Have an assortment of Mystic Force headcanons that I've accumulated since I started rewriting CoD/CoL (now known as Emergence and ???):

Madison is an unabashed niche horror movie aficionado. This always surprises people, but she could talk about early 90s SOV, giallo, or the evolution of the slasher film for ages.

Her happy place in Briarwood is an old movie shop. They know her by name there, and always have recommendations among the new finds.

Briarwood itself is a super hippie town. Drum circles in the park, vegan bakeries, a huge pride parade every year. They're on the forefront of both marriage equality and cannabis legalization, even by California standards.

Nick has lived EVERYWHERE. His parents moved for work constantly, and so he and his sister have lived on every continent except Antarctica.

Xander and Chip are incredible cooks. Nick is pretty good too. Maddie is passable, and Vida is a complete disaster. Do not let Vida near a kitchen.

Leelee inherits the Vampire Queen throne after Necrolai/Nikki is turned human. She's surprisingly good at it. After some bumps, her rule becomes an unparalleled time of peace for vampires.

After high school, Chip tries a million things, and he's pretty successful at most of them. He takes over his uncle's farm, starts a meadery, does freelance alchemy, runs the local COUNTV chapter, and helps train new knights and wizards, and that's just the everyday stuff.

Leelee works to improve human-vampire relations, and teams up with Chip to help smooth things out. He begrudgingly helps, but warms up to it eventually.

Maddie and Xander are the only ones of the core 5 to go to college. Maddie studies film and Xander gets a business degree (so he can manage Chip's constantly-growing sprawl of ventures).

Vida goes on tour. She wins her first Grammy a year or two later, and eventually goes the Trent Reznor route of scoring films. It starts with Maddie asking for help with a hard-to-score film and spirals from there.

Nick gets taken on as an apprentice at a body shop. He's a prodigy with fixing things, especially vehicles, and when the owner decides to retire, Nick buys the shop off him. They mainly fix cars and motorcycles, but if you have something no one else can fix, he'll take a crack at it.

Maddie's first film does numbers on the smaller festival circuits; her second film is screened at Cannes and wins a Palme d'Or.

In Briarwood, everyone knows they're the Rangers, but the knowledge doesn't travel very far outside the borders. A few people know, but it's such an open secret that it almost never comes up. It's just a fact of life in Briarwood, so most people never really mention it.

Chip Thorn & Lauren Shiba character fic!

What's that? A completely new Power Rangers one-shot in the year of our lord 2024? You heard that right!

When working on the playlists for this series, I suddenly got hit by the similarities/differences between Lauren and Chip's stories in this 'verse, the ways that they reacted to the abuse they suffered as children, the hope they became, and the families they found, all while both being wrapped in fire/light symbolism. So I decided to do this little character study thing. It's not as much of a straightforward narrative as a lot of the other fics in this series, but I couldn't help myself from this pouring out. Welcome back to the madness!

Xander's first foray into the realm of BDS is facilitated by his beautiful partners. Vida is a dominant, Chip is her submissive. Xander sees this as a give-and-take on both their parts. Xander hadn't honestly expected that he'd want to touch himself at all, but when Vida started in on how pretty Chip looks, how good he's being... Oh, her voice got this sultry note, a beautiful tone, deep and smooth, and Xander feels it shoot straight to his cock. His hand works over his cock quickly, adding in a little twist at the top.

Vida glances over, a wicked smirk on her lips. "Such a good fucking girl," she continues, beginning to thrust her hips. "Letting Mommy use her like a little fuckdoll."

That hadn't been something Xander was prepared for either, but damn if it wasn't hot. Chip, again doesn't answer. Xander wonders if he can even hear Vida.

"You need to he used so damn badly, babydoll." Vida punctuates her sentence with a particularly deep and hard thrust. A strangled noise makes its way quietly from Chip's throat. Vida grins, victorious. "Fucking disgusting," she says.

Damn, if this is how the scenes go, then Xander might just join in next time.

After the defeat of Octomus, Chip Thorn tries a lot of things, and he’s pretty good at most of them. Freelance wizard, knight errant, alchemist-for-hire: you name it, he’s tried it, but the one most people don’t expect to stick is actual-play TTRPG content creation.

Given the timing of Mystic Force, he’s in a good position to get in on the ground floor and doesn’t even realize it when he starts. He just likes playing games with his friends, and records them so he can make sure he never misses anything. Putting them out as one of these new ‘podcast’ things makes sense when he’s already got all the audio and Vida offers to edit.

Of course it takes off - he’s creative, high energy, a really involved and thoughtful GM that seems to have an endless well of fantastical ideas to draw on. It’s word of mouth at first, but soon there are articles and blog posts and requests to livestream and the whole thing is spinning out of control too fast for even him to manage. That’s where Xander steps in, takes over production, and helps build an empire.

The Mystics all play, naturally; their entire first campaign is the five of them, nicknamed the Rowdy Rangers for their shenanigans at the table and an inscrutable in-joke about each multiclassing in Ranger. (Their character sheets do not reflect this and it’s a constant point of consternation among the fanbase to this day.)

They develop a bit of a retroactive fandom as their names grow; did you know Palme d’Or considered documentarian Madison Rocca also played D&D? Oh and what about her sister, 2007′s “Best New Artist” Grammy-winner Vida Rocca?

The buzz that really breaks containment stems from how Chip manages to get so many disparate, big-name folks to play at his table: pro motocross rider Dustin Brooks, director and stuntman Dax Lo, the highly entertaining and highly abrasive combo of Air Force Captain Taylor Earhardt and Silver Guardians Commander Eric Myers (they always play together), the list goes on and on. They all seem to get along like a house on fire despite having absolutely nothing in common, and Chip brings out the absolute weirdest, wildest, best in each of them, no matter how uncrackable they seem.

The fandom likes to joke that Chip is secretly a wizard (or maybe a bard) to get all these people to show up and play such incredible, heartfelt games together. A few anonymous posters online enjoy encouraging this rumor, maybe a little too much.
