Just a reminder we are still in a pandemic... Catching Covid 3 times like it’s the flu is no joke, vaccinated or not.  You can still DIE.  Wear your fucking masks.  Keep fucking around and you will find out.

Daily Comic Journal: November 15, 2021: "Branding!"
Even though there’s this new strain of the Covid virus, what a difference a year makes! Last November people were staying at home, masked when they did leave their homes and everyone was getting prepared for a lonely Thanksgiving. Now, thanks to the vaccines it doesn’t feel as dire and scary. Yes, even with the Delta Force bursting through! Still would like a booster shot though.

Unlike Delta variant, Omicron less likely to cause long Covid: Lancet study
Tumblr media
The Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is less likely to cause long COVID than the Delta strain, according to a study published in The Lancet journal.
Long COVID is defined as having new or ongoing symptoms four weeks or more after the start of the disease, the researchers said.
Symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of concentration, and joint pain, which can adversely affect day-to-day activities, and in some cases can be severely limiting, they said.
The researchers found that the odds of experiencing long COVID were between 20-50 per cent less during the Omicron period versus the Delta period, depending on age and time since vaccination.
"The Omicron variant appears substantially less likely to cause Long-COVID than previous variants but still 1 in 23 people who catch COVID-19 go on to have symptoms for more than four weeks," said study lead author Claire Steves from King's College London, UK.
The study identified 56,003 UK adult cases first testing positive between December 20, 2021, and March 9, 2022, when Omicron was the dominant strain.
Researchers compared these cases to 41,361 cases first testing positive between June 1, 2021, and November 27, 2021, when the Delta variant was dominant.

Delta or different variant may cause another Covid outbreak: Study
Tumblr media
The Omicron subvariants may burn themselves out in the next couple of months and there could be another outbreak of Delta or a different coronavirus strain this summer, according to a modelling study conducted in Israel.
The findings, published last week in the journal Science of the Total Environment, suggests that while Delta wiped out the variants that preceded it, Omicron has not eliminated the deadly variant which could re-emerge.

Researchers from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) in Israel developed sensitive arrays that can differentiate variants from each other in wastewater which continues to give indications of where the coronavirus is active, even when PCR and rapid testing of people declines. Read More

Delta Variant Might Return, Israeli Researchers Warn
By TPS • 2 May, 2022 Jerusalem, 2 May, 2022 (TPS) — The Omicron Coronavirus (COVID-19) variants may burn themselves out in the next couple of months and the Delta variant might reemerge, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev researchers have warned in a new paper. Hopeful covid news for once!
"In total, the team obtained six antibodies that could neutralize multiple coronaviruses, including COVID-19, its variants Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Omicron, the original SARS virus, along with multiple other animal coronaviruses transmitted from bats and pangolins...
The researchers found that the most powerful antibody, named E7, was able to neutralize both SARS and COVID-19, animal sarbecoviruses, as well as new COVID-19 variants, such as Omicron XBB.1.16.
E7 was shown to target a region of the coronavirus’ spike protein and blocked the shape-shifting process the virus requires to infect cells and cause illness, the study notes.
“The (neutralizing) potency and breadth of the E7 antibody exceeded any other SARS-related coronavirus antibodies we’ve come across,” said Chia.
“It maintained activity against even the newest Omicron subvariants, while most other antibodies lose effectiveness.”The researchers found that the most powerful antibody, named E7, was able to neutralize both SARS and COVID-19, animal sarbecoviruses, as well as new COVID-19 variants, such as Omicron XBB.1.16.

