favorite thing: It's hard to choose, but I think what initially attracted me to him is that despite everything he's been through, he's a good dude. Like in the anime, there were times where it seemed like Dante wouldn't help someone, but in the end he'd do what they needed him for.
least favorite thing: the implication that he was gonna kill Vergil or die trying, forever leaving Nero in the dark. I understand why, but still...
favorite line: "He's your father!" It's really the delivery of the line that puts it at the top of my list.

Hello again!
Dante and Nero definitely prank Vergil the entire day, while he gets increasingly more confused and angry as they take advantage of the fact that he knows nothing about the holiday.
He sits down to read his book? Opens it up to find suggestive pictures in it instead and blushes violently while Dante and Nero are laughing their asses off in the next room.
He goes to make a cup of tea? Dante replaced the loose leaves with dried broccoli and cinnamon powder.
He tries to slick his hair back? Nero replaced his gel with slime.
He wants to listen to his classical records? They both replaced his records with hard rock ones.

What characters do you headcanon on the Aromantic Spectrum?
Hot take: Dante! He has so much 'I pretend I have sexual and romantic attraction because society' energy to me.
I think it's funny if Trish in DMC 1 was instructed to use her body to get Dante to go to the island, but he literally only went for revenge. That's it. And after Dante is like 'I mean, I guess you're attractive? Maybe?' And Lady is completely unbothered by it all.
Alao the idea that Vergil thought Nero was Dante's kid would be the funniest shit to everyone except Vergil. Like you think that Dante had sex? That he was in a romantic relationship? Bruh, you really haven't been in his life.
A side effect at this is that Dante gives really good romantic advice because he's always objective. Nero will pine over what to wear to see Kyrie and Dante'll say 'Just wear what makes you comfortable, if she loves you, which she clearly does, she wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable.' And then he takes a bite of pizza, completely unfazed.
Patty also uses this trait of Dante's to full effect, often using him as a vibe checker. because his instincts are just that good.

What do you think are the biggest fears of each of the DMC cast (that you want to talk about)?
Some of these or more evident than others I think.
Vergil for instance, is basically stated to be most afraid of being powerless in Visions of V, and that's basically what started the plot of DMC 5.
For Dante, there's less explicitly said about it, but I think he's most afraid of being alone, which is interesting considering how he pretty consistently tries to inflict this on himself, though that's mostly because it goes hand in hand with his other biggest fear, which is the people he cares about dying because of him, spawned mostly from his time as Tony Redgrave (thanks Gil).
Nero is also afraid of being powerless, though it's more specifically not being strong enough to save the people he loves, as shown by the pre DMC 4 demon attack with Kyrie, the death of Credo, and climaxing in stopping Dante and Vergil from killing each other.
The rest would basically be up to head cannon, but let's say that Trish is most afraid of losing her free will (huge missed opportunity in 5), and Lady is most afraid of being betrayed like her father did to her, which is why she acts so abrasive.
I'm not really confident about any others, but I'm sure someone has thought of something really neat with Patty and Kyrie and Credo etc.
Also, obligatory Gilver mention: Gil is probably afraid of being inferior to the Sons of Sparda. He was designed to be a perfect combination of their combat data after all, it only makes sense that he's better than both of them. He of course isn't, hence his big nonverbal freakout upon his death.

How would things go in a scenario where the twins weren't separated after the fire? How would the story we know go in this world? How would their characters be here? What about their dynamic?
Feel free to do this as Dante was still inside the house while Vergil was outside, they were both inside, they were both outside, or any idea you can think of for how this could go. Feel free to tackle multiple variations of this scenario.
id love for them to be a devil hunting duo as kids like in that one post ill have to find again
the only way i see this au working out was if they were both in the house at the same time, vergil doesnt have much reason to go in after he thinks his whole family was murdered.
I think dmc3 would straight up not happen due to vergil being the main driving focus of that plot.
dmc1 would still happen, as would 2. the plot of dmc4 could be heavily altered as vergil and dante have no reason to not be present for nero’s life (unless you want them to be deadbeat). 5 would also not happen because vergil was the driving force of that one too.

