#HE KNOWS THAT BRETT IS ALWAYS KIND AND SUPPORTIVE OF OTHERS

Note
even though i havent been able to see the new season yet ive seen clips of reagan hugging brett
like
like thats just so sweet to me 😭 like that just shows how theyve grown as friends
oop ill try not to spoil you too much, might put spoilery stuff in tags so you can ignore it- but yeah, i adore character developments in part 2, Reagan growing more comfortable to phisical touch with her gang and Brett especially has me feeling on cloud 9, Brett knew about her problems, listened and was never pushy with her, only genuine respect and support and that (as well as the Ron plot) looks very much like a boring cliche on paper, but the show handled it magnificently, the way it didnt feel redundant, cheap or annoying and im super pleased with it

i’m seeing so little nuance when it comes to this whole noah schnapp thing. i know everyone gets mad when you say you are in the middle but i just genuinely don’t understand what’s going on. i’m opposed to any and all violence and disgusted by the acts committed by israel and hamas. i know i’m not fully aware but it’s genuinely so confusing idk how people expect everyone to know.
i think what noah did is gross still. it’s not just because of his views, but the fact he was making a joke about it when it’s a horrific and serious tragedy. but people see it so black and white? if you read noah’s posts it’s clear he is opposed to violence in general, and to me the whole ‘zionism is sexy’ thing is an example of him being misinformed and incredibly insensitive.
but then people are calling him murderous and claiming he and others support actual genocide? they say ‘oh he’s old enough to understand’ but genuinely i think he just doesn’t understand the full extent of the situation, like many others. to imply that someone like noah genuinely wants tons of people to die is just a bit absurd to me. i’m no mind reader but to me he just seems to not understand the situation, and is just defending what he thinks is right because of his religion and probably family. i don’t think he supports genocide, i don’t think he understands that what he is supporting is genocide and is misinformed that it’s some kind of just response.
Not going crazy and being hesitent is a good first response. As is admitting when you don't know everything. You are not motivated by hate, that is obvious and great! But
Noah did not make any insensitive jokes. At all. He did literally nothing. Being in the same room as a "Zionism is sexy" sticker is not an action to take nor a joke to make. Him and people like Brett Gelman and other visible jews being attacked is pure antisemitism, which is a ridiculously widespread sentiment, as I was forced to discover.
Zionism is genuinely sexy. I mean it is completely inoffensive. What is evil is trying to frame zionism as an evil conspiracy. It's s Jew hating conspiracy theory. Zionism means support of Israel's existence.
No one should eDUcaTe theMseLvEs by consuming and parroting jew hating conspiracy theories. It is quite easy to do so these days, but it is not right. Noah already understands the situation better.
Israel was attacked and is the victim first. It deserves solidarity.
Israel destroying Hamas is a just response. And frankly their duty. As the terrorists attacked their citizens and haven't stopped and promised to do it again and again. Promised genocide.
Israel is not committing a genocide. It is winning a war of self defence, thank god.
War sucks, though. The reality of it is always horrible to behold.
Hamas is doing their absolute worst as always and absolute best to get as many Palestinians killed as possible, including straight up shooting them themselves if they are "stealing" "their" food or trying to get to safety thereby not working as human shields. They are fucking evil, the scum of the earth.
There is no question who a well-meaning person should support here.
PS: Netanjahu is not a great guy, but Israel is a great country and in the right here. Let Bibi win the war, then I hope for a new Israeli government and lasting peace!

Happy Birthday Scottish actress Laurie Brett.
Laurie was born in Hamilton on 28th March 1969. After her initial education in Scotland she studied at London Studio Centre a dance and theatre school providing courses in, ballet, modern dance and music, among other things.
While she was studying she earned her living as a bouncer in a nightclub, as an usherette and as a stage technician.
She toured with a travelling circus in Mexico and Central America with Circo Magico and studied at the London Studio Centre. She starred in fringe productions and made her television debut in London’s Burning (as an office girl) in 1992. Her singing and dancing skills made her a regular in the musical theatre and she appeared in several television advertisements. Laurie admits to having been a bit of a wild child, carrying on the Scottish tradition of drinking heavily for 20 years.
When Laurie moved to London she adopted the accent to help win parts, but in her everyday life she still speaks in a Scottish accent, she said she has always had a “knack” with accents, Waterloo Road fans will remember that home accent when she was in the series for 3 years. Brett has never been shy of talking about her home town, but she is still surprised by how many people don't realise she is a Scot and said in an interview in 2013 that she loves to watch people's reactions when she speaks in a Scottish accent. She added "When I am in London I tend to have a London accent, when I speak to my mum, Anne, I talk pure Hamilton and when I speak to my Aussie mates I end up talking like them.
Other shows Laurie has appeared in are The Bill, My Hero, London Kills, Traces, and Deadwater Fell alongside the popular Scottish actor David Tennant, she last popped up in the Hospital drama Holby city last year. Brett and her onscreen hubbie from Eastenders recently teamed up together on stage in a thriller called Looking Good Dead. On a possible return to the soap she said. If I was free and they wanted me back, who knows? If you’ve not been killed off then there’s always the possibility of a return. “
Laurie appeared in season 8 of the popular Scottish crime drama Shetland, she is joining the touring cast of Calendar Girls the musical, playing Annie Clarke.
Laurie has been inundated with support after opening up on recent surgery. She wrote: social media sharing photo from her hospital bed saying, "We have to ring fence & protect our NHS.....from any politics.. An all party agreement. Thanks especially to Nicole for post op care. Thanks to everyone. Additionally, her husband said that he was sharing all the kind messages Laurie had received with her while she rested..

Not a fan of Dawson, not a fan of Brett, wanted to add my 3 cents.
Brett used to be afraid that she was the substitute for Dawson and the writers didn’t make it easier for her. We can all argue as much as we want, but so much of brettsey storylines were used for Dawsey. Come on, wedding reception at Molly’s? I’ve seen somewhere on tumblr that someone suggested Brett’s parents farm and it would be so unique and no one will say anything about Cass first wedding because there wouldn’t be anything similar about it.
And yeah, those kind of relationships happen in real life but it is still strange. People talk about Brett being at dawsey’s wedding because it makes you realise that they weren’t just strangers who work together, they were really close.
I don’t want to say who was better friend. They both made so many mistakes. The last call when Brett left Gabby with a patient? They could be their worst enemies - the patient comes first! And yes, Brett for supporting Dawson when it came to her marriage, same as Dawson supported Brett when she thought she was pregnant with Antonio or when whole drama with Hope happened (Gabby backed Brett, not Stella and we know who was right).
But my biggest problem is saying that Brett and Casey are meant to be. Call it what you want, but this is a lie. Come on, before season 7 they barely talked to each other, Casey even said he didn’t want to know anything about Brett’s love life. Writers making Brett saying she loved him from the beginning? When he was in relationship with another woman? Didn’t she say she was happy for them? Make their story great, but don’t change the history of what happened on a show before 🤷🏼‍♀️ and Kara saying that Casey wasn’t the only one who didn’t ask her to compromise? He literally asked her to move to Portland with him after they dated for like six weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️ not to mention I was impressed that she decided to stay, that she didn’t want to change her life for a man and yet it’ll be her legacy after all, she moved for a man. Again 🤦🏼‍♀️
That being said I agree that the main problem might be Casey - Dawson and Brett both changed when they started dating him so maybe it’s all his fault 🤷🏼‍♀️
I agree with a couple of things of this, but disagree with the majority.
I really get annoyed with the molly's reception argument because it's Molly's. It's a staple of Chicago fire. And before it had a d*wsey reception there, it had a Plouch wedding, just re emphasizing it's a place that events for the 51 family happen.
And it's stated that they only have the reception there because they didn't have the proper aquarium venue, where if they did, that's where the reception would be held. So even then the argument barely holds any real weight.
I also disagree that they weren't meant to be together. Yes, say if you take them in season five, at that point in both of their lives, they were not. But that doesn't negate that they're meant to be together, it was just important for them to have that journey to get to that point. But one thing that remains true is that Sylvie has always respected Matt. I mean, you can't work at 51 without doing so.
And he literally never asked her to compromise. He was fine with her not moving to Portland. He never wanted or expected her to compromise who she is and what she wants. And she's NOT moving for a man, she's moving because it's right for her family.
Also misogynistic of you to say that despite you're disappointed she didn't stick with her original choice to say all while reducing her legacy to her relationship. Sylvie Brett's legacy will be her kindness, her strength, her love for 51, her adoption of Julia... these are all things that will be her legacy.
Thank you for asking.