Microorganisms, Vol. 12, Pages 2: Assessing Genomic Mutations in SARS-CoV-2: Potential Resistance to Antiviral Drugs in Viral Populations from Untreated COVID-19 Patients
Naturally occurring SARS-CoV-2 variants mutated in genomic regions targeted by antiviral drugs have not been extensively studied. This study investigated the potential of the #RNA-dependent #RNA polymerase (RdRp) complex subunits and non-structural protein (Nsp)5 of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) to accumulate natural mutations that could affect the efficacy of antiviral drugs. To this aim, SARS-CoV-2 genomic sequences isolated from 4155 drug-naive individuals from southern Italy were analyzed using the Illumina MiSeq platform. Sequencing of the 4155 samples showed the following viral variant distribution: 71.2% Delta, 22.2% Omicron, and 6.4% Alpha. In the Nsp12 sequences, we found 84 amino acid substitutions. The most common one was P323L, detected in 3777/4155 (91%) samples, with 2906/3777 (69.9%) also showing the G671S substitution in combination. Additionally, we identified 28, 14, and 24 different amino acid substitutions in the Nsp5, Nsp7, and Nsp8 genomic regions, respectively. Of note, the V186F and A191V substitutions, affecting residues adjacent to the active site of Nsp5 (the target of the antiviral drug Paxlovid), were found in 157/4155 (3.8%) and 3/4155 (0.07%) samples, respectively. In conclusion, the RdRp complex subunits and the Nsp5 genomic region exhibit susceptibility to accumulating natural mutations. This susceptibility poses a potential risk to the efficacy of antiviral drugs, as these mutations may compromise the drug ability to inhibit viral replication https://www.mdpi.com/2076-2607/12/1/2?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

What do we know about vaccines and boosters and long COVID? Do we know anything?
Jetelina: We do. We know that vaccines help a little. We don't really know how much they help. Some studies have shown that vaccines reduce risk of long COVID by 85%. Other studies have shown about 15%. So there's this huge range. I think what's clear is that vaccines help a little, but they're not perfect. You could be fully boosted, get an asymptomatic infection, and still get long COVID. That's, to me, slightly terrifying, but they do help.
The other thing that also is helping with long COVID is the way this virus is mutating. Thankfully Omicron is less likely to cause long COVID than Delta, there was this really nice study done a couple months ago, but again, it's still there. It's still a risk, even if you kind of do everything you need to do to get vaccinated.
This virus is nasty, and this is where your additional layers come in, like, wearing a mask at the grocery store can do a little bit to help that too.
On mucosal Vaccines:
I went to a White House event a month or two ago about the next-generation vaccines. I think it's very clear we need a next-generation vaccine. Unfortunately, I think it's gonna take us a couple years because we just don't have an Operation Warp Speed 2.0.
Is that next-generation vaccine going to be like a pan coronavirus vaccine? Which means it's variant proof, which would be super cool. Or is it going to be more of an intranasal or oral vaccine, which would really stunt this pandemic because it would stop transmission really well. Is it one of those microneedle vaccine things that I think are pretty cool? I don't know, but there's a lot of innovation happening right now. Unfortunately, it's going slow like it did pre-pandemic just because of funding.
Faust: Yeah, that bothers me. We did something successful and then we were like 'Oh, let's not do that again. That was too successful,' or something.

Farm Aid Board Member Neil Young to Sit out Annual Fundraiser
- “I don’t think it is safe in the pandemic,” he says
Neil Young will not appear at Farm Aid 2022.
This will be the second straight Farm Aid without board member Young, who hasn’t played to a live audience since 2019. The festival was online in 2020 and Young skipped the ’21 edition amid the delta-variant coronavirus surge.
Now it’s omicron keeping Young on the sidelines.
Young made his decision known in response to a fan’s letter in his online Times-Contrarian newspaper.
“I will not be at Farm Aid this year,” he wrote. “I am not ready for that yet. I don’t think it is safe in the pandemic. I miss it very much.”
The 2022 festival is slated for Sept. 24 at an as-yet-unannounced location. There’s been no comment on Young’s plans, but Farm Aid’s website lists only fellow board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Margo Price as confirmed performers.
More acts will be announced.

