Nobunaga her Archer and Avenger versions from FGO with an S/O who was her master in a previous grail war who she meets again at Chaldea and he's become a rare modern day heroic spirit and a strong one at that.

I had a blast writing this, not to mention it helped to scratch the itch I had for the best war criminal.

NOW THEN! YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND!

“Heh, looks like you still have a bad habit of not expecting things to get in close to you. Then again… you are an archer, so I guess it can’t be helped.” a familiar voice muttered behind Nobu.

“It couldn’t be…” Nobu thought to herself in shock.

Then, the cuts ignited, engulfing the corrupted servant in a pillar of blood red flames.

“So… you became a heroic spirit didn’t you?” Nobu asked without even turning to face you, her fists clenched tight.

“Of course, after all, we both left quite a few things left unsaid to one another the last time we were together didn’t we?” You responded quietly, the same sword at Nobu’s side in your own hand.

“You know that's not what I meant.” Nobu muttered through gritted teeth.

“I know, but the how can be saved for later.” You told the archer servant quietly as you returned your blade to its sheath.

The atmosphere was tense as the group returned to Chaldea with Nobu glaring daggers at the newly summoned saber servant who held the same sword as her in their hands.

In an effort to break the ice, Guda decided to ask a question.

“Soooo… Saber, mind introducing yourself to the class?”

“Apologies Master, but only one person will ever get to know my true name, and she is rather greedy with it.” You responded as you walked beside the woman glaring daggers at you.

“Really? Mind if I ask who?” Mash innocently requested.

“I don’t think that's my place to say, but you probably know her, she has a wonderful larger than life personality that can get her into quite a bit of trouble which she’ll easily brush off, not to mention, she is quite attractive, and looks quite fetching in her uniform.” You responded cheerily, leaving a certain archer flabbergasted and, if one looked closely, blushing ever so slightly.

After that, You and Nobu were inseparable and yet… no one knew why.

Nobu sitting directly next to you during lunch, as she drank tea, or addressed her retainers.

You sat directly next to her… any time she was sitting down.

It got to the point that, in lieu of your true name, you had been designated as “The Saber Of The Demon King”.

And it was a name Nobu had taken quite a liking to.

She was a rather possessive person after all.

And you being known by that name? It made her all giddy inside.

Now, if only they knew just who you were to her, that would make your name even better for her.

Still, she was going to wait to drop that bombshell, after all, she doubted that it would be good to give so many people a heart attack from shock.

Not to mention, she still had to figure out just what you were to her as well.

Master, comrade, partner, companion, and even… lover.

These were all words she could use to describe you and yet… none of them truly fit what the two of you were, falling short by the distance of entire planets.

Oh well, the both of you had plenty of time to figure out just what the two of you were to one another.

After all, she was Oda Nobunaga, Demon King Of The Sixth Heaven, it can’t be helped that things tended to get a bit complicated when she was involved!

The flames of Honnoji engulfed her enemies in pillars of flames, burning them to less than ash in an instant.

Yet, she was not the one who burned them.

That honor belonged to her counterpart, a recently summoned Ruler who could always be found standing at the Demon King's side like a loyal blade.

No one knew exactly where this servant came from, there was no record of them in the stores of Chaldea and the Ruler refused to share their name, saying that a rather fiery conqueror had already taken sole ownership of it with a look of affection on their face that had caused a certain Avenger to chuckle with a similar look on her own.

There were theories of course, most of them centering around the two of you.

Some were reasonable like you being an existence similar to that of Nobukatsu except you were the flames of her noble phantasm made manifest.

Others were… not as reasonable, like the one that claimed you and her were Master and Servant from a grail war or something else that would require a summoning or that would allow an Avenger to properly incarnate in the real world even if only through sheer luck.

Alas… neither of you would ever give a straight answer, merely deflecting every question asked.

Nonetheless, if anyone was ever looking for one of you, they simply had to find the other part of the duo and low and behold that is where the person they were looking for would be.

Simply put, the two of you were inseparable.

And something told everyone in Chaldea both of you would have it no other way.

