Can you rate the Courtney ships mod courtney? Obviously there’s like a million but the more well known ones (gwen, heather, cody, scott, emma rr, bridgette, etc), i want to see your faves

Gwourtney - 10/10 the definition of a yuri situationship. I love gwourtney in that context. Well, and every context. I love gwourtney but it’s so unserious. It’s hard for me to look at gwourtney and think that they’ll last longer than a week bc they have different opinions of eternal sunshine of a spotless mind or some bullshit

Duncney - 10/10 I have a huge soft spot for duncney. I shipped it when tdi was first coming out and i still love it to this day. I have so many thoughts about duncney i could write paragraph after paragraph about it. It was not handled well in canon i will be the first to admit that but i just. I lvoe it. Being 9 and watching the duncney kiss live on tv was just. Ugh. You had to be there ok. I get ppl not shipping it or even liking it bc eugh it gets bad but in a time pre-TDA you have to understand it was 🔛🔝

Heathney - 1000/10 MY FAVORITE!!! heathney solos. Heather and Courtney are just perfect together. They’re both a little evil and I love that for them. They would take over the world. They’ve both got strategy-oriented mindsets and they’re both super critical but in very different ways. Heathney is the best of opposites attract and great minds. Heather and courtney have so much to bond over. I have so much more to say but I don’t want to write a whole book here lol

Scottney - 10/10 scottney is good. I don’t love it though. It really feels like an afterthought in tdas. If there had been real effort into developing their relationship, it could have easily been amazing. I will say I love how so much of tdas is Duncan kissing gwen & being like “DO YOU THINK COURTNEY IS WATCHING?” And Courtney’s too busy dating an idiot ginger who eats dirt.

Bridgney - 10/10 Bridgney my beloved. I’m really big on friends to lovers as a trope. Mutual pining on your best friend is just. Oh god its so good. It’s such a rarepair though and i get it, since a lot of other courtney ships are more “dynamic”. But bridgney is so good. I feel like it’s the ship courtney would feel the most “peaceful” in. And courtney would nudge bridgette out of her comfort zone. And i love that for them.

Emmaney (courtemma?) - ?/10 i like Emma/courtney bc i kin courtney and i have a crush on Emma. I think they would be very competitive in a relationship though and that could easily get out of hand tho. I could easily see them hooking up when they’re in law school lol. I never read Emma/courtney fics tbh if anyone has any recs send me them

Courdy - ???/10 where did courdy come from? Courtney deserves better than cody she’s so slay and hes so cringe

Justney (justin/courtney) - 10/10 honestly I feel like this one is criminally underrated. Justin’s crush on courtney in TDA is really cute. The fact that likes her because she’s a strong competitor & is deeply fascinated by her is just… I really like it. It feels like justin appreciates courtney for who she is and loves how unhinged she could be. In this regard they actually have a lot in common and I think Courtney would really like him if she gave him the time of day lol

Alecourtney - 10/10 another one that’s slept on tbh. I like aleheather dont get me wrong but i could easily see Alejandro falling for Courtney’s completely unhinged side. And when courtney said she’s Alejandro’s “gal” its just. It’s cute ok. Don’t come at me.

General TD tickle headcanons:

Heather is a force to be reckoned with normally and equally when it comes to tickling

Girlie will HAPPILY use it as leverage against the other campers

She finds out you’re ticklish?? You better run for the hills

Pretty ticklish herself, though she’ll deny it to no end

She’ll fight if anyone tries, but the second you get your hands on her sides she’s done-zo

Courtney doesn’t involve herself in the other contestants tickling shenanigans much, but when she does it’s usually because someone (Duncan) coaxes her into it

If she would let loose a little more she’s definitely be the best ler out of the cast

Scarily good at it, what’s even scarier is how good she is a pin-pointing people’s weak spots

Teasing FIEND because she’s usually antagonized into wrecking someone

On the lowkey she loves going after Gwen, she thinks her laugh is adorable

Cody is a prime target for everyone so he’s gotten really good at getting away and holding in his reactions

If he thinks he can he’ll even try to overpower whoever’s trying to get him

He doesn’t hate it by any means he just knows how to put up a fight!

He’s a very nervous ler despite how confident he is before wrecking someone

Cody gets a little flustered and stutters a lot through the process

Duncan was the #1 ler at the camp but was quickly overridden by Alejandro during World Tour

He’s a very antagonistic ler if that makes sense, he tickles people just to see them in shambles

Expect for Courtney he’s very soft with her

Alejandro wrecked the shit out of him the second he tried something on him

Reputation ruined forever

Harold always tries his best to avoid tickling at any cost

It flusters him a lot it’s ridiculous

LeShawna looovveees wrecking him though

I think the balance each other out as that lee and ler couple

He has suuupper ticklish ribs 👌🏾👌🏾

Sierra definitely has a tickle blog and has posts dedicated to all she learned while being in the cast

No one knows about it but the second someone stumbles on it she’s dead

Tyler is a tickle hug fiend he’ll find any reason to use them on the people he’s close to

He’s not subtle about it at all so sometimes the turns get tabled at him

Has successfully gotten Alejandro ONCE with this tactic, he’s super proud of himself for that

If around others he’ll brush off the gesture but the moment he has you alone he’ll return your affection tenfold, letting his guard down to be soft and hold your hand, kiss your forehead etc.

He’d rather die than admit it, but you make him feel special and needed, and like he matters to someone for things other than competitions.

Definitely brings out his softer side overall.

Honestly, I think once you guys get out of the show, he’d learn to cook for you too- he wants to make you feel as flustered as you make him.

Gwen:

Absolutely melts whenever you show up to your cabin with her favorites in hand. Nothing makes her more whipped than affectionate gestures like that- and it makes her love you all the more.

Will try to match by doing more overt gestures herself, like offering you her clothes or accessories so you guys can match.

Heather says something snarky and gets a muffin at her face for her trouble(one of Chef’s, not one of yours. Yours is too valuable.)

Sets up the cutest picnic dates in the forest both to hide from Chef and spend time with you.

So grateful for you, honestly.

Courtney:

Also loves to cook actually, so she makes it a competition to try and out-do you.

She tends to be more private in her romantic relationships but it becomes a lot more obvious to the others when you both get caught smuggling the others favorite ingredients and snacks.

Tries to brush it off when she gets teased for her sweet actions, but she’s super flustered.

Worries she’s not doing enough now and again until you remind her you’re doing it because she does more than enough and you just want to shower her in the same love she gives you.

Excels at baking so lots of cute dates where she makes dessert and you make the entree.

Izzy:

Is astounded by all the different ways you know how to cook things she really just puts whatever over a fire or eats it raw.

