Lilo & Stitch

Dream Starkid Jangle Ball Tour: Villain Song Setlist
So, I'm super excited about the Jangle Ball. Even if they don't play where I am, I'm just so happy they're going to tour again after all these years!
I've been randomly pondering what my dream set list for the 'Villain Song" section of the tour would be. If digital tickets are released and I see they have completely different songs, then that's totally awesome and pretty likely! I'd enjoy it a wild amount either way. This is just a little fun thing for me to think about and basically, me listing y personal favourite Starkid villain songs.
I tried to include mostly villain songs, but some are a stretch, some are Starkid tour classics and some are songs I just really want to see a live version of. I know they've said in livestreams that any song can be twisted (ha!) into a villain song, and they want to perform some songs in ways that they haven't been performed before, maybe with different performers than the originals. And they said they wanted to change up the set list a bit for different locations. That sounds very fun! And yep, my list is far too long for half a concert but I can't control myself.
My Dream Jangle Ball Setlist:
Twisted - Twisted
Let it Out - TGWDLM
Do you want to play? - Black Friday
The Web I Spin for You - NMT1
Into the Night - Firebringer
Different as Can Be - AVPM (Omg if AJ sang for Voldemort I would be so happy because all I want in life is an AJ Holmes and Brian Rosenthal duet)
Tumblr media
Axe Man - NMT2
Not Your Seed - TGWDLM
Change in the Climate - Firebringer
Virginity Rocks - NMT2
Tumblr media
Listen to Your Heart - MAMD (If the choice rested in my hands, I would list every MAMD song for this tour. Every single one xD)
Tumblr media
Join Us (And Die) - TGWDLM (I cannot stress how important it is that this song goes right before Kick it Up a Notch! I need Jaime to belt "It's time to diiiiiiiiie" at the beginning and I need "all you gotta do is-" to transition straight into 'Kick it Up a Notch'. It is essential to everyone's well-being that this happens!!)
Kick it Up a Notch - Starship
Rogues Are We - HMB
Granger Danger - AVPM
Guys Like Potter - AVPS (If Tyler Brunsman doesn't join the cast, then Brian Rosenthal as Lucius and if Joe Moses doesn't join, then Brian Holden for Snape!)
The Way I Do - Starship
Tumblr media
Wagon on Fire - TTO
Tumblr media
Missing You - AVPM (I'm guessing it's unlikely Darren will join them (but you never know!), so James for Harry!)
Wizard of the Year (Gilderoy) - AVPSY
Big T's Temptation - MAMD (please, it's all I've wanted since birth. No one will ever understand how much I love Big T and this song *cries*)
Tumblr media
It's Not Over Yet - AVPS (If Tyler Brunsman doesn't reprise the role, then Brian Holden as Lucius!)
Tumblr media
Going Back to Hogwarts - AVPM (The Villain is the old, majestic owl who lost my letter to Starkid's Hogwarts, gave it to that infamous Hogwarts Jaguar, who, with his soft adorable paws that he trips over when he's running too fast, took out a knife and put it in the shredder all those years ago. That rat bastard!)
Tumblr media
What would be your dream Jangle Ball Tour 'Villain Song' setlist? If you can twist it into a villain song, then pretty much any song is fair game!

Much needed win as North End overcome Terriers
A very much needed win for Ryan Lowe and for North End as the Lilywhites ran out 3-1 winners at the John Smiths Stadium against Huddersfield Town. Goal form Alan Browne, Will Keane and Ben Whiteman saw North End home against a very mediocre home side. It was a much improved performance from the boys even though we did fall into the trap of sitting back for the first twenty minutes of the second half. An early strike from Browne set the tone and when Keane made it two North End looked in complete control of the game. After the break we sat back a little inviting the hosts on and sure enough they pulled a goal back but it was not enough as a Ben Whiteman strike was enough to give North End all three points and send the travelling 1,176 hope much happier than of late.
North End made two changes from the side that drew at Norwich on Saturday with Will Keane and Duane Holmes coming in for Andrew Hughes and Ali McCann. North End set off like they really meant business and had two penalty shouts in the opening minutes of the game but with three minutes on the clock Holmes put a beautiful left foot cross in an the Skipper header home into the far corner. Browne and Whiteman had good chances as Millar caused mayhem down the Preston left. With just under ten minutes to the break Millar set off on a run down the left and played a superb ball right into the path of Keane and the striker made no mistake slotting the ball through the legs of Chris Maxwell. It was no more than North End deserved and they went in at the break having played the best half of football for some considerable time.