[100623 云外一朵云 weibo post]
translation of op's post; bolded text is op's original english.
I'll share an answer from today's Q&A. I remember their answer very clearly, because this question is something I've been thinking about for a long time as well. The person who asked the question is a guy, and he and his girlfriend are both studying music, majoring in the same instrument. He asked Twoset if they get competitive all the time, or argue who is better, and how do they deal with it?
Brett's answer was basically that he doesn't really have these feelings, because when you're on stage you're too nervous to care about how well others perform. "I just get really nervous."
Next was Eddy's answer. I almost cried over his answer, it had too many moments of sincerity. I'm sharing it because it feels so precious. (I was only able to remember this portion; Eddy actually said more than this, and I may have missed a few sentences here and there, but the essential meaning of what he said is pretty much intact.)
"I have two ways of thinking about this actually. I have the practical answer which is interacting normal day life and I have like the bigger picture what I think about relationships. So I think in life, meeting people that are genuinely close that you form like lifelong relationships with is something that's so rare, so meaningful, and that to me is always gonna be more precious than winning some competition by someone that you can trust that you know you guys will support each other. And for me, like for Brett, for example, I think it's always that you should want the best for the other person. And you should also know that they want the best for you. And so you know if you see someone else exceed, let's say for example, he won the Bach prize and I didn't, even if in the moment I feel a little bit like jealous or envious, I'm not saying I don't remember how I felt, but if I did I think I've done that you should still commit. There's something you can practice, actually just practice being like: no, I'm going to congratulate them. I'm gonna feel happy for them, because I want the best for them."
At this point I was already crying in my heart (who would know). Then maybe Eddy's answer had sparked more of Brett's thoughts, so Brett added, "You might feel it (envy), it's okay to feel it, you don't need to think 'Oh my god! I'm a bad person,' just kind of be like, 'okay what's there,' but I'm not gonna act on it, and I shouldn't respond to it, I just look at it. It's a 'Hi, envy.'"
I don't know what else I can do to describe this conversation with my poor language, because it's just what Twoset is. I'm thankful to them.

The Strad Ep. 18 with Brett Yang
Me and Ash worked together to transcribe this for anyone who wanted to read it!
[Davina]: Hi and welcome to the Strad Podcast! I’m Davina Shum, I’m a cellist, and I’m the online editor at The Strad. Regular visitors to thestrad.com will know that TwoSet Violin celebrated a significant milestone late in 2022. Upon reaching 4 million subscribers on YouTube, the violin-comedy duo put on a performance of a lifetime with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, with Brett Yang playing the Mendelssohn violin concerto and Eddy Chen joining him later for the Bach Double. Not only this, but for the occasion, Tarisio loaned the pair two Stradivari Violins from 1708 –The Empress Caterina, and the Regent Superb. What an opportunity!
Brett and I chatted recently about his experience playing this marvellous instrument,  what it taught him about his playing, as well as other instruments he’s played throughout his career. Here he is.
Brett, welcome to the Strad Podcast! Wonderful to have you here today. You’re joining me from Singapore so it’s quite a global collaboration today. First of all, let’s talk a little bit about instruments that you’ve played throughout your lifetime, throughout your career. Readers of the Strad will know that you’ve been lucky enough recently to play the 1708 Empress Caterina Stradivari violin for your four million subs concert in November 2022. So, a wonderful opportunity, but opportunities like that don’t just come out of nowhere – there’s a build-up to that. So, tell me a little bit about your first instruments that you played.
Brett: Well, sure! First of all, thank you for having me on board. And thank you to all the Strad listeners out there. It’s an honour to be here. Violins! It’s always interesting, I felt like when you grow up as a kid, you kind of just get passed an instrument. And you just go along with it, right. And as you grow, and as you learn, practising more and more, you start developing [an] awareness for, let’s say, quality of sound. Or, type of violin you’re playing, the playability of it, things like that.
My first full-sized instrument was a Scrollavezza, and I hadn’t changed for, honestly, a good… 16 years. 17– 18– 17 years. Sorry, I’m just adding numbers up. So, about 17 years, I played on the Scrollavezza. As a student, shout-out to my parents, actually, for helping me buy that instrument. It’s definitely… They’re very supportive. I think definitely when you play an instrument this long, you start growing with it, right? And a Scrollavezza, like … the violins change over time. The sounds change over time. So, that was kind of my first instrument. I never had many experiences playing multiple instruments. Because… back then, I was just really focused on practising. So, it was just whatever I had, then, right. Fast forward to now, I mean, right now I play on a Widenhouse, which is a new violin.
But talking about the Strad, that’s super interesting! That was on loan by Tarisio. We went to New York last year, in 2022, in April. We visited Tarisio to make a video out of it, I think they were auctioning the Da Vinci Stradivari. So they had us there to, you know, play a bit, share to our audiences what the world of instruments is like. Talking about Stradivaris, Guarneris,  and all these makers. Because, there are a lot of people out there that don’t know who these makers are, actually, from our audience. So, I think they really find it fascinating how crazy expensive it can be, right. Because it’s almost like a collectible, it’s like Picasso, in terms of art works. Things like that.
The Strad [for the four million concert] came about when I reached out to Carlos, so shout-out to Carlos. I was like, “Hey, we’re doing this concert, what does it look like when you loan instruments?” and Carlos was like, “Hm, how about we get you a couple of Strads?” and I was like, “Sounds fine by me!” [laughs]
Davina: “Yeah, okay, yeah.”
Brett: “Yeah, sure, why not?”
People always ask, did we get to choose or not? I kind of left it in his hands; I knew he would pick great instruments for us. Stradivaris, I mean – – at this point, I don’t really care. It’s a Stradivari, that’s, you can’t really complain, right? And Carlos picked two violins for Eddy and myself, both from 1708. So I played the Empress Caterina, and Eddy played on the Regent. Now, I’ve been fortunate enough to play on Strads before, in videos, so I’ve had a slight taste of what it was like, playing Strads. But I’ve never had a Strad for, you know, a longer time. To practise on, to get to know. You know, I was asking like, a lot of soloists, Hilary, Ray, “Hey, what is it like playing on a Strad? Are there any tips?” A lot of them were just saying, look, it takes time to get used to. You have to spend time, you have to play it more. And that was definitely something I experienced. You have to change technique in a very delicate way to adapt to a Strad. And, you hear these stories, “Oh, a Strad, you can’t just kind of force the sound out, or really play into the string like a Guarneri  or Vuillaume, you have to kind of let it sing by itself”. And that was definitely the experience.
So I actually changed my technique a little bit during the month leading up to the concert. And that was very scary. So, even though it was a Strad, I was also very nervous because I was not familiar with it.
Davina: That’s interesting, isn’t it. I’ve heard the same thing about Strads as well. I’ve not played a Strad cello before, that may change one day, who knows [laughs], but I have heard that definitely it takes getting used to. That’s exactly what people say, it’s not always smooth sailing. In a way, it kind of plays you, the instrument and you, you’re playing, you have to sort of meet… in the middle. I know you’ve just said you had to change your technique in a certain way. What sort of techniques did you have to change? In terms of the right hand, the left hand?
Brett: Yeah, I like what you said – it’s almost like a dance together with the instrument. You can’t just lead all the time, you have to work with your partner on a dance floor, right? It kind of felt like that. The biggest change I noticed, actually, was in my right hand, bow arm. The left hand had some changes, mainly just, you know, typical intonation, spacing issues, when you're shifting up and down. The size of the violin is slightly different to the violin I normally play on. But, the bow really was the big change for me. The Strad just would not give way. If I decide to press a little bit too hard, it kind of just won’t give me the colourful, velvery sound it has, that this Empress Caterina had. And so, it really taught me how to approach my bow technique, actually. Because after playing on a Strad for a month, I’ve noticed my sound production is better.
Davina: Right, when you go back to your other instrument, you mean?
Brett: Yes. Because I’m trying to recreate that same sound. And a Strad really told me how to make that sound.
Davina: That’s interesting. So, was it a change of, you know – I mean, we can get quite technical here, because it’s string players. But you know, in terms of contact point, or like, pressure, like, what sort of things had to change? And also, how much of it was to do with the setup? I’m aware that the setup back in 1708 would have been very different, the way that people would have approached the strings, presumably gut strings, would have been quite different because you really have to coax the sound out of a string, in that way. You know, you can’t press into gut strings because your instrument will just say, “No, thank you.” How much of the setup has an influence on the way you produce the sound?
Brett: Oh, a lot! Honestly, I couldn’t make any changes – I was too scared. You know, I was like, “Ooh, maybe I could…” You know, tweaking the sound post, and things like that, it was too close to the concert. But, in terms of, like, the setup and the technique, I had to use a lot more bow, in terms of bow speed. My distribution of my bow weight had to change a lot too. So, I really had to kind of change my bowing technique in a way where when I was playing piano, soft, I wasn’t just lightening the bow up, I was actually removing weight. It’s very hard to explain. It’s like, there’s still weight,so you still have that fullness in that tone…
Davina: Yeah.
Brett: But I think that’s what they talk about, what they say about pianists: your softness has to project to the end of the hall.
Davina: Yeah, that’s the hard thing about playing piano – soft — It sounds like we’re talking about the instrument.
[both laugh]
Davina: Yes, piano is very hard. But that’s the difficult thing about playing soft, isn’t it, to have that core, that still focused centre of the sound, but at a lower dynamic. And it can hurt physically if you’re not doing it correctly, right.
Brett: Exactly! And it can’t sound like it’s whispery, or like you lost contact point… [sighs] fluffy, right. It needs to still have that core in the sound. And the Strad really taught me how to do that. I mean, I’m no professional at it, but it really taught me how to create that sound. And it was a new sound, actually. It taught me, you know, it’s like you have to know what you want in order to be able to create that sound you want. If you can’t hear it, it’d be pretty hard to make that sound. So the Strad kind of gave me guidance in the type of tone I like. And actually, I’ll be honest, when I first played it – this is going to sound crazy – when I first played the Empress Caterina, I wasn’t so sure if I liked the tone. But very quickly, I started understanding it more and more. It was almost like my ears hadn’t developed the understanding for the sound I’m hearing. And then literally over the course of a month, wow, I heard the difference when I went back to my violin. I was like, no way! It’s undisputable, the tone is so much more complex. It offers a lot more colour, you know. But, when I first played it, I couldn’t hear it.
Davina: Yeah, I could imagine that if you were new to a Strad, and you have this sound, and initially, you just think, “Oh I don’t like this sound because it’s unfamiliar”, but, what it does offer, if you allow yourself to open up to it, is that it’s got [a] much wider colour palette.
Brett: Yes.
Davina: And it enables you to discover those, but you have to put in the work to actually find those colours and develop your ear, in that sense.
Brett: Yes.
Davina: I mean, I wanted to ask you a little bit about the approach to a very old instrument like this – 1708 – compared with modern instruments. You know, you mentioned the instruments you’ve played, that you currently play, and also the Scrollavezza. I’ve played a cello by him, before, once. I tried one out.
Brett: Oh, wow!
Davina: I met his daughter in Cremona, I met her, and I played her father’s cello from 2000. So, presumably, modern instruments, when you play an instrument where you’re the only owner to have had it, compared with a Strad or a [instrument from an] old Italian master that has been played by numerous hands before, you know. Tell me a little bit about how you think that has an impact on the instrument’s sound. You know,  you mentioned before about how, like, [a] modern instrument, it sort of grows, you sort of grow with it.
Brett: Well, [laughs], I’m wondering, “Oh my god, do I even deserve to play this Strad right no?” That’s the first thought. But I think in terms of the sound … [sighs] To be honest, there’s so many times where I … A soloist has played my instrument and it sounds completely different, and I’m just like “Huh, wow, I got to practise. It does not sound like the violin that I play on!” [laughs] That’s kind of the modern instrument’s side.
Davina: That’s kind of the weird thing, is hearing your own instrument back, because we’re not always in a position to do that. But someone recently played my instrument and I play a modern instrument from 2005, and I heard it and I was like, “What? That’s not what it sounds like!” I mean, there are other factors as well, the fact that it’s not right under your ear, and you’re at a distance, but it’s interesting, seeing how a different person approaches your–
Brett: Oh, for sure! And especially when you get soloist to play.  Eddy’s always like “Woah, I’ve never heard that from your violin before!”–
Davina: You’re like, ‘Oh, thanks.’ [laughs]
Brett: “–That does not sound lik– Oh thanks, thanks, thanks for that” [laughs]]
But I just think in terms of the Strad – it just seems like it’s more developed, over time. It’s a great maker, and time was on its side, on the violin’s side, right. And, it’s been played a lot more, and has a lot more colours to offer. Even the slightest bow change, the slightest pressure or weight that’s placed on it, different contact point. It’s very obvious that the sound has changed. And actually, the way I see it, the Strad kind of guides you do discover the sounds, which is what I mean by when I went back to my instrument. It kind of gave me tools to try to figure out how to make the sound I want, right. I started getting a bit more experimental. It’s, “Oh, okay, this is the type of sound I can make on this violin. Oh, this is the type of sound. Oh, it gives me …is kind of more … edgier sound if I’m here. Oh, here’s a bit of a more … rounder tone or warmer colour, you know, yellow, sunshine.” I don’t– things like that.
Davina: Kind of daunting, at first, because I imagine that when you’ve got something like this, you can kind of have multi-option anxiety, like ‘Oh my god, where on Earth do I start?’ I don’t know why this is the first example to come to my head, but, for example: if you have a drill with a thousand different drill bits, you just think, “Oh my goodness, like, what on Earth am I going to use all of these tiny little drill bits for?” Then, once you get a bit more education, and you understand maybe a little bit more about your craft, you’ll find the right drill bit for the right occasion.
Brett: Yes. And can I add also, I was very scared of hitting it, or dropping it, that is all very true. So actually, the first week, I was super wary of just, playing, even playing fortissimo. I know I’ve played violin for a really long time, but I just really didn’t want to chip it in the corner or do something like that. You know, of course it happens over time, it just happens, it’s normal, of course, sometimes you hit the side when you’re getting really into the piece. Everyone does it. But I just didn’t want to be that person. [laughs] In the first week anyway.
Davina: The instrument’s survived this long, this is not the end of the road, not with me!!Brett: Yeah, but that gge me a little bit of like– it made me a little bit anxious, at the beginning. Actually we made a video about it, funny enough, in the video I did, the tip of my bow hit the side of the Srad a little bit. Eddy was like “WOAH!” and I was like “NO!” So that was a bit of an experience.
Davina: Bit scary, yeah.
Brett: Bit scary.
Davina: Yeah, definitely. That would just be the time that your hand would just open involuntarily.
That was Brett Yang, and that was just an excerpt of our conversation. Keep an eye out on thestrad.com in the coming weeks for a series of web articles featuring Brett.

