Do you have any poetry recommendations? The poem poll made me realize that I like. ONLY know Iraqi poets. Like the only non-Iraqi poet I can name off the top of my head is Robert Frost

i'm literally hooked on poetry. even on days where i can't sit down to read a book, i try to consume at least one poem a day bc it keeps me sane. it actually does. i recommend signing up to one poem a day newsletters--those have been a game changer for me. as for recommendations, my favorite poems change every week, but current faves (whose authors i regularly go back to/are a good starting point) would be:

Saints as Dieties: Because of this, saints were considered to be spiritual guides and mentors, who would add their prayers in heaven to those offered by Christians still living in the material world. The effects of dancehall genre on adolescent sexual and violent behavior in Jamaica: A public health concern

Aim: To determine the extent to which dancehall music/genre impacts adolescent behavior.

Results: Of the 100 adolescent cases (50 male, 50 female), females (40%) were more likely to gravitate to sexually explicit lyrical content than their male counterparts (26%). Females (74%) were also more likely to act upon lyrical contents than males (46%). There was no significant difference where males (100%) and females (98%) subconsciously sings the dancehall lyrics even without hearing it; as well as inspire their dreams 64% and 62% respectively. However, more females (74%) than males (46%) acted on lyrical contents of the dancehall genre.

Dancehall Culture

Donna P. Hope defines dancehall culture as a "space for the cultural creation and dissemination of symbols and ideologies that reflect the lived realities of its adherents, particularly those from the inner cities of Jamaica."[41] Dancehall culture actively creates a space for its "affectors" (creators of dancehall culture) and its "affectees" (consumers of dancehall culture) to take control of their own representation, contest conventional relationships of power, and exercise some level of cultural, social and even political autonomy.

A total of 137 urine samples and 46 serum samples, corresponding to 154 self-confessed designer drugs consumers in Ibiza island, were analyzed for the presence of designer drugs: amphetamine and amphetamine derivatives (methamphetamine, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyethylamphetamine (MDEA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), p-methoxymethylamphetamine (PMMA), p-methoxyamphetamine (PMA), etc.), ketamine and γ-hydroxybutyric acid. Among this population, coming both from the forensic clinic and from the emergency room of a hospital, a total of 99 cases were found positive for some designer drug. This study shows the prevalence of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) among designer drug users, sole or in association with other drugs. Also, the mixture of MDMA with other designer drugs, ethanol and/or cocaine is shown to be more likely to produce toxic symptoms requiring clinical attendance in a hospital emergency room. These findings along with the consumption history, the concentrations of drugs and metabolites in urine and serum and the toxicological significance for the interpretation of some MDMA metabolites such as 4-hydroxy-3-methoxymethamphetamine (HMMA) are discussed in this study.

The island of Ibiza is a western Mediterranean destination known internationally for its nightlife. The aim of this paper is to make a proposal to classify the different types of premises in the Ibiza nightlife offer. This involves making a first definition that allows to delimit which businesses are parts of the sector. The methodology used is based on the case study and specifically, on the review of the promotional actions and activities carried out, completed with the visit to the premises. The classification has been made based on the offer marketed and not only on the legal forms used, as innovation goes ahead of the existing legal classifications. Although it is a particular application, due to the international importance of Ibiza, it is a good starting point to classify the nightlife offer of many other tourist destinations. The resulting typology divides the sector into two large groups: nightclubs and other premises. While nightclubs have musical parties as their main activity declared, the other premises have accommodation or catering as their main activity, with music being an element of differentiation. Nightclubs are divided into several subgroups, depending on their size and relevance. The other premises are subdivided into Beach Clubs, Hotel Clubs, Party Boats, Lounge Clubs, Disco Pubs, among others.

The impact of global nightlife in Ibiza: Youth tourism

The promotion of the island’s image through its parties with the release of record labels, elaborate shows (Bensa, 2002), and the transformation of buildings into large entertainment businesses (Rosa, 2002), made it possible to return to the already known name of Ibiza and to catapult it as a symbol of entertainment and partying (Allemand, 2010). This development was something that occurred not only at the national and international scale; rather, it was something that transformed the island into a global icon (Amirou, 2000). The process of reinterpreting the hippy alternative image in a contemporary global context (Jauréguiberry, 1994), came from local businessmen (from the island and from elsewhere). They were the actors who understood the authenticity of the island to convert it into a unique product that went beyond tourism. Given the party reputation of the island, the traditional sun and beach tourists began to stay away, which made it possible to attract visitors who were willing to spend large sums of money to experience the nightlife in Ibiza. There was a shift from tourism to the experience of shows and culture. In this manner, by the mid-2000s, Ibiza had become internationally renowned in the electronic music industry (its own record labels and invited DJs) and for its nightclubs (Goulding, 2011) (such as Space, Privilege, Amnesia, Café del Mar, Pacha, Ushuaia, and Esparadis); it also has become one of the most sought-after stages during the summer in show business (with parties organized by the Matinée group, La Troya, Supermarxé, and Circuit). Simultaneously, from the cultural perspective, the construction of the image of the island had a minimal physical impact and, on the contrary, made it possible to emphasize the natural Mediterranean environment of the island and the libertarian heritage of the reinterpreted hippy movement (Perrot, 1997). With its network of nightclubs (Sönmez, 2013), Ibiza began to generate an entertainment niche that attracted record labels and international DJs, which transformed Ibiza into not only one of the destinations in the global circuit but also a destination with international renown, almost exclusively during the summer period (Fontaine, 1996). The dissemination of the reputation of its parties crossed borders, attracting people from all over the world to Ibiza. Simultaneously, it became a world-renowned destination through the dissemination of its parties through video, the Ibiza-based record labels, and the lyrics to songs that include Ibiza as an icon and that have been emulated in other parts of the world, such as “Ibiza’s Party.” This highlights the island’s own style, which is defined by freewheeling parties and a relaxed environment that goes beyond labels or conventionalism. We find ourselves with the case of one of the few non-urban destinations that has managed to concentrate and attract nightlife (Fig. 5), even going so far as to displace some of the international record labels and entertainment events in the main cities.

