[can (and most likely will) contain SOME poly hcs!]

Younger David and Darlin' had a 'platonic confession' - as Milo and Asher put it - with each other (they confessed that they were besties for the first time)
Younger Darlin' was hella touch starved and tried avoiding it at all costs bc it made them feel weird; Darlin' now is constantly being touched and completely immune to it
Angel and Asher are VERY touchy feely, love language of physical touch havin asses
David and Baaabe are the cooks of the pack - Baaabe also makes snacks for pack meetings bc David's too preoccupied (Milo and Sam are good sous-chefs !!)
Sweetheart loves buying things and going to expensive ass restaurants with the pack (they're restricted for special occasions bc the pack doesn't want them going broke)
Angel and Baaabe met each other in college but never found out each other's names till later
Everyone is immensely protective over Sam (esp during pack meetings)
Sam and Darlin' stay getting cuddled and clinged onto bc they think that they're outcasts
Milo learned how to stitch at a young age so he could personally tailor some of his clothes shorter; he was embarrassed to get them done professionally
Angel likes wearing short clothes/bottoms so when their shoes untie, the pack's literally dolphin diving tying it for them so they don't have to bend down
David gets called 'mama duck' and he literally hates it
Someone always records whenever they all hangout for memories (I'd say Baaabe, David or Sweetheart)
Darlin' and Sweetheart are menaces when it comes to pissy chrissy, they love intimidating him (Darlin' looms over him and Sweetheart jumpscares him with cloaking)
Milo has a daily skin care/shower routine which is oddly complex
Angel spams the gc with David smiling when they catch him in a photo or to lighten the mood - everyone loves it
Angel got Asher hooked on cheek kisses (or vice versa)
Movie nights or sleepovers/camping go crazy
The pack has, at some point in time, all fallen asleep on or next to Sam (he's too comforting for his own good)
It's always Milo vs Asher till you bring Darlin' into the picture (2 against 1 and they still lose lmao)
Baaabe literally obliterates everyone at arcade games
David has his last name tattooed on the back of his neck; he says how they'll be his demise /j
Sweetheart stress cleans (twinninem)
Baaabe gives fantastic pep talks
Darlin' takes Angel out whenever they struggle with sleeping and don't wanna bother David (Asher sometimes goes too)
Sweetheart is the go to for missing stuff, they always manage to find it somehow
Sam lets the pack play with his hair
Angel got David to match fits ONCE and they were literally vibrating in excitement
The amount of 'embarrassing' old pack photos and videos that David hides is FEDERAL
Darlin' gives really nice hugs
The werewolves all shift and form a cuddle party, it's very cute (many photos for evidence)
Angel likes riling Darlin' up when their shifted and gets chased like a bat outta hell - they have literally mounted the rest of the pack tryna get away
Sweetheart always gives the pack's shifted forms head kisses before and after rubbing their heads
David won't admit it but he loves hanging out with Sam on the sidelines while everyone else is playing around (shifted)
Darlin' got assorted matching piercing with the listener mates (angel bites for Angel, gages for Baaabe and either a tongue piercing or snake bites for Sweetheart)
Milo gets picked up a lot for some reason - it only slightly pisses him off
They were all matching for the Summit, I might draw it to show what I mean
Sweetheart and Milo LOVE making and holding eye contact, they like how it flusters ppl (they always win staring contests/j)
Angel's super into interior designing, they interpret it thru minecraft bc I said so
Group therapy goes crazy/lh
I have so many thoughts abt them, I might have ta make a pt2 💪💪

there are two main things that i love in this life: genji and plushies… what if reader makes genji plush and shows him..? would he like it? would he be like erm what the scallop? maybe this request is a little too silly… but… genji plush
Tumblr media
★ "Don't turn me into a marketable plush!"
i am going FERAL over this ask. i literally was just thinking of that, too, today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENJI <33 It's okay, nothing is ever "too silly" here :3 reminds me, I think on Etsy you can commission someone to make this kitty Genji plush? Or, I'm tripping.
