Le dîner de cons (The Dinner Game), dir. Francis Veber
"For Pierre Brochant and his friends, Wednesday is 'Idiots Day'. The idea is simple : each person has to bring along an idiot. The one who brings the most spectacular idiot wins the prize. Tonight, Brochant is ecstatic. He has found a gem. The ultimate idiot, 'A world champion idiot!'. What Brochant doesn't know is that Pignon is a real jinx, a past master in the art of bringing catastrophes...

A private investigator uses an unlucky man to recover an unlucky woman who’s been kidnapped. The duo Pierre Richard / Gerard Depardieu is great. But then it’s always the same humour based on bad luck.

"Hi ! About Depardieu and the letter: yes, a lot of people such as Nadine Tratignant and Carole Bouquet withdrawed their signature. Not because supporting the victims but because the author of the letter is far right (in french "d'extrême droite) and national journal say it. They still support Depardieu. For example, Carole Bouquet was a great supporter of Depardieu few days ago in a lot of radio/tv show."

Jez was so kind as to tag me in a 3x3 movies to get to know me better and you know what, why not! So here they are:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My favorite soviet movies, as I really mainly only watch soviet stuff: gentlemen of fortune, the story of voyages and the beginning. Gentlemen of fortune is my favorite movie of all time and I cannot stress how important it is to me. It's profoundly kind, comforting and funny and I think it's one of my most watched movies ever, it's so special <333 and then there's story of voyages. 😬😬😬. It's not that I hate it as a movie, I just hate how my brain fixated on it for a while and then realized that "wait, this is actually really flawed", and then I rewatched it 10 times and became really angry at the ending and how good it was in my head. Shit still has a huge grip on my mind. Oh and THE BEGINNING that started my short but effective Churikova fix. I want to rewatch it I think I missed out on the Joan of Arc parallels a lot

Kinda funny to put Pierre Richard with two animations but second category is things from my childhood that I saw rarely but loved deeply. First is the toy by Francis Veber. Main thing I remember is the wonderful score but I also remember how kind and funny it was and how the ending broke my heart and make me week my eyes out. Looking back it's a nice commentary on class and I would really love to rewatch it someday! Because this alongside gentlemen of fortune is probably responsible for my love for found families. Song of the sea is gorgeous and captivating and it opened my eyes to animation more than anything else I've seen as a kid. Tom Moore is a wonderful director and I saw most of his movies but this one's my fave :) and at last is a long long holiday which isn't a movie but still sits deep in my heart! A very touching series about kids during ww2. Cried a lot. I cried a lot during all of these movies actually lol I liked crying as a child

Party movies! I feel like I have to explain pulp fiction first because it's like a well acclaimed movie and it's very well made but I would honestly never watch it alone? First time I watched it was with friends and every subsequent watch was with someone. It's fun reciting Jules' monologue in a company and it's especially fun when you cosplay Vince and Mia with your friend. I just dont care for going deep into this movie I'm sorry it's just fun to me. Next is this is sodom and OH MY GOD WHAT A FUCKING GEM. It's the stupidest movie I have ever seen but it's so good and fucking hilarious especially when you watch it with your class after you learn about sodom in school. Also it has the insane banger that is DA OTI DA OTI DA OTI DAAA OTIIII. And last one is wwdits. No explanation needed I think
I'm afraid to tag anyone especially because I barely have mutuals that I talk to but uhhh @eveofthestars if you want to you can do this I guess
