Transitioning from full-time retail work to a career as an educational assistant at a school was undoubtedly a significant change for me. However, even with my reduced hours in retail, I quickly realized that the valuable lessons learned during my years of working in customer service continue to shape and enhance my professional growth. In this blog post, I will delve into how my background in retail has proven to be an invaluable asset in my current role and beyond.

1. Effective Communication Skills:

One of the key takeaways from my retail experience is the ability to communicate effectively. Whether it's interacting with customers or collaborating with colleagues, strong communication skills are crucial. My time in retail taught me how to listen actively, empathize with others' concerns, and express myself clearly and concisely – all traits that have been invaluable when assisting students with their unique needs and facilitating effective teamwork among educators.

2. Adaptability and Resilience:

Working in retail often meant dealing with unpredictable situations and challenging customers. This environment forced me to learn how to adapt swiftly while maintaining composure under pressure. These skills have proved essential when faced with unexpected situations within the school setting, such as handling emergencies or adapting lesson plans on short notice. The resilience developed through countless encounters with demanding customers has helped me remain calm and focused during high-stress moments.

3. Customer Service Excellence:

Customer service lies at the heart of any successful business, including schools, where parents and students are our valued "customers." My previous retail experience ingrained in me the importance of providing exceptional service by going above and beyond expectations. This mindset now translates into ensuring that every interaction I have within the school community is characterized by attentiveness, understanding, and dedication.

4. Problem-solving Abilities:

Retail work constantly presents challenges that require creative problem-solving skills. From resolving conflicts between customers to finding alternative solutions when faced with product shortages, I honed my ability to think on my feet and find practical resolutions. These problem-solving skills are transferable to my role as an educational assistant and other areas of my life, where I encounter various obstacles daily, such as addressing behavioral issues or adapting teaching approaches to accommodate diverse learners.

5. Time Management:

One of the most valuable lessons from working in retail is understanding how vital efficient time management is. Balancing multiple responsibilities simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines is a skill developed through years of organizing inventory, handling customer requests promptly, and managing shifts effectively. This proficiency has proven invaluable in juggling the demands of both my school job and part-time retail position without compromising quality or effectiveness in either.

While transitioning from full-time retail work to a career in education was a significant shift for me, it's clear that the experiences gained during my time in retail continue to shape and enhance my professional growth today. From effective communication skills to adaptability, resilience, and problem-solving abilities, the lessons learned have seamlessly integrated into my educational assistant role, providing me with a unique perspective and a well-rounded skill set. NEW 2023 Furby prototype

hello furby friends, so perhaps the Biggest break in furby in almost that past 7 years which is WILD to think about, but a prototype for a new line of furbys leaked this morning on ebay at around 8am cst.

AGAIN this is wild, but is shows renwed interest from hasbro in the furby line. but first a general description,

So, bellow are the photos. 

The furby is an early run electroics prototype, these are can be very close to the final design, with the cosmetic proto being handed over for electronic prototyping.  the wires (as far as I can read) are as follows

Motor Ir encoder Microphone Left ear led Right ear led Back cap Front cap Sw & led Spear Mouth sw (switch) Neutral

So it apears they are going somewhat functionally similar to a 1998. this is also shown in the fact that they are using the og 1998 logo on the bottom. 

The board also reads 5-5-2022, so it is for sure recent. 

further into the cosmetics, it apears to be simialr to their fuzzalots brand. 

So it seems thats the direction that they are going in. which to me is... disapointing 

SO what adds to this story is the fact that Hasbro was alerted shortly after to the listing and were VERY interested. showing the first public interest directly in the furby brand in years. 

the ebay listing was the struck down less than an hour later

it was orginaly on auction for $50 then relisted, 

so overall. today has been a very interesting look into Hasbro playing around with a more modern furby... just observing the similarites to fuzzalots if this furby is released, it will retial for around 10-15$ which i think is a good price point, however I think that fans would prefer a more direct homage to 1998s, for those of you in the same boat as me, I think that the best we can hope for is hasbro having gone in a diffrenet direction, And with hasbro pushing their toy appearnce back, I suspect we will see an annoucment in mid september which would be just in time for the 25th aniversery. I will try my best to attend the toyfair in person or online and I will keep you guys updated.

my reblogs over the past few days have probably made it clear but i just felt like making a pinned post.

part of the appeal of furbies for me is that they aren't for everyone. as someone who feels weird and different and alone, furbies feel like a kindred spirit.

and as much as i personally am not a huge fan of the appearance of our new friend 2023 furby, i don't want to see furblr encourage hate towards the furbies and especially not towards those that love them! we can't all be weird and different in exactly the same way, i welcome any and all types of weird lil guy!

I like L being a Funny Foreigner type because I think his relationship with Light would be just that much more interesting. Imagine L bringing Light an umbrella on a rainy day at university and only being kind of aware of the implications of two people walking under an umbrella while Light is internally going mad because he is realizing he has a thing for this weirdo. Picture L trying to pull out the British Pinkie while drinking from a yunomi and Light trying not to bark out loud with laughter. Dig the image of L replacing the mikan on top of the kagami-mochi with a chocolate orange. Think of L Lawliet eating all the chitose ame his and Light's child gets on Shichi-Go-San.

i just want to emphasise how crazy it is that samdean don’t need or even really want (at times) any external relationship outside of each other. developing different kinds of human relationships with different people is a huge part of growing as a person. and they just-don’t. even when they have the choice and chance to do so-they just choose not to. they really fulfill each other’s every need and that is so. it’s so sick how insular they are and even more so, in some ways, how content they are in that.

In light of me being obsessed with House saying he started to see Benny as a son, House is a hypocrite in calling Yes-man a vanity project cause while Vegas is clearly his vanity project with all his plans for it, there’s something more subtly vain about trying to rewrite and recreate an hypothetical heir in his image that he clearly would’ve done with Benny as he does it with you.