Kraljic Matrix

Peter Kraljic studied metallurgy and obtained his master's degree. He holds a doctorate from the Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz-University Hannover and an MBA from INSEAD. He was director of the Düsseldorf branch of the consulting firm McKinsey & Company .

In supply chain management, the Kraljic matrix (or Kraljic model) is a method used to segment the purchases or suppliers of a company by dividing them into four classes, based on the complexity (or risk) of the supply market (such as monopoly situations, barriers to entry, technological innovation) and the importance of the purchases or suppliers (determined by the impact that they have on the profitability of the company). This subdivision allows the company to define the optimal purchasing strategies for each of the four types of purchases or suppliers.

The Kraljic matrix defines the following types of articles:

Non-critical items: components that have a low impact on the company and that are found in abundance and / or in low-risk markets (e.g., office stationery). For such items, the goal should be to maximize efficiency of the procurement process to reduce the administrative burden, for example by delegating purchasing to local managers, or using catalogs.

Leverage items: components that are important for the company but sourced from low-risk markets with an abundant supply. As the name suggests, the optimal management of these purchase categories is essential to ensure a satisfactory business result. For this type of component, the company tends to make the most of its bargaining power and the abundance of the offer with frequent negotiations.

Bottleneck items: components with a low business impact in economic terms but where supply continuity is at risk. The management of these components should be aimed at creating relationships of collaboration in the medium-long term between customer and supplier to guarantee the supply, with less emphasis on the cost.

Strategic items: components that are important for the company both in terms of economic impact and for supply conditions from complex and / or risky markets. In this field, the horizon is medium-long term with a continuous monitoring of the economic situation of the market, technical evolution, evaluation of "make-or-buy" options (the choice for a company between developing and manufacturing a product itself or outsourcing it from another supplier),[2] creation of alternatives and development of stable relationships and maximum collaboration with the suppliers.

In its original form, Kraljic's matrix is used for the mapping of purchases, not suppliers. However, the matrix works equally well to distinguish different categories of suppliers.

Under SAR Plans, the corporation grants plan participants share appreciation rights. Northanger Abbey Readthrough Ch 20

This line is so sweet:

Mr. and Mrs. Allen were sorry to lose their young friend, whose good humour and cheerfulness had made her a valuable companion, and in the promotion of whose enjoyment their own had been gently increased.

Catherine is fun to be around! She's nice, she's joyful, she's sweet! It's no wonder Henry Tilney wants to know her better! But also, the Allens derived joy from making Catherine happy! What a lovely friendship they have with her. This whole thing is beautiful.

Now we have a very awkward family breakfast, where the Tilney children are doing their best to make Catherine feel welcome, but General Tilney, in trying to do the same is achieving the opposite.

His anxiety for her comfort—his continual solicitations that she would eat, and his often-expressed fears of her seeing nothing to her taste—though never in her life before had she beheld half such variety on a breakfast-table—made it impossible for her to forget for a moment that she was a visitor.

Such a relatable sentiment!

And then in the most awkward moment ever, General Tilney reams out Frederick for being late for breakfast right in front of Catherine, but also makes it clear that it is Frederick's insult to Catherine that he is the most angry about. Honestly, I would have just died of embarrassment in Catherine's place.

Catherine's attributes Captain Tilney not defending himself or replying to his father's screed to him not being able to sleep properly because of guilt. Sorry Catherine, I'd bet it's just because replying would have made it worse. Again, General Tilney making his children silent, the only thing he says before they leave is, "How glad I shall be when you are all off.”

Again, we see that General Tilney has a troubling anger management problem, which is likely why his kids get to quiet around him. He has a very short fuse, Catherine hardly manages to keep him from throwing her writing desk onto the street (I wonder if any of Eleanor's things were thrown out) and he's terrible to staff, "with his discontent at whatever the inn afforded, and his angry impatience at the waiters" Poor Eleanor! Having to live full time with this horrible man.

Catherine grow every moment more in awe of him

Meaning drift. The word "awe" here is more of a synonym with "fear". We use "awe" today in a positive sense; it used to be more like "inspire with fear or dread". Those familiar with the Bible will known that fear/awe are often used to describe what people feel about God. Anyway, this is not a positive feeling, Catherine is becoming wary of General Tilney. This is important to point out because a lot of people laugh at Catherine's eventual conclusion that General Tilney murdered his wife, but if you were to only judge by this chapter, General Tilney really does not come off well. Short temper, terrible to staff, screams at his children for minor slights...

