Elliott art dump!

These pictures are quite mid so I decided to post a whole bunch of them at once. Back when I was starting Tumblr I really wanted as much likes as possible. Yeah. It’s cringe. But I’m a furry. I’m all cringe. It’s especially cringe because likes and followers don’t matter much on Tumblr. You’re never gonna make any money on here! Oh boy. Isn’t being disabled and incapable of work fun!

Well. Now I got some stability with responses. About four per non Squirrel and Hedgehog related stuff. In the past I would spit these three into separate posts. Thus gaining about 12 likes if I’m lucky all together. But now I will post them all together because I’m not such an attention whore anymore.

So now about these fellas. The first Elliott is actually the last one with the sea background. I wanted to impress with the best one so I put the latest one to show first. But this sea background one. He was an attempt at the jelly art style. I still have a long way to go, don’t I? He’s kind of cute. Though he could use more polish. They all could. He was supposed to be more realistic but after I finished the sketch I didn’t pay much attention to the reference photo. A lot of the time my painting don’t have the best of anatomy. That’s quite strange because anatomy in my sketches while not perfect is pretty good. My art teacher said that it’s because I get so engrossed in painting I forget to pay attention to it.

I did learn something on this piece though. Using the blend tool. I first block out under my sketch with a flat base paint. Then I add (lol I wrote ass by accident!) a clipping layer onto the flat base. There I do all the colours. Then I merge the base and the colours to blend it. Don’t forget to use alpha lock! Then merge that with the sketch layer on top. Blend away the lines. Switch off alpha lock and do the polishing.

Got all that? No? You didn’t understand a word what I just said? Ehm. Moving on.

The middle one. I quite like this one. Even though I didn’t do enough blending around the eyes so he got some sick eyeliner. By now you noticed that Elliott doesn’t look the most like his in game appearance. I really love the earlier designs. He’s just so dorky! I also base my head cannon version of him from the actor Haruma Muira. I’ve got a whole bunch written about my head cannon if you’re willing to scroll for two hours down my blog. There’s not much to say about this drawing. It’s sketchy. It works. I went lazy with the sweater. It turned out pretty good.

Now the top one. The eye catching furry version of Elliott. I drew him as antro lion before. But then I remembered that lions are supposed to have a collar like mane. Not just hair on top. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to make him a twink though!!! I did challenge @32girassoisdevangogh but it seems they chickened out! That or they have more important stuff to attend to…

@32girassoisdevangogh is not a chicken!!! They drew Elliott as both a lion and a Iriomote catand did and incredible job doing so! Really taught me not to do cheap jabs at people because they will make a big fool of you!!

INTERMISSION OVER!

So I changed the species to a Iriomote cat. Which works far more for the story I have for him. My head cannon is he’s a 2nd generation immigrant from the Gotoro Empire, which is like Stardew’s version of Japan in my head. Everyone thinks he’s white because though he has monolid eyes and bronzish skin (when he dares to go out his cabin) he still got ocean blue eyes and red hair. Iriomote cats do look like your usual street cat unless you look close. I won’t have him be a furry if I ever get around to writing the fanfic about him. I don’t want Zootopia 2 Bad Racism Allegory Boogaloo.

This picture looks… alright. I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to digital paintings. Do you have some suggestions for what I should work on? I draw in Procreate.

It is definitely a *very* contextual and nuanced thing. I'm on the fence about outright calling it a micro-aggression.

In a [very specific context], I do generally agree that it is... iffy at best. By "not trying to be cute"-- I'm assuming (please correct me if need be/genuine) you mean someone who hasn't expressed an "okay" to call them cute and isn't doing something for the purpose of being cute. Just checking because to me, it's very broad, and i just want to be sure I'm understanding.

And also depending on the history of how the person uses that word with others. Is it only Asian women they call "cute" in mundane contexts? Hopefully this makes sense.