You really help her expand her palette and she has even more energy now because of it.

Wants to learn anything and everything about cooking now- constantly following after you and bouncing around the kitchen like a maniac.

Teaches you her more rudimentary cooking skills too…it’s not very good, but you love her so you help her make even cooking over an open flame delicious.

All the other campers are grateful.

Heather:

Doesn’t show it but actually really worried you’ll be caught, and is terrified you’ll get in trouble or worse from trying to be too kind.

…blackmails and bribes other campers to give you time in the kitchen and distract Chef/play guard dog.

Acts surprised every time even though she always sees it coming.

You’re just too kind for your own good- you can’t even help it.

Duncan....... eh idk. he's straight most of the time when I think of him. though I could see him being closet gay.

Gender Headcanon:

Geoff can be a trans guy purely bc his colour palette is the trans flag. im a simple man with simple tastes.

Duncan gives nb vibes but also he's like canonically transphobic so 🤷 (im joking, mostly)

A ship I have with said character:

Brigeody. Geoff has two hands.

I don't really ship Duncan with anyone but if I had to pick someone it'd be DJ. Duncan would probably make him worse but I think there's a world where DJ can make him better

A BROTP I have with said character:

Gweoff. Their friendship was SO GOOD in that one episode and I'm genuinely sad they dropped it.

I'm the only person in the world who thinks this but I wrote an entire oneshot where Sierra and Duncan are friends and it unironically made me love their hypothetical friendship. (The Ex-Fangirl and the Ex-Con on ao3 if you're curious) I also really loved him and Gwen as friends but I'll save that for another slot

A NOTP I have with said character:

I don't really have a NOTP with Geoff. all his ships range from "Yeah!" to "ehhh whatever" in my opinion. so. yay

Gwuncan. Yeah you knew it was coming. Like. I don't understand, they were so good as friends and there was a whole thing in Action about people assuming they were a thing and Gwen especially hating it, and then suddenly come World Tour they're into each other??? what??? they were so much better as friends Why Couldn't They Have Stayed Friends. and they didn't even get time to act like a couple and then in AS all they do is argue, obsess over Courtney, and then break up so what was even the point. uuuuuuuurhggrgh I know there's people who love this ship. that's totally fine obvs. it's just a ship at the end of the day. but it really grinds my gears.

Random headcanon:

Geoff owns loads of sunglasses. like so many sunglasses. every time he goes on holiday somewhere, or anywhere with a gift shop, he ALWAYS buys sunglasses. it's an actual problem lol

Duncan makes most/all of his own clothes and accessories. All-Stars floated the idea of him and Zoey sort of being friends, so let's go with that. they can bond over doing DIY together.

General Opinion:

Geoff's pretty cool. Not my favourite, but pretty cool. I liked how they made him more than just the chill party dude, and showed this mean streak of his during TDA. I love a good corruption arc. and Her Real Name Isn't Blaineley was top tier. overall he's pretty good

Duncan is... ehhh. My opinion on him fluctuates. Every time I think I hate him I remember the DJ's bunny incident, or him and Beth in the finals, and every time I start to like him I remember all of TDWT. I guess it boils down to: he definitely has his moments, but most often I'm indifferent to him or he annoys me, and sometimes stuff he does and says really gets under my skin. I do really like how he is in fanon most of the time, because normally I'm a sucker for the "tough guy with a soft side" trope, and TDA was easily the season I liked him most.

Bridgette was slipping, afraid to tell the others on what they might think. She was currently with Courtney and Gwen, surely they wouldn’t be judgmental, right? Her panicking only causes her to slip faster. She slips into a deep regression, nervous on what they’re all gonna think. She can’t hold it in anymore; tears all to the ground. She’s sobbing, pure waterworks coming out of her eyes.

“Hey, bridge, what’s wrong?” Gwen says, patting her back. Bridgette was confused on why they weren’t scolding her. Gwen picks her up, carrying her back to the cabin. “So, what’s wrong?” Gwen asks, trying to make small talk during the long hike back to camp. Bridgette mumbles, hiding her face in Gwen’s neck. Courtney giggles at how the small girl is behaving, finding it funny how she thinks she’s hiding. “Oh? Where’d Bridgette go?” Courtney says, playing along.

They finally get to camp as they walk up into the cabin. Gwen sets Bridgette down on her bed, digging around, looking for a bag. “Hey, Bridgette, this is your bag right?” Gwen says, beginning to un zip it. Bridgette squeals, sobbing hysterically, yelling a little ‘stop!’ in-between every hiccup. It was too late. Gwen had found her pull ups and pacifiers. There was everything she would need in there. Bridgette whines, scared of what they’ll think.

“Hey, we aren’t here to judge you.” Courtney reassured her. She pats Bridgette’s shoulder. Gwen unpacks everything they’ll need right now. A pull-up, a onesie, a blankie and then something else that caught her eye; a mermaid doll. It was a plush mermaid, but it seemed special. The way Bridgette’s eyes lit up, staring at the toy like it was her baby. “Hey, first let’s get you all changed, then we can, okay?” Courtney says. Courtney slowly undresses her, putting her pull up around her waist. It was an ocean themed pull up, little guppies were all over it.

After that, Gwen put on her onesie. It was a soft fleece one, little turtles and other sea creatures all over it. “You like the sea, huh?” Gwen giggles. She places the pacifier in Bridgette’s mouth, picking up the girl and rocking her gently. “What a soft baby..” Gwen coos, causing Bridgette to let out some happy giggles.

Bridgette tries to grab for her mermaid doll. “Oh, here you go, tiny!” Courtney says, booping Bridgette’s nose. Bridgette giggles at the sudden action, enjoying the affection she can get. She snuggles up into Gwen, still being rocked like a tiny baby, although this time she has her best mermaid friend.

Courtney opens the bag more, finding a bottle. “Is someone thirsty?” She asks. Bridgette nods, causing Courtney to run out to the cafeteria real fast. “Hey little one, how old are you?” Gwen asks curiously. Bridgette sticks up 3 fingers, clapping after doing so. “Awh, what a tiny girl!” Gwen coos, rocking her still like she’s the most precious baby ever.

Shortly after, Courtney comes running back, the full bottle in her hand. Gwen gently takes out Bridgette’s paci, replacing it with the bottle full of warm milk. Gwen sits down, placing Bridge on her lap. “Ooh, someone’s very thirsty!” Courtney coos, staring right at the sweet and thirsty baby.

