Since the Force is not a power one has, but rather what gives one their power, would it be reasonable, if accurate to assume the Light and Dark Sides of the Force are not just means to the power of the Force, but also psychological states of mind? Joseph Campbell's reading on Christ's "peace" and the Buddha's "Nirvana" as inherent within us and where we can properly act from by our learning to center ourselves in them has had me wondering.
Yes, that would be accurate! The power of the Force, the Force-powers and all that are externalized psychological states of the mind, made manifest by those who have the talent to have some control over the energy, which is the substance of those psychological states and the mind and self and consciousness.
For example, Yoda never manifests lethal bolts from himself, because he doesn’t have the psychological state of a violent storm. He is "only" able to absorb and repel those bolts, because he harnesses his mental state in which anger, hate and aggression, all what that lighting actually is, are dissolved or controlled. And if you watch Sidious, you don’t see him actually controlling his lightning. He can manifest it, sure, but in Episode III and VI, it's very clear that it's like allowing steam to burst out of his fingers, in the same way steam bursts out of your ears, so to speak, and he can direct that steam to targets and burning them. But when it’s reflected back onto him, he can't absorb it, he can't repel it. He is burning as well, this is why his face gets a scarred, distorted. He can only stop manifesting the steam. So, yes, the Force is not just giving strength to Jedi and Sith, it's not just a way to get strength, it’s also their psychological, mental, emotional, intellectual, spiritual processes.
The Kingdom of God and Nirvana would be a bit deeper that that, though, that’s more like the individual Force recognizing that its part of the cosmic Force, like a wave is part of an ocean, from which it's made of, from which it rises and into which it will be reversed. This way, they can rejoice for those around them who are transformed into the larger=cosmic Force from the smaller=living Force, and can conquer their fears and they can let go.

Adding more to the Star Wars AU
-Mario and Luigi are separated (as babies) because they are foretold to have strong Force powers, and the Jedi Council believe "Oh well the Koopa Kingdom will be looking for a baby with strong Force but not realise there are two!"
- But little do they know that the babies prove to have stronger Force powers than they realise. For years, since they were babies, the brothers can sense and send a "signal" of Force power straight to each other - planets apart.
- And once the Jedi Council eventually realise this they're all "oh shiz these babies are more powerful than we thought!"
- Mario and Luigi grow up wishing they knew who was sending these "signals" to each other.

Omega's face is wet with her brother's blood. Hemlock stands before her, eyes wide as she closes her eyes and lifts her hands toward him. Three children stand on either side of her, hands raised with her, against him.
Ok, I might have to write this scene.
Edit: I wrote it and it's harsh.

On Ahsoka
I've decided to accept Ahsoka's Mary sue-ness and move on. That doesn't mean I like it
So she legit has psychometry and animal empathy like those weren't unique talents what's next fire creation or absorb energy, sigh. Okay I'm done
My legit complaint is where is Thrawn for the villain of the show he's very invisible. And if he's going to be scary you need to know what he's doing to be scared.
And also how come Huyang doesn't just say force power when Jacen uses his. it's not like he hasn't said it before

do you think Jedi have trouble learning how to speak? Like, we know with Grogu that they can communicate by the Force even as toddlers who do not yet know how to talk so my question is: how hard is it to learn? They can easily communicate without speaking in the Temple as pretty much everyone can understand communication using the Force, how do you teach a toddler to speak when they can avoid doing it? They can communicate just fine so how do you manage to make the toddlers talk? I guess those who were old enough before going to the Temple learned how to speak to communicate with non Force sensitive but those who were too young? Why use words when you can show your emotions, when you can make the other feel them? We all have had those moments when we can’t find the words to describe something, imagine you could just make the other feel how you perceive it. I know I would prefer that to words.

So because Ahsoka is about to start, I was watching some stuff about Star Wars Rebels, and something interesting came up.
Ezra Bridger has a strong connection with animals. He can use the force to get them to help. He's not the only Jedi who can do this, Gungi the wookie Padawan displayed the skill as well. But it does seem to be a rather rare skill among Jedi.
It got me thinking, are there any other rare abilities that only a few Jedi or Sith can do?
Mace Windu had the Vapaad style of Lightsaber combat, as well a the Shatter Point ability, but we only got to see that a small handful of times in Clone Wars.
I know that in "The Force Awakens" Kylo Ren displays the ability to freeze people, and even lasers, in place. he does this twice in the movie, but never displays that skill again. I thought it was going to be his signature move throughout the trilogy.
I feel like we should see Jedi with more diverse sets of skills. Like giving some jedi 2 lightsabers or double ended lightsabers is a good step, but I'd like to see that with Force abilities too.
Are there any rare Jedi skills that you guys are aware of, or wish that Star Wars would display?

