1. “ Roman!!” Y/n yelled running into his arms hugging him tightly as he caught her , earlier in the night while she was at home making dinner Jey called stating Stephanie got him arrested during the smack down taping under false accusations making her blood boil with anger. Ever since Roman turned heel becoming the tribal chief and creating the bloodline certain people have been trying take him down or destroy his accolades in & out the ring “ hey babygirl I’m okay I’m okay” he said softly soothing her worry’s knowing how worried she’d get about his safety sometimes.

As they get in the car once she got the paperwork as well bail taken care of he filled her in on the situation Stephanie wanted him,the twins and solo to pay for their actions against Sami zayn & Kevin Owens during royal rumble which upon further investigation that the two were forced to by the women or they’d be sent back to nxt. “ I’m fucking done!!!” He said seething with anger as y/n nodded letting him vent all of his anger out knowing he needed it “ okay love then quit always come to Aew with me I mean Jon’s way happier over there” she said looking over at him.

“ I’m with you baby let’s do it” he said interlocking his bigger hand with her smaller one heading home Stephanie say your prayers she thought smirking to herself.

A week later

Walking into the stadium hand & hand the tribal chief was ready to make a statement with his Nubian queen by his side “ go get yourself all dolled up sweetness gonna go over the plan with the boys” he said looking down at y/n squeezing her hip “ mm okay my chief” she purrs kissing Roman deeply before walking away.

“ what the hell !!! It’s the bloodline ohhh and they don’t look happy, well what do you expect Stephanie’s actions towards Roman Reigns * sami & Kevin join them * ohhh looks like they got back up!!!” Michael Cole and pat mcafee said watching them launch a sneak attack on the couple at one point Roman points to the ramp giving y/n the signal. Watching everyone go crazy while walking down the ramp to the ring she only had one goal make this woman pay “ oohhh and her comes the tribal goddess herself” Cole said with a hint of excitement the whole roster was ready to see the couples demise and we’re enjoying every minute.

Standing face to face with the evil woman who hurt her tribal chief y/n waisted no time pouncing on her attacking Stephanie with every thing she had the older woman was no match for her cheetah like moves “ hold them up!!! Both of them!!!” She screamed as the boys got them in position “ no are they?! Double spear !!! double spear !!! My god Hunter and Stephanie just got snapped in half!” Cole said as the crowd chanted you deserve it

“ nobody!!! Can take down the bloodline we run this shit!!! We’re done with this company I’m done with this bullshit everywhere I go or my tribe goes you acknowledge us !!! Cause we the ones!!!” Roman said growling loudly in the mic as everyone held their fingers up. He was done with wwe and to do it with his goddess it felt great standing tall.

2. Roman & y/n where hanging out with his 6yr daughter Joelle at their new home in L.A California located in Beverly Hills. The couple was happy to have some time off after battle of the belts ppv not minding the little girls presence since she’d taken a liking to y/n instantly after Roman divorced his nightmare of a ex fiancé , hearing the door bell Roman got up from the couch smiling softly watching his two favorite girls laughing and smiling “ oh great what are you doing here?” He groaned coming face to face with his ex.

“ you weren’t answering my calls Joelle left her snacks & blanket at my place last week” his ex replied slightly upset he didn’t really talk to her since the divorce only if something involved jojo his ex was a gold digging bitch breaking his trust once to many. “ well jojo has all the snacks and blankets she needs but extra wouldn’t hurt * grabs her blanket & Cheeto puffs* oh while you’re here Joelle will be living with us or parents from now on” he said making the woman gasp in sock

“What?!!! Why Joe I” the woman only could get out as Roman turned around snarling at the woman immediately shutting her up “ you will never get to call me that again got it? Secondly you missed the court date , hearings as well meetings with the lawyers multiple times and your mother vouched for me stating that Joelle deserved to be with me besides y/n has been way more of a mother to her than you” he said smirking as y/n appears next him with jojo in her arms.

“ everything okay here? Oh hi” y/n said smiling as Roman explained the situation she never liked his ex and it was time to put the woman in her place “ jojo bug can you cover your ears for me ? * the little girl nods doing as told* good girl” she smiles at the girls cuteness. “ I’ll only say this once and once only you lost bitch you don’t deserve shit from him or anyone with your leg spreading flat chested twink dollar tree having ass unless you’re making a billion dollars a year,own fifteen businesses, model the hottest brands or look half as good like me” steps a little closer “ then get the fuck away from my family understand? Good” she said smiling at the fear struck woman as Roman watched proudly if you thought Roman’s death glare was scary hers was 10x more terrifying.

Walking back inside the couple shared a sweet kiss “ me too!! I want one!!!” Joelle squeaked making them laugh attack the girl with kisses “ you’re so good to me sweetheart thank you for coming into my life and hers” he said kisses her forehead making the woman melt “ I’d like to say it’s the other way around but you’re welcome cause I wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else” she said touched by his words “ daddy!! Momma!! Can we make noodles and fried dumplings ? Oh please!” Joelle said smiling up at the two shocking them mostly y/n not wanting to push it letting Joelle get comfortable with the idea of being her new mom but the young child always saw y/n as her mother the first time they met .

“ uh - yeah of course darling but we gotta make sure you’re daddy doesn’t eat all the cookies we’re gonna make too” she said smirking at Roman as jojo hugged her tightly while on the inside she was buzzing with happiness as Roman did holding them close.

3. The wrestling it couple were tag teaming with her sister,Jon,Brandi and Cody against daddy magic,Anna,tay conti and Sammy after some off hand comments were made about the couple’s relationship.

