Imaginez un mélange de JM Barrie et Lewis Carroll, avec un soupçon de Charles Dickens pour la misère victorienne et une distribution stellaire qui comprend Angelina Jolie, David Oyelowo et Michael Caine, et vous commencez à entendre "Come Away", une reprise engageante de " Peter Pan »et« Alice au pays des merveilles ». Ici, la scénariste Marissa Kate Goodhill imagine que Peter et Alice sont frères et sœurs, élevés dans la maison de campagne idyllique de Rose et Jack Littleton (Jolie et Oyelowo), parents aimants qui élèvent Peter, Alice et leur frère aîné, David, pour être Créatif. et les esprits libres. Si le matériel thématique de «Comment Away »peut être parfois difficile et long (le film traite de la mortalité, de la dépendance et des dysfonctionnements familiaux, entre autres angoisses), Chapman l'anime avec les belles couleurs et textures du temps, en s'inspirant des motifs floraux de William. Morris sur les murs de Littleton, les velours et la dentelle extravagants portés par Rose et sa sœur affectée Eleanor (Anna Chancellor, dans sa forme la plus glorieusement imposante). Il y a des moments où la spéculation fanfique de "Come Away" semble très forcée et complètement absurde; l'intrigue probablement inévitable devient sommaire et l'état presque constant de la pensée magique trop collant et doux pour les mots. Mais la société est anoblie par le sens du style de Chapman et par une large gamme de performances, en particulier de Jolie et Oyelowo, ce dernier des producteurs du film. Comme Away, il n'est peut-être pas comparable aux histoires auxquelles il se réfère, mais il brille avec sa propre lumière illuminante et aspirante. PG. Disponible sur demande. Il contient de forts éléments thématiques matures, de la violence, une action fantastique et des images inquiétantes. 94 minutes. Brenda Chapman (Prince of Egypt, Brave) fait ses débuts en tant que réalisatrice avec cette comédie un peu charmante qui gagne de nombreux points pour avoir placé des acteurs non blancs dans des rôles traditionnellement inversés. Come Away (à ne pas confondre avec le récent Come Play) imaginez ce qui aurait pu se passer si Alice au pays des merveilles et Peter Pan avaient été frère et sœur. Alice (Keira Chansa) et Peter (Jordan A. Nash) partagent une enfance imaginative avec leur frère aîné David (Reece Yates), jouant aux pirates et buvant du thé; des épées et un bateau pirate remplacent comme par magie des bâtons et une vieille barque brisée. Ils aiment leur mère Rose (Angelina Jolie) et leur père Jack (David Oyelowo), qui vit en construisant des maquettes de bateaux. Malheureusement, une tragédie se produit, Rose commence à boire et Jack commence à jouer (et perd une vente importante), et c'est à Alice et Peter d'apporter un héritage familial spécial à Londres pour vendre et sauver la famille. Là, ils rencontreront de nombreux personnages et verront beaucoup de choses qui deviendront des éléments des célèbres livres de J.M. Barrie et Lewis Carroll et les fans s'amuseront à relier les points. Comme Away, il décolle plusieurs fois du sol, mais ne monte jamais trop haut; cela semble un peu sans magie. Mais ça vaut le coup d'œil et probablement mieux que Wendy de Benh Zeitlin plus tôt cette année. Gugu Mbatha-Raw apparaît comme Alice adulte dans un dispositif d'encadrement. Pour certains, la perspective que l'ancienne réalisatrice de Pixar Brenda Chapman ("Brave") fasse ses débuts en direct rendra "Come Away" passionnant. Pour d'autres, c'est le concept littéraire du film qui séduit: et si Alice au pays des merveilles et Peter Pan étaient frères? My AP French Summer Assignment

Please read through my report and correct me where ever I am wrong! This report is worth two test grades on the first day of school and I want to do well on it for when I take my school’s highest French level. Also I just want to learn what i did wrong so I won’ do it again! Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Here is a link to my actual project, but just in case the link doesn't work I'll just copy and paste it here. The link is the whole formatted and fancy version, but what is below is just going to be the text I have written for the report. The assignment was to choose a topic out of the tree options we were given and I chose the music one. I was supposed to research new French music and then write a report about the band or singer(s) that created the song. I know this song features another artist but we were told that it was okay not to include a featured artist because out teacher is looking for us to expand out writing skills as well as discovering new music.