Bridgette starts to fall asleep, finishing up the milk slowly, her eyes closing. Gwen pulls out the bottle, replacing it for her pacifier. Bridgette snuggles up to Gwen as she holds her mermaid plush closer to her. Courtney tucks the two in, making sure they’re cozy. Gwen notices Bridgette fell asleep, causing her to smile.

“Goodnight, my little mermaid.” Gwen says, kissing her cheek, dozing off with her in her arms.

That’s how little Bridgette got the nickname that means the whole world to her now.

I was wondering, how would you design Sunny? Would you stick with the shows' interpretations, actually make her different from Gwen, or...? If I might add my two cents, as much as I love goth takes and even if black and purple are Sunny's designated colours, I'm really not too sold on the implications behind her Omniverse redesign. I just don't think it fits her character.

On the one hand, that colour palette actually works better for that particular outfit; for me at least, turning nerdy into goth actually works in this case (or maybe it's just my soft spot for plaid skirts talking). But on the other hand...Sunny's character just doesn't say "goth" to me, you know? Not even Perky Goth. From what we got of her in Girl Trouble she's more of a traditionally Girly Girl (constantly talking about her boyfriend, the one (1) activity she showed any interest in aside from wrecking robots was shopping...) and a Party Girl (her aforementioned interest and delight in wrecking robots and laser-focused mindset on having fun) combined.

And I guess I was just curious about your own takes on the character. Thanks so, so much :)

hihi good to see you again!! was actually thinking about this earlier, so here you go!! i feel like gwen has never put any makeup on in her life aside from lip gloss so sunny is super caked, and i was kind of inspired by courtney from paranorman? feel like she'd be that kind of character. anyway, hope you enjoy!!

On friday, I finished Total Drama Island - Total Drama All Stars, so, I want to express my opinion about evey gen 1 character! ((Alejandro, Sierra, and Blainely will be included!))

also includes spoilers and mentions of both nudity and threats

Beth - Honestly, I didn’t care about her much on Island and Action, but I do respect her for standing up to Heather and calling Courtney out. Someone had to at the time and I’m happy that it was her

Bridgette - God..what CAN I say abt her?? Her obvious worst season was World Tour, she was one of my least favorites in that season, but apart from that, she was a pretty decent character in both island and action

Cody - I forgot he existed for the 3 seasons he’s in until the final 3 tbh- He was so forgettable to me, but I feel bad for him in world tour

Courtney - 3 words; I hated her. She’s my least favorite character. I did try to give her the benefit of the doubt by trying to find her "iconic" moments, however, it was just her being a bitch and threatening people not once, but TWICE to split the million or die. The absolute ONLY time where she seemed like a good person was island, and she was part of the problem in that HORRIBLE love triangle story, I just don’t see the appeal of her

DJ - Bro was a soft giant- he didn’t deserve any of the treatment he got, I at least wanted him to be eliminated fairly, but nah, in all the seasons he was featured in, he was eliminated so unfairly like cmon..

Duncan -Apart Duncan being a big ‘bad boy’ , he didn’t strike me that way- he’s more like an 2018 gacha bad boy that tries so hard to be cool, especially at all stars, it was cringe-

Katie & Sadie - I forgot they both existed since they technically only competed in one season, but I do think they could’ve been minor antagonists since they’re best friends and could’ve been manipulative together

Geoff - Easily one of my favorite boy characters in the entire show, he was a chill guy ((although very chaotic)) and was honestly robbed in island, I was rooting for him

Gwen - If there was overrated put into one character, it’s Gwen, she is decent, yea, but Island was her best season, and only that- Although, she was a close favorite to me in All Stars, she was caring, but did not have to be in that damn love triangle.

Justin - He was OK. Not good, but not that bad either, he had some funny lines but I do wish he used way more than his looks

LeShawna - I do understand why she has the love and fame that she does, she isn’t afraid to talk shit and throw hands while being compassionate and competitive, it was a really nice mix of personalities for her, even tho I don’t understand her sudden turn on Heather when it seemed like they were gonna be friends in action

Noah - I HATE how this man actually got some development in World Tour when he could’ve had more if he’d just play dodgeball in island.. it’s still so annoying to me. But, his humor was fucking great and i’ll forever make fun of him for his gay ass running LMFAO

Owen - I never really understood his humor, and I don’t think that he should’ve won island, it didn’t fit him in the long run, no matter how kind he was..plus the nudity on NATIONAL TELEVISION was disgusting, he didn’t made me laugh in the slightest

Eva - I wish she stayed longer in the merge, she seemed like a hard worker and she was growing on me a bit-

Harold - Half of the time, I didn’t know what he was saying, he was super confusing but he did have good tastes in crushes, even tho he did get turned down

Heather - I know I’m going to sound like a hypocrite with how my opinion was with Courtney, but Heather is my favorite character in the seasons she competed in, and at least she’s mean and doesn’t manage to make it annoying to listen to, I love how she didn’t play and automatically started making alliances and talked strategy. Her win was definitely the most deserved one out of the show, and probably the most well written out of the cast

Trent - His derailment was so sad to watch like..He obviously cared for Gwen, and was probably the most sane person in Island- ..I think that’s all I can say abt him

Lindsay - She was iconically stupid and smart, I loved her a lot, and she definitely deserved to win action, very robbed there

Tyler - I felt super bad for him, his fear being used after bring eliminated, to Lindsay forgetting about him after action..I’m just glad that he’s finally remembered by Lindsay ((and hopefully dating))

Ezekiel - I see why people don’t like him..That’s it.

Izzy ((I forgot to add her)) - The IT girl of the show along with Heather, I loved her, and even tho she always lost, she never failed to be entertaining on screen, 100% my favorite crazy girl

Alejandro - Definitely the right love interest for Heather, he’s manipulative, simpable, and caused many eliminations. He played the game, and I like him because of that

Sierra - Apart from Courtney, she is also my least favorite character. Why? She’s stalkerish, knows NO personal space apart from Cody going to the bathroom, and is just overall a bad character- It seemed like the only thing she was good for was carrying Cody throughout the entire season..