No changes for North End at the break but a triple substitution from Darren Moore as he tried to get his side back in the game. North End reverted into their containing mode at the start of the second half but were soon undone as Ward headed home to put the home side back into the game. Huddersfield pressed North End but midway through the second half North End put the game to bed. A ball from the left was laid off by Holmes for Whiteman and the North End number four shot past Maxwell from the edge of the box and from that point on the game never looked in danger. North End really should have gone on to win the game by a few more goals but we couldn`t convert anything late in the game and registered a very comfortable victory and a much needed boost for all involved at the club.
So North End gain the much needed win after just one point from the previous twelve on offer. It has to be said that the hosts didn`t offer a lot on the night but North End attacked like we know they can in the first half and it was so refreshing to see. It buys some time for the manager after the pressure was building and I think we would have all taken four points from the two away games at Norwich and Huddersfield. Job done this week then but I so wish we would play to our strengths every week which means attacking football and a positive attitude. I guess some positivity has returned after this weeks results but the manager needs a decent win, or at least performance, at home to Watford on Saturday to build on the good work done on the road. A much better performance but still plenty of room for improvement.

YEAH, BUT NOT RIGHT NOW by A.J. Holmes to be Presented at SoHo Playhouse
In this original show of songs, stories, and stand-up, A.J. will attempt to win your affection the only way he knows how...by putting on a musical.
———
Emmy and Golden Globe Awards-winner Darren Criss agrees: "A.J. has never ceased to make me feel like I suck at so, so many things. His talent has always made me simultaneously frustrated at my own inabilities as well as totally inspired to get my s#@t together. So, f#@k you, A.J. Holmes. You're incredible."

Personal Thoughts:
When one first hears of a comedic musical about pubescent high schoolers and their singing penises and vaginas, one does not think, “Wow, what a sophisticated concept that dissects the relationship between gender roles and sexual identity in modern day society,” but that’s what StarKid Productions’ Me and My Dick is truly about. At first, having the main character’s genitalia being completely separate but complementary entities to the teenagers at the center of the storyline seems jarring and like it was only done for comedic purposes, but the longer and more complicated the plot gets, the more obvious it seems to be. The main character, Joey Richter and his relationship with his Dick is a very compelling one. Throughout the musical, Joey struggles with coming to terms with his sexuality as a teenage boy. At the beginning, Joey himself reflects the average stereotype of the sex-obsessed male teenager whose primary interest is getting laid rather than achieving emotional fulfillment. Later, when his Dick becomes interested in his neighbor Sally’s Miss Cooter, Joey and his Dick have a fight about what that attraction means for their relationship and eventually separate, before eventually coming back together once Joey develops a relationship with his Heart. Joey himself is his own entity, with his own thoughts, feelings, and goals, and his struggles with his Dick and his Heart represent very real internal struggles that many teenagers, and especially teenage boys, have with themselves, their sexuality, and their personal emotions.
Joey’s Dick, as well as the other character’s sexual organs, represent the subconscious sexual identities of each character. For Joey, his sexual identity cannot be fully realized or appreciated by himself because he has not fully matured as a sexual being. Unlike Sally, Joey does not realize that in order to achieve sexual fulfillment, he needs to not only be physically attracted to someone, but also experience an emotional connection with someone, which is something that Dick AKA his sexual subconscious realizes before Joey and even his Heart do. This journey is the perfect example of the dangers of a sex-oriented society, and how that kind of society damages the well-being of maturing men and women. In Western society, the ideal sexually mature man is defined by his sexual prowess and dominance. If he can have sex with a bunch of hot women and not worry about how emotionally in-tune he is with himself and his personal relationships, then he is the ideal man. Society teaches men (and women) from a very young age that a man’s defining trait is his sexual attitude towards others.
