Whenever you’re in a fandom of any kind, please remember:

There is multiple right ways you can interpret something and being wrong doesn’t make you stupid and/or crazy.

The internet is horrible and your personal safe space is a myth, you will find something that upsets you and you have to accept that risk because fandom is communal and not a single house.

Porn exists, it will always exist, and unless law states that the way it’s presented is illegal and if it’s tagged well; it has the right to exist, the ice cream shop doesn’t just sell vanilla, fantasies aren’t subconscious wishes, dead doves aren’t a gateway drug and nobody is forcing you to eat dead dove flavored ice cream.

Nobody is anybody’s babysitter, if your child can’t read or doesn’t understand what they should and shouldn’t click on yet; they are not ready for the internet.

Problematic fiction is subjective, if you don’t like axes then don’t police the lumberyard, you are not ms/mr/mx morally right and your discomfort isn’t the universal guidebook.

Maybe and the morally grey are real things, yes or no and black or white are rarely if ever the case unless the law states otherwise and your emotions will never change that.

Do not let fiction become your reality, you have agency so take it if you must, stop eating the cake if the cake is making you sick.

Fandoms have long gone toxic: spaces have long become echo chambers and disagreements have long become life or death. You cannot damage control the entirety of fandoms but you can control your damage. Be kind online and other may eventually follow.

Hello, I'm not sure if you're aware, but tumblr is going to start helping midjourney gather data for their AI. You're one of the artists I follow here pretty actively and I wanted to warn you to maybe start nighshading your art before posting it here so it doesn't get swept up!

I've seen a couple of posts about it. Feeling disappointed but not that surprised. Also not excited about having to start nightshading/glazing my pieces but if there isn't going to be any serious regulations regarding data scraping and ai "art", there aren't a lot of choices.

Thank you for taking the time to warn me just in case, it was very thoughtful of you!

#from what I've seen the effectiveness of nightshade/glaze has been debated and I don't even pretend to understand how it works #but like watermarks it's at least some kind of preventive measure a token effort to stop your art from being stolen and misused #but I fear that if someone is determined to do it anyway chances are they will find a way unfortunately #this shouldn't be the reality of trying to share art online #it's a pretty dismal situation when this responsibility falls on the artists themselves #I've been here since 2011 I've lived through multiple tumblr apocalypses I'm not leaving unless they make this place wholly unlivable #and I don't think there are truly good alternatives with similar sense of community and as varied posting and customization options #it seems like every other major social media platform is doing this exact same thing if not worse #answered #ohdeergood #I'm tired we're all tired of this

Going into Alecto, I think it's important to expect that the series won't conclude with a clear lesson. Either about morality—what makes a good person, evil getting their just desserts, ect—or a thesis on decolonization. It's not that kind of story.

Deep down, this series is two drunk girls bearing their souls in a dark corner of the bar. An hours-long conversation that wheels wildly through pop culture, past trauma, theoretical physics, dreams and aspirations, global warming, hairstyling, friends, family, gender, personal insecurities, world history, favorite foods. It has a lot to say, and a lot of it profound, but it's not trying to teach anything. At the end of the night, the point was how fucking cool that girl was, and the potent electric potential for something lgbt to happen

what I was talking abt earlier. we have fully looped back around and away from feminism, societally, whereas before it was very Feminism 101 to acknowledge that many parts of existing as a woman in a misogynistic society are painful and upsetting. not that being a woman is Inherently Negative in a bubble. but that living on this earth, in the conditions we're living in, is hostile to women. and that gender is a performance. that many of the Staples Of Femininity as accepted by society are things that you have to create and perform and mold artificially and aren't inherent, that COMPLAINING about day to day difficulties of existing as a woman is something that you're allowed to do. acknowledging these basic, again, feminism 101 things, that something tied to womanhood is more time consuming or more expensive or more dangerous Because Of The Problems. does not CREATE the problems. that when women complain about having to perform femininity, they are not, in fact, oppressing themselves. the call does not come from inside the fucking house. saying that you HAVE suffered does not fucking equate that you believe you SHOULD have suffered.
