'Must Know' Golf Swing Knowledge
The quantity of golf knowledge an amateur should know is overwhelming. It seems that every time I look for topics to write about, I find more things I do not know about my golf swing. It is crazy to think that after 45+ years of playing golf I still feel like a ‘newbie’ with a club in my hands. I stumbled across a video that unpacks a great deal of information about rhythm, tempo, and speed. I…

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, but can u do one where Trevor and reader r playing tennis and reader wins, and Trevor give reader a ‘reward’?
Luv ur work btw!
Trevor and the Reader Playing Tennis Together:
(Summary: Trevor invites the reader on a date, taking her to one of Los Santos’ many tennis courts. In an effort to raise the stakes, Trevor suggests a bet- whoever wins the match gets a prize)
[the readers pronouns weren’t specified so I went with a fem!reader but if that’s not what you wanted feel free to reach out and I’ll edit or re-write!]

Outings with Trevor were always a whirlwind. He kept you on your toes even on a simple trip to the grocery store. So when you find yourself out late at night, on the tennis court, with Trevor dressed in those little athletic shorts that leave very little to the imagination, you’re not exactly surprised. He’d always been into things like hockey and golf, but seeing him bouncing on his toes across from you, holding his tennis racket as if it’s a weapon, was honestly a bit comical.
With a mischievous grin on his cracked, scarred lips, Trevor beckons you to join him for a match. And despite your vague reservations, knowing how competitive he can get, you agree- holding your own racket tightly as you prepare.
“What’s with the face, sugar? Ya afraid Uncle T is gonna beat ya?” Trevor taunts, appearing incredibly confident for a man who looks like he’s never played tennis in his life.
“Don’t get cocky, Trev! I may just surprise you.” you fire back, unwilling to let him under your skin before the match has even begun.
“Ooh! I like it when you’re feisty, angel. Ok! Let’s make things interesting, huh? How bout a wager? Winner gets to pick whatever prize they want.”
You consider momentarily. You’re no tennis pro, that’s for sure. But you feel confident enough that you can hold your own. But then again, you know Trevor well enough to be sure that if you lose there’s literally no limit of insanity to what he could request from you. You weigh the pros and cons, finally deciding that the look on his face if you managed to beat him would be well worth the risk.
“Ya know what? Bring it on, T!” you agree- confident grin on your lips as you spin your racket in a smug display.
The game begins quickly, and much to your dismay, Trevor displays an uncanny knack for tennis. His manic demeanor seems to transform into pure energy as he focuses on the game, delivering violent serves and aggressive spins. You find yourself struggling to keep up, but the thought of losing to him quickly turns your surprise into heated determination.
With each volley, you find yourselves laughing, shouting at each other, and exchanging playful, yet heated, taunts. And as the sets go on, you begin finding your rhythm after a clumsy beginning, putting up a determined fight against Trevor's unconventional yet shockingly effective playing. He’s still doing incredibly well, but you’re keeping up. And you’ll be damned if you lose to him. The thought of his victory request is far from your mind now as your only fear is having to face his smug, taunting grin if he wins.
You swing your racket hard, and Trevor lunges, his quick attempt to return the shot falling just short as the ball hits the ground, and your victory is solidified with your triumphant cheers and maybe a bit of heckling that you’re not exactly proud of.
“God! Fuck! Fuck! Come on!” Trevor growls, tossing his racket into the ground as he stomps like a raging toddler- he’d never handled losing well. But, just like his moods usually do, his anger quickly changes as he gives you a smarmy grin and waltzes across the court to pull you into a handsy embrace.
He’s damp with musky sweat, and you can still feel his heart pounding beneath his ribs from where his chest is pressed flush with yours. His full, chapped lips are parted in heavy gasps, his thinning hair is stuck to his head in a slick sheen of sweat, and there’s just something about his body heaving from exertion that’s pulling in all of your attention.
“Well, sugar-.. Fair is fuckin’ fair, I guess. So, go on. Do your worst! Whaddaya want?” Trevor pries, dropping a bit of his weight into your arms and looking at you with those chocolate brown puppy dog eyes full of mischief. He’s always been able to sense your want, and you damn him for that, because before your request even leaves your lips he’s already sporting a lecherous grin on his taunting face.
“Wipe that smile off your lips, Trev. You lost. So now you’re gonna be a good boy and put that dirty mouth to good use. I’m tired of hearing you talk.” you huff out- anxious and a bit unfamiliar with taking the dominant role. But the low growl he lets out and the way his filthy, calloused hands slide down your body and under your little tennis skirt is enough to let you know he’s going to enjoy this just as much, if not more, than you do.
His rough touch drags up your thigh, his split nails scratching up the delicate flesh until his fingers press against the thin fabric of your underwear. They prod and rub roughly without much finesse but with enough eager energy to more than compensate for his lack of tenderness. You choke on a breathy gasp, fingers flying up to grip at his shoulder and tug him closer- your forehead dropping to his chest where you hear his ragged breath and low moans.
“Yeah? You like that, sugar?” Trevor chuckles, the low rasp of his voice sending sparks straight between your thighs.
A soft whimper ghosts past your lips, head tilting up to gaze at him with desperate eyes, “Trevor.. Wait.. Someone could see..”
“It’s late. Nobody is gonna be out here. Unless…ya want me to stop? The prize is time sensitive though, darlin’. So, I’d think quick.” Trevor challenges, his fingers working fast, firm circles against you in a taunting rhythm.