The ideal sexually mature woman, on the other hand, is represented by the character Tiffany, who is arguably the most sympathetic character in the musical. Through the perspective of her vagina, lovingly referred to as The Old Snatch (aptly named as Tiffany’s sexuality represents the general mistreatment of women’s sexual selves in society), we see that Tiffany is the unfortunate byproduct of such a male dominant sexually oriented culture. The only time Tiffany has ever experienced true sexual fulfillment was during her first time having sex with an unnamed male character she was in love with. However, it was later revealed that this character used Tiffany only for his own sexual enjoyment and did not truly love her, intensely hurting Tiffany’s feelings and resulting in her being used to getting treated as a sexual object whose existence is only beneficial for men’s pleasure rather than her own emotional and sexual fulfillment.
Another, more subtle, detail that emphasizes this theme is Sally’s opening section in “Ready to Go.” While singing, Sally already knows that she has a crush on Joey, but her low self-esteem and worries about her own attractiveness lead her to become sexually repressed, to the point where her vagina, Miss Cooter, has to ‘fall in love’ with Joey’s Dick in order to Sally to realize that she not only experiences, but truly desires having sex with Joey.
What I love about the representation of the character’s and their respective sexual organs is that they are tethered to one another through some kind of leash-type object that allows for the penis or vagina character to be connected to their person but freely move around and act as their own character without them. While this is beneficial for the actors and entertaining for the audience to see these beings take on a life of their own, it also compliments the theme of sexual identity and maturity very well. By choosing to have penises and vaginas tethered to, but not completely physically attached to their teenage counterparts, it communicates to the audience that the sexual identity the genitalia represents in of course a very important factor of the person’s life and individuality, but ultimately not the be-all, end-all of who a person truly is. While Dick, Miss Cooter, Old Snatch, and other characters go through their own journey, the most important development is the ones that their human attachments experience. The sexuality of the character is an integral part of who the character is and how they navigate their life, but in the end, the most important thing is that the human characters go through their own development in which their sexuality compliments, but never dick-tates (sorry, I had to).
The ultimate take away from Me and My Dick is that in order to be a fully realized individual, one has to recognize and accept all parts of themselves, instead of just focusing on their physical sexual selves and ignoring their personal feelings, or overemphasizing their emotional feelings while ignoring their physical, sexual needs.
“[Dick] is a part of you like I am, Joey. You need him and Sally needs him” - Joey’s Heart <3
“We gotta start thinking of love and sex as a team effort. We can’t just pine over a girl we can’t get or be in a constant pursuit of sex. We need to listen to each other because that’s the only way it can work out” -Joey Richter

Protip: It’s all in the details of the article- READ the entire piece before using it as evidence of your fantasy
The “newbie” ccer is taking well to her new position and seems to have read the cc handbook thoroughly. She’s using confirmation bias like a champ, basing her belief on the all-important “something seems off when I look at pictures of Darren and Mia” hence they must be fake and ignoring important details in articles that sound like they prove cc tropes are real but upon actually reading them, they fall far short or even prove their tropes are made up lies. Today she posted a 3-year old piece from Huffpo Canada about an E show called The Arrangement which told the thinly-veiled story of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes marriage. A few years after the Tom Cruise-Nicole Kidman divorce, Scientology leader David Miscavige decided Tom needed a wife and “auditioned” several Scientology-approved women before landing on Katie. They had a whirlwind romance that played out across the world and married soon afterward. Tom had a Scientology handler-his sister- with him at all times during this process. Tabloids had long speculated on this and Leah Remini’s Scientology documentary series confirmed it. The wedding was basically arranged and fake on some level but that wasn't because of anyone in Hollywood. It was because David Miscavige is a ruthless leader of the “church”. He runs the organization like a mob boss. If you haven't watched Leah’s show I highly recommend it. It’s hard to believe the shit that goes down but after dozens of people tell very similar stories you begin to realize it’s a very scary cult run by an evil man who doesn’t care who he hurts or tortures as long as he maintains power and brings in millions of dollars. People literally have to escape in the middle of the night and many are caught by teams whose job it is to chase down escapees.
The article is HERE (X).
awesome-fanfictionada Here’s a great informative article about faux-weddings and faux-mances. I so wish they had auditioned like for Cathy Holmes. Or that it only had lasted 12 days.
But anyway, I know I have to trust my guts cause that day T/om C/ruise went to jump on O/prah’s couch I knew that something was fake. As I do now. (Funny how I had completely erased TC’s fake marriage, maybe cause I really dislike him).
Everyone’s whatthefuck-’meter went off when Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah’s couch.