You figured that you'd want to go get Genji a special gift. He doesn't really mention liking much, other than musing about his early fascination with arcades and his troublemaking antics. Over the course of years and years, he's calmed down, but you do love seeing his more playful sidee shine every once in a while.
You knew that in his line of work, he doesn't expect anything for himself. The most that he could ask is just for someone's happiness and appreciation, that that's it for him to be reminded that—yes, he's doing a good job, and he's doing his best.
When he first acquired his new body, he'd be disappointed in himself; in his newfound form. Blinded by his strong, persuading emotions—there would still be times where he felt as if he didn't deserve someone's kindness. If he were to see someone who mirrored how he was back then, he could not've felt empathy—rather, a digust in seeing a spitting image of himself.
He now understands his worth and value in a greater extent now, with the help of his closest companions, mentor, and everyone... Ah, it still gives him chills whenever he thinks about that whole process again.
You were first interested in his initial reaction towards getting a plush. Would he think of it as merely childish, or would he understand the amount of hours you absolutely slaved over in trying to find the right techniques for it? Only time'll tell.
The idea was cute and simple; as it was merely just a plush. You wondered if he even cared much for plushes, figurines, or anything that he could really display. You knew that with his work as an agent, he is more-than-likely constantly out. It's be cool if he were to be able to at least settle the gift in a place he'd be able to see it every so often, as a gentle lil' reminder of you, but you didn't even know of he even... had a consistent residence.
You persevered, albeit.
After tutorial video after tutorial video on trying to work on a humanoid base for your plush, it became taxing on your hands. Either if you're working with knitting needles, sewing by hand, or machine—it was annoying how you'd prick your finger, trying to aim for the felt to stitch it up; or, the amount of hours that pass by whenever you try out your crocheting skills. It was a simple idea, so why weren't there any simpler methods?
Nights where you'd slump over your desk, fingers all red from the exertion, and your brain tired from all of it. You wanted to do your best for Genji, but it was difficult trying to even find a baseline on where to start with him. How'd you even make his helmet? Nonetheless, the inteicate details to his outfit and weapons?
You didn't want to commission the plush, as you were determined to make it from your own very hands. Through sweat, blood, and tears—you WILL make this thing.
Ultimately, you knew better than to just work and work and work on such a hard project. As much as you wanted to show Genji your utmost appreciation, also in a medium that you'd equally love, you knew that gifting Genji a bundle of stuffing all patched together by mishappen thread wasn't something you should be thinking of.
At the end of the day, you just wanted this idea to get out of your head. You didn't promise a gift to him, rather, you promised one to yourself. You'll get this done, even if it's eating away and nagging at your thoughts. You didn't buy all of those supplies for nothing, after all! Better make that money worth it.
Thinking on the topic of him possibly not being able to display the gift in a convenient position, you did consider making the plush smaller. However, the only issue was was because of the loss of quality that is also brought by with it—since you have to downscale the details, and simplify a few things so that it doesn't look all-too overwhelming.
You decided on making him a little charm. You'd imagine he'd be able to put it on a bracelet or a necklace, or just on whatever—as a little bit of added personalization. There were still the downsides listed prior, but you feel as if you tackled too big of a project for yourself; as it did require both patience in waiting lots, and having a lots of time.
At first, you were lost on really doing this, but ovee time with what you've learnt, you made a little plush charm that could fit into someone's palm! You were awfully proud of the little guy, since as soon as you were done making him and hooking the little chain, you gave it a tiny headpat with your index finger. Well done.
When Genji felt you tap his shoulder, you could tell that there was a smile behind his voice, as he asked what you wanted. He sensed you before then, but wanted to see what you'd do anyways.
You hid the item behind your back, snickering to yourself about what'll ever possibly happen. You guessed it was just from Genji, but gosh, does he make you eager. Even if he's not doing remotely anything in specific.
"What is it? Normally, people do not just laugh at something with their hands like that." He'd point out—thanks Captain Obvious—whilst with that teasing edge to his voice. He'd take a sidestep, a gander at what you may have, and then you try to cover it up.
"Be patient! Isn't that your whole thing?"
You then would sigh, as he made a mocking motion with his hands; mimicking how a sock puppet would speak. Upon making the comment on how he must not want his gift after all, he then shakes his head affectionately with a gentle tsk.