My first blog : a bit of history of a big challenge I was presented 18 months ago to define who I am today : Christopher J Bonelli 2.0
Tumblr media
I came down with a very serious case of COVID-19 Delta Variant. I was placed in a medically induced coma for 55 days FROM July – Sept 2021, in the ICU. I had to be intubated and put on a ventilator, and eventually they had to do a tracheotomy, because they couldn't extubate me otherwise. While there they did a number of surgeries on me, on top of the tracheotomy, included a feeding tube, three chest tubes and multiple central lines.
On the 55th day I woke up with tubes coming out of all parts of my body. I was there for another week and a half, after being released from the ICU. When I was discharged, couldn’t walk or talk, and quickly realized the enormous feat I would have in front of me in order to recover. I had to learn how to walk, talk, eat, breath, and perform daily activities of living, all over again. I’m still on the big oxygen machine and my lung capacity is on 53% , doctors say I should make a recovery between 16-24 months. It currently has been 15 months since being discharged.
I’ve been a loyal tenant for three years now and this is the first time I am late on rent due to a financial hardship from getting sick and having over a year of rehabilitation? This complex has tried to evict due to a few weeks late on rent smh . Why Should I need to be penalized, the government did not help with ANY COVID RELIEF PROGRAMS …the state of FLORIDA did not find me temporary disabled granting me with SSDI although I met all the criteria. ERAP and SNAP declined me probably because my taxes showed I was making more than the threshold but what was I supposed to the in the following months with a 14 month no work order should help because I was making 6 figures and I will again when im fully healthy.
The leasing office knew everything that was going on and put me into another apartment 1406 at the same address 405 ne 2nd st apt 1406 fort Lauderdale fl 33301. There was no exchange a move in fee they handed me a key and I signed a lease. During the move I passed out twice and had to be hospitalized again because my lungs arent capable of that much endurance yet. So I have received an eviction notice and 3day notice to vacate on my door. I’m trying to keep a positive mindset that I will get better soon but I was the only survivor with delta variant from imperial hospital and have not received any funding from government. Im at the point where I need assistance from the government . I really need help.
Having a fiancé cheat on me during my recovery , losing my finances , job , relearning to become a human again of course I’m going to deal with mental issues that I have been overcoming through therapy
Im constantly getting my organs checked and my immune system is at the lowest. I lost everything in a snap of a figure but instead of sitting there an sulking I’ve been pushing myself to be strong and get passed this I went in the hospital at 195lbs came out at 120, I’m finally putting the weight back on, but there seems to be an obstacle in my way every time. I have major PTSD, Major Depression and anxiety disorder all diagnosed by a psychiatrist as well as permanent fibrosis in both my lungs. I went into AFIB 3 times as well. I’m only 32 and it’s a mission for me to bend over and put the dishes away or to walk just one block, I was a bodybuilder before my life was turned upside down.
It’s been 17 months and I have made a 90% recovery I believe it’s time Now its time for me to get back on my feet and others in need of my support and share my story to help overcome obstacles such as mine.

