As promised, here's another picture from the Lokal AU~ I made this on a whim last week after thinking about coconut drinks because they seemed refreshing. I ended up imagining an OC drinking it, and it made me think about having a warung as the location for the piece - it escalated from there!
I didn't draw that specific scenario, as you can see. I couldn't figure out the composition well enough. So, I reworked my idea and used an online 3D room maker to help figure out the perspective. I focused on my NRC quintet and kept the background characters abstract to simplify things. I wanted to get it done before the 17th~

if yall ever want like serious advice from me about how to solve burnout as a creative it's like...
literally ignore it. stop pushing. go do something else, enjoy your life, fill it with other things, do what brings you joy in the moment if you can.
go to the gym, take a walk to touch grass and look at dogs and smell flowers, cook dinner, watch tv with your friends, talk about your feelings as needed with ppl you trust, take a drive and blast your music, do the chores you need to do, the job hunting slog you need to do, read books that aren't for research, stop cordoning off your brain for The Craft or The Draft or whatever the fuck
forget about the project, stop thinking about it for as long as it takes to be excited again.
fuckin rest, basically

my brother got me this tumbler with a bunch of mushroom/fungus illustrations all over it and it’s the only tumbler I will accept in my life but the designer put one (1) graphic on it that’s actually a thalloid liverwort. no larger than a quarter on the actual product but I see it and I know

Bobbi’s searching for inspiration at the local chocolate milk shop, heading out to cook up a few new short story ideas with a friend. Unfortunately, this typically productive location has become quite distracting thanks to the seasonal arrival of pumpkin spice lattes, which Bobbi despises.
Hoping to seem cool and counteract the extreme basicness of this situation, Bobbi orders a cup of rock milk, but when she spots author Chuck Tingle at one of the café tables, Bobbi starts to wonder if rock milk was the way to go. After all, what’s so bad about people finding a little joy in a seasonal beverage?
Now Bobbi is wrapped up in a pumpkin spice experience of her own, culminating with a hardcore lesbian encounter that proves it’s okay to have a little fun sometimes.
This erotic tale is 4,100 words of sizzling human on sentient fall beverage action and lesbian pumpkin spice latte love.
----
new tingler THIS PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE GETS ME OFF IN A FUN AND SINCERE WAY BECAUSE IT’S OKAY FOR PEOPLE TO ENJOY POPULAR THINGS WITHOUT BEING SHAMED FOR THE PERCEIVED “BASICNESS” OF THEIR BEVERAGE CHOICES out now on amazon or patreon

my first reading in my African history class this year is about why using “tribe” to refer to ethnic groups stems from a racist desire to make African conflicts sound primitive or stemming from a desire to pretend that these are just ancient conflicts that have always existed. great article and I also feel like I’m vicariously experiencing the bullshittery that this author has been subjected to from people they’ve tried to talk to about this. like the article remains extremely professional but you can just hear in the tone that they’re talking through gritted teeth, you can practically see the customer service smile
[ID: a screenshot from a section of the article titled “But why not use ‘tribe’? Answers to common arguments.” Under the bullet point for the argument “Africans talk about themselves in terms of tribes” is written, “Commonly when Africans learn English they are taught that tribe is the term that English-speakers will recognize. But what underlying meaning in their own languages are Africans translating when they say tribe? Take the word isizwe in Zulu. In English, writers often refer to the Zulu tribe, whereas in Zulu the word for the Zulu as a group would be isizwe. Often Zulu-speakers will use the English word tribe because that's what they think English speakers expect, or what they were taught in school. Yet Zulu linguists say that a better translation of isizwe is nation or people.” /end ID]
translation: “ ‘Oh ho ho but some Africans themselves say tribe!’ You dipshit. You fucking donkey. When someone has a word that means “nation” or “people” in their own language but then when they learn English YOU TELL THEM IT TRANSLATES TO “TRIBE” then THAT WILL BE THE WORD THEY USE. Maybe if you LISTENED TO THE LINGUISTS OF THAT GROUP you’d have more accurate information. Asshole.”
each point is repeated over and over with like five different examples because you just know there are dipshits out there who will keep arguing.
to the anonymous author of this article for the Africa Policy Information Center I hope you have a good day every day and experience fewer people being assholes about this, your patience is actually legendary

Every day I’m haunted by the fact the boys happily swim in sewer water
Even if it’s filtered somehow there’s no way it’s not still nasty 😭 Bet they can defeat any of their villains just by accidentally giving them diseases I swear