Once you then clasped your hands over the charm, you brought it out in front of you. When you released them, and showing him the little plush, he couldn't help but laugh at how adorable the thought was. He'd look up and down, judging by how he moved his head—since you cannot really see his eyes—nonverbally asking you if he could pick it up. You allowed him, and he then held the little guy in between his thumb and index.
"It's a pocket you." You explained, sounding dumb but you didn't care. Genji was busy squishing it, and playing with the keychain. "You're a father now."
He hated how he was just so giggly today. With an eye roll, you knew him enough to tell that, he then pockets the object in his hoodie. You were glad he liked it so much. "I'll take great care of my new son, don't worry."
The next day, whenever you went out to get a breath of fresh air—you saw Genji, sparring his sword against some practice dummies set up around the site. You wished you would've said more previously to him, that you made the gift out of appreciation for the ninja—but seeing how he had the accessory pinned on his hand, a place where he'd always have it... It spoke volumes.

Quick Thoughts on "Motendo/Lifedeath Part 1" from X-Men '97
This...is a weird one. Because instead of having two full-length episodes, or one episode with two different story lines co-existing with each other, X-Men '97 kind of just...stuck two episodes together and called it a day. Which is a shame because both of these would have been REALLY GOOD if they were left on their own, as the horrid pacing makes each story miss the mark, if just a little.
"Motendo" has what's honestly a great premise for a show like this. It honestly reminds me of Ducktales 2017, in a way, where it does more than reboot the original story, but brings back characters from different shows, comics, and even video games. With "Motendo" we have an episode that brings 90s X-Men fans back by having Jubilee and her boy toy Sunspot going through what I guess you could call an abridged version of X-Men Arcade. It's a cute reference that's gotta make the fans feel all the nostalgia, and the cool twist is that's the point the episode is making. The overall theme is that while nostalgia can make you feel good despite all the craziness in your life, you still need to remember to, well, live your life. It's all about going forward, not constantly moving backwards. Kind of ironic that we're getting this through a REVIVAL, but I still love that it's telling fans, new and old, the dangers of living the past. Makes it feel like it has more to do and say other than being that same old X-Men show you grew up with.
I'd definitely say "Motendo" is the one segment of this episode that's left somewhat better off with this little...mashing. I DO think we could have spent more time with Jubilee being taken in by the game and the nostalgic memories connected to them, all while Roberto acts as the angel on her shoulder, of course. Still, it gives off the message well and ends in a cute way. Can't really complain that much...What I can complain about is "Lifedeath Part 1."
Keep in mind, I do love ALL the bits that happen with Storm in this. She's trying so hard to process what happened to her and all the heartache she feels when things go wrong is empathetic. I feel bad for her during this one highly emotional scene, as I was as hopeful as her that things would turn out only to feel a weight on my heart when it all comes crashing down. The writers did a GREAT job on that. The problem lies on the piss poor pacing between Storm and Forge's relationship, with Forge having this out of nowhere confession that makes Storm's reaction feel hilarious instead of dramatic. It comes with the price of stitching what should have been a slow, easy episode together with one that gives you a sugar high with how fun it is. Everything goes by too quick to appreciate the dramatic moments, which should be OUTSTANDING but are just....good. They're good moments that don't have enough time to let you sit on them because the episode itself doesn't have enough time. At least it ends on a cliffhanger that makes me excited to see what happens next, so...There's that.
If you'd ask me, I'd say that "Motendo/Lifedeath Part 1" is probably the weakest episode so far. None of it's really bad. We still get some fun, cute, and heartbreaking moments that prove why this show is so strong. It's just the fact that they took two wildly different episodes, mashed them together, and called them ONE that causes the whole thing to feel imperfect. I liked it a lot, but we could have used more time.

