cant tell you how bad it feels to constantly tell other artists to come to tumblr, because its the last good website that isn't fucked up by spoonfeeding algorithms and AI bullshit and isn't based around meaningless likes

just to watch that all fall apart in the last year or so and especially the last two weeks

there's nowhere good to go anymore for artists.

edit - a lot of people are saying the tags are important so actually, you'll look at my tags.

#please dont delete your accounts because of the AI crap. your art deserves more than being lost like that #if you have a good PC please glaze or nightshade it. if you dont or it doesnt work with your style (like mine) please start watermarking #use a plain-ish font. make it your username. if people can't google what your watermark says and find ur account its not a good watermark #it needs to be central in the image - NOT on the canvas edges - and put it in multiple places if you are compelled #please dont stop posting your art because of this shit. we just have to hope regulations will come slamming down on these shitheads#in the next year or two and you want to have accounts to come back to. the world Needs real art #if we all leave that just makes more room for these scam artists to fill in with their soulless recycled garbage #improvise adapt overcome. it sucks but it is what it is for the moment. safeguard yourself as best you can without making #years of art from thousands of artists lost media. the digital world and art is too temporary to hastily click a Delete button out of spite

ok, so I've restored some of my interest and delight in funny/odd adaptations of things. I just finished writing the calls to a line dance to test drama kids on stage directions, and it brings me joy that I am able to practice creativity thusly.

i delight in comedy from how stark expectation and reality can be. like change of setting or accent, change of tone. I delight in getting to disect comparisons and juxtapositions, analyze themes and all that jazz.

every time I talk about drama and art with my sister we get onto the topic of adaptations and how reviving a show (for example), has such possibility to bring new things to that piece. reinterpretation helps answer the question "how is this art still relevent?" and gives the opportunity to draw connections between multiple art forms, cultures, time periods etc...

for example, the adaptation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum into Wicked by Gregory Maguire offers a new perspective on the classic tale. it offers depth and commentary on morality, loneliness, politics... suddenly the "wonderful wizard" is seen as propaganda for an untrained man with an elevated ego. "wonderful" has a whole other meaning with the new context.

it makes me wonder why I went into math in the first place honestly...

If your still undecided about what modern au Machete would have as a job, I would like to nominate him as a niche fashion model. Not like a popular celebrity, because he's not conventionally attractive, but he has that aura. He can Walk (in heels!!!)

I want to give him an excuse to wear all different kinds of fancy clothes, basically. He deserves to be dressed to the nines and glare down at an audience from the runway.

#modern Machete is into fashion without a doubt #enough to dream about being a designer or a model or anyone in those circles #but I'm not sure he'd have the personality for it #I think you need to be at least passably sociable as a model right?#bold enough to put yourself out there but also humble and cooperative so people will want to work with you #and you have to be adaptable and stress-resistant to deal with long shooting days and travel #you gotta let hair stylists and makeup artists touch you and be somewhat ok with dressing and undressing with other people in the room #I tend to think his day job is something kind of boring and not glamorous at all but he's very good at it and it pays well #and he uses some of those paychecks to buy himself nice things to wear #but it was very sweet of you to think he could be a model he would've loved to hear that #answered #anonymous