Blainely: We’ve met this girl for like 3 episodes so I can’t provide much on her, however, she had the most iconic elimination ever..and you’ve really gotta be hated if you have a whole ass song dissing you by the chillest guy ever-

All stars is bad but it’s not like all bad here are some things I liked about all stars:

•Lightning was hilarious in Evil Dread that episode was funny tbh

•Alejandro stealing Heather’s immunity statue and getting her out with a single vote was iconic

•Sam’s arc was really good, you guys shit on him a lot and say he didn’t belong but I liked seeing him put it all down for his team and do anything to help them compared to how he was only motivated by video games and Dakota last season. The only character who got better in AS tbh

•Zoke kiss zoke kiss zoke kiss zoke k

•Mal had sooooo much potential and he was fucking hilarious you know this if you’ve followed my blog for a bit, Mal is my favorite character and I’m literally rewriting all stars just bc I love him so much he’s so cool and this season would’ve been a million times worse without him and his stupid fucking emo hair

•Cameron being on the villains team opened up a lot of potential for a second arc and I like that

•Gwen’s victim complex and Courtney being awful to the heroes was not fun but they were kinda cute together

•Duncan going soft and blowing up Chris’ house because he was feeling insecure bc being a bad boy is his only trait and he’s got lost in it was just like. Idk that hurt a little he’s actually way better here than in WT even if his obsession with Courtney was absolute ass

•Scourtney was pretty cute I wish we’d gotten to see them scheme more they were adorable in the egg episode

•Also even though Scott lost his edge this season I love me a good dumbass he was funny

•The villains actually had some cute moments together. Like Lightning handing Gwen the shovel with no ulterior motive, and Jo being happy Duncan liked her Killer Zingers

•Alejandro was ooc but he was kinda funny, especially with Heather. Aleheather my beloved. They were my little pogchamps this season

•Sierra with short hair :) also Duncan’s eyeliner was on point

•Gwen and Cameron had an adorable friendship, so did Gwen and Zoey

•Also ZOEY AND MIKE WIN queen and king shit, they didn’t really get to shine here but they were so interesting in ROTI and they deserve it

•Sunday Muddy Sundae was an atrocity and it’s the actual worst episode in the entire series but, Courtney in the final five :)

Omg I love your loner Duncan and Popular Courtney idea I have a few thoughts on some things that I could see happening. This is after their exchange on the project thing.

- Courtney invites Duncan to sit with her and her friends at lunch because he always sits alone. He hesitates but agrees. So she takes him to her lunch spot where she sits with (Geoff,Bridgette,Trent and Gwen) so far it goes well he gets a long with them. But Courtney gets up to leave for a minute because her student council needs help with something.

- When she’s gone Bridgette asks Duncan how he knows Courtney and he tells Bridgette about them being partners for a project and how Courtney invited him to sit with her. And Bridgette just says “oh that was nice of her to include you.” Duncan just looks off into nothing with a goofy expression and says “Yeah she’s amazing.”

- Everyone at the table looks at each other knowingly. Geoff is the first one to speak up and is like “ Woah somebody has a crush on Court!!” which snaps Duncan out of his gaze and denies it. Then Courtney comes back and sits next to him and he just thinks do I like her.

- Anyways after school is over they go to Courtney’s house to work on the project and her parents are not home and she explains to him how her parents are hardly ever home and she’s usually alone. It shocks him because she’s little miss perfect so he imagined her having a perfect home life.

- That aside he comforts her because he also knows what it’s like to be alone (obviously) they just have a moment of vulnerability. She thanks him for comforting her and she’s kinda embarrassed and her cheeks are pink which Duncan found adorable.

- After that she grabs Duncan’s hand and leads him to her room and he’s blushing the whole way up there. They get to her bedroom and sit down at her desk and start the project and Duncan’s freaking out because here he is alone in a bedroom with a pretty girl.

That’s all I got but I just have to say this gives me virgin Duncan and experienced Courtney vibes.

Also YES to them bonding over being lonely, Duncan probably hated or just didn't like Courtney bc he thought she had an easy life and didn't deserve it and she's not that nice anyway and doesn't know anything about life but he finds out she's just as lonely as he is at home, and her parents are never there, she might as well just live alone, and all she does is just so they pay attention to her a little, sometimes she's barely keeping it together but she loves responsibility and feeling useful and giving herself... Use, bc life doesn't give her any.

AND YES to experienced Courtney and virgin Duncan lol. I figure she doesn't have much experience because she claims she's too busy for boys and stuff but she had some experiences in summer camps and boyfriends she didn’t date for more than 3 months. Their first time would be cute lol, she knows what to do but hasn't really enjoyed it and Duncan has no idea what's going on and she's guiding him and he's checking everything is okay all the time and that she's comfortable and aks her if she wants to keep going every minute lol.

also some of the challenges were a lot easier, or at the very least, harder to fail than others this ep. i love it but come on. lindsay and sadie vs like. gwen vs owen and izzy vs dj. there were very different time limits, actual fright level, ability to back out once they were doing the challenge.... not a fair challenge

also uhm. if we’re being technical tyler and heather had the exact same reaction to their fears, so why did heather get a point and tyler didn’t? if the chicken had run at him, would he have won? smh

i do love this episode so much but. i had a couple complaints

killer bass five headcanons

there’s no reason for this i just love the idea of them as a friend group

when dj comes out as gay bridge throws him a “coming out party”, he claims not to need one but she’s super proud of him and wants to celebrate it so she fills his apartment with balloons and invites a few of their friends over and they get really, really drunk

coincidentally courtney comes out as bi that night, she doesn’t remember it but dj pulls her aside to talk about it the next day and is super supportive of her and they have a bonding moment where they talk about growing up in the closet (she also admits to having had a crush on gwen at one point and squashing it down because of how she betrayed her - duncan knows this, of course, but she’s never gone into as much detail as she does with deej)

the rest of the five make sure they both know they love and support them and it’s all very sweet but dj has to tell geoff at one point that he’s actually not into surfer dudes and that he doesn’t think he’s brody’s type, either

bridgette and geoff get a cat together (it’s actually geoff’s idea, although bridge gets on board fairly quickly) and duncan, of all people, is at their house like five days a week for the first month they have the cat just to see it. nobody has any issue with it but court teases him to no end

of course they follow suit and get a cat of their own not too long after, he’s an old ragdoll mix because court has a soft spot for older cats and duncan just wants a little fluffy thing to run around the house (he has mild attachment issues and courtney’s busy a lot - so he likes the company)

dj and bridge go to vet school together, bridge takes a job with an animal shelter after they graduate while dj becomes a vet tech

duncan gets a job at an autobody shop and starts dragging everyone along to classic car shows; courtney is the first to go and he makes a date out of it, they eat good italian food and then take a walk down main street to watch the cars go by, court thinks it’s super cute when he sees one he’s impressed by and starts explaining the mechanics of it to her even though she doesn’t understand a word he’s saying (he’s a lot smarter than he pretends to be so seeing him geek out over something is a privilege)

music festivals become a summer tradition after dj takes them to one and they all find they like different aspects of it; bridge likes it for the indie music and the different outfits everyone wears, geoff and duncan mostly enjoy the weed, and court loves how carefree everyone is. she takes the opportunity to dance with everyone, especially deej because he gets all goofy and smiley