THE DEMON KING’S MIXED SIGNALS

     Something I really like about Avenger is their soulless but vaguely threatening and oddly seductive manner of talking. It’s easy to think that their words have a romantic undertone and that they’ve a real and ardent sentiment fo the person they’re talking to but, in reality, their tone is quite monotone and often seems like they’re not really there. They also like doing this not so cool thing where they remind you of who they are and how great they are, how minuscule your existence is but that they saw something in ‘you’ that others can’t and how important ‘you’ are to them. Essentially, the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven has chosen ‘you’ ( and not anyone else, just ‘you’, no one is as special as ‘you’ ) as their most valued and esteemed retainer so how are you going to show that you’re worthy of their trust and affection?

     In other words, they can hit you with the most intense phrases and implications as the words come naturally to them, but there’s also a clear dissonance between what they say, how they say it and what they actually meant. Some examples ahead:

BOND 5:

[ I am the Demon King Nobunaga, who’s been reborn by transcending the Heaven of Pleasure and became the enemy of gods and Buddha and all living beings. And so, just what kind of person are you? I am not asking for your name, I’m talking about your innermost nature. No, directly inquiring is unneeded. Your existence really amuses me and angers me. That’s surely how humans are. Fufu, so be it, live as you please and die as you wish. This Demon King of the Sixth Heaven, Oda Nobunaga, will be watching. ]

     This is the Demon King’s last bond line and, by this point, it’s when the master and the servant are the closest after doing countless missions together and being through life or death situations. But Nobunaga starts here by reminding you, their esteemed retainer, of who they are and making a clear division. The two of you belong to completely different worlds and will never be equals or anything like that. They could easily eliminate but you amuse them and so they’re willing to accompany in your journey and see how far you can go. They’re not here to save the world, but to witness your death. Nobunaga may be foreshadowing chaldea’s master’s inevitable fate and telling you that they’re just going to stand there and watch you fail and fall to your doom for their own pure amusement... Or maybe this is their unique way of confessing their affection for their vassal and telling them that they intend to spend the rest of their vassal’s mortal life watching over them… Maybe it’s both?

DIALOGUE 3:

[ Servant and Master, huh. Normally, something like employing me would be the height of disrespect and insolence. I would decapitate you immediately, but if you weren’t around, it would be impossible for me to materialize, so it can not be helped. …What was that thing called? …Aah, that’s right, it was “win-win”. Win-win. Uhahahahahahaha, win-win. ]

     Once again you’ve to love how calmly the Demon King make these casual reminders that they could kill you if you do anything that displeases them so it’s better to remember your place and not get too familiar with them. But, interestingly enough, when they say this, they don’t sound remotely angry or even annoyed, they are just stating it as a fact... And then they ‘suddenly remember’ that they actually need you, chaldea’s master, to stay materialized in this realm. But they’re also honestly amused and entertained at the fact that they can’t kill the chaldea’s master, their vassal, just because they feel like it, probably because they’re so used to having complete over the lives of others so knowing that they can’t kill this one human without facing severe repercussions is amusing. It’s a ‘win-win’ situation... because the Demon King can’t kill you on whim. Is that really win-win? Also let’s not overlook how Nobunaga is showing the most emotion and laughing while saying ‘win-win’ because they can’t kill you on a whim... rather than when they’re saying that, in any other situation, they would’ve already beheaded you for your ‘insolence’.

BIRTHDAY WISHES:

[ So it is the day you were born. Hmm, I feel like tea utensils wouldn’t cut it after all we’ve been through. That’s right, I know, just tell me what you wish for. Uhahahahaha, there is no need to hesitate, while there’s nothing I wouldn’t plunder, I’m also willing to give you anything you wish for. ]

