just watched speak no evil and it was literally so promising until the last 30 minutes when it just went to pure shit. it’s like the (very single and lonely) creators got bored of their own premise and decided to throw it away at the last second.

#i don’t mind spoiling tf out of it bc I’m harshly judging anyone who watches this willingly (myself included) #basically it’s about a Dutch family and a danish family meeting on holiday in italy and becoming friends. after they leave the danish send #a postcard to the Dutch asking them to come spend a weekend w them bc their kid son misses their kid daughter and they all had such a good #time together. they go but these ppl are freaky as hell. but they’re kinda put forward as cultural differences. #like disagreements about lifestyle (meat eaters vs pescatarians) or raising children or restaurants. class difference etc #but then the dutch dad sees the danish dad spying on them as they have sex and the dutch mom catches the danish couple sleeping w her #daughter in the bed while they’re buttfuck naked #they go back for reasons unimportant bc the danish promise them a great last day but fuckin hey Ho that doesn’t happen #the son won’t stop crying in the night so his dad drowns him and the other dad goes to investigate and finds his body. he also finds #photos and luggage from previous families and in a compilation of photos u find out that #the danish couple basically kidnap families #steal their children #and kill the parents #and then pretend the kid is theirs. and they cut out the kid’s tongue so they can’t tell anybody #obviously that’s what happens here too but it’s fucking wild bc they get away ans then it gets so sloppy and stupid #the dad could’ve pushed the car that got ‘stuck’ but instead decided to swim a fucking river to get to a house in the distance ????? #wife somehow got signal and called the killer couple to help them????? #killer couple take them to the middle of nowhere and someone comes and holds the mom…… who just yells and girls at his arms a little….. #while the other woman cuts her daughters tongue out……… #then the rando guy just takes the kid. who just kicks her legs a bit in protest and yells. and then the mom just beats on the window and #screams. no attacking the psycho lady or anything #the dad says nothing he’s just vibing like 🧍🏻in the passenger seat #then they take them to the middle of nowhere. make them get naked. and then make them stand a metre away #AND THROW ROCKS AT THEM #LITERALLY #JUST THROW ROCMS AT THEM #TIL THEY DIE……. #no escape plan both just completely submit to their fate im like #this entire movie u have fought tooth and nail for ur daughter and now ur like #well <3 she has no tongue now so <3

Det fungerer tilsyneladende sådan her: Man skriver en masse indlæg på forhånd, så man kan opdatere sine accounts med regelmæssige intervaller. Når man virkelig har brug for at lave noget, er det ikke muligt at være flere steder på én gang. Jo, eller også kan man det, men det vil naturligvis have en negativ indvirkning på kvaliteten af det, man laver, og man kommer faktisk til at lave ingenting . Det er vel også herfra, at ideen om at nok er nok, når nok bare er et dårligt udført arbejde, udspringer.

Jeg kravler efterhånden ud af mit skjulested. Jeg har opdateret min Instagram-konto, som har været frosset siden midten af februar. Sådan er det, jeg leder efter en lejlighed i København og er glad for alle mulige ideer og planer, men efter en uge er jeg som millioner af mennesker helt knust og ødelagt, men man kan bestemt ikke stoppe og man er nødt til at gå videre. Det gik så utrolig hurtigt, især alt taget i betragtning, og i midten af marts flyttede vi ind i vores nye lejlighed.

At kravle ud i verden lyder måske mærkeligt i lyset af, at jeg virker til at være konstant online og generere en masse content, mest visuelt, men jeg er også begyndt at skrive mere og mere. Det er ordene, mængden af dem i dette tilfælde, der er et tegn på, at jeg er ved at løfte hovedet igen, og at jeg har lyst til at dele det, jeg tænker. Visuelt indhold er sådan set min måde at trække vejret på. Når det ikke er der også, så går tingene slet ikke godt.