“ ohhhh !!! God !!! Tay conti just got rocked!!” Taz comments as y/n super kicked her in the face before yanking into a deadly samoan drop doing a kip up as the crowd cheered “ let’s go!!!!” She screamed firing up the crowd turning around smirking pointing to Sammy mockingly blowing a kiss “ we run this bitch!!! Hoe!!!” She cackled licking her chops setting up for a Superman punch in honor of her husband which she perfectly executed before tagging her sister in.

“Come on baby!!! Roman cmon!!!” She shouted holding her hand out as her tribal chief tagged her in hopping over the ropes knocking down everyone on the opposite team before coming face to face with daddy magic yelling in her smiling like a psychopath slapping him not phased by the threats. She put him her finisher the cradle ( inverted ddt) “ and your winners the vagabonds and Roman Reigns,Jon moxley and Cody Rhodes!!!” They announced the crowd cheering as they all stood tall in victory.

Walking backstage they all were heading back to the locker room they heard Tay screaming about them cheating and so on down the hall “ kiss my ass bitch!!! Oh that’s right you don’t have one!!!” She smirked laughing twerking a little cause Roman to chuckle at her antics.

“ you are bad” he growled playfully against her ear before squeezing her plump bottom “ mmm but you like it though my tribal chief” she said looking up at him before getting brought into a steamy lip lock.

She was the whole package and all his nobody compares to his chocolate dipped goddess.

Team _WBY joke about Pyrrha being out of Jaune’s level (not Ruby since I can't picture her doing that). Too bad for them that they unleashed Savage Pyrrha and she destroys all three of them verbally. It is so bad that they apologize to Jaune.

"P-Money," Yang says with a snicker, "I mean, the nickname implies that ol' Jaune-O doesn't have a cent in his name." The brawler concludes with a chuckle.

Blake simply smiles, even giggling slightly as Weiss covers her lips with her hands to hide her amused smile. Pyrrha Nikos sat with the three members of Team RWBY, while Ruby was taking a long time getting some strawberries. The trio of young women was occupied making jokes, which turned into quips and puns about her beloved and how he was out of her league. The Champion's right brow twitched, as Blake begins to speak.

"Quite clever Yang," the Cat Faunus said, "seems you've actually read the joke book, while Jaune may read one of those dumb comics." This causes Yang and Weiss to laugh, while Pyrrha takes a deep breath.

"Hilarious from a fucking coward," the redhead said, causing the trio to cease their laughter. "who hid who she was don't get me started on your dating history."

"What?!" Blake replied, looking rather mortified at the Mistral girl's words.

"Should I mention your toxic as fuck ex," Pyrrha folds her arms over her bust, "or the impulsive, irresponsible stowaway you're crushing on?'"

"What the fuck, Pyrrha?!" Yang spoke up, "You didn't hafta go all bitch-mode on Blake!"

"Seems more tolerable than that bullshit you call humor," vivid emerald eyes move to the blonde brawler. "I suppose all your brains went into your fists and tits."

As Yang lets out a very dramatic gasp, Weiss stands up, opening her lips to rebuttal the Cereal Mascot. Then, Pyrrha turns her attention to the middle Schnee, squinting toward her.

"Do you really want to shit-talk me, Flatboard?" The white-haired Heiress bit her bottom lip, her eyebrows creasing. "I have a list, Weiss. I can talk about your height," the lieutenant of Team RWBY grimaced, "how people think you're a loli," Weiss proceeds to take a seat. "Oh, and don't get me started on how your very ironic pursuit of Neptune."

Jaune Arc gazed at Weiss, Blake, and Yang as they apologized to him. The swordsman scratches at the top of his blonde hair, while Pyrrha had a satisfied smile on her face.

Trying something a little different today.

Inspired by the incomparable @alchemicallymoon, I'm going to do a postmortem commentary on my latest fanfiction. If you haven't read "Stone-Cold Lovers" Chapter 3 on AO3, now's your chance!

I've done similar things in the past, with my Pre-Preparation of Shiver post for "Splatoon B-Mix," but I'm really testing the waters to make this a more regular occurrence — possibly even going back to older works. If you enjoy, let me know!

Alright. I can't think of any better place to begin talking about "Stone-Cold Lovers" than to mention it's a classic piece (in the era sense, though also in the literary sense). I started publishing fanfic in 2019, right around the time I was graduating from college. A bunch of pieces I wrote are still exclusively available on FanFiction.net, but I've slowly been transitioning them with a fresh coat of paint.

"Stone-Cold Lovers" was the sixth story I published on FanFiction. As I mentioned in Chapter 1 of the AO3 version, it came back to mind after Pokemon Masters EX introduced a Halloween alt for Roxanne.

Pokemon Crystal was my first "real" video game (not counting educational content like Sesame Street games), but Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire began my infatuation with the series. This was partially due to the fact that I could read the text on my own, which meant I could keep replaying to do little challenge runs.

Fun Fact: One of the most prominent challenge runs I can recall involved catching a full team of Wingull. I named the Pelipper of my team "Sergeant," and the rest had other army designations. I would later copy this idea using shiny Ambipom and Aipom in HeartGold and SoulSilver that I obtained through entirely legal means for a rare item Pickup group.

More Fun Fact: My favorite challenge run to this day is completing Pokemon FireRed with a single Clefable. I always really liked how many TMs a single Clefable could learn.

All of that is to say I seared Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald into my brain by playing it all the time on the schoolyard and at my grandparents' house in Florida. It remains my favorite region to this day. However, I didn't fall in love with Roxanne until the Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire character designs came out.

Important note: I have shipping charts for basically every character-heavy... Anything. Something about pairing people up always makes my brain go brr. My body of creative writing speaks to many of the headcanons I've whipped up over the years. Similarly, I have headcanons about which Pokemon protag serves as the "main character" or "rival" in each title.