Capcom has called to tell you they've put you in charge of the next DMC game. They left no instructions but one: the game focuses on Dante and Vergil after the events of DMC 5. How will you do the game? What will the plot be? How will you have their relationship progress throughout the game?

Funny thing is, my answer to this post is disagreement with this point on a fundamental level.
I have an extremely hard time imagining anything for DMC6, and one of the reasons is story. Capcom did a great thing when they actually acknowledged their series-founding character aging. Dante is not getting younger, physically it's not really a problem for him, but emotionally? This man should have gotten a mental retire like, after dmc4. I mean it. He shouldn't get sucked into another Sparda legacy drama, please no. Same for Vergil, man needs a gramophone, his bro to retire with, a library card and some freakin knitting needles or smth.
DMC1 started with the second lowest low the twins relationship had ever been at, DMC3 showed the divide of their relationship, DMC4 was the ghost of it and DMC5 had been the fallout of 20+ years of not-cooing-with-trauma. 5 ends with a perfect ending the twins were gifted by Hideaki Itsuno (bless the man), there is nowhere meaningful to take them.
(This is where I would have ranted about Mundus and how HE should be the main boss of the series, but he was sealed off and manga says twins could have defeated him even in their twenties and capcom did not freakin retcon that)
Alas, this would have been my answer if you haven't added the mandatory twins rule xD (to be fair, it does sound like a rule executives force on a new game, cause how would they ever let go of idols like Dante&Vergil? the bois sell better than hot cookies)
This is where I go in reverse mode, because I think the post is actually onto something. A new game about twins conquering different regions/levels of Hell and fighting cool Hell Lords the entire time. It would also be a good opportunity for some worldbuilding overhaul I keep ranting about in every single ask!
The only gameplay feature I can imagine for the game, the one that was MUCH requested and so close to properly implemented in 5 should ABSOLUTELY return - proper coop. Not sure if splitscreen would work optimisation-wise, but they should freakin try. RE engine turned out to be surprisingly adaptable and works insanely well in 5.
Character abilities wise - DMC5 is a goddamn masterpiece of slasher, I have absolutely no idea how to make it better. Dante alone requires you to study in Combo University for four years, and Vergil would freakin make you meditate in a cave without food or water for another four.
If the narrative could take a double plotlines structure and Nero would have his own adventures in the human world, it would be nice to give him more attention as well. And an opportunity for some new devil hunter characters (Master Summoner Patty) !
If DMC6 ever happens then Mundus HAS to be the endgame come on, that is (1) plotline DMC has hanging and it would be EPIC to make.
Twins-relationship wise I expect a Lot of banter. It would be awesome to have the second twin be AI piloted around the level with you.
As for bonding? Mixed feelings. Twins will have lots of time to learn to work together again, but I am not sure they can actually heal while in Hell. Hell trip is a constant run from and into violence, demon horders, hunting and being pursued in a maddening never-ending circle untill the twins are able to escape. This is not the best situation for healing, honest conversations, or supportive moments. Plus, the twins entire lives revolve around violence, I can only wish one day they can settle in a calm environment to learn to live without it too.
btw the last two sentences are like, the premise of Raven's @stashoflostsouls newest Take a trip or two awesome fic, definitely check it and her other works out if you liked the previous paragraph
So yeah, I believe the twins will progress a lot during their escapades, but the reforging of their brotherhood can only fully happen outside the violence they are regularly thrown into, and a retirement plot doesn't really sound like a good idea for a slasher game, does it.
as always, the rambles got the best of me.
tldr: Personally, I think the twins' story is done and they should be allowed to happily retire, but if the story continuing to revolve around them is the mandatory rule then my best guess is a cool slasher in Hell. Still, it wouldn't fully mend the twins relationship, even if the game would probably be very satisfying to play