Anyway, things get better! Catherine switches from Eleanor to Henry and he tells her a gothic horror story off the top of his head which Catherine LOVES. Until he cannot continue because he's laughing too hard, "But Henry was too much amused by the interest he had raised to be able to carry it farther; he could no longer command solemnity either of subject or voice, and was obliged to entreat her to use her own fancy in the perusal of Matilda’s woes."

Also, if you weren't convinced yet that Henry is far superior to Thorpe:

Henry drove so well—so quietly—without making any disturbance, without parading to her, or swearing at them: so different from the only gentleman-coachman whom it was in her power to compare him with!

I did not get this the first time I read it, but a big part of the humour of this section of Northanger Abbey is that the Abbey looks really clean and modern inside, much to Catherine's disappointment.

The windows, to which she looked with peculiar dependence, from having heard the general talk of his preserving them in their Gothic form with reverential care, were yet less what her fancy had portrayed. To be sure, the pointed arch was preserved—the form of them was Gothic—they might be even casements—but every pane was so large, so clear, so light!

Like come on! Catherine was hoping for a dungeon and she got a mansion. And then General Tilney starts to ramble on about all the money that he's spent doing the exact opposite of what Catherine was hoping for. She's in this beautiful house but is not impressed at all.

Also, this is hilarious:

Then General Tilney announces that it's almost dinner time and Eleanor books it with Catherine to get changed.

The multilayered lie of Christmas

Above are two Public Notices that were produced in the Massachusetts area by the Puritains stating that the practicing of Christmas in any shape or form is banned and prohibited. The reason for this is why I called this post "a multilayered lie", and I will try to keep it short, and will by no means be able to hit all the layers.

The reason for this ban was because the early founders of this country didn't celebrate Christmas. They knew what it was, they knew that the Vatican had merged Jesus with the pagan festival of Saturnalia for deceptive reasons. So when catholics started coming to America "under authority" of the crown, they started bringing ALLLLLLLL the man made traditions and pagan practices of the catholic church. The VERY same ones that partially influenced the reformation, the wars, the mass murder of their brothers and sisters, and the very same religious persecution that they fled England from. They saw what the vatican was doing, so they put a ban on it. But the devil plays a patient game and he is still doing it today, and we are all watching it unfold with the lgbtq agenda. Same game.

But it wasn't just the early reformers and Puritans that spoke out against these pagan celebrations like Christmas. From the beginning some of this demonic merger, Christians were vocal against it. It is these Christians that started tearing Rome in two.

I've made multiple posts about actively participating in these things and opening up doors to demons. In the case of Christmas, I draw your attention to the term, "Stoicheion", which Paul calls "weak and beggerly elements". This isn't new, and Paul was warning the Galatians of this very thing. In Galatians 4:8, Paul brings up the subject of the idolatry and paganism that they had participated in before their conversion. "But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods." This obviously refers to the worship of pagan deities (Acts 14:8-18). He is making it clear that God had called them out of that way of life. Paul continues this thought in verse 9, where his obvious concern was that the Galatians were returning to the way of life from which God had called them. The "weak and beggarly elements" were demon-inspired, idolatrous practices, NOT something God had commanded. "Elements" here is the same word, stoicheion, translated "elements" in verse 3. An extension of stoicheion can refer to the heavenly bodies that regulate the calendar and are associated with pagan festivals. The apostle condemns the practices and way of life that had been inspired by Satan and his demons, the principal cause of all the world's evil. Paul recognized that the Galatians had begun to return to their former slavish, sinful practices.

It is evident that the "days, months, seasons and years" Paul refers to in verse 10 were the pagan, idolatrous festivals and observances that the Galatian Gentiles had observed before their conversion. They could not possibly be God's holy days because these Gentiles had never observed them before being called, nor would Paul ever call them "weak and beggarly." Rather, they were turning back to their old, heathen way of life that included keeping various superstitious holidays connected to the worship of pagan deities.

Far from doing away with God's holy days, these scriptures show that we should not be observing "days, months, seasons and years" that have their roots in paganism, such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, Halloween, and any other days that originated from the worship of pagan gods.

Now, by all means, use that same Bible tools website, search Saturnalia, and you will find all kinds of history, with references, to the pagan origins of Christmas, as well as the Vaticans own words in their writings that they knew the holiday was pagan, but the "made it about Jesus", to counteract the paganism. This....is another layer of lie because this is straight Spiritual Warfare. That is NOT how you fight in Spiritual Warfare. But they ran with that lie and have never repented from it. Then they forced the celebration of Christmas on the Christian community. They have hid the pagan roots, shamed those that speak like I am now, hidden history, allowed the non religious angle to be played that distracts further, made it kid friendly so parents have no choice but to keep playing the game, and layer upon layer of deceit and lies.

But back to the Stoicheion, those elements, the "demons", they get attached to all these christmas objects. Then when you bring them in your house, they come with it. Whether you believe it or not, whether you want it or not, whatever reason you celebrate christmas, it matters not.

You are playing THEIR game. Their game, their rules, you have zero choice in what happens next when you actively participate in this demonic holiday. But all the layers hide that.

