Happy Birthday Kankurou!

I don't have antyhing ready to post but here's a snippet of my current WIP!

Kankurou glances briefly at the clock on the wall. Three in the afternoon. In an hour or so, he’ll have to go and pick up Shinki from the Academy. It’d be good if he had a meal before then, or it won’t happen before dinner. (He famously isn’t above skipping a meal in favour of staying locked up in his workshop, but he’s been pestered enough about it to at least be aware he should not be doing that.) He is most likely not getting any more work done today. “Have you eaten?” “Not yet,” Baki answers. At least Kankurou is not the only maladaptive workaholic bachelor of the lot. That’s always comforting to know. “How do you feel about eating the Kazekage’s leftovers?”

Temari destroying a army of shinobi that came to attack their village. Baki, Kankuro, and Gaara watching from a distance.

Baki(staring in horror at the destruction): don’t know whether to be proud or terrified of her.

Kankuro(chill as ever): yeah you kinda trained her to be a monster in battle.

Gaara(nodding): that and her obvious issues with our father that seem to fuel some angry repressed burning fire within her dark soul.

Kankuro: good point Gaara, she totally has daddy issues.

Baki: you all have issues with your father though...

Kankuro(realizing): yeah, guess you’re right...

Kankuro joins in the fight.

Baki: why aren’t you joining them? You have the most issues with your father.

Gaara(lifts his arm): I am, but I don’t want to seem to eager about it.

A giant wave of sand began to block out the sun and bury the army.

Baki:...well I guess this is considered therapy.

In honor of Baki’s birthday, here are a few headcanons about him!

Baki Headcanons

Gender/Pronouns: Male (He/Him)

Sexuality: Doesn’t use a label because he doesn’t have time to think about it with all that paperwork he’s doing (its been a running joke that he’s villagesexual)

He always has some sort of candy in his pockets. It’s a habit that started when he instructed the sand siblings. He would give them candy to calm down and as a form of positive reinforcement.

He’s had trouble adjusting to the changes brought by the era of New Suna. Even so, he is happy change is being made.

He feels immense pride and love whenever the members of team Shinki refer to him as grandpa.

Somewhere among his bookshelves at home is a porn stash. It’s not his. It’s Kankuro’s. Baki has no idea its there. It’s been there for years and Kankuro forgot about it.