What sort of music would be on each character's (that you want to talk about) Spotify Wrapped?
Run free my headcanons and fresh new musings!
Nero would have a crap-ton of random music on his, from Kyrie and the kids using his account around the house. He's given up on his recommended artists at this point but loves seeing Wrapped so he can speedrun whatever the heck happened to his account throughout the year. He and Kyrie sit with a coffee and have a good chuckle when Wrapped eventually drops. I headcanon Nero with late 90s/early noughties vibes - still fresh since Fortuna is a little behind the times! Pop rock, metal, emo, indie - maybe some fun pop punk from the mainland now Fortuna has opened up a little! Some Bowling for Soup, Papa Roach, Korn, Muse. The only headcanon I won't compromise on? The guy loves Linkin Park (and therefore has excellent taste).
Vergil would adapt to modern internet speeds pretty quickly and would really enjoy listening to random violin covers of pop/rock songs on youtube etc (thank you, V's taunt). Maybe in comparison he keeps his Spotify playlists immaculately organised by genre. YouTube is for browsing, Spotify is his library, so no big surprises for him in his end of year summary. I reckon that like Dante, he likes rock and metal, being a child of the 80s. He likes lyrics with deeper meanings or that tell a story (Nightwish! Kate Bush! Harvey Danger! Alice in Chains!) but he's known for his speed, so he likes fast stuff too (think Pendulum - he finds it relaxing), as well as some classical compositions he remembers Sparda listening to in childhood for when he wants to privately remember how things used to be. This year on spotify he did however discover the "darkcore" genre and made a little playlist (I:Scintilla and HEALTH make his top songs list because when this guy obsesses over something he really does). He and Nero bond over mutual love of the Arctic Monkeys. Nero is pretty surprised to see some drill in there though - Vergil has lived an interesting life, so he might be more open minded than you think.
Dante, Dante, Dante. If the man has a spotify account, it just has one playlist that is 1000 hours long full of all the random music he likes. He's a versatile guy - pop, modern and classic rock, country, hair metal, jazz - anything that tickles his fancy. Has a soft spot for John Farnham because Eva loved him and it reminds him of her, so he definitely makes an appearance. Playlist will go something like this "Scorpians -> Madonna -> Kiss -> NSync -> Buckcherry -> Mud -> Billie Piper -> Metallica -> Portishead -> ibiza2009_j.s.InDaHouse remix". Somehow the combination works, but Wrapped can't handle it and self-destructs, so Dante goes back to the jukebox to listen to his mermaid rock 💔

While standing on top of the Qlipoth in DMC 5 Vergil posed a very interesting question that got many people wondering: How would the story of DMC go if Dante and Vergil's positions were switched?
That is what I am asking you now to answer. How does this story go in a world where their positions are switched?
I think I probably already half mentioned my theory on this somewhere, but this is my chance to write it fully.
Soooo... my whole starting point is Vergil being the mommy issues™️ twin and Dante being the daddy issues™️ twin (yeah it sounds silly, I know). So what if Vergil was the one in the house (that Eva hid in the closet) and Dante was the one outside, alone?
note: these are just my ideas and it's ok if you all don't agree or see it differently
I think Vergil's whole "I wanted to be protected and loved" and "my human side is weak" issues wouldn't be there, or at least they would be wayy lighter, as in this scenario Eva actually saves him
What about Dante? I think he would blame his father Sparda for this whole thing happening "If only Sparda were still here he could have protected us..." including their mother. I feel like Dante would understand that Eva was likely being attacked too and killed so it's not like she abandoned him, but Sparda? He disappeared in mysterious circumastances for what we know.
Not only that, but if he didn't have children and a wife at all, he wouldn't have put them in danger. In the mind of an angry child being brutally attacked, he could probably see his father as selfish for doing it.
I think he would become resentful of his father in this scenario, and that would become his "motivation". Motivation for what? I think he would try to close all "bridges" / "doors" between the human and demonic domains, to prevent cases such as his from happening again. A complete separation between the two worlds, no matter the cost.
And Vergil? I'm not sure, as I've been mainly thinking about Dante in this scenario. If I have to comapare him to Dante in the regular dmc universe... I think he would probably take up mercenary work (just like Dante did), but he would be more solitary and closed off, because that's just how he is personality wise. He would also have way more interest in knowledge about demons and Sparda, I can totally see him trying to have spare time to go in libraries and other places where he might gather information.