It’s hard to think, let alone argue, when he touches you like this. And he knows he’s won before you’ve even had a chance to speak up, “N-no.. Trevor.. I-.. Don’t stop..” you find yourself whining. And the awful, twisted smile splitting his lips shows his enjoyment clearly on his face.
“That’s what I thought. Now be good, and let old Trevor take care of ya. Huh, angel face?” he goads, fingers slipping beneath the fabric of your underwear to press against your needy clit.
Your legs nearly buckle beneath you, a hand digging tightly into Trevor’s bicep while the other tangles fingers in the thicker hair at the back of his head. The high, whimpery moan that escapes your lips has him grinning. And as he works his gnarled fingers up your slit, collecting the wetness that he’s caused there, he lets out a groan nearly as desperate as yours, “Oooh fuck, baby.. You’re fuckin’ dripping.. If I had known how bad you fuckin’ wanted it, we’d have stayed the fuck home tonight.”
Your hips grind fitfully against his hand, craving the friction those vile fingers of his provide. He easily senses your desperation, leaning down to nip and suck at your throat while his slick tongue traces against the grooves he’s bitten into your neck like a twisted apology to soothe the sting. Your needy reactions have him working harder, paying pointed attention to your damp clit, and focusing on each flex of his fingers that makes you cry out the loudest.
“Trevor.. Trevor! Please.. I’m so close! Please, more?” you plead, looking up at him with teary eyes as you waver right on the cusp of blissful completion. Thankfully he’s always been just as needy as you. And tonight he has no intentions of teasing you by denying what you both need.
“Turn around.” Trevor orders, not giving you the chance to move on your own as he spins you roughly around, forcing you to grip the chain link fence bordering the tennis court to keep your balance. He presses into you from behind, grinding himself against you while the fabric of those little shorts do next to nothing to restrain his hard cock prodding at your ass beneath your skirt, “You feel how fuckin’ bad I want ya, sugar? Fuck! You drive me fuckin’ crazy.”
He’s always so needy for you and it never fails to make you feral. You press back against him, grinding your ass into his growing bulge until he quickly becomes tired of the teasing foreplay, ripping your panties down your thighs and pinning you so far forward your face nearly presses into the chain link, “Fuckin’ teasing me all night with that little skirt, running your mouth, tellin’ me what to do.. Fuuuck! You know I love it. Let Uncle T give ya your reward now, sugar.”
“Please.. Please.. Trevor, please.” you gasp out like a prayer, gazing over your shoulder with fingers trembling where they grip like a lifeline to the chain link.
His movements are frantic and aggressive while he tugs his little shorts just low enough for his cock to spring free. He’s so hard it almost looks painful for him with his tip flushed violent red and steadily leaking pre-cum. He spits thickly into his palm, stroking himself a few, rough times- not that he needs the extra lubrication, as you feel your own arousal close to dripping down your inner thighs. Trevor’s rugged, scarred hand grips your hip while the other remains on his cock, lining himself up with your soaked, nearly aching cunt before he presses a kiss to the back of your neck in a bastardized version of gentle intimacy, “That's it, baby.. Lemme show ya just how good you did tonight..”
He presses forward in one harsh snap of his hips, hitting you deep inside in that one spot he’s memorized you loving. You practically sob for him, clinging to the fence and struggling to rock your hips in time with his frantic, disarranged rhythm. His hand rears back suddenly, delivering a firm slap to the smooth, delicate skin of your ass and pulling a shocked, euphoric cry from your lips. You’re trembling and he has no intentions of slowing his manic, disorienting pace. And when his harsh, careless fingers assault your clit you feel yourself nearing your end.
“Trevor! Oh fuck, Trevor! Don’t stop! Please! I- I’m so close! Fuck! Fuck!” you babble out, unable to restrain your loud tone as you’ve long since shed your fear of being caught in public like this- the pleasure clouding your mind as your previous reservations melt away.
“Oh fuck yes! You’re so fuckin’ perfect! Oh god! That’s it, sugar! Take it!” Trevor growls, hips driving mercilessly into you and fingers working you over so well he has you on the verge of tears. You feel him twitching inside you, his moans growing louder and desperate as you both feel yourselves nearing your end.
Your chin drops to your chest, your head hanging limp in pleasure with your legs trembling so terribly it’s close to impossible to stand, “Trevor! I’m- I’m gonna cum! Don’t stop! Please! Please! Ooh god, Trev! You feel so fucking good!” you plead- the praise only spurring him on with his hips snapping against you so viciously it’s sure to leave you bruised.
“Fuck! Fuck! Fuckin’ fuck! I love you, I love you-“ Trevor rambles, a telltale sign he’s close to his own end. And when his grip tightens almost painfully against your hip, and his fingers pace against your clit becomes stiff and rhythmless you both reach your peak with sharp and sudden explosions of euphoria, “AUGH! FUCK! I LOVE YOU! FUCK!” he shouts, his release ruining your insides as you cum around him- your slick, combined fluids trailing down your thighs as his pace begins to slow.
“Trevor… Oh my god.. Fuck.. You’re..fucking amazing..” you gasp with legs trembling and heart pounding in your chest.
He pulls out with a weak, pathetic whimper, wrapping his arms around you and pressing sloppy, wet kisses to your sweaty throat, “Goddamn, sugar.. That was fuckin’-.. Wow. Competition really does bring out the best in ya, don’t it?” he teases while readjusting himself and pulling up his shorts.
You bite back a groan at the dampness between your sore thighs, pulling up your panties and straightening your skirt while fighting back a grimace as his cooling cum soaks the fabric, “Ya know what, T?” you giggle softly, pulling him into a teasing embrace with arms looped around his neck, “Maybe we should wager like this more often. I think I kinda like the rewards you give.”
A smirk twists his scarred lips as he leans down and pulls you into a wet, despicable kiss that promises that this night is far from over, “Sugar, I like the way you think.”