panic attacks with robin
robin buckley x female reader
warnings: description of a panic attack, gf!robin
it had gotten bad again.
you thought the medication was supposed to make it better, you thought the panic attacks and the nightmares and the crippling anxiety would all cease to exist, but you were sadly mistaken.
not to get it confused, because they had stopped-- for a while. after the events of the upside down, after you guys almost lost max to vena, after eddie almost died, you began to experience this knot that would twist and turn in your gut. robin had told you it was anxiety, that she had dealt with it her whole life. she’d even given you some tips on how to help the sensation. sadly, there weren’t therapists that specialized in ptsd after you watch your friends get mauled by bats, yourself included. the pain subsided, your body no longer ached every time hot shower water sprayed your scars. but the ptsd was very real. the ptsd was why you no longer wore necklaces because it reminded you of the vines cutting off your airways, it was why you jumped at every loud noise, and it was why you always slept with a light on in your bedroom.
today was no different.
the day had gone normal, working at the family video with robin. she didn’t normally work thursdays, but it was dustin’s birthday and she picked up steve’s shift so he could take the curly headed boy to the arcade with eddie, now that his stitches were healed.
you’d had a nightmare last night, envisioning the same picture that would interrupt your peaceful slumber whenever you had nightmares. a bat slicing steve open, robin gasping for air as her airway was tapered off, a sobbing dustin screaming into the walkie talkie, and a unconscious max being carried into an ambulance. it effected everyone in different ways but for you, it came in the form of nightmares. because of that, you’d been on edge all day. you jumped every time the bell over the door would ring when someone entered the store, or yelped if robin accidentally brushed past you.
“you okay?” she’d asked you, raspy voice laced with concern, eyebrows raised. you’d only given her a hesitant nod and mumbled a “’gonna go put out the new releases,” before you scurried away from your girlfriend.
it wasn’t until you’d walked into the back to find the new releases that it all came crashing down. it was simple, a silly thing to get all worked up over. you were so focused on getting away from robin as to not worry her, you hadn’t been watching where you were walking. you bumped into the shelf that held the new releases and they all fell to the floor with a loud clatter.
all of a sudden, it was like the world went quiet, the only noise registering you ears being your thumping heart, ricocheting against the walls of your chest. it’s not long before your eyes well up with tears, pouring over your lash line and onto your rosy cheeks. “stop, stop it.” you mumble to yourself, bringing your shaking hands up to wipe away the tears.
“babe! you’ll never believe what this guy up front just said to me-” robin walks into the room, stopping in her tracks once her eyes land on me. “what’s wrong?” her voice is so soft that it’s almost a whisper, her lips turned downward in a concerned pout. you shake your hand, waving your hands in front of your body. your breath is uneven and comes out in short sobs and pants. “okay, um, you’re having a panic attack.” you shake your head again. “yeah, you are. um, here. sit down.” she offers you her hand to help you down onto the floor and you take it, your face in your hands once you sit. “it’s okay, i’ve had them before. do you want to be touched or no?”
you shake your head for the third time as you begin to hyperventilate, your knees pulled to your chest. “okay, that’s okay,” she nods, bending down to take a seat on the floor in front of you. “um, alright, i- uh, steve- name all the things he does wrong. horrible employee, am i right?” you lift your head to look at her, narrowing your eyes. was now really the time to make fun of steve? “i’ll start. um, he flirts with every female customer i think we’ve ever had. he takes super long lunch breaks,” robin licks her lower lips, trying to think for more ways. “he tries to tell me what i’m doing wrong when he barely knows how to clock in,”
“he-” you start, another choked sob slipping past your lips in between breaths. robin’s patient with you as she waits for you to form a sentence. “he never cleans the bathroom.”
robin grins proudly, pressing her hands over your knee. she watches how you respond. if you push her away, it’s not getting any better. if you allow it, she’s somehow helping. you relax a little under her touch and robin’s smile widens. “what else? oh, he’s so clumsy! how many times has he spilled coffee on the desk? tons.” once she’s run out of ideas on how to berate customers, she changes the subject. “worst customers. i’ll go first. freaking eddie. i mean, i love the guy to death but he hasn’t returned the exorcist in over a year! he has like two hundred dollars in late fees.”
your breathing starts to slow sightly, your hands still shaking. “d-dustin. he doesn’t even pay.” you mumble out, your hands running up and down your legs anxiously.
