'Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan revealed he cast his own daughter in a daring scene and watched her become gravely injured on screen during filming for the highly anticipated flick.

The famed filmmaker revealed that his movie exploring the life of atomic bomb creator J Robert Oppenheimer, featured a gruesome cameo by one of his nearest and dearest.

Explaining that his daughter Flora, 22, stepped up to take on the role of a girl whose face becomes damaged during an explosion that plays out in the main character’s mind, Christopher said the idea came to him while his wife and offspring were visiting him on set.

The creative’s wife and producer Emma Thomas and their daughter came to have a look around the production sets while the film was still being made.

Not the first time Flora has leant her dad a helping hand, the budding actresspreviously appeared as an extra in his 2014 film Interstellar.

She is currently a student at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and will graduate with the class of 2024.

Christopher told the Telegraph: ‘We needed someone to do that small part of a somewhat experimental and spontaneous sequence.

‘So it was wonderful to just have her sort of roll with it.’

Acknowledging it was a strange casting choice to have his own child play out such a grisly scene, the star admitted: ‘Truthfully, I try not to analyse my own intentions.

‘But the point is that if you create the ultimate destructive power it will also destroy those who are near and dear to you.

‘I suppose this was my way of expressing that in what, to me, were the strongest possible terms.’

The highly anticipated film stars Cillian Murphy in the titular role and includes appearances from Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr and Florence Pugh.

Christopher’s comments came after the stars of the flick staged a walk-out from the London premiere to ‘write their picket signs’ ahead of the Sag-Aftra strike announcement on Thursday evening.

The premiere of Christopher’s historical epic was brought forward by an hour ahead of a Sag-Aftra press conference in Los Angeles, which later declared the US union had agreed to strike.

The anticipated announcement cast a shadow over the London film premiere at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, with the film’s major stars leaving before the screening of the film.

Speaking on the red carpet, Cillian told PA: ‘I stand by my colleagues, that’s all I can say to you.’'

Winx Musical Casting -The Winx and the Trix

So, yknow how there's those extremely underrated winx stage musicals in the early 2000s in Italy and The Netherlands? What if we brought a production over to broadway? WELL, i've combined my winx fan braincell and my theatre kid braincell and created a casting. HERE YA GO HERES THE GORLS! (the boys will come later)

Bloom: Mallory Maedke

Mallory's mostly well known for being an alternate and the dance captain for the North American premiere (Chicago, Edmonton, Cambridge, and St. Paul) and Broadway production of Six the Musical. She has such an amazing voice that I feel like she could kill whatever material is in the show, both acting and singing material. Her dancing? Amazing. She was the dance captain for a reason.

Avatar (2009) and its pop cultural disappearance

Welcome back to my blog. Since Avatar’s long awaited sequel is coming out in a few months, I was thinking about the original movie, which destroyed every box office record between 2009 and 2010. Specifically, I was wondering: why did Avatar leave no trace in pop culture?

The movie itself is rarely mentioned, you barely hear someone quoting a line or a scene from Avatar, let alone remembering the characters’ names outside of Jake Sully and, perhaps, the alien Neytiri.

If we think about director James Cameron’s previous film, however, the story is another. We are talking about Titanic, a movie still loved and referenced 25 years after it was released, back in 1997. Leonardo DiCaprio is still a huge star, and, when it comes to the music, Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On is so famous that it could be hard to find someone who, at the mention of her name, thinks about another song.

The same cannot be said, for instance, with Leona Lewis’ I See You, and, with the actors, Zoe Saldana might be more famous for her MCU role as Gamora, ironically another alien with a colourful skin. As with Sam Worthington, while he did go on to have a nice career, he has nowhere near the star power that DiCaprio obtained with Titanic.

What happened to Avatar? How did the movie that became the highest grossing one in history manage to barely left a scratch in pop culture?

I will try to share my opinion.

Avatar was well crafted in every detail. Top notch special effects, wonderful landscapes (CGI generated, but inspired by real life landscapes), a believable alien culture (with a language created specifically for the movie), diverse flora and fauna and even the accuracy of making the Na’Vi blue because their planet, Pandora, had two suns.

However, the plot is something we have seen countless times. The main character, initially, is on the side of those who want to fight against a people. Then, he finds out that said people is actually on the good side, and fights for them. Not only there are so many stories with this plot (just to name one, the series of John Carter of Mars, created in 1912, even adapted as 2012’s John Carter), but, in that year, District 9 came out, with a similar structure, beautiful special effects and a better handled plot.

I can show you a culinary parallelism. Imagine you are walking into a luxurious restaurant. The waiters are all elegant, the chairs and tables are manually crafted, the cutlery made of pure silver and the menu is nothing short of a silk towel, with golden writing on it. You order something, whose name resembles something that came from French cuisine, and you trust the chef, renowned as much as Gordon Ramsey.