Violet Hakami & Evan Hawkins dating (for more than a few episodes) would include...
Tumblr media
A/N: Just my take on how their happily ever after could go (still sobbing over here so writing this gave me a little comfort. I hope it might cheer you up)
Violet definitely has an ugly christmas sweater competition with Ritter and Gallo
She thinks it‘s kind of dumb, but she participates anyway because why not??
So when she is out shopping with Evan she begins looking for the ugliest one she can find
And he is like ????
"You actually think these look good???"
So she tells him about the competition and he helps her pick one and it's never mentioned again
But then on Christmas Eve he shows up in the most horrendous sweater she has ever seen
And she is so shook??? Because it‘s Evan???
"I think I win this one.“
"Oh, you definitely do!"
The year after that they take the competition so serious they go shopping separately
and there is lots of banter and teasing involved ;)
Also Evan is really good at picking out gifts
Violet just gets something she thinks is a good fit but Evan can spend weeks weighing ideas until the finds the perfect one
And he does
Every single time
"Evan...I don't know what to say." :,)
She is always speechless and he thinks it‘s the best reward he can get, because it‘s so cute
And we all know making Violet Makami speechless is not an easy quest (That girl always got something to say)
"Just tell me I'm the best."
"Oh, you so are!"
At the end of her work day Violet usually vents to him about annoying patients or jokes that were pulled at 51
And he listenes quietly and grins (because he thinks she is so cute when she is mad) until she is done or his smile distracts her from what she was going to say next
"Stop it!"
"Stop what?"
"You know what! That thing that you're doing!"
"Smiling?"
"Exactly that. It's distracting!"
Evan is a really good listener
and he is very patient
Violet is more fierce and outgoing than him
so that's a match ;)
But even though he is the calmer one , sometimes he has to let off steam too (mostly it‘s about the paperwork)
One of his ways Violet really doesn't mind ;)
The other is the gym. They work out together regularly and he teachers her boxing
He goes for runs too, but Violet can‘t be bothered to join him
"There is good exercise and then there is running.“ He always grins at that
Violet takes him to a spinning class once (Brett introduced her to it) and he ends up loving it
When they have a tough call they always take the time to talk about it, because they both know how important that is
Usually Evan can sense if something happened just by the way Violet picks up the phone or when she comes home in a weird mood
"What's wrong?"
Lots of comfort
Cuddles
And hugs
"You know you can always talk to me about everything, right?"
"I do."
Evan is the big spoon
But when they make out Violet is the dominant one
She likes to mess with him and tease him
because she thinks it's so fun to get a reaction out of him
especially in public ;)
Also lots of chemistry talk (because she knows he is into that)
which in turn makes her feel very cool about it and not like a huge nerd
though she has learned Evan is such a nerd about tv shows
she is always more entertained by how into them he is than what actually happens on screen
And yeah she might have called him chief in bed once or twice (it was an accident….)
Let‘s just say he didn‘t mind
Since officially being out as a couple they go to Molly‘s regularly
Evan gets along with everyone, because he is such a likeable guy. Violet sometimes thinks it‘s annoying haha
"Is there anyone who doesn't like you?"
"I guess some do, yeah."
She rolls her eyes hard at that
They often hang out with Brett, because he still supports her on the paramedicine program
He introduces her to his friends too and they are not the uptight guys she imagined they might be (they think she is pretty cool and pretty hot Evan can‘t disagree on that one, though he prefers his friends not to call her that)
Violet is the sassy one in the relationship
But they both got the sarcastic comments down
They like to call each other by their last name if they are teasing
Also Evan does this leaning-against-a-wall-pose that Violet thinks is so hot
The worst part is he doesn‘t even realise he is doing it
After dating for a while he introduces her to his family and they all adore her
Now they keep bugging him about proposing
Which he will do (eventually)
Also Evan can cook
He sometimes tries to teach her but she‘s a mess
(Or maybe she isn‘t trying hard enough, because it‘s just so comfortable to let him cook for her)
and he doesn't mind at all (he says it relaxes him which she really doesn't get)
They don‘t see each other at work anymore, but sometimes he surprises her with a lunch date or pops in at 51 when he is off shift
Those are her favourite moments
Of course Mouch then made him cook for the whole firehouse which she got pretty mad about, but Evan didn’t even mind
"They are your family and I want them to like me.“
"As if they didn‘t adore you already.“
When he doesn't cook for them, he loves to take her out
Fancy restaurants
Chilling at the movies
When he has to attend boring events she is by his side and makes them not so boring
Dancing
He is there (and proud!!) when she gets another award
"For being one hell of a badass paramedic!"
They move in together when they realise they have been practically living together all the time anyway
„It’s just easier that way.“ Brett just nodded at that with a very unconvinced grin (the girl knows what's up)
Evan is really not the jealous type. He likes to be aware if there is something he should know about, but he trusts Violet and is secure in their relationship
Violet can get pretty jealous though. She just can't help it
Especially because she knows how good Evan looks in his uniform (or outside of it ;)) Of course others will try their luck with him.
She actually growls when she is there to see it. But he always very politely shuts them down
"You know I only have eyes for you."
And they go on that vacation
And lots of others
Their camera rolls are full of photos of the other
Most of them are goofy
Of course they are each others lockscreens, but Evan carries around a photo of her in his wallet
She thinks it’s so old-school??? But so cute???
Later when he proposes he does the whole deal
He makes sure they are both dressed up and he has roses and her favourite dessert
it's so romantic
Violet almost cries (okay maybe she cries a little) and then Evan gets teary eyed too and it's a whole cute mess
She wants to say she expected it after Brett and Kidd kept teasing her for months
But she really did not
Because there had been plenty of opportunities where nothing happened so she didn‘t expect anything that day
He makes it look so smooth, but they both know he is a nervous mess inside
His biggest fear (after her saying no obv) is dropping the ring so he holds onto it so tight he almost forgets to let go of it then
OBVIOUSLY she says yes
They agree to keep it low-key at first until they figure out the details
But the next day at work she ends up spilling the news to the girls and to Ritter and Gallo
And then Herrman overhears and announces it loudly to the whole firehouse
So there is that
Everyone is so happy for her
Boden even comes out of his office and hugs her
it's adorable
Herrman wants to throw them a party at Molly‘s and she actually thinks she might combust from happiness
Evan doesn‘t mind at all when she admits that „kind of everybody knows“ later. He is more amused about it
"You can show off your ring now. I know you want to.“
She really does (urgh when has she become one of those puppy eyed lovesick girls she used to make fun of??)
Shortly before the wedding Violet gets into a car crash with the ambulance when a sicko tries to get back at the firehouse for uncovering his drug stash
Evan feels his heart sink when he hears what happened
He rushes to the hospital IMMEDIATELY (he might have used his siren to get there faster)
Brett is there to tell him what happened and he is so scared for Violet the whole time she is in surgery
But it makes his heart a little lighter when he sees the whole waiting room is packed with her family at 51
And they take care of him too
Because he is a part of it now too <3
When they finally get the good news that she will be okay everyone let’s him go in first
He hates seeing her in a hospital bed although it reminds him of their first memorable encounter when he had to lecture her about a citizen complaint and her appendix burst in the middle of it
And she had barked orders around in the ambulance and talked nonsense…something about not having problems in her love life at all…and then she had petted his knee and told him he wasn’t a bad paramedic
She had told him that
Her boss
And she had asked him if she would survive
It had been one hell of a messy and cute event for sure
He had fallen hard for her then. And fast.
But being back here sitting at her bedside he could only think about the possibility that she had not survived
And he hadn‘t been there
But when she wakes up and asks him for the bubbly water he made sure to get ready for her it‘s forgotten for a moment
And she sees how upset he is so she reassures him she is okay
"Trust me, you won‘t get rid of me that easily.“
"I am counting on it.“
Cuddles!!!
They do need to post-pone the wedding a little
But when it does happen it‘s picture perfect
And Evan cries a little when he sees her which makes everyone else cry a little too
And they have their happy ending
Because they deserved it