“i know!” she exclaims, laughing loudly. she scoots closer to you and raises her hand, brushing a few strands of stray hair behind your ear. “hi, pretty girl.” she smiles softly, holding your cheek in her hand. “we’re all safe, you know that right?” you nod, another tear sliding down your cheek, which she wipes away with your thumb. “i love you, babe.”
you gulp down the lump in your throat. “i love y-you, too... robin.” you take a deep breath, trying to focus on your girlfriend’s voice. she motions with her hand a come here motion and you obey, scooting over to her until you’re on her lap. she brings her hands around your back and pulls you in, allowing you to rest your forehead against her shoulder.
“deep breath in...” she demonstrates and you follow. “and out...” you exhale through your nose, your hands clinging onto her shirt, bunching the material in your fists. “better?”
“better.” robin rocks you back and forth on her lap, her hand a comforting presence on your back. you close your eyes and the room stops spinning, your heart rate normalizes, and your hands still.
you don’t know what you’d do without her.

❤️ The Animated Misadventures Of Chucky And Andy (CONCEPT) ❤️
🎉 Friends till the end! 🎉
I have been way too obsessed with this AU y’all. While I was drunk on water, I was thinking about that, “If there was a movie or TV show where Chucky and Andy were friends, I would definitely watch it” comment I made in my Child’s Play AU post, and being me, I felt like making that a reality… sorta.
I’ve been making tons of sketches of a hypothetical TV show based on my whole AU, and yesterday, I decided to draw this goofy ahh little mock-up of what it would look like if it actually became a cartoon. And oh boy, do I have so many ideas for this that I so desperately wanna share :]
So since Chucky ain’t a murderer in this, it’s a (slightly) more wholesome take on the series, but that doesn’t mean that I’m gonna water it down, make it more saccharine or kiddify it. There would be some crude humor, dark jokes/black comedy, and lots of strong language, mostly coming from ol’ Charles himself, since he is also iconic for his very “colorful” language. Basically, it would be an adult cartoon in the same vein as other shows like South Park or Rick and Morty, but a bit more toned down.
So while there’s no extreme violence, I’d still think the series would probably be rated TV-14, along with a DL warning for suggestive dialogue and coarse and/or crude language. As for which channel the series would possibly air on, I’m thinking that it would most likely be on SYFY, or maybe Adult Swim.
Now for the plot! The whole plot is basically the whole, “lonely and eccentric young kid finds a magical/supernatural creature or thing and becomes friends with it” type plot. Think Lilo and Stitch, or Ponyo, but instead of an alien or a goldfish, it’s a talking doll. And as I’ve mentioned in my Child’s Play AU post, the events that would happen in the show would be similar to that of a slice-of-life anime like Azumanga Daioh, or literally any sitcom you can think of.
Chucky tries doing something unhinged and outlandish, often dragging and coercing Andy into his shenanigans, but the both of them would get caught in 4k by Karen.
Here’s a little summary of what the premise would be;
“Young Andy Barclay’s life changes forever once he gets a Good Guy doll as a present from his mother. Little did the both of them know that this doll is a little more special than the others. Join him and his foul-mouthed sentient Good Guy doll, Chucky in wacky hijinks in this fun and irreverent slice-of-life comedy!”
In the show, the only people who would know about Chucky’s coming-to-life gimmick would be Andy and Karen (of course), and a few of Andy’s classmates, since there would be some episodes where he would sneak him into school to show his classmates, and um… you can imagine how it would go down lol
Actually, at the time of writing this, I thought up this super cursed scenario where Andy brings Chucky for show and tell, and some other girl brings a Barbie doll, and Chucky starts flirting with it. Jesus H. Christ, I can’t unsee it 💀
Since this does take place in the late 80s (specifically 1988), there would, of course, there would be things like MTV, big poofy hair, neon clothing, aerobic videos, etc. I absolutely adore anything 80s-related, so you know I’m definitely gonna go hard with the retro aesthetic for this show. There would be episodes where Andy and Chucky are hanging out at the local arcade, and just them playing NES games at home.