     Stop playing people’s hearts, Demon King... I think I already said all that needed to be said about Nobunaga’s romantic and 'passionate’ speech and how they like to make their people feel so very special so let’s put that aside for the time being and focus on something else. Because... this how Nobunaga talks to chaldea’s master because they see the mage as their one and only retainer because, despite how strong other heroic spirits summoned to chaldea are, they’re just servants, pieces in a game of chess where chaldea’s master is the king... and Nobunaga is the player. But this simplistic way of putting their own agenda to work wasn’t available while they lived. Nobunaga had a lot of retainers over the years and you can bet that, at one point in time, they treated and talked to their retainers in a similar way they do to chaldea’s master. Obviously, they didn’t have the time (nor the intention) to treat everyone equally. If you weren’t making merits and giving Nobunaga a reason to take you into consideration and ‘truly see you’, then why should they even bother looking your way? But that didn’t mean that doing everything right would earn you the daimyō’s attention. Some were more useful the more the more Nobunaga ignored them while others weren’t. Nobunaga has a myriad of ways to make people love and yearn for their recognition so it’s not surprising that everyone in their closest environment is affected by madness, is a berserker, or both.

Disgusting. However, was that not to be expected of the Demon King of Sixth Heaven? The one who had used their own children, their own family as tools towards bigger and better things? He could still recall how Nobunaga had used his sister, Oichi, uncaring of how anguished she was upon seeing her husband killed on the battlefield. To him, she had been a tool to keep that clan under watch just as much as they too were just pieces on a board to be discarded just as easily. Six blades were soon placed back into their sheathes once the battle was over, but his single, piercing gaze did look elsewhere but at the demon in the distance. ❝Tch, tasteless.❞ Never would Masamune ever look upon his followers nor his retainers as mere fodder to the flame. Just the very thought made him want to run the other through.

     He didn’t take his blades out, though.

     As difficult as that was, he stayed his hand if only because of the promise he made to the Master about not attacking allies. ❝No idea why your brother is even loyal to you. I would have skewered you on the battlefield a long time ago.❞ Family or not. He’d deem Nobunaga too dangerous to keep around just as the other retainers of the former Oda had felt the same for many reasons. Too bad none of their scheming amounted to anything, however. His hand came to rest upon the hilt of one of his blades, so tempted to draw one as fingers brushed along the outline. Temper, temper...

Kipposhi has... complicated feelings on divinity and heroic spirits from the Age of Gods.

They don’t have any personal dislike for these things, but. Oda Nobunaga is the King of Innovation, the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven. As a Heroic Spirit, they personify the Age of Man in a very important way.

As the King of Innovation, their motto “Tenka Fubu,” the creed that propelled their conquests from the start, drives them to keep pushing forward into the future, away from mystics and prayer. In a world where power is determined through force of arms, there’s no need for temples or gods. Furthermore, through innovation, the old world is something to be left behind. Out with the old, in with the new, as they say. And older Heroic Spirits are just that, the old. In a sense, Kipposhi can’t help but look on ancient hero kings, holy swords and cursed spears in the same way one looks at an antique; a dusty, old forgotten thing, best left in the attic. Not that they would really say as much, that’s just rude.

But as Papiyas? The Demon King of the Sixth Heaven? Avenger is, as ever, the enemy of all gods and buddhas, the one who ended the Age of Gods in Japan. As the one who wields the flames that scorched the Heavens, the power to burn even the Buddha to ash, Kipposhi finds themself driven by the need to challenge the gods themselves. To further establish the Age of Man by establishing mankind as having surpassed the Heavens. So while they may have no personal quarrel with the Pharaohs, divine spirit servants, or anything along those lines, the very nature of their Spirit Origin drives them to remain at odds with them regardless.

Of course, unlike Maou or Kaiser Nobunaga, who have no qualms about wielding their power as they see fit, being the murderous monsters they are, Kipposhi still works to maintain the image of “The Great Fool of Owari.” So rather than going in guns blazing, they settle for the part of the fool, the prankster. Verbal jabs are better than a costly duel that would leave everyone worse for wear.

- Avenger is a very classy lady, she enjoys more expensive tastes, any potential partner should be aware of this. 

- She is very much in control, sure she might have a few slip ups and goofy moments but she is different from her Archer form, a lot more serious. 

- It’s likely that if she finds someone attractive then she will flirt with them. 