*XBB variant* Let's pay attention to the following information: Everyone is advised to wear a mask because the new variant of the COVID-Omicron XBB coronavirus is different, deadly and not easy to detect correctly. The symptoms of the new virus COVID-Omicron XBB are the following: 1. There is no cough. 2. There is no fever. There will only be a limited number of these others: 3. Joint pain. 4. Headache. 5. Pain in the neck. 6. Upper back pain. 7. Pneumonia. 8. There is usually no appetite. COVID-Omicron XBB is 5 times more virulent than the Delta variant and has a higher mortality rate than it. It takes less time for the condition to reach extreme severity and sometimes there are no obvious symptoms. Let's be more careful! This strain of the virus is not found in the nasopharyngeal region and directly affects the lungs for a relatively short period of time. Several patients diagnosed with Covid-Omicron XBB were classified as afebrile and pain free, but x-rays showed mild chest pneumonia. Nasal swab tests are often negative for Covid-Omicron XBB, and cases of false negative nasopharyngeal tests are increasing. This means that the virus can spread in the community and directly infect the lungs, causing viral pneumonia, which in turn causes acute respiratory distress. This explains why the Covid-Omicron XBB has become something very contagious, highly virulent and lethal. Caution, avoid crowded places, keep a distance of 1.5 m even in open spaces, wear a double-layer mask, wear a suitable mask, wash hands frequently, even if everyone is asymptomatic (no coughing or sneezing). This wave of Covid-Omicron XBB is deadlier than the first wave of Covid-19. So we have to be very careful and take several reinforced precautions against the coronavirus. Maintain vigilant communication with your friends and family. Do not keep this information to yourself, share it with other family members and friends. So I checked the changed NHS Covid advice like a good girl and concluded that I will be ignoring it because I am not too stupid to live. It stinks of political interference over science.
Tumblr media
Mmmkay. This is the only example they have under "close contact". If "close contact" for Covid-19 required cohabitation or an overnight stay, we wouldn't have had a pandemic, now, would we? It would've been contained by the limited and largely fixed number of sleeping arrangements.
OMICRON IS HELLA CONTAGIOUS. It's 4 x as contagious as Delta, which was 1.5 x as contagious as Alpha, which was 1.5 x as contagious as the original Wuhan strain. Nearly three years and three more-contagious variants later, why the FUCK is the NHS website implying you're only at risk if you stay overnight in somebody's house?
Tumblr media
Look it's not that washing your hands is ever going to be bad advice. We have all enjoyed the relative lack of shitting 'n' puking bugs recently. But THIS BITCH IS AIRBORNE. It's not even just big droplets (that we all got a bit overconfident about because the recommendations came from an old TB study and TB is a pretty weird disease); it's also aerosols. Putting the pointless hygiene theatre in the same list as stuff that actually works just undermines the whole damn list and gives people the wrong idea about how it actually spreads. (If I see one more maskless person diligently cleaning door handles in a windowless space I'm gonna lose it.)
More worrying is the stuff that's missing. Where is "work from home if you can"? Where is "get tested"?
Tumblr media
Whoop, there it is. Excuse me, my good bitch, but what seems to be the FUCK? Yes, you should get tested if you have been exposed to a disease, my siblings in Baphomet, how is this even a question?!?!?!
Okay yes there are concerns about the false-negative rate on LFTs, and people wrongly taking a negative LFT during the incubation period as a green light to go and cough on a granny. There are arguments for waiting until day 3-5 to test to reduce the risk of this. But you should still get tested! These are not concerns unique to coronavirus and you can bear them in mind and interpret the results accordingly. But if Schroedinger's Covid becomes Yes Definitely Covid, you do need to know that and react accordingly.
It sure as hell shouldn't be in the "don't" list. It's not going to do any harm or set back your progress. The "don't" list should be reserved for things like "go to unnecessary indoor events for the next ten days". It belongs in a "this is a really good idea but the government won't support you, soz" list along with working from home. What they mean is "you should do this but we're not going to recommend it because then we'd have to address the question of why we withdrew free testing and that would be awkward." Fuck's sake.
Overall having advice this shitty and not being honest about why is an ongoing threat to public health. It just furthers the idea "they don't know what they're doing" and "they keep changing their minds", which makes people less likely to listen when the next wave or disease tears through. Yes Omicron is half as lethal as Delta but it's four times more contagious and I don't always maths good but that equals twice as many deaths. It's not over.

OMICRON – Another Threat | Vivid Diagnostics
Coronavirus has been giving an exciting ride to the whole world beginning around 2019. However the world is attempting to fully recover with the new standards, either variation of this infection keep us in distress. At present Omicron , one more variation after Delta is spreading its message and fear in the world. This variation is currently unleashing ruin across the planet.
Omicron - Another Variant of Covid-19 The danger of Covid-19 is as yet drifting in the world, as its variations. After Delta, it is Omicron now. It could be milder according to the early discoveries yet there is as yet significant vulnerability in regards to Omicron and examination still can't seem to assess its contagiousness, seriousness and re-disease risk. Consequently it can't be proclaimed as a gentle variation. Omicron is exceptionally irresistible and spreading more rapidly than different variations. We as a whole must be extremely cautious. Forestalling the spread of this variation is fundamental as well as decreasing the gamble of openness to Omicron.
One ought to be appropriately veiled out in the open spots. This variation has been delegated a variation of concern (VOHC) by WHO. It is too soon to say that it isn't a lot of serious however the underlying reports say that Omicron is less extreme when contrasted with Delta. This doesn't imply that we don't avoid potential risk. Omicron can influence weak populaces, implies, individuals with basic circumstances, matured people and children. Regardless of whether we feel that Omicron isn't that deadly, then, at that point, additionally we as a whole need to take similar level of safety measures as we had been taking during the episode of the pandemic. In this way, the most ideal way is to receive any available immunization shots and follow the new standards of the general public