could you do 15 and 16 with jack hughes??
Thank you so much for the request! I hope you like it!
15. Not being able to stop smiling while kissing
16. Taking silly pictures in a Photo Booth
Jack and I have been best friends for years. Deep down I’ve always loved him, it’s hard not to love him. Recently it’s been challenging to hide my feelings from him. He’s been extra flirty and over the top with me. I’m trying to resist because I don’t want to lose him.
He’s home for the summer and besides his golf trips with Quinn and Trevor we’ve been hanging out the whole time. We decided to go to the Zap Zone by his house for old times sake. We always used to go to play glow golf and laser tag.
I knock on the Hughes door even though they’ve expressed that I don’t need to. It feels weird if I don’t, what if I saw Luke in his underwear or something. I could be permanently scarred. “Coming!” I hear someone yell behind the door.
The door swings open and Trevor is standing in front of me. “Hey Y/n/n,” He pulls me in for a quick hug. “Jack is almost done getting all dolled up for your date.”
I shake my head at him, “It’s not a date and you know it Zegras.”
He gasps with fake shock, “Not a date? If Jack isn’t treating you right I’m always here to show you a good time.” He wiggles his eyebrows at me.
“Shut up Z.” I say unable to hold back my laugh. If nothing else Trevor has always been funny.
Finally Jack runs downstairs, he’s wearing a basic pair of black jeans and a crew neck but he looks unreal. “You ready Y/n/n?” He asks and I nod, “Let’s get out of here then.”
He takes my hand and walks me to the car. Opening my door for me so that I can get in. As we sit in the car and talk I feel myself falling into our rhythm. We are friends who flirt and hold hands sometimes. It’s weird but I don’t care as long as I have him.
We play glow golf. He insists on showing me how to putt because I “don’t know how to do it”. When I try to remind him that we used to play glow golf together all the time he just smirks and tells me that I’m rusty. When he stands behind me with his chest pressed against my back and his hands covering mine my heart goes crazy. I’m breathless as he steps away from me.
The rest of glow golf goes smoothly. I convince myself that he was just trying to throw me off my game. That has to be the reason he held me like that.
After glow golf we decide to play arcade games. I spot the Photo Booth and grab Jack’s hand. “Can we please get pictures?” I ask gesturing toward the booth. He nods and we squeeze in the small space.
Our first picture we smile regularly, then I stick my tough out and put a piece sign behind Jacks head for the second. He smiles and pulls me on to his lap messing up my hair for the third picture. Then our eyes meet and he pulls me in placing his lips on mine. I don’t even notice that the final picture has already happened. I’m completely addicted to him and this feeling.
I pull away keeping my forehead against his. “Why did you do that?” I whisper.
“Because I like you.” He responds, “For a long time I’ve liked you.”
I smile, “I have too.” I pause and place my hands on both sides of his face. “I can’t believe you just did that.” I let out a shocked chuckle.
“Can I do it again?” He reply’s simply and I nod immediately. He brings his mouth to mine once again and I can’t help but smile as we kiss. I can feel him smiling too. Nothing is better then this.

The billionaire creator of Rockstar Energy Drink’s home is for sale in Park City, UT for $50M. (It was only built in 2022 and it’s for sale, already.) It features a wellness intelligence network that “regulates circadian rhythm lighting, monitors & calibrates indoor air quality, filters pollutants & removes pathogens from the air” 6 bd, 11 ba. 17,567 sq ft. 4.97 acres. $22,650/Annual HOA. (I was just about to say that I’m not fond of that snowy, isolated location, and then I see that it has an HOA out there in the wilderness?) Apparently, this is a gated community.

Here we have what looks like a built-in curvy sofa that looks like it’s covered in carpeting. Modern fireplace and an interesting overhead light. The real estate description calls it timeless, but it already looks dated in here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the dining room is another large built-in carpet banquette around a fire pit. I don’t know if the surfaces are marble, quartz, or a manmade quartz. It looks a little tight for space at the table.

Look at the features in the kitchen. I’ve never seen a stove like that big blue one. It doubles as an island, and look at the size of the exhaust hood.