Yes, you can ask about my opinions. I will undoubtedly answer.

Brendan and Roxanne came into this framework because as much as I also love Brendan and May, I quickly fell into the rabbit hole of Brendan Champion/May Contest Idol, and therefore I'm legally obligated to ship May and Lisia. My original FanFiction Author Note says I'd been thinking about the idea for "a while," but frankly I don't remember where exactly it originated. All I know is that my goal was May scolding Brendan for being an oblivious dope.

This is not autobiographical.

As far as I know.

My truest sense-memory regarding this piece is writing the Rustboro opening in a Barnes & Noble parking lot at night, on the same night that I scored a new freelance gig (it didn't last all too long in the end). However, I helpfully noted that the Brendan and May banter was inspired by a FanFiction story called "Critical Hit" by Alphinia (it's still live!) and Carly Chaikin's Darlene from Mr. Robot. That was ending in 2019. Pokemon Sword and Shield were about to come out. The timeline lines up.

It's also very funny to imagine May as a raunchy, tomboyish smartass who also happens to love the fame that comes with princess-y Pokemon Contest shenanigans. Good headcanon.

The seeds of an idea for a date follow-up existed back then. My first inkling was to do a scene where, essentially, Brendan fucks the whole thing up by using Sandstorm in the middle of a food court because he's trying to impress Roxanne. Most of the set dressing around that, such as using ORAS' Street Thug trainer class (here portrayed by Shio — after ramen to reference the naming scheme of every trainer in Mauville Food Court), came later.

Fun Fact (again): This is the first piece I've written using a new program called StimuWrite by Eve Harms, which was suggested by my beta reader. I liked being able to put my brain somewhere other than a blank white page, though all of the extra bells and whistles aren't all that necessary for me. Plus, I wound up jumping back-and-forth between the page and my 20 tabs of research anyway, so...

We'll see where this tool lands.

A lot of my decisions regarding the style of "Stone-Cold Lovers" Chapter 3 were based on concurrent reading; I recently joined a book club, and we just finished Babel by R.F. Kuang. My experience with Zine editors such as @kiliofdurinsline (Shrapnel) on Homemade in Hyrule (still available to pre-order!!!) helped me focus on creative writing structure and clarity rather than the more "vibes" based approach I leaned on. But Babel's rich descriptions suggested that I perhaps moved too far in the direction of snippets. So, here I tried to more robust scene-setting.

The bit about Gardevoir reading Brendan's emotions is being back on my bullshit trying to capture "vibes," though. I'm often a proponent for Psychic-types having full telepathy, especially Gardevoir given its canon emotional connections, but I decided the silent implications were more fun to play. I'm also a big proponent of leaning into the medium by using all of AO3's formatting HTML for things like Gardevoir's text. Hence my abundance of italics, or even the House of Leaves-style page falling apart for Arven's nightmare in "Paradiso."

Another note from Shrapnel that I took to heart: Give each character a stable of description types to help them emphasize their personality. That's why Gardevoir's movements use ballet terms (many of which I had to look up, like "bras bas").

One bit that I thought about a lot was Roxanne's response to weather talk. I knew that she should flirt by saying any weather would be great alongside Brendan, and the verbiage "would that it were" stuck. A bit of Googling revealed that the phrase doesn't mean what my brain thought it does — it actually refers to wanting a better reality than you currently have. But it rolls off the tongue... So, I decided to play with that disparity by having know-it-all Roxanne correct her old professor, even when recounting a heartfelt memory.

Also, I'd be lying to you if I said goofy teenager who can't speak French wasn't an integral part of my planning.

The battle scene is pretty straightforward, it was mostly fun to incorporate the idea of Brendan being over-leveled by having him immediately wipe the floor with this tough guy, Shio. This especially goes well with the Mauville Food Court gimmick of finishing your battles within set time limits. Hopefully little descriptors like the space-warping Boomburst help make up for how short it is.

But with all of that said, there's only one place left to go:

Roxanne's outfit

That's right! Brendan wears his contest attire, but Roxanne wears an entirely unique creation. I did something very similar to my experiments with Shiver by digging around Tumblr tags for specific outfit pieces to cobble together as part of Roxanne's preppy and academic wardrobe.

I essentially wanted to put Roxanne in an "elevated" version of her typical uniform. For example, something with a nicer blouse. When I saw this post by stiefel-rock-bluse, I knew it was the one. That ruffled 'V' is perfectly suited for comparisons to a fossilized ribcage.

Had to tuck that blouse into a nice skirt, too. I did toy with the idea of going full suit-style with slacks, but Roxanne feels like a skirt girl to me. So I settled on this pleated skirt shared by zoesrepository, at least in-part because I wanted a brown-and-white motif to reflect... Rock stuff.

Having exposed legs also introduced the opportunity to describe a bit of Roxanne's obsession with fossils. If I get callouses on my hands from doing ceramics, she can have some scuffs on her legs from digging in the dirt.

My inspiration for her off-the-shoulder draped jacket is largely me doing silly cape shenanigans with my jackets, but for the style I went with this cover image from an article by The Girl From Panama:

In brown, of course. That really emphasizes the idea that it looks like strata.

Because rocks.

Unrelated to rocks, I was originally toying with a different idea for her jacket, one based on this image of Kendall Jenner uploaded by disarmluna:

Ultimately I liked the draped idea better, but I kept on the idea of it being corduroy. Also, I took Roxanne's "loafers" from here.