God called his people to be set apart. If God wanted us to celebrate this, he would have told us to.

Once God has spoken, there is nothing and no one else who can stop it. It is impossible for any man, principality, or ruler to try and reverse what God has said over anyone's life. There is no such thing recorded in the Scriptures. Every time God spoke, it was final and there was nothing to change it. Whether people were happy with it or not, they could not rise to say anything against God that could stand. This is why, when we think of salvation and all of God's promises, we should jump for joy, because we know that God meant what He said and He has no intention of reversing it. When God spoke of salvation, He meant that it would be eternal and it would be irreversible. Any person who repents and calls upon the name of the LORD Jesus Christ and makes God his or her refuge is eternally saved. Whether the world likes it or not, there is nothing they can do to change it, because God Almighty has the final say.

Every book in the Holy Bible is written under the inspiration of God and His Holy Spirit. What was written has been written under the approval of God and cannot be reversed. When you read the Holy Bible and you become exposed to your freedom in Christ and your identity as a child of God, it should compel you to jump up in joy and rejoicing and to live boldly, because God said what He said and He meant what He said. The Word of God can serve as a mirror in our hearts, exposing our innermost thoughts and revealing to us the things in our lives that we need to discard in order to grow spiritually. Jesus Christ and His Holy Word and Spirit is able to counter every curse, every chain, and every form of bondage. It is alive not only in writing, but also in all spiritually reborn Christians, transforming our hearts and lives day in and day out. This is why the Christian life is a life of transformation. There is nothing and no one else who can make us grow spiritually except for God and His Holy Word and Spirit. This is why we are called new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:7), because He transforms us from being people of sin to being children of God, ever-righteous and ever-glorious in Him.

Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for rescuing us from our destructive ways, and setting our feet on His path. Thank Him for lighting and guiding our steps and tending to the road ahead of us. May He help us to seek Him daily as we make this journey, so that we may not stray from Him and wander into ruin and destruction. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for easing our burdens and granting us the rest found in His mercy and forgiveness. May He teach us to walk in His gentleness and grace. Thank Him for providing us the strength to serve Him and for carrying the weight that should have been ours, all in His gracious name. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for faithfully staying with us in all times and places. We have not always sought Him and His guidance, yet He has continuously shown us the way back to Him. May He guide everything that we say and do, and show us the way no matter where He may lead us.

Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for securing a place for all true Christian believers as followers of Christ and spiritually reborn children of God in His eternal Kingdom. Each day, the sun rises and its light and warmth, and the Holy Bible gives us a glimpse of the promised eternity to come. By surrendering our hearts and our lives to His will, we see all the blessings He has bestowed upon us. God our refuge and our salvation and our constant provider. We lift our voices to Him in praise for His steadfast love, mercy and understanding. May Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ open our minds and hearts more and more to perceive and embrace Him and His truths. May He help us to find time to pray and read and study the Holy Bible daily and to find power in prayer, praying according to His Holy Word and will. May He help us to come to Him in true repentance and with faith in Him and His grace and merciful nature. May He give us the grace, courage and strength we need to walk with Him and do His will daily. May He teach us to watch our words when we pray to Him and to speak reverently and rightly. May we continually ask God to transform our hearts and make us faithful and humble as we walk with Him daily. We must come to Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ with honest, humble and repentant hearts. We must seek Him and His will and choose to follow Him all the days of our lives. May He help transform our hearts, help us to seek and live for Him above all else and to grow spiritually and build our faith and relationship with Him with each passing day. May He forgive our sinful nature and help us always make Him and our relationship with Him top priority.

As true and born-again Christians, we choose to walk in His righteous path and lead a life that is pleasing to Him. We desire Him and His will above anything else. We desire to walk in accordance with the love and light He has shown to us through His Holy Word and Spirit. We long for a deeper relationship with Him and a deeper fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ as well. When we fall into temptation and sin, we must turn to Him for forgiveness, strength and guidance. When believers learn to walk in accordance with God's Holy Word and Spirit, they have deeper fellowship with both God and one another. And the sin that could threaten to destroy that fellowship, if confessed (1 John 1:9), is covered in the blood of Jesus Christ and no longer a barrier between us and God. May we ask Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ to forgive us for any sins we have sinned this day or in days past. May we be faithful to Him and His Holy Word always. May He help us to walk more consistently in the light and to not neglect long to confess and forsake any sins that hinder our walk with Him. May He lead us in the direction He wants us to go so that we may seek and serve Him faithfully. God is holy and almighty and deserving of all praise honor and glory. It is vital that we remain rooted in Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ through prayer and His Holy Word and Spirit and that we live and walk as a beacon of His light and love and share and spread the Gospel Truth daily, so that the lost souls in this world can come to know Him and be saved. The more we focus on Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ, growing spiritually by building our relationship with Him, leaning on Him and His Holy Word and Spirit, the better off we will be. There is no other God besides Him (Isaiah 45:5). We MUST humble ourselves before Him, turning our backs on false teachers, false gods and idols and our sinful ways. Leaning on Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ through prayer and His Holy Word and Spirit strengthens us and our knowledge and wisdom about God and His Gospel Truth, exposing these imposters. May God help us to seek and lean on Him daily to gain the strength, wisdom and spiritual discernment needed to expose Satan and his imposters who seek to destroy us and God's ultimate Truth. Everyday, we must remember to share Jesus Christ's Gospel Truth with the world and to thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for the grace that He poured out for us on the cross at Calvary. All of them!! So...let's start at the beginning...take a seat...get a drink and a snack...this will...you know what, get that drink and a snack and I'll break this down so you can go potty in between WIPS. Otherwise you'll be doing the potty dance and trying to read faster and you might skip something...and no one wants that. *grins happily* We'll start with The Imperium Chronicles (@theimperiumchronicles )