I generally have a difficult relationship with the whole "cuteness thing." And "trying to be cute" vs. "not trying to be cute" is just a very confusing phrase for me because I don't often remember the times I've made the conscious effort to be or not to be cute until recently. And how others are to tell if I'm trying or not. So sorry. English and constructing concise words is not my strong suit, and I really hope I don't come off as rude! I genuinely wanna hear your thoughts.

You're not coming off as rude at all! And yeah this is a very nuanced conversation. I'm mostly coming from the perspective of a 2nd/3rd generation immigrant, whose watched a lot of my friend's hardwork get brushed off/devalued because they're Asian women, and are thus infantilized due to that.

I feel like the context of my post would probably make it more clear; I was watching an Asian American youtuber whose talked about not being taken seriously due to her being an Asian woman, and generally having her accomplishments and personality devalued because of it. -

- The thing is I scrolled down to her comment section and the top comment was "OMG THIS GIRL IS SO CUTE !!." When she was a.) a grown-ass woman, and b.) decorating her apartment (nature theme, nothing that would warrant "cute"). So it immediately set-off alarm-bells in my head to other times where my friends would be called "cute" for literally just existing. (Not including myself here cause it's happened to me personally very few times, since I've been butch my whole life.)

Also I didn't specify this because I didn't think it would be important, but I mean "cute" like "adorable." Not "cute" like "pretty."

With the "trying to be cute" thing, I meant in a way where a person is purposefully embracing childish/young aesthetics and behaviors to be cute. Or like, embracing cute culture if that makes sense? I bring it up because I've seen a lot of EA female content creators online being labeled "cute" even if they're doing the exact same thing as they're non-EA peers, who are almost never described that way.

That's just my relationship with the word though, where I've seen it been used enough times in an objectifying way where I consider it a micro-aggression, in some contexts. To me, it's just a good idea to stay away from using "cute" if you can use any other positive adjective.

I think what I'm trying to say is that it's people focusing on the appearance/stereotypes of Asian women rather than their actual identity or personality; ie objectification/orientalism.

I've grown up in a culture that has a long history of objectifying, westernizing, and commercializing Asian cultures into this fictional monolith; where removing Asian women of their agency is a huge part of that. So "cute" as a compliment, and as a label holds a lot of weight for me.

I'm happy to clarify anything else btw, hope this makes sense lol

justice of the supreme court is similarly hilarious, the republican’s wikipedia page casually mentions that they supported the minority opinion on a bill that would have supported the gerrymandering scandal that’s been happening in OH for a while, along with their father, the current governor who is also overseeing a huge scandal with the main electricity company here. the democrat is a 2nd generation puerto rican immigrant, Marilyn Zayas, who’s been quietly doing her law thing and working on the health and diversity committees in OH government for years.

am i easily swayed by left-leaning bias? yep. should I be using wikipedia as my main resource? nope. but listen, it’s a 4-page ballot. I’m trying, and the repubs aren’t exactly making it easy for me to want to vote for them lol.

Hi! I go by Kow! I’m a 2nd generation immigrant with ancestral ties to Jamaica. For occult knowledge and esoteric things I really want to meet practitioners tied with the West Indies. I put that first because it’s something I am very passionate about learning.

I don’t have a specific interest in the occult. I don’t follow any religion or practice. I’m kinda just spitballing nd vibing. I really enjoy divination. I want to be able to use them more. I use tarot to anchor messages. There’s too much nuance I can’t detect intuitively atm. I’m also learning astrology but It’s not anything I want to offer here. I like to discuss it but I’m not a reader in the slightest. I’m very go with the flow and personal with my readings and astrology is just too rigid for me. Which is why I respect astrologers so much.

Most of my posts will have a lot of black people or entirely Black. I don’t see enough of us on tumblr. I’ll probably have pics and stuff with other POC too. I also don’t like excessively posting thin people so I try to a add variety in that as well. I also include all identities too. All my posts (reading or not) reflect that! My posts are also color coded lmao it makes me frustrated if it’s not 😅 Aesthetics are very important to me. I also design most if not all the collages on my page! Including my header ;) I think I’m gonna change it soon tho.