My thoughts
Long text and it's just my opinion, xd, sorry for the writing, I'm not american
Well, it all started in January 2023, when Inside Job was canceled. I was pretty devastated and remained fandomless for like 6 months, until August 2023
Inside Job had a special place in my heart, the characters, the cast, the plots… Pretty weird I found it by searching Family Guy on Netflix. What pissed me off is that Netflix renewed it and then canceled it despite renewing it. It just makes me so angry. There was so much hype, so much potential… And it’s gone. Xd. Anyways, after seeing some fanart I found what I would consider my Inside Job’s replacement: Digman! I’m serious, this thing has somehow managed to fill that Inside Job hole in my heart, even though those might be shoes too big to fill for this series. Anyways, Digman! is what I would consider a mediocre series, which is way higher than promedium. Inside Job is an excellent series, where characters get developpement, plots work well and bring stuff to the story and the characters interact with each other since the main cast is quite large. In Digman! quite the opposite happens, the main cast seems to only be made out of the protagonist and the deuteragonist, like Inside Job but at least there Brett and Reagan talked with other people than themselves. In Digman! most of the time is either Rip or Saltine talking, also Saltine isn’t that much of a character since she’s so flat in terms of personality, like, you’re the deuteragonist, why don’t we know your family name. Reagan is so relatable at some point and she gets a great developpement through the series, even in the first part. Rip on the other hand get poor developpement and at last, he only changes a bit for the most stupid reason: he believes that anyone who bothers him is caring for him, which is kinda dumb to be honest since he’s literally told that he’s always wrong and others know what’s best for him. Now to the deuteragonists, there is Brett for Inside Job and Saltine for Digman!. Brett is such a loveable character that is so relatable, he’s a yesman, he’s hot, he has a tragic past, yet he’s still a nice guy. He got a great developpement through the show as he realized he doesn't have to change to please people and that his opinion matters, healing a bit of his family trauma at part 2 and learning to let go of his best friend just so she can be happy. Then we have Saltine, please what even are you. Saltine has by most people the most attractive design but according to them it is just because she doesn’t fit the artstyle and I don’t even understand what that even means. She’s such a flat character that even the support characters have more personality than her! She barely does anything on the series apart from saying the obvious, and triggering Rip’s traumas in ep 2 for some reason. The only time she played an important role was in episode 4 where she met Trisket, another archeologist assistant and they both became friends, which is nice and it was the moment where she had the most personality somehow. But overall, the only thing she does is state obvious things like saying that exploitation is bad and that snakes are dangerous, which is kinda pointless because there’s no need to explain that. I get why Rip seemed so bothered by her in episode 1 because oh my god, she’s kind of obnoxious. We don’t even know her family name! She’s the deuteragonist and we don’t know her family name. The only thing we know from her is that she's a bit of an inventor, she’s a college student, and her parents don’t support her choice of studying archeology, which I understand since what kind of horrible parents name their child after a cracker. This too few compared to Brett whom we know useless stuff about him that at least puts in value his past and personality. But I like both, Inside Job might be canceled, it might never have an end but at least I found something to replace it inside my heart. Something that brought me joy. Something that makes me hype for next season. Something. Digman! might not be the perfect show, but please, give it a chance. Also, whatever will happen in season 2, pls don’t be any romantic, Inside Job already traumatized me so much xd