I think Patty, especially when she was younger, tried to do something special for April Fool's Day. She wanted to prank Dante, of course. I like to think she was successful at least once.
Nico would absolutely get Nero with a prank.
Dante... I don't think he'd put much effort into it pre-DMC4. Maybe a token 'I actually love olives' joke, but nothing more than that. After he gets his brother back, though, I think he'd want to prank Vergil. Dante always wants to play with his brother, after all. :') And if he gets stabbed for it, well, that's just another Tuesday in the Sparda family.
I've never been one for pranks so I can't come up with any lol.

Hello again!
Dante is terrified of losing his only brother... again. He spent years and years thinking Vergil was dead, and now that he's back, he's absolutely scared shitless to lose him. He'll never admit it, though it's clear how happy he is to be "fighting" him and talking to him again at the end of 5. He loves his brother so much.
Vergil, much like Dante, is terrified of losing his brother, and now his son. Anyone close to him, really. He's lost too much and suffered so much in his life. Losing anyone else would completely break him. Even when leaving Nero to destroy the Qliphoth, it was clear that he was sad. And giving Nero his book? His heart? (According to V in Visions of V, his book is sacred to him, and he calls it his heart)
V fears dying and, just like Vergil, he's absolutely terrified of losing anyone he loves and cares about. Being a part of Vergil, he obviously shares his fears and emotions. Maybe even a little more deeply than Vergil, since his demonic half is missing from V.
Nero fears losing Kyrie the most, and now that he knows he has a family in Vergil and Dante, he fears losing them, too. I believe he also kinda fears anything happening to Nico, which is why he hates her smoking so much. Just my personal thoughts there lol

Halloween is upon us. How do you think the characters would celebrate? Who enjoys Halloween the most? What would they dress up as?
HALLOWEEN TIME BOIS 🎃
okey so, the squad would probably have just a small get together where they splurge on candy and having a drawing for what Halloween movies they are going to watch.
Patty is easily the most excited about this, and always goes full force as soon as September ends. She's the one who does the most decorating, although she does drag Dante into decorating the office with her as well.
Costumes are usually not needed, but since this is Vergil's first Halloween with them Patty insists they all wear costumes. Morrison (who never wears a costume, he's too old for this shit) was elected as the judge.
Dante thought it would be funny to pair up with Vergil; he insisted they go as Jason and Freddy Kruger respectively, even though Vergil has not seen any of the movies. The costumes are handmade and kinda shitty, but the highlight was Dante tapping kitchen knives to Vergil's fingers.
Patty wanted to match their theme so she went as Ghostface. Over the course of the party every single person in the office was called by her at least once.
Nero heard about the 'scary' theme through osmosis and it went completely over his head. He was dressed as Scooby-Doo. Kyrie took pity on him and showed up dressed as Daphne an hour after the party started. The kids though he looked great tho.
Nico is the reason Nero got the theme wrong. She dressed as Velma but thought it would be funny if it was specifically a slutty Velma. Dante thought that the entire situation was fuckign hilarious.
Trish and Lady actually coordinated (they always do) and went as Holmes and Watson. The difference being that Watson had a lot more guns than usual.
Lady and Trish tied with Patty for winning the coveted plastic trophy Kyrie had picked up on the way over. Vergil sliced it straight down the middle before their argument devolved into a fistfight.