The article says:
The concept of the Hollywood contract relationship, otherwise known as a “fauxmance” or “promance,” dates back to the studio system of the early 20th century. Actor Rock Hudson’s 1955 marriage to secretary Phyllis Gates was famously arranged by the actor’s agent, Henry Wilson, in an effort to hide Hudson’s sexual orientation from the public. Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn had audiences convinced of their love both on- and off-screen, but a 2012 memoir by Hollywood fixer Scotty Bowers claims their 26-year relationship was a decoy to distract from the same-sex relationships they both reportedly enjoyed.
But it goes on to say:
Today, while Hollywood has become a friendlier place to openly queer actors, it’s possible there are relationships that are arranged to conceal a star’s true sexual orientation; however, it’s far more plausible that a fauxmance might be concocted to promote a shared project or raise a couple’s collective profile.
It’s more likely a fauxmance is used to promote a project.  The piece goes on to talk about Kaley Cuoco and Henry Cavilli’s “romance” that lasted 12 days when Henry was promoting Man of Steel. Kaley was quoted as saying “I had no one following me until I met Superman. I’ve been in this business for 20 years, and my whole life, I could go anywhere, do anything. There had not been one paparazzi photo of me until like seven months ago. The recognition has been crazy”.  According to HuffPo:
The problem with Cuoco’s statement is that while it used to be commonplace for the paparazzi to be out in full force following celebrities around town, hunting for that perfect picture, that happens far less often today unless you occupy the A-list.
The rest of the piece analyzes Hiddleswift- Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s short romance.
So what did we learn from reading this “great informative article about faux-weddings and faux-mances”?
1. Faux-mances are used for PR purposes to distract from negative stories (Taylor -Kim K smackdown) or to amp up the interest factor in actors promoting projects (Cuoco and Cavilli). Mia isn’t famous and doesn’t bring anything to the table PR wise.  She doesn’t ramp up the frenzy in Darren’s media coverage. Furthermore, they have been dating for 10 years rather than a few weeks to months.
2. Faux weddings -David Miscavige and the Church of Scientology controlled Tom Cruise’s marriage to Katie Holmes- Darren isn’t a Scientologist so this isn’t relevant to anything.
3. Paparazzi pics aren’t nearly as lucrative as they used to be because social media is much easier to push a narrative.
4. Using faux romances and marriages to hide an actor’s sexual orientation was used when studios contracted with an actor for a long period of time. The studio system died out by the 60′s and Hollywood is more open-minded nowadays.    The media has never speculated that Darren is gay, there are no scandalized photos of him with men, Darren has definitively said he’s straight for 11 years. There is no reason to think he would be hiding in the closet. No studio owns him for the last 10 years. He said he was straight before he was on Glee, he dated Mia from before he was on Glee.
The article does give credibility to tinhat tropes- in fact, it does the opposite. Once again, someone got excited that an article covered the same ideas and keywords they love to throw around but nobody read it for content....or they did but like everything, they read it as confirmation bias rather than reading it for what it actually says.

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1366
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1366 Brought to you by ANN Highlighting the April 3365 Holmes Havoc This time the Gaming Authorities decreed we were to use only the 35 ton Holmes on the tops. -Unless we were assigned to K11, there it was an unlimited event. The Holmes is a pretty effective Mech for its size, and fully developed it have room for  a trio of both Cockpits and Chassis. This comes at a cost however, there is no room for Shields, and it can only support a single Engine module. There is four dozens of them in my hangar, so putting together a full formation was not a problem, in fact there was alredy a formation in the books. But the last time they had been called up was in February `64, so some last minute adjustments to the armament would probably be needed. Trouble here was that what normally shold have taken just a few moments suddenly became complicated. The recording system took forever to accept new entries, and soon the time remaining until the scramble had disappeared, while the formation still was far from updated. Well, we would just have to make do with what we had, so the crew were assembled for a quick march over to