bridge teaches all of them to surf, geoff already knows how and dj isn’t great at it but court ends up being a natural; duncan tags along but normally just lounges on the beach. he claims its “for the view” (courtney) but he secretly enjoys the alone time, he uses it to sketch all of them looking peaceful and enjoying themselves out on the waves

they have a gift exchange every halloween because no one will let bridgette buy them christmas gifts, she goes super overboard and puts a bunch of thought into them and they all worry about her spending too much money. so one year she suggests halloween gifts and nobody thinks anything of it but suddenly it’s a yearly excuse for her to shower them all with love and attention and lots of gifts. they let it slide because she’s impossible to say no to and she just gets so happy when they open her presents

geoff kidnaps courtney whenever she’s getting overly stressed and takes her down to this little family-run seafood restaurant on the coast; she finds it hard to talk to him the first time he does it but she relaxes very quickly and ends up looking forward to their little solo trips. he has a way of making all her problems seem small and it’s nice for her to get away sometimes. they’ll go out for ice cream together and walk along the pier and it’s all very date-ish but it’s so special for two of them, seeing as they’re best friends with each other’s respective partners and they don’t get much alone time together. bridge jokes once that duncan might have to be wary of geoff stealing his girl and everyone present immediately sends her enough glares for her to throw up her hands in defeat and snuggle back into geoff

karaoke nights are a bridgette, courtney, dj thing. they go out once a month and book a room and just do whatever for an hour. courtney is a really good singer and so is dj, so they’ll do duets for bridgette and she loves to watch them once they’re a few drinks in and stumbling over the words to fergalicious

duncan volunteers at bridgette’s shelter a lot once he and court adopt their first cat, and they get along really well, so sometimes they’ll go for drinks afterwards and rant about their significant others and their workloads and bridge will end up crashing on their couch, much to courtney’s amusement. they claim it’s payback for the court-geoff “date nights” that are pretty much a weekly thing at this point

they go on group dates once deej is comfortable with introducing his boyfriend to them. duncan and courtney are always the first to leave but nobody ever minds

they have a long-standing tradition dating back to their total drama days of sitting down over a meal and having a quick check-in. obviously the food back then was much worse but now it’s usually a take-out pizza and a few beers

bridge introduces them to the idea of beach bonfires and duncan is always quick to suggest it when they need a chance to unwind and have some fun

the groupchat isn’t used often since they all live so close and spend so much time together but when it is used, it’s either duncan sending sneaky pictures of courtney to piss her off or geoff sending some cheesy inspirational quote he found online

deej is the first to get married out of all of them. bridge organizes most of the wedding and court agrees to sing for him; she even pulls out her violin. nobody says anything when duncan has to step outside because he’s tearing up. geoff gives a very long, inappropriate speech but at least no one can say he wasn’t entertaining

the next wedding is geoff and bridgette’s, a short five months after dj’s. courtney is the maid of honor and deej does all the catering. the boys all get matching tattoos to commemorate the occasion (dj’s is in a very easily hidden place) and the bachelor party is a bit off the rails. dj is the only one who remembers it but he won’t tell them much

when duncan and courtney finally get married the group has drifted apart a bit but they pull back together in time and talk for weeks afterwards about how good it was to hang out again

all of their kids call the rest of the group their aunts and uncles; unsurprisingly, uncle geoff is a fan favorite, especially with dj’s little girl

kids keep them busy but they still make time roughly once a month to see each other, even if the kids have to tag along or be left with family for the night

Zoey isn’t boring she’s just not as nice as people think she is she has a not like other girls hypocrisy to her and she’s holier than thou. So it’s annoying to see people paint her as the good character to the og characters who were poorly derailed after being complex and interesting not just I’m good but not really and if you question it how dare you.

idk like, Zoey gets it bad because on one side people call her too perfect and on the other people call her not perfect enough because she does, as you pointed out, have flaws and moral failings. I think Zoey’s funniest moments are the times when she acts a little bit mean or even flat out weird, and like.

I’m biased obviously bc I love her, I’m not actually mad at anyone who doesn’t like her.

On one hand, I feel like this: Everyone wants to see the main cast being friends and having fun and being kind to each other, they like DESPERATELY want to see that, and yet when Zoey Mike and Cam do it they’re like “Ew no not them. I want those other ones to do it.”

But then, like, there is a reason for that even if it seems at first glance like some kind of hypocrisy --

Watchers want growth. Emotional change in characters.

If Courtney starts nasty and ends nasty, it leaves you wishing she could’ve had an actual emotional arc.

If Zoey starts nice and ends nice, it again leaves you wanting more complexity (even if, imho, people are more willing to see Evil as complex than Kindness.)

People want to see characters learn lessons and evolve, which is something TD has never been especially good at doing. I think the closest they got was TDI Duncney, where the Hard Boy became Soft and the Uptight Girl learned to loosen up -- but they couldn’t even really keep that going.

Ultimately, all we want from a story is for a character to begin one way and end another -- and TD almost never, ever gives us that.

But characters like Zoey, Mike and Cam catch all of the flack for that while the fact that Gwen has not had anything even lightly resembling character development over 4 seasons is just glossed over

like seriously has Gwen ever learned even one lesson or changed in any way whatsoever. All Stars came the closest w/ her identity dilemma but it, Again, couldn’t be carried through.

Thoughts on Gwen from Total Drama? Is she really the worst character ever?

Hi there~ Thanks for asking! :D

I have a lot of thoughts on her, so I hope you don’t mind a long answer, anon ^^;;;

I honestly don’t understand why so many people hate Gwen so much. I really like her a lot. She was always my favorite (along with Noah) ever since I first watched TDI. We have a lot of things in common, so I relate to her a lot. I’m not going to say she’s perfect, but... she really didn’t do anything wrong?? Sure, she made some mistakes, but she’s human. And I don’t think it’s right to demonize her so heavily because of the drama she was involved with.

Season 1 Gwen is the best. She’s sarcastic and witty, but also has a soft side. Her relationship with Trent was my absolute favorite TD OTP. They were so sweet together and it’s a shame that Fresh TV had to ruin them in Season 2 (I’ll get to that in a sec). Gwen came on the show with a gloomy attitude and didn’t intend to make any friends, but watching her bond with Leshawna, Bridgette, Cody (despite him trying to hit on her), Duncan, and later on, Geoff, was all really heartwarming. I especially love her friendships with Leshawna and Geoff. Season 1 Gwen really was Top Tier and I feel like most people in the TD fandom agree.