For accessories, I riffed on one of my favorite pieces of lore introduced by Pokemon Masters EX: the idea that Steven Stone is in a club with all of the Rock-type experts who love collecting shiny rocks. Steven knows how to give some specialized gifts, and in this case I gave Roxanne a single earring, as shared by gemville, because 1) red; 2) flowers; and 3) stalactite. I went with one rather than a pair because I think it's a cute asymmetrical thing.

Then, of course, I imagine her nails alternate blue and red ala Nosepass/Probopass. Finally, Roxanne's elevated school uniform look had to retain a tie. What better way to keep that tie in place than with a clip inspired by the one, the only, our boy: Anorith.

If the Yanma inhaler from "Peaks and Caverns" is anything to go by, y'all know I love to invent kitschy merchandise that will unfortunately never be acknowledged by Game Freak/The Pokemon Company.

That's about all I've got. I'm not sure whether I'll return to this story again — the five-year pipe dream is already a big accomplishment in my book. But I'm really glad I finally closed the book on a longstanding idea in celebration of Valentine's Day! And I'm sure one day, if I can get through the rest of my insane backlog, I'd be happy to write further shenanigans between these two Hoenn lovebirds.

Do you think that Team RWBY are supposed to be chosen or extraordinary, destined to save the world, or are they meant to be ordinary people doing their best in extraordinary circumstances? I've gone back and forth on it myself and I think you can argue it either way.

I think it really depends at which point of RWBY story we are talking about.

If to believe the narration at the beginning and everything, I think the original vision is 110% "Next Generation of ordinary people doing their best" kind of set-up and the only "predestination" is Ozpin having some control over who gets in and who doesn't , essentially stacking this generation of students with as many of wild cards and special cases as possible. A former WF member, a Schnee heiress, a girl with silver eyes, a prodigy champion from Mistral, some dude who cheated his way in and so on - These students are there because Ozpin sees their potential and wants them there because he knows things might go real bad. I also have sneaking suspicion the original intent was him probably not having realized Ruby has silver eyes till he met her because Qrow, etc very likely hid that fact because of Summer, but once she was there, she was there. Beyond Ruby (where the show seems to imply Ozpin took specific interest in her due to her eyes and the songs pretty much imply that the eyes are intrinsically linked to whatever Ozpin's real deal is) while the rest of people that are at Beacon might have special circumstances, ultimately which paths they take is up to them. Its all about free will and the potential humanity has. V1 through V3 places a great deal of importance on personal choices - choosing what kind of person one can be, choosing which paths they want to walk, making mistakes and learning from them, etc. Multiple characters struggle with who they want to be and what paths they want to walk (ex: Jaune's arc is literally dealing with either giving in to toxicity or opposing it, Weiss is torn between her "legacy" and her kinder self, the BIG Decision Pyrrha has to make in V3, etc). V3 ends on all characters about to make important decisions of what they want to do next and logically seeing consequences of those decisions would have to follow.

Instead from V4 onwards it slowly morphs into a predestination kind of deal. Team RWBY are the chosen ones in a grand battle between Good and Evil - they are destined to appear in specific big events and play a deciding role there. Blake is destined to Solve The Racism because she's literally equivalent of a Faunus Princess, Weiss is destined to bring kindness to the Schnees and Atlas overall because she is literally a grand daughter of SANTA CLAUS, Silver Eyes is not merely a genetic trait, but something tied to literal Gods and so on. It starts subtextual and by V9 its just plain text that morphs into literal giant glowing sign what's with them literally being directed onto a mission by a Divine Higher Will.

#10) Shifty business - Gordon and Ruby suddenly meet an odd character. They're a shen, a shapeshifting water dragon who deals in odd trades... Oh no!

#11) Sea-Monkey King! PT.1 - Ruby meets Agatha former Nemesis.... The legendary Sea-Monkey King, Solar Wavekong! Who challenges Ruby to be the protector of Oceanside.

#12) Sea-Monkey King PT.2 - after losing against Solar Wavekong, Ruby decides to find a way to become the protector of Oceanside again! She seeks the help of... Umibozo!?

Oh my god, that name is so corny and I absolutely love it.

Off-Screen Event - Mare vs. Sidney

Big shout out to @darkpunkrocker for letting me use their nicknames for Sidney's Pokemon. Hope I did Sid justice.

The Elite 4, a collection of Hoenn’s top trainers. The final test before you face off against the Champion. And it was time for Mare to take this test.

First up on the list was Sidney, master of Dark Types. Mare always liked him. Granted, she liked all the Elite 4 but she liked Sid in particular. He was rough and tumble, just like her.

“So, kid, you finally decided to take on the Elite Four.” Sid said. He was crouched down like a gangster, tossing a pokeball in the air and catching it repeatedly.

“You bet!” Mare replied, grinning. “And I don’t plan on losing!”

Sid chuckled. “Well, we’ll see about that. You better give me a good match.”

“Don’t worry, I’m gonna come at you with everything I’ve got!” Mare shouted.

“Let’s get started, then.” Sid said, he nodded towards the previously unmentioned referee standing on the sidelines.

“The battle between Mare the Challenger and Sidney of the Elite Four is about to begin!” The referee announced. “Each side will have the use of 6 Pokemon and the battle will be over when either trainer’s Pokemon are unable to continue! Only the Challenger may substitute Pokemon! Each side is only allowed one healing item! Only the Challenger may use revives!”

“Alright, Kane, let’s do this!” Sid shouted, tossing the Pokeball he was holding into the air once more and releasing his Mightyena.

“Alright, Kaen, come on out!” Mare threw her Pokeball, releasing Kaen the Blazekin. It only seemed right that she lead with him, he was her first ever Pokemon after all. Mare adopted the same fighting stance as him. “You ready?”