WAIT I DIDNT KNOW YOU WRITE FOR INSIDE JOB NOW??? IM SO HAPPY BECAUSE YOURE LIKE ONE OF MY FAV WRITIMG BLOG !!!
May I request Reagans gang with a fem!s/o who’s really clingy, romantic and just very nice towards them, who’s also really insecure about herself? Have a good day and keep up the good work!
TYSM! It’s an honor to be one of ur favs
Reagan might need some time to adjust, physical touch just is not her love language at all lol. So please give her space! She will need to get used to you being so clingy. That aside, she does deep down find your sappiness and your romantic side to be grossly endearing and sweet. Just don’t do it around the others. She’s glad to have somebody that’s nice to her and truly appreciates her, and she can relate to being insecure. It really sucks because she doesn’t know how to help, but she thinks the world of you.
Brett may not know how to help with confidence (as he struggles himself) but he tries his best to be a good support group for you. Truly loves how kind you are! People are usually nice to him, but of course there are people that are really fucking mean to him and take advantage of him. He feels at ease with you, especially when you’re being all sappy and clingy. He loves this actually, since he’s very clingy and romantic himself!
Andre is secretly a hopeless romantic so in his eyes he’s hit the jackpot! Once he’s actually comfortable in the relationship, that is. He will be all over you, clinging to you 24/7. His coworkers are absolutely sick of you guys clinging to eachother and full blown making out in public like you’re some freaky highschool couple. All this aside, he is always telling you how amazing you are to make up for your lack of self esteem.
Gigi is always, ALWAYS hyping you up. Especially since she knows how insecure you are. And man, she adores you. Seriously! Especially since you’re so romantic, it makes her swoon! She may make a lot of jokes about you being the lucky one, but she truly feels like she is the one that ended up being lucky given how much of a catch you are. And being clingy is just a bonus, she adores it!
Myc is not one for clinginess, he’s not used to that. So you’ll have to give him a break. He’s not used to people genuinely liking his presence. He knows how much of an asshole he is and he’s comfortable with it. Regardless learns to like your clinginess (but will never admit it! Unless you get insecure about it and junk!) he is a bit flustered by how romantic you can be, he claims to be disgusted but the shrooms overall complexion seems darker for some reason.. and don’t worry! He will totally hype you up when you feel very insecure! Though he seriously doesn’t understand why you’re so nice to him?
Glenn is not used to such kindness from anyone, but he’ll take it in stride! But he is extremely flustered about it. And you only make it worse with your sappiness and romantic BS. Do you watch romcoms or something? This is getting really cheesy. He doesn’t hate it though, even if he claims it isn’t much and he’s totally not into it. He very much is! He thinks it’s very sweet, he feels undeserving of such love and affection! Being clingy is no problem for him either, since he is too. And he will be sure to tell you how amazing you are, and threaten anyone that tells ya otherwise.
And a bonus; JR!!
Jr is a romantic himself, so expect the absolute best treatment from the man. He will admit he’s not used to being woo’d. He’s used to doing the woo’ing. But he’s very happy and flattered about it! He loves your sappiness, and while he is a very busy man he is also quite clingy (for his standards anyway). Unless you work at cognito inc you won’t be able to be as clingy since he’s usually at work! He’s constantly complimenting with you and flirting with you, telling you how amazing you are.

You were standing in EJ’s kitchen, sipping on some apple cider. He was gracious enough to host a Thanksgiving dinner for the team and Nate had asked you to come with him. You loved hanging out with everyone, so it was an instant yes, but it was times like this when you wished you hadn’t come.
The rest of the WAGs had been talking about their boyfriends, their holiday date night plans, seeing their family and all that. It would’ve been fine...if you’d been one of the significant others. You and Nate were just friends, no matter how much time you spent together or how often you came to events that were usually reserved for the better halves. Around the holidays - the mistletoe, the music, even the Hallmark movies - it was always rubbed in how single you were. It didn’t feel right to keep standing in the room with them, feeling like an outsider, so you moved to the quiet, empty kitchen.
“You know, you can contribute to the conversation,” Mel said, coming to join you by the sink. You shook your head and looked down at the mug in your hand.
“Me and Nate aren’t together,”
“You might as well be.” You scoffed at her statement. “You came together, I’m 100% sure he complimented when he came to your door to pick you up, and you matched your outfit to his, and I know that because he wore the same sweater last year but yours is new. He’s introduced you to his parents for God’s sake! And I know you’re considering going to Cole Harbour in the summer. ”
“We’re just friends,”
“Friends don’t do that.”
When you didn’t budge, she pressed more. “Oh, c’mon, you can’t tell me you’ve never thought about you and Nate together,”
“Of course, I have. Is that what you want to hear? Nate’s amazing and kind and exactly my type. But I wouldn’t want to ruin what we have, okay? So I won’t say anything, not now, not ever. Please just let it go for once, okay?” You turned to face her, expecting some sort of an apology to fall from her lips. Instead, you saw a soft smile and followed her gaze to see Nate standing in the doorway.
She quietly left the two of you alone and you turned to face him, watching his face. His eyes were unreadable and his mouth had been open in shock since you saw him. You tried to smile at him but it came out strained and he noticed.
“That true? You like me? Like more than friends?”
“I’d be lying if I said no,” You looked down at your hands and the air in the room started to get tense as Nate took in your words, still blankly staring at you.
“Y/N...I-.” He stammered. He looked down at his feet and you knew, you just knew. Knew he didn’t like you like that and he was trying to let you down easy.
“I have to go.” You rushed away from the stifling air in the kitchen, from the party, from him. The wind outside nipped at your arms and tears were freezing on your cheeks but it was the least of the pain as you left your heart with the man that fractured it.
---
“Dude, what happened to you at the party on Saturday? You just disappeared,” JT asked Nate as he walked into the locker room after practice later that week. Nate shrugged him off but Gabe piped up.
“Probably went out with Y/n, I didn’t see them either,” He winked and the boys erupted with hoots and hollers.
“Woah, no, no, we’re just friends. I don’t like them like that.”
“Yeah, okay, and I don’t have three horses,” EJ said. The boys laughed again but Nate shook his head adamantly.
“How would you even know if I like them?”
“How would we not know?” Mikko laughed along with the rest of the room. Nate huffed and sat down, taking off his equipment. Tyson beside him had already finished undressing and picked up his bag.
“Dog, hate to break it to you, but you’re so obvious even I can see it. You’ve got, like, heart-eyes or something every time you see them.” He left without another word, letting his teammate absorb his words. The rest of his teammates filled out of the room soon after, Nate taking the rest of his equipment off slowly as Tyson’s words hung around in his head.
“You can’t tell me you’ve never thought about it,” Gabe said, sitting next to Nate as he untied his skates.
“I mean,” He shrugged. “I don’t know, they’re my best friend. They’re just always...there, I’ve never thought about being more with them because...”
“Because you already act like a couple with them?” Gabe filled in. Nate looked at his captain with furrowed brows but Gabe just shook his head. “Barrie is your best friend. Sid is your best friend. Y/n’s never been like them, and I think you know that.” He stood up, and gave Nate a pat on his leg before wishing him a good night and leaving the room.
Nate couldn’t even answer him, his words bouncing around in his head.
Because you already act like a couple? Y/n’s not like them.
Nate knew he was more physically affectionate with you than he was with some of his other friends, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. He was just more comfortable around you, like you were somehow in tune with his thoughts and feelings. And yeah, he asked you to all the Avalanche galas and events but that’s just because he always got lonely at those things and you always made them good nights instead of boring ones. Sure, he’d dropped everything to take care of you when you were sick and yeah, he might’ve brought you lunch at work a few times but that doesn’t mean he’s in love with you, right?
Right?
---
Mel knew how to throw a party, you’d give her that. She’d invited you to her annual anti-hockey player holiday party and you’d come despite most of the others being significant others, which Nate had made clear you weren’t. The party had died down about an hour ago, and while most of the girls left, you stayed to help Mel clean up. The two of you were sitting at the dining room table, wine glasses in hand, talking about how the Linnea was adjusting to having a baby brother when the door opened, letting in a brisk chill.
“Babe! We’re back!” Gabe shouted and from the two of you were sitting you had a clear view of the guys that walked in -- Gabe, EJ, Mikko, and...Nate.
It had only been a week since you’d seen him but you could tell how different he looked. You could see the way his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes and the way his shoulders were slumped. The two of you locked eyes and you noticed he was wearing the ugly Christmas sweater you’d given him last year.
“Noo,” He laughed as he pulled out the sweater from the bag. It was one of those ugly Christmas ones - something you figured everyone needed to have at least one of - and it was decorated like a gingerbread house. There were even little gingerbread people near the candy covered front door and the sleeves were made to look like iced shingles.
“It’s what you deserve after you wouldn’t bake cookies with me!”
“Gotta keep my diet up, you know? Gotta keep these gains,” He flexed his arms and you laughed with him. “I love it though, thank you.”
“There’s more in there,” You motioned to the gift bag and Nate looked in it again, pulling out a smaller wrapped item. He tore it open and his mouth fell open in shock.
“Goth Babe tickets?!” You nodded and Nate ran a hand through his hair. “Holy shit, thank you!”
“I figured you could ask Barrie to go with you, that’s why there’s two of them.” He turned away from the tickets to look at you, his eyebrows scrunched together.
“Why would I want to ask him when I could ask you?”
“Why would you want me to come?”
“You’re pretty much my favourite person, Y/n, of course I’d want you to come with me.” His eyes were soft and you could only keep eye contact with him for so long before you buckled under his gaze. You nodded your head at his request, trying to ignore the butterflies in your stomach.
Your chair scraped along the hardwood floors as you ran to the kitchen, the memories that came flooding back being too much for you to handle. You’d never have that Nate again, not with how you absolutely wrecked the relationship you did have with him. A small amount of tears blurred your vision and you leaned on the counter trying to catch your breath. You barely even registered Mel’s voice calling your name until she was in front of you.
“I didn’t know he was going to be here, I swear.”
“It’s fine, it just...caught me off guard, that’s all.”
“You guys haven’t talked about what happened?”
You sighed. “Not since...we haven’t talked. What would I even say to him?”
“I would think of something quick because he’s coming over here,” Mel said quickly, before darting out of the kitchen before you could reprimand her. You turn around to face Nate, trying to keep a neutral face. You failed quickly as you took in the wear of his face up close; the way his eyes drooped just a little bit more and how his lips were cracked, probably because he didn’t have anyone to remind him to use lip balm.
“Nate.”
“Hi.” He cleared his throat. “You, uh, you look really good,”
“Oh, this old thing?” The tension in the room stayed as thick as the snow on the ground outside and you gulped. “Thanks.”
It stayed silent for a minute before Nate cleared his throat. “Look, Y/n, am I...Am I too late?” He asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Too late for what?” He opened his mouth to continue but another voice interrupted him.
“Ooh, lovebirds, mistletoe. You know the rules,” EJ teased. The two of you slowly looked up towards the small piece of mistletoe under the doorway. Your eyes dart back to EJ, who has a shit-eating grin on his face, and you start to shake your head a little.
“EJ…” You warned. “No, we’re….We’re… just friends-”
“No.” Nate's voice was quiet but you heard him clearly. Your eyes met the ice-blue eyes in front of you and you tilted your head a little. “We’ve never been just friends.”
With care, one of his hands moves to the back of your neck and he starts to lean in. It was slow but you know it’s intentional. Nate’s giving you an out, a moment to tell him he missed his chance and that you never want to see him again.
Cautiously, you lean in to meet him under the mistletoe. The world didn’t melt away, no, you could still hear all the guys hollering in the background, but it only amplified every other sense. How Nate’s lips are pressed against yours, how his warm hands are cupping your cheeks, how you can feel the tension releasing from his body - that was all you could focus on, all you wanted to focus on. When the two of you pull away for air, a soft smile starts to grace his face while you stand there trying to figure out what just happened.
“In case it wasn’t clear, you’re exactly my type too. To hell with friendship.” You look back at his eyes and see nothing but sincerity. No uncertainty, no blankness, nothing like that night.
“But you said...I thought-”
“You left before I got to really say anything. And it might’ve taken me a little longer to get it through my thick head but…”
“Nate, what are you saying?” He sighed and gently intertwined his fingers with yours, caressing the skin between your thumb and forefinger.
“You’re the one and you’ve been the one for a while, I’ve just been too scared to see it. I want to spend every night wrapped up in your arms and I want to see you in my jersey after games and I want your love, any that you’re willing to give me.”
“Nate…” Your hand moved to his jawline and lightly traced it. “Why didn’t you just say that a week ago?”
“Because he’s a dumbass!” Mikko yelled from around the corner and you laughed while Nate’s cheeks flushed as red as Cale’s got on the ice.
“What he said,” He mumbled and you pressed a long kiss on his cheek.
“Just don’t be a dumbass again, okay?” Nate smiled and wrapped his arms around you, bringing your head into the crook of his neck and he whispered into your ear.
“Never again.”