Here’s a game room with a bar. I wonder if the house comes furnished.

The lap pool has a sort of garage door, so you can open it in the warmer mos. This is an indoor/outdoor stainless steel pool.

Just thinking about how loki will lose to his brother at golf or whatever sport they're playing and will take it out on me in the broom closet that would be lovely to be honest
Ya know, maybe a bitch is fucked in the head. I wrote a story about Applebees, so why not a match of squash?
Sore Loser
Warnings: nothing egregious, just Loki being a jealous man.
This is just for fun but always love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading and any feedback you have!
Tumblr media
The brothers are far from amiable on their best days. The only true passion you’ve ever seen them show for each other is that of competition. The endless battle to one up the other, to shove the other’s nose in their achievements with an extra bit of spite.
You sense the resent roiling of the court as you watch through the windows. The steady thwack of the rubber ball as it bounces off the wall, the low grunts of the competitors forming a hammering rhythm.
As Thor goes high, Loki goes low, and you sip from the long neck of your insulate bottle, dreading the outcome. Whoever wins, you lose.
You’re almost tempted to go back to the courts above and swing a racquet with the old divorcees and griping wives of the older members. They talk more than they serve but it would give you an excuse. No, that wouldn’t do, he’s seen you and his brief acknowledgement draws the attention of his brother.
Loki winks at you and readies his serve. Thor’s eyes linger before slowly trailing to his brother. The former may be known as the trickster but the latter is hardly better. You’ve learned that thoroughly.
You kick a foot out and stick out a hip, crossing your arms as the sweat dries along the nape of your neck.
The loud collision of the ball against the wall jolts you but the serve isn’t returned and instead the rubber smacks the reinforced window. You step back and swallow as Loki drops his shoulders and turns to his brother. He gives a half shrug.
“What are you doing? Forfeiting is as good as a loss, brother,” he taunts.
“Your toe was on the line,” Thor says flatly and you step closer to hear through the clear barrier.
“It was not,” Loki scoffs, “you are ridiculous because you know it was a good serve.”
“Your toe touched,” Thor insists and points to his brother’s foot with his racket, “go again or I can take the point.”
Loki sighs as his nostrils flair. His lips thin, a familiar look, often aimed at his brother, dreaded when inspired by yourself. You chew your lip.
“Darling,” Loki breaks your shield as audience and pulls you into the action, “tell me, did I overstep the line?”
You blink and bite your cheek. Why hadn’t you been watching?
“S-sorry, I wasn’t paying attention,” you say with a guilty smile, “I’m sure you didn’t–”
“Don’t try to have her bolster your lies,” Thor sniffs, “serve again, brother, or are you afraid I will trounce you.”
Loki huffs and rolls his eyes. He marches to retrieve the ball and as he stands straight, arches a brow at you. You should’ve lied.
“Fine,” he turns and sets his feet as Thor does the same.
Loki serves, the ball hits perfectly between the tin and the lower line. Thor returns it with equal zeal as the brothers move around each other. An elbow meets ribs but the ball stays in play, then the stomp of a toe, the jostling as both break the rules formerly disputed. Obstruction is the first sin of squash.
The dark-haired Odinson stretches to keep the ball aloft, bouncing it back with the tip of his racquet, but his perilous stance is toppled by a nudge from his opponent. Loki hits the floor hard as Thor slams the ball into the wall and it flies back without a response, rolling around the floor as silence rises thick in the air.
Loki says nothing of the underhanded move. Instead, he stands and grabs the ball as it nears his toe. He hands it over to his brother without a word and waits for him to serve. Thor cracks his neck with the tilt of his head and signals to switch sides before he gets into position.
“Match point,” Thor declares before he serves.
The returning volley is harsh and unrestrained from Loki. Their shoes squeak in a rally as they meet each other in stride. Back and forth, elbow, shoves, and stomps. You hate them and their stupid grudges.
You cringe as you watch Loki stumble over Thor’s foot and send the rubber ball above the tin. Out of bounds.
“That’s my game,” Thor announces and gives a hearty laugh, “bested again, brother.”
“As I recall, I won the last,” Loki challenges.
“So you say but I can’t remember,” Thor chides, “good game.”
Thor holds out his hand and waits. It’s shaken stiffly with a snarl recitation of the sentiment. You blow out between your lips and force a smile.
Thor marches out and gives you a smirk. You shake your head at him as you near the door to the court, “did you have to do that?”
“Have fun,” he snickers, eyes falling down your tennis dress. You put your hands on your hips and ignore the leer.
Loki takes his time before he emerges. You don’t know what to say, knowing whatever you come up with will likely piss him off. He returns his racquet and the ball and you cross to him. You place your hand on his arm, “I was thinking we could do dinner in the grotto. I reserved a private table–”
“You couldn’t have said I was in bounds, eh?” He turns on you, “always the sweet little one, hm? Always honest, or so you pretend.”
You swallow. You know not to argue. Not when he’s like this. Your husband can be as cruel to you as he is to his own brother. Thor has a way of getting under his skin and somehow that always spills over into your marriage.
“I’m sorry, I had a long match and I’m tired so… I wasn’t thinking,” you squeeze his arm, “please, don’t be mad. It’s a nice day–”
“Nice,” he hisses as he shrugs you off, instead grabbing your arm and wrenches your wrist up, “I don’t feel like being nice.”
He walks you backwards until you’re against the wall. You gulp as his other hand tickles the line of your throat. He shoves your hand down to his shorts and you tremble.
“Loki, someone could–”
“Court is booked until I sign off,” he snarls, “and I’ve not finished yet.”
You hold his gaze, green irises boring down into you. Your cheek twitches.
“Not here, why don’t we go find–”
“It’s him, isn’t it?” He sneers and squeezes your hand around his crotch, letting your wrist fall as he frames your neck with his fingers.
“Loki,” you wince, “that… that was a misunderstanding–”
“I see the way he looks at you. Is he misunderstanding or have you not made it clear?”
“I have been clear with him, Loki, I swear. I’m your wife.”
“Then prove it,” he leads your hand up and slides it beneath his waistband, “be a good wife and I will be a good husband.”