“When am I not?” Kaen replied, though any outside observer would just hear Pokemon noises.

“Battle begin!” The referee called out.

“Kane! Crunch!” Sid called out.

“Dodge and use Sky Uppercut!” Mare called.

The Kane rushed forward, mouth glowing(?) with black energy. Swiftly, Kaen dodged to the side and the Kane’s jaws clamped down on nothing but air. Kaen then followed up with a Sky Uppercut, sending the Kane flying into the air. Simultaneously, Mare mimicked Kaen’s actions.

“Nice move.” Sid said. “But it’ll take more than type advantages to beat us. Take Down!”

Kane recovered midair and sped towards Kaen, engulfed in energy. Despite having superior speed, Kaen wasn’t able to dodge in time and was hit straight on. Normal type moves did neutral damage against Blaziken, but Kane was powerful and still knocked Kaen backwards. There was an upside in that Kane also took recoil damage from the move.

“Who said I need a type advantage!” Mare said confidently. “Flare Blitz!”

“Take Down again!” Sid shouted.

The two Pokemon rushed at each other, each engulfed in the element of their respective type (for as much as Normal could be called an element). They collided, kicking up a cloud of dust (how they did this was unknown, the floor was made of tile). When the dust settled it revealed that Kaen was still standing, if a bit battered, and Kane had fainted. Sid recalled him.

“You did good.” He said to the Pokeball.

“You still feeling up for battle?” Mare asked Kaen.

“Course I am, boss!” Kaen said confidently. “I’m gonna see this through to the bitter end!”

“Jeez, you make it sound like you’re gonna die.” Mare said.

“I might.” Kaen replied.

“You really won’t.” Mare said deadpan.

“Ya might wanna stand back for this next one!” He called to Mare, taking out another Pokeball.

He nodded to the ref again. Dramatically, the ref pulled a lever next to him and the floor split open revealing a pool. Kaen leaped backwards before he fell in. Rocks rose from the pool, providing platforms for land-based Pokemon to stand on.

“Come on out, Deluge!” Sid called, releasing his Sharpedo into the water.

Mare cursed. This was fantastic. If your definition of “fantastic” was “horrible news for you in every way.”

“Don’t worry, boss, I still got this!” Kaen proclaimed, hopping onto one of the rocks.

“If you say so.” Mare said, unable to keep doubt from slipping into her voice. “Let’s do this! Brave Bird!”

“Aqua Jet!” Sid shouted.

Kaen leaped into the air. Wings made of fire manifested themselves. He sped towards the Sharpedo, who dived down into the pool and then leaped out, cloaked in water. Deluge collided with Kaen and knocked him out of the air and into one of the rocks.

“Now use Crunch!” Sid shouted.

Delugeleaped out of the water and bit down on Kaen. It wasn’t very effective, but it still did just enough damage to KO the Blaziken. Mare recalled Kaen as Deluge leaped back into the pool.

“Get a good rest.” She said. “I’ll say “I told you so” later.”

Mare reattached the Pokeball to her belt. She took another one out.

“Kusanagi! Your turn!” She shouted, tossing the Pokeball into the air and releasing her Doublade. She knew she was at a type disadvantage but Kusanagi’s ability to float above the pool instead of being confined to just the land was valuable. She really needed a water type.

“Crunch again!” Sid shouted.

“Sacred Sword!” Mare shouted.

Deluge leaped out of the water ready to chomp on the sword. Unfortunately for him, Kusanagi was able to land the Sacred Sword before he could hit. Mare had to admit, while standing on the sidelines felt weird in general, standing on the sidelines while Kusanagi fought felt even weirder. When the two of them were in battle they had a much more direct connection than any of her other Pokemon, even Kyoshi. They had too as sword and wielder. If the two weren’t in perfect sync the battle was already lost. Ah well, mimicking Kusanagi’s actions as she battled was the next best thing.

“Now, again!” Mare shouted.

“Dive!” Sid called out.

Deluge did as instructed, leaving Kusanagi slashing at air.

“Aqua Jet!” Sid called.

“Block it with Protect!” Mare shouted.

Kusanagi crossed their blades and a barrier made of hexagons forms. Deluge’s Aqua Jet rammed straight into it and bounced off.

“Sacred Sword one more time!” Mare shouted.

Before Deluge could return to the water, Kusanagi unleashed a slash. Deluge was down for the count. Sid quickly returned Deluge to his ball.

“Nice job.” He said to the Pokeball.

The referee pulled the lever again and the rocks sank back into the pool. The pool closed up, returning the battlefield to normal.

“Not bad kid.” Sid said. “But we’re a long way from finished.”

He grabbed another Pokeball and tossed it in the air before catching it and then proceeding to throw it for real. “You’re up next, Cena!” Out of the ball came his Shiftry.

Damn. Now she really wished Kaen hadn’t been taken out. He would have made this battle easy. But she wasn’t sure she wanted to use her one Max Revive just yet. Kusanagi was still a pretty good option, though. He was quick and knew two moves that were super effective.

“Alright, Kusanagi, Sacred Sword!” Mare shouted.

“Getting a bit predictable there, kid.” Sid said. “Leaf Blade!”

The two Pokemon rushed at each other. The leaves on Cena’s arm expanded and changed shape into a glowing green blade. The two clashed, engaging in an epic sword duel. At this point, neither Pokemon needed direction from their trainer. They were guided by pure instinct and skill.

Neither seemed to be able to break the other’s defenses. Kusanagi seemed to sense that it shouldn’t let Cena get too close. Unfortunately, while it was an expert swordfighter, literally being a sword and all, even it was capable of making mistakes. He dropped his guard at the worst possible moment and let Cena to get in close, allowing him to get off a Feint Attack. This wasn’t looking good.