Okay - the original concept started as an RP a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago with some super cool and super good friends of mine. We used Cassandra Claire's Mortal Instruments book series as kind of inspiration, but there were parts of her mythos we thought were crap and her characters were too young and we HATED the whole chalice thing....so we kept a little and threw a WHOLE LOT out...and came up with the original crew - Abriella (who was an existing char of mine that I tweaked and was known as Brie then), Cruz, Dez, Talon, Talia, Raguel, Arioch, Char (she's dead and we're gonna leave her that way), and Deacon. Some people wrote more than one. None of the characters were actually based on characters from Claire's stories, we more based it one her setup and if you saw our stories then and some of the old stories I wrote for Brie, you'd recognize it. It's been almost 20 years now...she's evolved some.

NOW...the obvious inspiration for the current arc is kind of the Bible - 4 Horsemen and all. But again, there is a twist on it. Mainly because having done some Biblical study, I am aware that what we have today is at best the English translation from the Latin from the Greek from the Aramaic...or something along those lines....there may even be a few other translations thrown in there. In some cases there were multiple meanings for one English word. For instance when Jesus is walking on the water the more accurate translation is NOT "Fear not, it is I". It IS "Fear not, I AM." Why does this matter? Because God was know as The Great I AM. He was declaring his divinity within the statement but what seems like a minor translation issue is a HUGE one in context. Sooooo....I've used this to my story's advantage. In no way is my story related to reality or religion in any way, I'm just using something that is real in my fiction.

ALSO...Leandre, Andronicus, Orpheus, and Thenasus are completely and wholely based on the BBC Musketeers series, save the last season which IMO sucked balls. They are even based on the characters that share their FC. Leandre is my blorbo baby...Tom Burke *swoons*. ANYWAY...completely inspired by...blorbos were born watching the series while writing Abriella stories. Demanded they be born and allowed to participate. So, here we are.

Thinius...yep...he is alive and kicking because Imagine Dragons seems to write songs that just inspire the fuck out of the entire The Imperium Chronicles gang. And they demanded Dan Reynolds be a FC of a character as such. Don't ask where his personality come from other than when I saw them live in NOLA, it came to me watching that man literally bounce around for over 4 hours on stage like the Engergizer Bunny.

Kellen got his FC before I saw Shadow and Bone, but he became more formed and his character changed some afterwards. The plot didn't but he absorbed some of the elements of Kirigan that Ben played, elements that I had been struggling to figure out with Kellen. It was tied into the world building for Uffern, and as soon as he grabbed onto those tiny details, everything fell into place for Uffern and all the others who live there...including Korben's curse. z

The Truth and Divine Law of God, just like any other form of essential indoctrination, can only [effectively] be handed down authoritatively and by father-figures.

Remember again that humanity is steeped in “Adamic Nature” and compulsively averse to spiritual reasoning.

Rom 8:7 Why is this true? Because ANYONE WHOSE THINKING IS CONTROLLED BY THEIR SINFUL SELF IS AGAINST GOD. THEY REFUSE TO OBEY GOD'S LAW. And really they are not able to obey it. ERV

I saw recent statistics from USA showing that very high percent of children who end up in prison or in trouble with the Law, were raised by single mums.

While many women there indeed chose to raise their children themselves, they deny them the essential Fatherly discipline and structured training that helps to constrain them to good behaviour.

1Ti 3:4 He must manage HIS OWN HOUSEHOLD well and KEEP HIS CHILDREN IN CONTROL WITHOUT LOSING HIS DIGNITY. NET

Yes! A father’s dignity is impressed by his ability to inculcate upright behaviour in the next generation.

That is what it means to be a Father and that is what qualifies a Father to take up any Leadership responsibilities in God’s House.

1Ti 3:5 For if he’s UNABLE to properly LEAD his own household well, how could he properly lead God’s household? TPT

This shows how important this matter is to God: If a Man cannot effectively pass down the Laws of God to his own children from his own household, how would he be able to do so with the people of God?

God wants his Church Disciplined, under control and ruled by Law.

Ezr 7:11-12 EZRA WAS A PRIEST AND AN EXPERT IN THE LAWS AND COMMANDS THAT THE LORD HAD GIVEN TO ISRAEL. One day King Artaxerxes gave Ezra a letter which said: Greetings from the great King Artaxerxes to Ezra the priest and expert in the teachings of the God of heaven. CEV

The big problem now remains that many fathers have nothing to hand down to their children. They have Law that they don’t obey, but rather live is absolute defiance.

It is the children that sometimes have to beg God over their sins and their fathers’.

Jer 3:24-25 For shame has eaten up the labor of our fathers from our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covers us; for we have sinned against Jehovah our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah our God. It’s interesting to view these issues from Bible and ‘old times” and one might be tempted to assume it’s not happening today.

