Something that has occurred to me recently while rewatching SAH.

So, episode seven. Geumsaegi discovers that a rebel group exists. And it is quite large. And they know he’s connected to Flower Hill. And what does he do with this information? Tries to thwart them so he can remain in Jogjebi’s good graces.

I actually don’t think that was the best move.

From a logical standpoint, if you are trying to win a war, you likely benefit if the enemy leader loses power. And if you find out there is a group on the inside of your enemy nation that also doesn’t want the current leaders to be in power, it makes sense to work with them. Especially since some of the rebels are high ranking members of the enemy military. They’re already on the inside, likely have access to more information than you, and if you put one of them in power, then they owe you a debt. Like, say, a peace treaty with very favorable terms on your nation’s end.

So why doesn’t this occur to Geumsaegi? Sure, he just found out that these people knew his secret, and I will grant they also made a request that put him in a compromising position. Stress may have been a factor. But this literally. Keeps. Happening to him, and he never thinks to at least attempt to work with the rebels. So why is that?

Here are my current theories…

Geumsaegi would have been happy to facilitate an alliance but may have wanted the other side to bring it up first as a show of good faith.

Flower Hill has worked with rebels before, once. And it somehow ended up going so terribly wrong that a blanket “Never Again” is all that’s said of the incident.

Geumsaegi simply does not have the authority to make such an arrangement.

Flower Hill is so distrustful of their enemies that even the rebels are considered dangerous.

Flower Hill is built off of the idea of loyalty. To that end they are so disgusted by the sheer thought of betraying one’s nation, or whoever is in charge of it, that they refuse to work with anyone they consider a traitor. Even if they are a traitor for the enemy side.

Five Minute Drabbles: Guemsaegi/Juldarami, Date/Meet-Up

It didn’t get to happen very often. Which made sense, they were both undercover. They tried to avoid taking leave if they could, but if they did it too often, it would be suspicious. And if they always managed to take their leaves together, that would also be suspicious.

But sometimes, every once in a blue moon, the opportunity would come. And tonight was one of those nights.

Guemsaegi snuck into their secret spot to find Juldarami was already there. Soju already poured, blanket already set up. He said nothing. Just sat down next to him, taking the soju in one hand and Juldarami’s paw in the other. They sat together, quietly looking up at the sky. At the stars. The oh so familiar constellations they both had seen so many times before.

Guemseagi thought to something he had overheard from one of the female mice. Something about some theory or other. Love language, she called it. “Quality time is one of the best,” she said. “Just having your partner be with you. In the moment. Even if you don't say anything at all.”

Guemsaegi looked over at Juldarami and placed his head on his shoulder. He didn’t believe in most things that mice said. But maybe, just maybe, they were right about this.

what do you plan to do with geumsaegi for you project? No spoilers

He’s pretty much the one main character of my Super Secret Project. The real main character is a blank slate so you could insert yourself or your oc into the story.

I’m exploring his psychology. Why he’s so eager to sacrifice his life on a whim. I know in the cartoon it’s because of propaganda. Duh. But I found it interesting. I had this idea for a scene in either a short story about Scout Gosemdouchi or in Super Secret Project.

Scout Gosemdouchi and Geumseagi are hanging out. Somehow the topic of what will you do when the war is over comes up. Scout Gosemdouchi plans on starting a family. Geumseagi suddenly realizes he never thought of what he was going to do. The idea of surviving the war ironically scares him. Seeing it as a failure he didn’t give his everything into keeping his loved ones safe.

It needs some work still done on it. Why does he have all those fantasies of meeting back up with his loved ones? Erm. Deep down he wants to be happy but doesn’t feel like he’s worthy. Why does he feel like he’s not worthy? You got to wait for me to finish working on the Super Secret Project to find out. But it’s probably because he feels like he fucked up and is trying to redeem himself, in his mind, through being a soldier.

The project isn’t going to follow cannon completely. For example Geumseagi always being stone cold. Instead of how it is in the show, where the war hardens him. And of course it wouldn’t be a Bobby Butterly glorified fanfic if there wasn’t a complex father son relationship.
