns out, likes having the seam around his thirium pump teased. He loves when Jaskier buries his fingers into the hidden port of the back of his neck. Jaskier learns what static sounds like that day. Connor is too shy at first to let Jaskier see his white chassis underneath his synthskin. But it fades in spots during sex, and Jaskier is fascinated and delighted. Connor's shyness disappears quickly in the face of Jaskier's sincerity.

And Jaskier, well. When Connor bodily lifts Jaskier up against a tree and hooks his thighs over his shoulders to take Jaskier into his mouth, Jaskier nearly loses it. He's ten feet in the air, using a branch to not tip over, and Connor has no gag reflex. Melitele have mercy.

But eventually they find a sorceress willing to break several laws of nature on a whim. They get Connor home. A portal opens in the bull pen of the Detroit Police Department in the middle of a work day.

Hank, who has been working himself to nothing for the past month trying to find Connor, quite reasonably freaks the fuck out. He's not alone. Then Connor steps through.

"Oh God. Connor." Hank no longer cares about the hole in time and space next to his desk. He pulls Connor into his arms.

Then Jaskier steps in behind him. "Wow. This is... different. Oh hello." Jaskier waves at several gawking officers.

Connor turns to hug Jaskier goodbye. "I'll miss you, Jaskier."

"Yeah, I'll miss you too, Connor." Then he looks at Hank. "You must be Hank."

Hank nods confusedly.

"You be good for him, yeah?"

He will. He absolutely will.

"Good man, then." Jaskier turns back, and the portal closes behind him.

Reed: "What the fuck just happened?!"

He’s not expecting her to do anything for him-- as much as he might feel that protective pull towards her-- and certainly not something this clever and somehow perfect. He appreciates practical gifts and what can possibly be more practical than food? But it’s still simple enough that he doesn’t feel bad for accepting it ( with a smile and a gesture towards the other chair at his desk ).

“You didn’t have to do this.” Said in such a way that it’s clear he’s flattered she put the thought into it. “The coffee here is pretty bad, but I’ve got someone with good sense on his way to bring something not burned to a crisp.” He’s already reaching for his phone, straight to recent contacts to search up his caffeine lifeline. 

“Want me to put in an order for you? You can stay and help me eat these.” And maybe keep him company for a while.

VERSE: Detroit: Become Human

Griffon’s verse for DBH dates to pre-game and pushes to post. It involves relationships with both Hank Anderson and Elijah Kamski though these relationships can be altered depending on the writer and their muse. Right these these are pre-discussed and determined with @goddamnitconnor and @deviancybydesign Not all of these characters have to follow these predetermined relationships, they are simply welcome to follow the preset or write something new. Just as any DPD officer rp character, Connors and rk900′s have the full option of either knowing him from around the precinct in post game encounters, or may meet him through the precinct.

Main Ending: Peaceful 

Griffon was born in 2003 - Marie was born in 2006

Neither grew up around androids, his parents didn’t need them or care for them, and the area they were in just typically wasn’t as flush as detroit.

They originally lived in California when a horrific accident occurred, which put Marie into a vegetative state in 2025. 

2028 - Griffon made his first contact with Elijah Kamski. After several months and one entire 80 page thesis on why Elijah should help him, Griffon and the man came together. Providing his own research and knowledge, funding parts and slipping money where he could, he began his relationship with Elijah on the basis of making the most human android possible. Through this, the research of transferring human consciousness into the android form was also pushed into light between them. This interaction has always been kept a tight knit secret, no one knows about this. 

2030 - They began work and came out with a brand new creation. The android that they made was the privately filed mw100, aka Marie, and she was a deviant.

Griffon bought a home in Detroit by 2030 and began the building of his clinic which features floors for a pharmacy ( on a basement level ), a shelter as well as floors for children’s treatment and adult’s treatment. Griffon employed a handful of Detroit natives to work here.

Construction ended in 2031 and the building was fully employed and opened by 2033.

The DPD and the Pierce-Weiss Clinic for Mental Health began working together in 2034. Griffon and some of his employees would come to work with law enforcement after incidents of tragedy, assessment and therapy paid for by the DPD itself, through the PWCMH.

2035 - Griffon and Marie met Lt. Hank Anderson, Griffon taking on Hank’s case file after the loss of his son in a serious accident.  Griffon began his work with Hank and would work with him on and off up until the events of the game.