Well today, in many places, I see more children in Church than parents, and they are sometimes the ones who “force” their parents to attend Church.

They have no moral values to learn from most parents and have to depend on Church to adopt some.

Ish 54:13 ALL YOUR CHILDREN WILL HAVE GOD FOR THEIR TEACHER - what a mentor for your children MSG

It is rather a great relief that God will not leave the Job of Teaching Law entirely to Men or fathers.

Even the ones who Teach each time, are under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost.

Job 32:8 but there is a spirit within people, the breath of the Almighty within them, that makes them intelligent. NLT

Better still, because of the incessant failures of Men, God has to apply His alternative.

Jer 31:33-34 Here is the NEW AGREEMENT that I, the LORD, will make with the people of Israel: "I WILL WRITE MY LAWS ON THEIR HEARTS AND MINDS. I will be their God, and they will be my people. "NO LONGER WILL THEY HAVE TO TEACH ONE ANOTHER TO OBEY ME. I, THE LORD, PROMISE THAT ALL OF THEM WILL OBEY ME, ordinary people and rulers alike. I will forgive their sins and forget the evil things they have done." CEV

Beautiful! Isn’t it?

That’s why we have children who can teach their parents about God today.

However, it does not at all rule out the [ever-pertinent] need for fathers to teach Children God’s ways.

We all will still have to answer God that “day” if we fail to do so.

May we not be guilty or fail God is delivering His LAW to our children, IN JESUS NAME.

So, the “deadly sins” originally inspired by the bible was formed by the catholic church so there is no list in the bible about deadly sins but is more a product of may historical political power. Different religions meant also in the last centuries power, so it is easy to connect the concept of sin, death and hell to an exercise of power. But it would be a lie to say especially the bible would talk about sin, there is sin mentioned as well as bad things, but in the end, it shows how to conquer to freedom, pure love as well as all religions try to so it’s always in the eye of the beholder. What you believe is your reality. So the seven deadly sins are not listed in the bible but there are verse which point at: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride but more interesting is again how in the writing there is one thing listed what love means and its funny that the describing words of love are like the opposite in a beautiful way to think.

God is revealed to us as our heavenly Father simultaneously Spirit and Son

God’s revealed name in the Hebrew Scriptures is YHVH (in Hebraic form without vowels) which is related to the term “to be”

for it is the eternal God who caused the universe to be and “breathed” life into the instrumental womb of garden earth

although making life that is free to choose to follow God or refuse. and so beautiful earth was cursed with death because of deception and pride and sin, but there is a promised healing that will be.

we are headed for the pure creation of A new earth (and new heavens) in A grand end of time

and for now (while here in this world of much confusion) we’re meant to keep focus on what is pure, what is True, what is beautiful, what is honorable, what is right, what is Just

we need to see the eternal tapestry (through baptism eyes)

the world wants to deny the creation of Adam & Eve thousands of years ago from which earth was populated, just as some want to deny the Son as A new Adam and His Body (the Church) as A new Eve (this is a spiritual bond just as the spiritual “marriage” to come for a Spirit-prepared Bride since the silent & invisible Spirit has been sent to earth as an “engagement ring” for a pure Queen, alongside the Spirit-inspired writing of the Scriptures formed into the Book of the Bible as a True guide)

And so the pure “idea” and significance of marriage is intertwined throughout the entirety of Scripture

but in this world culture is turning itself away from our Creator’s design of earthly marriage (in the physical body) being the marital bond shared as a lifelong covenant between a man & woman who become as “One” body, thus making the only place for sex to be shared

And such a marital bond is only for our earthly bodies since we are destined to be changed into new bodies that will be immortal (eternal) and no longer given in marriage to each other since we’ll all be known as God’s children, as brothers and sisters in Light

it is A beautiful mystery in the way God (who is Love) has revealed Himself to us in these things

how does someone try to describe the preciousness of God's presence?  everyday with Jesus i love Him more and more.  i don't know how you begin your day.  i only know how i begin mine.  as soon as i finish my morning amenities i withdraw to the one place i have reserved for Him alone.  i go to greet my Lord.

"but to You i have cried out, o Lord, and in the morning my prayer comes before You." psa 88:13  i usually always try to greet Him with a smiling face, knowing almost immediately tears will begin flowing.  tears of worship for all that He is and His patience for continually drawing me to Him; tears for all the pain and suffering man is bestowing on man; tears for the bondage and hopelessness souls are swimming in - the latter quickly followed by a warring against those forces.

needless to say, my times are spent with many tears.  "as they pass through the valley of baca (weeping), they make it a spring." psa 84:6  my prayer is for those tears to water some seeded hope or prayer and bring it to fruition.  i can rarely go longer than 30 minutes because it is an intense time.  it is God's time.  it is the seed i sow for the day and burdens yet unknown.

you might think the water works would bring sadness.  sadness, yes, but a preciousness i cannot describe in words.  you must know it for yourself.  it is often in those times God gives me inspiration for something to write.  thoughts i know are not coming from me but from the throne room of God.  i joyfully share what i feel led to, but some words were meant just for me; whispers too personal to share.  needless to say, He always leaves me satisfied and yet thirsting for more.