On a more general note, I’m 21 years old, I graduated from college in May and it was a little…anticlimactic. I guess I expected life to change or something lol. My degree is basically how to do business in creative industries. Lmao I’ve been a business nerd since middle school. I work in social media (i promise it’s not that glamorous but i love it) I know ppl say business men aren’t born but swear to gahd I was - Which is the most frightening thing a child could have interest in.

I’m currently doing a lot of tarot and delving into the occult in a more serious note as I prepare the next sector of my life ig. I’m also bored. I’m not a very patient person lmao and simultaneously intolerant of things not meeting my expectations. Oddly high standards which I will probably find an astrological explanation a month from now 😂

I started posting on here about a month ago. I had a friend breakup so I guess I’m filling my time and motivations here. Now this blog is my hobby! You will realize soon that I love film and specially old Hollywood glamour. I love the 60s and generally anything that invokes the feeling of nostalgia. But I also like futurism literally any time period that’s not now…I love lmao. Oh, yea I’m a Rihanna stan. Because I didn’t go to art school I feel behind in those areas but I don’t think I would have made it through Art History. I like tho topic but….I don’t want to learn about white ppl all day. sorry for the delay in answering this i had to mull over how strange it was at first to have someone like analyzing my ethnicity or remembering aspects LOL but im going to assume possibly you're someone struggling with your own identity or smth??? and answer

but tbh if you're looking for help with rediscovering being jewish, i am not the one to ask and the reason for that will be clear below. if you need help reconnecting to indigeneity however, that's a different story.

long story, bc i weirdly am giving u way too much background info for an anon LMAO but a tldr is included

to begin, my ethnicity is as follows: norwegian, german, chatiks si chatiks, niitsitapi, and well, ashkenazi jewish

so, yes, i'm ethnically ashkenazi jewish on my maternal grandma's side (indigenous on my maternal grandmother's side as well, my great grandma was jewish, my great grandpa indigenous). however, i was not raised with the knowledge of it. i did some digging, talking to my my grandpa, my mom and my aunt's (who knew all along but are gen x'ers and a boomer, and just... didn't really care at all except my mom and one aunt who also felt kind of sad about it), and they all said the same thing: my great-grandma chose to whitewash us (and therefore didn't even tell her kids, including my grandma, until later in life) because her mother and father did as well, for mostly safety reasons, but also fitting in reasons, because where i live was where most germans settled. (like for example, my paternal ancestry is literally just norwegian and german. my dad is half norwegian and german lmao, my paternal grandma immigrated from norway, and my paternal grandfather's was like a 2nd-gen immigrant or smth, they came over quite awhile after my cousins side of the family came over a loooong time ago idfk it's stupid i dont really care about all that.) and it might be silly to some but it was important to my grandparents i guess, especially because one of my grandpa's was a general(??? something???) in ww2.

TLDR anyway, long story short, my grandparents hid who we are, didn't raise their kids as jewish neither in religion nor even by telling them their ethnicity til they were older. SO i don't feel comfortable claiming my jewish ethnicity? like... idk it is weird because since finding out i am jewish, i feel this weird sense of heartbreak that 1. i partially don't know who i am, 2. that my grandparents were so desperate to fit in they literally hid a major part of themselves, 3. i lost out on a lot of culture because they simply chose to omit this part of our lives, idk i could go on???

so while part of me wants to try and reconnect what it means to be jewish, there's another part of me that feels uncomfortable doing so, as if ... idk... like i'm not allowed? it's a much different feeling than being indigenous and reconnecting, especially because i grew up knowing i'm indigenous and already having bits and pieces of that culture.

and as for my indigeneity, there wasn't really any hiding the color of my great-grandpa's skin. even as our genes have been passed down through my family, while some of us (me, a few cousins) ended up white as hell (for me it's thanks to my snow-white scandinavian/germanic father) others, such as my sister, have my grandpa's complexion, his eyes, his hair. it's beautiful. it sounds privileged as hell to say this, because i understand i have white privilege to the max, but i am a lil jealous of my sister. she's just so beautiful in my eyes, and really represents the ancestry in my family. it's lovely to me.

