So I'm really at the end of my rope, bitching and moaning under the cut

So for those of you who haven't been around since the stone age or just aren't in the know, my mom is bipolar. Her doctors in their infinite wisdom decided to test taking her off lithium, and shock of all shockers she is now manic as fuck. Like I just got an email from my landlords threatening possible eviction if her erratic behavior doesn't stop even though we haven't even been here for six months level manic.

So, given that she's literally mentally ill and is a selfish, manipulative, uncaring asshole even when she's medicated, she took my brand new car (it literally doesn't even have 1k miles on it yet) probably like 17 hours ago at this point (I have a time-stamped DM about it from like 13 hours ago), did something to damage it enough to need one of the tires replaced (and she says it's fine but somehow doubting it) EARLY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON and she still hasn't come home. I have called repeatedly, she has occasionally answered, and even giving her the biggest benefit of the doubt in the world it should have taken her about 20 minutes to get home when I called two hours ago.

Honestly my level of stress is just unreal, not only has she managed to abscond with and fuck up the most valuable thing I have ever owned in my life that is brand new and was a pretty huge thing for me to even get in the first place, but as you can imagine, this is not my first rodeo so the childhood trauma triggering is A LOT. And I just can't help but hate myself for not disengaging from this mess, deadass I moved to California as soon as I graduated from college specifically so this would not have to be my life anymore, and now here I am going through this same shit years later and never fully being able to enjoy my life and accomplishments because I have to wrangle a literal crazy person who has no one else.

It just sucks, I never asked for this, and unsurprisingly every other person in her life has tapped out over the years because it's too much and she's just too unkind for anyone to power through it for her so-called good times. She has said many times that she would have literally died at some point if it weren't for me, and while I obviously don't want her dead, that is an ENORMOUS amount of responsibility that I never asked for, and it is a responsibility that has drained a lot of good out of my life. I know everyone has to deal with shit, but having to deal with a mentally ill person who just takes and takes and takes and will tell you you're an asshole every time you try to genuinely help them just completely sucks the life out of you. At this point I wish she would just go off and live her dream crackhead life and leave me out of it, FFS we've been living in our new apartment for 5 months and she hasn't given me rent money once so at least I know I can do it on my own if necessary, and I'm just so fucking SPENT. For god's sake, I just called her again in the process of writing this damn post and she started yelling at me as if I'M the asshole in this scenario.

I just want to sit and cry and have the biggest pity party in the world and more than that I JUST WANT THIS FUCKING SHIT TO END and I want to feel like I can have a full life rather than trying to play cleanup crew for a person who treats me this way. I never dislike myself more than I do when I'm around her, and I hate that pity for someone who is frankly a complete asshole even on the best day has kept me trapped in a situation where I always feel like I'm my worst, saddest, meanest self. I'm just so fucking over it and don't want the responsibility of holding someone's life together when it feels like all I've done and dealt with since I was a kid. So all of you mfers better send all of your pity feels my way because literally no one on planet earth has a more difficult life than I do!

1) Fusion reactors are possible and we would have them even in 60s if not cold war with all this shit. They’are also suer safe and produce minimun waste ( that I’m pretty sure you can repurpose like with fission reactors, we will see.) Litteraly that why ITER is being build ( and again we could have it in 80s, but ofc oil assholes and rich dont wanna this to happen so here we are) - to test everything properly and test stuff like lithium breeding etc

2) Also I dont think that fission reactors will go away entirely, simply bc we use those isotopes that we get from them in medicine and other branches. Plus this waste can be used a fuel again for different types of fission reactors! Idk about other countries, but in mine they still kept in safe places and wainting to be reused again as this project multiple chain fission reactors that will use this “waste” is in making rn.

The reason why I’m telling this is bc ppl hating or fearing nuclear energy, without fully understanding this. Sure, wind and solar energy are good and should be used, but they are not enough for big cities at all. 

Thats why fusion power is the best option, BUT we still have to wait a long time (like first test of ITER is planned in 2025, and it’s just a test reactor, not a proper fusion power plant) to even get there ( again thank you stupid rich and politicians who did anything to prevent us to have it), but the solution to CO2 polution is needed now!

So yeah, just my 2 cents bc I ufkcing saw the post about Musk trying flex on this and I’m just, fuck this guy, KEEP HIS DURTY RICH HANDS AWAY!

I’ve said before how annoying this fixation on neurobiological explanations for addiction, emotion, and behavior is to me.

But I’m beginning to think there is something fundamentally wrong or missing with these kinds of explanation.

Dopamine, reward pathways, evolutionary psychology. All of it seems so flawed.

I think its popularity is due to its ease of use. People have always been drawn to positivistic models of explanation. Its much more comforting or understandable to say, cocaine/cigarettes/social media gives you dopamine, so you become addicted, and you return again in ways that are damaging because its a neurobiological system turned against itself. Or, we evolved to care about other people, but our little primate brains aren’t equipped to deal with fast food, social media, meth. And of course, on some level, I’m sure this is all true.

But on another level, I think these explanations completely miss the ways in which we as humans from day 1 are entirely stripped of any recourse to the natural, biological. This is something Lacanians say again and again wrt to sex. The fundamental concept in psychoanalysis wrt to sex, is that human sexuality is never natural. 

Additionally, it misses the ways in which these addictive substances or behaviors kind of, maybe, correspond to structures in our psyche. (I’m not wording this well.) Like, the way we think, feel, act, has absolutely nothing to do with chemicals in our brain. 