- Nobunaga has no sense of shame, she would show as much affection as she wants to in public, kissing, hugging, holding, etc. 

- She is very protective of her loved one, even the slightly scrape will get her attention. After all they are the lover of the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven, they deserve to be respected.

     Avenger ( Demon King Nobunaga ) can’t feel nor experience physical pleasure like humans and other living creatures do, which includes sexual pleasure. But that doesn’t mean that they’re unable to feel sexual attraction nor means that they have got no desire to engage in activities of sexual nature with others. It would seem logical for them to have no interest in sex altogether, especially considering how little effort they put in appearing less intimidating and how willing they’re to eliminate any sort of inconvenience, but that’s a far cry from the truth.

     During their life, Nobunaga had many, many, many concubines + other lovers (most of them were women but the truth is that as long they’re beautiful and can keep their mouth shut in case they’re annoying, Nobunaga doesn’t discriminate) so, regardless of how many variations there have been to their core, some things just never seem to change...

     While it doesn’t hold any emotional value for Demon King nor they give it as much importance as others do, sex is a great source of entertainment for them and a good chance to see new and amusing sides of the persons they’re interested in. Truth is that, alongside slaughtering those who stand in their way, bringing their ‘lovers’ to the heights of pleasure is one of their favorite pastimes and greatest sources of satisfaction. Perhaps it’s because they’re used to it or because of their need to be in control of others, they’re not sure which is it nor care... But there’s something about using pleasure (and sometimes pain) to slowly break someone and take them apart, to push that person to their limits, until they’re begging for more or to stop, to make their lover forget of shame and pride, and to know that all of it is because of them. It’s something they could never get enough of.

     While they can attempt to flirt and sweet talk to a lover of theirs, most of the time they would only do that to persuade said lover into trying something new or simply because they want to fluster said lover and see their reaction. Otherwise, they’re awfully straightforward with their desires. If a new idea crosses their mind and they want to try it out, then be sure that they will voice it and, if their current lover has doubts on the matter, they will do their best to persuade their lover to agree with what they want. And, unless their lovers use a safe word to stop, then they’re just not stopping.

     Nobunaga has an ever-growing amount of personalities in them, all of them with their own fun lists, ideas and things they want to try out on their lovers so... On one hand, sex with Nobunaga is never boring. But, on the other hand, good fucking luck because you’ll need it.

     You would think that Avenger would be the ‘selfless’ type considering their circumstances, but they are awfully greedy. They don’t do things for their lovers’ enjoyment (at least that’s not the true purpose behind their actions), they do it for themselves, because they want to see or try something new and they take what they want from others. It’s up to the other person if their interests align with theirs or not.

     On the same note, they really aren’t the cuddly type after sex and will never be unless it’s explicitly requested of them. They do aftercare but not because they actually give a damn about the other person. They just do it because they know it’s something that is expected from them and it’ll give more trouble than good if they decide not to. For them, aftercare mostly consists of talking to their lover, helping them patch up in case they harmed too much, and taking care of cleaning up. Just make sure that their lover is good to go (though they would never actually ask the other person to leave). On rare occasions, they will do one ( 1 ) extra thing and maybe bring breakfast or a gift or something.

     What the fuck is intimacy? The hell is empathy? Clearly, these aren’t topics Demon King has ever heard of.

     Needless to say but Demon King is a very ( extremely! ) dominant partner. They like and expect their partners to submit to them and will never relinquish control to anyone. Them letting another take control is just never going to happen and that’s simply non-negotiable for them. That’s mostly because they like being in control of their lovers. But also because they literally are unable to derive any kind of pleasure from being touched in any manner so being at the mercy of anyone would just be a boring and odd situation for them.

     Much different from how they usually behave, Demon King can be awfully patient when it comes to sex. They give commands, sit back, and patiently watch their partner struggle, writhe and go near desperation. Something they like to do is to pretend they’re ignoring their lover until said lover starts begging, an action they find intensely endearing. I mean... they’re the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven, it really isn’t surprising that they’re a sadist.