immediately after prayer, i do my daily bible reading; some from the new, some from the old, some from the desired penmanship of the psalmists.  i think of george muller who ran an orphanage long ago.  he used to have a saying, "no bible, no breakfast."  he said sure there were times when circumstances preventing him from reading and that meant he would just fast breakfast.  beginning one's day with God and in God ensures a day with God.

certainly there are times and deeds throughout the day that demand full attention and space God from my immediate thoughts.  those are the times i trust Him to keep me, and before long, a new wonder presents itself and reminds me of my Lord and how thankful i am for all He is.  yes, "in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 thess 5:18

as the day closes around me and i sink into the sweet sleep this flesh requires, i again am drawn to think of my Lord; the majesty, the glory, the grandeur.  i think of Jesus, "who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped." phil 2:6  i think of His sacrifice while worship music and praise aid my escape into that darkened realm often containing dreams - dreams that may well contain a whisper of their own.

ev'ryday with Jesus, is sweeter than the day before; ev'ryday with Jesus i love Him more and more;

ev'ry day He grows a little dearer, ev'ry day He gets a little nearer, ev'ry day this old load gets lighter, ev'ry day my pathway gets brighter, ev'ry day He hears my fervent pleas, ev'ry day He gives my poor heart ease,

Jesus saves and keeps me, He's the one that i adore; ev'ryday is sweeter, sweeter than the day before.

"'Massive shifts are occurring in our culture and godly influence is declining. We see it slipping away before us in all arenas of life: government, business, media, education, sports, the church, the home! The erosion was subtle for decades, but it seems like a landslide is now under way.

As the church, how do we respond? As Christians, how do we influence the culture for Jesus Christ again?

God’s timeless solution lies in everyday believers. Jesus said to His followers,

You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world. — Matthew 5:13-14

As God’s salt and light, ordinary Christians have the potential to season society with godliness and shine bright in a dark world. That’s a natural, bottom-up godly influence rather than top-down. That’s authentic influence regardless of what the buzz phrase “being an influencer” means in many circles today. It’s not an important title, position, expertise, mood, qualification, great wealth, and so on, that determines whether you can influence or not. God has a knack of using ordinary people to accomplish His extraordinary purposes in the world. Everyday believers can saturate the culture with God’s flavor and light and so influence it for good. But this is only possible if they too are formed Christ’s way. It is lives shaped by God today that produce cultures re-shaped for God tomorrow: in government, business, media, education, and on and on.

God gives us a role model in the Scriptures to see exactly how this natural influence can occur through you. He stands in sharp contrast to the role models we tend to parade when following the world’s view on “being an influencer.” His name is Barnabas.

Barnabas shows you rather than tells you how to shape society for Jesus. He is God’s choice role model for everyday believers—from ministry leaders to stay-at-home parents to corporate CEO’s. He only pops up in the Book of Acts on a number of occasions but is described as “a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith,” (Acts 11:24). We don’t have any books he wrote nor sermons he preached. Barnabas doesn’t write pieces that become parts of the Bible like many of his close colleagues in the early church. At times he simply emerges as a part-farmer and part-parishioner in his local church. On other occasions he is a part-pastor or part-missionary taking on more formal duties. Overall, Barnabas was just an ordinary Christian like us who knew God personally and loved whoever was around him fully. How he did that helps us!

People shape people.

In watching Barnabas shape the lives of those around him, we all learn how to shape those around us too. Barnabas understood how to find, form, and launch another life in Jesus Christ. He mentored the Apostle Paul. He mentored John Mark. Both go on to become great Christian leaders. And both write much of the New Testament! Barnabas poured his life into both men. That’s how governments, businesses, and homes are changed: through the people that step into those spheres. Those people need formed Christ’s way. Barnabas understood that the most powerful influence to shape a human being by God’s design is exposure to another human being!

People shape people.

And people are everywhere to be formed.

So, every follower of Jesus is to influence those around them for Jesus. Government, corporations, even church policies and programs are often good. Pastors preaching sermons is important. But historically, it’s been regular, everyday Christians like you living out the gospel in the daily ruts and routines of life that have shaped society for God most. And most did so anonymously. Most found it hard too. Most Christians never preached a sermon nor wrote a book. But they knew they were personally responsible for the Great Commission of Jesus to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20). And they knew they — not their pastor for them — would one day stand before Jesus accountable for the lives of the people around them. So, they stepped out into their little patch of the world to be salty and bright for Jesus. They became part of God’s timeless solution to shape their family, friends, work colleagues, and neighborhoods. You can too! Barnabas models how."'

Book Review: 27 Servants of Sovereign Joy, by John Piper

What can we learn from the lives of past saints? In 27 Servants of Sovereign Joy, John Piper presents 27 biographies faithful, flawed, and fruitful saints from church history.

Passionate Joy in God

Book 1 begins with Augustine, Luther, and Calvin. Though they are giants in the faith, Piper is able to point to their humanity in their shared, passionate joy in God. In Book 2, Piper shows us Bunyan, Cowper, and Brainerd. I was most moved to read of Cowper’s depression, and the need to repeat the mercies and deeds of Jesus to those who are discouraged. Redeeming love is a worthy theme for all of our lives.

