A found family can really be a human, an alien with autism, another alien with autism, another other alien with autism, a raccoon with bpd, a tree that also an iPad kid, an a time travel variant of a girl you used to know.

No because the family bond between the guardians is insane. Like we been known since vol 1 but vol 3 just SOLIDIFIED that bitch. Pure love all around. I love the avengers but they could NEVER.

You know what else plays into the sadness of Rocket's backstory?
That he is so small.
He seems so innocent, so pure, so fragile, so open... completely not like the Rocket we know from the previous movies that is strong but also cynical and closed-off. And this small, innocent Rocket is lied to, abused and lost. He attacks only when he's enraged and full of despair.
It's probably a cliche, but Rocket's innocence probably died alongside with Lylla, Teefs and Floor.

Never thought a Marvel movie ending with a dance party set to “Dog Days are Over” by Florence and the Machine would make me emotional, but, well, here we are

Gamora not ending up with Peter subvert our “soul-mate” expectations. In another life, Peter and Gamora were soulmates. They grew and made each other better and their love was sincere. But that Gamora is gone.
2014!Gamora isn’t Peter’s Gamora. Just because she could find happiness with him doesn’t mean she should. She found love and happiness with other people and we can’t hold it against her.

watching Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 felt like saying goodbye to my high school friend group before we all left for different colleges, knowing that while we might keep in touch, we were never going to be this group ever again, and a huge chapter of our lives was over...and i can't remember the last time i cried that much in the theater.
perfect send-off. thank you James Gunn 💜

At the end of the first Guardians movie when Drax is comforting Rocket after Groot died, it probably reminded him of when Lylla comforted him since that’s the first and last time he ever received some form of comfort. It was also the first time anyone ever comforted him after the loss of a friend. And for Drax it was also the first time that he got to be in a fatherly role again. Now Drax gets to be a dad again to a bunch of kids in need and Rocket gets to be surrounded by his friends/family all the time, which is such a great full circle ending.