After a few minutes, in which you cannot wait to taste it, someone serves you a shiny tray. You look into it… and it’s pork and beans!

Now, tell me: if you were to think about that restaurant again, would you think about the luxury around you, or that all those efforts pretty much just served you pork and beans?

Also, Avatar even lost its potential role of an original story that managed to shine when put next to adaptations, remakes and reboots. In 2010, Inception came out, and managed to show the potential of an original blockbuster, something that director Christopher Nolan even replicated with 2014’s Interstellar, and then with his subsequent movies. Ironically, the main character of Inception was played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

What about the 3D? When Avatar came out, everything was around 3D. Movies tried to capture the 3D craze, even when it was clear how the movie was produced without said intention, and, as such, you barely had one scene where 3D was well used, and it could have been a pure coincidence.

I sincerely hope that Avatar’s sequel manages to be a success and finally give the highest grossing movie of all time the rightful spot in pop culture.

After all, from a business standpoint, it also represented a watershed. Before its release, only four movies had grossed one billion Dollars. Now, you could barely get in the top 50 movies of all time with that number.

PINNACLE PEAKS' YEAR ONE SUMMARY IS HERE!

Although the "Pinnacle Peaks Project" was approved and largely funded by the SimCity government and SCIA, the first year of building a settlement in the middle of nowhere was no easy task for the settlers.

The houses the SCIA had built were almost completely self-sustainable with solar panels and photovoltaic cells on the roofs as well as a rainwater collection system. But to make this settlement into a thriving progressive city with many research facilities it would need more than that.

The first big milestone of Pinnacle Peaks was planting the crop fields. Rae, Niamh, Bree and Jasper started tilling the field and planting the first crops as soon as they arrived.

When Summer came the first crops were ready for harvest and Pinnacle Peaks didn't have to rely on the seasonal delivery of food parcels organized by the SCIA anymore. Bree, who had planted some seeds in her "super planter", could also finally start with comparing the samples.

Shortly after finding out that food grown in her super planters were indeed of a higher quality Bree received more good news: The SimCity’s Association for Ecological Conversation, the SCAEC, had finally agreed to fund her research.

And while Jasper didn't bother with farm work most of the time, he excelled at selling things.

Flora, who of all the settlers was most eager to start with her research, started with the excavations near the mysterious stone monuments almost right away.

But when the SCIA had promised Flora her own project, it sure sounded more glamorous than a little wooden shed next to the dig site. And after many days and weeks of hard work with only slow progress, Flora took her anger out on the only person who could change the situation. Poor Finley....

When summer came Mayor Finley recieved a mysterious donation, which she used to finish building the town hall. Once done Finley dedicated one of the two rooms to Flora - for whathever she would like to use it. And a few weeks later the funding for Flora's project finally came through.

Fergus Watts, Pinnacle Peak's big hope for any projects regarding physics and robotics, was waiting for the inspiration for his next invention to strike. In the meantime he decided it was time to learn how to cook. In the process he might have started a fire or two in the kitchen.

As it turns out that was the inspiration he needed because he went on to to build his first fully functioning extinguishing robot (which was often in use from then on).

With fall there came the flu and Dr. Quinn West had no shortage of work. Quinn was on a lot of house calls during fall, treating runny noses and bad coughs, bringing down fevers. Actually she only did house calls, since there was no medical center as of yet.

When Finley and Caleb both caught it, Finley was doing a lot worse than her best friend. Quinn and the mayor didn’t have the best start with the telescope-incident. But after several house visits and many bowls of Quinn's delicious soup, the women grew closer.

Nobody knew how, but despite the SCIA's great efforts to keep the settlement secret, a person managed to make their way to Pinnacle Peaks and broke into the farmhouse.

Finley had already written to the SimGovernment requesting a police officer be stationed in Pinaccle Peaks. And after another burglary (this time at the mayor's house!), she finally arrived: Harper Nolan.

'Christopher Nolan cast his eldest daughter in a gruesome role for his forthcoming feature “Oppenheimer.”

Speaking with the Telegraph, Nolan revealed that his daughter, Flora, visited the “Oppenheimer” set, alongside his wife and producer Emma Thomas, while the film was still in production. Nolan then had the idea to cast Flora in a then-open role: a nameless young woman who has her face damaged by a nuclear explosion in a sequence within the main character’s mind.

“We needed someone to do that small part of a somewhat experimental and spontaneous sequence,” Nolan said. “So it was wonderful to just have her sort of roll with it.”

Nolan recognized the peculiarity of the casting, revealing that it was a decision that came quickly and one that was not premeditated: “Truthfully, I try not to analyze my own intentions.”

🟢 flora finale outfit: i really like the outfit, but it's the skirt that wins my heart with its patterns. so since nolan has made separate versions, i'm only keeping the skirt here.

🟡 bewitching blooms hat: because... yes? i have no logical reason here, the hat is cute, works great with many outfits and there's this retro vibe i really like about it.