K3. I have to admit there was some jitters in my stormach, as it always is when we are to face a crowd where we are heavily outlicenced. This time the regulars would have a licence advantage between 28 and 107 on us, equating 4-15 additional weaponmounts on each Mech. But that of course presupposed they had brought legal Mechs, and from the view of things only four of the contestants had brought Holmess in quantity. So a few quick strikes saw us on the slopes, and why not try for the top at the same time? That was an unmitigated disaster. Yusuke Paul Okabayashi from Myth and Legends Team Banzai had five more Holmess than us, and those made short process with our probe. After a few such setbacks we were suddenly blown to the lower slopes by his clan-mate; Darren Jackson, and worry about the crowd behind us put us on the defence. This gave the crew plenty of time to start getting full recordings from all the tops, so when the light finally flashed it was easy to find that the Nephilax winners had been: Div 1 405+ (25 Commanders): Claude Poirier, Nemesis (41m,34s) 2: Sherriff Leary Wretham 3: Fabio Favaro 4: Were Wolf 5: Jeff Haas 6: Sal Vezzosi Jr 7: Bernard Johnson 8: Jay Fleharty 9: Mk Mathews 10: Stuart Myshrall Div 2 -404 (13 Commanders): Makema Mathews, "Raging Vengeance" (7h,13m) Div 3 -299 (14 Commanders): Yusuke Paul Okabayashi, M&L Team Banzai (2h,30m) Div 4 -220 (7 Commanders): KiloToneRecoil, B.o.A.D. (13m,15s) Div 5 -172 (21 Commanders): Grego, B.S.L.R. (24m,55s) Div 6 -122 (12 Commanders): Non de Plume, t&t (12m,51s) Div 7 -93 (21 Commanders): Jack Travis, T.I.o.M.T. (6h,56m) Div 8 -63 (9 Commanders): RobertGoetz, I.N.A. (15h,45m) Div 9 -43 (22 Commanders): Captain Beefheart, Ronins 2 (22m,52s) Div 10 -27 (14 Commanders): Tracy Fraser-Bingham, Murdermech mini (1d,6h) Div 11 -19 (16 Commanders): Iaiskottelu, RED AXE (17h,45m) On the ten highest tops, where only the Holmes were to fight 9(G,4S)+1(S)+3(G,1S)+2(G,S)+5(G,1S)+3(G,2S)+5(G,1S)+2S+4(G,2S)+0= Seven Golds, fifteen Silvers and Twelve Bronzes were awarded to Commanders who might have had pure Holmes formations. Total Contestants: 174 Total medals claimed: 144 (of 165 possible) Compared to the 45 ton event we just finished, only one less commander showed up. But the imbalance between the tops were still pronounced, and a total of twenty-one Bronzes from six tops ended unclaimed and had to be returned for resmelting. The last half-hour saw four Golds being fought over. Six Golds were held for at least two hours, one of them for more than a day. Was this due to strong winners, or perhaps a lack of legal Mechs? As always hard to tell, but lets take a look at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event: .............Silvers......Bronzes Div 1 ....4 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 2 ....4 of 4.........8 of 8 Div 3 ....1 of 4.........4 of 9 Div 4 ....1 of 4.........1 of 2 Div 5 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 6 ....3 of 4.........7 of 7 Div 7 ....3 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 8 ....4 of 4.........4 of 4 Div 9 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 10 ..4 of 4.........9 of 9 Div 11 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10 On four of the tops (K2, K8, K10 and K11) there were not even one successfull medal attack. Only on K3 and K4 was the action fierce enough to redistribute most of the medals. On the remaining five tops the total medal turnover was  four Silvers and eleven Bronzes. None of the clans managed to claim more than one Gold in this event, and there were no unaligned winners either. The sole repeat winner was Nemesis` Claude Poirier on Mount Olympus. Upcoming event: Quadruple Rainbow Chrono Here we get the (so far) biggest Rainbow event. We are allowed to use up to four Mechs from each model this time. And it is a Chrono, so sign up immediately to start claiming the points you will need to get the (good) prizes. Event ends November 14 between 0800 and 0830 New York Time

Missouri ACLU Sues City Of Florissant
By Hannah Holmes, University Of Chicago Class of 2023
September 2, 2020
Tumblr media
On Thursday, August 27, the ACLU of Missouri and the First Amendment Clinic at Washington University in St. Louis filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Florissant, alleging that several ordinances allowed the local police department to violate protestors’ constitutional rights.  Similar laws concerning protests and demonstrations have been enacted across the country, raising concerns about First Amendment rights.  Florissant is located directly north of the city of Ferguson, which was the site of intense protests in 2014 following the killing of Michael Brown and the decision not to indict the involved police officer, Darren Wilson.