And last but certainly not least, there’s the voice actors. Obviously, I’m gonna keep Brad Doriff as Chucky, because mans is absolutely iconic. Though I’m not really sure who the hell would voice Andy or Karen. I do kind of imagine Karen being voiced by Dorothy Elias-Fahn or Tara Platt, but what would be your suggestions?
❤️ 🎉 ❤️

Disney may have forgotten but I haven’t, I bought their very pricey Flynn’s arcade shirt. Lake Buena vista location, when? You can’t just jokingly put that and “now open” and expect me to move on.
It implies there’s one. It’s definitely not the ride as Flynn’s arcade has nothing to do with the plot of it, it’s more of a Sam thing if anything. Now I’m actually— you could put it in what used to be Stitches great escape as at this point the wreck it Ralph thing is never going to happen. It’s still arcade based!
Or put it in the corpse of Disney quest/nba experience at Disney springs… cmon. If they brought back old Tron cabinets and other video games do you know how popular that’d be? You’d at least get the Dad market… cmon.

thought about random au ideas for Spinaraki. It's a vampire/monster au or monster au whichever one.
Spinner:
•He is a lizard mutant but also can shapeshifter into human form but not that long.
•He works at night shift as a nurse.
•He has his pet lizard just to make sure in case his guest doesn't know he has all the lizard stuff care for himself.
•He goes to the arcade on his days off and some time with Shigaraki. •He has learned combat from his caretaker. In case he is in danger.
•He is a gamer nerd
Shigaraki:
•He is a vampire
•He usually works at a bar with Kurogiri but his job is to collect blood bags.
•He is a leader in vampire groups.
•He mostly has free time to stay inside and play video games and sleep. But mostly now spend a lot of time with spinners.
•He learns about being a vampire from his master.
•He loves dogs a lot.
Story about:
Shuichi was working late at night at his usual job. When Suddenly looked ahead, he saw a nurse and a doctor rushing with a patient, who had been seriously injured. The doctor asks for his assistance in obtaining emergency kits for patients. When he returns, he notices the nurse attempting to calm down the patients while the doctor attempts to give the patients a shot. Shuichi told the nurse that he would calm down and go help the doctor. Shuichi was trying to think of a way to calm down the patients but ended up asking stupid questions like "Uh um, do you like video games?" The patient looked at him, confused but he replied, "Yes."' Shuichi kept the conversation going until the doctor was finally able to give him a shot, and the patient will have him falling asleep while the doctor begins to treat his wound. Shuichi went to work the next day and wanted to see the patient from the night before. He wasn't worried, but he wanted to check on him because he seemed to dislike the hospital and was effectively in pain. He approached the nurse but was surprised. The nurse says he was released early in the morning and gave him a note to go to the pharmacy to get his medication. Shuichi thought it was insane to let patients go after such an injury, but he reasoned that the patient was probably scared to stay in the hospital and didn't want to pay bills. Shuichi simply lets it go and goes about his usual activities. After a few weeks, he was about to clock out in the waiting rooms. Shuichi saw the same patient from a few weeks ago and asked if he was here for a check-up because he showed up pale. He said yes as if he was either uncomfortable or scared to answer, and he was simply requesting to have one of his wounds on his arms fixed up again. Shuichi decided to assist him and informed him that he called a doctor. However, he requested his assistance because he felt more at ease with him than with the doctor and nurse the previous time. Shuichi decided to do it if it was only his arm, and while he was stitching up his wound, he asked him if he was ok. The patients say he was fine, but his arm needed to heal for a few more weeks. Patients thank him for calming him down in the emergency room, which Shuichi was correct about because he dislikes hospitals. He also asked about his name, which Shuichi has shared. Shuichi asks his name as well, so he won't forget him if he returns. Shuichi now knew the patient's name was Shigarak, which he thought was a lovely name. Shuichi was nearly finished wrapping his wound when Shigaraki asked if he wasn't lying about playing video games. Shuichi confirmed that he also enjoys video games. Shuichi had no idea what had happened that crazy night, but seeing him again made him happy for a change. He made friends and his life was about to change for the better, but he was also trying to hide his true self because he didn't want his friends to find out he was a lizard mutant.