Tangent: It just doesn’t quite make sense to me that dopamine (and serotonin if we want to get a little more nuanced (and add any other neurotransmitter if you want)) could ever be a satisfactory explanation for the incredible depth, irrationality, and insanity of human experience. Dopamine because you want to drink. Dopamine because you broke up with your boyfriend. Dopamine because you look at your phone on the bus. Dopamine because you feel a little lost without going to church on Sundays because there’s a pandemic. Lithium is one of the most effect psychiatric medications and has one of the most complication mechanisms of action. For most antipsychotics, we are not sure how they work, but we observe symptomatic improvement, so they must be doing something.

Do we even really KNOW what’s going on on neurotransmitter level inside the brain of an addict who craves a drink after 18 years of sobriety? And here, I really would like to read the actual research. Because right now, I’m only guessing that these people who go on and on about dopamine, et al. know that dopamine makes you “happy” and “rewards” or w/e so then we just naturally conclude that THIS is what must be happening.

I recently watched a video by ContraPoints on “transtrenders” and I think she put it really well. In respond to the “truscum” / “transmedicalist” idea that there are female and male brains, she says, yes, we observe differences in “female” and “male” brains. But these differences are so minimal, insconsistent, and varied that they’re almost meaningless. Besides, when you go in and say you’re trans and would like to try HRT or FFS, or anything, they don’t take a scan of your brain to make sure you’re not lying. We go off our lived experience, our phenomenological view of the world. 

Finally, it misses the ways in which social media, capitalism, etc. completely transform our everyday lives. It’s not just that scrolling through twitter is a pursuit of DoPaMiNe, or that we as human-animals seek connection and community, but that capitalism creates intense isolation, anxiety, alienation, depression.

Being discharged today just a fucking joke. The dr was like have you ever been here before. I’m like ummmm obviously never read my notes sweet. I said about wanting to go private but she didn’t think it was really a reason was like well what for? I’m like idk you’ve just said my overdose was really serious and would have been fatal if they hadn’t gotten me in time etc like just thought might be good to go for a week but lol nope.

Then they’re like we have to get your meds re Webster packed from our pharmacy to take out the lithium and stilnox I’m like why the stilnox ffs you haven’t given me any while here and they’re like oh it can be sedating after a big overdose. Like so can fucking seroquel but you’re happy for me to have thag. I’m like it’s the only thing that helps me sleep and I haven’t slept in days so thanks. Just so fuckkng done. I was feeling good but now I’m over this shit why did they fucking admit me at all except to torture me

I'd like to ask your opinion on something. I wanna start writing, but i dont know where i should put them. I prefer using Tumblr, but then i'd have to work a lot on maintaining the blog, but it'd look more organized and custom-made. As for AO3, i dont really use it, but i feel like i'd just be able to post a fic and leave it there without having to worry too much about it. What's your take on this? Do you have any preference?

hello there darling, first of all, welcome to the world of writing fanfiction for BTS (or other groups), I’m sure you have something written or drafted already and you’re just contemplating on which platform is the best? my opinion as a reader would be to post your works on as many platforms you want and can maintain despite your busy schedule, it guarantees more exposure for your works since some prefer reading on tumblr only or ao3 or wattpad or asianfanfics etc. plus it will reduce the chances of your stories getting plagiarized. 

now, between Tumblr and AO3, with Tumblr I enjoy seeing the writers headers/banners/moodboards it somehow helps set some sort of mood because I appreciate visuals tbh, also, we could always use the +read later/reading list feature on google chrome to read their works offline when I’m on the go, and here are some downsides of Tumblr, one, the “keep reading” feature, I hate that even if you’re certain you added it on your post it magically disappears (wtf Tumblr, go home, you’re drunk hasdgfjkhsa) two, the links get fucked up somehow, three, the tagging system isn’t the greatest and four, their algorithm is weird af. as for your works getting exposure and love here, it will take some time since you’re new, so I highly suggest you join networks for writers because they will share your stories which increases the chances of your works getting seen and read by their followers, and another good thing about tumblr is you can interact with your readers here, you receive feedback, some send direct messages and others talk with you thru asks (some anonymously because they get really shy)

AO3 is heaven-sent! though I have no idea how posting stuff there as a writer works or if there’s a huge difference with how you post on Tumblr (I’m assuming there’s a lot because AO3s tags are specific - at least those I’ve seen during my infinite trips on the site) I love scouting fics there, one, because there are so many amazing writers there that don’t have Tumblr, two, their filtering system is helpful especially if I’m looking for specific aus, genre, characters, kinks or if I prefer reading completed series on certain days, three, I prefer reading on my phone, I use lithium on my android and books on my iPhone, ao3 gives us an option to download the stories in the ff. formats azw3 (kindle), epub (nook, kobo, books and other electronic publication readers), mobi (mobipocket), pdf (portable document), html (hypertext, for browser reading) ~ btw, I always get the epub one, now why do I prefer it over reading via Tumblr? because the Tumblr app crashes especially if I’m reading monster one-shots/series plus I highlight and add notes when reading so I highly appreciate that feature from ao3.

now it’s all up to you in the end which platform you think would work best for you, your time, and schedule, btw I just noticed that ao3 has so many diverse stories and readers that are much more accepting especially with dark and taboo ones, as for feedbacks idk which site has more people that give their opinions to the writers, and on maintenance Tumblr does require more of it compared to ao3, so I guess that’s it? sorry if this was unnecessarily long I’m just a talkative one, I hope you make the right choice and enjoy writing for your faves! have a lovely day/night my dear! ❤️ | 🍒