Once upon a time, in a small town nestled beside a picturesque golf course, there lived a young girl named Amina. Amina was known throughout the town for her talent on the golf course. She had a natural swing, a fierce determination, and an unwavering love for the sport. However, as Amina grew older, she faced a dilemma that tugged at her heart.
Amina came from a traditional family that valued their faith above all else. She had always been a devout Muslim, and as she reached her teenage years, she felt a growing desire to wear the hijab, a symbol of her faith. But she couldn't ignore the fear that it might interfere with her beloved golf game. Amina worried that the hijab might restrict her movements, impair her swing, and make her less competitive on the course.
One sunny morning, as she gazed out at the golf course from her bedroom window, Amina made a decision. She decided it was time to embrace her faith fully, including wearing the hijab. She realized that her love for golf and her love for Allah did not have to be in conflict. Instead, they could coexist in harmony, just as she had in her heart.
Amina donned her hijab and stepped onto the golf course, feeling a mixture of excitement and trepidation. Her fellow golfers, who had known her for years, were surprised by her new attire. Some whispered among themselves, while others greeted her with curiosity and respect. Amina's swing, initially hesitant, soon found its rhythm. She learned to adjust her movements, ensuring her hijab did not interfere with her game.
As the months passed, Amina continued to excel on the golf course, and her commitment to her faith only grew stronger. She became an inspiration to many, especially to young girls who admired her for both her golfing prowess and her unwavering devotion to her beliefs. Amina showed them that they could be true to themselves, their faith, and their passions.
One day, Amina received an invitation to participate in a prestigious golf tournament. She accepted with pride, knowing that this was not just a chance to prove her golfing skills but also to showcase her identity as a golfer who proudly wore her hijab.
The day of the tournament arrived, and Amina stepped onto the course with her head held high, her hijab elegantly adorned. She played her best game, hitting long drives, sinking precise putts, and demonstrating the true spirit of sportsmanship. In the end, she not only made her family proud but also emerged as the champion of the tournament.
Amina's journey as a golfer who decided to wear the hijab taught her and those around her that faith and passion could coexist, that one's identity should never be a hindrance to their dreams. She became a role model, not only for her golfing skills but also for the strength of her character and her unwavering commitment to her beliefs.

Rewind: Huffamoose - Huffamoose (1993)
If there was any justice in the music universe, Huffamoose’s 1993 self-titled debut would’ve been picked up by a major and become, if not a huge hit, a beloved cult favorite.
Instead, it just languished.
Released on 7 Records in 1993 and not made available for streaming until sometime during the pandemic, Huffamoose is nevertheless as revelatory - and relevant - in 2023 as it was 30 years ago.
It was hard to find even then, and Sound Bites bought every copy he ever saw - four in all - to allay fears his CD would fail or it’d get left behind at a party. And the blog took Huffamoose everywhere, turning on everyone he knew to the sounds of one of the ’90s’ greatest, unique, releases. Even Huffamoose didn’t sound like Huffamoose when the band’s major-label debut, We’ve Been Had Again, arrived in ’97 with inferior remakes of “James” and “I Wanna Buy You a Ring.”
Sound Bites can still remember the moment he first heard Kevin Hanson’s guitar and the thwack of Erik Johnson’s drums as the opening track “Everybody Else” first crossed his ears.*
Nobody takes me for granted/nobody gets one over on me/I’m a new man and my new problem/is everybody else, songwriter Craig Elkins sings in a laconic manner sweetened by Hanson’s harmonies.
So it goes for nearly an hour as Elkins spills his cynicism and sorrow over Hanson’s jazzy runs and the taut rhythm section of Johnson and bassist Jim Stager, whose work continues to reveal itself as a jazz-rock master class hundreds of listens down the line.
I need to stop the cycle now before it’s too late and my children catch it, too/I need to let her go and move on with my life/but I can’t/forget/her face/in the mirror, Elkins sings on “Mary,” one of a handful of heartbreakers set among more playful fare like the stream-of-consciousness dream that is “Song about Nothing” and the celebratory swing of “I Can’t Turn Around.”
Throughout it all, the band cooks as Elkins’ acoustic guitar provides intros and rhythmic padding for his bandmates’ more-aggressive playing.
It ends - save for a reprise-laden hidden track - with the elegiac majesty of “Sacred Ground,” a latently powerful song suitable for funerals and weddings (seems incongruous, I know) that finds Elkins singing:
This is what we are all here for/we are all here for/we are standing on sacred ground/there is nothing greater/there is nothing more/than this/is what/we/are/all/here/for
Its a mystical ending to a magical album that somehow, and unjustly, cast its spell on only a relative few. It’s not too late to change that - and with streaming, it’s now possible and highly recommended.
*Sound Bites was honored to tell Hanson this very thing when he and Mrs. Sound Bites traveled to Philadelphia in 2018 for the album release party for … and that’s when the golf ball hit me in the head, which immediately became - and remains - the blog’s second-favorite Huffamoose LP.
Grade card: Huffamoose - Huffamoose - A