L’histoire de Maître Gims

Maître Gims il est né en Kinshasa, République Démocratique du Congo. Son vrai nom est Gandhi Djuna et son anniversaire est le 6 de mai 1986. Lui et sa famille ont déménagé en France quand il avait deux ans. Il est connu dans le monde entier, mais il est le plus célèbre dans les pays francophones. Sa carrière a commencé en 2002 quand il a rejoint un groupe appelé, “Sexion d’Assaut.” Le group a préformé des chansons de rap et de hip hops. Maître Gims a débuté en tant que soliste en 2013 mais a sorti sa première chanson solo en 2006. Son premier album solo s’appelle “Subliminal” et c’est la chanson la plus populaire est “J’me Tire. ” D’autres chansons de son sont "Bella,""Habibi," "Tout donner," "Tu vas me manquer," et "Est-ce Que Tu M'aimes?"

Faits Uniques Sur Maître Gims

1. Il a fondé une étiquette de musique appelée "Monstre Marin Corporation."

2. Ses trois frères, Dadju, Bedjik, et Xgangs, ils sont aussi des rappeurs. Aussi, son père était un chanteur congolais avant sa mort.

3. Il s'est marié jeune et a quatre enfants.

4. Il s'est vu refuser la citoyenneté française parce qu'il était encore marié à une femme qui vivait au Maroc avant d'épouser sa femme actuelle DemDem en 2005. La polygamie est illégale en France, de sorte que sa demande de citoyenneté a été rapidement rejetée.

5. Il s'est converti à l'Islam avant de se remarier.

Since I came back to London, Kate Bush whispered to my headphones that I have to walk and dance with somebody in the woods. So I have to take my mates to North London to embrace the atmosphere of a legendary music video.

Depuis mes retrouvailles avec Londres, Kate Bush chuchote à mon oreille que je devrais aller danser dans les bois. Alors j’ai pris ma team sous le bras, vers le nord de la ville pour frôler au plus près l’atmosphère mythique d’un clip.

I know it’s time for me to give up Frenchness and to feel the real British music feeling. Listen I was not there for ages not to play hide and seek but just to experiment deeper how the pop music heritage was still alive nowadays – and sometimes in a very unexpected way.

I know it’s time for me to give up …la “francitude” afin d’épouser au mieux l’esprit britannique. Je n’étais pas sur le terrain depuis longtemps que je sentais déjà très profondément l’héritage de la musique pop et même d’une façon très inattendue.

Let’s take Kate Bush for instance: one night, we jump into a venue for a special indie rock party. Between the Arctic Monkeys and Blur, a skinny woman-like figure erupted on stage. With a red-energy move, she asked for a choreographic moment joined by the whole audience, letting the poor Frenchies (that we actually were) a bit astonished.

Prenez Kate Bush par exemple. Un soir, vous vous engouffrez dans un club pour une soirée 100% indie rock. Et entre les Arctic Monkeys et Blur, une frêle silhouette efféminée se fraya un chemin sur scène. Avec une énergie ardente, elle demanda un titre fort chorégraphié et aussitôt rejoint par l’auditoire, laissant les pauvres Français que nous étions, un peu effarés.

Years after the charity tribute by Noel Fielding and the dancing reunion birthday in South London, I took my girly gang onto this Bushy adventure. Mon duo formidable de femmes complémentaires : d’un côté Kelly, experte en mode, toujours à la recherche de l’histoire parfaite et d’un style vestimentaire à tomber, de l’autre, Alice, l’oeil habile capable de trouver le moment idéal pour figer et capter l’univers entier. Ce duo a su réaminer les années 70 en 2018. Et cela fut assez facile notamment grâce à ces robes lumineuses et vaporeuses !

The most eccentric thing was to learn the non academic dance. It sounds, now, like a tribute to Lindsay Kemp, who inspired the singer so much during David Bowie‘s gig in West London (the kind of gig who revolutionized people’s lives, like the Sex Pistols‘ show in Manchester, ask Joy Division for more details^^) and who taught the singer a new world of expressions through one single word. We tried to be at the level of this rolling routine even if sometimes, the non sportswomen we are have to give up some acrobatic moves. (Maybe our older age than the singer discovered by David Gilmour from the Pink Floyd is the key answer.)

L’élément le plus excentriqu fut d’apprendre ces mouvements non académiques. Cela ressemble, surtout maintenant à un hommage à Lindsay Kemp, celui qui inspira tellement la chanteuse notamment lors du concert de David Bowie dans l’ouest de Londres (le genre d’événement aussi révolutionnaire que celui des Sex Pistols à Manchester, demandez à Joy Division, ils vous raconteront…). Celui aussi qui apprit à l’artiste une nouvelle forme d’expression sans prononcer le moindre mot. Nous avons essayé d’être au niveau même si les non sportives, que nous sommes, ont dû renoncer à quelques mouvements trop acrobatiques. (Peut-être notre âge, un brin plus élevé que celui que la femme-orchestre découverte par David Gilmour des Pink Floyd, est un élément de réponse.)