Nobody asked for this, but I have a lot of thoughts on last night’s Chicago Fire episode, and I need to put them somewhere.
Generally speaking, I didn’t really like the episode (10x14). I had really high hopes for Stella’s story and her embracing a lieutenantship somewhere else, and I was really excited to see her prove her leadership by pulling an “I’ll Make a Man Out of You,” Mulan-type thing with 72. And, frankly, I liked Pelham and wanted to see more of him.
So this work-around to keep Stella at 51 and effectively write out Brett Dalton really frustrates me. It’s just another example of Fire silo-ing the show. I want them to get dynamic and expand beyond the house, and they just keep telling me over and over that it won’t happen. Not to mention, this resolution essentially negates the entire arc both Stella and Pelham had in the early season. Stella willingly gave up the 81 spot, and she should’ve done more to earn that back, especially after everything Pelham did to earn it in the first place. I wanted her to earn it by whipping those guys at 72 into shape, but she instead just got it handed to her. And Pelham loses his family, just to keep the main cast under the same roof and avoiding expanding the world. And I don’t find that fair.
And then there’s the Hawkami of it all. I think it’s incredibly clear that we love them, but with the show constantly demonstrating that they refuse to go outside the walls of 51, I am not hopeful for their future. We said it from the beginning that we were clowning ourselves into thinking Hawkami was anything other than a plot device to get Violet and Gallo back together, and while I thought maybe for a second that wouldn’t be true, with every new episode, all our Hawkami content is laced with Gallo’s opinions on it. Whether he be against it or repenting for his previous comments, he’s always there, and the fact that the writers won’t let us forget that makes me think that they will once again forego a relationship with massive potential in favor of one within the house.
Even Sylvie’s reactions to the situation are putting me off. Of all the times Violet has come to her about Evan, I’ve never once thought that Sylvie sounded genuinely happy for her. I’m remembering that season 1 moment when Gabby tells Shay that she was sleeping with Mills and Shay literally shouts, “I KNEW IT” and then they start gabbing about how “generous” the sex is. That’s the kind of girl friendship I want between Sylvie and Violet, and we keep getting Sylvie just saying, “Well, he’s likeable” and “Not going to see Evan?” in a flat tone. Violet gave Sylvie the speech that pushed her towards Matt, and Sylvie responds with what feels like judgment about Violet dating a superior. We went from Violet proudly saying “who gives a damn what people think” last week to lying to her partner about it being only a one night thing, and I think it’s because she can tell Sylvie is not supportive. And that’s out of character because Sylvie’s entire deal is being supportive. So we’ve got Gallo always butting in and Sylvie literally acting out of character just to drive out a non-51 based love interest.
And I get that there are production concerns with expanding the geographical scope of the show, and it makes more sense to stay on one set piece both fiscally and COVID-wise, but building a smaller house, a partial set for Lieutenant Stella to exist in is feasible, in my opinion. And they’ve already got sets for Hawkins’ office and house. This show could be bigger than it is, but they just keep going in circles.
Even Severide’s arc this episode is something we’ve seen before. Yes, it’s always nice to see him mentoring a young firefighter onto squad, but we first saw him do this a decade ago with Mills, and - other than his relationship with Stella - he’s basically in the same spot he was then: lieutenant of Squad 3. His entire development has been going from ladies man to monogamous, but I want to know how he’s progressing professionally. I want Kelly to get promoted, and I honestly want him to think about leaving Squad. It’s been shown so many times that he is excellent at OFI and even teaching academy courses. I want him to find a successor, train them, and then finally move on from the stagnancy of Squad 3. He’s one of the only house members to never move up. Cruz moved to Squad, Hermann got promoted, even Mouch became union president. I want more for Kelly Severide. Hell, I want more for the whole show.

Hi I’m new to bbg an I was wondering if in at any point people considered Louis to have been a donor to a fertility clinic (under oc all the legal protections a celebrity has). I wall say this o even tho father and motherhood is very personal to each. The blatant closeting move here shadows most of the positives. Im not that naive. But I also wanted to know if (why) the fandom hates Freddie or how do we treat the child, cuz he is just 5 and this is a very very well thought out thing.
Hello anon! Okay, a lot to unpack here. I'm guessing you came from twitter? Out of all the theories and discussions I've ever seen about babygate between twarries, this is the one it sound the most absurd to me.
I think that sometime people try to find reasonable explanations for something that is hard to understand or accept, and it's fine we all do that, but they don't really realize how contradictory it sounds as long as it's easier to accept. So first, WHY. How in the world people forcing him to be a sperm donor is more reasonable or likely than him simply not being his kid??? This make it sound like babygate is based on nothing. Like I always say, context matters so much and one of the reasons why babygate is so obviously a stunt and Freddie is not his kid at all is because Louis himself have been trying to tell us that. Why would he do that if Freddie was in fact his kid? Why has he been teasing "end it" like the rest of us? Everything about Louis and the kid points to the fact Louis has absolutely nothing to do with him.
Second, if Freddie was biologically his, they wouldn't need to photoshop Louis' face on all the pictures. He would simply look like Louis and not Brett, which is obviously his actual father. And finally, if Louis was biologically his father, they could have easily done a DNA test and he would have custody. Plus, let's just use some critical thinking here guys, you don't actually go ahead and have a fake baby, who do you guys even think Louis is. How would he donate the sperm and then act like it wasn't his, or let other people raise the kid. Seriously.
And lastly I just wanted to address the fact you're saying the fandom hates Freddie? I can't speak for other people and I'm aware there is some shitty people out there but thinking Freddie is not Louis' kid doesn't mean we hate the kid at all and I would never support this kind of behaviour. In fact I've never seen anyone treating him disrespectfully on tumblr, to be honest. Freddie is a lovely kid and he and Louis are the victims on this horrible situation. I wish he didn't have this disgusting family of his and I personally will always try to preserve him and his image as much as possible, differently than a lot of people thinking this is his child and literally making fan accounts for a 5 y/o in a very creepy way. I think is time to stop to blame larries for disgusting things other people do.