2038 - When the protests began, all portions outside of the shelter were closed and employees were given a ‘vacation’ to keep them safe. The building did face vandalism, but Griffon simply watched and let things unfold. He supports the androids and their cause, hoping that the androids could integrate into the world and live as peacefully as Marie had all those years, under the assumption she was human.

2039 - The psychiatric clinic becomes the first android-human mental health center, and the shelter is offered to android’s and humans seeking to rebuild themselves and work on the rehoming process for currently homeles androids.

Griffon has a large interest in New Jericho, their function and reaches out to the leaders. ( North, Simon, Markus and Josh ) They are given resources through the clinic and are welcomed in with open arms, also offering services to those who may need it.

2040 - The Real Marie is successfully transferred. Upon waking up, she listens to all that’s gone on in 15 years. She sounds tired, and sore, and cold. She declines the second chance at life, and chooses to go back to sleep permanently, she doesn’t harbor any bad feelings, but shares that she’s ready to be with her parents and brother. Griffon keeps Marie’s twin, but winds up in a damaged place for a while.

-Tiffany the 17 year old reception intern, who took the job because her parents made her and would rather be off playing Griffons (alone, because the friends she started playing it with in elementary school all got drawn away by sports and makeup and boys and college applications) in the hills and fields outside of town. Her character is Nightfyre, a griffon with raven parts instead of eagle parts and snow leopard parts instead of lion parts, who is a vampire, but a good one

-Hank from sales, the "funny guy", who is actually a convict from the post-apocalyptic future who was offered a pardon by the fragmented remains of the US government if he goes back in time, infiltrates WalCorp and prevent it from releasing a plague. Except that Hank Pulaski, bachelor and Poughkeepsie's foremost Bon Jovi fan, feels more real than Twitch Milligan, wasteland scavenger and smuggler, ever did; a garbled message from his own time implied that time might be a closed, immutable loop and that Hank Pulaski always existed (and never succeeded) in the early 21st century; and also he's fallen in love (or possibly just sexual obsession) with Theodore Wallace, the company's octogenarian founder and owner.

-Claudia from HR, who's constantly trying to invite co-workers over to drink Fresca and marathon Witchblade, and on winter vacations goes to an abandoned lighthouse in New England to sing an a capella version of the sax solo from Careless Whisper out to the vast grey sea, often impassively observed by a group of seals

“Hey, Gary sends his love and told me to tell you he misses his favorite customer.” Words are coupled with food as she sets down both a burger and pineapple soda in front of him. “Wouldn’t wait too long. Dude’s the best but his food tends to suck after it gets cold and I’m not covering for you again if Connor asks whose burger this is.” This of course is said as she takes a seat of her own to pop a fry in her mouth. “Or Griffon for that matter. I’m an enabler but I don’t think they’re wrong.”

His attention is easily pulled away from the mundane task of sorting through piles of pictures, all targeted at various angels onto a body that is very much lifeless and just a little mangled, for the sake of hoping to find another clue that he and the other officers working the case overlooked the first hundred times. It’s mind-melting ( makes studying for tests in school seem like skimming through a magazine article ) and he welcomes the break he probably should have taken hours ago.

It might take his ass three extra hours to show up, but once he’s settled and involved in an investigation, he normally forgets to even breathe half the time. Let alone eat and piss and start shit with Gavin, which are all very necessary requirements of his daily functioning.

An eyebrow shoots up at the mention of Connor and Griffon ( both of who would absolutely scold him for the horribly greasy, delicious, deathly meal ), but he doesn’t seem too worried– indicated by immediately grabbing, unwrapping, and taking a huge bite out of the burger. He also doesn’t mind the small stream of grease, ketchup, and one, long, fried onion dripping into the wrapper below although he does at least snatch a couple of the napkins to wipe away any particles that might have wedged themselves in his beard once he finally stops to take a breath.

“If every day didn’t kill me, once in a while won’t. Besides,” a brief intermission while he fries up, “between Griff gettin’ me up at the crack ass of dawn to work out and Connor throwing ‘heart-healthy’ recipes in my face every time I walk through the door, I’m lucky if I remember what one of these even tastes like most of the time.”

He’s doing that very Hank thing where he, for all intents and purposes, appears to be lamenting his position in the whole thing– but he still gets out of bed and he still (usually) cooks the food. And even though he’d probably throw a fit if he was told he was never allowed to have one of the burgers again, he doesn’t live for it the way he used to.