Sabine Wren Has Force Powers
Sabine Wren Has Force Powers
There has been a lot of speculation about Sabine Wren ever since the release of the second Ahsoka trailer. In one scene, Sabine addresses Ahsoka Tano, a well-known Jedi who managed to survive order 66 as a ronin, saying “You made things easy for me – Master.” Additionally, there are other scenes in the trailers where Sabine appears to reach for a mug using telekinesis and is seen fighting a Dark…

Force powers as Quake Powers:
Because Daisy is strong in the Force, or she would be if these two fictional universes crossed.
Note: Telekinesis, Barrier and Force Jump are neutral powers. Choke, Destruction, Maelstrom and Force Wind are dark side powers. Cleanse mind, Stun, Stasis and Truth-sense are light side powers. So if Daisy was a Force user with this skill set, she would be one who balances the light side and the dark side, without falling to the latter. Perks of originating from a fictional universe that's not quite as Manichean 😉
Telekinesis: Force push, pull, lift. Daisy's vibrokinetic abilities can mimic Force telekinesis, and her vibrational blasts (push) are the most common display of her power. We've never seen her pull things, but she's got lift covered: she's caught and slowed down Rosalind's fall in 3x07 and kept a live nuke suspended in a shock-absorbing bubble (6x09), which can be seen as a mix of lifting and barrier.
Force Barrier: Force users can shield themselves and others, creating a barrier of Force energy. Daisy can do much the same with her powers, as seen against Kora in 7x12
Force Jump: Using the Force to leap far beyond one's natural elevation. Daisy has jumped on top of buildings (3x22, 4x10) and launched herself on moving cars (4x02) using her powers as propellent. In 4x08 she propelled herself hundreds of meters above the skyline to discharge the energy accumulated absorbing a series of earthquakes. She is also capable of propelling herself forward keeping parallel to the ground, thus emulating flight at least for a short time (5x22).
Force Choke: This is a dark side application of telekinesis. Daisy chocked Fitz in 3x18 with her powers when she was hived (Darth Quake 😁) and came close to repeat it against her sister in 7x11.
Force Destruction: this is a massive energy field that can vaporize most anything in its path. The disintegration of the shrikes in 6x09 doesn't quite fit (especially because Mark Kolpak, the vfx supervisor, said she created tiny quakes inside each shrike disintegrating them from the inside out, which sounds much harder than one large disruptive field) but it's the closest. And she did say she can literally turn people into dust, so 🤷‍♀️
Force Maelstrom: this is a combination of force barrier, telekinesis and force lighting. Daisy can't emulate force lighting (imagine the havoc if she synergized her powers with Lincoln's or her sister's 🤩) but could combine the other two in one devastating, simultaneously defensive and offensive, move. Her final burst of energy against Nathaniel Malick in 7x13 may be the closest on-screen example, as she must have also been protecting herself from the incoming explosion. In 2x15, she instinctually projected a shockwave to protect herself against a bullet, destroying a chunk of forest and knocking Calderon and Bobbi several meters backwards.
Force Wind: this power involves manipulating air currents and it's therefore totally up Daisy's alley, who manipulates air molecules regularly for her brand of telekinesis.
Cleanse Mind: this power counteracts mind-altering Force powers. Daisy managed to break free of the technological version, when she bye-byed out of Kasius Sr. mind prison in 5x21 by sheer power of concentration and sass.
Force Stun/Stasis: these powers temporarily mute the senses and the most powerful version (stasis) can induce a near-catatonic state. Daisy has never done anything like it, but, theoretically, she could dampen sounds and alter visual perceptions to cause a state of confusion, or mess with someone's equilibrium and spatial sense by targeting their vestibular system. Possibly something very difficult to pull off without causing permanent damage.
Truth-sense: Jedi can use the force to determine if someone is lying. If Daisy senses heartbeats (and she totally should) she could use that as a lie-detector of sorts, especially in support of a verbal interrogation.
Bonus: one of the abilities in the Jedi Sage's arsenal, one of the advanced classes combat styles for the players characters in the game SW The Old Republic, is called Force Quake and it's an Area of Effect attack that's basically a localized earthquake.

I love finding in universe explanations for why things happened (even if out of universe it was because of budget cuts etc.) and recently i was replaying Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order on grandmaster and now it is my headcanon that Cal's force echoes aren't just of the past, and any time i (out of universe) fuck up and he dies, he sees an echo of that future and changes something, i just think it adds a lot of angst to the story and also gives me an excuse for why im bad at videogames