Fireside Chat
Pairing: Sylvie Brett x Stella Kidd x Best Friend! reader (plus Gallo x reader)
Summary: Y/N, Stella, and Sylvie are hanging out in the bunk room spilling the secrets of their relationships when Y/N realizes something she hadn’t before
Requested: Yes, by anonymous
Warnings: none
Word Count: 1,010 Words
Tumblr media
“Y/N! Bunk room! Now!” Stella shouted as she ran past the common room where I was sitting.
“Uh, what was that all about?” Darren questioned from where he was seated next to me at the table.
“I’m not sure,” I reply and stand up. “But I should probably go find out.
“No! Don’t leave!” Blake whined and reached forward to grab onto my hand. I shook my head and smiled softly at how silly Blake was acting. But then again, whenever I was with him, he was always acting like this. We had met when he came to work at Firehouse 51, and as soon as we hung out for the first time, I knew there was something special about him. And just a few weeks later, we started dating. It was a low-key sort of deal, meaning we didn’t like showing our relationship at work, and it was working out well for us seeing as we had been together for a few months now.
“Blake, please don’t try and use the puppy eyes on me,” I plead. “Because you know they work every time.” But of course, Blake didn’t listen and put on his puppy dog face, which always cracked me. This time though, I was not going to fall for the trick. “See you later,” I murmur and peck his lips quickly before rushing out of the common room as fast as I could, that way, I wouldn’t have time to let the puppy eyes get to me. I made my way down the hallway and towards the bunk room, and when I entered the large sleeping area, I found Stella along with Sylvie, my partner on Ambulance 61, sitting on two beds near the back of the room.
“There you are. I thought I was going to have to go and drag you out of there,” Stella exclaimed. Sylvie pat the spot on the bed next to her where she was sitting criss-crossed, and I took a seat. I pulled my knees up to my chest and hooked the heels of my boots into the bed frame so that my legs stayed in position, and once I was stable, I placed my elbows on my knees and laid my head in my palms.
“So, what’s up?” I ask.
“Well, we haven’t had any girls nights recently, so Stella and I thought we could gather in here and just chat about whatever,” Sylvie explained.
“Mmm,” I hum. “But when you say talk about whatever, you really just want to talk about boys, don’t you?”
“I knew she’d understand,” Stella spoke and leaned against the wall behind the bed she was seated on top of. “So, Sylvie, lets start with you.”
Sylvie sighed. “I don’t know what to do about Matt. We kissed, which was nice, but we’ve kind of distanced ourselves because I said I needed space. I mean, I really really like him, but he was married to Gabby, who used to be my best friend and-”
I cut Sylvie off. “Sylvie, Gabby left. She packed up her things, moved to another country, and broke Matt’s heart. So don’t think you should stay away from him just because of her. If you like him that much, then go for it.”
“Preach, Y/N,” Stella cheered.
“I still have a lot to think about, but I’ll let you guys know when I finally make a decision on what I’m going to do,” Sylvie admitted.
“Good. Stella, you want to go next?” I question.
Stella nodded. “So, as you both know, Kelly and I are in a bit of a rough patch right now. Things have been kind of weird ever since Boden signed me up to take the Lieutenant’s Test. I just, I don’t know what’s going on with us. He’s the problem, right? Not me?”
“He’s definitely the problem,” Sylvie declared, to which I agreed. “Maybe you should talk to him about it.”
“But, knowing that Kelly’s not the most talkative person, and he gets distracted pretty easily depending on where he is, talk to him somewhere private, like the apartment. And if no one’s around, he’ll have no choice but to talk to you,” I point out.
“You guys are amazing at giving advice. If being a paramedic doesn’t work out one day, you guys should become therapists,” Stella claimed.
“Thank you, but I think Y/N and I will stick to our current jobs,” Sylvie said.
“Yeah,” I agree. “But thanks for the compliment.”
“You’re the last to go, Y/N. Spill the beans!” Stella demanded and leaned forward with a small smile on her face. “How are you and Gallo?”
“Good. Great, actually,” I clarify. “Blake’s uh, he’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a boyfriend. He’s kindhearted, caring, funny... I could probably go on forever. I just feel so special whenever I’m with him.”
“You guys are adorable,” Sylvie mentioned.
“But it’s hard having a boyfriend who has a dangerous profession,” I add. “I worry about him everyday. Part of me wishes he was in a different career, but Blake was born to be a firefighter. And while he gives me so much anxiety, I’m going to support him no matter what because he has my heart. I uh, I think I love him.” Sylvie and Stella looked at each other, both of them sharing the same look, and they squealed in unison. Then, they swarmed me and wrapped me in a huge hug. I laughed softly and hugged my two best friends back, grateful that I had people like them in my life.
“We are so happy for you, Y/N. When are you going to tell him?” Stella asked.
I shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe tonight after shift.” That’s when an alarm blared throughout the firehouse, and a dispatcher announced that Ambulance 61 was needed to go help a citizen. Sylvie and I each bid Stella goodbye, and on the way to the ambulance, I had a million thoughts running through my head. But one thing was for sure; I was in love with Blake Gallo.

Brettsey + prompt 15?
P.S. Thank you for doing this 💕💕
15. “When I’m with you, I’m home.”
Sylvie Brett is a talker.
That’s just the way she’s always been. She comes from a warm and loving family, where she was always met with honesty and affection. Her family isn’t perfect, sure, but her parents are unfailingly kind. They always encouraged her to open up, always talked with her. It’s in her blood, she thinks— the natural urge to want to talk it out with the people she cares about.
So, when the majority of the Casey family decide to opt out of coming to her and Matt’s wedding, she takes it personally.
Christie and Violet RSVP and are thrilled to come. But Sylvie badgers Nancy Casey for weeks, grovels endlessly when she visits for a few days, begs her and the rest of his extended family to work out their issues. At the very least, she thought they’d be able to put all of that crap aside for one night and see how happy she and Matt are together, but nope. Not even Sylvie’s willpower can force the Caseys into temporarily resolving their issues. They’re secretive and stubborn— more stubborn than Matt, even— which means to them, Sylvie’s demands are out of the question.
She’s on the phone now, taking advantage of the quiet morning they’ve had on shift and trying her best to get Matt’s mom to see reason. This is their wedding, for crying out loud. Nancy doesn’t have to like Sylvie but she should be there for the wedding— if only to support Matt.
“I’m sorry, Sylvie. Even if I could make it, I think me being there would do him more harm than good,” Nancy sighs through the phone.
“No! No, he’d love it if you were there,” she assures her, pacing around the bunk room.
“Matt knows me, sweetheart. He knows I don’t stay in one place for too long, me being at your wedding isn’t what either of us needs. Besides, I’m sure the others will want to come and that’s a lot of drama I’d rather avoid.”
“They don’t want to come either. I’ve been calling his living relatives all morning but none of them will budge or even try and let go of mysterious grudges they have. I mean, uncles, aunts, cousins. All of them declined the invites. This is an important day for Matt, they have to see that, don't they? If they could just sit down and talk it out I'm sure they could—”
“They won’t,” Nancy tells her sympathetically. “Sylvie, our family is much too complicated. We have a saying in our family, you know. ‘Never have more than two Caseys in one room if you want to stay sane’. Trying to fix our family’s issues is like trying to find a penny in the ocean, dear. It’s just not going to happen, no matter how hard you try or how optimistic you get.”
“Mrs. Casey— Nancy— I’m just asking for you to stop by. An hour, tops. Please. You’re his mom.” Sylvie tries staying calm as she stops her pacing but she can’t help the frustrated edge in her tone.
“I know, dear,” she replies with a lamentful sigh. “But I’ve let Matt down one too many times to ever deserve that title.”
Sylvie huffs defeatedly into the phone, sitting down on one of the cots. Maybe she should have seen this coming. Matt’s not expecting any of his family to show up, he’d told her as much. But she’d wanted to surprise him with it. Now, seeing his expectations of his family be totally and completely accurate breaks her heart. He’d been prepared for the worst; he always is. Only now, she doesn’t blame him. The Caseys have given him nothing but the worst. She doesn’t know why she thought now would be different.
“I’m glad he has you, Sylvie,” Nancy Casey continues softly. “Leaving isn’t so hard for me this time, because I know Matt has someone someone like you in his corner, fighting for him. My son hasn’t had much of that in his life, frankly. I’m truly happy for the two of you.”
Sylvie’s anger towards his mom, and towards all of the Caseys for that matter, still lingers in her. Having her leave, having none of his family be there at the wedding, it feels all wrong. They’re his own flesh and blood, how could they let their stubbornness and secrets get in the way? How could they let down Matt like this?
Matt’s not even bothered by it though. At this point, it’s her they’re disappointing.
But she takes a deep breath, soaking in her words. She’s happy for them and Sylvie suspects that took quite a lot for Nancy Casey to say it so vulnerably. She has enough emotional baggage for a life time, after all. So Sylvie takes what she can get.
“Thanks,” Sylvie settles on replying. Arguing is pointless, so she wishes Nancy a safe trip and hangs up. It’s a little anticlimactic but then again, the Casey family’s drama never was all that flashy and exaggerated. It’s more quiet and seething, like mellow, gently boiling water that burns to the touch.
Sylvie, however, is not. She’s never been one to hide her emotions or leave it below the surface. The Caseys are a frustrating bunch, and she fumes from her nostrils at the thought of it. That is, of course, until she sees Matt walk into his quarters from across the bunk room. The sight of him is enough to make her put her anger on the backburner because her heart just… breaks.
He won’t be surprised when she tells him she failed. It’s not a fact that comforts her.
She pockets her phone, walks over to his quarters, and knocks on the edge of the open door. “Hi.”
“Hey,” he beams from his desk. Her face doesn’t return as wide of a smile though, her normally cheerful demeanour gone. Matt picks up on it immediately (because of course he does) and his brows furrow. “You okay?”
“I got off the phone with your mom,” she explains through tight lips.
“Ah.” He gives a knowing nod, and Sylvie doesn’t even need to finish her sentence. He knows. He knows, and it hurts. “I take it your plan about getting my family to come to the wedding didn’t go so well.”
“No, it did not,” she huffs, moving into his office and beginning her frustrated pacing again. She can feel the anger ramping up in her. “You were right. They won’t holster their issues for one day. Your mom isn’t even coming, she’s leaving Chicago for some meditation retreat. Can you believe that?!”
“I can actually, yeah,” he sighs wistfully, observing her from his chair. “Mom’s been flakey ever since she got out of prison. Making up for lost time, I guess. I told you they weren’t going to budge on this, babe. They’re full of secrets and drama, that won’t change.”
“I know,” Sylvie huffs disappointedly, her shoulders sagging as her pacing comes to a halt. Matt shift his chair towards her slightly and steadies his feet on the ground, motioning for her. She’s instinctively drawn in, moving to wrap an arm around his shoulders and sit her legs across his lap. Her hands gently run through his hair as she starts to speak; an action that she finds strangely soothing. “It just makes me so- so mad,” she pouts. “I wanted to fix things so badly that I didn’t listen when you told me it wouldn’t work. I just went ahead and failed anyway.”
“Hey,” he hushes comfortingly. “You didn’t let me down in any way. You know that, right? You want to see the good in people, always, and I love you for it. And you tried, that counts for something. If they don’t want to come to our wedding, that’s their loss. I haven’t even spoken to half of them in years anyway.”
“See, that’s just messed up,” she points out, pointing at him matter-of-factly. “They’re your family! They’re supposed to love you and show up for you, you’re supposed to feel at home when they’re around. Instead, they’re keeping these little secrets and disappointing people. Disappointing you, me— us.”
“When I’m with you, I’m home,” he argues back softly with a grin.
“I’m being serious,” she replies with a frown.
“I am too,” Matt tells her. His arms are around her waist, pulling her closer in on his lap and moving his free hand up to her face. He brushes her hair away from her face and behind her ear, stroking circles on her cheek with his thumb afterwards. “Everyone at 51? They’re my real family. You’re my family. That’s all I need at our wedding. No one else.”
At those words, Sylvie’s heart is finally able to relax and her shoulders ease up. She’s able to smile for the first time since calling Nancy Casey, letting it spread over her face as she holds Matt’s gaze. They’re getting married and when they do, their real family will be there with them. She holds onto that fact like it’s a lifeline until she feels better, soaking in the warmth of his embrace.
She leans in, cupping his face with one hand as she kisses him tenderly. He sucks in a soft breath, catching her bottom lip in between his before they pull away.
“That sounds perfect to me,” she replies, in a voice somewhere in between a sigh and a happy hum.
Suddenly, the Caseys fade into the back of her mind and out of existence.