     Another unsurprising fact is that Nobunaga isn’t vanilla at all and could get into dangerous stuff just get a new reaction of their lovers. Sensation or impact play, bondage, blindfolds & sensory deprivation, orgasm control & denial, bloodplay, and the list goes on and on. As long as Avenger has some level of control over their lover and they get to try something new on them, they’re into it. Finally, it’s a given that Demon King would rough up their lovers a bit too much and leave plenty of marks on them. They aren’t exactly possessive but if they and their lover were alone, then Avenger would ask them to show them their work or caress the spot where they know they inflicted a wound on their lover.

     I want to say that they aren’t into public anything but, then again, Demon King a huge fan of risque situations and simply cares so little so... if given permission, they would take things outside the bedroom. A big fucking mistake because Nobunaga really wouldn’t care if their lover is seen by others or if anyone else notices what’s happening. What do they actually care about? ‘Should I use this toy or that one on _______? Should I go to 3 or 5 when ________ greets that one guy? How can I make this more difficult for ______? So many decisions...’ 

     Anyway, becoming Demon King’s lover or friend/acquaintance with benefits means you’re gonna get pegged and much, much more and that’s just the way it is.

     In other words, proceed with extreme caution or stay the hell away from Demon King.

Who or what exactly is Avenger

    Short answer: Avenger Nobunaga is all of the possible variations Oda Nobunaga from past, present, future, variations from completely different universes and even variations of themselves that never existed in history. All of them are gathered in a human-shaped flame that is both the manifestation of Nobunaga’s beliefs and the resentment, fear, and reverence towards them. While most Avenger-class servants are founded from their own resentment and wish for vengeance, Nobunaga is an Avenger because of the resentment and wish for vengeance from others that suffered because of the demon king that, ironically, ended up being reborn as the demon king of the sixth heaven.

    Long answer: Avenger Nobunaga is many things in the literal sense of the word. They’re the amalgamation of all of the Oda Nobunaga that existed through time, space, alternate universes, etc. Such a thing wouldn’t be possible for someone whose core is that of a human. And that’s why Avenger ceased to be human and is ultimately reborn as a hollow existence, a ‘human-shaped flame’ that is the true Demon King. And yes, I also mean that in the literal sense of the word: They are fire, and so a really unstable servant.

    Technically, Avenger could materialize as any of the Oda Nobunaga that have ever existed, exist and have yet to exist. But that many changes in a heroic spirit would require unnecessary amounts of mana, which would be dangerous for Chaldea’s resources and make the Avenger even more unstable than what they already are. They have limited themselves to only 4 main variations but that doesn’t mean that the other ever-growing versions of Nobunaga don’t play an important role in them. They’re there, with their respective memories, thoughts and opinions on how they should act or react. But, going back to the 4 main variations:

    1st Variation • Oda Nobunaga: This is the ‘Oda Nobunaga’ that resembles the (Archer) Nobunaga the most. But that is only in appearance and some bits of her personality because Oda Nobunaga is losing her sense of self. She’s ceasing to be ‘human’ thanks to the many versions of Nobunaga that are adding up in the same heroic spirit. As you can imagine, having an infinite number of different personalities in your head is a real pain, but it isn’t something Oda Nobunaga will ever talk about. Karma is a bitch and Nobunaga knows that better than anyone else, but how she faces her cursed existence is just: ‘Hahaha! It couldn’t be helped!’

     2nd Variation • Oda Kipposhi: Kipposhi is the ‘Oda Nobunaga’ that encapsulates his time as the Fool of Owari the most and was one of the most critical parts of his life. It might be implied that Kipposhi is the youngest of all the versions of Nobunaga. He’s a passionate guy, filled with energy and excited about war. He’s the ‘soldier of fortune’ that Nobunaga was during the start of his military career. In comparison to the other ones, Kipposhi should be the most optimistic one but that’s not necessarily the case here.