Submitted by Anonymous Problem with "Westerners" is that some will include middle Europe to that, so that'll cause another layer of discussion and misunderstandings. Eastern Europe will be an exception to many, unless the people have no idea about the difference between Eastern and Western Europe. I've seen it used plenty to encompass parts of Europe as well, so even that isn't the best option. I wasn't saying that 1st gen, or even 2nd-3rd'etc diaspora aren't (their parents origin land)-American. It was more that someone who's actually literally has no ties to a place, shouldn't claim that they are from that place. If you DO have active parts in your ancestors roots, it's different, because it still is your culture as well. I just think that people who don't even know where a country on a map is, shouldn't claim to be X-American. Like when you see someone claiming to be Scottish-American, but said "Scottishness" was their great-great-great-great-great-grandpa and that their literally only "new" tie to any European heritage, which they just pay lip service to, and that's it. -I've seen/heard about these people coming to these countries, let's continue using Scotland, and trying to act like they're part of the culture and it's theirs, when it's very clear their only interest in the culture has been some weird fantasy version. Running around with fake Scottish accents, wanting a "family tartan" and then thinking Scottish people only run around in kilts eating haggis. So everything being very stereotypical. Versus a family who immigrated to the US, and do in fact keep an active part in their family heritage, but also their countries culture and heritage going actively. I will say though, that part of my belief here comes from, that I believe your skin tone doesn't stop you from being X-anything. You can be a Black-Swede, if you've become part of the lands culture, and you also view yourself as such, obvs more likely to be the case with people who are the result of their family living for a few generations on a country than the aforementioned 1st-generations, 2nd-3rd etc who might still consider themselves as being actively from the country they moved from.

It's actually been my experience that a lot of people only think of US, UK, and Canada when they hear 'The West'. The 'major' European countries (France, Spain, Germany, etc.) and Eastern Europe are typically seen as their own entities in those conversations. Though I can understand where the confusion would surge up for the perspectives of those who lump everything that's technically caucasian as one monolith. Even though that's it's own 'mm, maybe don't do that' can of worms.

Okay, now I get what you were coming across with that point. Yeah, I can agree especially since that's how I felt in regards to people who had spent all their lives going 'lol, Africa's a shithole; I saw it on this totally unbiased documentary' and then suddenly going 'yas, let's celebrate our strong African blood; Mother Africa~' just because they watched Black Panther.

BnHA Chapter 263: [Immigrant Song Intensifies]

Previously on BnHA: Ujiko sicced five Noumus on Miruko. Rephrase that: Ujiko sicced only five Noumus on Miruko. In hindsight this was obviously a mistake. Miruko proceeded to laugh and jump around kicking all of them and literally ripping the head off of the strongest one’s neck with nothing but her thighs. It was legendary and awe-inspiring and also she lost an arm but WHO EVEN CARES, I’m still pledging my allegiance to her. Miruko once beat the sun in a staring contest. Miruko’s calendar goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd, because nobody fucking fools Miruko. Anyway so also the heroes are finally attacking the League of Pliff’s HQ and Skeptic is running around all “AHHHH” so I guess we’ll see how that goes now.