Maddy’s VR Game Recs #6: Walkabout Mini Golf VR
Tumblr media
It's minigolf! You walk through an 18-hole course, take your shots along the way, and view a scorecard at the end. The physics are tight, and the base gameplay is implemented in a way that's great for modern VR setups; controls (while imperfect, I don't like how the smooth movement stops you when you hit a wall) are even mapped to a single controller so you can hold it with both hands like you would a golf club when you take your swing.
It bears mentioning that while the courses are fun to go through once, it's also an inherently repeatable activity. Videogame minigolf's like a good rhythm game, in that even if you've experienced a stage before it's still worthwhile to try for a new score or use as something to occupy your hands during conversation with friends. Me, my partner, and a mutual friend have been spending most of our Sunday nights over the last few months doing at least one course together per night in a private room, all while hanging out in voicechat. It's been a bonding experience; we hone our skills, celebrate our victories, and grouse at our failures together.
The course designers don't seem to be resting on their laurels either, consistently putting novel challenges alongside scenery that's as gorgeous as you can expect from a modern low-poly art style; each course also comes with a Hard Mode version, setting punishing challenges against a shaken-up aesthetic (often the same course set at night). Of special note are the DLC courses, which tease a future for VR minigolf similar to pinball, where the mechanics of a base game are tweaked to fit a specific setting or licensed property. I only mention it because what's currently here is exceptional (this was written just after the release of the Myst course, which I recommend).
Also, don't worry about the scavenger hunts if they're too much of a pain to complete. They're not worth getting frustrated over, and Youtube walkthroughs can be your friend.

Every golfer knows that the toughest test of golf is the game you play after a great game...... my first follow through swing looked OK... but after that I succumbed to that test at Carnoustie today (aptly known as Carnastie)....and bombed with a score of 22. It wasn't the course to not swing well.... with bunkers everywhere to punish you. Though 22 certainly isn't great, when the best amongst our 8 was 31.... one feels a wee bit better. One plus for Carnoustie is their driving range for warming up.... it's an indoor computer tracking set up... maybe that upset my rhythm as I don't normally warm up on the range. A great experience to play here... and realise the challenge that the professionals face.

The Triad of Wellness: Unveiling the Interplay Between Fitness, Golf, and Dance for a Balanced Lifestyle
In the realm of fitness, there is a vast landscape of activities, each offering benefits and challenges. However, among the myriad options, a trio stands out for its ability to create a harmonious synergy, promoting holistic well-being like no other. This triad comprises traditional fitness routines, the elegant sport of golf, and the expressive art of dance. In this exploration, we delve into these elements' interconnectedness, uncovering their profound impact on our physical health, mental clarity, and emotional fulfillment.
Unveiling Traditional Fitness
At the core of any wellness regimen lies traditional fitness practices, encompassing a spectrum of activities such as strength training, cardio workouts, and flexibility exercises. These foundational pillars of fitness offer many benefits, including increased muscle mass, improved cardiovascular health, and enhanced mobility. Beyond the physical realm, regular exercise releases endorphins, neurotransmitters that elevate mood and reduce stress, fostering a sense of vitality and well-being.
The Artistry of Golf
Contrary to its leisurely reputation, golf is a sport that demands both physical prowess and mental acuity. The rhythmic motion of swinging a club engages muscles throughout the body, particularly in the core, arms, and legs, improving strength, flexibility, and coordination. Walking the expanse of the course provides a low-impact cardiovascular workout, promoting endurance and calorie expenditure. Moreover, golf is a game of strategy and focus, requiring mindfulness, concentration, and adaptability in facing challenges.
Expressive Freedom in Dance
Dance transcends the boundaries of conventional exercise, offering a medium for creative expression, emotional release, and physical exertion. From ballet's graceful movements to hip-hop's pulsating rhythms, dance encompasses a diverse array of styles and forms. Dancing engages the entire body, improving flexibility, coordination, and balance. It also serves as a dynamic cardiovascular workout, burning calories and boosting heart health. Additionally, dance stimulates the release of endorphins, promoting feelings of joy, liberation, and connection.
Interweaving the Triad
When integrated into a cohesive fitness routine, the triad of traditional exercise, golf, and dance creates a powerful synergy that addresses the holistic needs of the individual. Begin your day with an invigorating workout session, focusing on strength training and cardio to awaken your body and elevate your mood. Later, immerse yourself in the tranquility of the golf course, engaging your muscles and sharpening your focus amidst nature's splendor. Finally, unwind in the evening with a dance class, allowing yourself to move freely, expressively, and joyfully.
Nurturing Body, Mind, and Spirit
The beauty of the triad lies in its ability to nurture the physical body, mind, and spirit. Traditional exercise releases endorphins that promote mental clarity, emotional resilience, and overall well-being. Golf offers a meditative escape from the stresses of everyday life, fostering mindfulness, relaxation, and a deeper connection with nature. Dance serves as a form of self-expression and emotional release, allowing individuals to connect profoundly with themselves and others.
Embracing Diversity and Adaptability
One of the greatest strengths of the triad is its versatility and adaptability to individual needs and preferences. Whether you prefer high-intensity workouts, leisurely rounds of golf, or expressive dance sessions, there is room for customization and exploration. The key is to listen to your body, honor its needs, and find activities that bring you joy, fulfillment, and vitality. By embracing diversity and variety in your fitness routine, you can create a sustainable practice that supports your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
The triad of traditional exercise, golf, and dance offers a timeless approach to holistic wellness in a world filled with endless fitness options and trends. By integrating these elements into a cohesive fitness regimen, individuals can unlock the full potential of their physical health, mental clarity, and emotional fulfillment. So, lace up your sneakers, grab your golf clubs, and hit the dance floor. Embrace the interplay of movement, rhythm, and expression, and embark on a journey towards a healthier, happier, and more vibrant life.