“Wreck-It Ralph” (2012)
And now, after several months' delay, we've reached probably the best non-musical Disney animated classic ever made. I mean, if you know me at all, then this shouldn't surprise you at all. I was a complete sucker for retro video games growing up and still remain that way to this day.
However, it'd be one thing to do "REFERENCES!: The Movie" and coast from there, and "Wreck-It Ralph" certainly indulges in that (shout-out to my Nos. 1a & 1b cameos, Q-Bert and the Konami Code), but it never forgets that it's its own story -- a story that is just expertly well-done. Although Ralph is the longtime villain of his own arcade game centered around the hero, Fix-It Felix, the movie audience is quickly drawn to him given the way the residents of Felix's building ruthlessly antagonize him without any concern at all, even when the "games" are over. They expect him to do his part and go sleep in the dump afterward while they celebrate inside, and then are flabbergasted when Ralph just doesn't show up to work one day because he wants to try to earn a "good guy" medal in another game. Part of the reason why Ralph works so well is that John C. Reilly is one of the best actors in the business and knows exactly how to earn sympathy with the right inflections while also showing frustration that lingers deep down.
Of course, Reilly doesn't have to do too much heavy lifting on his own. Sarah Silverman holds her own against him as Vanellope in a number of scenes and quickly establishes a compelling storyline of her own in the "Sugar Rush" world, where an old arcade villain has turned her from the star of the racing game (unbeknownst to her in a savvy twist) into a glitch that is never allowed to race. Ralph and Vanellope form a quick, effortlessly charming bond that establishes the heart of the whole movie.
Tumblr media
"30 Rock" favorite Jack McBrayer (hi Kenneth!) and Jane Lynch are perfectly fine as Felix himself and a character from another game, Sgt. Calhoun, but there's an acceptable version of "Wreck-It Ralph" that exists where Felix is just part of the town and Calhoun isn't in it. I'd wager that this one is better since Felix has a nice realization about how he's been enabling Ralph's misery, but it's interesting to consider regardless.
Anyway, this movie is ingenious. The design is fantastic, Game Central Station and all its components are brilliant, the comedy is great, the occasional animated transitions to arcade and 8-bit lands are executed seamlessly, and who doesn't enjoy a story that reaches its thrilling conclusion with the help of Diet Coke and Mentos?
I love "Wreck-It Ralph." I can only put it above so many Disney musicals because that, to me, is what the ol’ House of Mouse is all about at its heart, but what a joy it is to have this jewel in the Disney archives.

Shawn Mendes to be honoured with the International Achievement Award at The 2022 JUNO Awards Broadcast in Toronto, live on CBC
The global icon will return to his hometown and make a special appearance to receive the prestigious award
TORONTO — The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced today that GRAMMY® nominated Canadian singer-songwriter and 11-time JUNO Award winner, Shawn Mendes, will be celebrated for his impact on music globally with the JUNO International Achievement Award. Mendes will make a special appearance to receive the distinguished decoration during next month’s show. The first in-person iteration of the awards since 2019, the event will be held at Budweiser Stage in Toronto, on Sunday, May 15 and broadcast and streamed live across Canada at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, CBC Listen, and globally at CBCMusic.ca/junos and CBC Music’s Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages.
The JUNO International Achievement Award recognizes Canadian artists who have attained exemplary success on the world stage. The award looks to honour Canadian talent who have not only topped charts, but who have raised the profile of Canadian music around the world. With 26 total JUNO Award nominations, including four in 2022 (TikTok JUNO Fan Choice, Album of the Year Presented by Music Canada, Artist of the Year Presented by SiriusXM Canada and Pop Album of the Year), multiple GRAMMY® nominations and countless accolades across the industry and beyond, Mendes is receiving one of the highest distinctions presented by CARAS. As one of its youngest recipients, Mendes joins an incredible list of honourees including Arcade Fire, Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, Drake, Sarah McLachlan and Shania Twain. Throughout the 51-year history of The JUNO Awards, the International Achievement Award has only been given out eight times, most recently in 2018.
“Accepting this award will be a surreal moment,” said Mendes. “To be recognized for my work not only in Canada, but around the world, is a tremendous honour and I am humbled to join an outstanding group of artists who have helped put Canadian music on the map.”