“Alright, Cena, finish em off with Leaf Blade once again!” Sid shouted.

Mare’s mind raced. There was only one option. “Counter with Aerial Ace!”

The two blades struck each other, locking them into a fierce clash. Each Pokemon pushed against each other, trying to break past the other’s defense. The blade lock couldn’t last forever, though, and at the exact same time, they slashed through each other’s defenses.

There was a tense moment, where both stood (or floated in Kusanagi’s case) completely still like in a Samurai movie. And then, Cena collapsed, fainted. Sid returned Cena to his Pokeball.

“You kicked some real ass out there.” He said. “Get a good rest.” He put Cena’s Pokeball away and took out another one. “You’re doing good, kid, but lets see how you stack up against my next Pokemon. He’s a real Ace in the Hole!”

He threw the Pokeball and out came… King? His Absol? Why would he use his Ace now. When Mare fought the gym leaders they always used their Ace last. Maybe the E4 was different. No, something still felt off.

She closed her eyes, letting the Aura flow through her. Through her Aura Vision she could see that this was not King the Absol but Batista the Zoroark.

Mare grabbed Kusanagi’s Pokeball off her belt and held it out, returning the Doublade too her Pokeball. She reattached the ball to her belt and grabbed another one.

“Your turn, Kyoshi!” She called out, tossing the Pokeball.

Sid chuckled. “Heh. I should have known you’d see through our gambit. Shadow Claw!”

“Bone Rush!” Mare shouted. In perfect sync, she and Kyoshi both summoned a bone staff made of aura energy.

Batista as King rushed forward, illusionary claws elongated into Shadow Claws. He swiped at Kyoshi but before he could land a hit was knocked backwards by Kyoshi’s bone staff, breaking the illusion. Batista’s true form was revealed.

“Extreme Speed!” Mare shouted.

“Flamethrower!” Sid shouted.

Kyoshi rushed forward but wasn’t able to close the distance before Batista unleashed a torrent of flame from his mouth. Huh, so that’s how Zoroark used Flamethrower. It made sense but Mare had kinda been expecting him to unleash the fire from his paws.

Kyoshi was engulfed by the flame. When the flame subsided, Kyoshi still stood but had taken heavy damage. Looked like they’d have trouble getting close. Ranged it was.

“Aura Sphere!” Mare shouted.

“Shadow Claw!” Sid shouted.

Kyoshi fired off several Aura Spheres, which Batista cut in half or blocked with his Shadow Claw. Don’t ask how that works, it looks cool.

Unfortunately for Batista but fortunately for Kyoshi, he couldn’t block every Aura Sphere. Eventually one hit, knocking him backwards.

“You’ve got us on the defensive.” Sidney said. “But we haven’t shown all our cards just yet.”

Suddenly, Batista disappeared, bending light around himself to become almost invisible. A keen eyed observer, however, would notice a shimmer in the air, like when you look at a fire and the air gets all wavy. Kyoshi certainly was a keen eyed observer, particularly with her Aura Vision.

Batista darted around the battlefield, eventually sneaking up behind Kyoshi and preparing to use Shadow Claw. This proved to be for naught, however, as Kyoshi whirled around and slammed her paw into Batista’s gut then followed up with Close Combat, unleashing a flurry of attacks ending with an uppercut.

The move sent Batista flying. The Zoroark was now down for the count. Or up for the count, since the attack had launched him into the air. When he hit the ground, Sid returned him to his Pokeball.

“Good going.” He said to the ball before returning it too his belt and taking out another one.

“Don’t think this is over just yet.” He said. “We do our best work when the chips are down. Sheik, come on out!” He tossed the ball in the air releasing his Mandibuzz, Sheik.

A flying Pokemon. Great. And all of Mare’s Pokemon were landbound. Even Kusanagi could only fly so high, and not nearly high enough to be on the same level as a Mandibuzz.

However, Mare had actually planned for this. While she and her Pokemon usually relied on their all out strength and speed, she wasn’t that bad at strategizing either. She knew Sid had a Mandibuzz so just in case she’d bought a particular TM just for this occasion.

“You did great, Kyoshi, but you’re at a real disadvantage here.” Mare said. “You’re gonna need to swap out if we wanna win this.” Kyoshi nodded and Mare returned her to her ball. She took out another ball and threw it releasing Kamu the Raticate. “Kamu, come on out!”

“So this is the new guy, eh?” Sid said. “Let’s see what he’s got. Sheik, Bone Rush!”

Sheik summoned bones made of energy and rained them down on the battlefield. Kamu managed to dodge several of the bones but wasn’t nearly as fast as Mare’s other Pokemon so took quite a few of the bones head on.

“You good!” Mare shouted to Kamu. He nodded in confirmation.

“Good.” Mare said. “Then it’s time to unleash our secret weapon! Thunder Wave!” This was the TM she had bought.

Kamu crackled with electricity, causing his fur to stand on end, and then fired off rings of electricity at Sheik. The rings surrounded the Mandibuzz like a cage and then collapsed in on her. Electricity crackled around her and she fell from the sky, indicating that she was paralyzed.

“Not bad, kid.” Sid said. “You came prepared.”

Not prepared enough, unfortunately, as Mare realized Kamu had no other moves that weren’t normal or dark type. She growled to herself. She knew she should have bought that Thunderbolt TM. Oh well, at least with Normal she wouldn’t be at a disadvantage either.