Then came Season 2 and suddenly everyone started disliking her, both in-universe and also in the fandom. She started off the season really well, dating Trent and doing well in the challenges. But once Trent started getting really obsessive with her (as well as his dumb Number 9 tick, that was AWFUL), he started throwing the challenges for her and letting her team win. Gwen didn’t want him purposefully losing for her and the fact that he was starting to go crazy was really getting to her, as it should have. So she did the responsible thing and broke up with him. Sure, it was sad, because their relationship started off so strong, but what else was she supposed to do? He was the one getting way out of hand, and it’s realistic that she would’ve broken things off with him because of it. She didn’t want for him to be voted off, but when she was cornered by Trent’s team, she felt like she really had no choice but to let them get rid of him. But what really frustrates me is that the team continued to make Gwen feel bad about it and blamed her for Trent throwing the challenges, when it really wasn’t her fault at all! She tried to tell Trent to stop, but he wouldn’t listen to her. The entirety of the Season 2 Gwen drama was Trent’s fault, and his sob story about why Number 9 is his lucky number is NOT enough to make up for everything else. None of that was Gwen’s responsibility. She did what she was supposed to do and everyone hated her for it. Also, Courtney started her “Gwen is trying to steal Duncan from me” vendetta this season for literally no reason and that’s bullshit. Gwen and Duncan really weren’t a thing until Season 3, but the show tried to pretend that Gwen was crushing on him because they were friends and they chatted like three times onscreen.

Now we’re onto Season 3, where everyone despised Gwen because of the love triangle. I should start by saying that the Courtney x Duncan x Gwen fiasco is really poorly written and was completely unnecessary. I hate the way they went about it and if it were up to me, I’d get rid of it entirely. But the reasons why I don’t like it are kinda different from the rest of the fandom’s opinions. I don’t think Duncan should’ve been with either of them. I loved Duncan x Courtney in Season 1 because they had a really good buildup with great chemistry and the two of them worked really well with the “opposites attract” trope. But they were completely ruined in Season 2 when Courtney became super overcontrolling and tried to change Duncan into the boyfriend that she thought was “good enough”, which is already a completely toxic mindset and that put me off of Courtney for the rest of the show. She was already pretty bossy and annoying in Season 1, but I liked her because Duncan helped to balance and mellow her out. But alas, she ruined it and any good chance of a relationship between Duncan and her shattered. Then, Gwen came into the picture and things did not get any better. Instead of just keeping Duncan and Courtney broken up, they pulled the “off and on” bullshit between them, having them break up and then putting them back together again like 3 times. However, when Gwen and Duncan start their relationship in Season 3, Courtney and Duncan were not together. When Duncan returned to the show, Courtney automatically assumed that he’d just take her back and began acting like nothing had ever happened. But Duncan was very clearly not interested in her, and had his sights set on Gwen. While yes, Duncan never explicitly told Courtney off and that he wasn’t going to date her and yes, that is absolutely on him, he didn’t really act like a boyfriend to Courtney at all and went out of his way to avoid her. So when he and Gwen kissed, everyone acted like it was Gwen’s fault and that she’d “stolen” Courtney’s boyfriend, when really, they weren’t dating in the first place (something that Gwen later points out in All Stars).

And then comes Season 5: All Stars. This is not a good season. Everyone’s characters are messed up and the entire narrative is a mess. But, Gwen in this season did everything she could to make up with Courtney. She (rightfully) dumped Duncan and then spent every day trying to do nice things for Courtney in hopes that she’d see how truly sorry she was for hurting her and damaging their friendship (which wasn’t even Gwen’s fault in the first place and she had no reason to apologize, but whatever, go off I guess). But again, it was Courtney who kept refusing to forgive her and kept holding onto her delusional grudges. They did eventually make-up, but even that was short lived as Courtney still planned to get rid of her in secret, so that was essentially useless.

I apologize this got a lot longer than I had expected it to, but I have a LOT of thoughts about this show that I never get to talk about lolol. I really appreciate you asking and thank you to anyone who read through the whole thing XD

Inspo credit and mad love to @stuckupwindbag your post about Duncan’s first PO becoming a monk totally inspired this. Then it turned into a 5+1 cause I’m a sucker for those things.

One-

Oddly enough, Courtney first finds it through a letter. She hadn’t meant to be snooping, but with their relationship beginning again, trust was a touchy subject. She can just hear her mother’s voice- “once a cheater always a cheater hun, don’t ever forget that.'' To be fair, he left the open letter in plain view. It was just sitting on top of his kitchen counter close to where she placed her car keys. She was only looking for her keys when she accidently ended up glancing at the letter. It was handwritten. She would only skim it.

Duncan,

Nice to hear from you personally instead of through your new parole officer asking for advice. Glad to see that you’re out of trouble nowadays. I always knew you had a golden heart. Speaking of advice, I gave you some that I know you took- Congrats on the outcome - I finally did listen to my heart as well. After some traveling I found my place on a mountain on a little island. I’m finally at peace and I’m happy. Never thought I would say this, but thanks for getting in trouble all those years ago. I wouldn’t be on top of the world if it wasn’t for you.

“We met the first time I got out of juvie, he was meant to be a mentor to me sorta. It didn’t work out that way. I kept getting into trouble and he tried to help, but he couldn’t because of protocol. I didn’t really care, but it bothered the hell out of him. Right before I left for Island, I told him to quit his job and do some soul searching since he was so unhappy. Besides, I figured I’d win and I wouldn’t need him anymore. Guess he finally found his calling.”

Duncan shrugs it off like it’s no big deal, but Courtney knows there’s more to the story he’s not telling her. She doesn’t push for the details, just happily accepts that he opened up about a piece of his past.

Two-

She almost loses it when she finds him repeatedly liking the same girl’s post on Instagram. She decides to get information before confronting him. When she finds out the girl was an ex she was ready to kill him, until she reads through the comments. The first picture is of a selfish of this gorgeous blonde with blue eyes. The caption read: Your fav girl is back, and this time with a new username!

duncansthename: with love huh?

ashwithlove: you know it dunkie (;

The second picture wasn’t any better. The same girl is smiling at the camera in a bikini at the beach. The caption read: Sun’s out so your fav hun’s out!

duncansthename: you’re not very creative Ash.

ashwithlove: did you even read your own @?

duncansthename: lol same old Ashley

ashwithlove: back at cha asshole (:

The third picture is when she became curious instead of just angry. Another selfie except this time her hair was considerably shorter. The caption read: New hair, who dis?

duncansthename: geez who hurt you babe?

ashwithlove: *rolls eyes* says the guy who broke up with me through a text.

duncansthename: we were 13! I said sorry already, besides you were going to do the same thing.

ashwithlove: I know, I’m just teasing (:

The fourth and final picture she comes across is what finally gives her all the pieces. Ashley was smiling with her eyes and both hands up pointing at a rainbow. The caption read: Never been happier in my life than right at this moment.

duncansthename: guessing it went well then, congrats Ash

ashwithlove: I owe it to you dunkie! Thanks to you, I can be ash with love <3

duncansthename: don’t get all soft on me now, I don’t do that shit

ashwithlove: sure tough guy, maybe I should message your princess (;

duncansthename: stay away from my girl, you live on the other side of the world now anyways

ashwithlove: no promises, besides the heart knows not distance only love

duncansthename: you’re unbelievable

ashwithlove: I learned from the best (;

“Pizza’s here if you’re ready for a break Princess.”