“Shawn’s dedication and passion for his craft is truly inspiring,” said Allan Reid, President & CEO, CARAS/The JUNO Awards. “From his work as a singer-songwriter to the creation of The Shawn Mendes Foundation, he has demonstrated an incredible commitment to music and cultivating the next generation of creatives. We are grateful as Canadians to claim Shawn as our own and can’t wait to commemorate all of his achievements in-person at this year’s JUNO Awards.”
For almost a decade, Mendes has been capturing the hearts of fans across Canada, beginning with his 2013 hit “Stitches,” which went seven times platinum. In 2017, he went on to release his three-time platinum hit “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”, securing his second #1 single. Since then, his career has continued to thrive far beyond Canadian borders, with his fourth studio album, Wonder, which was released in 2020 to rave reviews. Debuting at #1 in multiple global markets, including the Billboard 200 Chart, Wonder marks Mendes’ fourth consecutive #1 album. On top of that, he has released countless chart-topping hits and four #1 albums, achieved 62 billion global streams and 10 billion video views, and embarked on several world tours and Arena Shows including a 2019 hometown performance at Rogers Centre that sold-out in minutes. In 2019, he founded The Shawn Mendes Foundation, which provides grants and resources to amplify the voices, messages, and platforms of young leaders driving positive change.
Mendes will begin his global tour later this year with “Wonder: The World Tour”, kicking off in June in Portland (info and tour dates at http://www.wonderthetour.com).

SOUTH ARCADE: THE ARC ANGEL TOUR
12.03.2024 @ O2 Academy 3, Birmingham (250 Capacity) ⚠️ TW: some flashing lights in video ⚠️
Written March 2024
First concert of the year and there’s no better way to kick it off than South Arcade. Having seen them just 6 months prior, I knew that it was going to be a good night and the Oxford-based band did not disappoint. Imagine if a 2000s pop it girl made rock music and you get South Arcade, a British rock band slowly breaking onto the scene. It’s a classic ‘pop diva has an emo phase’ sound and it’s absolutely wonderful to hear in real time. Having been on 2 tours already this year, they’re quickly becoming one of the acts to look out for in the coming years.
I had been in contact with the band about potentially coming to the gig beforehand to observe/help out as work experience - that didn't end up happening but they put me on the guestlist instead! I was still able to watch change-over in between sets though as we were at the barricade for the whole gig and it was interesting to watch because I actually knew what each crew member was doing and why.
The first opener was a heavy rock/metal band called Tropic Gold that I’d not heard of before, but I will definitely be checking them out at a later date. They were phenomenal. The second opener was a singer called Beren Olivia who had heard of but not yet listened to her music. Her set was just her and her guitarist, which meant that we got a nice, calmed down acoustic set of her punchy rock-influenced pop songs, including a part-cover of ‘Sugar, We’re going down’ by Fall Out Boy. I didn't realise till after the gig that she recorded backing vocals on one of my favourite songs, 'Every Heart but Mine' by Dylan, who I've gone to see in concert twice.
South Arcade blew all expectations, as expected tbh. We got to hear one of my favourites of their songs, ‘Nepo baby’ live as well as 2 unreleased songs, including ‘Riptide’ which is more than likely to be the band’s next single. To be able to hear covers of sk8er boi AND I kissed a girl in the same night was completely surprising and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. Cody’s incredible drumming skills are enhanced by Harry & Ollie on Guitar and bass with just enough room to aid Harmony’s unreal vocals. It’s all the y2k nostalgia in a rock show but with clear modern rock elements coming through.
@artbyamixx had gotten the band to sign an in-progress zine in September, and managed to get finished copies to hand out to friends we had met last time and to the band members when we got the chance to talk to them after the show and they absolutely loved them. Each page corresponded with a single of theirs (the most recent ones) and she’d even hand-sewn stitches onto a picture of a heart on one page!
It’s crazy that in just under 6 months, the band are playing shows at venues over double the size, they’ve grown so much in such a small amount of time and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. At this rate I’ll be going to every one of their headline tours!