“Super Fang!” Mare shouted. Kamu’s fangs grew to enormous size, almost unsettlingly so, and had no trouble landing the hit because of Sheik’s paralysis. The move always took off half a Pokemon’s HP, the unit of measurement denoting a Pokemon’s health in battle. Mare wasn’t sure how they calculated it but it seemed like a solid enough system. “Follow up with Double Edge!”

Kamu made to bodyslam Sheik but just then the Mandibuzz managed to recover from her paralysis. She blasted upwards, avoiding the attack. Unfortunately, Kamu still took damage from using Double Edge and was a bit dazed.

“That was quick.” Mare said.

“Cheri Berry held in her mouth.” Sidney explained. “She was able to move just enough to chow down. A lot of Challengers try the Paralysis trick. Gotta be prepared.”

“Makes sense.” Mare said, shrugging.

“Alright! Brave Bird!” Sid shouted. Sheik dived towards the dazed Kamu.

“Come on, Kamu, you’re strong! I know you can recover!” Mare shouted. “Use Double Edge!”

Mare’s words struck a chord with Kamu. Like with all of Mare’s Pokemon, the two shared a unique bond. Mare had opened the door to his heart, after all. He shook off his daze and launched himself at Sheik. The two collided, creating a large midair explosion and knocking both of them across the room and too the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. When the dust cleared, it revealed the two Pokemon were still standing. They hadn’t been able to do enough damage to knock each other out… but the recoil damage from their own moves certainly had. Simultaneously, they both collapsed.

The two powerful trainers recalled their fainted Pokemon. This was it. It had been a long and hard fought battle but Mare was sure it was almost over.

“So, this is it.” Sid said, chuckling. He pulled out a Pokeball and tossed it in the air before catching it. “I’m down to one last Pokemon. I see that glint in your eyes, you’re pretty confident. But don’t think you’ve won just yet. We’ve got one more Ace up our sleeve.”

Sidney tossed the Pokeball and released King, the real King. Around his neck was a necklace embedded with what was undoubtedly a Mega Stone. The E4 had Mega Evolution? This was news to Mare. But it also made sense. Of course Steven would give them out to four of the strongest trainers in the region.

“Alright King!” Sid shouted, placing his middle and index fingers over a lapel pin similar too Steven’s but more punk, a keystone. He then held out his fist in front of him as the Keystone and Absolite glowed in unison. “Mega Evolve!”

King was encased in a shell of energy emblazoned with the Mega Evolution symbol. Then the shell shattered apart, releasing a wave of energy and revealing King, now a Mega Absol with gorgeous wings.

Mare laughed. “Oh this is gonna be fun!”

She took a Pokeball off her belt. She reached into her bag and took out a Max Revive. She opened a slot in the Pokeball and dropped the Max Revive into it. The Pokeball glowed yellow and played the healing item sound. Mare held the Pokeball close to her chest and then wound up before throwing it, releasing Kaen back onto the battlefield.

“Kaen, time to get back into the fray!” She shouted.

“Alright!” Kaen shouted. “I knew it wasn’t over for me just yet!”

Mare held up her forearm and tapped the Keystone in her Mega Ring. She thrust her arm into the air as the Keystone and Blazikenite on Kaen’s leg band glowed simultaneously.

“Kaen! Mega Evolve!” She shouted.

Just like with King, Kaen was surrounded by a shell of energy which cracked apart, releasing a wave of energy and revealing Kaen had become Mega Blaziken.

“Prepare yourself!” Mare shouted. “Cause things are about to really heat up!”

“We can take the heat! Ain’t that right, King!” Sidney said confidently.

King made what was clearly an affirmative noise. Unbeknownst to Sidney, he was saying “Damn Straight!”

“Blaze Kick!” Mare shouted.

“Psycho Cut!” Sid shouted at the same time.

Kaen leaped into the air and dived towards King, leg outstretched and engulfed in flame. At the same time, King leaped to meet him, horn glowing with psychic energy. Kaen’s kick impacted with King’s horn. Time seemed to stand still for just a moment. Then, Kaen unleashed a flurry of Blaze Kicks, all of which King blocked with Psycho Cut.

Kaen couldn’t keep this up forever, though. Every Psycho Cut caused Kaen to struggle to keep it up more and more. The final straw came when Kind unleashed one final Psycho Cut, bigger than all the others, that knocked Kaen away. Luckily, Kaen managed to recover and stick a three point landing.

“You okay, Kaen?” Mare asked.

“Never better!” Kaen confirmed. If Blaziken could grin he would be doing it.

“Alright then, use Brave Bird!” Mare shouted.

“King! Aerial Ace!” Sidney shouted.

Kaen summoned wings of fire and sped towards King. The wings on Mega Absol were next to useless but they were enough to allow King to utilize Aerial Ace. Come to think of it, Mare had to wonder how he would use Aerial Ace if he wasn’t Mega Evolved.

The two Pokemon collided, both doing serious damage. Kaen took more damage because of Brave Bird’s recoil damage. Despite this, both Pokemon were still in the fight.

“Sky Uppercut!” Mare shouted.

Kaen complied, delivering a hearty uppercut that sent King into the air.

“Aerial Ace!” Sidney shouted.

“Follow up with Brave Bird again!” Mare shouted.

The two Pokemon collided once again, bouncing off each other like billiard balls. They did this several times until they found themselves on opposite ends of the field, breathing heavily. They were both heavily damaged. It looked like whoever landed the next attack would be the winner.

“Alright, Kaen, are you ready for one final move!” Mare shouted.

“You bet!” Kaen shouted back.

“Then use Flare Blitz!” Mare shouted.

“King! Psycho Cut!” Sid shouted.