Gilver. He's definitely a sex repulsed aroace, mainly because the idea of intimacy at all is alien, and he'd be especially against an expression of such that's so messy.
I see Trish on the same spectrum but on lesser degree, not so much sex repulsed (in fact I think she'd find it fascinating in a strictly scientific sense), but doesn't really feel attraction.
And Arkham, but not in a fun way.

Dante is SUCH a guy who pulls pranks. every year its a three way battle between him, Trish and Lady to see who can pull the best prank.
Nico also gets into prank wars with Nero, and theirs will eventually get mixed up with the trio’s and it spirals from there. Vergil just gets caught in the crossfire. Kyrie is the one who wins it. no i wont tell you why.

This has always been on a "maybe" list of questions I'm not really sure if I actually want to ask or not, but decided why the hell not with Valentine's Day around the corner (I would ask on Valentine's day, but with my at least ten days between questions thing (which I still might be a teensy bit flexible with) doing that would mean I wouldn't be able to ask another question I want to ask when I want to ask it).
What are all your Devil May Cry ships? Which one is your favorite? Which do you think about the most?
Hi Ember, thank you for the ask! It's Valentine's, so I think I have a kind of obligation to answer this one today xD Sorry for being less active lately. However, I'm not out of the DMC woods yet, and I will try to participate in fandom week however I can.
Now, for the ask itself - I think the answer is rather obvious. DMC is primarily a family of losers drama, and I'm all here for it. Except NeroKiri and Sparda/Eva, those are adorable and we should appreciate them more)))
That being said, in a safe space, far far far away from canon, I really dig Dante/Lucia and Vergil/Lady*.
*Actually I think Vergil/Lady could be a possible post-dmc5 development too, or at least, I see their personal arcs aligning a bit past that point, cause both will need to adjust to 'normal human life', maybe they can go through that journey together.
sadly the same cannot be said for Dante/Lucia, I think their opportunity in canon is far gone at this point, still I imagine they have nothing but respect for each other
Both of these will be adorable, also I can only envision the extreme 'double date' shenanigans, or, lord forbid, 'date advice' for or for twins. The romantic comedy potential in this far-far-far-away-from-canon scenario is completely off the charts. I'm surprised we're not talking more about this tbh.
Here be some date ideas, because I can be a shipping mess and I am legally allowed to today:
Sparda/Eva went to concert dates. I am all hands down for 'weird girl' Kyrie headcanons, and I am also both hands down for the same for Eva. She was a metalhead, maybe even a singer in a band. Even if she wasn't, you can pry my headcanon that she's the origin of the twins' musical talent out of my cold. dead. hands.
NeroKiri should go to a concert date too, for sure. But I think a sunset walk around the city, or maybe a fair would also be a good thing for them. Definitely cinema dates for these two. In general, they're probably good with any time spent together.
Dante/Lucia - Prime Soft Material TM. Dante is a prime gentleman when he wants to be, also Lucia is quite tender by nature. I imagine they'd have a good time on a botanical garden walk (Dante's okay with pretty much anything, Lucia would like something beautiful and educational). Maybe a picnic.
Vergil/Lady - wohooo these two are explosive. I imagine half of their time together is spent in a competitive mood, as both crave and thrive in it, and the other is them just... relaxing together somewhere, probably somewhere expensive, these two are classy. I feel like they'd be at each other's throats and head over heels almost in equal measure.
If we're talking post-dmc5 scenario, then it's much more timid for them. At this point in their lives both are kind of tired of constant danger, even if the hunger for adrenaline will forever remain. It'd be a much slower and gradual process for them, likely developed over casually meeting or going on missions together. (Dante and Trish sniff them out miles away and squeal in true shipper glee on the inside)
As for date ideas - vinery trip, maybe a literature evening (if Lady has it in her) or a theatre date. Last one seems the most likely to me.