Even though she was no longer jealous, she still wanted to make sure her assumptions were correct.

“Duncan, who’s Ashley?”

He doesn’t even flinch, a good sign since he all but jumped away when she confronted him about Gwen way back.

“She’s an ex girlfriend of mine. My first girlfriend actually.”

“Oh…”

“Don’t worry Princess, I’m not carrying a torch for her. Besides, she has a girlfriend now.”

“You’re not just saying that right?”

“No? That’s a dumb thing to lie about. If you met her, you would know. She’d hit on you instantly.”

“But you just said she has a girlfriend.”

“Her girl would probably hit on you too. You’re fucking gorgeous Court.”

She feels her cheeks warm up at his compliment. She still wasn’t used to him being sweet again, so she shrugs it off.

“Stop changing the subject.”

“Just being honest. Anyways, you just reminded me to reply to her message.”

“You still message each other?”

“Every now and then… She says hi… shit and now she’s FaceTiming.”

“Dunkie! Let me talk to your princess! I know she’s there!”

“No! I always knew you would try and steal my girlfriend after having your heart broken by me.”

“As if. You were the one left heartbroken after I came out to you.”

“Yeah yeah, whatever.”

“Okay, but for real. Thanks dude! I can finally be me now. It’s officially! Your fav girl is out and proud! Mom took it better than I thought and she’s going to meet Dana on Monday!”

“Told you she would accept you. Your mom loves you.”

“I know, thanks for listening though.”

“Anything for my first girlfriend.”

“Careful, I might actually hold you to that! I gotta go, but double date soon?”

“You live in London!”

“So? Okay I really gotta go! Bye Dunkie! Tell your princess I said hi!”

Ashley hangs up on the call leaving Duncan slightly annoyed, but not really. He was about to apologize to Courtney, but she stops him. There was no need, besides the pizza was getting cold.

Three-

If being on a reality show taught Courtney anything was that she shouldn’t be surprised at anything. Still, she was caught off guard when she bumped into Chef Hatchet on her daily run through the park. She was even more thrown off when she sees that he’s not alone. He had six kids with him. He lets them take their hands off the walking rope as long as they promise to stay within the playground. The children all nodded yes then ran off towards the slides and swings.

“Courtney? Is that you?”

“Chef? What are you doing here?”

“Just taking the daycare kids on an outing. They’re repairing our playground, so I thought it would be nice to take the kids to the park.”

“Daycare kids?”

“Yeah! I’m a daycare teacher now.”

She must be in an alternate reality, there’s no way Chef Hatchet could be around children voluntarily. Especially with half the shit he helped pull on Total Drama, no sane person would hire the man.

“I can see you’re confused, but this is my true calling!”

“No offense Chef, but are you okay? Do I need to take you to the hospital?”

“I’m perfectly fine, Courtney. I thought Duncan would have told you already.”

“Duncan?”

“Yeah, he was the one to convince me I needed to do something different.”

“Wait, Duncan told you to quit and you actually listened?”

“He gives pretty good advice, that kid’s a good listener. I’ve never been happier.”

“What exactly did he say to you?”

“Just that even I deserve to be happy and to give it a chance.”

One of the kids starts crying and Chef is immediately on the move. It’s a strange sight, but Chef is extremely patient with the child and soon the little one is off running again. Who would have thought?

Four-

Courtney was ready to go grab her second cup of coffee when her phone buzzes. It was a text from Heather. She was going to ignore it until she saw that her boyfriend’s name was mentioned.

Heather: I just wanted to say I’m sorry. Pass that message to Duncan. He still has my number blocked.

Courtney: How do you even have my number? Also why were you texting Duncan?

Heather: Your boyfriend’s the one who gave it to me. Also that’s none of your business.

Courtney: You made it my business when you texted me. What did you do?

Heather: I didn’t do anything… okay fine I bitched him out for being nosy.

Courtney: Um… what?

Heather: He was butting in on my relationship with Alejandro again.

Courtney: Are you sure we're talking about the same Duncan?

Heather: Okay fine. I may have bothered him about my relationship.

Courtney: … and why would you do that?

Heather: He’s honest and he’s not afraid to tell it to my face even if he knows I’ll get angry.

Heather: Look, just tell him I’m sorry and that Alejandro and I are okay now.

Duncan picks her up after work and she immediately wants to bring up the messages. She waits until they’re back at her place to say anything.

“How was work Princess?”

“Fine… um… so Heather says she’s sorry?”

He raises an eyebrow at that. He wasn’t expecting that either apparently.

“I told her to only talk to you in case of emergencies. I should have never given her your number, sorry Court.”

“Normally I would be angry, but I’m just curious now.”

“Heather’s been picking fights with Alejandro because she’s afraid of commitment. She found out we got back together, so she asked me how we did it. I told her that she was being stupid and that he clearly loves her. Somehow I end up listening to her break up and get back together with him only to break up again. This was only last month too.”

“Well, I guess they’re back together again. She told me I should tell you that too. Is that why you blocked her? Cause she was being too annoying?”

“No. She obviously loves the guy, she just needed someone to slap some sense into her. I’m surprised she apologized though.”

“Me too, guess she’s really changed. Are you going to unblock her? I think she genuinely feels bad.”

“She should after what she said.”

Courtney waits patiently to see if he would tell her, and just like last time, he does. There were no secrets between the two. Duncan just had a bad habit of forgetting to tell her things that he didn’t think was important.

“She said some shit about you and I got pissed.”

“Typical. Well I don’t care what she thinks. I can’t believe she would talk about me and expect me to help her.”

Her phone buzzes and she can’t help but roll her eyes at the message. It was from Heather again, unbelievable.

Heather: By the way, you’re both invited to my engagement party.

Five-

Courtney learned long ago that she could only count on herself. She learned that the hard way after she started drifting apart from her sister and her parents were no help. Admittedly, part of it is her fault too. They were always interested in different things, it was hard to find common ground.