Protests in Florissant were not only a part of nationwide protests that erupted after the killing of George Floyd, but were also in response to an incident in which Florissant police officer Joshua Smith struck a suspect with an unmarked police sports utility vehicle.  A video of the June 2 incident then shows him exiting the vehicle and kicking the injured victim [i].  Initial police reports of the incident claimed that Smith tried to avoid hitting the suspect, but videos of the incident captured Smith aiming for the man. Smith was fired on June 10 and has since been charged with two counts of assault, one felony, one misdemeanor, and one count of armed criminal action [ii].
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Khalea Edwards, Arkayla Howard-Tenney, and Nidhi Krishnan, all of whom participated in the Florissant protests.  The lawsuit concerns several Florissant ordinances that the plaintiffs claim violate protestors’ First and Fourteenth Amendment rights; specifically, the plaintiffs allege they violate the right to peaceably assemble (First Amendment) and protection against deprivation of life, liberty, or property without due process (Fourteenth Amendment) [iii].
Section 210.690 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Florissant concerns unlawful assembly. It states, “A person commits the offense of unlawful assembly if he/she knowingly assembles with six (6) or more other persons and agrees with such persons to violate any of the criminal laws of this State or of the United States with force or violence” [iv].  The lawsuit asserts that the ordinance is too vague and grants police officers too much discretion: “The custom of permitting police officers to declare unlawful assemblies under Section 210.690 in the absence of force or violence directly infringes upon Plaintiffs’ Free Speech and Free Assembly rights under the First Amendment to the Constitution, incorporated through the Fourteenth Amendment, because it unlawfully suppresses speech in an arbitrary manner, including when the ordinance is inapplicable.”  Furthermore, they allege that the ordinance “entrusts lawmaking to the momentary judgement of a police officer” [iii].
Section 210.720 of the Code prohibits the blockage of public streets, highways, sidewalks, and buildings and business establishments.  The lawsuit found particular issue with the usage of the phrase “tending to hinder or impede” [iv], which the plaintiffs claim is too vague and allows for the possibility of inconsistent applicability by law enforcement. They also assert that the ordinance “burdens substantially more speech than is necessary to achieve the City’s legitimate interest in ensuring the safety and transversability of sidewalks and streets” [iii].
Section 210.710 of the Code states, “A person commits the offense of refusal to disperse if, being present at the scene of an unlawful assembly or at the scene of a riot, he/she knowingly fails or refuses to obey the lawful command of a Law Enforcement Officer to depart from the scene of such unlawful assembly or riot” [iv]. The plaintiffs attest that this ordinance is unconstitutional because it can be applied even without the presence or threat of force or violence.  Police officers are tasked with determining when an assembly or riot may be lawfully dispersed but participants in these gatherings may not reasonably know what conduct is permissible.
The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law has posted a U.S. Protest Law Tracker in an effort to clearly document laws that may limit the right to peacefully protest. According to the website, since 2016 40 states have considered 133 bills that restrict the right to assemble peaceably; so far, 25 have been enacted, 2 have been enacted with improvements, 19 are still pending, and 87 have been defeated or have expired [v].  Many of the enacted laws concern protests and assemblies near infrastructure sites or gas and oil pipelines, but some concern protests and assemblies in general.  For example, Tennessee HB 8005/SB 8005 “increases the punishment for illegal camping on state property from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class E felony with mandatory minimum sentence of 30 days imprisonment and an order of restitution for any property damage or loss incurred as a result of the offense…” [vi] West Virginia HB 4618 prevents law enforcement officers attempting to disperse “unlawful riots or assemblages” from being charged or convicted for killing or wounding persons as long as no malice or premeditation is present [vii].
An article published by the National Lawyers Guild in 2017 incorrectly predicted that bills restricting First Amendment rights were unlikely to pass due to their unconstitutionality.  Such laws possibly chill dissent among Americans, including legal peaceful protests, because they have wider applicability and more serious consequences than previous laws.  The article notes that many of the laws concern actions that are already illegal, such as obstructing roads, and are only being proposed in order to heighten punishments [viii].  Protestors and groups supporting them are fighting back against these laws and against the use of excessive force by law enforcement officers, such as in a lawsuit filed against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on behalf of the groups Wall of Moms and Don’t Shoot Portland [ix].  Any decision in such cases, whether in the protestors’ favor or against, is likely to cause anger as divisions among Americans regarding recent protests against race and police brutality deepen.
