Dragontale Gaster design

Hey guys, Dragon8er here!

I finally went and designed Dragontale Gaster.

For no reason at all other than just to design him.

Definitely. :3

Also here's actually the designing process I took for him.

As you can see, I went through a few different angles before eventually settling on what I have now.

Oh and here's a better look at his hands, too.

This design is still pretty early so it's subject to change, but I actually quite like it. So I think it'll stay, at least for now.

Some quick lore for ya for right now is that the scarf he wears actually belongs to Sans. Gaster actually helped Papyrus and taught him to make his scarf and one for Sans. And then when Gaster got. Gastered. He accidentally took Sans's scarf with him, and now keeps it to not only remember Sans, but also to help himself remember who he is.

Been thinking of developing a sort of inspired sort of my AU lately. I'm aware there's multiple dragon AU's but this is literally where every monster is instead a dragon. The Underground is instead an interconnected cave system beneath a small cluster of mountains, the different monsters are different types of dragons:

Aka the skelebros are literally skeletal dragons with Blaster skulls, the dogs of Snowdin are feather winged wolf dragons with frost breath (the details of the breath are subject to change) and, say, Undyne? Literally a sort of asian dragon. No wings, magical orb for an eye lets her fly.

I've been sort of developing this quietly for a while and I'm thinking of actually finalizing this. I realized that after working on designs for a royal Froggit, a whimsun and migosp. Yes, the migosp is pretty much a giant beetle with a tail, but that's not so important.

What does anyone who sees this think?

First piece for 2024, Dragon Tales!

Made in Sai/Csp (8 hours)

I challenged myself to draw all of the line art with the crayon tool in Sai. It was a bit tough, especially when it came to selecting a small portion of random pieces with the magic wand tool…I made it work though.

I was 10 when this show aired in 99…and now I’m 34 and I still watch it for the nostalgia. My first drawing of this was made in 2016, so I redrew it 8 years later.

Dragontale Gaster for Year of the Dragon

Hey guys, Dragon8er here!

IT'S THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON, BABY!!

And to celebrate, I immediately went overboard and made this comlicated-ass drawing of Dragontale Gaster for my first drawing of the year and the first drawing out of my art break. :)

So, needless to say, that was a GREAT idea. As indicated by the fact that I have been working on this on-and-off since the literal beginning of the year.

sigh

Why do I do this to myself.

Oh well, at least it looks awesome! At least, I think it does.

Oh, and lore time!

In Dragontale, the Gaster Blasters actually come from Gaster. They grow out of him. Sans and Papyrus can still use them because they're still connected to Gaster even while he's outside of time and space.

So yee.

Just got home from a big multifamily yard sale! Wasn’t as good a haul as last year’s, but still got some neat things 😊

Chromecast, still sealed: $5

All the Pokemon stuff (not pictured: Japanese Marnie card that’s inside her tin) - $2

Puss in Boots: $0.50

Giant Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon: $1

Miniature doll house cabinet: $4

I can’t remember her name. the electric gym leader on it #and didn’t even say anything or charge me for it #he did say he has way too many tins 🤣 #and he had a ton of deck boxes too #one thing I was bummed about was that he said he’d had a Build a Bear Bulbasaur but it sold before the official start time of the sale 😭 #I went to his table FIRST but I didn’t wanna be pushy before they were even set up #and so apparently I lost out 🤦 oh well #got no room for a plushie that big anyway tbh #very very nearly came home with that Cassie Dragontales but she had Suspicious Brown Smear Stains 🥴
