Beauty and the Beast Beauty and the Beast (Original Release November 13, 1991; Platinum Edition DVD October 8, 2002), Audio Commentary with Don Han (Producer), Kirk Wise (Director), Gary Trousdale (Director), and Alan Menken (Composer)
Time Period: mid 18th century
Location: France
Beauty and the Beast was originally conceived as a Rococo period piece, and the final product still reflects this to an extent. (Though the instruments played at Gaston's wedding—including a tuba (bass tuba patented by Wilhelm Friedrich Wieprecht and Johann Gottfried Moritz in 1835, tenor tuba invented by Carl Wilhelm Moritz in 1838), a violin (16th century), a concertina (invented in England by Charles Wheatstone in 1829 and in Germany by Carl Friedrich Uhlig in 1834), and a French horn (valve mechanism patented by Heinrich Stölzel and Friedrich Blümel in 1816)—wouldn't have been accurate for the time period, besides the violin.)

zum Sterben und zu meiner Ruh.
Ach, wie vergnügt wär so mein Ende,
es drückten deine schönen Hände
mir die getreuen Augen zu!