I was even about to forget the high emotional level of the song. Helped by a French teacher friend visiting the city, we tried to explain Emily Brontë’s story and philosophy, even if the artist had been struck by Wuthering Heights – not in paper but via screen – astonished by the last 5 minutes of a black and white TV show. Because, on top of being extremely far away from central London, the director himself was not sure about the location of the shooting… Things will be more accurate next time (Yes There will be next times 😉 )

J’ai failli en oublier le niveau assez émouvant de la chanson. Avec une amie professeure de français de passage dans la ville, nous essayons de vulgariser l’histoire et la philosophie d’Emily Brontë. Bien que l’artiste ait plus été sensible à la version filmée, totalement captivée par les 5 dernières minutes d’une adaptation télé en noir et blanc. Tout cela à Hampstead Heath, totalement jaunie et desséchée par l’été caniculaire . Oh je sais ce que vous vous dites : “pourquoi ne pas avoir choisi Box Hill?” En plus de sa distance vraiment extrême, le réalisateur du clip lui-même n’était pas sûr du lieu du tournage… Mais la précision sera au rendez-vous la prochaine fois (oui car il y aura des prochaines fois..)

Spring Break in Paris

During spring break, more than a dozen International School of Beijing (ISB) high school French learners were immersed in Parisian culture.

Paris: home to the Tour Eiffel – that's how many people tend to see it. However, Paris is more than the first monument that comes to mind; it is a multidimensional city of flourishing culture. The Champs-Elysées, Notre Dame, and Arc de Triomphe were understandably packed with tourists of all nationalities. These monuments were only the tip of the iceberg, with many more museums and masterpieces packed into our busy schedules. After all, they are a couple of the most well-known monuments in the world. Fortunately, we did more than just skim the surface of this beautiful city. From strolling the streets of the 14th district to buying secondhand books at a streetside vendor, we had an authentic Parisian experience. Daily lessons in the mornings with local French teachers were accompanied by eye-opening experiences in the evening, such as cooking traditional French cuisine with professional chefs. Perhaps the most enchanting experience of all was the Bateaux Mouches! Being able to view Paris on one of the most famous rivers in the world was amazing. Together, we got to witness the stunning sunset and the shining city lights. The already-alluring Tour Eiffel was ablaze with golden light and the Pont Neuf was as majestic as our elementary school teachers made it sound. Due to the regular need for communication with the locals in their native language, our understanding of the culture and language expanded in a way that would be impossible from our classrooms, thousands of miles away. Having had the opportunity to experience Paris from both a touristic and local point of view, the city simply became more captivating. Our internationally-based lessons at ISB gave us the chance to appreciate this city so much more, desperate to finally live through all these experiences we hear of in the classrooms. Overall, the trip was as exciting as anticipated. If you're planning to visit Paris this summer, we strongly suggest the Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre, and Sainte Chapelle. Oh, and don't forget to clear your phone storage space! Trust us – you'll need it!

Paris - la ville d'amour. C'est comme ça que la grande majorité des gens la voient. En réalité, Paris est beaucoup plus qu'une ville avec beaucoup de monuments célèbres. C'est une ville de culture immense, avec pleins d'histoires et d'aspects fascinants, remplis de touristes venus du monde entier,se pressant sur les Champs-Élysées, devant la cathédrale de Notre Dame et bien sûr à l'Arc de Triomphe. Déambulant du quatorzième arrondissement où nous avons séjourné jusqu'au cœur de Paris , marchant sur les boulevards chaque jour, nous étions biens épuisés mais cultivés ! Chaque matin, nous avons eu des cours de français avec une prof de la célèbre université de la Sorbonne, puis chaque soir, nous avons fait des activités variées comme une croisière en Bateau Mouche, ou la préparation de plats traditionnels français avec des chefs professionnels. Tous ensemble, nous avons eu le plaisir d'être témoin de superbes couchers de soleil sur la ville -lumière. La Tour Eiffel brillait de mille feux, et le Pont Neuf était aussi impressionnant que nos guides et professeurs nous l'avaient dit . Parce que nous devions communiquer avec des Parisiens dans leur langue - le français - notre compréhension de la culture et de la langue s'est étendue bien au-delà des murs de notre salle de classe, située à des milliers de kilomètres... Avoir la chance de découvrir Paris sur le plan touristique et culturel a rendu la ville encore plus captivante. Nous avons pu mettre en pratique toutes les connaissances apprises dans nos classes, et faire enfin la rencontre de cette ville vraiment magique.

Au final , notre voyage s'est avéré aussi incroyable qu'à la hauteur de nos attentes.