     3rd Variation • Oda ‘The Great Unifier’ Nobunaga: “All the world, by force of arms.” The daimyō is the ‘Oda Nobunaga’ that represents his time during his Consolidation of Power, his ‘best days’ before eventually being betrayed and killed. But, besides his military conquests, he developed and heavily relied on his political skills and power of persuasion to make alliances with other clans. He’s most political, duty-driven and ‘calm’ of all variations of Nobunaga, a strategist and daimyō that will lead armies to victory. But he also is the most cruel, selfish and absurd out of all of the possible variations of Nobunaga.

      4th Variation: Demon King / Pāpīyas / Mahajun / Maō: To keep it simple, Maō isn’t even human in nature. Maō is a hollow and faint existence, the manifestation of Nobunaga’s belief that the possibilities of mankind (their lives, merits, and future) should belong to the humans instead of their gods, and that gods’ shouldn’t be relied upon. But that manifestation ended up being a human-shaped flame that is a literal god-killer and the true Demon King of the Sixth Heaven. They’re the Nobunaga that is furthest away from the ‘truth’ and closest to the abyss. They’re cruel and harsh to all living creatures and have a fixation with killing all divinities, but that kind of behavior isn’t because they hate gods. It’s simply their nature and reason to exist.

    Because Demon King Nobunaga’s existence is hollow and the closest one to the abyss, their mere presence is aberrant, an unnatural phenomenon, as they simply shouldn’t exist. They aren’t evil and don’t hold any kind of personal grudge against anyone, but their core was built on the resentment, suffering and fear of the innocent souls that perished during their time. This sensation of ‘wrongness’ extends to all other versions of Nobunaga and that’s why they all end up being consumed by the Demon King.

1. Shirou Emiya / EMIYA / Nameless Archer - Fun fact my favorite part of Fate/Stay Night was rereading Fate and Unlimited Blade Works after finding out his identity and identifying where he was blatantly lying about not remembering his human life. His story is at once so beautiful and sad, no matter what route happens to Shirou the boy will undergo some absolutely hellish nightmare in the grail war or after, like the gods toying with a soul they find too kind to be real. I’m glad FGO puts him with a good master who actually does embody the heroic ideal he carried without the neurosis that nearly destroyed him; a master who shows that his young self already had a foot in the right path. Guda is a hero to the world through their kindness and humanity, all things Shirou already had.

2. James Moriarty - The Napoleon of crime, the grandfather of criminal masterminds, and one of the most infamous villains in western literature, Moriarty being a servant was... a huge surprise. That he would look this cool was an even bigger surprise. That even he, once the most despised fictional character in Europe for murdering Sherlock Holmes (y’know, before the angry fans had it retconned), could find a home and friends and even family in Chaldea, was the best surprise. Also he has a gun coffin. Fuck yeah.

3. Oda Nobunaga - The Demon King of the Sixth Heaven was the strangest choice for Type-Moon to make as 1/2 of their comedy mascot duo, but it worked. Somehow. Nobu and Okita are hilarious, living proof the gays have taken over and really it was probably for the better. Although Nobu only appears sparingly due to her and Okita’s trait of infesting whatever story they appear in with GUDAGUDA humor, each time is a treasured memory. Also the two of them somehow beat back a Demon God inside the Temple of Time, despite its immunity to bullets and Okita’s tuberculosis. I can only imagine they had Nobu pick Okita up by her legs and start swinging her at the demon like a baseball bat.

1. Salieri - IT’S NOT A MONSTER FETISH I SWEAR I just want to hold those big... bloody claws... Ride his back into battle as he savages a hapless victim’s face...

2. Gorgon - Ok it’s a monster fetish. I want a 200 foot tall kaiju wife I can ride into battle. DON’T KINKSHAME ME. Also it’s Medusa, who is one of my favorite Type-Moon characters.

3. Jeanne Alter - I think she’s very cute and a big chuuni. A dork. A dingaling. A wingnut. A knucklehead mcspazatron. Although what really made me decide to like her was the first Christmas event where it was revealed that she spent time studying how to read or write (since Jeanne herself is illiterate), and wrote a chicken scratch letter to Santa because she felt all alone out in the cold. It was a cheap shot at tugging my heart strings but damnit it worked.
