A trippy poetic dream, a finding and loss of self, to exist in between. A metaphor for the psyche’s inability to choose anything other than what it has been made to believe. The incomprehensibility of believing in anything that has not been thought of before or mandated by the benefactor. I’ll remember this book fondly. What a tragic world without imagination all succumbed to abide by the Machine. It actually draws out themes and a world similar to a story I’m working on right now. The protagonist is one part aggravating and intoxicatingly juvenile in spite of having 32 years under his belt, and the other part endearing, a child learning what can be possible.
The book reminded me quite a bit of 1984 even though this came first so if anything, Orwell took a page or a few from this one. One of my favorites. I’ll be recommending this one. Long live I-330.
Veronica Roth’s Poster Girl is set ten years after the fall of the dystopian regime known as The Delegation. The book follows Sonya Kanter, former Delegation poster girl, who has spent the last decade in prison with other Delegation loyalists. Sonya is offered a deal; find a missing girl in exchange for her freedom. Sonya’s quest unearths new disturbing information on the Delegation, her life prior to the uprising and the new regime, The Triumvirate. These revelations change Sonya forever. This book is a really interesting and unique spin on the dystopian sci-fi genre. It’s also a fable on how technology and information can be corrupted and weaponized in the wrong hands. I love everything Veronica Roth writes and I can’t to see what she comes up with next! 👱🏻👁️📷 #postergirl #veronicaroth #sonyakantor #alexanderprice #dystopianscifi #scifi #read #reading #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer https://www.instagram.com/p/CmPEh7puaZO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

IN PRAISE OF "DREDD" -- EASILY ONE OF THE KOOLEST SCI-FI/ACTION/COMIC BOOK MOVIES EVER MADE.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on film stills to the 2012 sci-fi/action film "DREDD," based on the "2000 AD" British comic strip "Judge Dredd" and directed by Pete Travis with a screenplay by Alex Garland. The film was a notable box office disappointment, but is now lauded as a cult classic in the sci-fi/action/comic book movie genre.
[first lines]
"America is an irradiated wasteland. Within it lies a city. Outside the boundary walls, a desert. A cursed earth. Inside the walls, a cursed city, stretching from Boston to Washington D.C. An unbroken concrete landscape. 800 million people living in the ruin of the old world and the mega structures of the new one. Mega blocks. Mega highways. Mega City One. Convulsing. Choking. Breaking under its own weight. Citizens in fear of the street. The gun. The gang. Only one thing fighting for order in the chaos: the men and women of the Hall of Justice. Juries. Executioners. Judges."

In my exclusive interview with "Scorpion" writer Christian Cantrell, he explains how this time travel sci-fi thriller got its start many years and far fewer words ago.