Star Wars Head Canon Retcon: Force Powers
Watching Andor has gotten me back into Star Wars, and going back through the original trilogy I'm realizing again how much potential there is in what's implied about the past. But then the prequels lock that potential into a very disappointing, fixed answer, which everything now has to work around. There are some workable things in the prequels, but they only work if you fill in the gaps with head canon, or refer to questionably-canon side works. So I've constructed my own head canon based on the original trilogy about what really happened in the prequels. Since George Lucas operated as though only the original movies were canon, and any of the novels were fair game to retcon, I'll do the same (although I'll at least try to keep the good modern shows like Andor and Rebels viable).
Tumblr media
Using the Force:
Since I've already established the differences between the light and dark sides of the force, now I'll describe what Jedi and Sith can do with it in my headcanon.
Tumblr media
The way people wield the force in the original trilogy doesn't look much like what they show in the prequels. Yes, the original trilogy had more limitations in special effects and budget, but it's more than that. The force was portrayed more through Luke's internal journey, and it was depicted as a spiritual relationship, so the ways the force was used were subtle. If he'd been too powerful, the conflict wouldn't have had tension. When the prequels switched to mostly showing cool lightsaber fights, Star Wars lost a lot of that original subtle, psychological mystery. It also led to a lot of franchise spinoffs ignoring the canon, but more subtle, powers, in favor of power creep.
Tumblr media
In the original trilogy, Jedi and Sith can: choke people from a distance, choke people in another star system they can see on screen, put thoughts into people's heads, sense danger, predict the near future, gain visions of the farther future, read people's emotions, read people's thoughts, and manipulate electronics. None of these are flashy, but they're incredibly powerful if used smartly, and align with my reframing of the Jedi and Sith as religious movements. Force wielders would make terrifyingly effective spies. They can still move things through space, but that would be a bigger deal and used more sparingly. Remember, Luke and Yoda were supposed to be very powerful Jedi, and neither of them flung around super large objects with ease.
Tumblr media
These powers would be very threatening to people in positions of power. One of the ways a Jedi would, say, undermine a crime syndicate, would be by infiltrating it and turning people against each other. The Jedi, though, have a doctrinal commitment to not involving themselves in politics except to maintain order and peace, enforced by their reliance on the light side of the force. If a Jedi became too personally invested in the back and forth of politics, of the fight for power, their inner stability could be compromised and their connection to the force disrupted--or worse, they might turn to the dark side. This is why the Republic favors the Jedi, because they are the most politically safe group of force wielders.
Tumblr media
The Sith do not have the same problems, and so are much more at risk of the temptation to use their force powers to influence people's minds to get what they want. They would even be more adept at it than the Jedi, because they can and must practice it more. Being a dissident movement on the run, the Sith must use their powers to avoid detection by the Jedi or their allies. They're forced to develop skills to mask their force presence, and manipulate their way out of danger. The most powerful Sith can use their mind influence on Jedi, and sway them over to the dark side, when normally force sensitives are resistant to mind powers.
Tumblr media
The last thing is the question of what happens after death. In the original trilogy, it's shown that sometimes a Jedi is able to preserve their consciousness in the force when they die. It's undeveloped, but the idea is there. I propose instead of the now canon idea that transcending death is almost impossible, that instead it's rare but well known. (After all, at the end of Return of the Jedi there are three different force ghosts.) When a Jedi lives long and fully develops their connection to the light side of the force, it is normal that they maintain their consciousness after death. These ancestral masters watch over their pupils, and are consulted by future generations. Over time their coherence wanes and they can't be heard anymore, but it is still believed that they can exert influence. Old Jedi will go to their home temple to die, and if they transcend, a statue will be built to honor them there. The lingering presence of so many generations of Jedi masters is the reason for the mind-bending things that happen in Jedi temples. These Jedi effectively act as Buddhas, whose wisdom can be accessed through ritual.
Tumblr media
This process of transcending death is not exclusive to the Jedi. While the dark side does corrode people, some are able to manage it, and live long lives while maintaining their clarity of mind. These Sith masters are similarly revered and consulted at Sith temples. So when Anakin's presence shows up at the end of Return of the Jedi, it's not because Luke turned him to the light side at the very end, and somehow that was enough because Anakin was powerful or something. Anakin remains a Sith lord to his dying breath. What Luke does is switch him from a Sith lord of hate to a Sith lord of love, and it's as a Sith lord of love, who was able to maintain his sanity better than Palpatine, that Anakin transcends death. So in my headcanon, that final shot is of two Jedi and one Sith.

Wishlisting for Ahsoka and Fallen Order 3
Fallen order first, because it's more important
More companion interactions and fighting
Return of the puzzles from fallen order
Codex organized by story
More side quests
Force power even more integrated into the story and gameplay
Ahsoka (because it would be cool but probably wouldn't get, I have no trust in the current show runners)
If she is a force user Sabine relies that she need to be both a Jedi and a Mandalorian. Like the story in 'I, Jedi'
Related the bad guys are a new force tradition and only working with the bad guys because the Jedi scare them.
Ahsoka relies that she needs to learn a new way and Sabine would be the first of the new force users

Star Wars Chat Pack: What if you had psychometry?
Welcome to Day 23 of my NaBloPoMo Challenge, in which I randomly pick a card from the Star Wars Chat Pack. Today’s question is: Some Jedi can sense the history of an object when they touch it. If you had this ability, what item would you want to pick up and learn about? I think this Force ability–called psychometry–is quite interesting, and seems rare. Jedi like Quinlan Vos and Cal Kestis have…