Looping The Club For Consistent Contact
The more I read about my golf swing, the more I realize how much I still need to understand. Recently, I stumbled across the concept of looping the club in practice in order to maintain a strong swing plane on the golf course. The concept, at least how it is described, is similar to other swing mechanics I studied. The loop movement is worth understanding and can help improve our contact with…

From Swing to Putt: Beginner's Guide to Essential Golf Techniques by Joseph Migliorini
Golf is a timeless sport that combines skill, strategy, and precision, making it both challenging and rewarding for beginners. Whether you're stepping onto the green for the first time or looking to refine your skills, mastering essential golf techniques is essential for success on the course. In this beginner's guide, we'll explore key techniques—from the swing to the putt—that will lay the foundation for your golf journey and help you enjoy the game to its fullest.
Mastering the Golf Swing
The golf swing is the cornerstone of the game, requiring coordination, balance, and timing to achieve optimal results. Begin by adopting a proper stance, with your feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent. Grip the club firmly but not too tightly, and align your body parallel to the target line. As you swing the club back, focus on maintaining a smooth and fluid motion, keeping your wrists straight and your arms extended.
Next, initiate the downswing by shifting your weight from your back foot to your front foot and rotating your hips and shoulders towards the target. Keep your eyes on the ball throughout the swing and strive for a clean contact with the clubface. Finally, follow through with a controlled motion, allowing the club to complete its arc and finish high over your shoulder. Practice your golf swing regularly as emphasized by golf enthusiasts like Joseph Migliorini, focusing on consistency and precision, to improve your technique and build confidence on the course.
Understanding Club Selection and Distance Control
Selecting the right club for each shot is crucial for achieving optimal distance and accuracy on the course. Familiarize yourself with the different types of clubs in your bag, including woods, irons, wedges, and putters, and learn their respective strengths and uses. Use shorter irons for shorter distances and longer clubs for longer distances, adjusting your club selection based on factors such as wind speed, elevation changes, and hazards on the course.
Moreover, mastering distance control is essential for achieving precision on the green. Practice hitting shots of varying distances with each club, focusing on controlling your swing speed and the length of your backswing. Develop a consistent rhythm and tempo that allows you to generate power without sacrificing accuracy. By honing your club selection and distance control skills as emphasized by golf enthusiasts like Joseph Migliorini, you'll be better equipped to navigate the course and tackle challenging shots with confidence.
Perfecting the Short Game: Chipping and Pitching
The short game—comprising chipping, pitching, and putting—is where many golfers score the majority of their shots, making it essential to master these techniques for success on the course. Chipping involves making short, low-trajectory shots from around the green, while pitching entails lofting the ball onto the green from a short distance away. Begin by selecting the appropriate club based on the distance and trajectory required for the shot, and adopt a narrow stance with the ball positioned slightly back in your stance.
Maintain a firm but relaxed grip on the club and focus on making crisp contact with the ball, allowing it to roll smoothly towards the target. Keep your wrists firm throughout the swing and minimize excess movement to ensure consistency and accuracy. Practice chipping and pitching from various lies and distances, developing a feel for the different clubs and trajectories needed for different situations. With patience and practice, you'll improve your short game skills and save valuable strokes on the course.
Mastering the Putting Stroke
Putting is often considered the most challenging aspect of golf, requiring precision, touch, and mental focus to sink the ball into the hole. Begin by adopting a comfortable stance with your feet shoulder-width apart and your eyes directly over the ball. Grip the putter with a light but secure grip, and position your hands slightly ahead of the clubhead to promote a smooth, pendulum-like motion.
Focus on making a smooth, controlled stroke, keeping your wrists firm and your arms relaxed throughout the putting motion. Use your shoulders to rock the putter back and through, maintaining a consistent tempo and rhythm. Keep your eyes on the ball and visualize the intended line and speed of the putt, trusting your instincts and committing to your stroke. Practice putting from various distances and slopes, refining your feel and touch around the green. With dedication and practice, you'll develop the confidence and skill to sink putts consistently and lower your scores on the course.
Joseph Migliorini
Developing Course Management Skills
Course management involves strategic decision-making and planning your shots to minimize risk and maximize scoring opportunities on the course. Begin by assessing the layout of each hole, taking note of hazards, bunkers, and the location of the pin. Consider factors such as wind direction, slope, and green speed when planning your approach shots and club selection.
Moreover, play to your strengths and minimize your weaknesses by choosing conservative targets and shot options that align with your skill level. Resist the temptation to always go for the longest shot, instead opting for the safest and most strategic play based on the circumstances. Develop a pre-shot routine that helps you focus and visualize the intended outcome of each shot, maintaining a positive mindset and confidence in your abilities. By honing your course management skills as emphasized by golf enthusiasts like Joseph Migliorini, you'll improve your decision-making on the course and ultimately lower your scores.
Cultivating Mental Toughness and Resilience
Golf is as much a mental game as it is a physical one, requiring focus, concentration, and mental toughness to succeed on the course. Cultivate a positive mindset and resilience in the face of challenges, embracing setbacks as opportunities for growth and learning. Develop strategies to manage stress and stay present on the course, such as deep breathing, visualization, and positive self-talk.
Moreover, learn to accept the inherent unpredictability of golf and maintain perspective, focusing on the enjoyment of the game rather than fixating on outcomes. Embrace the camaraderie and social aspects of golf, enjoying the opportunity to connect with others and appreciate the beauty of the natural surroundings. By cultivating mental toughness and resilience as emphasized by golf enthusiasts like Joseph Migliorini, you'll enhance your enjoyment of the game and perform at your best when it matters most.
Mastering essential golf techniques—from the swing to the putt—is essential for beginners looking to enjoy success on the course. By focusing on proper technique, club selection, distance control, short game skills, course management, and mental toughness as emphasized by golf enthusiasts like Joseph Migliorini, you'll build a solid foundation for your golf journey and improve your performance over time. Remember to practice regularly, stay patient and persistent, and most importantly, have fun on the course. With dedication and effort, you'll develop the skills and confidence to tackle any challenge that comes your way and enjoy the lifelong rewards of the game of golf.