Today on BnHA: Things finally get started over in Gunga, although for the time being most of the kids from 1-A and 1-B are still sitting around in the woods all pent-up and anxious and restlessly shipping KamiJirou. Meanwhile on the front lines, three-and-a-half-year-old Kaminari Denki is all “SOB I WANT TO BE BACK WITH MY FRIENDS WHERE IT’S SAFE”, to which Midnight, who I would just like to remind you is (1) an adult, (2) a teacher, and (3) a person responsible for this literal child’s safety in any number of other capacities, responds with “SORRY KIDDO WE NEED YOUR QUIRK.” I have yet to see any compelling evidence that they really do need it, but putting that dubious matter aside, Kaminari does kick some ass once he gets over his anxieties. Meanwhile Cementoss tears a building in half, Tokoyami reflects on how he was exposed to Kaminari’s good and pure moral character during their many soulful jam sessions, Hawks is about to kill Twice, and – wait, what.

a few stray thoughts since this chapter is taking forever to come out today. one, the good guys need to take out Twice and Toga as soon as they find them, because they’re currently the deadliest combination in the League. Twice for obvious reasons, and Toga because I’m pretty sure she got some of Aizawa’s blood that one time back during the Basement arc, and that fact coupled with the fact that she can now use the quirk of whoever she transforms into spells big trouble for the good guys since she can basically just cancel out whoever’s quirk she wants. plus she’s probably also immune to Midnight’s quirk. all in all bad news

two, it is interesting that Hagakure is the only 1-A kid we haven’t seen yet! probably just me overreacting, but still interesting!

(ETA: we do see her standing next to Mina in this chapter, so so much for that. you get out of it this time Tooru!)

and three, I’m not clear on whether or not Skeptic has actually figured out that Hawks betrayed them, or if he just suspects it, or if he thinks that Hawks leaked something accidentally and doesn’t realize that this entire time the dude was 100% playing them. I’m sure we’ll find out shortly. but regardless of how this plays out, I’m already dreading Twice’s reaction to all this :/ my sweet innocent baby. HE THOUGHT YOU WERE HIS FRIEND HAWKS. HE TRUSTED YOU. fff I really hope Twice’s inherently good and trusting nature isn’t a casualty of all this. then again I still think Twice himself is very unlikely to survive this. so basically I’m just bracing myself for pain sob

(ETA 2: by the way just to clarify, the above paragraphs were all written on Friday, and the rest of this recap+all ETAs were written the next day when I finally got to read the chapter! this is not important in any way whatsoever but now you know and that’s half the battle!)

“it’s time” holy shit finally lol. you all have been camped out over here for weeks now. not that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy each and every second of Miruko’s one-woman murder show, but it is nice to finally check in with you guys over here so we can get to work at last and I can get a better feel for who’s about to die. cuz someone here is dying guys

the chapter is called “I wanna be with the others!!” so. this is gonna be a Kaminari chapter isn’t it. I wonder what fresh new traitorous hijinks he’ll be getting up to this week. that detestable scoundrel

Mineta is being all weasel-y and reluctant, and honestly, I’m a bit annoyed. and for once it’s not directed at him! it’s like... how do I explain it. okay, so like, the manga is showing him being all cowardly and clearly not at all happy about being out here, and the fact that it’s Mineta doing it only adds to the general flavor of this being the wrong attitude to have and just a really shameful way of acting in general, because it’s Mineta and we all know Mineta is vile and so clearly he’s in the wrong here! the only thing is though, I actually don’t blame him even if he’s being a little shit about it, because the kids absolutely should not be here in the first place. are they strong? fuck yes. are they gonna end up being the ones to turn the tide once everything inevitably goes to shit, and thus the others are really goddamn lucky that they’re here? probably. does that make it right to conscript kids and send them out here to a soon-to-be war zone which the adults have very little control over meaning that some of these children will almost certainly be injured and traumatized and possibly even killed? nope! not right at all! no amount of “plus ultra” can justify this, folks. and “we get that it’s wrong but that’s just the fucked up times we live in” doesn’t actually justify it either, even if the HPSC seems to think so

but having said all that, there’s clearly nothing to be done about it at this point, and I’m about to enjoy this chapter of the kids presumably kicking ass even after all that whining, so I’ll just carefully climb down from my soapbox now. but I’m still keeping it handy just in case!