Both Pokemon charged forward for perhaps the final time. Kaen wreathed in flames and King with his horn glowing with psychic energy. They collided and caused a massive explosion of fire and psychic power. When the smoke cleared it revealed King lying on the ground, unconscious, and Kaen still standing, albeit battered and bruised. King’s Mega Evolution wore off and he returned to his original form.

“King is unable to battle!” The announcer declared. “The victory goes to Mare Birch and Kaen!”

“Yes!” Mare shouted, pumping her fist in the air. “We did it!”

She ran over to Kaen and gave him a big hug. Though, considering her height, it wasn’t really that big.

“You did it!” She shouted.

Kaen attempted a triumphant laugh. It came out as more of a wheeze. “Yeah, I did! I think… I think I’m gonna take a nap now.” With that he passed out, reverting to his normal form.

Mare took out Kaen’s Pokeball and returned him too it. “Get a good rest.”

Sid returned King to his Pokeball. He walked over to Mare.

“Nice going, kid.” He said. “You really put my skills to the test.”

“Thanks Sid.” Mare said, grinning. “You did real well yourself. Fiercest battle I’ve had in a long time.”

Sid chuckled. “Well I hope you’re prepared cause there’s some even fiercer battles up ahead. The rest of the League ain’t no pushovers.”

“Trust me, I’m looking forward too it.” Mare said, holding out her hand.

Sid took Mare’s hand and shook it. “As fiery as ever, kid. Get out there and kick some ass.”

hiiii yarn <33333 ummm so twirls my hair at the end of the ruby and sapphire arc basically maxie and archie become irreversibly destructive and power hungry because of them fusing with the orbs and they kinda destroy the world so bad both steven and norman die horrifically and the way its reversed is that ruby pulls the ultimate deus ex machina and reveals he had celebi with him the whole time and reverses time to before the champion and his dad died. also also. normans last words are basically that his death was Ruby's fault. that it was his SONS FAULT THAT HE DIED. sorry i hate pokespe norman so much he is literally worse than every villain combined but thats a topic for another day. anyway yeah both norman and steven canonically died in pokespe! (☞ﾟヮﾟ)☞

Let’s Talk About Jade

I love THAT bitch to the ends of the earth. She’s a bonafied money printing superstar and a megastar in the making.

BUT what the hell are we doing with her, and half the women’s roster for that matter?

Her streak is at what, 54(?) now, just stop it. It should have ended at 50, it’ll never be caught again for probably the rest of AEW’s history.

It’s done more harm now for EVERYONE involved. It’s hurt, the TBS championship, Jade herself, Nyla Rose, Skye Blue, Red Velvet, Ruby Soho (even though she’s finally clawing something back), Athena, Diamante, Kiera Hogan and Anna Jay.

The TBS title has become redundant. Jade barely features on television, and when she does she doesn’t say or do much - next to no screentime for literally the most dominant champion in all of wrestling outside of Roman Reigns!? What the fuck is going on here!?

Next to no storylines, apart from someone is unhappy with Jade so they challenge her and she batters them, wooptiedoo!!

Granted they kinda tried something with Nyla stealing her title that one time but guess what, they had one match and Nyla got battered, wooptiedoo!!

So......what do we do?

Let me take you back to when Awesome Kong was the Knockouts Champion. Undefeated, couldn’t be touched, literally no other woman on her physical level. But she lost her title after some shenanigans involving Velvet Sky tying her hair to the ropes stopping her from retaining her title. Now I’m not for a single second AEW go down as silly a route as TNA did, but literally Jade needs to lose the TBS title to some shenanigans and move onto Dynamite full-time with a full-time storyline that has her in the Women’s Title picture, if not challenging for it, if not winning it, but at least being involved in a long-term story, which I have for you now.

And it involves:

A little lady by the name of Ruby Soho.

This is written before Revolution, but they have been teasing for the longest time this idea of “ex-WWE vs AEW born and bred” and I think it could work amazingly, it’s been done to death before with many men in many promotions (NWO, Aces & 8′s, Bullet Club) but never to that extent with women.

Regardless of who wins the Women’s Title at Revolution, I think it would be VERY smart to have Ruby turn on Jamie and team with Toni and Saraya. Works both ways actually, Jamie retains after Ruby gets so close and she snaps, Ruby wins after accepting some help from the side by Saraya with the story being it was all for her all along. Either way regardless, I think they 3 should become a team, hijack Rampage (again works whether Ruby does or doesn’t have the Women’s Title, probably better if she doesn’t) and shenanigan their way to beating Jade taking her TBS Title away (works both ways in that either Ruby gets the TBS or she gets the Women’s and Toni gets the TBS). This then forces Jade to try and take back her title by hunting the 3 ladies down across Dynamite but getting beat by the numbers game everytime. And further down the line, Jade teams up with Jamie and Britt to beat the ex-WWE birds, and then either uses that to challenge one of the ex-WWE birds for the title OR better yet, Jamie for her still retained title. If we go down the line of Ruby having the Women’s Title, you can make the case for a 3-way between Ruby, Jade and Jamie. If Jamie still has her title and Ruby has the TBS, you could still have a 3-way with the stipulation being if either champion gets pinned they lose their title and if Jade is pinned both champions retain. So there’s also a 3-way incentive all round:

Become a double champ? Save your own reign by double-teaming Jade? Which championship does Jade go for?

I always always always say this about wrestling, storylines write themselves, it’s not hard to book these things that involve many people and keep them all looking good and strong. You could make this storyline last 6 months if you wanted to. That length of storytelling you’d get your hand bitten off to have that in your wrestling promotion.

And it’s what I think needs to be done with Jade and the TBS Title cause they’re both drowning it mediocrity right now.