Tumblr media
Understanding Your Grip and Stance
The foundation of a successful golf swing begins with your grip and stance. Ensure that your grip is firm but not too tight, allowing for a natural release of the club through impact. Position your feet shoulder-width apart and slightly open to the target, with your weight evenly distributed between both feet. A proper grip and stance provide stability and control, setting the stage for a powerful and accurate swing.
Swing Plane and Body Rotation
Maintaining the correct swing plane and initiating proper body rotation are crucial elements of a successful golf swing. Visualize an imaginary plane extending from the ball to the target and strive to keep your club on this plane throughout the swing. Additionally, focus on rotating your hips and shoulders smoothly back and through the swing, generating power and creating a fluid motion. Proper body rotation promotes consistency and accuracy, allowing you to strike the ball with precision at McLemore Golf Course.
Timing and Tempo
Finding the right timing and tempo is key to a smooth and effective golf swing. Avoid rushing your swing or decelerating through impact, as this can lead to inconsistent ball striking and errant shots. Instead, strive for a rhythmic and balanced swing, maintaining a consistent tempo from start to finish. Practice drills such as the "one-two-three" rhythm, where you count to three during your backswing, pause briefly at the top, and then smoothly transition into your downswing. Developing a consistent tempo will help you achieve optimal results on the challenging terrain of McLemore Golf Course.
Visualization and Focus
Visualization plays a vital role in mastering your golf swing and executing successful shots at McLemore Golf Course. Before each shot, take a moment to visualize your intended ball flight and target. Imagine the trajectory, shape, and landing spot of your shot, then focus your attention on executing the desired swing with precision and confidence. Clear your mind of distractions and maintain a laser-like focus on the task at hand. Visualization enhances your mental game, helping you stay composed and execute under pressure on the picturesque fairways of McLemore Golf Course.
Practice and Patience
Improving your golf swing takes time, dedication, and patience. Take advantage of the practice facilities at McLemore Golf Course to refine your technique and fine-tune your swing mechanics. Practice various drills and exercises designed to improve specific aspects of your swing, such as tempo, balance, and clubhead control. Additionally, seek guidance from qualified instructors or coaches who can provide personalized feedback and guidance to help you reach your full potential.
Conclusion: Elevating Your Game at McLemore Golf Course
Mastering your golf swing is a journey that demands commitment, perseverance, and an eagerness to expand your skills. By grasping the fundamentals, honing technique, and embracing growth, you can enhance your performance and triumph on demanding courses.