Hvad handlede det allerførste afsnit om? Så er jeg begyndt at skrive mere, og jeg har meget at sige og meget til hvem. Det handler om ikke at være flere steder på én gang, som jeg taler om. For at kunne udtrykke mig klart og tydeligt, uden at glemme skønheden og stilen i sproget, er jeg nødt til at fokusere på én ting ad gangen. Jeg har brug for oftere at indfange virkeligheden, at skrive mine oplevelser og indtryk ordentligt ned og derefter dele dem.

"Hi, good morning."

The man ambling up to the counter looks like an extremely average lifestyle backpacker. Late twenties or early thirties, tan, long shaggy hair in a manbun, neatly trimmed beardstache, Led Zeppelin tee and beat-up cargos, flannel shirt and ratty sneakers. His rectangular backpack at least fits on his back and isn't bumping into anything.

He's got dark Ray-Bans on. He places his hands on the counter, leans forward, and smiles like a celebrity trying not to be recognized.

When he speaks, he sounds like he's from New York, but gently and softly from New York.

"Can I get ahhhh large chai latte with uh three shots of espresso, milk child temp and the highest percent fat you got on hand, two jiggers of simple or actually no vanilla, two shots of vanilla syrup in that? And uhhhhhhhh a coupla breakfast sandwiches if you got them, or sausage rolls or whatever. Or if you don't have those, maybe ahhhhhh cheese Danish? One with fruit one without, or two different fruits, or like, two cheese if you just have those. Just two Danishes that happen to have cheese in them. Or two breakfast sandwiches. Whatever's more expensive if you got both. Thanks thanks thaaaanks, love the shop it's so cute."

Having gotten all that out in what seems like one breath, without ever raising his voice, he stands back slightly, presses his hands together in a Namaste gesture, and -- yep -- makes a perfunctory little bow.

I think that one of the reasons for my vivid interest in Vinland Saga, outside of how fucking interesting Askeladd is, is the theme of depravity and cruelty. It's not necessarily explored in the Vinland Saga itself but rather when I was writing "We were the fire" and now, when I'm writing my other thing, focused a lot on Askeladd's crew, I was forced to confront the question - how do you write such assholes without making everybody hate them and without making them lose their original character?

And the answer struck me quite suddenly as I came back to the passage from "Fire", Askeladd backstory after Gorm but before Floki. It's not that you go out of your way to be an evil fucker that kills and steals for the act itself - although there for sure are people like that, people that just enjoy hurting others. I, however, think that it's just the fact that it is so much easier to fit in and choose simpler solutions than bother with some moral path.

Especially in the context of Vinland Saga, with it's viking culture, how would you turn out if that was all you have ever known? Could you really turn out better, not give in into those impulses? Would kindness really win that easily over how you were conditioned to be and the simplicity of living like that?

Now that I think about it - Thorfinn was such a cute and happy child originally, wasn't he? And he had Thors "You have no enemies" as his father - and even with that, he so easily fell into Askeladd's lifestyle, into killing for the convenience and achieving that bloody duel with Askeladd. And Askeladd was so proud of his ancestry, he clearly treasured his mother so much so why did he end up the way he was? How could he abandon his legacy, after all this time, and become just a Danish viking that he hated so much?

Well, my perspective on that is in my monster of "We were the Fire" but those are just our main season 1 characters - what about the rest? Was the rest of Askeladd's crew truly so wicked and inhumane from the beginning that they really didn't care? Have they never hesitated, like Olgar, after he witnessed killing, could they truly be just a mindless killing machines? Why did Atli, so against betrayal, a man that was so unsuited to this lifestyle that Askeladd himself told him to never enter the battlefield again, ended up in a crew like Askeladd's? How did Torgrim, how did Ear, how did Bjorn?

I don't know, this may seem like such an obvious thing to ponder but it really hit me and, while I wanted this post to be maybe a bit more cohesive and to the point, now that I'm here I'm actually really unsure of how to put my thoughts into words. But, if you are interested in my writing, know that "The Blue of her Eyes" is getting a whole ass theme now and my other project also got a kickstart, now that I have such a clear vision.

So, yeah. Chapter 2 of "Blue of her Eyes" should actually come out soon, I am really motivated to write now.