Next, Piper looks at Newton, Simeon, and Wilberforce. Specifically in the life of Wilberforce, Piper’s preoccupation with joy is on full display, and I found a sentence that will stick with me: “If a man can rob you of your joy, he can rob you of your usefulness.” To be an enduring, compelling Christian is to be one marked with joy. From Book 4, three lessons from the life of J. Gresham Machen were especially meaningful to me: (1) Machen’s life and thought issues a call for all of us to be honest, open, clear, straightforward, and guileless in our use of language, (2) Machen’s life teaches ut eh importance of founding and maintaining institutions in the preservation and spreading of the true gospel, and (3) Machen’s experience calls us to have patience with young strugglers who are having doubts about Christianity.

Endlessly Inspiring

William Tyndale caught my attention in Book 5, as his singular passion was “to see the Bible translated form the Greek and Hebrew into ordinary English available for every person in England to read.” While translation is important, I often praise the work without mentioning the goal: so all will be able to read. My favorite part is Book 6: Seeing Beauty and Saying Beautifully, and features  George Herbert, George Whitefield, and C. S. Lewis. Their lives, preaching powers, and way with words is endlessly inspiring.

This book is the updated version of 21 Servants of Sovereign Joy, and includes new chapters on Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Jonathan Edwards, Bill Piper, J. C. Ryle, Andrew Fuller, and Robert Murray McCheyne. I found a new preaching role model in J. C. Ryle, who published his sermons and was an avid reader. In terms of his preaching style, he modeled urgency, forcefulness, and penetrating power. The final chapter is on Piper’s father Bill, a beautiful biography of his own flesh and blood. He was stunned by the Gospel, satisfied with Christ, and revealed to be Christian hedonist at the end.

Relevant, Encouraging, and Motivating

This book brings these men alive in a way that only John Piper can. He writes with excitement, and tells their stories with wonder. He gets to the centers of their hearts, and discovers what makes them beat. Relevant, encouraging, and motivating — these are lives for remembering and rejoicing.

What Do “Progressive” Christians Believe? 9 Beliefs That Go Against God’s Word

Have you ever wondered what do “progressive” Christians believe? Have you thought about how to rebut or refute their beliefs using the Word of God?

The term “Christian” often refers to followers of Jesus Christ. But what do people mean when they use the term “progressive Christian”?

What Is a Progressive Christian?

The label “progressive Christian” can mean many things. Sometimes, it refers to a specific denomination or group of denominations. Other times, it refers to a philosophy or theology that is distinct from the historic, orthodox understanding of the Christian faith and doctrine.

The word “progressive” is often used as a synonym for “liberal,” but that is a limited definition of the term. Generally, when people say they are “progressive Christians,” they are referring to those who believe in certain beliefs that are in direct contradiction to the Bible.

So what do progressive Christians believe? Here are 9 beliefs of most progressive Christians and why they go against the Word of God (Note: Get out your Bible!):

1. ‘Jesus was a socialist.’ The Ten Commandments speaks against envy, which is really the basis for socialism.

2. ‘Jesus’ vision was for a transformed society, not an ‘afterlife fantasy about heaven, but a vision for a new society that would be better than the one we live in now.‘ John 14:1-4 completely refutes this errant belief:

“1 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. “2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

Jesus was talking about Heaven, not a ‘heaven on Earth,’ but HEAVEN above with God the Father.

3. ‘Jesus didn’t want to start a religion in His name, but rather He wanted to advance His message through a movement.’ Read Matthew 28:18 and 16:18. Jesus wants a Relationship with His children, not a Religion or even a movement. His desire is for a personal relationship with each of us.

4. ‘Jesus didn’t come to die and reconcile humanity to the Father, because they’re one in spirit with God, and not separated from Him by sin.’ Read 2 Corinthians 5:19

5. ‘Christianity, as we know it, is really based on the “theories and doctrines of Paul” and not the teachings and life of Jesus, as Paul’s writings comprise 13 books of the New Testament.’

2 Timothy 3:16: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…”

2 Peter 1:21: “for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

6. ‘The belief that Jesus was God the Creator in the flesh, in human form is false.’

John 8:57-58 57 “Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

John 10:26-30 “26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”

7. ‘Jesus taught that we all share in the same spirit that empowered His character and life.’ This belief is really far from the truth. Jesus and God are absolutely sinless! Conversely, humans are born in sin, so we obviously can not share in the same spirit – the Holy Spirit, who is also perfect and sinless.

Isaiah 64:6-7 “6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away. 7 And there is no one who calls on Your name, Who stirs himself up to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us, And have consumed us because of our iniquities.”

8. ‘Jesus didn’t teach that following Him is the only way to heaven.’ Oh, yes He did!

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

9. ‘Jesus didn’t teach that we should anticipate His second coming to “save the world and end suffering” but rather that we should take responsibility for saving the world and solving suffering ourselves.’

John 18:36 “Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”

It would be very hard to save a world that is not here on Earth. The Kingdom of Heaven is not here on Earth and we mere humans can do nothing to save our world or save ourselves. Only Jesus Christ and His Father in Heaven can save us – even save us from ourselves!

So What Do Progressive Christians Believe?

Certainly nothing that can be substantiated in the Word of God, that’s for sure!
