There is a car

It is morning, and I wake up thirty minutes late.

Something about my drawing feels off , i only got into digital drawing few weeks ago and I'm stuck at the same point and lost .. any advice?

mmm okay first of all this is really good- first impressions-wise, the proportions and anatomy look very solid so there are no major glaring issues so to speak

if you were to ask me, what i think this artwork needs is that sort of 'volume' or depth that most beginner digital artoworks lack. You can achieve this sort of volume in two ways depending on the style you are going for: either by improving the lineart, or by treating the lines just as part of the sketch and painting over them for a more.. ''painterly/rendered'' look if you want to keep the lineart in, what i suggest is adding some "line weight" so that the artwork doesn't look so flat. What i mean by this is to thicken the lines where body parts would naturally overlap (like the neck and shoulder, the nostrils area, the corners of the mouth as well as the tip of the lips etc) and where shadows would normally be for the illusion of volume. After that, i'd also add more shadows and color variation in the colouring layer so that the skin looks more lively and again, for that volume. You can do it with some dark blue or orange on a multiply or an overlay layer, just experiment a bit with colors and blending modes. If you want a more messy/painterly look (which is more down my alley or in line with my artstyle), what i'd personally do is i'd create a new layer on top of everything and just paint over the lines with broader strokes and a darker color in an attempt to add some volume to the shapes and to make the artwork look more cohesive and less "digital" because at the moment, i can tell that it is made up of a Lineart layer, then a Colouring Layer below, that very religiously follows the lineart layer and then maybe a layer on top of that for the other colors and the hair. This is a very common digital art process and a good one to keep in mind but a little secret i can give out that i've noticed in 80% of the artists who have this sort of drawing process is that they will always, always merge everything in one layer at the end and adjust things as they go. They will not keep the layers separated and just never revisit them in the process, despite what it may look like. There will always be something that needs fixing and they will fix it as they go so i suggest doing the same and being a bit more "freeform" with your layers

Anywayss, besides that, I'd also introduce some color variation like in the previous method. As a general tip, try to move the color slider around and don't just shade with a darker variation of the base color. I like how the hair is painted and the shine and everything, it looks very good and everything is pretty much set in place, i'd just render it even more, make it More voluminous. It's just missing a little pop a color: i'd add some blueish gray hues in the brown hair and for the purple hair i'd make it more rich by adding some deep dark blue hues and some faint yellow highlights (bc purple and yellow are complementary colors blabla) As for the shape, think of the hair as chunks of volume that reflect light and that are also affected by gravity.. or as spaghetti if u like flat hair like me bsjsjd That's all i could think of; Again, it's very good and promising considering you started just a few weeks ago, so keep going at it! I hope it was at least somewhat helpful and that i wasn't being too technical with the wording (and that it made sense)

Abusers, ideologues, and other terrible people are not masterminds. They aren't born evil. They're not inherently smart OR stupid. They can love, they can be funny and polite, they do things they believe are justified and want to be good people. They don't think of themselves as villains.

Evil isn't complex. It's really, really not. I feel like that's the #1 cause of confusion when I get a question like, "Why does this person do this malicious act, when it's bad/inconsistent/mean?" The answer is always simple;

They wanted to control someone.

They wanted something and didn't mind who they hurt.

Spite and short-sightedness.

Look for anything deeper and you will not find it. Heroics are complex, being a good person is ongoing and changes over time. We're in a constant state of growing. Malice is childishly simple; it feels good to get what you want.

With Bramblestar especially... it always goes back to what I said here, when talking about the idea of an Evil!Bramble. He's a person, and you ruin everything that's so interesting about him by stripping away that nuance. Squilf and Bramble loved each other, truly, and legitimately. He can be charming. He can be nice. He still hurts her. Reconcile with this.

tbh i don’t agree with the critique that seyka is a “carbon copy” of aloy. her quickness to anger, unyielding self-reliance, and cheeky arrogance are all things we’ve seen aloy grow out of because of her friends. and her humor, warmth, and skill are hardly unique to aloy.

i agree there’s not a ton that sets seyka apart from aloy or the other companions beyond circumstance. but what does stand out to me is how seyka questions and challenges aloy from the start. and she does it in a way where aloy can’t shrug it off or plow ahead with her own plans (a la the bulwark or leaving varl and erend behind). aloy is never in a true position of authority or power with seyka, and that’s in large part because of seyka’s personality and self-assurance.

if you’re gonna call seyka a mary sue, a flawless, overly positively portrayed character, don’t you kind of have to do that to almost all the sympathetic characters? the things that make the others interesting are the circumstances they’re in and how they react to them or grow. not necessarily their opposition to aloy or their own personal flaws (with the exception maybe of sylens, beta, nil, and tilda)

i get why some people don’t find her compelling, but if the only reason is that she’s too similar aloy or too perfect (??) i don’t think we played the same game?

at the end of the day it seems like these critiques are aimed at increasing retention, clicks, new viewers, blah blah blah

it ignores george's own personality and style that we love, the details he included that his community had begged for (e.g. patches), the fact that he was documenting some of the most important moments of his life

yes youtube is a job that people want to do well at but let's not forget the creative part of content creation

creativity can mean taking risks, doing what feels right to you, including personal details, making things fun rather than polished, and speaking from the heart

george's heart shone through in that vlog - through the filming, editing, music choices, EVERYTHING - he was documenting a dream coming true and you could feel the love towards dream who he met for the first time, sapnap who he also finally gets to live with, and his audience who have been on this journey with him

no graph can demonstrate how much that video meant to george, to his best friends, to me, to so many others that watched it

this was a heartfelt video that george made to share a hugely important and beautiful moment in his life - I'll take that ANY DAY over soulless content specifically manufactured to please an algorithm thank you very much

i'm not super into star trek novels and the beta canon and whatnot but i'm so glad that i read Last Best Hope because it really makes Picard s1 infinitely better on rewatch (and i say this as a Picard enjoyer/defender). like 100% recommend if you're even a little bit interested in Picard era worldbuilding.

#i feel like a lot of people complain on tumblr complain about the star trek universe being too static and milquetoast liberal #and then completely ignore picard s1 and s2 #(and a decent bit of discovery for that matter)#where some pretty massive changes happen in universe that are SO INTERESTING #and we get to see complex politics and character drama and stuff that feels MEANINGFUL #and it feels like realistic fallout from the changes the federation went through in ds9 during the dominion war #and yes it is darker and not as optimistic as tng era but imo every season is hopeful in different ways #(synths being accepted by starfleet. the jurati!borg turning the borg into a healing force. s3 healing broken bridges between characters)#i'll always prefer the longer more episodic shows just because i feel like we know the characters better and i have my critiques about #every season of picard #but on a whole i really love it #i just wish we could get more of the characters and politics and worldbuilding without defaulting on “the galaxy is in danger!” plots #star trek picard #my posts