Things started to change on her birthday. She gets a call from Cate and maybe it’s because they’re older now, but they reconnect. She’s grateful that she at least has one family member she can count on.

The two sisters become inseparable and they tell each other everything. Today was no different.

“I can’t stand him sometimes, but I love him.”

“He’s a good guy Court. You know, I still haven’t thanked him yet.”

“Thank him for what?”

“For bringing us together.”

“What are you going on about Cate?”

“While mom and dad were going through their divorce he reached out to me and asked how I was doing. He told me that you didn’t take it very well and he suggested that we talk about it. I put it off for months. I didn’t know what to say, but then it was your birthday and I knew this was my chance to say something without it being totally awkward. Now here we are.”

“He did that?”

“He did. He really loves you big sis. You picked a good one.”

She smiles at that. It’s true. She didn’t fall for a bad boy after all.

A bonus-

She used to think he ruined her life, turns out he made it so much better. Well, until now.

She almost hangs up at him when she got the phone call. The only reason she didn’t is because her stupid heart told her she still loves him. She really should’ve expected this. He went to juvie, he had a record, why wouldn’t he end up in jail again?

“Princess are you still there?”

“You wanna tell me why you’re locked up? Again!”

“How was I supposed to know I wasn’t allowed to walk inside?”

“The door was locked and it was someone else’s home!”

“Well they need a better security system, that was way too easy.”

“I’m going to hang up on you.”

“Wait! I’m kidding. Sorry, can you please just come bail me out.”

“I’ll think about it.”

She hangs up the phone then screams into the closest throw pillow. It was supposed to be their date night and now her date was in jail. He is never going to hear the end of this once she bails him out. She was all dressed up and now she was going to waste it by going to a detention center.

She was still fuming as she gave the address to the Uber driver. She didn’t even notice that she had arrived until the driver told her so. Except she was definitely not where she needed to be. She was in a neighborhood with nice houses up and down the block. Duncan must’ve given her the address of the house he broke into instead. Great. She was just about to figure out how to call Duncan back when the phone rings again.

“Are you here yet Princess?”

“I thought you only get one phone call.”

“I took another guy’s turn. Where are you at?”

“I’m at the house you tried to break into. You gave me the wrong address!”

“Shit. Sorry, it’s right down the street. Just cut across the park and you should be there.”

“You’re in so much trouble when I get there!”

She had to take a deep breath and calm herself before she started walking. He is so lucky she loves him.

When she enters the park, bright lights catch her attention. She wants to look away, but the path is along the lights. She stops when she reaches the bridge. There he was standing in the middle smiling at her. She heads toward him already asking a bunch of questions, but he doesn’t answer any of it. Instead he pulls her close and kisses her. When her eyes open he’s kneeling on the ground with a ring.

“Courtney, I love you. You’re my favorite girl and I know that everything that happened in my past lead me to you. I know I can be myself around you and still be accepted. We have our ups and downs, and I know I don’t deserve you, but I love you. There’s no one else I can count on without fear of judgement. You’re my princess, marry me?”

“Yes! Of course it’s a yes! I love you too and that’s all that matters.”

She brings him up to kiss him again then he slips the ring on her finger. It fit perfectly.

“You know, you really had me worried.”

“I’m not dumb enough to get caught. I left that life behind me anyways.”

“No, not that. I was worried that you were going to lose your good reputation.”

“Did I scare you that badly? My reputation is anything but good Court.”

“Oh I don’t know Dunkie, I think there are a few people who would say otherwise.”

A/N- There probably could’ve been a better title... anyways, 5 times Courtney finds out Duncan changes someone’s life for the better and the one time he changes her life for the better. (Alternatively you can say that she changes his life for the bonus as well).

“What am I to you?” / and i OOP---

HE HAD KNOWN THIS CONVERSATION WAS COMING, especially after what had happened on the show. he could only imagine how she must be viewing the whole situation of world tour, the kiss that had happened in the confessional, the way he had acted after she had been eliminated and the new battle growing between himself, courtney and her. he didn’t want to have this conversation because he couldn’t tell her the truth and he didn’t want to lie to gwen. how could he explain to her that his actions weren’t what she might be viewing it as? he loved gwen, he loved her like a best friend and may be the closest he had to a sister but . . . he wasn’t in control anymore, chris had him locked in a new kind of contract with clauses towards what was happening between gwen and him. he was chris’ puppet now, all because he had quit and gwen was the collateral damage in his attempt to protect courtney. he was going to lose everyone he cared about, courtney hated him, his mom was furious about his treatment of courtney and if gwen ever found out the truth about what chris was making him do, then he would lose his best friend forever. something which he really didn’t want to happen, he would do ANYTHING to stop himself from losing another person.

HE DIDN’T KNOW WHERE TO START WITH THIS, could he really do this? could he try to get himself to the same level that gwen was? would he do that to try and make sure he didn’t have to lose someone else? yes, it was horrible thing to do, but he couldn’t lose anyone else. gwen was still so IMPORTANT to him and there had always been that curiosity with her, the what if’s that he had ignored when he had been with courtney. was there still a part of him that felt TRAPPED in all of this? yes, but it wasn’t on gwen, that was on chris and that was a separate issue. gwen is his best friend, who is to say that she couldn’t be someone he could fall IN LOVE with. she was beautiful, smart, funny and witty, she was the kind of the girl that fit with him perfectly, they got along and he was comfortable with her in a way that made him curious about what they could really be. could they really be the perfect couple that everyone seemed to think they were? could he really try to fall for her? he would and he would do whatever he could to try to feel like he was in control of something.

“ YOU’RE MY BEST FRIEND, ” his voice was soft as he finally looked at her, blue eyes shining and he knows he feels vulnerable and exposed as he looks at her. he couldn’t explain everything to her yet, chris had made sure of that, but if he could get himself to fall for her and then none of that would even matter. it could become a bitter rumour for chris to attempt to ruin shit with. he would TRY to be the boyfriend that gwen wanted, he had to remember that she wasn’t courtney and this would be very different than his previous relationship. tongue darts across his lips, holding his hand out to her as he takes a deep breath, “ i thought we agreed to just let things happen. no plans, no expectations, just you and i takin’ it one step at a time, ” he admitted, teeth pulling at his bottom lip because he wasn’t used to have a deep conversation that wasn’t started with yelling or accusations. it was just a simple question, that didn’t have a simple answer. add gwen to the long list of people that he would end up DISAPPOINTING at some point, “ what do you want from me, g? i care about you, i am curious and EXCITED about what’s happenin’ here, i just don’t know what to think of all of this. it kinda happened . . . pretty fast, ”