(not so) small rant about Theo, Liam and season six of Teen Wolf
I keep hearing on and on and on about how "Liam is the only person who trusts and supports Theo after he came back from hell" and I keep wondering if people who say things like that have been watching the same show as me, or maybe there is some alternative version I don't know about.
In the version of the show I've been watching, Liam's intentions were clear from the very beginning – he brought Theo back for one purpose only, to use him. I mention that, because sometimes I see people acting as if Liam did it from the goodness of his heart. The moment it becomes clear that Theo doesn't have Josh and Tracy's powers anymore, Liam is ready to send him back in an instant. It's only after when Theo asks about Scott and Stiles that he reconsiders, but his motivations don't include any sympathy for Theo. Liam distrusts and despises Theo – and it never changes throughout the course of the show.
Now, I won't argue that he doesn't have reasons for that. He has been hurt by Theo just like anybody else, although here I could argue that from the whole pack he is far from being the one who got hurt the most. Even Mason has more reasons to be distrustful and unforgiving towards Theo as he was a direct witness to Theo murdering Scott at the library. I'm not questioning it – I'm simply pointing out the way Liam is treating Theo, which includes constant threats, insults and yanking him around in chains. That last part is especially disturbing to me, as I've read posts where (apart from the constant "he deserved it", which I am not going to dive into here) people were jokingly claiming that Theo probably "enjoyed" it. Now, I agree that Theo has a significant masochistic streak in him. But the way the scene, which depicts degrading someone and treating him like less than a dog, let alone a human being, got tied here to something which is supposed to be a part of proper and healthy BDSM dynamics, makes me seriously cringe and wonder why people (and the writers) think that it's okay in any context to treat someone this way – especially an incredibly traumatized kid, who developed unhealthy coping mechanisms as a response to having suffered abuse for years – and then frame it as funny for some reason.
After Ghost Riders are defeated, we have Theo appearing at the police station. Liam's reaction – after Theo saved him twice – is that of relief and gratitude, oh hi Theo, good that you are here to help us… oh wait, not really. It's furiously blurting "do you want me to kill him?" to Scott (and I'm not even going into how ridiculously messed up is asking Scott of all people for permission to kill someone, even Theo. I wonder if Liam seriously thought Scott was going to say yes?), despite the fact that Theo already proved that not only he doesn't pose a threat, but is actively helping the pack.
And that continues for the rest of the season. Liam remains hostile towards Theo, constantly hurling insults at him and being violent towards him, which is another disturbing thing framed as funny and somehow 'romantic' (I don't even know what's worse). Even the infamous elevator scene, which people like to bring up as some kind of "proof of love" between Theo and Liam, doesn't offer anything particularly convincing here:
THEO: Look, I'm not dying for you.
LIAM: I'm not dying for you, either.
[pause]
LIAM: But, I will fight with you.
That's it. Hardly an acknowledgement of anything, especially any kind of affection. Considering how constipated and bitter Liam looks the entire time, we can safely assume this declaration came out rather from "I don't really see any other options here, so I'll take whatever it is" than "I can see you've changed and I trust you". They do end up saving each other's lives and protecting each other, yes; nobody says otherwise, although it's not uncommon in the show to work together with one's adversaries to defeat the Greater Bad (when it comes to Liam, two examples on the top of my head are him saving Brett's life in Sinema in season 5 and the whole arc with Hayden, who treats him quite horribly in the beginning – see the pattern here?).
Even after the whole scene with Gabe (mind you, Theo is the one stopping Liam from killing Gabe in the first place!) everything that Theo did, all the sacrifices he made, remain unacknowledged. Liam is more willing to make amends with Nolan – the guy who actively tried to kill him many times and who participated in terrorizing him in the classroom trying to make him shift in front of everyone, which most certainly would result in his death – than even admit that Theo might be right in anything or that he changed.
Neither Theo nor Liam's actions at this point are motivated by mutual affection towards each other. Theo's main goal is getting back into Scott's good graces and into his pack. He comes back to the hospital explicitly because Scott asked him to, and there is no reason to believe that he had any additional motivations beyond that. He might have developed some sort of affection towards Liam, but even if so, it remained pretty much one-sided, and the argument here seems to be that Liam not only trusts and supports Theo, but is the only person doing so, which is not the case. Liam on the other hand is pretty much driven by his own enormous guilt, caused by the fact that he – as he himself admitted – not only attacked Scott, but at some point wanted to kill him even without Theo pushing him. Therefore, he is projecting his guilt and self-loathing onto Theo, and again, I'm not questioning that he does have reasons to loathe Theo. But that's not the point here.
Now I want to clarify, again, that the point of this post is not to tell people that they can’t enjoy the ship, or that it’s bad, or that Liam is a bad person. It’s simply to point out Liam’s canonical behavior towards Theo as a way to disprove the claim that Liam was the only person to trust and support Theo, which has no basis in facts whatsoever.
I get that people have their headcanons and enjoy their ships, and I’m far from telling anyone who they can or can’t ship, or that one ship is better than the other. However, shipping someone and having fun with it is not the same as twisting into knots to try to prove that canon supports something, when it doesn't. Yes, there is a person who acknowledges that Theo has changed. Who trusts and supports him even when they have no reason to. Who is always there for him and tries to treat him fairly even after being incredibly hurt and betrayed.
But that person isn't Liam.
